- 0:11well Chris thank you so much for coming
- 0:14uh to host my show uh I've read your
- 0:16notes and uh it's exciting so please uh
- 0:19let's get it going for the show yeah
- 0:22thanks all right so uh I heard you said
- 0:24you have some issue with my stand that
- 0:26there is no such thing as white
- 0:28privilege uh can you let me know which
- 0:30part of it do you disagree or have
- 0:33issues with sure um if you wouldn't mind
- 0:35just discussing your just laying it out
- 0:38what you believe and then I can go Point
- 0:40by point I see so it's not a question of
- 0:42belief because uh this this terminology
- 0:45or whatever it phrase just started
- 0:46popping up not too long ago and uh is
- 0:49Catching Fire and on and on and um I
- 0:52have thought about few things that I
- 0:54think we should discuss to find out if
- 0:56this is real or not real and one of them
- 0:58is what is that privilege that the white
- 1:02people have over others what is it who
- 1:05gave it to them where did they buy
- 1:07it uh privilege is something either by
- 1:10birth by social status or maybe by
- 1:14inheritance so what is it they have that
- 1:16we don't have what is it that they have
- 1:18the privilege that we don't have those
- 1:20are the questions I think will make this
- 1:22conversation uh interesting okay that's
- 1:25fair um so I guess uh my definition of
- 1:28white privilege would be benefits that
- 1:30you'd get from your uh status as a white
- 1:33person that would be across a variety of
- 1:36different um sort of domains economic
- 1:38you know educational um housing uh
- 1:41that's basically there are more as well
- 1:43but that's essentially the gist of my my
- 1:45definition um and who is it recognized
- 1:47by uh well I guess it would be
- 1:49recognized by everyone uh it's not
- 1:51something that's simply uh asserted it's
- 1:53not folks something where folks just
- 1:54asserted that it exists and it happened
- 1:57um it's something that it's a term that
- 1:59was was founded in order to describe a
- 2:01specific phenomenon and that's society
- 2:04as a whole uh has a tendency to ACR
- 2:06certain benefits to white folks solely
- 2:08due to uh the fact that they're white
- 2:10and it's easy to say well where does
- 2:12this come from I think it comes from a
- 2:13white supremacist culture and how that
- 2:15culture sort of pervades every aspect of
- 2:18life um and political systems and
- 2:20economic functioning and things along
- 2:21those lines um and it's something that
- 2:24no one can really escape from like so so
- 2:26so you're saying that anyone who is born
- 2:29and born White would automatically have
- 2:31privileges so the question is is it
- 2:34man-made or is it natural oh it's it's
- 2:37absolutely manmade so how is it if it's
- 2:39man-made then why do we have to say that
- 2:41they have these privileges based on skin
- 2:44color if it's man-made then why can't
- 2:46blacks do the same thing why can't
- 2:48Asians do the same thing and have the
- 2:50same privileges if it's man-made then
- 2:51what prevents us from not having the
- 2:53privilege to do it I think that's a
- 2:55great um question on one end Society
- 2:58constrains us and societal beliefs
- 3:00aren't just out of thin air or solely
- 3:03aren't poofed out of thin air or solely
- 3:05you know inside one particular person um
- 3:07it's the culture that you're exposed to
- 3:09it's the institutions that you're
- 3:10exposed to um it's the ideologies that
- 3:12you're exposed to it's a media culture
- 3:15where it's primarily run by white folks
- 3:17uh it's primarily funded by white folks
- 3:18and employed by white folks well this is
- 3:20a white country right it is a white
- 3:21country we must agree it is a white
- 3:23country what I mean is that white people
- 3:24from other places came here founded a
- 3:26place made it into a republic and then
- 3:28it attracted people from other places
- 3:30but I'm thinking that people are saying
- 3:32we are not on the same level with white
- 3:33people therefore they have a privilege
- 3:35and what I am struggling with is this
- 3:37you said it's man-made if it is man-made
- 3:39why can't the other colors do it too
- 3:42that is one how is it man-made now let
- 3:45me ask you do blacks give white people
- 3:47privileges do blacks give white people
- 3:49well no it's not white people giving
- 3:51white people privileges or black people
- 3:52giving black people privileges it's the
- 3:54entire societal structure as a whole
- 3:55that get the Privileges from that black
- 3:57people can't get the privilege what is
- 4:00that what I was explaining the
- 4:01institutions the ideologies what
- 4:04institutions today in America the last
- 4:0650 years says that a black man cannot do
- 4:09this or do that or do this what is it
- 4:11now if white people have
- 4:13these Untouchable privileges how come in
- 4:17other areas that then they can go
- 4:19everywhere which means for example the
- 4:20NBA that privilege should make them
- 4:22become the ones who predominate the NBA
- 4:24the NFL 100 met ATL a whole lot of
- 4:28things why why why do we have black
- 4:31people predominate these parts of
- 4:33society and do well in it so which areas
- 4:36which areas for example do the black
- 4:38people don't have the privilege just
