  4. 0:18zanu project rethink yes we do get
  5. 0:21people to rethink their conclusions and
  6. 0:23answers today I'm in the
  7. 0:25studio with some wonderful group of
  8. 0:28people they make me miss home so bad I
  9. 0:32have in the studio today students from
  10. 0:34the University of uh Bridgeport they're
  11. 0:36not just students from International
  12. 0:38African students at the University of
  13. 0:40Bridgeport now Bridgeport university
  14. 0:42happened to be my arm mother and I won't
  15. 0:44tell them the class I graduated makes me
  16. 0:46really and uh the reason I'm excited is
  17. 0:49because they are gen Z and each time I
  18. 0:51have a gen Z in the studio the
  19. 0:52conversation is very interesting because
  20. 0:55their perspective is different mine is
  21. 0:57different and we're trying to bridge the
  22. 1:00Gap we will get straight to it right now
  23. 1:03we have here Theo akfu per uh business
  24. 1:08administration of course uh so by that
  25. 1:11name you're from Ghana I am yeah woo
  26. 1:14that's also my home and then we have
  27. 1:16with us Benita in who is in
  28. 1:22nursing my last name y so mean the child
  29. 1:26of w is like child of like child of God
  30. 1:30so what is losier losier is like well
  31. 1:33losier is more like God's Own oh I see
  32. 1:37it's different a little bit from uh
  33. 1:39chinu and uh wow man you got all right
  34. 1:43and you are from Nigeria Nigeria so we
  35. 1:46have a ghanian and who's who has the
  36. 1:48best y love oh we can't talk about that
  37. 1:51now that's another she knows the truth
  38. 1:53that's correct and now what is
  39. 1:54interested is that interesting is that
  40. 1:56the students are also members of the
  41. 1:59African student Association at the
  42. 2:01University of Bridgeport an organization
  43. 2:03that I was a co-founder back in the '90s
  44. 2:05and they've kept it alive they get some
  45. 2:07really very interesting events happen on
  46. 2:10campus one is coming up soon is it 13th
  47. 2:13of uh March or 17th I believe it's the
  48. 2:1714 14th of March 14th of March and what
  49. 2:19is it going to be well it's a royal Fox
  50. 2:23wedding so this one is like uh just
  51. 2:26bringing like you know Nigerian and GH
  52. 2:28ghanian culture a wedding yes in terms
  53. 2:31of a wedding okay just to Showcase what
  54. 2:33weddings look like back there a lot of
  55. 2:35uh dollars is going to be rained on the
  56. 2:37on the bride and stuff like that as we
  57. 2:39see in the videos yeah it's usually very
  58. 2:41colorful so if you are in town if you
  59. 2:43are within the Fai County March 14 March
  60. 2:4714 the campus of the University of
  61. 2:49Bridgeport please come and support if
  62. 2:51you are if you are an alumni living in
  63. 2:53please please I'll be there I'll be
  64. 2:55there and we want to make it look really
  65. 2:57good so thank you guys for keeping Asa
  66. 2:59still burning on campus and today you in
  67. 3:02the studio not to talk about ASA right
  68. 3:04so I sent you guys a note when I came to
  69. 3:06visit and I said to you that of course
  70. 3:09one of the things that is burning right
  71. 3:11now is every African country is looking
  72. 3:13to become developed right because we are
  73. 3:15the only continent that is labeled as
  74. 3:18underdeveloped uh countries and we've
  75. 3:20accepted it and we know why and we've
  76. 3:22been trying whether you're a ghanian or
  77. 3:24Nigerian or we all trying right and then
  78. 3:27I said well the effort is useless
  79. 3:29because no black country would ever
  80. 3:33develop let me explain what I mean by
  81. 3:35black countries meaning the 54 that is
  82. 3:37on the continent the 13 black countries
  83. 3:39in the Caribbean the Black communities
  84. 3:41in the United States in UK or wherever
  85. 3:44you are you are never ever going
  86. 3:47to develop can you also explain what you
  87. 3:51mean by develop like in terms of
  88. 3:54economics or technology or a very good
  89. 3:57question I was going to throw that to
  90. 3:59you because all I keep hearing when you
  91. 4:01turn on to Facebook or Instagram and
  92. 4:03it's ghanians or Nigerians or S Leones
  93. 4:06our country must develop tinu is a bad
  94. 4:08man today because he is not moving
  95. 4:10Nigeria to where it must go from the 60s
  96. 4:12all you've been talking about is we are
  97. 4:15we are accepted the label in the 70s as
  98. 4:18underdeveloped countries we did there's
  99. 4:20no debate about that we use it in our
  100. 4:23IMF applications we are third world
  101. 4:26underdeveloped countries so that's what
  102. 4:28I mean so you have to tell me me what
  103. 4:30you mean when you said I'm crazy by
  104. 4:32saying you won't develop it means you
  105. 4:34understood what I
  106. 4:35meant yes um I I feel like the African
  107. 4:40countries well for me I just went home
  108. 4:42to Ghana I I haven't been home in a
  109. 4:44while so seeing the Country Now versus
  110. 4:47like the four years four three years ago
  111. 4:50when I was there I see a lot of
  112. 4:52differences I see I see
  113. 4:55Evolution um I just saw like this
  114. 4:58morning um I know this this is kind of
  115. 5:00off topic but I saw like Burkina Faso
  116. 5:02they just created their first um
  117. 5:05electric car like their
  118. 5:07first local completely um original
  119. 5:12electric vehicle in that country that
  120. 5:14would seem so like far-fetched like 5 10
  121. 5:18years ago from an African country so I
  122. 5:21do think that development is possible in
  123. 5:24African countries even though it might
  124. 5:26be way not even way slow well it has
  125. 5:29been considerably slower than before I
  126. 5:32jump ahead of you can you name the
  127. 5:34company in Bina Faso a car company that
  128. 5:36was established opened by a binab bay a
  129. 5:40citizen what is the name and which cars
