YouTube’s NEW Algorithm Rules Just Made it EASIER to Grow on Small Channels (New YouTube Algorithm) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00YouTube just released a bunch of brand
- 0:01new algorithm updates that make it
- 0:02easier than ever before for you to be
- 0:04able to grow faster on YouTube and get
- 0:06more views because they completely
- 0:07change how they actually count views.
- 0:09They released a bunch of brand new
- 0:10settings that you need to make sure that
- 0:11you're using and so much more, but don't
- 0:13panic cuz by the end of this video
- 0:14you're going to know everything that you
- 0:15need to change. And so long as you don't
- 0:17skip any of these and change all of
- 0:18them, it's going to be easier than ever
- 0:20before for you to be able to get more
- 0:21subscribers and grow faster on YouTube.
- 0:24In fact, I just helped this creator,
- 0:25this creator, and this creator get over
- 0:27200,000 subscribers on YouTube really
- 0:30short period of time. And if you
- 0:31implement these changes, the same thing
- 0:33could happen to you. Change number one
- 0:35is that YouTube announced that they're
- 0:36going to completely change how views
- 0:39actually count on YouTube. Let me
- 0:40explain. So, here's exactly what you
- 0:42need to know. Beginning August 24th,
- 0:45YouTube is changing how it counts views
- 0:47on long-form and live. Essentially, the
- 0:50way that this is going to work now is
- 0:52once somebody actually begins to view
- 0:54something, we can see right here,
- 0:55they're going to have engaged views and
- 0:57they're just going to have views. So,
- 0:59basically, what you're going to be able
- 1:00to see now is in your YouTube analytics
- 1:03under advanced mode, you will be able to
- 1:05see engaged views, which is somebody
- 1:07that watches the first few seconds of a
- 1:09YouTube short, and for long-form videos
- 1:11and live streams, it's going to be
- 1:13somebody that watches for about 15
- 1:14seconds. But otherwise, if somebody just
- 1:16clicks on your video, they are now going
- 1:18to count as a view. Now, the reason that
- 1:19YouTube is actually changing this is
- 1:21because it makes it more similar to
- 1:24things like TikTok and Instagram because
- 1:26that's how they count views. So,
- 1:27basically, they don't want it to seem
- 1:29like you get way less views on YouTube
- 1:30versus the other platforms, which is why
- 1:32they're making this change. And this
- 1:34really isn't going to change anything
- 1:36else. You're just going to begin to see
- 1:37your view counts increase. Change number
- 1:39two is that YouTube has now made AB
- 1:41testing way more important than ever
- 1:43before, but there's a right way to do
- 1:45this and a wrong way to do this, and I
- 1:46want to make sure that you're not doing
- 1:48it wrong. Now, in terms of actually
- 1:49running AB tests, here's what you want
- 1:51to make sure that you're doing. So, now
- 1:53if we come into the details of a video,
- 1:55what you're going to notice is AB test
- 1:57right here. If we click on this, we
- 1:58could see that we could run an AB test
- 2:00for just titles. We could run an AB test
- 2:02for just thumbnails, or we could run it
- 2:04for titles and thumbnails. What I would
- 2:06strongly suggest that you do is do these
- 2:08separately. If you want to AB test your
- 2:10title, only do the title. So, if you
- 2:12want to AB test your thumbnail, only do
- 2:14the thumbnails, and you need to
- 2:15understand what you're actually looking
- 2:17for when you're doing this. So, if
- 2:18you're doing a title AB test, what you
- 2:20are actually attempting to change here
- 2:22is how many impressions your content is
- 2:25going to get, so that's how you should
- 2:26actually judge these different titles.
- 2:28You're going to do this by changing the
- 2:29keywords, changing the framing, and this
- 2:31is going to change how the YouTube
- 2:32algorithm actually push out your content
- 2:34and who they show your content to, and
- 2:36how many people they show your content
- 2:38to. If we come over to thumbnail right
- 2:39here, this is going to be testing for
- 2:41how many people actually click on your
- 2:43content, because people don't really
- 2:45look at the title and the thumbnail in
- 2:46order to click. It's really the
- 2:47thumbnail that drives the far majority
- 2:50of your clicks, and the title really
- 2:52changes how many people actually end up
- 2:54seeing your content. So, the big thing
- 2:56to take away from this is you should
- 2:57only be running one test at a time per
- 3:00YouTube video. You either do it with the
- 3:01title, or you do it the thumbnail, and
- 3:03then you can choose which one works the
- 3:05best. In addition to that, you're going
- 3:07to be able to see when you actually have
- 3:08a test live, we'll see AB test complete
- 3:11right here. And basically what we'll be
- 3:12able to do is we'll be able to click
- 3:14into the details. You could click on
- 3:15view report, and then this is going to
- 3:17show you which one actually performed
- 3:19well, which one performed better, and
- 3:21then from there, you should run a new
- 3:22test. But essentially, you should always
- 3:24have tests going on all of your content.
