Zero to Hero AFK only - Chains of Command Necromancer POE1 — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:01Hello guys, welcome to a special journey with my Necromancer Animate Weapon build.
- 0:05Zero to Hero doing only AFK farming strategies such as Blight, Ultimatum, and Simulacrum.
- 0:12This video is actually a practice run for my 3.30 league starter.
- 0:16The idea came from the fact that I'll be very, very busy over the next two months, Ha.
- 0:22So I had a question: is there any league starter build that
- 0:25can get me AFK farming as soon as possible?
- 0:28On top of that, can it also handle any content, so I won’t be affected by nerfs to any farming strat?
- 0:36So I try levelling my build entirely around AFK strats. More specifically,
- 0:41I wanted to start AFK farming right after the campaign.
- 0:46Also wanted to know how quickly I could get this build to the point where it can
- 0:50farm Simulacrum, because that’s one of my favourite types of content.
- 0:55I have a plan, but will it work? Yeah... we’ll see.
- 0:58Now, let’s start.
- 0:59I started a Witch
- 1:01character using Freezing Pulse and SRS.
- 1:04Then I switched to Absolution near the end of Act 1.
- 1:08Whenever I found a Vaal Orb or a Corrupted Altar in Act 2,
- 1:12I used it on my Absolution gem to try to get Vaal Absolution.
- 1:17Luckily, I got one on my first try.
- 1:20This Vaal Absolution carried me smoothly through the campaign.
- 1:27And in Act 3, remember to keep levelling an Animate
- 1:30Guardian gem. We’ll use it after the campaign.
- 1:34For my first lab, I chose Commander of Darkness.
- 1:43That wasn’t in the plan.
- 1:48Yeah, before killing Kitava, I finished my second and third labs too.
- 1:55I also respecced Commander of Darkness into the Unnatural Strength and Bone Barrier nodes.
- 2:03By the way, if you didn’t get a Divine Orb during the campaign, running Labs with
- 2:08Transfigured Gems at league start is actually a good way to make some early currency.
- 2:14...I just never have any luck doing this.
- 2:18After completing the campaign in record time for me,
- 2:21I wanted to jump straight into my first AFK strat: Blighted Maps.
- 2:25But first, I had to unlock Blighted Land by completing three maps.
- 2:37I’m starting to like this character
- 2:39Blighted Land is unlocked, so... it’s time to switch the build.
- 2:41I need three unique items to start AFK farming.
- 2:44Chains of Command for the body armour,
- 2:46a Terminus Est Tiger Sword,
- 2:49and a Writhing Jar flask. That’s all I need.
- 2:53I made sure Chains of Command had six sockets.
- 2:55All the Support Gems socketed in Chains of Command can support our Animate Weapon.
- 2:59They don’t have to be linked actually. I just need six sockets.
- 3:03Then I gave the Tiger Sword to my Guardian.
- 3:07That’s all set. The passive tree is the same as my Absolution setup,
- 3:12so I didn’t have to change anything.
- 3:14Here’s my gear now. It’s the minimum gear I need to get started.
- 3:20Then I bought a Tier 1 Blighted Map for one Chaos Orb.
- 3:24The Oils you use to anoint a low-tier map don’t really matter, so just use whatever Oils you have.
- 3:31Yeah, my first Blighted Map! The AFK journey finally starts.
- 3:36For safety, I’ll build some Stun and Freeze Towers on every lane. Then I can just chill.
- 3:44But my gear is actually really bad right now, and I still have negative resistances. Ha.
- 3:49So I still need to keep an eye on things.
- 3:53Let’s quickly talk about the build. It’s a Necromancer Animate Weapon build.
- 3:57Whenever your Animate Guardian kills an enemy,
- 4:00it automatically creates an Animated Weapon, so it’s basically a zero-button playstyle.
- 4:06The biggest reason Animate Weapon works so well for AFK farming is
- 4:10that the weapons are aggressive by default.
- 4:13They can search for enemies off-screen, which is an irreplaceable advantage for AFK farming.
- 4:20Animate Weapon also has a very unique damage-scaling system compared to other minions.
- 4:26Its base damage comes from the weapon your Guardian uses, not from the gem level.
- 4:31So, with a one-Chaos weapon on my Guardian,
- 4:34my Animated Weapons can already deal millions of damage.
- 4:38It’s just... stupidly strong early in the game.
- 4:42The Necromancer Ascendancy also plays an important role.
- 4:45Unnatural Strength converts all damage to chaos and applies Wither on hit,
- 4:50which literally doubles the damage.