  130. 5:42did this car company made first before
  131. 5:44this
  132. 5:45electric car I can't you can't where did
  133. 5:48you see it I saw it on Instagram today
  134. 5:51actually I'm really disappointed you are
  135. 5:54in college and social media is not a
  136. 5:57place for fact fetched news or stories
  137. 5:59Bina Faso has not manufactured designed
  138. 6:02and rolled out an electric car they
  139. 6:04haven't rolled it out yet but they they
  140. 6:07just designed and designed I thought you
  141. 6:09said people are test driving the car on
  142. 6:11the streets of binab I did not say that
  143. 6:13oh so where is I hasn't been out yet no
  144. 6:14no where is it a toyer who designed it
  145. 6:17well I you don't know which company the
  146. 6:19toyer what i t a o a i and it's owned by
  147. 6:23who might SP I might have spelled that
  148. 6:24wrong I don't know who you don't know it
  149. 6:26could be a foreign company that came to
  150. 6:28Bina Faso and Design a car and said we
  151. 6:30could manufacture from this place that
  152. 6:32is not something you say is for a
  153. 6:34developed that's not development but you
  154. 6:36also I mean it's a sign we don't know we
  155. 6:39cannot use that as an example of what
  156. 6:40you're talking I haven't seen it I
  157. 6:42haven't I need to see it and say that
  158. 6:44they they've uh do you know how long it
  159. 6:45took Tesla to roll out one car even the
  160. 6:48design to be complete and be a prototype
  161. 6:50so no it's not true but you can't just
  162. 6:53say it's not true just because because
  163. 6:54you don't know the name of the company
  164. 6:55you don't know the fact I just told you
  165. 6:56the name of the company I just because
  166. 6:58it was written on the Instagram
  167. 7:01yeah give you that well in my
  168. 7:04perspective like I do feel like where
  169. 7:06I'm from like we struggle with a lot of
  170. 7:08economic it's a lot of economic
  171. 7:10struggles like we Face due to like
  172. 7:12leadership and things like that but I
  173. 7:14just feel like we do have the capability
  174. 7:17of being developed cuz I see like cuz
  175. 7:20being transitioned from like Nigeria to
  176. 7:21like here I've seen like the difference
  177. 7:23in like motivation and people wanting to
  178. 7:25see change in Nigeria rather than
  179. 7:28compared to here people just like you
  180. 7:29know they get what they want
  181. 7:30everything's easy to them but like in
  182. 7:32Nigeria like even though like we
  183. 7:34struggle with many like factors with
  184. 7:35economic we do see like there is going
  185. 7:38to be a change is is going to be uh like
  186. 7:40sooner or later will be development in
  187. 7:42that country I just feel like we like us
  188. 7:45Nigerians we have motivation to like
  189. 7:47have that and like do that change so I
  190. 7:49do like my P my perspective I do see
  191. 7:52that there is going to be a change in
  192. 7:54Nigeria sure every four years there is a
  193. 7:57change in Nigeria there's a change in
  194. 7:58every country so let's back up a little
  195. 8:00bit maybe we ahead of
  196. 8:02ourselves what is it in
  197. 8:08Nigeria what is not there that makes you
  198. 8:11say that it's not developed what is not
  199. 8:14there yes I mean some people may say
  200. 8:17like theu no you have to say you speak
  201. 8:19yes Ghana what is not there that makes
  202. 8:23you say Ghana is not developed what is
  203. 8:25it
  204. 8:30you well for my country I'll say like
  205. 8:32what is not there it's just like there's
  206. 8:35lack of
  207. 8:36leadership like in my country so that
  208. 8:39lack of leadership what has it not
  209. 8:41provided Nigeria that makes you and I
  210. 8:43know I've lived there that it's not a
  211. 8:44developed country yes it's not what is
  212. 8:46it that is not
  213. 8:48there well what from what I see and like
  214. 8:51what like family tell me like in terms
  215. 8:53of leadership it's just like there's no
  216. 8:56structure there's no structure explain
  217. 8:58structure
  218. 9:00like basically like there's a lot of
  219. 9:01like inflation going on right now in
  220. 9:03Nigeria inflation has gone on here in
  221. 9:05America yes but do you have everything
  222. 9:09and inflation happen to you can be a
  223. 9:10healthy man and catch fever that's how
  224. 9:12inflation works so do you have
  225. 9:14everything that makes a country
  226. 9:15developed but you have
  227. 9:18inflation well okay so yes there even
  228. 9:21though there's inflation like in Nigeria
  229. 9:23like we we have the resource I do
  230. 9:26believe we have resources we have
  231. 9:27resource I'm talking about it's
  232. 9:29developed country no it's not so I'm
  233. 9:31asking what is it that is not there that
  234. 9:33makes it
  235. 9:35underdeveloped well leadership
  236. 9:38butel you can have a bad
  237. 9:40president we just had one but the
  238. 9:42country was still sailing
  239. 9:45smoothly but the thing is um even even
  240. 9:49if they did have like the right people
  241. 9:51or the resources like she's saying it's
  242. 9:54the people in the country not wanting to
  243. 9:56like do what they have to they don't
  244. 10:00want to yes and why don't they want to
  245. 10:02because they're selfish and want to why
  246. 10:04they're selfish who takes his own home
  247. 10:07and watch it deteriorate because you're
  248. 10:11selfish you wouldn't do that that is
  249. 10:12your country everybody like she said has
  250. 10:14a Zeal want to do something so let me
  251. 10:16take you now on a different road but
  252. 10:18it's the same
  253. 10:19path when you two when did you discover
  254. 10:26that Ghana Nigeria was not developed and
  255. 10:29how did you come to that realization
  256. 10:32there was something about health and you
  257. 10:34are in nursing when you go to the doctor
