  2. 0:03You don't need style, you need swag.
  3. 0:05Now, what exactly is swag? Well,
  4. 0:07according to Mike Fresh from 2006, he
  5. 0:10defined swag to be the appearance,
  6. 0:12style, or the way he or she presents
  7. 0:15themselves. And that's exactly what it
  8. 0:17is. And then you also have other
  9. 0:18definitions like this one,
  10. 0:20>> a stupid excuse used by lame ass thugs
  11. 0:22and hipsters to justify the [ __ ]
  12. 0:24style and [ __ ] up color matching they
  13. 0:25wear. But I wanted to make this video
  14. 0:27because people seem to confuse the
  15. 0:29meaning behind style [music] and swag.
  16. 0:31Having nice style and having swag are
  17. 0:33not the same thing. Having style means
  18. 0:35knowing how to dress. While on the other
  19. 0:36hand, you can have swag with no style.
  20. 0:39Now, of course, if you have style
  21. 0:40[music] and swag, that's a bonus. And if
  22. 0:42you don't have any style and no swag, I
  23. 0:45I don't really know what to tell you.
  24. 0:47And the modern version of swag that
  25. 0:48we're all familiar with is the term
  26. 0:50aura. At least that's what the kids are
  27. 0:52saying nowadays. But the hipster English
  28. 0:54language seems to find various ways to
  29. 0:57reinvent old words and twist the
  30. 0:59definition into something else in the
  31. 1:01process. But this is where you may be
  32. 1:03thinking, well, how do I get swag? How
  33. 1:05do I equip swag in my inventory? Well,
  34. 1:07if we remember what Mike Fresh said,
  35. 1:09swag is the way you carry yourself.
  36. 1:11Which means at the end of the day, this
  37. 1:12all comes down to you. Swag isn't
  38. 1:15something that can be bought in a store.
  39. 1:17And sure, maybe some clothes or jewelry
  40. 1:19can amplify your swag, but that all
  41. 1:21means nothing if you don't even have any
  42. 1:22swag in the first place. And I'd also
  43. 1:24like to point out women can 100% have
  44. 1:27swag. Men, women, cat, dog, it really
  45. 1:30doesn't matter. And instead of telling
  46. 1:32you how to be swaggy, I'm instead going
  47. 1:34to show you people who have swag and
  48. 1:36we're going to break down what they all
  49. 1:37have in common. Now, the first person
  50. 1:38that immediately comes to my mind when I
  51. 1:40think of the word swag is Alan Iverson.
  52. 1:42Really just had that I don't give a [ __ ]
  53. 1:44what anyone says about me. I'm going to
  54. 1:46do whatever the [ __ ] I want whether you
  55. 1:47like it or not kind of mentality. And
  56. 1:49sure enough, that's exactly what he did.
  57. 1:51The NBA literally hated Allen Iverson.
  58. 1:53>> Robin Gibbon writes in the in the in the
  59. 1:55Washington Post today, she said, "That's
  60. 1:56the body language of a thug." And she's
  61. 1:58talking about the corn and everything
  62. 1:59else.
  63. 1:59>> This gangster prison attitude.
  64. 2:01>> In fact, they even implemented a dress
  65. 2:03code because of him. But people loved
  66. 2:05it. The fans loved it. He was cool,
  67. 2:08authentic, and it created character. But
  68. 2:10he's one of those people who didn't just
  69. 2:11have swag. He also had style as well.
  70. 2:14like the outfits he wore just added on
  71. 2:16top of the swag that he already had. And
  72. 2:17another person that has style and swag
  73. 2:20is Princess Diana. Like come on, man.
  74. 2:22She's wearing the [ __ ] out of these
  75. 2:24clothes and she's letting it be known
  76. 2:25that she has that [ __ ] on. She's really
  77. 2:27one of those people that can just make
  78. 2:28anything look good. It really doesn't
  79. 2:30matter what she's wearing. Like let's
  80. 2:31just take a look at this photo of Forel
  81. 2:33Williams. Literally just wearing a
  82. 2:34t-shirt with a hat. That's it. [music]
  83. 2:36But it's still swag. He just has
  84. 2:38something within him that just gives off
  85. 2:40that energy. Some people really just got
  86. 2:42it. Like you could just tell when
  87. 2:43someone has that energy to them. It's
  88. 2:44the same for ASAP Rocky, Chief Keef.
