You're Not Working Hard, You're Just Tired — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00You can try way harder than you think
- 0:01you can.
- 0:02And most people aren't trying at all.
- 0:05>> I'll give a tactical thing that has
- 0:07helped for trying. And I like this is
- 0:09actually one of those more Rocky
- 0:10cutscene type things.
- 0:11But
- 0:13when you
- 0:15work, and you actually are working,
- 0:17you're writing the emails that you need
- 0:18to write, you're you're you're preparing
- 0:19for the podcast, you're doing that that
- 0:21work that you know is not short work.
- 0:23It's this is going to take me 2 hours,
- 0:25it's going to take me 4 hours.
- 0:27When you get to the end of that, and
- 0:28you're like, man,
- 0:30I'm kicked. You know, I'm this I you
- 0:32know, I I earned my shower today.
- 0:35I think the difference is that at that
- 0:37point, you go, you grab a bottle of
- 0:39water, and then you look at your to-do
- 0:41list at the next large thing and say,
- 0:43great.
- 0:44Let's start on this. And I think people
- 0:47who don't witness that happen, they
- 0:49don't see 4 hours, and this is what
- 0:51working side by side with someone can
- 0:52do. I remember when I we just have a we
- 0:54have a new uh director of marketing.
- 0:56Uh in his first week, uh we needed to we
- 0:59needed to write some massive amount of
- 1:01stuff. And uh
- 1:03he was like, okay, so we have to do
- 1:04this. And I was like, great. Pull up a
- 1:06document, let's go. And he was like, oh,
- 1:08like now? And I was like, you got
- 1:09something else to do? And he was like,
- 1:11oh, I mean, I I no, okay, yeah, let's
- 1:12let's do it now. And then we shared
- 1:14screen for 8 hours.
- 1:16Uh and then we finished it. And he was
- 1:18like, oh, wow. I was like, great, what's
- 1:19the next thing? And he was like,
- 1:22oh, yeah, uh we we have this other thing
- 1:24I guess we can do to And it was And I
- 1:26could see his like perception on on the
- 1:30level of work shifting in real time. And
- 1:33so, if you have the opportunity to work
- 1:35with anyone that is exceptional at
- 1:37anything,
- 1:40especially in that sub-30 crowd, for the
- 1:42love of God,
- 1:44move across the country,
- 1:46live in live in a tiny apartment, live
- 1:49far below your means, work for free if
- 1:52you have to, because the skill that you
- 1:53will get from learning the unlearnable
- 1:55or the difficult to learn lessons, cuz I
- 1:59it is pithier to say unlearning, but
- 2:00like it's harder to learn these lessons.
- 2:02If you can get in proximity, you will
- 2:03learn so much so much faster. Like if
- 2:06you want to time warp yourself, you can
- 2:08try and observe the little bits and
- 2:10nuggets and crumbs from videos,
- 2:12podcasts, things like this, cuz all
- 2:13we're doing is trying to describe
- 2:15scenarios.
- 2:16But when you live them, it completely
- 2:19changes you forever. Like if you want to
- 2:20win, Angela Duckworth talked about this,
- 2:22the number one most consistent way to
- 2:24become a champion is join a team of
- 2:26champions.
- 2:27Real quick, I'm going to show you the
- 2:28exact 10-stage roadmap from zero to 100
- 2:31million plus
- 2:32that less than 1% of companies finish,
- 2:34I've now done multiple times, and so I
- 2:36can say with a lot of confidence that
- 2:37these are the stages as head count
- 2:39increases that you need to get through.
- 2:41And I broke each of these down by eight
- 2:43different functions of the business,
- 2:45what the constraint feels like, like
- 2:46what are the symptoms of it when you're
- 2:48going through it, and then what steps we
- 2:49actually took to graduate. We've done
- 2:51this across software, physical products,
- 2:53uh service businesses, brick and mortar,
- 2:56all of this, and it works. And it's my
- 2:58gift to you, it's absolutely free. And
- 2:59so the link's in the description, but
- 3:01you just go acquisition.com/roadmap.
- 3:03Just enter your info and it'll spit it
- 3:04right back to you, all free.
