- 0:00Welcome back. This is Asylum Knight,
- 0:02checking in from Kingdom 274.
- 0:05A while back I made a video on heroes
- 0:07and formations, and honestly, looking
- 0:10back at it now, it barely scratched the
- 0:12surface. So today, we are doing the
- 0:14complete version, properly, start to
- 0:17finish. I am making this video so even
- 0:20beginners understand the basics. If you
- 0:22are playing from a while and know the
- 0:24basic things, use the pinned comment to
- 0:26navigate to the section that you want to
- 0:28watch.
- 0:29We will be covering what roles actually
- 0:31mean, what factions actually mean,
- 0:34including that five heroes from the same
- 0:36faction bonus a lot of you keep asking
- 0:38about. How skills actually work under
- 0:42the hood, including the difference
- 0:44between a passive, an active, and an
- 0:46ultimate. How troops fit into all of
- 0:49this alongside your heroes.
- 0:52And critically, how your formation
- 0:54should genuinely change depending on
- 0:56whether you are fighting the rat [music]
- 0:57swarm, reclaiming territory, leading an
- 1:00alliance rally, or stepping into PvP.
- 1:03This is going to be a long one, so get
- 1:06comfortable because by the end of this
- 1:08you are going to understand your own
- 1:09roster better than most people who have
- 1:11been playing for months. Let's start
- 1:13with the foundation everything else
- 1:15builds on. Every hero's total combat
- 1:17strength comes from four things working
- 1:19together at the same time. Their level,
- 1:22their star rating, their skills, and
- 1:25their gear. We already did a full
- 1:27episode on gear specifically, so today
- 1:29is mostly about the other three,
- 1:31especially skills, since that is
- 1:33genuinely the piece I think most players
- 1:35never properly learn. They just tap
- 1:37upgrade buttons without understanding
- 1:39what they are actually improving. Let's
- 1:41talk about roles first, and I mean
- 1:43actually explain them this time, not
- 1:45just give you a one-line definition. The
- 1:47heroes are divided into three roles,
- 1:49which are tank, carry, and support. A
- 1:52tank's entire job is standing at the
- 1:54front of your formation and making sure
- 1:56nobody behind them takes a hit they
- 1:58didn't have to.
- 1:59But, here is what actually separates a
- 2:01good tank from a genuinely great one in
- 2:03this game. It is not just raw health and
- 2:05defense numbers on a stat sheet. The
- 2:07best tanks have kits that protect the
- 2:09whole team, not just themselves. Arthur
- 2:12is the textbook example of this done
- 2:13right.
- 2:14His passive, called Tenacious Will,
- 2:18reduces damage taken by every tank on
- 2:20your team, not just him personally. His
- 2:23active skill, Solid as a Rock, throws up
- 2:26sized off his own maximum health.
- 2:29And his ultimate, Earth Shattering, hits
- 2:31everything nearby, while also cutting
- 2:34incoming damage for your entire squad
- 2:36for several seconds afterward.
- 2:38That combination, personal survivability
- 2:41plus team-wide protection, is exactly
- 2:43why Arthur is considered the best tank
- 2:45in the game almost universally across
- 2:47every guide I looked at.
- 2:49He is not just hard to kill.
- 2:51He makes everyone standing behind him
- 2:53hard to kill, too.
- 2:55Carries are your damage. That part is
- 2:57simple. But, here is something worth
- 2:59understanding properly, because not
- 3:01every carry kit works the same way, and
- 3:03treating them all identically is a
- 3:05mistake. Some carries, like Marlena, are
- 3:08built around consistent, spamable damage
- 3:11output. Her passive boosts her own
- 3:13energy damage directly, and she has a
- 3:15separate skill that reduces her own cool
- 3:17downs.
- 3:18Meaning in practice, she is throwing out
- 3:20abilities constantly, rather than
- 3:22sitting there waiting for energy to
- 3:23refill.
- 3:24Other carries, like Grenwald, are pure
- 3:27glass cannon burst units. Massive single
- 3:29hits, very little defense to speak of.