- 4:40give me a list of it okay sure so I feel
- 4:42like you're moving across different
- 4:44questions here um so I want to sort of
- 4:46redirect it to the original question
- 4:48where you talk about it being man-made
- 4:50then why can't no you said he's
- 4:52man-made I ask is it man-made or is it
- 4:55natural that once you have a skin color
- 4:57white skin color you automatically have
- 4:59privileges is that a case two is this
- 5:03white privilege that you are white
- 5:04therefore you have privilege is it
- 5:06peculiar to America or is just anywhere
- 5:09any white country I think it's the
- 5:12context is dependent so it's what's
- 5:13white privileg in one specific area is
- 5:16governed by the political culture of
- 5:18that area so show me a place where white
- 5:20people live and they don't have the
- 5:21Privileges you claim white Americans
- 5:23have where do you know on Earth where
- 5:26black brown green people who live there
- 5:27have the same privileges with white
- 5:29people is there any place like that
- 5:32that's not my area of expertise my area
- 5:34of experti is America so I wouldn't say
- 5:36hey this country they don't have white
- 5:37privilege of this country they won't why
- 5:39lived in many white countries I've lived
- 5:42in Asia I've traveled quite white and I
- 5:44have never seen a place where we say oh
- 5:46the people who live there they are all
- 5:47equal they are all on the same plane
- 5:49never at
- 5:50all but when I hear the word White
- 5:53Privilege what it sounds to me is that
- 5:55if you are born white you automatically
- 5:57will have privileges black people don't
- 5:59get give white people privileges you
- 6:00said where do they get it from and why
- 6:02can't we get it you said it's because of
- 6:04the institutions what institutions in
- 6:06America today prevent a black man from
- 6:08going to school joining the Army joining
- 6:10the police being a volunteer firefighter
- 6:13uh Run 100 meters why it never prevents
- 6:15them from playing on the NBA in the NFL
- 6:17Running doing anything okay how many
- 6:20blacks should be at the top 1% for you
- 6:22to say that yes we have the previlege is
- 6:24Oprah Winfrey is she privileged or not
- 6:27okay so we're moving across a variet
- 6:29different questions and not getting back
- 6:31to the original what do you mean by if
- 6:33you are born quiet so you're saying
- 6:35let's do it this way if you say by being
- 6:38born white you have privilege what are
- 6:39we saying to black
- 6:41kids you're essentially telling them
- 6:43that there are things that are outside
- 6:44of their control like what that couldn't
- 6:46prevent okay for example let's CU you
- 6:50keep on moving to very different
- 6:51questions that are very let me stay on
- 6:53White Privilege white people born white
- 6:55have privileges in America you said we
- 6:57should make it specifically America all
- 6:59right what do we tell black kids since
- 7:01you're not born white what okay so I'm
- 7:03going to start off with the man-made
- 7:05aspect okay everything we do essentially
- 7:09that's related to the social realm is is
- 7:11man-made like and when you think of it
- 7:13this way are you you're you're taller
- 7:15than me right yeah um there are folks
- 7:17that are taller than other folks yes has
- 7:20our society
- 7:21been organized around that I'm not sure
- 7:26if I don't play in the NBA I'm tall but
- 7:28it's useless I can be play play
- 7:29basketball I don't make money out of it
- 7:32and by that I should be a little bit
- 7:33more specific are there cultures of
- 7:35mainly or almost
- 7:37exclusively um tall people is there a
- 7:40was there gym Crow where tall folks and
- 7:42short people couldn't live together had
- 7:45to be subservient to other folks can
- 7:47only um sort of uh be confined to
- 7:50certain uh positions in specific
- 7:52workplaces and what no one area I've
- 7:55seen Short guys don't score girls as
- 7:56much as tall guys okay fair enough um
- 8:00well the point I'm making is that but
- 8:02you're talking about something that is
- 8:03natural nobody says that if you're tall
- 8:05you are therefore guilty white skin is
- 8:07not made by white people they were born
- 8:09white they live in their own country so
- 8:12if you remove if you remove all the
- 8:13white people from America move them to
- 8:16Japan and bring all Japanese to America
- 8:18do you think Japanese and blacks will be
- 8:19on the equal
- 8:21level would there be yellow I'm going to
- 8:23get back to my original point so I can
- 8:24answer one of your questions before you
- 8:26C me with another do is that I'm not
- 8:28able to tell you this plus this I can
- 8:32only question the conclusions we have
- 8:34arrived at that's what we do on rethink
- 8:36project rethink we question the
- 8:37conclusions and I'm saying if you say
- 8:40that white people have privilege then we
- 8:41have to question that conclusion that's
- 8:44what I'm trying to do if you move white
- 8:45people out of America and you bring
- 8:47Japanese to take their place are you
- 8:49saying that it will become yellow
- 8:51privilege or then black and Japanese
- 8:53will be
- 8:54unequal second what second tell me what
- 8:58black people don't have in America
- 9:00because they live with white people that
