  1. 0:00Six months ago, you told yourself this
  2. 0:02is going to be the year. You set the
  3. 0:03goals, you made the promises, and
  4. 0:05chances are you probably fell behind.
  5. 0:07It's happened to the best of us. I've
  6. 0:08been there, wondering how the heck am I
  7. 0:10going to catch up on everything I said I
  8. 0:11would do. But, here's the good news. It
  9. 0:13only [music] takes six months to change
  10. 0:15everything. Some of the most successful
  11. 0:17people alive made their biggest leaps in
  12. 0:19a single six-month stretch. They just
  13. 0:20had a plan that made turning their life
  14. 0:22around feel inevitable. All you need is
  15. 0:24what I call the four-week edit to set
  16. 0:26yourself up for the next six months.
  17. 0:28Because you don't need to burn your
  18. 0:29whole life down, you just need to edit.
  19. 0:32I've shared this with thousands of
  20. 0:33founders I work with, and some [music]
  21. 0:34finally hit goals they've been
  22. 0:35struggling with for years, and I really
  23. 0:38believe you can, too. So, watch till the
  24. 0:40end because the version of you six
  25. 0:41months from now will thank you for
  26. 0:43[music] it. So, let's start with week
  27. 0:44one, where the focus will be to
  28. 0:46envision. Where are you actually going?
  29. 0:49You can't change your life if you don't
  30. 0:51know what you're changing it into. If
  31. 0:53you skip this, you'll literally spend
  32. 0:54the next six months busy, but you'll end
  33. 0:57up in the exact same spot you're at
  34. 0:58because you don't know where you're
  35. 0:59going. So, there's only two things you
  36. 1:01can do to set your vision, and the first
  37. 1:03one is to visualize your 10.0 self. Most
  38. 1:05people, they set goals like this. Let's
  39. 1:08get healthier. Let's make more money.
  40. 1:10But, if you can't describe the vision
  41. 1:11you have for your life with the same
  42. 1:13specificity as you could your current
  43. 1:15situation, then that's not a vision.
  44. 1:17That's just a wish. The 10.0 version of
  45. 1:19you is looking at all the best moments
  46. 1:22where you've shown up put together in
  47. 1:24one day. That is your 10.0 self. You and
  48. 1:27I [music] got to figure out what that is
  49. 1:29so that you can aim at it because you'll
  50. 1:31never hit a target you can't see. So,
  51. 1:33here's how we do that. Number one, we
  52. 1:35have to get specific in four key areas.
  53. 1:38No vague words allowed. The first one is
  54. 1:40the body. Then we've got your bank,
  55. 1:42>> [music]
  56. 1:43>> the money side. Then we have our
  57. 1:44calendar, our time. Where are we
  58. 1:47spending it? How are we investing
  59. 1:48[music]
  60. 1:49it? And then finally, we've got people.
  61. 1:52Now, here's the trick. We have to write
  62. 1:54it like it's already true. I like to go
  63. 1:56to the end and say like it's December
  64. 1:5731st and it's already happened. How
  65. 2:00would I write it down? I'm not just
  66. 2:01going to write like be healthier. I'm
  67. 2:03going to say I weigh, I completed a
  68. 2:05marathon, I completed a 5K, whatever it
  69. 2:08is. On the bank side, the money side,
  70. 2:10you say I made and I like profit, I
  71. 2:14invested, calendar, I spent.
  72. 2:17I work out.