- 3:32Meaning his entire value depends
- 3:34entirely on your tank actually holding
- 3:36the line in front of him. And then you
- 3:38have specialists that don't fit either
- 3:40mold cleanly.
- 3:42Clare's buff scales off the attack power
- 3:44of your three highest attack heroes,
- 3:46meaning she genuinely gets stronger the
- 3:47further your account develops. She is
- 3:49not a static damage number.
- 3:51She is a multiplier that grows with you.
- 3:54Bestar is a bleed specialist, meaning
- 3:56her value climbs the longer a fight
- 3:58drags on, since damage over time needs
- 4:01time to actually stack up, which makes
- 4:03her weak in a fast clear and strong in a
- 4:05grinding boss fight.
- 4:07Support is the role I think most people
- 4:09genuinely misunderstand, because in this
- 4:11game it is rarer and stranger than you'd
- 4:14expect coming from other mobile strategy
- 4:16titles.
- 4:17Healing in the traditional sense barely
- 4:20exists here.
- 4:21Right now, Stella is the only dedicated
- 4:24healer in the entire roster, and even
- 4:26her heal is conditional. It triggers
- 4:28specifically when she herself dies,
- 4:30healing whichever ally on your team
- 4:32currently has the lowest health at that
- 4:34exact moment.
- 4:36That is a clutch once per fight safety
- 4:38[music] net, not a sustained heal over
- 4:40time you can rely on throughout a whole
- 4:42battle.
- 4:43Most of what gets labeled support in
- 4:44this game is actually buffing,
- 4:46debuffing, or utility effects. Things
- 4:49that make your other heroes hit harder
- 4:51or survive better,
- 4:53rather than keeping people topped up on
- 4:54health directly.
- 4:56Now, factions. Warrior, Ranger, and
- 5:00Warlock.
- 5:01This is the second half of every hero's
- 5:03identity, and I want to be clear about
- 5:05something. It stacks on top of their
- 5:07role. It does not replace it or compete
- 5:10with it.
- 5:11So, a hero is never just described as a
- 5:13tank. They are a warrior tank, or a
- 5:16ranger tank, or a warlock tank. And that
- 5:19faction tag matters for two completely
- 5:21separate reasons we are about to get
- 5:22into.
- 5:23One being the stacking bonus, the other
- 5:26being a counter system.
- 5:28Warrior is your entry point faction, the
- 5:30one the game clearly wants new players
- 5:32building first, and this is not an
- 5:33accident of game design.
- 5:35Arthur,
- 5:36Marlena, Bella, Claire, they are all
- 5:40warrior, and that is deliberate. This is
- 5:44intentionally the easiest faction to
- 5:46build a complete, functional
- 5:48five-hero squad around using entirely
- 5:50free-to-play heroes.
- 5:52If you have been following this channel
- 5:54from the F2P team episode,
- 5:56>> [music]
- 5:56>> that entire lineup we recommended,
- 5:58Arthur, Lucius, Claire, Kesso, Celia,
- 6:02every single one of them is warrior.
- 6:05That was not a coincidence on our part,
- 6:06either. It is simply how the game is
- 6:08structured for new players.
- 6:10Ranger heroes tend to specialize
- 6:12specifically against monsters rather
- 6:13than against other players, and this
- 6:15distinction matters a lot more than it
- 6:17sounds like it should. Griffith is the
- 6:19clearest example of this pattern. His
- 6:21spirit snake aura reduces monster damage
- 6:24taken by your entire team, which makes
- 6:26him absolutely incredible in rat swarm
- 6:28and territory reclamation,
- 6:30both modes where you are fighting
- 6:31monsters, but noticeably weaker in PvP,
- 6:34since his whole kit is built to counter
- 6:36monster-type enemies specifically, not
- 6:39enemy players.
- 6:40Bestar, also ranger, brings that bleed
- 6:43and damage over time specialty we
- 6:45already talked about under carries.