- 9:02they have in Africa the motherland from
- 9:04where they come from tell me how the
- 9:06conditions there are better because they
- 9:08have Privileges and it's different from
- 9:10here then I can say it's true that white
- 9:12people have privilege over black people
- 9:14if where they come from is better than
- 9:16where they live now show me one place in
- 9:18Africa where the blacks who live
- 9:21here because of the white people they
- 9:23don't have the privilege where the
- 9:25continent they have it where I'll say
- 9:27two things it's not related to my
- 9:29argument I don't know if it's related to
- 9:30your argument but it's not related to my
- 9:32argument because I'm talking about
- 9:33institutions structures cult explain it
- 9:37to me you know
- 9:39since the Advent of the you know
- 9:42transatlantic slave trade since
- 9:44colonization I think we can pretend and
- 9:47even things that that we've talked about
- 9:48before like parthe we can pretend that
- 9:50just because there's a black majority in
- 9:53a in a country that it's run by black
- 9:57folks but as we know with Western s
- 10:00liberal democracy
- 10:01is
- 10:03funding um you know control the
- 10:06political parties um resources things
- 10:10along those lines all affect how much
- 10:13input folks have in those who are not
- 10:15white it affects it's negative No
- 10:17affects everyone it it affects
- 10:18everyone's access to political
- 10:19institutions and their abilities to REM
- 10:22political institutions yeah all that St
- 10:24you know then where is the privilege we
- 10:25talking about well I'm I'm referring to
- 10:28how I'm referring to
- 10:30so basically disparities what
- 10:33institutions have prevented a black man
- 10:35from doing something we not talking
- 10:36about a time when they were brought at
- 10:37slaves of course everywhere slavery
- 10:40happened in Africa among tribes between
- 10:42tribes in Europe northern Europe uh you
- 10:46name it
- 10:47Asia if you are the slave you're not
- 10:49going to have the same equality with a
- 10:51slave owner no just like a guest in a
- 10:53house doesn't have the same right with
- 10:55the owner of the place so I'm asking you
- 10:57show me one thing with without the white
- 11:00privilege that blacks could have become
- 11:02and what is the frame of reference to
- 11:04say that what is it what institutions
- 11:06are preventing the black people from
- 11:08attaining what you think has been taken
- 11:10away from them because somebody was born
- 11:11white is what I want to understand White
- 11:14Privilege the prefix to the word
- 11:16privilege is white which means because
- 11:17you were born
- 11:19white who is giving the person you're
- 11:21saying white people cannot all the
- 11:23inventions Innovations the structures
- 11:26they built countries they founded even
- 11:27the ability to colonize other places
- 11:29they did it just because they white they
- 11:31have no capability that's not what I'm
- 11:33saying what is giving them the privilege
- 11:35then what's giving them the the
- 11:37privilege are the way those institutions
- 11:39operate the way without those
- 11:40institutions you are saying why people
- 11:41would have
- 11:42failed yes in order and show me one
- 11:44country where they
- 11:46failed what the argument that I'm making
- 11:48by that which I don't think you're
- 11:49grasping
- 11:51is is interesting to me without those
- 11:54institutions without the Privileges why
- 11:57people would have failed without social
- 11:58institutions yes yes social phenomenon
- 12:00would not have widespread social
- 12:02phenomenon would not happen which is why
- 12:04that's not a very okay so show me an
- 12:06example where it never happened until
- 12:08they started having privileges like when
- 12:10I don't think you're understanding the
- 12:11fact that I'm just broadly explaining
- 12:13that social phenomenon eminates from
- 12:16pre-existing cultures from social
- 12:18institutions from uh ideologies so
- 12:22everything yes so me saying oh well you
- 12:24know if there wasn't for these specific
- 12:25ideologies it wouldn't happen yeah
- 12:27that's anything anything let go back
- 12:30let's go back to the question White
- 12:32Privilege I said there's no such thing
- 12:34it was made up by of course rightfully
- 12:37so when blacks look at where they are
- 12:40compared to white people they think that
- 12:42there's something that has been taken
- 12:43away from them nobody talks about
- 12:44capabilities okay the the white
- 12:46inventions Innovations building of
- 12:48countries republics establishment
- 12:50businesses okay even the countries they
- 12:52colonized in Africa all of us and you
- 12:55talk to any African who is 65 years and
- 12:56old I will tell you our countries were
- 12:58more
- 12:59structured and when they left things
- 13:01started falling apart South Africa is an
- 13:03example of it I just came back last year
- 13:06so I'm asking you where in the world
- 13:09white people have failed because they
- 13:11don't have privileges see I was trying
- 13:13to expound on that point and then you
- 13:14moved it off another question so the
- 13:16point I'm making is that and this is
- 13:18what I was talking about with respect to