- 4:53Bone Barrier gives me life leech from my minions. It’s the last piece we need,
- 4:58and the baseline for face-tanking all the damage while AFK.
- 5:02Yeah, my first Blighted Map is done.
- 5:05The biggest advantage of Blighted Maps is that they do NOT rely on ANY Atlas progression.
- 5:12So yeah, you don’t actually have to clear the Atlas or get any Voidstones.
- 5:16its also a big advantage in Day1.
- 5:19The rewards are only affected by the map tier.
- 5:23Blight drops a lot of Oils and bubblegum currency, which are also very good to sell at league start.
- 5:29So farming Blighted Maps on Day 1 is a really good strategy.
- 5:36After a few maps, I had saved up some currency and reached level 73,
- 5:40so it was time for some upgrades.
- 5:43An Ancient Skull. Try to find one with a lower Minion Life penalty.
- 5:48And two Foulborn Severed in Sleep daggers with 5% Minion Crit Chance.
- 5:53Severed in Sleep grants the Envy Aura, which provides a lot of flat
- 5:57chaos damage. Socketing Generosity Support with it can increase the effect of Envy.
- 6:04I also got a Hyrri’s Truth for the Precision Aura and to help fix my
- 6:09Dexterity, so I can use a high-level Haste Aura.
- 6:12A Belt of the Deceiver to Intimidate enemies and
- 6:16reduce the extra damage I take from critical strikes.
- 6:20I also capped my chaos resistance with my flask and gear,
- 6:24because I want to face-tank the poison balls and Caustic Ground.
- 6:28Yeah, that’s all the upgrades for my character.
- 6:31Next, let’s gear up our Guardian.
- 6:34A Leer Cast for the 50% increased Damage Aura,
- 6:38Gruthkul’s Pelt for 10% Life Regeneration,
- 6:42and Kahuturoa’s Certainty to make him unaffected by damaging Ailments.
- 6:47Again, I gave them to my Guardian.
- 6:50And that’s all set!
- 6:53I’m keeping the glove slot empty for the next upgrade phase.
- 6:56With these upgrades, I want to jump straight into red maps.
- 7:00Golden Oils and Blight-Ravaged Maps can drop from Tier 13 maps and higher.
- 7:06From Tier 13 to Tier 16, the maps have identical rewards.
- 7:12And Tier 13 maps are much cheaper,
- 7:15so I have no reason to run Tier 16 maps actually. Just buying Tier 13 maps is fine.
- 7:21I anoint the maps with x2 Teal Oils and x1 Crimson Oil to save time and get some Lucky chests.
- 7:30I also corrupt every map. My build can handle any modifier,
- 7:35including No Regeneration, so I just corrupt them.
- 7:39The process is the same: build some Stun and Freeze Towers at the beginning, then I can chill.
- 8:07Yeah, that’s what I said. Tier 13 maps are enough. Don’t waste money buying Tier 16 maps.
- 8:13However, I want to make this build even lazier.
- 8:16Building Towers on every lane isn’t lazy enough.
- 8:19My goal is to AFK without building any Towers. I’ve saved up some currency now,
- 8:24so I can buy the core items for the next phase.
- 8:28A Paradoxica with Attack Speed. For the prefix,
- 8:31it can have either Chaos Penetration or increased Weapon Damage.
- 8:36Asenath’s Gentle Touch to provide explosions and Curse on Hit.
- 8:41Victario’s Charity to grant Power Charges and Frenzy Charges to allies.
- 8:47Again, I gave them to my Guardian.
- 8:50I also got a Witchfire Brew
- 8:53and enchanted my flasks to use automatically when they reach full charges.
- 8:59Next, Darkness Enthroned with 90% increased effect or higher,
- 9:05and two Ghastly Eye Jewels with Tier 1 added Physical Damage.
- 9:09My minions are moving too slowly, so I also got a Bone Ring with Tier 1 Minion Movement Speed.
- 9:18Yeah, everything’s set. Let’s see how it works.
- 9:34Yeah, that’s what I want. This build currently has 20 million DPS,
- 9:38which just about meets the threshold for AFK farming without Towers.
- 9:43Farming Blight without Towers is so satisfying and lazy. Ha
- 9:48However, since we corrupt every map, some combinations of modifiers can be nasty.
- 9:52So it’s better to build one or two Towers at the beginning for safety before we leave the computer.
- 9:58Let’s do more maps.
- 10:18You know what? Never sell your stacked decks. Ha
- 10:22Yeah... even though Blight is so rewarding, I’ve been doing too much of it and I’m kind of tired.