- 6:47Warlock is your magic damage faction,
- 6:49and it is genuinely home to some of the
- 6:51most extreme highs and lows in the
- 6:53entire roster.
- 6:55Grennwal is a glass cannon, incredible
- 6:57damage output, minimal survivability, a
- 7:00hero who lives or dies based entirely on
- 7:02whether your front line is doing its
- 7:04job. Stellar, also warlock, is your only
- 7:08dedicated healer.
- 7:09And there is a newer hero worth knowing
- 7:11about if you haven't already run into
- 7:13him, Brian, a warlock tank who actually
- 7:15reflects a massive portion of damage
- 7:18straight back at whoever attacks him
- 7:19while he is enraged. Plus, his ultimate
- 7:22grants the whole team a solid chunk of
- 7:24damage reduction on top of that.
- 7:26He tanks completely differently from
- 7:28Arthur, leaning on reflection and
- 7:30punishment rather than pure mitigation
- 7:32and shielding, and he currently sits at
- 7:34that same top tier as Arthur,
- 7:36just via a totally different mechanical
- 7:38approach.
- 7:40All right, let's properly talk about the
- 7:42faction bonus, because I know a lot of
- 7:44you have heard the term thrown around,
- 7:46but maybe never gotten the actual
- 7:47mechanic explained clearly. So, let's
- 7:49fix that right now. When you run
- 7:51multiple heroes from the same faction
- 7:53together in one squad, you unlock a
- 7:55stacking attribute bonus that applies
- 7:57across your whole team. Three heroes
- 8:00from the same faction
- 8:01>> [music]
- 8:01>> gets you a 5% bonus.
- 8:03Push that up to four heroes from the
- 8:05same faction and it jumps to 15%.
- 8:09And if you manage to run a full five
- 8:11heroes from one single faction, that
- 8:13bonus hits 20%.
- 8:15Let that sink in for a second. 20% is a
- 8:18genuinely massive, completely free
- 8:21[music] power increase.
- 8:22And it costs you nothing except paying
- 8:25attention to who you are actually
- 8:26building instead of just grabbing
- 8:28whichever hero looks flashiest on paper.
- 8:31This is exactly why a lot of stronger,
- 8:34more developed squads deliberately stay
- 8:36committed to one or two factions rather
- 8:38than mixing and matching purely based on
- 8:40individual hero strength. A slightly
- 8:43weaker hero that keeps your faction
- 8:45count intact can genuinely outperform a
- 8:47slightly stronger hero that breaks it.
- 8:49Once you actually do the math on that
- 8:5120% multiplier applying across your
- 8:53entire team's stats,
- 8:55there is also a separate faction counter
- 8:57system layered on top of the stacking
- 8:59bonus where certain factions are
- 9:01supposed to hold an advantage in direct
- 9:02combat against certain other factions,
- 9:05similar to a rock, paper, scissors
- 9:07setup. I want to be completely honest
- 9:09with you here, though, because I dug
- 9:11through several different guides while
- 9:12researching this and they flatly
- 9:14disagree on which faction actually beats
- 9:17which.
- 9:18Some sources have warrior beating
- 9:19ranger, ranger beating warlock, and
- 9:22warlock beating warrior. Other sources
- 9:24describe the exact opposite direction of
- 9:26that same triangle. So, rather than
- 9:29confidently hand you something that
- 9:30might be flat out wrong and have you
- 9:32make [music] bad PvP decisions off it, I
- 9:34am telling you straight, verify this one
- 9:36yourself in game or treat it as
- 9:39something still being tested by the
- 9:40community rather than settled fact. All
- 9:43right.
- 9:44Skills. This is the part I really want
- 9:46you to pay close attention to because I
- 9:49genuinely don't think we have ever
- 9:50properly explained this before on this
- 9:52channel.
- 9:53And
- 9:54understanding it changes how you should
- 9:56actually be spending your upgrade
- 9:58materials going forward.