- 13:19disparities and resources and control of
- 13:22the political system and things along
- 13:23those lines so you're saying oh things
- 13:25are worse now that white folks left
- 13:26ignoring the fact that due to the fact
- 13:29that in Western liberal democracies if
- 13:31you have funding if you have control
- 13:33over political parties if you
- 13:34haveour you're saying so why do we call
- 13:36it white
- 13:37privilege because it's white folks
- 13:39benefit from this white supremacist
- 13:41system these white supremacist systems
- 13:43institutions so we call it white
- 13:44privilege because they benefit they get
- 13:46uneed benefits in their own country
- 13:48what's up in their own country in their
- 13:50own country other countries culture the
- 13:52laws they made by themselves when they
- 13:54build this place when they arrive here
- 13:56there was no white privilege or
- 13:57non-white privilege they arrived I mean
- 13:59there was Anglo Saxon privilege
- 14:01eventually privilege why do you keep
- 14:03saying it's privilege somebody they
- 14:05institution specifically around how is
- 14:07my relationship my religious skin color
- 14:10ethnic relationship for immigration so
- 14:14there were a variety of immigration laws
- 14:16around the 19 uh 10s and 1920s that uh
- 14:19revolved around racial quota systems at
- 14:22that point the racial system was a lot
- 14:24was very different than what we think of
- 14:25now because again race is fiction it's
- 14:28purely something that's social
- 14:29phenomenon at that point it was useful
- 14:31to think of race as not only between
- 14:33whites
- 14:34blacks at the time like Mongolians or
- 14:37sometimes they would call them yellow um
- 14:38you know Native Americans it also
- 14:41brought into each other like it also
- 14:42brought into this framework this Nordic
- 14:45tonic um and then like Southern European
- 14:48racial classifications and then also
- 14:50like nationalities were thought of as
- 14:51racist as well um so at that particular
- 14:54point in time there was a lot of eugenic
- 14:56thinking that essentially said if we
- 14:57want the American race again absurd
- 14:59since America's what couple centuries
- 15:02long but their conf but basically their
- 15:04Viewpoint their conception of race it's
- 15:06very different than today um to where
- 15:08they thought that if you get you know
- 15:09the Anglo-Saxon race uh the most
- 15:11predominant population po prominant uh
- 15:14part of the Immigrant population Anglo
- 15:16saction Heritage or Nordic Heritage then
- 15:18it's going to lead to much better
- 15:19outcomes who is who is making this these
- 15:22are so some were eugenicists that were
- 15:24in private um domains like researchers
- 15:27or things sometimes Oran it was also
- 15:30cult belief political institions uh a
- 15:34grab of power you said because white
- 15:36people have all these it gives them
- 15:38privilege isn't it that's that's your
- 15:39explanation they were in control of
- 15:41their political power yeah of course
- 15:43they should be because it's their
- 15:44country you can't go to Japan and say
- 15:46Japanese are in control the political
- 15:47power if you're a black person or if
- 15:48you're white that I'm drawing our
- 15:50attention to is the laws that were
- 15:53specifically the benefit group people
- 15:55that were looking like them or people
- 15:56that they believed had the same racial
- 15:58categorization as them which at that
- 15:59point was Anglo Saxon uh and then
- 16:01eventually we moved past I think it was
- 16:03around I understand but if Anglo Saxons
- 16:05they moved here and they founded this
- 16:06country meaning found it simply means
- 16:08that they name it they draw boundaries
- 16:10and they said this is where we are going
- 16:11to leave this is the primary owner of
- 16:14this place the host whether he killed
- 16:15people unfortunately and he made it his
- 16:18home anyone who comes you have to live
- 16:20on the laws he's made same thing is
- 16:21happening in China same thing is
- 16:22happening in Japan in South Korea
- 16:24everywhere Russia that's as simple as
- 16:26that why would you the visitor whether
- 16:27you were brought by force or you came
- 16:29voluntarily claim after some time that
- 16:31why am I not having the same privilege
- 16:33with you who told you you could you're
- 16:35different you are not talking about
- 16:37white capability the things they have
- 16:38done before they even brought people
- 16:40here you're not talking about that
- 16:42you're simply saying that blacks have
- 16:44the capability to be at the same place
- 16:47white are if not because of the laws
- 16:50they have made the institutions they
- 16:51have put in place the political power
- 16:53they have I say show me one thing and
- 16:55somewhere where white have failed
- 16:57because they didn't put those itions
- 16:59into place where now answer my question
- 17:02what is the privilege of all the black
- 17:04countries in Africa in the Caribbean
- 17:05Haiti included Jamaica there are no
- 17:08white people there holding them down
- 17:09what is the privilege I feel like you've
- 17:11missed couple of my correct me put me on
- 17:13the road okay so the point we I'm making
- 17:15with the disparities with respect to