- 3:27Change number three is you need to make
- 3:28sure that you're actually turning on the
- 3:30right settings every single time that
- 3:31you go to upload, because there are a
- 3:33handful of different settings that you
- 3:34need to make sure are either turned on
- 3:36or turned off if you want to maximize
- 3:38your growth. Now, in terms of those
- 3:40correct settings that you want to make
- 3:41sure that you are having turned on, what
- 3:44you're going to want to do is let's say
- 3:45that we are uploading a YouTube short.
- 3:47What you want to do is actually come
- 3:49into the details, and you want to make
- 3:50sure that you have a few things right
- 3:52here. And this works both for long-form
- 3:54content and for short-form content. So,
- 3:57first and foremost, if we scroll down
- 3:59here, we're going to see AI use. If you
- 4:01used AI to make your content, please
- 4:03make sure you were disclosing it.
- 4:05YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, all the
- 4:07platforms are going to be mass banning
- 4:09people. I'm sure you've seen everybody
- 4:11talking about on Reddit. It's going to
- 4:12continue to happen, so make sure you
- 4:14were disclosing this correctly. In
- 4:16addition to that, automatic chapters,
- 4:18you want to have this turned on.
- 4:19Featured placements, you want to have
- 4:21this turned on. And automatic concepts,
- 4:23you also want to make sure that you have
- 4:24this turned on. If we scroll down a
- 4:26little bit more, you want to make sure
- 4:28that published to subscription feed to
- 4:29notify subscribers that you only have
- 4:32this enabled if your subscribers are
- 4:34actually helping you grow on YouTube.
- 4:36The way that you were actually going to
- 4:37figure this out is you could go into
- 4:39your analytics right here. You could
- 4:41come over into advanced mode, and you'll
- 4:43actually be able to see a breakout
- 4:44between your subscribers versus not
- 4:47subscribers. The way that you do that is
- 4:49by coming into your subscribers versus
- 4:51non-subscribers, and you want to see the
- 4:54opposite of what I see right here. We
- 4:56could see subscribed stayed to watch
- 4:58more frequently, but watched less. So,
- 5:00they're kind of indifferent to my
- 5:01content, but we could see not subscribed
- 5:03stayed to watch less, but actually watch
- 5:05the content for a longer period of time
- 5:07and have an average view duration. If
- 5:09you see that your subscribers are giving
- 5:11you really bad views, they're staying to
- 5:14watch way less, the average view
- 5:16duration is way less, then you're going
- 5:18to want to make sure you're clicking
- 5:19that button to make sure that they are
- 5:20not seeing your content, because in that
- 5:22case, your subscribers are actually
- 5:23hurting you. And this happens if you had
- 5:26a random video go viral where you got a
- 5:27bunch of different subscribers that was
- 5:29kind of outside of your niche. If you've
- 5:30done collabs with people outside of your
- 5:32niche, if you paid for YouTube
- 5:34subscribers by running ads or running
- 5:35promotions, that could also be killing
- 5:37your views. Now, change number four is
- 5:39that you need to make sure that you're
- 5:40using AI to help you understand, one,
- 5:43how many people are actually searching
- 5:45for whatever you're creating content
- 5:46about, and two, how many views it
- 5:48predicts you can actually get before you
- 5:50ever post your content. Let me explain.
- 5:53Now, the first of those things that I
- 5:54wanted to show you is how you actually
- 5:56figure out how many people are looking
- 5:57for something. So, what you want to make
- 5:59sure that you do is have the vidIQ
- 6:01Chrome extension installed, and then
- 6:03whenever you come over here and you type
- 6:04something in, for example, maybe I'm
- 6:06typing in chat GPT work, what we're
- 6:08going to see is on the top right-hand
- 6:10corner right here, we see this search
- 6:12companion. This is absolutely
- 6:14incredible. If you click in here, you
- 6:15could actually see what sections are
- 6:17going to be shown. I would recommend
- 6:18having all of them enabled like what I
- 6:20have enabled right here, because what
- 6:21this is going to allow you to see is
- 6:23what the views per hour is over time,
- 6:25and we could see that this is
- 6:26increasing. That's exactly what you want
- 6:28to see. You want to see that it's
- 6:29increasing, and ideally, you want to see
- 6:31that it's high. In addition to that, if
- 6:33we scroll down here, this will actually
- 6:34show you the top channels for this exact
- 6:37search term right here by how many views
- 6:40they have actually gotten recently. You
- 6:41could also filter it by subscribers, and
- 6:44this is just incredibly helpful right
- 6:45here, because this helps you determine
- 6:47what you should actually be posting
- 6:49about. What you don't want to do is post
- 6:51about topics where this views per hour
- 6:53shows as blank. For example, if I come
- 6:55over here and type in TikTok algorithm,
- 6:57I'm going to assume that it could
- 6:58actually shows as blank because it's not
- 7:00going to be a super high traffic search
- 7:02term. So, if we do a search for this,
- 7:05we're going to see that what this
- 7:06actually shows right here is not enough
- 7:08search data available for this keyword.