  258. 10:36there's something interesting they
  259. 10:37always ask you hey dog I'm having a
  260. 10:40toothache they ask you when did it start
  261. 10:42right because it helps the doctor to
  262. 10:44know how
  263. 10:46to so if you say oh just two weeks ago
  264. 10:48it would be a different approach he
  265. 10:50would use how about if you told him I
  266. 10:52was born with it there'll be a different
  267. 10:55approach so you know you're not well
  268. 10:57because yesterday day before you were
  269. 10:59healthy you had appetite you woke up
  270. 11:01this morning you don't have appetite
  271. 11:03you're not feeling well so you tell the
  272. 11:04doctor I am not well because you knew so
  273. 11:07when did you discover that Nigeria or
  274. 11:09Ghana was not developed when did we
  275. 11:11discover yes how did you know when that
  276. 11:14when is important it would be when I
  277. 11:17came here for school when I discovered
  278. 11:19myself rather than being told in school
  279. 11:20cuz I was told in school when I was in
  280. 11:22Ghana that you know we're a third world
  281. 11:24country were underdeveloped compared to
  282. 11:26the other you know so when did you know
  283. 11:28that your country was not developed um
  284. 11:31coming here I would say how about you I
  285. 11:33would say same with me because I was
  286. 11:34raised in Nigeria and I didn't see
  287. 11:36anything wrong I guess I was like young
  288. 11:38but like I wasn't like I didn't see
  289. 11:40myself struggling that's correct so then
  290. 11:43when I came here it's like I saw like a
  291. 11:45huge difference like withing like health
  292. 11:47and things and school education things
  293. 11:49like that very good all right now let's
  294. 11:51dive into what is the real me of this
  295. 11:54discussion what do Nigerians have in
  296. 11:56common with American white Americans the
  297. 11:58was who founded this
  298. 12:00country except both of them being human
  299. 12:02beings what do they have in
  300. 12:04common I mean there are people that have
  301. 12:07innovation no no no what do they have in
  302. 12:10common with Nigerian physically yes
  303. 12:12beside being human beings the
  304. 12:14environment culture history what do they
  305. 12:16have in common with Nigerians or
  306. 12:17ghanians or let's start using the word
  307. 12:19Africans what do they have in
  308. 12:22common
  309. 12:24nothing can't think of so you see what
  310. 12:28you have done so if there was no country
  311. 12:30on Earth but Africa is the only
  312. 12:33continent on
  313. 12:35Earth would you still call it the third
  314. 12:37world
  315. 12:39country no no then Nigeria would not be
  316. 12:42underdeveloped am I not
  317. 12:44right so the day the mother deer or the
  318. 12:48mother Antelope took its babies out that
  319. 12:51was the first time they saw the tiger or
  320. 12:53the lion and saw Its Behavior it can run
  321. 12:55a mile in 9 seconds grab other animals
  322. 12:58and tear them into pieces and the mother
  323. 13:00deer said wow that is a superior animal
  324. 13:03what does that mean to the baby deer
  325. 13:06will you ever do that no so the baby
  326. 13:09deer is inferior for the rest of his
  327. 13:11life that's what you've done with your
  328. 13:13countries you're comparing your country
  329. 13:15and the day you knew your country was
  330. 13:17not developed is because you look at
  331. 13:18another country where the people who
  332. 13:20live it who build it have nothing in
  333. 13:21common with
  334. 13:24you when I say that no black country
  335. 13:26would ever develop I meant
  336. 13:30the basic things that is required the
  337. 13:33four pillar Foundation that you find in
  338. 13:36every developed country but there is no
  339. 13:39developed country there are only two
  340. 13:40types of countries on Earth
  341. 13:42industrialized countries and
  342. 13:44non-industrialized
  343. 13:45countries so if I tell you ghanian
  344. 13:48Africans your people are underdeveloped
  345. 13:51ghanians are underdeveloped would you
  346. 13:52accept it no how about you no then how
  347. 13:57can a place there's no place you can't
  348. 13:59have a country without people so how did
  349. 14:01you call the country itself under
  350. 14:03developed yet claim that the people who
  351. 14:04live in it are developed it's because of
  352. 14:07the infrastructure no but what I'm
  353. 14:10saying is if the people were developed
  354. 14:12shouldn't they build what they supposed
  355. 14:13to build but it's the resources as well
  356. 14:15the lack of resources what resources do
  357. 14:17you lack there are only four resources
  358. 14:19I'll come to it and tell you you have
  359. 14:21plenty of it than anybody else on Earth
  360. 14:23so you see the comparison is when you
  361. 14:25began to know that your country but the
  362. 14:28four pillars of the four pillar
  363. 14:30Foundation required in any develop
  364. 14:32industrialized country no black country
  365. 14:35has it those are do you know what is
  366. 14:38wasp WP white the race Anglo-Saxon the
  367. 14:42ethnicity Protestants the religion and
  368. 14:45their
  369. 14:47history right so is it when they came to
  370. 14:51colonize our our continent and then left
  371. 14:55I'm saying that that is a four pillar
  372. 14:57Foundation Japanese the language the
  373. 15:00ethnicity they Japanese the history they
  374. 15:03and then their religion their religion
  375. 15:05Germans lutherans the English are
  376. 15:08anglicans they wasp they are formerly a
  377. 15:10Germanic tribe that occupy what we call
  378. 15:12now the UK or the English land England
  379. 15:15okay China you see it even though you
  380. 15:18have pockets of different tribes they
  381. 15:19all speak Mandarin they all from the
  382. 15:21mean dynasty they all share the same
