  1. 0:00Great. We're gonna go to Kelly.
  2. 0:03>> Kelly.
  3. 0:04>> Hi, Mr. Mayor. I wanted to ask you the
  4. 0:06five ballot questions that came out of
  5. 0:08your commission all passed yesterday. I
  6. 0:10wanted to get uh your reaction to that.
  7. 0:12And also, I wanted to ask you if you've
  8. 0:15called Abdul El. Have you spoken to him?
  9. 0:17And how much of this election do you
  10. 0:19think was a referendum on uh President
  11. 0:21Trump and what's come out of his uh
  12. 0:23White House?
  13. 0:25Yeah, I think this referendum was on
  14. 0:28politics at large across this country.
  15. 0:31This referendum was on politicians
  16. 0:34telling working people that their needs
  17. 0:35were unrealistic while those same
  18. 0:37politicians were willing to do whatever
  19. 0:39it is that the wealthiest people in the
  20. 0:40country would ask them to do. And I
  21. 0:42think this referendum is this this this
  22. 0:44election is also a referendum on JD
  23. 0:47Vance asking for two more years to
  24. 0:49deliver on the things that Americans
  25. 0:50cannot afford even another day of delay
  26. 0:52on. And I am excited because what we now
  27. 0:57have is an opportunity to ensure that we
  28. 1:01recognize our job for what it is. It is
  29. 1:03not a job to better manage a decline. It
  30. 1:07is a job to inspire our country to
  31. 1:09heights that we've never been to before
  32. 1:11where the working people who built this
  33. 1:13country are the ones that are then in
  34. 1:15the the centerpiece of all of our
  35. 1:16politics. And to your question about
  36. 1:19coach, you know, it is what we saw last
  37. 1:23night is New Yorkers voting for a
  38. 1:25government that moves as fast as they
  39. 1:28do. We saw New Yorkers vote by
  40. 1:30significant margins whether to speed up
  41. 1:33the process of outdoor dining and save
  42. 1:35small businesses money or accelerate
  43. 1:37street safety improvements or ensure
  44. 1:39that nonprofits could actually have
  45. 1:40their contracts paid on a better
  46. 1:42timetable or even to cohhere the way in
  47. 1:44which we build affordable housing and
  48. 1:46strengthen our savings. And to me, what
  49. 1:48is so exciting to see is that this is
  50. 1:51now an opportunity for New Yorkers to
  51. 1:53have a government that moves as fast as
  52. 1:55they do. And I also just want to take a
  53. 1:56moment to acknowledge Jimmy who's here
  54. 1:58who's worked tirelessly as have a number
  55. 2:01of others in our team at city hall in
  56. 2:04ensuring that we met the state
  57. 2:05requirement of public education around
  58. 2:07these ballot proposals would not be
  59. 2:09possible without that kind of work.
  60. 2:10>> And Colin Abdul, did you call him on?
  61. 2:12>> I I haven't spoken to him yet. Uh I'm
  62. 2:15sure he is he is quite busy. I've had
  63. 2:17the privilege of speaking to him in the
  64. 2:19past and I have to say that his election
  65. 2:22is one that means so much to so many and
  66. 2:25to see
  67. 2:27to see that victory in the face that all
  68. 2:32that he had to
  69. 2:34to to reckon with over the course of
  70. 2:36that campaign whether in terms of the
  71. 2:38extraordinary amount of money spent to
  72. 2:40oppose him or the racism and slander
  73. 2:42that he was met with on a daily basis.
  74. 2:44It is incredibly exciting to see as as
  75. 2:47he said last night that the good guys