  73. 2:19And then the people, now we're talking
  74. 2:21about I am surrounded and you also put I
  75. 2:24don't spend time with those people. This
  76. 2:28is how we set the vision. The trick is
  77. 2:31to do it in present tense [music] or
  78. 2:33past tense. What we never want to do is
  79. 2:35put it as future tense. Now step three
  80. 2:37is we grab all of this and we turn it
  81. 2:40into a vision board, visual
  82. 2:42representation of the life you're
  83. 2:43creating. And I'm going to give you the
  84. 2:45prompt that's going to make you generate
  85. 2:46the vision board based on what we've
  86. 2:47written down. I want to visualize what
  87. 2:49my life is going to look like in 6
  88. 2:50months from
  89. 2:54me for any gaps that might need to be
  90. 2:55there for context, then create a
  91. 2:57hyperrealistic image that puts me inside
  92. 3:00that life so that I can see myself
  93. 3:02living it every day. And the model's so
  94. 3:04good that you can actually feed it an
  95. 3:05image of yourself, you can actually make
  96. 3:07it real real. What I want you to do is
  97. 3:09save it as your desktop wallpaper on
  98. 3:12your laptop and anytime you open up your
  99. 3:13phone, you start working on your
  100. 3:15computer, ask yourself, how am I doing
  101. 3:17on that? I'm looking at this stuff three
  102. 3:19times a day meaningfully, like pausing
  103. 3:21and being there with it because I want
  104. 3:23to align all my actions to doing that
  105. 3:25work. Those 10 minutes will literally
  106. 3:27give you more clarity than you've
  107. 3:28probably had in the [music] last 10
  108. 3:30years. Now most people will just stop
  109. 3:32right here and just run with it, which
  110. 3:33would be awesome, but that's not what
  111. 3:35we're going to do. Knowing what you want
  112. 3:37is only half the job. Now we have to
  113. 3:39reverse engineer.
  114. 3:40Most people just do the work and they're
  115. 3:42like, I hope it gets me where I got to
  116. 3:44go. Hope is not a plan. And what we're
  117. 3:46going to do is we're going to flip it.
  118. 3:48We now have the end goal in sight. Now
  119. 3:50we got to work backwards from that to
  120. 3:52build a plan that actually makes sense.
  121. 3:54You can have all the hope in the world,
  122. 3:55but if you have the wrong strategy,
  123. 3:56ain't going to get you anywhere.
  124. 3:58This is what I call identity-based
  125. 4:00goals. So, identity-based goals is
  126. 4:02pretty much have,
  127. 4:06be,
  128. 4:07and do. Have is all the stuff we just
  129. 4:10talked about, the things that we said we
  130. 4:11want. Vision,
  131. 4:13things around the money we want, the
  132. 4:15relationships,
  133. 4:18the body, the bank, right? Where do we
  134. 4:20put money? This is the things that you
  135. 4:22want to have. These are your [music]
  136. 4:24goals. So, we got to ask ourselves, who
  137. 4:26do I need to be to have those things?
  138. 4:28And these are the things, these are the
  139. 4:29I am statements, right? You want to
  140. 4:31write down an athlete, if you want to
  141. 4:34work on your body. I remember that was a
  142. 4:35big thing I wrote down and then I
  143. 4:36started doing CrossFit. And the first
  144. 4:38workout I did, they were like, "Hey
  145. 4:39athletes, what's up?" And I was like,
  146. 4:40"Oh crap, I guess I became an athlete.
  147. 4:42I'm valuable. I am productive." The big
  148. 4:46one for some of you is, "I am an
  149. 4:48extrovert." You can be an introvert in
  150. 4:50moments, but you can also show up as an
  151. 4:52extrovert. Write it down. This is our
  152. 4:54identity. This is who I believe that I
  153. 4:56am, even if today I don't have any proof
  154. 4:58of it, I need to be there. But now we
  155. 5:00got to go to the habits, the things that
  156. 5:02the person that's being, that has those
  157. 5:05goals, what do they do? I'll tell you,
  158. 5:06things like, "I don't drink. I eat
  159. 5:10healthy." Our lives today are a
  160. 5:13reflection of decisions we made 6 months
  161. 5:15ago. That's why for me, the identity is
  162. 5:18a byproduct of our habits. You can have
  163. 5:21the vision to have a six-pack, but if
  164. 5:22you keep eating in the kitchen, you
  165. 5:24will never have abs. Two years ago, I
  166. 5:27realized that I was an Iron Man, I
  167. 5:29didn't look the part. I didn't look like
  168. 5:31I worked out. I didn't look fit. So, I
  169. 5:33woke up one day and decided, "I'm going
  170. 5:35to have visible abs." And I went on the
  171. 5:37journey, and it was hard. Even when I
  172. 5:39was doing it, I worried that it was
  173. 5:41never going to happen, but I stayed at
  174. 5:43it. Two years later, continue to
  175. 5:44maintain the same body weight because my
  176. 5:46identity shifted. Things that were
  177. 5:48habits are no longer habits once you
  178. 5:50adopt them as identity. So, now we have
  179. 5:52a vision of what we want to achieve and
  180. 5:54now we have a plan on how to get there.
