  1. 0:00For me, what is promised is more
  2. 0:02certain than what is present. The
  3. 0:05respected Abdullah says, "I asked for
  4. 0:07the glad tiding." And I set a time for
  5. 0:12it to be yesterday. I was certain, yet
  6. 0:16it did not come. Why shouldn't I say
  7. 0:19that my Lord does not answer? But why?
  8. 0:22Yes, but why didn't it come? Is this a
  9. 0:24test? Look, first, your statement about
  10. 0:27why God does not answer. Yes, it is
  11. 0:29possible that the Lord of the Worlds
  12. 0:31does not answer. I mean, God might not
  13. 0:36answer, but only to those who fail—
  14. 0:38those who fail in trust, fail in peace
  15. 0:41of mind, fail in the feeling of His
  16. 0:43companionship, or fail in their
  17. 0:45knowledge of their Lord. Nerve-wracking
  18. 0:51tension, hidden anxiety, confusion, and
  19. 0:54negative waiting—brother Abdullah, it
  20. 0:56is a state of certainty. It is a state
  21. 1:02where a person reaches a point where
  22. 1:04they see themselves as the happiest
  23. 1:05person. They see themselves as one of
  24. 1:12the luckiest people in this world; they
  25. 1:14see no one happier or more fortunate
  26. 1:16than them because they are living in
  27. 1:18the moment. This, my dear, is what we
  28. 1:25call the difference: inner joy in God,
  29. 1:27away from anything else, because I have
  30. 1:29discovered something beautiful. You
  31. 1:36know, someone might say, "I entered
  32. 1:38university to get a degree," but then,
  33. 1:40after the first semester or two,
  34. 1:42university itself becomes something
  35. 1:44beautiful. So, they are enjoying their
  36. 1:49moment. You are enjoying your unique
  37. 1:53relationship with God Almighty—that
  38. 1:55is the point. And this unique
  39. 2:03relationship with God that you enjoy
  40. 2:05makes you also enjoy the moment in
  41. 2:07which the blessing that God gave you
  42. 2:09exists. We are full of blessings; our
  43. 2:16homes, our cars, our food, our drink,
  44. 2:19our health, our well-being—I am not a
  45. 2:22prisoner, nor am I in a hospital, nor
  46. 2:24...I am now in my home, happy, eating
  47. 2:27and drinking. I do not have a serious
  48. 2:31illness, nor this, nor that. So I am
  49. 2:34happy, my happiness is in my moment.
  50. 2:37Meaning, the first level of gratitude
  51. 2:39is to enjoy happiness, to enjoy the
  52. 2:41blessing in your hands. Your enjoyment
  53. 2:46of the blessing in your hands is the
  54. 2:48path to thanking your Lord. This is the
  55. 2:52second joy. The third joy is the true,
  56. 2:56the real joy in what God has promised
  57. 2:58you. That I am happy because God
  58. 3:03promised me, promised me something. For
  59. 3:07me, what is promised is more certain
  60. 3:09than what is present. What is promised
  61. 3:12is more certain than what is present.
  62. 3:14They asked, "How?" He said, "The
  63. 3:18present is a matter of reliance on
  64. 3:20things with me." For example, this cup
  65. 3:24of coffee, praise be to God, it is with
  66. 3:26me. This is present. This is more
  67. 3:29certain to me. But what is promised is
  68. 3:31with God, and what is in God's hand is
  69. 3:34more certain than what is in mine. What
  70. 3:39is in God's hand, what God promised me
  71. 3:41—my belief in it is more certain than
  72. 3:43what is in my hand. For God does not
  73. 3:46break His promise. But this cup I am
  74. 3:48holding could break, and it could be
  75. 3:50lost. For example, if it were full of,
  76. 3:54let's say, gold. It could fall and
  77. 3:57someone could steal it from me. But
  78. 4:00what was with God, deposited with God,
  79. 4:02God Almighty does not lose it. On this
  80. 4:08basis, one who works—works on these
  81. 4:11three types of joy. He works on them,
  82. 4:17and it is certain that, first, the idea
  83. 4:19of nervous tension will not exist. The
  84. 4:24idea of negative waiting will not exist
  85. 4:26. The idea of anticipation—that I am
  86. 4:29anxiously waiting—will not exist.