- 10:28It’s time to switch to another AFK farming strat.
- 10:31I want to do Ultimatum next. It’s literally a gear check for both DPS and defense.
- 10:36Now I have enough damage, so it’s time to fix my defense.
- 10:41First, I need a shield with high Block Chance. Physical Damage Reduction is a plus.
- 10:47A Foulborn Soul Tether belt with instant leech. It’s the
- 10:51most important item for Ultimatum farming.
- 10:54And The Anvil, for maximum Block Chance.
- 10:58I’ll anoint it with As the Mountain to get more maximum Block Chance.
- 11:03I’ll drop Haste Aura and switch to Tempest Shield, Flesh and Stone, and Arctic Armour.
- 11:12I’ll also make some small changes to the passive tree to cap my Block Chance,
- 11:17get more maximum resistance, and become immune to Corrupted Blood.
- 11:23Next, I also need to make my AG tankier.
- 11:26A Gravebind glove to trigger my Animated Weapons more often,
- 11:30and a Replica Victario’s Charity, which provides Endurance Charges for all allies.
- 11:36I also bought a Hateful Accuser with higher Chaos Resistance,
- 11:40because I need Penance Mark to sustain my minions when killing the Trialmaster,
- 11:46or pretty much any Pinnacle Boss.
- 11:50I just noticed that I hadn’t done my final lab yet, so I finished it,
- 11:55and bought a Catarina ticket because I need her bloodline.
- 12:00mm .. another big money.
- 12:11I need the bloodline for Prolonged Servitude.
- 12:14And the final step is to prepare my flasks.
- 12:17I use Ruby and Topaz Flasks for more Fire and Lightning Resistance,
- 12:21because Ultimatum has Fireballs and Lightning Storms that I need to face-tank.
- 12:30I also crafted the “Gain Charges when you are Hit” prefix on all my flasks,
- 12:32so I can keep them up in any situation.
- 12:35That’s almost ready.
- 12:38I think it should be tanky enough. Let’s give it a try.
- 12:41I usually run Ultimatum with one Bribing Scarab, one Inscribed Scarab, and a white Tier 16 map.
- 12:50Ultimatum doesn’t require Voidstones, but it does require about 50 points on the Atlas Passive Tree.
- 12:58I prefer running City Square. After entering the map, I just rush to find the Ultimatum.
- 13:04When you’re doing Ultimatum, you get hit very often. Life Leech from the
- 13:08Necromancer Ascendancy is very powerful, so we just need to avoid getting one-shot.
- 13:14For my Pantheon, I use Lunaris and Tukohama for extra physical and elemental damage reduction.
- 13:21Also, this build is still low-budget, so the defenses aren’t perfect yet.
- 13:25There are six modifiers that are very dangerous for me.
- 13:31I’ll need Mageblood to deal with these modifiers in the future,
- 13:34so for now, I’ll just skip them to stay safe.
- 13:37The rest of the modifiers are easy.
- 14:01I failed 2 maps out of 10. I feel like I’m tanky, but I’m not killing enemies fast enough.
- 14:08Sometimes my Animated Weapons just expire, which puts me in an awkward situation.
- 14:14Well, upgrading the damage should fix it.
- 14:17Uul-Netol’s Vow and anoint it with As the Mountain to get more maximum block chance.
- 14:23It gives my Animate Weapon an extra linked Support Gem, which is a huge DPS boost.
- 14:29And I use Increased Critical Strikes Support. Now, back to Ultimatum.
- 14:47Yeah, this time it went more smoothly. My survivability actually improved.
- 14:52More damage also means more consistent life leech. The best defense is a good offense.
- 14:59After running so many maps, I got quite a few Inscribed
- 15:01Ultimatums. Unfortunately, only a few of them had Divine Orb rewards.
- 15:07For the rest, you can sell five Inscribed Ultimatums
- 15:10of the same rarity to a vendor to get a new one.
- 15:14The amount of “more Monster Life” shows the Inscribed Ultimatum’s rarity tier.
- 15:19There are four tiers: 30%, 70%, 120%, and 200%.
- 15:25If an Inscribed Ultimatum doesn’t have a “more Monster Life” modifier,
- 15:29that’s a trash. Don’t pick it up.
- 15:32I prefer running the Inscribed Ultimatums myself. It’s exciting,
- 15:36and I can actually make a lot of Divine Orbs.
- 15:39But if your character isn’t strong enough, I suggest selling them.