  181. 5:55But, now we got to go to week two where
  182. 5:57we learn to delete.
  183. 5:58Here's my question for you. What's
  184. 6:00quietly holding you back from this
  185. 6:02stuff? Cuz you can't build a new life on
  186. 6:05top of the old one. We need to make room
  187. 6:07for you to be able to install these new
  188. 6:08things and you have to cut before you
  189. 6:10build. And there's two things quietly
  190. 6:13eating away at your time and it's found
  191. 6:15in your calendar and in your circle. So,
  192. 6:17the first thing we have to do is we have
  193. 6:19to avoid the dragon. And these are the
  194. 6:21things that are pulling you off track
  195. 6:23that are just so easy to reach. The app
  196. 6:26that's one tap away, the one glass of
  197. 6:28wine every night just to take the edge
  198. 6:30off. All these temptations around you
  199. 6:32that you can just remove to make them a
  200. 6:34little harder to reach for. You won't
  201. 6:36beat those with willpower. Willpower
  202. 6:38runs out. So, instead of continuing with
  203. 6:41that, we got to add some friction. We
  204. 6:43have to make it hard to do the wrong
  205. 6:45things. It is easier to avoid the dragon
  206. 6:48than to slay it. So, here's how you can
  207. 6:50do it for yourself. First thing, we have
  208. 6:52to log your time for the week. See, most
  209. 6:54people don't know where their time goes.
  210. 6:56So, what I like to do is be very precise
  211. 6:58and log every 15 minutes. Have a timer
  212. 7:00that goes off and write down, what did
  213. 7:02you do? What did you work on? And we got
  214. 7:04to audit our time. And we got to do that
  215. 7:06for a week. Now, we have a log of
  216. 7:08everything we did. Step two is to go
  217. 7:10back through each one and circle in red
  218. 7:14all the things that are pulling you back
  219. 7:16away from your goal and your vision. And
  220. 7:18then circle in green all the things that
  221. 7:20were pushing you and supporting your
  222. 7:22vision. If you said yes to joining a
  223. 7:24call with a bunch of other peers that
  224. 7:26are like you, that was supportive. If
  225. 7:28you answered a phone call from a friend
  226. 7:30that you met in high school that
  227. 7:32continues to complain all the time and
  228. 7:33you know they're going to complain, you
  229. 7:34answer the phone just so you can listen
  230. 7:35to them complain, that pulls you away.
  231. 7:37Just be honest with you. Does it support
  232. 7:40or does it subtract? Now, what we do is
  233. 7:42we take the list of everything that was
  234. 7:45pulling you away and we put it in a
  235. 7:47bucket and we build a plan. First off,
  236. 7:49we should cut it. Make it hard to
  237. 7:52access. If we can't, then we want to add
  238. 7:55some friction. I don't know if you've
  239. 7:56ever seen these like bricks that are
  240. 7:58like an NFC tag where you tap your phone
  241. 8:00and essentially if you tap it, it means
  242. 8:02you can't go to Instagram or any social
  243. 8:04media app that you set up until you come
  244. 8:05back and tap it again. It creates
  245. 8:07friction to make it hard for you to make
  246. 8:10decision. And look, I get it's easy to
  247. 8:12say but it's harder to do in practice.