  383. 15:23religion and the same history let me ask
  384. 15:26you who is a Nigerian
  385. 15:32I would say someone who's like who's
  386. 15:33born there or someone like who's like
  387. 15:35well parents are from there or raised so
  388. 15:37what is Nigerian
  389. 15:38[Music]
  390. 15:40culture it varies because in Niger so
  391. 15:43the answer is there's no such thing what
  392. 15:45do Nigerians
  393. 15:46speak multiple languages there's no such
  394. 15:48thing what is the value sensus of value
  395. 15:51of Nigeria as a culture there is no such
  396. 15:54thing what is the history of
  397. 15:55Nigeria there is no such thing unless
  398. 15:58you start from 19 60 when we gain
  399. 15:59independent yet the EOS have been around
  400. 16:02that place more than 900 years the B
  401. 16:05Kingdom have been around that place
  402. 16:06close to A Thousand Years the euroba
  403. 16:08Empire has been around close to a
  404. 16:11thousand years but when you say what is
  405. 16:12a Nigerian culture Nigerian history you
  406. 16:14can only start from
  407. 16:171960 so are you saying like is the
  408. 16:20people like is the people's fault that
  409. 16:23we're not like developing even like back
  410. 16:25then like is it no we haven't even come
  411. 16:27to the point of whether you developing
  412. 16:28or not developing I'm just simply saying
  413. 16:30the four pillar Foundation that is
  414. 16:32required for people to say this is ours
  415. 16:35and this is the dream since you were
  416. 16:37born have you seen a blueprint by your
  417. 16:39ancestors that says this is where Ghana
  418. 16:41is going and by the year 2040 Ghana will
  419. 16:44be this have you seen it not exactly but
  420. 16:47like they have their plans well I see it
  421. 16:50in the news on the government news but
  422. 16:52I'm saying what is ghanian blueprint
  423. 16:54have you seen the constitution of
  424. 16:55America it says clearly what they are
  425. 16:57going to be how about Nigeria no no
  426. 17:01exactly so you don't have a blueprint
  427. 17:03like trying to build a house with no
  428. 17:05architectural plan two you don't have
  429. 17:07the four pillar Foundation
  430. 17:09required let me ask you the 63 black
  431. 17:13countries in the world do you know any
  432. 17:14black country where the people who live
  433. 17:16in it founded
  434. 17:17it by founding I mean a group of people
  435. 17:21like the euroba kingdom moving around
  436. 17:24and came upon a land that is fertile has
  437. 17:26what they want and they settled there
  438. 17:27even if they have to kill the IND and
  439. 17:29steal their women they did and then made
  440. 17:32it into a republic is there such a thing
  441. 17:33on earth a place a country where the
  442. 17:36blacks who live in it were the ones who
  443. 17:38founded
  444. 17:39it the Caribbean the 13 black countries
  445. 17:43Africa has 54 of them put together the
  446. 17:45largest race on Earth by number of
  447. 17:47countries which black country do you
  448. 17:49know were the people who live in it
  449. 17:51founded
  450. 17:53it I just know one that who founded
  451. 17:56Ghana which ghanian founded Ghana
  452. 18:00no no British founded Ghana and gave it
  453. 18:03to him when he was complaining too much
  454. 18:04in his independence but that was who
  455. 18:07founded Nigeria which I actually did not
  456. 18:09know that's corre because no Nigerian
  457. 18:11founded Nigeria the Ben Kingdom found a
  458. 18:14Ben
  459. 18:14Kingdom found
  460. 18:16EUR you understand what I'm saying yeah
  461. 18:19but I'm talking about
  462. 18:21Nigeria but I see what you're saying
  463. 18:24okay what about um like Ethiopia a
  464. 18:28country that was never colonized Sone
  465. 18:30was never colonized Sone yes they just
  466. 18:33pull back slaves there so what it
  467. 18:37doesn't mean anything still their
  468. 18:38country was CED by the
  469. 18:42Europeans so how do you expect that a
  470. 18:48people can build something they did not
  471. 18:53desire I'm trying to lead you slowly
  472. 18:55your conclusion not mine but all the
  473. 18:58people who are going to listen because
  474. 18:59you guys are going to become members of
  475. 19:01parliament in the future you are going
  476. 19:02to be the leaders of this continent if
  477. 19:04you want to go back you need to have
  478. 19:06something in your mind to say this is
  479. 19:07what is wrong and I want to change it
  480. 19:08otherwise we are all going to be
  481. 19:10swimming in the dark for the rest of our
  482. 19:11lives no black country on Earth will
  483. 19:14become industrialized impossible you
  484. 19:17said resources people keep complaining
  485. 19:19and telling you that the reason African
  486. 19:21countries can't develop is because the
  487. 19:24white people stole their resources it's
  488. 19:26a lie there are four resources nobody
  489. 19:28they can steal water is one of them did
  490. 19:31you see tanks from Britain taking all
  491. 19:33your water away no fella sang a song in
  492. 19:371981 water house Food House hey waiting
  493. 19:41to them right 1981 do you know how many
  494. 19:44years ago he was complaining about there
  495. 19:45is water over ground the Niger River
  496. 19:48goes through Nigeria no Nigerian can get
  497. 19:50a cup of water pure one from his pipe in
  498. 19:53his own room you have tanks on every
  499. 19:55building that's one they didn't take it
  500. 19:57away the second one is l land the
  501. 19:59Colonials didn't take it away you have
  502. 20:01vegetative land in Nigeria if Japan own
  503. 20:03it they will feed half of the world with
  504. 20:05food
  505. 20:06export the third one solar energy 365
  506. 20:10days we don't get winter we don't get
  507. 20:12spring we don't get Autumn is there have
  508. 20:13you harvested it you go build a a
  509. 20:16electric car when you can't even give