- 10:00Every hero has three layers of skill and
- 10:03they work completely differently from
- 10:04one another. So, let's go through each
- 10:06one individually. The passive is always
- 10:09on. It does not need energy. It does not
- 10:12need you to trigger anything. It is
- 10:14simply a permanent effect running
- 10:15quietly in the background the entire
- 10:17time that hero is sitting in your active
- 10:19squad.
- 10:20Arthur's team-wide tank damage reduction
- 10:22is a passive. Marlena's boost to her own
- 10:25energy damage is a passive.
- 10:27These are the skills making your entire
- 10:29squad stronger every single second of
- 10:31every fight completely independent of
- 10:33whether you are actively watching the
- 10:34screen or not.
- 10:36The active skill works differently. And
- 10:38this is where the energy bar comes in.
- 10:41It charges up as your hero deals damage
- 10:43or takes damage during combat.
- 10:45>> [music]
- 10:45>> And once that bar is completely full,
- 10:47their character portrait actually glows
- 10:49on your screen to signal it is ready.
- 10:51At that point, you have a choice. You
- 10:53can either manually trigger the skill
- 10:55yourself for precise timing, saving it
- 10:57for exactly the right moment in a tough
- 10:59fight.
- 11:00Or you can let auto activation handle it
- 11:03automatically if you are not actively
- 11:05watching that particular battle play
- 11:07out. Arthur's shield is an active skill,
- 11:10meaning it fires when you actually need
- 11:12it most in a dangerous moment, not on
- 11:14some fixed timer regardless of what's
- 11:16happening in the fight. The ultimate
- 11:18sits above both of those in terms of
- 11:20impact, typically the biggest, most
- 11:22dramatic effect a hero has available.
- 11:25Things like Arthur's earth shattering
- 11:27hitting everything nearby.
- 11:29Or Marlena's sword wind barrage striking
- 11:31multiple enemies at once with heavy
- 11:33energy damage.
- 11:34Here is the part that actually matters
- 11:36for how you should be spending your
- 11:37limited resources. And this is genuinely
- 11:40the most practical piece of advice in
- 11:42this entire video. When you are
- 11:44upgrading a hero's skills, do not spread
- 11:46your materials evenly across their
- 11:48passive, [music] active, and ultimate
- 11:50like most new players instinctively do.
- 11:52Prioritize whichever skill actually
- 11:55defines that hero's core role first,
- 11:57every single time.
- 11:59For a pure damage carry like Marlena,
- 12:01that means her passive, specifically the
- 12:03one boosting her own energy damage, gets
- 12:06upgraded before anything else she has.
- 12:08Because that passive is quietly
- 12:10multiplying everything else she does for
- 12:12the rest of every fight she's in.
- 12:14For a tank like Arthur, his team-wide
- 12:16damage reduction passive comes first,
- 12:19ahead of his shield, ahead of his
- 12:20ultimate, because that is the skill
- 12:22protecting your entire squad
- 12:24simultaneously.
- 12:25Not just keeping him personally alive.
- 12:28Once that one defining skill is properly
- 12:30invested and pulling its weight, then
- 12:32and only then do you start branching out
- 12:34into their other abilities.
- 12:36And just like hero levels and gear, do
- 12:38not spread these skill upgrades evenly
- 12:40across your whole roster, either.
- 12:42Concentrate hard on your core five first
- 12:44before you even think about a sixth or
- 12:46seventh hero.
- 12:47One more genuinely important detail
- 12:49worth knowing, star rating and skill
- 12:52level are actually two connected but
- 12:54separate systems.
- 12:55Leveling a hero using metals increases
- 12:58the raw underlying power behind their
- 12:59existing skills. Bigger shields, more
- 13:02damage, that sort of scaling.
- 13:04But increasing a hero's star rating is
- 13:06what actually unlocks entirely
- 13:08additional skill effects, meaning star
- 13:11rank is not just a bigger number sitting
- 13:12next to their name.
- 13:14It can genuinely add new functionality
- 13:16to a skill that simply did not exist at
- 13:18a lower star level.