  248. 8:14The best way to stay compliant is once
  249. 8:15you made these decisions, tell your
  250. 8:17friends, tell your wife, tell everybody,
  251. 8:19"These are my decisions. If you see me
  252. 8:20doing it, question me on it." Once you
  253. 8:22free up your time, the worst thing you
  254. 8:25do is go and waste it again. So, that's
  255. 8:26why I built the perfect week template
  256. 8:28that's made just for busy CEOs that are
  257. 8:30juggling their team, their family, their
  258. 8:32travel. So, if you're a CEO that
  259. 8:33struggles with this, just find me on
  260. 8:35Instagram and DM me the word YouTube
  261. 8:37week and I'll send it right over. But,
  262. 8:38your time is only half the battle. The
  263. 8:41bigger problem is who you're doing it
  264. 8:43with. Now, we got to delete some other
  265. 8:44stuff that are taking our time and those
  266. 8:46are the people. You want to run a friend
  267. 8:48inventory. You are the byproduct of who
  268. 8:51you spend the most time with and they
  269. 8:52quietly set your ceiling. The ceiling
  270. 8:54could be so much higher if you
  271. 8:56surrounded yourself with people that are
  272. 8:58more positive. We allow ourselves to be
  273. 9:00around folks that take our energy. They
  274. 9:02suck our time. I call them energy
  275. 9:04vampires. And then there's people in
  276. 9:06your life that you know, when you're
  277. 9:07around them, they energize you. They
  278. 9:09drive you. They push you. They support
  279. 9:11you. Those people are amplifiers. When I
  280. 9:14was 17, I made a bunch of bad decisions
  281. 9:19and I ended up in rehab for 11 months.
  282. 9:21Through that process, I learned a lot
  283. 9:23about myself but one of the most
  284. 9:25powerful things they asked us to do at
  285. 9:26the end was build a transition plan. The
  286. 9:28decision of who we were going to not see
  287. 9:31and remove out of our life and who we
  288. 9:33needed to add and even if we didn't know
  289. 9:34who those people were, what kind of
  290. 9:36people they were. And if I didn't do
  291. 9:38that, I'm telling you today, I wouldn't
  292. 9:40be here. This for me was life or death.
  293. 9:43That decision saved me at 17, and
  294. 9:45honestly, it's what scales founders at
  295. 9:4740. If your enemy put sugar in your
  296. 9:50water, that won't hurt as much as your
  297. 9:52friend accidentally putting poison in
  298. 9:54it. I call it a friend inventory, and
  299. 9:56here's how we run it. So, we got the
  300. 9:58traits, we got vampires, and amplifiers.
  301. 10:01What I'm going to ask you to do is
  302. 10:02first, we have to write down the traits
  303. 10:05of people that are aligned with your
  304. 10:06goals. The habits, the vibe of that
  305. 10:09person. First one I'm going to write
  306. 10:10down is positive. I'm going to write
  307. 10:12down driven.
  308. 10:14Financially successful.
  309. 10:15I'm going to write down kind. I love me
  310. 10:18a kind, driven person. [music] The
  311. 10:20second step is we want to list everyone
  312. 10:22you've spent a lot of time with over the
  313. 10:24last 60 days and make a list of them,
  314. 10:26cuz we're going to categorize them into
  315. 10:28one or two lists. On the left side, we
  316. 10:29have our vampires. These are energy
  317. 10:31suckers. These are the people that are
  318. 10:33always asking you for stuff, or even
  319. 10:35worse, when you share your wins with
  320. 10:36them, they make you feel bad about it.
  321. 10:38On the other side, we have the
  322. 10:39amplifiers. These are the people that
  323. 10:41pump you up. These are the ones that
  324. 10:42teach you things every time you talk to
  325. 10:44them. They're always introducing new
  326. 10:45ideas to you. I always want to be in
  327. 10:47somebody's amplifier side. And that's
  328. 10:49what I'm doing here for you right now.