- 17:17income and the control over the
- 17:18political economic system it's not based
- 17:20on capability it's not based on ability
- 17:22it's based on historical record no that
- 17:24is not true that was the case then
- 17:26Africa has so when the when apthe ends
- 17:28right and there's these all these 39
- 17:31million blacks live in South Africa
- 17:33about 2.8 million white people okay and
- 17:36almost South Africa look like an
- 17:38European country there was never power
- 17:39shortage now they have what is called
- 17:41load shedding which means power comes
- 17:43home for 4 hours and it goes off there's
- 17:45no water system the roads are breaking
- 17:46railway lines all condemned it used to
- 17:49have one of the most impressive rail
- 17:51network in South
- 17:53Africa 32 years ago January 5th
- 17:561990 power 100% in the hands of
- 18:00blacks so you see what is going on so
- 18:02you're saying that all of industry was
- 18:04nationalized there's no more in in South
- 18:06Africa you're claiming that there's no
- 18:08more Private Industry there Private
- 18:10Industry is there white run Private
- 18:11Industry in South Africa yes I'm saying
- 18:13I am saying 32 years ago they gave it to
- 18:15blacks and today we have load shedding
- 18:17electricity can work properly water is
- 18:18not flowing the railway lines trains are
- 18:21dead on the tracks I want to tell you
- 18:23this you got to understand whether there
- 18:25are white people there or not as you've
- 18:26seen here look at that's your
- 18:29distinction you're the one who's solely
- 18:30saying that white people black people
- 18:32now that white I'm arguing against that
- 18:34so you're this doesn't Advance
- 18:35conversation because you're what I've
- 18:36seen is this in my travels when I meet
- 18:39people outside their original domain or
- 18:41habitat for example I meet Japanese in
- 18:43America or in Canada or I meet Africans
- 18:46in America England or Canada what I do
- 18:48first by knowing if there's something
- 18:50wrong with you I look at the place from
- 18:51where you are coming if the place look
- 18:54better than where you are I know
- 18:55something happened here what is it that
- 18:58has happened to black people here that
- 19:00they are worse off than the continent
- 19:03what is it see this is the issue here
- 19:06like there's no fundamental agre point
- 19:08of saying white has privilege if you
- 19:10can't answer that question if you cannot
- 19:11explain that I've been trying to the
- 19:13point explain to me what is it about
- 19:16black people here that can tell you that
- 19:18something went wrong if you compare them
- 19:20to the continent what is it I would not
- 19:23make that comparison
- 19:24AB the person you are comparing them to
- 19:27has privilege
- 19:29because of the institutions you made
- 19:31that up to explain why you think you are
- 19:33this is your conception of white white
- 19:36privilege and how folks came to reason
- 19:38white privilege and you're continuing to
- 19:39base your respons to me off of your own
- 19:42conception despite the fact that I'm
- 19:43trying to cons explain my own conception
- 19:45of white privilege which is that white
- 19:47people have the power number two they
- 19:49put institutions and laws into place to
- 19:51make black people not be at the same top
- 19:54like them or Asian people I have not
- 19:56seen the Japanese who live in America
- 19:58quite a huge number of them complaining
- 20:00that they're not doing well because of
- 20:01white privilege I've not seen the
- 20:03Koreans the Chinese the the the Arabs or
- 20:05anybody complain comparing two very
- 20:07different populations one was force
- 20:09migration where black folks were stolen
- 20:11from where Africans were stolen from
- 20:12yeah Indians and Chinese came here as
- 20:14indentured Slaves by the British but
- 20:15they is absolutely not true until 1965
- 20:18the last the vast majority of there were
- 20:19very few Asian folks and much less
- 20:22Indian folks that were actually that
- 20:24were migrating to uh America and what I
- 20:27was trying to explain where there was
- 20:29these racial quota systems that totally
- 20:31excluded Japanese you know any Asian
- 20:33folks from coming in there excluded
- 20:35mainly Africans from coming here unless
- 20:37it was under a specific um nationality
- 20:40so if it was like you were subject of
- 20:41Britain you can come through that way
- 20:42but that wasn't the intention um and uh
- 20:46and until 1965 that was when they were
- 20:48allowed to come in but it's very let me
- 20:49just finish this okay you can pretend
- 20:52that a population questions I'm asking
- 20:56questions for you to help me come to
- 20:58your s that indeed there is White
- 21:00Privilege I am asking the word white
- 21:02coming as a prefix to privilege mean
- 21:04that if you have a white skin you have
- 21:06privilege in America I ask you if it's
- 21:07man-made or natural you told me it's
- 21:10manmade then I ask you then why can't
- 21:11other people make it too America blacks
- 21:13are free in America today they had a
- 21:16black president a black first lady oh
- 21:18they predominate many sections of
- 21:20America which area is it that black
