Full transcript
- 0:06Hello and welcome to day three of
- 0:09Lifebook's 30-day challenge. So good to
- 0:11have you here with me today. Now today,
- 0:13we're going to explore the first of 12
- 0:16categories of your life, and that
- 0:18category is your health and fitness.
- 0:21Now, I'll tell you, this is a category
- 0:23that many of us struggle with because so
- 0:25many of us have tried and tried in this
- 0:28category, but failed to make lasting
- 0:31change in this area of our lives.
- 0:33Nevertheless, this is a foundational
- 0:35category that we've absolutely got to
- 0:39handle if we're serious about creating
- 0:41an extraordinary life for ourselves.
- 0:44So, I'd like to begin by sharing a
- 0:46couple powerful truths about this
- 0:48category that you may or may not know.
- 0:51And the first is this,
- 0:53there is not a single area of your life
- 0:56that your health and fitness doesn't
- 0:57affect. Your health and fitness is
- 0:59intimately connected with everything
- 1:01else. The way you feel emotionally, the
- 1:04way you think,
- 1:05the way you view yourself,
- 1:08the way others view you,
- 1:10your productivity, your financial life,
- 1:13everything in your life is affected by
- 1:16your health and fitness. So, the stakes
- 1:18are really high in this category.
- 1:20Second,
- 1:21a win in this category is a win
- 1:24everywhere in your life because this
- 1:26category affects every other area of
- 1:28your life. It's the foundation. It's
- 1:31your base. Getting this category in line
- 1:34gives you a huge advantage, and it sets
- 1:36the stage for success everywhere.
- 1:40Third, and this is great news.
- 1:43This category is actually simple. Now,
- 1:46that doesn't mean it's easy, but it's
- 1:48simple. Success in this category
- 1:50consists primarily of two things, what
- 1:52you put into your body and how you use
- 1:55your body, diet and exercise. These two
- 1:59factors are 90% of the game. So, let's
- 2:02take a look at a clip from the classic
- 2:04Lifebook program now. And in this clip,
- 2:07I'm going to share with you some of my
- 2:09foundational beliefs for the health and
- 2:11fitness category.
- 2:37My wife and I were traveling in Turkey
- 2:39and we had a tour guide in Izmir. His
- 2:41name was Ilker and he was a really sweet
- 2:44guy. We had a great time with him and
- 2:47we're sitting in this cafe one day
- 2:49talking about health and fitness.
- 2:51And he told us,
- 2:53"We have a saying here in Turkey.
- 2:56A man without a belly is like a house
- 2:59without a balcony."
- 3:01Now, that's funny, but really what it
- 3:05is, it's a vision. It's a vision for
- 3:07health and fitness. It's how people look
- 3:08at health and fitness.
- 3:11And it was a vision that Ilker had
- 3:12manifested in his own life. He had a
- 3:14nice little balcony going on at 28 years
- 3:17old.
- 3:19Part of his vision for his body, for his
- 3:23health and fitness, was formed by the
- 3:25culture he lived in. He had adopted that
- 3:28vision.
- 3:30You don't want that to happen to you,
- 3:32especially not in America. You don't
- 3:34want to unconsciously adopt the vision
- 3:38of your culture in this particular area.
- 3:41You're here to craft your own vision
- 3:44consciously.
- 3:46So, what is your ideal vision? How do
- 3:49you see yourself when it comes to health
- 3:51and fitness?
- 3:52If you could have anything you wanted in
- 3:54this area,
- 3:56what would it be? What would it look
- 3:57like?
- 4:00My vision for my own health and fitness
- 4:01comes down to four things.
- 4:04The first is this.
- 4:06Health and fitness, that's who I am.
- 4:10That's part of who I am as a person.
- 4:12Eating right, exercising, these things
- 4:15are an indispensable part of my
- 4:17lifestyle. An absolutely necessary part
- 4:20of what I do every day.
- 4:23These things make everything better. I
- 4:25couldn't imagine a life without exercise
- 4:28and proper nutrition. I wouldn't feel
- 4:30good. I don't like to think about that.
- 4:33I want to always take great care of
- 4:34myself because that's just who I am.