  329. 10:50All the amplifiers will have the traits
  330. 10:52typically that you need to become, and
  331. 10:54you put those people on this side,
  332. 10:56because if you spend the most time with
  333. 10:58them, then you'll become like them. Then
  334. 10:59everybody else becomes a vampire. And
  335. 11:01this is a tough one, because a lot of
  336. 11:02the people on this list are probably
  337. 11:04going to be family members. They're
  338. 11:05going to be friends you've known for 20
  339. 11:06plus years. But I'm telling you, the
  340. 11:08decision to create some space and love
  341. 11:10them from a distance will change your
  342. 11:12life. And what we got to do is we got to
  343. 11:14adjust our time to spend less time with
  344. 11:16the vampires and more time with the
  345. 11:17amplifiers. And if you don't have
  346. 11:18anybody in this list, let's go find
  347. 11:20them. And the pro tip, do the same thing
  348. 11:22with your social media feed. My rule is
  349. 11:23this, if I saw the person in the mall,
  350. 11:25would I pretend not to see them? They're
  351. 11:27vampires. [laughter]
  352. 11:28Just do yourself a favor and unfollow
  353. 11:30them, unfriend them. You don't have to
  354. 11:31have them in your life because you sat
  355. 11:33next to them in grade seven. So, now
  356. 11:34that you've made all this room in your
  357. 11:35time, here comes the fun part. We got to
  358. 11:37fill it back up, but this time with the
  359. 11:39stuff that actually will change your
  360. 11:41life. Week number three, install.
  361. 11:44Now that you have a vision and you have
  362. 11:45a clear junk drawer because you cleaned
  363. 11:47it all out and only the good stuff is in
  364. 11:49there, now we got to build the new life.
  365. 11:50We got to start putting stuff in it that
  366. 11:52are going to support the dreams. The
  367. 11:54first thing we have to do is we have to
  368. 11:55set our thermostat. Every person has a
  369. 11:58thermostat for things they feel they are
  370. 12:00allowed to have in their life. And
  371. 12:02essentially, if it goes up or down, you
  372. 12:05put on too much weight or your bank
  373. 12:06account has too much money, you will
  374. 12:08react. It's kind of crazy because some
  375. 12:09people are like, "Oh, I'm all into
  376. 12:11visualization and positive mental
  377. 12:13attitude." I'm like, if I stuck you in a
  378. 12:15commercial-grade freezer, I don't care
  379. 12:16how much positive attitude you're going
  380. 12:18to have, you're going to feel cold. So,
  381. 12:19it's all about your environment. Just
  382. 12:21look at Lewis Hamilton, the F1 driver,
  383. 12:23seven-time world champion, one of the
  384. 12:25greatest ever, one of my favorite
  385. 12:27drivers. And he drove for Mercedes.
  386. 12:282025, he switches to Ferrari, and
  387. 12:31suddenly, he can't even win. He can't
  388. 12:33get a single podium. He called it his
  389. 12:35nightmare. Same driver, same talent,
  390. 12:38different environment. Now, he's turned
  391. 12:40it around since, but that's how much
  392. 12:42your environment matters. It can make an
  393. 12:44amazing talent great, or it can hold
  394. 12:46them back. And your space, your
  395. 12:48environment, shapes you way more than
  396. 12:49you think. Last week we talked about
  397. 12:51making the bad stuff hard to reach. This
  398. 12:53week we flip it and we make the good
  399. 12:55stuff easy. So, what we got to do is we
  400. 12:56got to design your space that does the
  401. 12:58work for you. Number one, we got to make
  402. 13:00the good stuff easy stuff, and we got to
  403. 13:02put it right in the path. So, for
  404. 13:03example, if you make a commitment, you
  405. 13:05want to go to the gym the next morning,
  406. 13:06grab all your stuff, put it right next
  407. 13:09to your bed so that when you wake up,
  408. 13:10you literally step into your gym
  409. 13:11clothes, step into your shoes, and you
  410. 13:13go to the gym. If you need to drink more
  411. 13:15water, you can preset your water jug the
  412. 13:17day before and have it on your desk, and
  413. 13:19you can make a commitment. You can set
  414. 13:21an alarm that goes off to remind you.