- 15:47I’m getting a little tired of Ultimatum again.
- 15:50Now I have enough currency for more upgrades,
- 15:53so I want to move on to the next phase: farming Simulacrum.
- 15:58This requires a huge upgrade.
- 16:00Let’s start by buying a Voidforge. It’s expensive, but it’s the most important item for this build.
- 16:07I used a Tempering Orb to roll its enchantment, looking for a Physical modifier magnitude.
- 16:13After upgrading to Voidforge, I no longer deal chaos damage,
- 16:17so I have to change some of my Support Gems.
- 16:20I’ll put them in the PoB.
- 16:24Let’s keep shopping.
- 16:27A Minion Damage Cluster with Renewal, Vicious Bite, and Raze and Pillage or Rotten Claw,
- 16:34a Minion Life Cluster with Blessed Rebirth and Life from Death,
- 16:39and an Armour Cluster with Enduring Composure.
- 16:43I also need more Ghastly Eye with Tier 1 added Physical Damage. Voidforge multiplies that
- 16:48Physical Damage by 8 times. So its important.
- 16:51I’m also switching my belt back to Darkness Enthroned for more Ghastly Eye.
- 16:56I’m also upgrading my shield to Aegis Aurora.
- 17:02Pair with a The Red Nightmare jewel. I’ll socket it here,
- 17:08then tattoo all the Strength nodes to Fire Resistance.
- 17:12The Red Nightmare grants the Block Chance equal to 50% of
- 17:15the Fire Resistance from passives in its radius.
- 17:19This tech helps me cap my Block Chance.
- 17:23That should be ready, let's try
- 17:55Simulacrum.
- 18:13Holy... I’m rich again.
- 18:16But I’m not sure why this implicit is so expensive.
- 18:23Instant sell. I might have priced it too low.
- 18:32Wait, what?
- 18:33It’s my first death in Simulacrum. It looks like I got one-shot by a critical strike.
- 18:40Let’s fix it.
- 18:43Chains of Command with an implicit that reduces extra damage taken from critical strikes.
- 18:48An Ancient Skull with +2 to Minion Gem levels, to get our AG to level 23 for safety.
- 18:56I also want to upgrade my rings. They’re just too bad.
- 19:01Let’s craft a good minion ring.
- 19:03The first step is buying a fractured base with a Tier 1 Minion Damage modifier.
- 19:09Then roll Essences of Fear until you hit Tier 1 Minion Attack Speed.
- 19:17And an open suffix.
- 19:21Then Craft “Suffixes Cannot Be Changed” and use Harvest to reforge Chaos.
- 19:29It’s guaranteed to get Chaos Resistance. Tier 4... yeah... I’ll take it.
- 19:37Craft “Suffixes Cannot Be Changed” again, then use Harvest to reforge Life.
- 19:44You can repeat this step until you hit Tier 1 Life. Then it’s done.
- 19:49I paired it with a Kalandra’s Touch... Beautiful.
- 19:57I also bought a Bottled Faith for more DPS.
- 19:59The best defense is a good offense.
- 20:02So far, we’ve had another big boost to our DPS. Let’s go back to Simulacrum and see how it works.
- 20:25Yeah, it’s much smoother. now can kill bosses
- 20:27much faster ,and Animated Weapons no longer expire during combat.
- 20:39Finally got a Voice. Should I identify it?
- 20:48Ah... never lucky.
- 21:01Finished five Simulacrums while AFK without dying. I think AFK machine is complete.
- 21:06And that should also be the end of my practice run.
- 21:10So far, I’ve played for almost 25 hours and finished this AFK all-rounder.
- 21:16The gear can also handle Uber Bosses actually, and there are still many possible upgrades,
- 21:21such as Elegant Hubris and Abyss Jewel stacking.
- 21:25But those upgrades would be overkill and.. That’s not the point of this video.
- 21:30I think this project is complete: a zero-to-hero journey relying only on AFK farming.
- 21:37If you’re also interested in this build and the playstyle,
- 21:41check out my build guide video for more details. I’ll put the link in the description.
- 21:46One thing worth mentioning: Ruthless Support hasn’t affected Animate Weapon since 3.29.
- 21:53But this wasn’t mentioned in any patch notes.
- 21:56I guess it’s a bug, and GGG not fixed it yet.
- 22:00Since there are still many build guides on the internet using this Support Gem,
- 22:04just letting you know: use another Support Gem instead.
- 22:08Yeh, I think That’s all the content for today.
- 22:10Hope you enjoyed the journey.
- 22:12And See you next time.