  510. 20:17people electricity in their homes in
  511. 20:19Bina Faso what are you going to use to
  512. 20:22charge you understand so solar that's
  513. 20:24the third one so the fourth one is of
  514. 20:28course
  515. 20:29uh Manpower resources okay from the
  516. 20:32intellect into physical they didn't take
  517. 20:34it away so all four things that help
  518. 20:36other countries to build themselves you
  519. 20:38have it you have it more than anybody
  520. 20:40the Congo aone the Congo has water
  521. 20:42Reserve enough to fit the whole of
  522. 20:45central Africa for the next 250 years
  523. 20:47and not even have a drop kids in Congo
  524. 20:50can't even take a clean shower because
  525. 20:51of lack of water Trana is the northern
  526. 20:54part of Kenya it has it took some
  527. 20:56foreign guys from Denmark to tap into to
  528. 20:58the aqua fire to know that Trana has
  529. 21:01over 200 trillions I don't know even the
  530. 21:04number how they measure water
  531. 21:07liters in Kenya but the people of Trana
  532. 21:10every year their cattles and humans who
  533. 21:13die you can see it and we will be
  534. 21:16sending them in PESA and foreigners will
  535. 21:18Rush there to save they can't tap the
  536. 21:21water to feed themselves so what do you
  537. 21:22think the internal issue
  538. 21:24is are you asking us to come to that
  539. 21:27conclusion you are the one who said I'm
  540. 21:28Crazy by saying you can't develop now we
  541. 21:30have seen clearly that nothing has been
  542. 21:31taken away you have
  543. 21:34everything so when we are not blaming
  544. 21:37the Colonials for stealing resources
  545. 21:39which is a boogeyman we use just to
  546. 21:41explain as if we the only ones who were
  547. 21:42colonized if stealing of resources is
  548. 21:45the reason for colonization Ben will not
  549. 21:47be colonized we have nothing but coconut
  550. 21:49trees on the
  551. 21:51beach Gambia would didn't be colonized
  552. 21:53TJ Island would be colonized many places
  553. 21:56Gambia W be colonized it's not for
  554. 21:58stealing resources it's too expensive
  555. 22:00and it's too cumbersome Colonial they
  556. 22:02don't steal resources and they
  557. 22:04didn't everything you discovered now was
  558. 22:06discovered after
  559. 22:08colonization but we use it as a boogy
  560. 22:10man and when we not talking about
  561. 22:12resources the countries don't have
  562. 22:13resources they say
  563. 22:16oh it's our leaders they're corrupt it's
  564. 22:18not
  565. 22:20true those leaders you have that you
  566. 22:22keep saying where did you employ them
  567. 22:24from
  568. 22:26China they are from among you right yeah
  569. 22:29so every years randomly you pick one of
  570. 22:32you but you expect that person to know
  571. 22:36different from what you know not
  572. 22:38different but they should be willing to
  573. 22:41willing what do you mean willing willing
  574. 22:43happens if you know what you
  575. 22:47do I feel like they should like picking
  576. 22:51like presidency especially like in
  577. 22:53Nigeria like they should see the things
  578. 22:55that us like you know people struggle
  579. 22:57with in Society so we expect them to
  580. 23:00like okay like this is what we're
  581. 23:01struggling with this is what it is your
  582. 23:04fault how do you know that he has what
  583. 23:06it takes to fix it no I'm not saying
  584. 23:08that he has what it takes I'm saying
  585. 23:10that like people expect like I think
  586. 23:12like in Nigeria cuz like people like is
  587. 23:14trying to vote for like presidency and
  588. 23:16things like that and we all expect for
  589. 23:18the president to like see what is going
  590. 23:20on in the society and say okay like we
  591. 23:23hope for you to like make this change
  592. 23:24and like you know they'll put like
  593. 23:25theirself out there saying oh I will
  594. 23:27address this I will address this and
  595. 23:29then when they come into presidency it's
  596. 23:31like the exact opposite or like yes
  597. 23:33because you corrupted them who corrupted
  598. 23:36them the
  599. 23:37masses no African leader is
  600. 23:40corrupt that just makes you're going to
  601. 23:43have to elaborate on that
  602. 23:45corrupted so how we corrupt like the
  603. 23:48people corrupted the like what like what
  604. 23:49do you mean by corrupted like who corrup
  605. 23:52so when computers started right when we
  606. 23:54had computers in high Towers you know
  607. 23:57that computer has a program in it
  608. 23:59and so you have to only introduce what
  609. 24:01it can use the program to understand
  610. 24:02right so when people use more Weare to
  611. 24:04introduce your hard drive what do you
  612. 24:06say happened to your wi drive my hard
  613. 24:07drive is corrupted which means you you
  614. 24:10you gave it something to do that is not
  615. 24:12part of what he knows how to
  616. 24:14do Colonial is Left Behind a political
  617. 24:17system and you hang on to it and then
  618. 24:20you're picking one of you to use it to
  619. 24:22do
  620. 24:23something you said that's what you
  621. 24:25wanted you said every four years you
  622. 24:27want to go out there and pick one of you
  623. 24:28to lead you so somebody said okay pick
  624. 24:30me look at my suit it's nice and I speak
  625. 24:32your language and you picked them you've
  626. 24:36introduce a tax to this man or woman who
  627. 24:40you don't know if he knows he doesn't
  628. 24:42own a country we just proven to you
  629. 24:44there is no country but you're asking
  630. 24:46him to Le something that is not there if
  631. 24:48you give your Lamborghini to your
  632. 24:50seven-year-old you've corrupted his
  633. 24:52skills he runs into people or he runs
  634. 24:54into a
  635. 24:55tree the people you've been pinking
  636. 24:57since Independence don't know how to do