  415. 13:22You want to do something today that
  416. 13:24makes the decision of tomorrow super
  417. 13:26easy. And next, we have to upgrade our
  418. 13:28inputs. This goes back to the feed. I
  419. 13:30love to use my social media to feed my
  420. 13:32mind. I'm building an AI venture studio
  421. 13:34to a billion dollars. So, all of my feed
  422. 13:36is AI people talking about building
  423. 13:39billion-dollar companies. Anybody who's
  424. 13:40always complaining about things they
  425. 13:41can't control, guess what? I either mute
  426. 13:43them, unfollow them, and they just don't
  427. 13:45end up into my world. And number three
  428. 13:46is we have to surround ourselves with
  429. 13:48people who've already achieved the
  430. 13:49things we want. That is the ultimate
  431. 13:51hack. I don't care how rich you are, you
  432. 13:53get in a bigger room and you're the low
  433. 13:55person on the totem pole, you will
  434. 13:57naturally want to rise to the rest of
  435. 13:59the room. So, that's why you want to
  436. 14:00install good spaces, inputs, and people
  437. 14:04into your life. And here's a pro tip. If
  438. 14:05you're ever trying to get connected to
  439. 14:07somebody, instead of asking them for the
  440. 14:09thing, ask past them. Be like, "Hey, do
  441. 14:11you know anybody who could help me with
  442. 14:13X, Y, Z?" If they're open to it, they
  443. 14:15might say, "Well, I could. What do you
  444. 14:16need?" But if they're not, they'll just
  445. 14:17say, "Well, no, but I know this person
  446. 14:19can help." And that works really well.
  447. 14:21Nine times out of 10, they'll actually
  448. 14:22reply saying, "I can help. What do you
  449. 14:24need?" If you get this right, doing the
  450. 14:26right thing stops becoming hard. It
  451. 14:28doesn't need discipline, it doesn't need
  452. 14:29willpower, it just becomes automatic.
  453. 14:31But the perfect space, that environment
  454. 14:33without the right daily non-negotiables,
  455. 14:36will never work. So, we got to lock
  456. 14:37those in. Lock in your non-negotiables.
  457. 14:40One of the components of the coaching
  458. 14:42work I do with people is these five
  459. 14:44daily non-negotiables. And what I asked
  460. 14:46myself when I started that program is,
  461. 14:48"What are the things I could ask my
  462. 14:49clients to do every day that if they
  463. 14:51just did, whether they talked to me,
  464. 14:53showed up, studied, do the things that I
  465. 14:55was teaching them, would guarantee their
  466. 14:57success?" You remember those daily
  467. 14:59habits that we circled back in week one?
  468. 15:01Now, we need to make sure you stick with
  469. 15:02them for the long term. Because the one
  470. 15:03thing about habits, it's either we're
  471. 15:05doing them and our life is spiraling up,
  472. 15:07or there's a day where we skip it and we
  473. 15:09slowly spiral down. That's why I have a
  474. 15:11rule, I never skip the gym more than two
  475. 15:12days in a row. For years, I've never
  476. 15:14gone two days. One day of travel, no
  477. 15:16problem. Two days in a row, no, no, no.
  478. 15:19And that's the difference between people
  479. 15:20who can change and people who don't. If
  480. 15:22you can't build non-negotiables, then
  481. 15:24you don't have the foundation to push
  482. 15:26off of. But, how do you turn them from a
  483. 15:28habit to what I call a non-negotiable?
  484. 15:31Here's how we make them stick. First
  485. 15:33off, we have to pick the
  486. 15:34non-negotiables. These are one or two
  487. 15:35habits for each of the like mind, body,
  488. 15:38or business that we talked about in the
  489. 15:39do part of the identity-based goals.
  490. 15:41Two, we have to make sure we start with
  491. 15:43embarrassingly simple, small, easy wins.
  492. 15:46I'm talking about writing one page of
  493. 15:47your book or one short workout or one
  494. 15:50call to somebody you don't know. So
  495. 15:51small that you're just going to do it
  496. 15:53cuz it seems so simple. So, you're
  497. 15:54trying to build momentum. Number three
  498. 15:56is we're going to habit stack. We're
  499. 15:57going to attach each one of those
  500. 15:59non-negotiables to something you already
  501. 16:01do. So, for example, if you know you got
  502. 16:02to take your vitamins and you brush your
  503. 16:03teeth every day, you put the vitamins
  504. 16:05next to your toothbrush, so you tie the
  505. 16:07brushing of your teeth to taking your
  506. 16:08vitamins. I have a Kindle that's next to
  507. 16:10my hot tub, so every time I go in the
  508. 16:12hot tub, I read my Kindle. I make it
  509. 16:13really easy to do the right thing by
  510. 16:15making them non-negotiables. I'm
  511. 16:17installing those things into my life to
  512. 16:19make them super easy. And number four,
  513. 16:21one of my favorite things to do is
  514. 16:22create rewards and stakes for each one
  515. 16:24of them. As I mentioned, when I did
  516. 16:26Project Visible Apps, I had stakes on
  517. 16:29the line. If I didn't hit my goal, which
  518. 16:30is kind of crazy at the time, 90 days to
  519. 16:32lose 32 lbs, if I didn't hit it, I made
  520. 16:35a commitment to everybody that I would
  521. 16:37enter in a fitness competition as is.