  89. 2:47[music] And man, honestly, if you want
  90. 2:48to talk about swag, Mario Bellatelli,
  91. 2:51this [ __ ] has that [ __ ] on. When
  92. 2:53you have swag, there's really no such
  93. 2:55thing as a bad outfit. And I'm not even
  94. 2:57saying that his outfits are bad, but of
  95. 2:59course, his swag is much more than his
  96. 3:00outfit. His hair carries a lot of weight
  97. 3:02in his appearance, as well as the way he
  98. 3:04carries himself, which is also a part of
  99. 3:05his swag. Like dead ass. I'm probably
  100. 3:07hating here, but this outfit right here
  101. 3:09really isn't even that special. outfit
  102. 3:11only looks good because he's the one
  103. 3:13wearing it. I know that sounds like
  104. 3:14insane glaze. This video is pretty much
  105. 3:16just one big [ __ ] glaze session, but
  106. 3:19it's true. Most people can't pull this
  107. 3:21outfit off. He's wearing cuffed joggers
  108. 3:23with whatever kind of shoes these are,
  109. 3:25but they all share the same
  110. 3:26characteristics in that they don't
  111. 3:28really give a [ __ ] It doesn't matter
  112. 3:29what people say about the hair, their
  113. 3:31clothes, their appearance. If they're
  114. 3:33going to do something or wear something,
  115. 3:35they're going to do it. They're relaxed
  116. 3:37and free. You can tell by the way they
  117. 3:39walk that they don't got a stick up
  118. 3:40their ass. You know, they're not walking
  119. 3:42around stiff as [ __ ] Everything is just
  120. 3:44natural to them. They don't really look
  121. 3:45out of place. They look like they belong
  122. 3:47in their body. They look like they
  123. 3:48belong in their clothes. You can wear as
  124. 3:50many clothes as you want. You can have
  125. 3:51the nicest outfits. But if you don't
  126. 3:53feel comfortable in your own skin,
  127. 3:54you're always just going to feel like
  128. 3:55something's out of place. I'm saying
  129. 3:57this from experience. Swag is also
  130. 3:59something that just can't be forced.
  131. 4:01Like, you know, when you look at someone
  132. 4:02and you can just tell they're being
  133. 4:03performative as [ __ ] That's just not
  134. 4:05who they really are. like they're
  135. 4:06playing the wrong role in a movie. Like
  136. 4:08they're just trying too hard to be
  137. 4:09different or their whole personality is
  138. 4:11just I'm different so that means I'm
  139. 4:12better than you. Like you can't force
  140. 4:14something that isn't there. If you have
  141. 4:16swag, you have swag. A lame person can
  142. 4:19get rich, but that doesn't mean he's
  143. 4:20cool all of a sudden. It just means he's
  144. 4:22a lame person with money. Same thing for
  145. 4:24fashion. There's a lot of people who put
  146. 4:25on clothes thinking the clothes are
  147. 4:27going to make them cool, but it's the
  148. 4:28complete opposite because you're
  149. 4:30supposed to make the clothes look cool.
  150. 4:31And if the clothes look cool on top of
  151. 4:33you being cool, then that's a bonus. A
  152. 4:35lot of these fashion people put on
  153. 4:36clothes and then all of a sudden they
  154. 4:38think they're better than everyone else
  155. 4:39or they just turn into a bunch of
  156. 4:40narcissistic [ __ ] that makes fun of
  157. 4:42other people's outfits and then they
  158. 4:44want to say they have swag. Like, bro,
  159. 4:45if anything, you're just an [ __ ]
  160. 4:47It's almost like being confident versus
  161. 4:49being an arrogant piece of [ __ ] That's
  162. 4:50kind of what I would compare the real
  163. 4:52swag to whatever the [ __ ] this fake swag
  164. 4:54or these fashion [ __ ] are. Um,
  165. 4:57hopefully that makes sense. But if you
  166. 4:59really want to know how to get your swag
  167. 5:00up, there are lots of ways you can do
  168. 5:03this. You don't need expensive pieces.
  169. 5:04You don't got to be up to date with the
  170. 5:06latest fashion trends. I cannot express
  171. 5:08this enough. The swag is everything.
  172. 5:10Swag could literally solve world hunger
  173. 5:12for [ __ ] sake. Now, if you want to
  174. 5:14come off as a bit more swaggy or just
  175. 5:15genuinely have a nice energy to your
  176. 5:17outfits. You have to take in account the
  177. 5:19little things about yourself. Know, even
  178. 5:21the way you walk, the way you talk, the
  179. 5:23way you smell. If you don't take any
  180. 5:24showers or bathe yourself, you should
  181. 5:26probably start doing that. I shouldn't
  182. 5:28be the one to tell you that. It really
  183. 5:29all comes down to the small details.
  184. 5:31Everything starts adding up. Find what's
  185. 5:33most comfortable for you. Some of you
  186. 5:34are going to have to get out of your
  187. 5:35comfort zone. A lot of you might be
  188. 5:37comfortable with kind of having a fake
  189. 5:39fabricated personality or even a
  190. 5:41fabricated fashion sense just to please
  191. 5:43other people. Maybe it's because your
  192. 5:44parents don't let you dress a certain
  193. 5:46way. But for most people, it's because
  194. 5:47you're the only person holding you back
  195. 5:49from dressing the way you want to dress
  196. 5:51or acting the way you want to act. Like,
  197. 5:52bro, I'm wearing a white t-shirt right
  198. 5:54now with [ __ ] Family Guy pajamas.