  637. 24:59what you're asking them to do so you
  638. 25:01corrupt their skills so we've like you
  639. 25:05saying as Nigerians have corrupted like
  640. 25:08the president or something like that
  641. 25:10happens you are just you just a corrupt
  642. 25:12in waiting they make any of you MP right
  643. 25:15now you'll be corrupt because what
  644. 25:16they're asking you to work on is not
  645. 25:19natural to you it's
  646. 25:23foreign The Villages where you come from
  647. 25:26do you use ballot to pick the chief they
  648. 25:28know you from age
  649. 25:3012 by who you are what you can do and
  650. 25:33that's how we picked our leaders in
  651. 25:34Africa for hundreds of years okay so are
  652. 25:38you saying that if we implemented like a
  653. 25:40system like so in Ghana in in my culture
  654. 25:43the way like picking a chief works is
  655. 25:46there are five royal families and then
  656. 25:48it rotates each family every time are
  657. 25:51you saying that if that happened with
  658. 25:53like our government how can it happen
  659. 25:55with your government you don't have
  660. 25:56Ghana you don't have a country called
  661. 25:59Ghana or
  662. 26:00ghanians so whom are you
  663. 26:02picking that that just makes no sense so
  664. 26:06is the political system the issue like I
  665. 26:09don't know I'm giving you things for you
  666. 26:10to make your own conclusion there's no
  667. 26:12Ghana there's no Ghana there's no
  668. 26:14Nigeria who is a Nigerian you a Nigerian
  669. 26:17only when you leave the country and you
  670. 26:18are abroad you said I'm from Nigeria but
  671. 26:21when you ask a Chinese they don't say
  672. 26:22I'm from China they say I'm Chinese
  673. 26:25Japanese would say I'm Japanese ask
  674. 26:26African they always say I'm from it
  675. 26:29means you're talking about a physical
  676. 26:31location that was created by some
  677. 26:32Foreigner and a bunch of you who have
  678. 26:34nothing in common lives there in Nigeria
  679. 26:37there's no nobody says I'm Nigerian you
  680. 26:39say I'm
  681. 26:41EO have the WASP un Unity that you are
  682. 26:45that you referred to earlier what do
  683. 26:46mean just because we don't have the WASP
  684. 26:48like of course you don't have it yeah so
  685. 26:51we're not like we're just not ghanian
  686. 26:53we're just like you're aan you're a g
  687. 26:55that's correct do you know and it's a
  688. 26:57metaphor I love it I read it do you know
  689. 27:00the Tower of Babel in the
  690. 27:03Bible what was the main thing that
  691. 27:06stopped the tower from being
  692. 27:09built yeah I don't remember Jesus do you
  693. 27:13know the tower I no like I know the
  694. 27:16story but tell the story I just know
  695. 27:19like a group of um people were building
  696. 27:21the Tower of Babel and then they kept on
  697. 27:24going as they're building it I believe
  698. 27:27like they came across like I forgot they
  699. 27:30came across like a fire or something
  700. 27:33like that and like I think a fire like
  701. 27:35stopped on one of them each and one of
  702. 27:37them and they started speaking different
  703. 27:38languages so a group of people with one
  704. 27:41language one culture was building a
  705. 27:43tower so sexul for some sick reason God
  706. 27:47looked down and changed their languages
  707. 27:49and they started speaking different
  708. 27:50languages and the tower
  709. 27:53stopped so that's what the that's what
  710. 27:56they did to us or we did to ourselves I
  711. 27:59don't know I'm just describing things
  712. 28:00you have to make the conclusions what
  713. 28:02does a tower
  714. 28:04represent development that's correct
  715. 28:07every time they say something is
  716. 28:09developed you you know you you you do
  717. 28:11this right so it's a metaphor a tower
  718. 28:13represent development growth but it's
  719. 28:16only possible I said it to you from the
  720. 28:18beginning you got to have
  721. 28:20language one you know how America
  722. 28:22struggled to make sure Spanish is not
  723. 28:24even a second language here but they
  724. 28:26know what it can cause you don't have
  725. 28:29that you don't have a national culture
  726. 28:31you don't have a National History you
  727. 28:33don't have a national
  728. 28:35identity so where is patriotism and
  729. 28:39nationalism but you're making it seem
  730. 28:42well I'm understanding it in the way
  731. 28:44that you're explaining it that it's not
  732. 28:46exactly a bad thing but like it's it's
  733. 28:49the division in the countries is what
  734. 28:51the problem is why we can't develop but
  735. 28:54that's what
  736. 28:55makes I think that's what makes
  737. 28:58um our African Pride like having having
  738. 29:02so much diversity but like in that one
  739. 29:05place even though that doesn't make us
  740. 29:08develop to your well not to your
  741. 29:10standard but like what have you benefit
  742. 29:12from that diversity I mean I I can say I
  743. 29:15come here and know who I am and but
  744. 29:17that's because you are a
  745. 29:19tree yeah not because you're a Ghan see
  746. 29:22when I said your name I could say it
  747. 29:23from anywhere and I said you are a tree
  748. 29:25I wouldn't say you are
  749. 29:26gone and that
  750. 29:28tree forms
  751. 29:31you okay so what about the individual
  752. 29:33tribes in those little countries do you
  753. 29:36think those are it's possible for those
  754. 29:39countries to develop like those those
  755. 29:41little tribes like no but because
  756. 29:43because you've made them to let go what
  757. 29:45is called in the development of a
  758. 29:47country self-determination that is a
  759. 29:49goal
  760. 29:51self-determination you've let them go
  761. 29:54they
  762. 29:55can't they can't you're now saying you
  763. 29:58are ghanian yet there is nothing you
  764. 30:01can't raise a child in Ghana as a