- 4:37Health and fitness have literally become
- 4:39in my life a part of my identity.
- 4:42Secondly,
- 4:44I choose to be a strong, muscular
- 4:47athlete for the rest of my life.
- 4:50That's just how I see myself.
- 4:53I want to maintain the body weight and
- 4:55waist size that I've had since my early
- 4:5720s.
- 4:58I want to continue to improve my aerobic
- 5:00capacity, my strength, and flexibility.
- 5:03I see myself, I visualize myself as an
- 5:07athlete.
- 5:09Third,
- 5:11I'm committed to learning as much as I
- 5:13can about health, fitness, nutrition,
- 5:16and wellness. I want to constantly
- 5:19upgrade my education and understanding
- 5:21in these areas so I can get consistently
- 5:23better results in my life.
- 5:25I see myself as always being on the
- 5:28cutting edge of new information.
- 5:30And I'm not just learning to learn. I
- 5:32want to apply what I learn to make my
- 5:34life better.
- 5:36Part of my vision for health and fitness
- 5:38is living for a long time.
- 5:41I want to live to be at least 100 years
- 5:43old.
- 5:45I know I might get hit by a bus
- 5:47tomorrow, but I'm not planning on that.
- 5:50I'm planning I'm expecting I'm living my
- 5:53life as if I was going to live to be a
- 5:55hundred.
- 5:58Now, I'll say it again. I've said it
- 6:00before. I'm going to keep saying it over
- 6:02and over because this is really critical
- 6:06to the Lifebook process. This is my
- 6:09vision for my own life. You need to
- 6:11define yours.
- 6:14Maybe you see yourself as a sexy size
- 6:17six.
- 6:18Maybe you see yourself as a bodybuilder
- 6:20with 20-in biceps or a runner long and
- 6:24thin with less than 10% body fat.
- 6:28What's your vision for your own health
- 6:30and your own fitness?
- 6:32How do you see yourself in this area?
- 6:34How high can you get yourself to raise
- 6:36the bar? How far are you willing to go
- 6:39right now?
- 6:45So, those are a few of my beliefs in the
- 6:48health and fitness category and they
- 6:49haven't changed over all these years.
- 6:52And now what I'd like to do is take just
- 6:53a few minutes to help you connect with
- 6:56your own vision for your health and
- 6:58fitness. So, if you would, just close
- 7:01your eyes for a minute
- 7:03and imagine yourself with an ideal body.
- 7:08What would it look like?
- 7:10Imagine the ideal you.
- 7:13Maybe you're on a beach somewhere
- 7:15playing and splashing around with your
- 7:17lover or with your children.
- 7:19You're in shape. You're in really great
- 7:22shape.
- 7:24You feel energetic and strong.
- 7:27How do you see yourself right now?
- 7:30How does it feel to look and feel
- 7:33fantastic
- 7:35and full of vitality?
- 7:37Just hold that mental picture for a
- 7:40moment.
- 7:41How does it feel to have handled this
- 7:43area of your life and to be in really
- 7:46amazing shape?
- 7:48What you're seeing in your mind's eye
- 7:49right now,
- 7:51that is what we want you to connect with
- 7:53as we go through these categories. That
- 7:56is what we want you to be able to
- 7:57articulate and to clarify your ideal
- 8:00vision in each category.
- 8:03So, as we go through, just give yourself
- 8:06permission to ask for what you really
- 8:08want.
- 8:09We want you to begin really getting in
- 8:11touch with what you want in every
- 8:14important area of your life. That's the
- 8:17foundation of the Lifebook process.
- 8:20Okay, that's going to be it for today.
- 8:22And hopefully, right now you have just a
- 8:24little bit stronger picture in your
- 8:25mind's eye of what you'd actually like
- 8:27to achieve in your own health and
- 8:29fitness.
- 8:30Now, tomorrow we're going to go a little
- 8:31bit deeper into this category and you'll
- 8:33be doing a powerful exercise that'll
- 8:36virtually guarantee that you're going to
- 8:38make progress toward your vision for the
- 8:40health and fitness category.
- 8:42Have a fantastic day and I'll see you
- 8:45tomorrow.