  199. 5:58Man, tell me my swag is in fire as [ __ ]
  200. 6:00right now. I'll walk the streets of
  201. 6:02Chicago wearing Family Guy pajamas and I
  202. 6:05will pull a 45-year-old milk. I'm not
  203. 6:07saying I have swag, but at the very
  204. 6:09least, I'm confident in myself. That
  205. 6:11confidence is also going to show in my
  206. 6:16[gasps] [ __ ] And that and that
  207. 6:18confidence is also going to show in my
  208. 6:20outfit. I've said this before and I'll
  209. 6:21say it again. I know it's not the
  210. 6:23easiest thing to do to just be
  211. 6:25confident. It could take years to build
  212. 6:27your confidence. You may never be
  213. 6:28confident in your life. There's a lot of
  214. 6:30videos out there, a lot of books you can
  215. 6:32read on how to build your confidence.
  216. 6:34But at the end of the day, what's going
  217. 6:35to make you be confident is through life
  218. 6:37experience. Swag is really just about
  219. 6:39knowing yourself and being the person
  220. 6:41you are at the end of the day. Everybody
  221. 6:43has their own swag. Swag is authentic.
  222. 6:45Swag is kind of like DNA. Everybody has
  223. 6:48different DNA. Everybody has a different
  224. 6:50fingerprint. Everybody has different
  225. 6:52swag. Listen, man. I've never met two
  226. 6:54people with the same swag in my life.
  227. 6:55Your swag could also be your attitude.
  228. 6:57Dude, you want to be a [ __ ] Go
  229. 6:58ahead and be a [ __ ] As long as
  230. 7:00you're one of those nice [ __ ] Like,
  231. 7:02if that's just who you are, then take
  232. 7:03full advantage of your personality and
  233. 7:05use that to curate your style. I'm
  234. 7:07telling you, man, style literally means
  235. 7:10nothing if you don't have swag. Style
  236. 7:12can only take you so far in this world.
  237. 7:14It's like a McDonald's cheeseburger. You
  238. 7:16know, you're going to eat it. It's not
  239. 7:17really going to fool you up. It's just
  240. 7:18temporary pleasure. But the swag is like
  241. 7:20a steak. Yeah, I don't really know what
  242. 7:22the [ __ ] I'm saying at this point. I
  243. 7:24think you understand what I'm trying to
  244. 7:25say here. I'm not trying to give you
  245. 7:27guys a corny ass analogy, but you know,
  246. 7:28another part about finding your swag is
  247. 7:30capitalizing on your energy. If you're
  248. 7:33an outgoing person, if you're a more
  249. 7:35mysterious, know you're kind of
  250. 7:36laidback, that's your energy. That's
  251. 7:38your swag. That's your aura. Oh man, I
  252. 7:41[ __ ] hate that word. Tap into that
  253. 7:42energy. And naturally, it's going to
  254. 7:44start to reflect with the way you carry
  255. 7:45yourself. And this is going to sink into
  256. 7:47your outfits. Carry yourself so that
  257. 7:49everything you're doing looks
  258. 7:50intentional or it's just carefree. This
  259. 7:52is something that I do in my life. This
  260. 7:54has honestly saved me so much
  261. 7:55embarrassment. I just told myself like I
  262. 7:58don't really give a [ __ ] anymore. I can
  263. 7:59judge me as God. Anyone else doesn't
  264. 8:01really matter to me. I can trip and fall
  265. 8:03in front of five goth baddies and I'm
  266. 8:05honestly just going to act like I did
  267. 8:07that on purpose. It's not bad to be the
  268. 8:08person that looks like they tried too
  269. 8:10hard. But at the same time, you don't
  270. 8:12want to carry yourself to the point
  271. 8:13where it's like, damn, he or she is
  272. 8:15trying way too hard to act this way or
  273. 8:17look this way to the point where it just
  274. 8:19doesn't look natural. Just lay back,
  275. 8:21man. Just have fun with your life. Have
  276. 8:23fun with your clothes. Have fun with
  277. 8:25fashion. Have fun with people. Nothing
  278. 8:28matters at the end of the day except for
  279. 8:30your swag. Your swag can genuinely save
  280. 8:33your life one day and might be able to
  281. 8:34get you out of a speeding ticket for
  282. 8:36[ __ ] sake. The moral of this video,
  283. 8:38you don't need style, you need swag. And
  284. 8:40ultimately, in the famous words of Mike
  285. 8:42Fresh, it's the way you carry yourself.
  286. 8:44You know, having a nice style can
  287. 8:45amplify your swag, but it can only do so
  288. 8:48much. This is probably your first time