  522. 16:40I'm talking no tan, [music] no shaving
  523. 16:42my chest, just straight up on stage in a
  524. 16:44mankini. Like, did not want to do that.
  525. 16:47Luckily, my desire to not show up on the
  526. 16:49internet having those photos exist was
  527. 16:51more than the pain it took to get
  528. 16:52visible abs. But, it's got to be
  529. 16:54something that costs you big time. And
  530. 16:56then the reward was a new supercar. I'll
  531. 16:58tell you, I did more to avoid the thing
  532. 17:00I didn't want than the thing I wanted.
  533. 17:02And I do this all the time. Even last
  534. 17:03year in my media company, me, Sam, and
  535. 17:05Todd, Todd runs it, says I'm a creative
  536. 17:07director, and myself, we had a goal, get
  537. 17:09to 8.8 million followers across all
  538. 17:11platforms on social media. If we don't,
  539. 17:13we put our Porsches on the line. We
  540. 17:15literally put our cars. And I will tell
  541. 17:17you, right up till the last day, it was
  542. 17:20a question mark if we were going to keep
  543. 17:22our cars. But it kept everybody aligned.
  544. 17:24The upside is I bought them some really
  545. 17:26cool Rolexes, but the downside was
  546. 17:28losing their car. And I'll tell you, for
  547. 17:29the three of us, we didn't want to lose
  548. 17:31our Porsche. So now everything is ready.
  549. 17:33We got the vision, we got the space, we
  550. 17:35got the habits, but this is exactly
  551. 17:37where most people completely fall off.
  552. 17:39So let's make sure that's not you. Week
  553. 17:41four, we track.
  554. 17:43How do you make sure that it actually
  555. 17:45sticks? You built the whole machine now,
  556. 17:47but this week is how you keep it running
  557. 17:48for 6 months. Setting it up is
  558. 17:51relatively easy. I said it was 3 weeks,
  559. 17:53but you could probably do it in like 45
  560. 17:54minutes. Sticking to it, that's where
  561. 17:56most people fall off. Most of the time
  562. 17:58it's because we don't track our
  563. 18:00progress. And if we don't track it, we
  564. 18:01don't keep score, we don't create
  565. 18:03momentum, it doesn't feel good. So we
  566. 18:04have to keep score.
  567. 18:06Most people don't quit because they
  568. 18:08fail. They quit because they can't see
  569. 18:10they're winning. They don't stop to look
  570. 18:12back at how much elevation they made as
  571. 18:14they've climbed that mountain or how
  572. 18:15much money they made in their business.
  573. 18:16They just see the massive gap between
  574. 18:18where they're at and where they want to
  575. 18:19be. So we have to keep score so that we
  576. 18:21can measure it because we can't manage
  577. 18:23what we don't measure. What gets
  578. 18:24measured gets managed. Seeing the proof
  579. 18:26stack up is what keeps you going and
  580. 18:28what motivates you. Those little tiny
  581. 18:30wins, those little daily habits that
  582. 18:32might feel super small. I'm telling you,
  583. 18:34if you do them for three, four, five,
  584. 18:35six days in a row, you'll feel so good
  585. 18:37about yourself. Do you know that most
  586. 18:38people have never gone to the gym for 8
  587. 18:40days in a row? They're like, I got to
  588. 18:42take a rest day. From what? You're not
  589. 18:44even sore. Now you're building momentum.
  590. 18:46Now you're feeling good. Now you're
  591. 18:47identity building. So here's how we keep
  592. 18:50score.