- 7:11Now, I rank number one for this keyword.
- 7:13I create content about this. I know that
- 7:15it's a small niche, but essentially, you
- 7:17don't want to be creating content for
- 7:18anything that has a view per hour like
- 7:21this. You want to only be going after
- 7:22things with a big views per hour. In
- 7:24addition to that, now when you actually
- 7:26go to upload content on YouTube, what
- 7:28you're going to notice is when you're
- 7:30under details before you ever even post
- 7:32your piece of content, if you scroll
- 7:34down right here, this is actually going
- 7:36to forecast right here how many views
- 7:38you'll get. We could see that it gives
- 7:39us a forecast for 14 days, gives us the
- 7:42forecast result, and if we click on this
- 7:44right here, it it will tell us why, and
- 7:46it'll tell us what to improve in our
- 7:48next video, or what to improve about
- 7:50this video if you haven't uploaded yet,
- 7:52in order to actually make it a better
- 7:53piece of content. And if you're not
- 7:54using AI like this, one, you're not
- 7:57going to be able to predict your views,
- 7:58so you're just flying blind, and two,
- 8:00you don't know how many people are
- 8:01searching every hour for whatever topic
- 8:04you're going to be posting about. And
- 8:05again, you only want to post about
- 8:06things that are on the up and up. And
- 8:08for both of these metrics, literally the
- 8:10only way that you are going to be able
- 8:11to see them is using vidIQ, because it's
- 8:14the only tool that's going to give you
- 8:15access to them. If you're not using
- 8:17vidIQ, you're not going to have this
- 8:18information. Your competitors are going
- 8:20to have it, and that's why they're
- 8:21getting more views, they're growing
- 8:22faster, and they're gaining more
- 8:24subscribers than you. If you aren't
- 8:25using this, you are going to get left
- 8:28behind in 2026, and especially as we
- 8:30move into 2027. And the best part about
- 8:33vidIQ is that if you go to the pinned
- 8:34comment below, you can get started with
- 8:36it today for only $1. You're not going
- 8:37to see this deal anywhere else. It's the
- 8:39only place you're going to be able to
- 8:40get it, and guess what? vidIQ is going
- 8:42to be your secret weapon to help you
- 8:43grow faster on YouTube, because it's
- 8:44going to help you stop creating content
- 8:46that flops, and know exactly what you
- 8:49should be posting about, because your
- 8:50audience is already there, watching and
- 8:53begging for content about it. So, go to
- 8:54that pinned comment below, and get
- 8:56started with it today. Change number
- 8:58five is you need to make sure you're
- 8:59paying attention to all the new
- 9:00analytics that YouTube just recently
- 9:02released, and this is actually going to
- 9:03help you determine incredibly quickly
- 9:05exactly what was wrong with your video.
- 9:07So, these new analytics that you need to
- 9:09make sure that you use are going to be
- 9:11found if you are on the analytics for a
- 9:13video, if you scroll down and click on
- 9:15see more. What this is now going to
- 9:16allow you to see on the left-hand side,
- 9:18if we click on audience retention, we
- 9:20could see compared to other videos. And
- 9:22whenever this blue line gets close to
- 9:25the gray line, or goes below it, that's
- 9:27a part of your video that you need to
- 9:28fix, because that's where people are
- 9:30dropping off on your content, or not
- 9:32watching, versus your other content, and
- 9:34that's why this video didn't do as well.
- 9:37In addition to that, if we come back
- 9:38over here, we could also see detailed
- 9:40activity. And what this is going to show
- 9:42us, if we scroll over these, is
- 9:43literally how many people started
- 9:45watching and how many people stopped
- 9:47watching at specific times. So, what you
- 9:50want to make sure that you're doing is
- 9:51going through and highlighting anywhere
- 9:53where you see a lot of people stop
- 9:55watching. And what this is is a sign
- 9:57that, "Hey, my hook wasn't good enough.