  765. 30:02ghanian you can raise a child as a tree
  766. 30:05kid with the values you have your
  767. 30:07culture your dance your
  768. 30:09history your Traditions you don't wake
  769. 30:12up in Ghana and say I'm ghanian you wake
  770. 30:14up as a tree when you look around your
  771. 30:17inspiration your determinations is
  772. 30:18forced by your culture but now you don't
  773. 30:23have it they don't teach it you don't
  774. 30:24have it anymore Ghan you are not you're
  775. 30:28not either I'm not kidding I want you to
  776. 30:31look at what I'm saying
  777. 30:33carefully I think if there is no country
  778. 30:35on earth black country that was formed
  779. 30:37by the people who live in it every one
  780. 30:39of you are living in a guest house
  781. 30:41you've seen people living in the guest
  782. 30:42house find the way to develop the M
  783. 30:45house better than the owner
  784. 30:50never why do we have the UDA history cuz
  785. 30:53they were one people one religion one
  786. 30:56history
  787. 30:58one ethnicity you couldn't break in
  788. 31:01that's why we have the tribal marks to
  789. 31:03differentiate them so they can see each
  790. 31:05other and dream dreams why do we have
  791. 31:07the Benin Kingdom why do we have the AG
  792. 31:10Kingdom in Benin
  793. 31:11Republic and the Ashanti Kingdom who
  794. 31:14fought the British their shanties
  795. 31:16because they were the most predominant
  796. 31:17in the area at the time they were able
  797. 31:19to have an Administration form a palace
  798. 31:22with rulership land division everything
  799. 31:25where is it they made you become so it's
  800. 31:28not divide to conquer it's unite to
  801. 31:33conquer so what the colonial took away
  802. 31:36from you is not what you started
  803. 31:37fighting for after 1960 what they took
  804. 31:40away from you is that
  805. 31:42identity for selfdetermination but all
  806. 31:45the idiots who got independence Kum
  807. 31:47included and all of them the first thing
  808. 31:49they started working on is economic
  809. 31:51development because they saw the people
  810. 31:53who colonized them we want to be like
  811. 31:54them and we've been lost since then
  812. 31:59you said you went to Ghana and you see
  813. 32:01change change happens everywhere change
  814. 32:03is not a goal so let me ask you name one
  815. 32:07thing in you two one thing in Nigeria or
  816. 32:09in Ghana that was originally built by a
  817. 32:12ghanian in the realm of infrastructure
  818. 32:15that you guys are coming to work on what
  819. 32:17is it can't say nothing you can't say
  820. 32:20about you 13 million people every day
  821. 32:23you are an knowing the rest of us saying
  822. 32:24we are the giant of Africa yeah cool you
  823. 32:27can't manage a gas station but yes what
  824. 32:31is it you know and I'm not kidding that
  825. 32:33a Nigerian originally innovated invented
  826. 32:37build it and now people are trying to
  827. 32:39build on it what is it original using
  828. 32:42the four natural resources I just
  829. 32:48described look I'm from Ben I'm black as
  830. 32:51it comes you know Nancy and I used to go
  831. 32:53to Ben when I had my heroes program
  832. 32:55that's how proud I am from but that
  833. 32:57doesn't mean I'm blind to what I'm
  834. 32:58talking about Ben is only 3.5 million
  835. 33:01people with 49 different
  836. 33:04languages they can't manage a public
  837. 33:08toilet I don't want to laugh but I would
  838. 33:12say like I agree with what you're saying
  839. 33:14like I do feel like cuz like it's some
  840. 33:17like people arew I feel like people are
  841. 33:19aware of like the resources that like we
  842. 33:21have already that's in Nigeria already
  843. 33:23that's like building on it and then some
  844. 33:25people are like more focused on like
  845. 33:28than trying to build up from like
  846. 33:29Economic Development things like that
  847. 33:31from what but what original economic
  848. 33:34system do you have in I'm talking
  849. 33:35about like the past like people are like
  850. 33:37like colonization back in the past
  851. 33:38people are trying to like like you said
  852. 33:40like trying people are trying to use
  853. 33:41that and like build that up but I do
  854. 33:43feel like there are certain individuals
  855. 33:45or like people in Nigeria that are aware
  856. 33:47of like the resources that like are
  857. 33:49around us that we already have like for
  858. 33:51example like people are like building
  859. 33:53like oil company or like water company
  860. 33:55and things like that and I feel like not
  861. 33:57everybody is aware that we do have
  862. 33:59natural resources ourself that we can
  863. 34:02yeah I feel like not everybody knows you
  864. 34:04don't see the water no I'm saying that
  865. 34:07people are like don't have that like
  866. 34:10knowledge or why would they have
  867. 34:11knowledge about something they don't
  868. 34:12have capability to use why should I care
  869. 34:15myself about uranium when I don't know
  870. 34:16what to do with
  871. 34:18it but I feel like people are like
  872. 34:20they're not like they're lack not I
  873. 34:22going to say this but like people
  874. 34:24they're not like they see it of course
  875. 34:26yeah they see it by like they're not
  876. 34:28like able to say okay like let me learn
  877. 34:30what I can build from this Lear from
  878. 34:32where like probably from I'll say from
  879. 34:35history like from our history how do you
  880. 34:37learn how to build infrastructure from
  881. 34:38history like people can like building
  882. 34:40infrastructure is a capability I'm
  883. 34:42talking about
  884. 34:43capability yeah let me use the word so
  885. 34:45you can argue with you sit around it but
  886. 34:48you can't build it why you don't have
  887. 34:50the
  888. 34:52capability you don't that's why you