  593. 18:51We have to track.
  594. 18:53The first thing we have to do is we need
  595. 18:55a north star [snorts]
  596. 18:58metric. This is the one number that
  597. 19:01proves you're moving. This could be
  598. 19:03weight, this could be revenue, this
  599. 19:05could be the pages read, this could be
  600. 19:07the workouts done. But essentially, you
  601. 19:09log it, you measure it, you have it
  602. 19:11tracked. Not 20, [music] that one one.
  603. 19:14It's like the leading indicator of
  604. 19:16everything else. If you're making
  605. 19:17progress, everything falls into place.
  606. 19:19Then, we need a daily scorecard. This is
  607. 19:23where we can have other data points that
  608. 19:26we measure that are aligned, that are
  609. 19:28precursors, that are activities that
  610. 19:30make this easier. And we want to put it
  611. 19:32into a spreadsheet, and we want to do it
  612. 19:34the same time every day, no exceptions.
  613. 19:37I like to put it in my calendar. At the
  614. 19:40end of my day, I log in, it's the last
  615. 19:41thing I do, and I update my scorecard
  616. 19:43for the activity that I was doing for
  617. 19:45that day that's aligned with my goals.
  618. 19:47And then lastly, we have to do a weekly
  619. 19:51check it. This is where you review and
  620. 19:53you see if you're making progress, cuz
  621. 19:55if you're not, this is your opportunity
  622. 19:57to make feedback. Every Friday, the last
  623. 19:59thing I do on Friday is to review my
  624. 20:00week to then adjust my next week based
  625. 20:02on my calendar, based on my time, based
  626. 20:04on my energy. What do I need to install
  627. 20:05that's aligned with tracking? Then I
  628. 20:07choose the one or two moves for the
  629. 20:09following week, not 15, and I install
  630. 20:12them into my week. That process will
  631. 20:14make it so inevitable. Now, here's a pro
  632. 20:16tip, cuz I've done this several times in
  633. 20:18my life. You share this progress
  634. 20:20publicly. I'm talking 75 Hard, post the
  635. 20:23photo. Iron Man training, post the
  636. 20:25photo. Project Visible Abs, post the
  637. 20:26videos. Make it so that you can't hide.
  638. 20:29Make it this is non-negotiable, this is
  639. 20:31what we're doing, this is the strategy,
  640. 20:33and I'm going to make it public. Cuz
  641. 20:34guess what? Sunlight sanitizes all
  642. 20:37things. Sanitizes bad habits, it
  643. 20:38sanitizes willpower. It will make sure
  644. 20:41that you got what you need to win this
  645. 20:42time. If you do this for 6 months and
  646. 20:44you stack those wins, you will wake up
  647. 20:47to a completely different life. So,
  648. 20:49that's the plan. Edit. We have to
  649. 20:51envision, we have to delete, we have to
  650. 20:52install, and now we have to track. 4
  651. 20:54weeks to set you up for the next 6
  652. 20:56months. But here's the twist that nobody
  653. 20:58sees coming. The loop. This isn't a
  654. 21:00one-time thing. It's something that you
  655. 21:02set up over the next 4 weeks that you
  656. 21:04live for the next 6 months, and then you
  657. 21:06run it again. You start from envision.
  658. 21:08Now, we need to delete. You go to
  659. 21:10install, and then you find the new
  660. 21:12track, and you do it over and over and
  661. 21:15over. But, this time you want to dream
  662. 21:16even bigger. You want to ask yourself
  663. 21:18what more you can do. Who do you need to
  664. 21:19become? A life well-lived is
  665. 21:21well-examined. And this allows you to
  666. 21:23examine it so you can get better. Don't
  667. 21:25wait till New Year's Eve because the
  668. 21:27calendar was never the point. You just
  669. 21:29start. 6 months is 6 months. Let's start
  670. 21:32today and change your life. So, here's
  671. 21:34my ask. Leave a comment and let me know
  672. 21:36what's the first thing you're going to
  673. 21:38delete this week. Write it below in the
  674. 21:40comments. And remember, if you want my
  675. 21:42perfect week template, just find me on