  87. 4:32Exactly. So, in such a state, when he
  88. 4:35raises his hands and asks. He no longer
  89. 4:38has the thought, "Oh, let me see, did
  90. 4:40it come tomorrow or did it not come?" I
  91. 4:42want to challenge myself. No, no, no,
  92. 4:44it's fine. It's fine, I'm moving on
  93. 4:46with my life. Things are going great.
  94. 4:48Everything is fine, and I'm pushing
  95. 4:49forward. I go out and visit my
  96. 4:51relatives. I enjoy what God has
  97. 4:53bestowed upon me. In this case, let's
  98. 4:56assume, brother Abdullah, that you’ve
  99. 4:58done everything I mentioned. You might
  100. 5:01say, "Doctor, everything you mentioned
  101. 5:03has just become information to me.""
  102. 5:09I’ve applied it all, Doctor.""And
  103. 5:11praise be to God, everything is perfect
  104. 5:13." I would tell you, that's right. Now
  105. 5:17comes the turn: when you faced setbacks
  106. 5:19. Like, for example, a delay. A delay,
  107. 5:23a delay happened. Trials, call them
  108. 5:25stumbling blocks. Fine. When these
  109. 5:29stumbling blocks happened, what was the
  110. 5:31state of my heart? The heart has two
  111. 5:35states. We shouldn't pretend that we
  112. 5:38don't get affected; that’s not true.
  113. 5:40We must get affected. But immediately
  114. 5:43after being affected, fine. I turn
  115. 5:47toward God. Because I have already
  116. 5:49achieved two types of happiness.
  117. 5:51Actually, two types of happiness. My
  118. 5:53happiness with God Almighty. This is a
  119. 5:56discovery; I discovered that even my
  120. 5:58prayer used to be wrong. Not wrong, but
  121. 6:02my prayer didn't have the joy I now
  122. 6:04feel. My fasting wasn't with the joy I
  123. 6:07now feel. My night prayers weren't with
  124. 6:09the joy I now feel. So, I am happy
  125. 6:11anyway. And I am happy with the moment
  126. 6:13I am in. Because I have my car. I have
  127. 6:15my home. I have everything right now.
  128. 6:18What is competing with my happiness for
  129. 6:20the promised reward now? What is
  130. 6:23competing with it are those setbacks.
  131. 6:28So if these setbacks and delays were a
  132. 6:30reason for me to turn to God. The goal
  133. 6:35here is the turning of the soul toward
  134. 6:36God. Because I have no one but Him.
  135. 6:38Then you have succeeded in the test.
  136. 6:40Immediately, thank God, it's over. God
  137. 6:43Almighty knows. He sees that you passed
  138. 6:47the test. That’s it. If there is a
  139. 6:49regression, "I’m tired, and I’m
  140. 6:54this, and I’m that..." We tell this
  141. 6:56person, "You have lost." Be careful.
  142. 7:01And we tell him something strange and
  143. 7:03amazing, too. We tell him, and memorize
  144. 7:07this from me if you want to benefit
  145. 7:08from it. By God, no one regresses
  146. 7:12during setbacks except due to a flaw in
  147. 7:15their foundational certainty.
  148. 7:20Understand this. Meaning, no one
  149. 7:22relapses during setbacks unless they
  150. 7:24hadn't properly established their
  151. 7:26certainty. They didn't have it; it
  152. 7:29wasn't set right. Because when the
  153. 7:31setbacks came, they were exposed.
  154. 7:33Because setbacks existed in the life of
  155. 7:34the Prophet. And in the lives of the
  156. 7:36Companions, may God be pleased with
  157. 7:37them. So why didn't that happen to them
  158. 7:39? Why didn't they become like me,
  159. 7:41crying and all that? Why should I put
  160. 7:44myself in the category of: "And when
  161. 7:46the hypocrites and those in whose
  162. 7:48hearts is disease said, 'Allah and His
  163. 7:50Messenger did not promise us except
  164. 7:51delusion'"? They had a flaw because
  165. 7:53they weren't working correctly. The
  166. 7:55Companions, may God be pleased with
  167. 7:56them, were working correctly. And when
  168. 7:58the believers saw the confederates,
  169. 7:59they said, "This is what Allah and His
  170. 8:00Messenger had promised us, and Allah
  171. 8:02and His Messenger spoke the truth." And
  172. 8:03it increased them only in faith and
  173. 8:05submission. I hope you understand that.
  174. 8:07I think you will be happy with this.
  175. 8:09And you will reshape your whole
  176. 8:11situation with it, my dear sir. May God
  177. 8:13be pleased with you.