- 21:23people are not or don't have the access
- 21:25that makes you keep thinking that being
- 21:27born white is a PR
- 21:29it's the fact that you are born white is
- 21:31a privilege or the white skin makes you
- 21:33do things others can do or no you just
- 21:36get things just because you're white
- 21:38even though you don't have the
- 21:39capability then name one failed white
- 21:43country so I can understand that these
- 21:46aren't these aren't related to your
- 21:48original question andal you're not
- 21:50letting meish as quite privileged that
- 21:52is a statement I made you ask me about
- 21:54one specific phenomenon about white
- 21:55privilege about oh where where do you
- 21:58know white folks uh gain privilege in
- 22:01one specific domain and while I'm trying
- 22:03to explain the immigration you're
- 22:04cutting me off and why would it be
- 22:05immigration they migrated to this
- 22:07country and established this Republic
- 22:09and we come on to it I came here as an
- 22:11immigrant because it attracted me and I
- 22:14came why should I be why should I be
- 22:16looking at myself to say I should be on
- 22:18the same LEL that's another issue I have
- 22:20you clearly like right now you're
- 22:22describing white privilege and you're
- 22:23saying that there's no issue with it
- 22:24you're saying yeah so white people can
- 22:26migrate here um at a much higher rate
- 22:28despite having the same complication or
- 22:30the same qualications don't believe that
- 22:32three or four different races were were
- 22:34were in a race to migrate to America
- 22:36they came here they found the land they
- 22:38came they and and they established a
- 22:40republic they didn't say join us it's a
- 22:43race we are going to we see who gets
- 22:45their first Haitians claim that they've
- 22:47been the first black country 200 years
- 22:49ago to gain
- 22:50independence they leave the govern
- 22:52themselves where is the privilege in
- 22:54Haiti is there any black privilege if I
- 22:57live in Africa privilege answer this
- 23:00question and I will move to your side
- 23:02one if it's
- 23:04manmade who made it who gives the white
- 23:07the privilege you said because a large
- 23:10majority of white hold power they build
- 23:12institutions okay but why does it keep
- 23:15attracting people to come here and no
- 23:18other group of people are ever
- 23:20complaining about the white privilege
- 23:21except black because they think that
- 23:23they are at the bottom of the two Tempo
- 23:25which is not true things are done by
- 23:28people by Race by People based on your
- 23:31ability that's Heaven is not just for
- 23:34anyone if they put you in heaven you
- 23:35don't have the ability to remain there
- 23:37you will
- 23:39quit Okay so privilege meaning blacks by
- 23:43you're saying in America black and white
- 23:46are supposed to have equal access to
- 23:48everything is that what you're saying I
- 23:50say in a in a world where racism doesn't
- 23:52exist racism doesn't
- 23:54exist people will have equal access to
- 23:56everything so why equal outcomes unless
- 23:59you believe that one race is more is
- 24:01superior and other races are inferior
- 24:04what sense does racial stratification in
- 24:06anything mean I never believe that one
- 24:07race is superior to the other I know
- 24:09races are different no I'm asking you a
- 24:11question now yes if you don't believe
- 24:13racial stratification uh is a sign of
- 24:16racism then what would this racial
- 24:18stratification be based on
- 24:20stratification what are you talking
- 24:21about racial stratification
- 24:23stratification means different outcomes
- 24:25among different races well you said
- 24:26different races would you expect the
- 24:27same outcome from The Lion and the
- 24:30antop they both work on four legs they
- 24:32have Fair on their body they have a tail
- 24:34do you
- 24:35expect Antelope qu you believe in
- 24:38essential qualities and characteristics
- 24:39that certain races have characteristics
- 24:42abilities based on where you come from
- 24:44simple the people of the northern Rift
- 24:47of Kenya will beat everybody and anybody
- 24:49in Marathon you can't deny that since
- 24:511936 Carl Owens beat everybody
- 24:54scientifically trained Germans were
- 24:55beaten by Carl Owens in 100 meters and
- 24:58then from there it was black guy black
- 25:00guy black guy today you can't boast that
- 25:02Ali was not the best boxer he told you
- 25:04he was Superior you want to try get into
- 25:06the ring with them yes I believe that
- 25:08racis and people we have different
- 25:10structures because you can expect the
- 25:11same outcome from The Lion and the
- 25:13antelope they they not different from
- 25:15human beings they're they're different
- 25:17species no they're not different species
- 25:19they are different species but um they
- 25:22both are mammals you and I are humans
- 25:24but we have different abilities
- 25:26intellectually physically yes
- 25:29a dog and a human is a mammal but we're
- 25:31not the same species we're not the same
- 25:32speci I'm saying you don't expect the
- 25:34same outcome from The Lion and the
- 25:36antelope but they are both mamals and
- 25:38they are animals they live in the animal
- 25:40kingdom we are humans but we're