- 9:59Hey, this part of the video is something
- 10:01that they didn't like." And analyzing
- 10:03this for every video that you make,
- 10:05taking notes is what is actually going
- 10:07to make you a better YouTuber. In fact,
- 10:09that's what the best YouTubers do. They
- 10:10look at compared to other videos, they
- 10:12look at detailed activity, and this
- 10:13allows them to keep getting better every
- 10:15single time that they post because over
- 10:17time you eliminate the things that
- 10:19you're doing wrong, you eliminate the
- 10:21things that your audience doesn't like,
- 10:23and you eliminate the things that the
- 10:24algorithm isn't picking up on or isn't
- 10:27pushing and what's actually hurting you
- 10:29when you're trying to grow. Now, that
- 10:30last change you need to make sure you're
- 10:32implementing is you need to make sure
- 10:33that you're using all of the new ways
- 10:35that YouTube actually wants you to get
- 10:36engagement. There are multiple different
- 10:38features and multiple different settings
- 10:40and multiple different types of posts
- 10:41that you should be creating. Let me
- 10:43explain. So, that first of the new
- 10:45features that you need to make sure that
- 10:47you're using is you need to make sure
- 10:49that you're adding quizzes into your
- 10:51content. We're going to see right here,
- 10:52if we scroll down a little bit, quizzes.
- 10:54This is where you are going to be able
- 10:56to add in quizzes for your audience. And
- 10:58essentially, you just ask them a
- 10:59question and they'll be able to answer
- 11:01it. You want to have this ideally in the
- 11:02first 3 minutes of your video because
- 11:04what this going to do is one, increase
- 11:06engagement, and two, hopefully you have
- 11:08the quiz be something that you're going
- 11:10to be talking more about the video or
- 11:11something like that or that people argue
- 11:13about in the comments. And basically,
- 11:14this is just a way for you to be able to
- 11:16get way more engagement in your content.
- 11:18You could do it multiple times in a
- 11:20video, but you want to make sure you're
- 11:21doing it at least one time. In addition
- 11:23to that, the second thing you want to
- 11:25make sure that you're doing is taking
- 11:26advantage of community posts. If we come
- 11:29over to a YouTube channel like VidIQ,
- 11:31what we're going to find is that they
- 11:33actually post community posts all the
- 11:35time. If we click into their content, we
- 11:37come over here to posts, what we're
- 11:39going to see is that they post tons of
- 11:41these. In fact, they post one every day.
- 11:43They post things like this, which looks
- 11:44like an X post. They have updates right
- 11:47here. If we scroll down, they have
- 11:48things like quizzes. And essentially,
- 11:50what this does is keeps your content in
- 11:53your viewers' feed. And guess what? When
- 11:55somebody likes this, when somebody
- 11:56interacts with the poll right here, when
- 11:58somebody comments, it increases the odds
- 12:01that they then get shown your other
- 12:03content. The far majority of people that
- 12:04see this are going to be on a mobile
- 12:06device. And then, what this is going to
- 12:08do is increase the odds that they get
- 12:09shown your other content. And this is
- 12:11kind of a no-brainer, because it
- 12:13literally takes a few seconds, if that,
- 12:15for you to be able to create this stuff.
- 12:17You create it by simply just coming over
- 12:19here in the top right-hand corner. You
- 12:21will going to click on create post right
- 12:23here, and then, you'll be able to create
- 12:25these posts, or you'll actually be able
- 12:27to schedule them out, where you could go
- 12:29through and have these all scheduled out
- 12:32for the next week, for the next few
- 12:34days, for the next month, so that you
- 12:35don't have to go through and actually do
- 12:37this. The next thing you need to make
- 12:38sure you're doing is actually going to
- 12:39be in your account settings right here.
- 12:41If we come over to into account
- 12:43settings, we click on channel, we come
- 12:45into advanced settings, there are a few
- 12:46things you want to make sure right here
- 12:48that are going to actually be turned on.
- 12:51First, allow advertisers, brands, and
- 12:53third-party platforms to view channel
- 12:55insights for earning opportunities. I
- 12:56would strongly have to suggest having
- 12:58this turned on. This is going to
- 13:00increase the amount of brand deals that
- 13:01you get, the amount of exposure that you
- 13:03get. In addition to that, if we come
- 13:05down here, you want to make sure
- 13:06automatic dubbing is turned on. Allow
- 13:08automatic dubbing and things in
- 13:10experimental languages, make sure we're
- 13:12reviewing them. In addition to that, if
- 13:13we scroll down, clips, have that turned
- 13:16on. Video quality enhancements, have
- 13:18these turned on. Hype, make sure that is
- 13:20turned on. And once you do that, you're
- 13:22going to have all the right settings on
- 13:24your individual posts and on your
- 13:26account in order for YouTube to really
- 13:29push you out. Now, if you enjoyed this
- 13:30video and you want to learn how to get
- 13:31more subscribers on YouTube incredibly
- 13:33quickly, I would strongly suggest you
- 13:35check out this video right here that
- 13:36walks you through exactly how to do
- 13:38that. I'll see you over there.