  889. 34:55haven't done it in any black country
  890. 34:57even though other resources that
  891. 34:59everyone else have used listen in 19
  892. 35:021945 there about Japan was leveled with
  893. 35:05two atomic bombs no other human country
  894. 35:08has ever suffered that
  895. 35:10completely in
  896. 35:121945 Japan hasn't invented one
  897. 35:15thing they have airplanes they used to
  898. 35:17you know but do you know what 1945 your
  899. 35:20dad may be still alive was born in the
  900. 35:23yes do you see the country right now
  901. 35:26yeah they are surrounding by salty ocean
  902. 35:30they don't have
  903. 35:31land 73% of Japan 126 million it's all
  904. 35:36taken by
  905. 35:38mountains it's
  906. 35:41capability capability are you but like
  907. 35:45are you saying that we're lacking that
  908. 35:47capability because we don't have that
  909. 35:49selfdetermination no not at all it's
  910. 35:51natural it's natural it's a natural so
  911. 35:54yeah like we're naturally lacking that
  912. 35:56capability yes
  913. 35:58so you don't think we can build or like
  914. 36:00have like eventually like have that
  915. 36:02capability to like say okay let me start
  916. 36:05knowing what capabilities don't come
  917. 36:06eventually they are either in you from
  918. 36:08the beginning or they now so can a fish
  919. 36:11climb no so if that is what is required
  920. 36:14of the
  921. 36:15fish doesn't have that capability
  922. 36:17there's Evolution no I don't care I
  923. 36:20won't be around for evolution I'm
  924. 36:21talking about
  925. 36:23now if that is what is required of the
  926. 36:26fish the fruit are on the tree right
  927. 36:29golden fruit if the fish can reach it
  928. 36:31the fruit will become very rich plug it
  929. 36:33and sell it can the fish plug
  930. 36:35it so the the the golden fruit will be
  931. 36:39there and the fish will be here and be
  932. 36:42and be hungry so your resources are
  933. 36:45there but you're hungry because you
  934. 36:48don't have the capability and you're
  935. 36:50refusing to accept it because he's too
  936. 36:52emotional for you I agree with
  937. 36:55that I am talking about 63 countries on
  938. 36:59Earth 14 makes
  939. 37:02Echo and just by accident not even
  940. 37:06one you have to see it on
  941. 37:09Instagram and you still think that I'm
  942. 37:12saying something
  943. 37:14stupid but why do you think you should
  944. 37:16have that
  945. 37:18capability let me ask you you've
  946. 37:21traveled quite white have you seen any
  947. 37:22car made in Saudi
  948. 37:25Arabia no have you seen any electron ICS
  949. 37:27made in Saudi Arabia okay have you seen
  950. 37:30any internet service or product made in
  951. 37:32Saudi Arabia I haven't seen that okay
  952. 37:35you call the Saudi Arabia thir country
  953. 37:38no but they are full of infrastructure
  954. 37:42it working how do they do
  955. 37:46it okay but like like so are you I can't
  956. 37:51answer that question but I'm posing
  957. 37:52another question are you saying that
  958. 37:54they have that capability they don't
  959. 37:55have it so
  960. 37:58okay the difference so what would the
  961. 38:00what would the fish do to get the fruits
  962. 38:03the fish would employ the skills of the
  963. 38:05monkey and say bring it down you get 10%
  964. 38:07I get
  965. 38:0990% the problem is you're trying to do
  966. 38:12it yourself because you look outside and
  967. 38:14you think others can do it we can do it
  968. 38:15it's not true I lived in Kenya for 5
  969. 38:18years straight five years I live on a
  970. 38:21compound of about 2.5 acres of land
  971. 38:23trees
  972. 38:25everywhere for 5 years
  973. 38:28the trees the leaves never fell winter
  974. 38:31never came spring never came my wardrobe
  975. 38:35was the same wardrobe okay cotton shed
  976. 38:38by 11:00 a.m. I'm on the
  977. 38:42compound Africa is the only tropical
  978. 38:45continent on
  979. 38:46Earth have you seen any country that is
  980. 38:49industrialized and is
  981. 38:53tropical no have you seen any country
  982. 38:56that have for seasons and it looks like
  983. 38:58Sudan or
  984. 39:00Salo no okay you see where I'm
  985. 39:04going the only thing we didn't have and
  986. 39:07don't have is natural threat Africa
  987. 39:09never suffered it it's the most
  988. 39:11comfortable environment ever you don't
  989. 39:14have to draw the water and store it cuz
  990. 39:17it never
  991. 39:22freezes I see but if you are born in a
  992. 39:26place like here
  993. 39:27every 3 months your brain is worried so
  994. 39:31not because they smart it's just they
  995. 39:34have typhoon hurricanes tsunamis Titanic
  996. 39:37play shakes earthquakes winter up to
  997. 39:40here killing people Springs hardcore
  998. 39:43four what do you
  999. 39:50have nothing ever
1000. 39:53threatens and when that happens over
1001. 39:56millions of years the brain doesn't even
1002. 39:59predict no Africa is predictable so we
  1003. 40:02just stay comfortable that's
1004. 40:06cor so do you think that's an issue like
1005. 40:10with us like I I'm not just for Nigeria
1006. 40:12but like some African countries where
1007. 40:14like comfortable in our own like space
1008. 40:17thinking yes people are people want what
1009. 40:19we got but just saying I'm not develop
1010. 40:21the only time that you became this and
1011. 40:23people can point fingers is because like
1012. 40:25you two said the only time I I knew my
1013. 40:27country was not developed is when I came
  1014. 40:29to the Western world but you're not a
1015. 40:30western world no wonder our people
1016. 40:32bleach because they think if they become
1017. 40:34white enough they can change their
  1018. 40:38environment and with
1019. 40:42that it was a great session thank you so
1020. 40:45much all right come on now let's give
  1021. 40:47them some
  1022. 40:48uh Applause