- 25:41different in capabilities why is it the
- 25:43north reft of Kenya is good in marathan
- 25:46why are Chinese good in aerobics why are
- 25:49Russians very good in ballet and
- 25:51classical dance why are blacks very good
- 25:53in very muscular Sports we're different
- 25:56but if you expose us
- 25:58to one thing and you're using that to
- 26:00determine what is equality then some
- 26:03people would fail and that is what
- 26:04you're doing it's like asking the monkey
- 26:06and the fish should determine that
- 26:07climbing is the only way to determine
- 26:09superiority well the monkey will be
- 26:10superior for the rest of its
- 26:13life okay so there is no white privilege
- 26:16white people live in their country a
- 26:18place they have been able to build it
- 26:21there is no question about that based on
- 26:23their ability to differently we we have
- 26:27about a Century's worth of studies that
- 26:29try to see if there's any genetic basis
- 26:31of racism uh or not R sorry not racism
- 26:34genetic basis of races where if you can
- 26:36there's more genetic diversity within
- 26:38races than there is across races which
- 26:39kind of makes sense since black folks
- 26:41have been around for quite a bit longer
- 26:42than other folks so I I I don't have to
- 26:45do I don't have to do no you're going to
- 26:47catch me there if you begin to bring is
- 26:49it a scientific fact no no it does if
- 26:51you're claiming that there are essential
- 26:52differences and you're basing it off the
- 26:54fact that we no we're different species
- 26:56are making scientificity of the things
- 26:58things we do and we have concluded in
- 27:00this world based on observations I'm a
- 27:01very sophisticated thinker and I have
- 27:03traveled very widely and I've have seen
- 27:04things enough to convince me that yes I
- 27:07don't need a scientific proof to say the
- 27:09reason every white country looks very
- 27:11even in one country go to the Suburbia
- 27:14it's cleaner quieter organized go to the
- 27:17urban it's not we trash our streets
- 27:19because we don't have privilege we don't
- 27:21know how to clean our own slips we throw
- 27:23Grandma's microwave outside we packk our
- 27:25cars and repair it there and spill the
- 27:27floor with oil we don't pay attention to
- 27:28our children we would rather go and use
- 27:30the money to buy boom boxes in our car
- 27:32yes every race every group of people
- 27:35have setting abilities they no there's
- 27:38none that's inferior and none as
- 27:39Superior even though in your definition
- 27:41these white folks they Lear they take
- 27:42care of their neighborhoods yes but
- 27:45they're playing their G Blas culture and
- 27:47all based on culture oh it's okay that
- 27:49is why the 54 countries in one continent
- 27:52you want to tell me so it's an essential
- 27:53first it's essential and now it's
- 27:54culture you want to tell me that it is
- 27:57possible phenomena would hit 54
- 28:00countries equally in one
- 28:02continent even the most crudest
- 28:05probability something will
- 28:07change one continent of One race Africa
- 28:11the largest because of number of
- 28:12countries 54 all of them uniformly
- 28:15constantly suffer the same thing you go
- 28:18to the Caribbean the Black countes there
- 28:21you go to UK the black community is
- 28:23there you see everything it's almost
- 28:25like there's this overarching white
- 28:27supremacist
- 28:29stolen resources for centuries oh and we
- 28:32don't know how to steal we allow them to
- 28:35come to our continents and steal we
- 28:36don't know how to steal well that also
- 28:38I'm saying there is no such thing that
- 28:40one fation doesn't exist a party doesn't
- 28:42exist I don't know why we're saying
- 28:45Australia was colonized New Zealand was
- 28:46colonized United States how the indigen
- 28:48how is the indigenous population doing
- 28:50in Australia as poorly as population
- 28:53here we go I am saying to you the
- 28:54northern part of UK slaves and colonized
- 28:58a today because the one thing happening
- 29:01in America that nobody is talking about
- 29:03the United States of America Remain the
- 29:05only place right now on Earth where
- 29:08former slaves or you know descendants of
- 29:10slaves are the only place where the skin
- 29:12color is different in the northern part
- 29:15of Europe slavery large number than the
- 29:18ones that are in America but when
- 29:19slavery was over because they had the
- 29:21same skin color they Blended you can't
- 29:23tell who was a slave and who was not a
- 29:25slave gone Asia the same thing
- 29:30in Asia there was slavery but when it
- 29:32was over you can't tell who was once a
- 29:34slave and who was not so the anger is
- 29:36gone in the United States unfortunately
- 29:38for this country the blacks remained
- 29:40here and every day they wake up to see
- 29:42their skin color and that it reminds
- 29:43them how they got here hold on and that
- 29:45is where the anger is and for you to
- 29:47explain like a boogeyman everybody
- 29:49create to explain why they are the third
- 29:51round or they are the bottom of the to
- 29:52Tempo you have to create white supremacy
- 29:55white privilege to explain that because
- 29:57they are white that's why they are doing
