  1. 0:00free speech is meaningless unless you
  2. 0:02allow people uh you don't like to say
  3. 0:05things you don't like otherwise it's
  4. 0:07irrelevant um and if at the point of
  5. 0:09which you lose Free Speech uh it doesn't
  6. 0:12come
  7. 0:12back I I think the issue some people
  8. 0:15have is that a lot of people were
  9. 0:16brought back I mean some people were
  10. 0:18brought back who uh were previously
  11. 0:20banned for spreading things like uh Q
  12. 0:22andon conspiracies you have people like
  13. 0:23Andrew Tate who were brought back who
  14. 0:25were previously uh banned for things
  15. 0:27like hate speech do you think you
  16. 0:29prioritize freedom of of speech
  17. 0:32over misinformation and hate
  18. 0:36speech well you know who's to say that
  19. 0:39something something is
  20. 0:41misinformation
  21. 0:43um who's the aitor of
  22. 0:45that is it the
  23. 0:49BBC you literally asking me yes well no
  24. 0:52you are you are the Arbiter on Twitter
  25. 0:55because you own Twitter yes I'm saying
  26. 0:56who who is to say that one person's
  27. 0:58misinformation is another person's
  28. 1:01information um at the point of which you
  29. 1:03you said that there is uh this is misin
  30. 1:06like who is going to misformation can be
  31. 1:08dangerous that it can cause real world
  32. 1:10harms that it can potentially cause um
  33. 1:12yes and the point I'm trying to make is
  34. 1:13that the BBC itself has at times publish
  35. 1:16things that are
  36. 1:19false do you agree that that has
  37. 1:21occurred I I I I I I'm quite sure the
  38. 1:23BBC have said things before that turn
  39. 1:26out to not be true in its whatever it is
  40. 1:29100 Year history I'm quite sure yes even
  41. 1:31if you aspire to be accurate there are
  42. 1:34times when you you will not be we've
  43. 1:36spoken to people very recently who were
  44. 1:38involved in moderation and they just say
  45. 1:40they just there's not enough people to
  46. 1:41police this stuff particularly around um
  47. 1:44particularly around hate speech um in
  48. 1:46the company what hate speech are you
  49. 1:48talking about I mean you use Twitter
  50. 1:50right do you see aise in hate speech I
  51. 1:52mean just a personal anecdote like what
  52. 1:54did do I don't personally my uh for you
  53. 1:59I would see get I get more of that kind
  54. 2:01of content yeah personally but I'm not
  55. 2:03going to talk to talk to the rest of for
  56. 2:05for the rest of Twitter you see more
  57. 2:06hate speech personally I would say I
  58. 2:08would see more hateful content in that
  59. 2:10in that content you don't like or or
  60. 2:13hateful what do you mean to describe a
  61. 2:14hateful thing yeah I mean you know just
  62. 2:17content that will solicit a reaction
  63. 2:20something that may include something
  64. 2:22that is slightly racist or slightly
  65. 2:24sexist those kinds of those kinds of
  66. 2:26things so you think if something is
  67. 2:27slightly sexist it should be vent
  68. 2:30I no you're I'm not saying anything I'm
  69. 2:32saying I'm just curious I'm I'm trying
  70. 2:34to understand what you mean by hateful
  71. 2:35content and I'm asking for specific
  72. 2:38examples um and if and you just said
  73. 2:41that if something is slightly sexist
  74. 2:44that's hateful content does that mean
  75. 2:46that it should be banned well you've
  76. 2:47asked me you've asked me whether my feed
  77. 2:50whether it's got less or more I'd say
  78. 2:52it's got slightly more that's why I'm
  79. 2:54asking for examples can can you name one
  80. 2:56example I I honestly don't honestly I
  81. 2:59can't name a single example I'll tell
  82. 3:00you why cuz I don't actually use that
  83. 3:01for you feed anymore because I I just
  84. 3:03don't particularly like it actually a
  85. 3:05lot of people a lot of people are quite
  86. 3:06similar I I I only hang on a second you
  87. 3:09said you've seen more hateful content
  88. 3:10but you can't name a single example not
  89. 3:12even one I'm not sure I've used that
  90. 3:14feed for the last three or four weeks
  91. 3:16and I well then how did you see the
  92. 3:18hateful cont content because I've been
  93. 3:20I've been using I've been using twistter
  94. 3:21since you've taken over for the last six
  95. 3:22months okay so then you must have at
  96. 3:23some point seen that you for you hateful
  97. 3:25content I'm asking for one example right
  98. 3:28you can't give a single one and I'm
  99. 3:30I then I I say so that you don't know
  100. 3:32what you're talking about really yes
  101. 3:33because you can't give me a single
  102. 3:34example of hateful content not even one
  103. 3:37tweet and yet you claimed that the
  104. 3:39hateful content was high well that's a
  105. 3:42false no what I claim you just lied what
  106. 3:45no no what I claim was uh there are many
  107. 3:48uh organizations that say that that kind
  108. 3:50of information is on the rise now
  109. 3:52whether whether it has
  110. 3:54on I mean right and some like the the
  111. 3:57Strategic dialogue uh Institute in the
  112. 4:00UK they will say that so look people
  113. 4:03will say all sorts of nonsense I'm
  114. 4:04literally asking for a single example
  115. 4:06and you can't name one right and as as
  116. 4:08I've already said I don't use that feed
  117. 4:09but how would you know I don't think
  118. 4:11this is getting anywhere you literally
  119. 4:12said you experienced more hateful
  120. 4:14content and then couldn't name a single
  121. 4:16example right and as I said I that's
  122. 4:17absurd I haven't I haven't actually
  123. 4:19looked at that feed then how would you
  124. 4:21know this content because I'm saying
  125. 4:23that's what I saw a few weeks ago I
  126. 4:25can't give you an exact example let's
  127. 4:27move on we have we only have a certain
  128. 4:28amount of time um Co
  129. 4:32misinformation you Chang you change the
  130. 4:34co misinformation has BBC changed his Co
  131. 4:38misinformation the BBC does not set the
  132. 4:40rules on Twitter so I'm asking you no
  133. 4:42I'm talking about the BBC's
  134. 4:43misinformation about
  135. 4:47Co I'm I'm I'm literally asking you
  136. 4:49about you changed the labels the co
  137. 4:51misinformation labels they used to be a
  138. 4:53policy and
  139. 4:55then then
  140. 4:57disappeared why why do that
  141. 5:01well Co is no longer an
  142. 5:06issue does the BBC uh hold itself at all
  143. 5:10responsible for misinformation regarding
  144. 5:14ma masking and and side effects of
  145. 5:17vaccinations and not reporting on that
  146. 5:19at
  147. 5:20all and what about the fact that the BBC
  148. 5:23was put under pressure by the British
  149. 5:24government to change its editorial
  150. 5:26policy are you aware of
  151. 5:28that this is this is not an interview
  152. 5:31about the BBC oh you thought it
  153. 5:33wasn't and this I see now why you've
  154. 5:35done Twitter spaces I am not a
  155. 5:37representative of the BBC's editorial
  156. 5:38policy I want to make that clear let's
  157. 5:40talk about something else you want to
  158. 5:41talk about BC all right let's let's
  159. 5:43let's talk about let's talk about
  160. 5:44something else you weren't expecting
  161. 5:45that