- 29:58well you are affirming what you like
- 30:01about them only you want you don't want
- 30:03I don't mean you but you they don't want
- 30:04to admit it and then they say oh the
- 30:06reason they're doing well is because
- 30:08they're white that's where it came from
- 30:10that is your imagination of what the
- 30:12conception of white privilege is no
- 30:14because you haven't succeeded in
- 30:16explaining to me so the invisible nap
- 30:17napsack have you ever read the invisible
- 30:18napsack no please okay well that was the
- 30:20where the that's who wrot where the term
- 30:23Peggy um Macintosh I believe yeah um but
- 30:28that's where the term comes from okay
- 30:30and she explains feggy was who she was a
- 30:33uh she was an academic writer I believe
- 30:35no but of what she was white she was
- 30:37white um so it's one of those things
- 30:38where it's just like if you don't read
- 30:40the original piece and go through
- 30:41history original why that's where the
- 30:44term that's where the term was yeah
- 30:45that's her conclusions on her opinion
- 30:47but I'm saying that why people are doing
- 30:48so well it must be an insult for me to
- 30:50sit in front of her and she tells me I
- 30:52have a privilege and what am
- 30:54I that's purely your reaction to it
- 30:59have continued not you but the people
- 31:02who believe that oh white people are
- 31:03doing well they organize themselves
- 31:05their towns are good because they are
- 31:07white what you're telling black kids
- 31:08you're doomed forever you're not you're
- 31:11telling that there are on there are
- 31:12structures that are preventing them from
- 31:13succeeding they're not going to become
- 31:14white like Michael Jackson they will
- 31:16never try to become white like Michael
- 31:17Jackson no wonder African women are
- 31:19bleaching because they think that if
- 31:20they become white they what I'm trying
- 31:23to tell you is the statement alone is is
- 31:26false some but they created it and I
- 31:29understand the person couldn't
- 31:30understand why everywhere people with
- 31:32white skin leaves the place seems to be
- 31:35quot developed and well established so
- 31:37it must be being white makes you do
- 31:40these things simply say being a giraffe
- 31:42makes you you know taller than every
- 31:44animal so so tell me about the Jim Crow
- 31:46era in the United States slave period no
- 31:49that's not the slave period no I'm
- 31:50saying post slave post whatever Jim Crow
- 31:53yes white people are still telling black
- 31:54people we don't want to live with you
- 31:55you can't come to our school you can't
- 31:56go to school that's it every slave
- 31:59owners are just dreadfully bad people
- 32:01they will do anything to you because you
- 32:02are ever lasted until well depending on
- 32:05how you define Jim Crow but what we
- 32:07traditionally conceive of the Jim Crow
- 32:10era I would be talking about jow as a
- 32:11surprise to me if they did it to
- 32:13themselves they did it to black people
- 32:15which for me it's a natural outcome of
- 32:17you being their slave why would you even
- 32:20mention it you should expect that it
- 32:22should happen so I feel like your
- 32:23argument goes from White Privilege does
- 32:25not exist to White Privilege exists but
- 32:27it makes sense because
- 32:28it doesn't make sense because priv
- 32:30doesn't exist again before we run up no
- 32:34I have traveled and I have seen no
- 32:37single white country whether with or
- 32:39without the privilege as you said you
- 32:41you haven't seen where it failed because
- 32:43they didn't establish institutions and
- 32:45laws to benefit
- 32:47themselves I haven't seen it but I've
- 32:50seen every place self-rule by black
- 32:53people their government is black
- 32:54everything is black we disagree on the
- 32:56fact that self-rule
- 32:58when we disagree with self rer that's
- 33:00the point that I was trying to make with
- 33:01I I thought that I would have succeeded
- 33:03for you to have shown me where if black
- 33:06white didn't control institutions and
- 33:08laws which they made of course they saw
- 33:09those laws to be intelligent it doesn't
- 33:11exist that place doesn't exist so like
- 33:12you're asking me to be like okay
- 33:16failed then I will see it but it hasn't
- 33:19happened when white supremacy is an
- 33:21ideology that has taken over the entire
- 33:23world and white white uh Western
- 33:25liberalism is something that has taken
- 33:27over the entire world that's based on
- 33:28white supremacy that's not a great
- 33:30argument to say can you point to one
- 33:32place where white folks didn't do this
- 33:33and they didn't succeed there is no
- 33:35place where they didn't do it so it's
- 33:36not a great argument to have to someone
- 33:38or to respond to someone who believes
- 33:39that this is the case so in my and again
- 33:42I also want to address some of your
- 33:44points here um which you're talking
- 33:45about oh in sports you know why would we
- 33:47there's was a long time when black folks
- 33:49could not um become I can see the
- 33:52producer is giving it a sign but you've
- 33:54been a really good sport than I expected
- 33:57thank you so
- 33:58this is really good thank you thank you
- 34:00very much