- 13:20So, if a hero feels like they're missing
- 13:22something a guide describes, check their
- 13:24star level before assuming the guide is
- 13:26wrong.
- 13:27Now, I want to take a detour here that
- 13:30we haven't properly covered before
- 13:32because heroes are only half the combat
- 13:34picture. Troops are the other half.
- 13:37And a lot of players completely ignore
- 13:39this side while obsessing over hero
- 13:40skills.
- 13:42The simplest way to think about the
- 13:43relationship, heroes lead the squad,
- 13:46troops carry the fight. Your heroes
- 13:48provide the skills, the formation value,
- 13:51and basically all the strategic
- 13:53decision-making you see play out on
- 13:55screen. Troops provide the raw numbers
- 13:57and combat weight [music] standing
- 13:58behind each squad, actually doing the
- 14:01fighting.
- 14:02If your troop base is weak, [music]
- 14:03undersized, or the wrong tier, your
- 14:06squad can underperform badly even when
- 14:08your heroes individually look strong on
- 14:10paper
- 14:11because there's simply isn't enough raw
- 14:13army behind them to back up what your
- 14:15heroes are doing.
- 14:16Troops run on a tier system, commonly
- 14:19discussed from tier one up through tier
- 14:2110.
- 14:22Higher tier troops are meaningfully
- 14:24stronger per unit, but they also demand
- 14:26stronger buildings, deeper research
- 14:28investment, [music] and more resources
- 14:30to train efficiently.
- 14:32Here's a mistake worth avoiding,
- 14:33training a massive quantity of low tier
- 14:36troops instead of pushing to unlock the
- 14:38next tier up. A smaller army built from
- 14:40a higher troop tier will generally
- 14:42outperform a larger army stuck on a
- 14:44lower tier across city defense,
- 14:46territory fights, rat swarm waves,
- 14:49basically every combat scenario that
- 14:51matters.
- 14:52Every extra day spent mass training a
- 14:54tier you could be upgrading past is
- 14:56combat power you don't get back.
- 14:59Practically, that means keeping your
- 15:00training queue active constantly rather
- 15:03than letting it sit idle, upgrading one
- 15:05main training grounds building as your
- 15:06priority rather than spreading upgrades
- 15:09evenly,
- 15:10using promotion to convert existing
- 15:12lower tier troops upward when it saves
- 15:13you time compared to training fresh
- 15:15troops from scratch,
- 15:17and saving your speed up items
- 15:18specifically for event windows where
- 15:20that training translates into event
- 15:22points, as well as raw troop power.
- 15:25And don't forget the resource side of
- 15:26this, either. Keep your grain output
- 15:29comfortably ahead of your camp
- 15:30consumption rate, because if grain hits
- 15:32zero,
- 15:34your troop training and base expansion
- 15:36both stall out completely, regardless of
- 15:38how much you actually want to be
- 15:39training right now.
- 15:41So, let's get into where all of this
- 15:43actually gets applied in practice,
- 15:45because a formation that works perfectly
- 15:47in one mode can fall apart completely in
- 15:49a different one.
- 15:51And this is where a lot of players
- 15:52genuinely go wrong. They build one squad
- 15:55and just assume it works everywhere. Rat
- 15:57Swarm Defense is your core tower defense
- 15:59mode, and the entire design philosophy
- 16:01behind it is sustained survivability
- 16:03over raw burst damage.
- 16:05You are dealing with wave after wave of
- 16:07enemies, eventually culminating in the
- 16:10Rat King himself.
- 16:11A boss with a genuinely massive health
- 16:14pool, specifically designed to punish
- 16:16glass cannon squads that can't survive
- 16:17long enough to actually bring him down.
- 16:20This is exactly why the most commonly
- 16:21recommended Rat Swarm composition runs
- 16:23two tanks and one support, rather than
- 16:26one tank and a pile of pure damage.
- 16:29Arthur up front as your primary anchor,
- 16:31Griffith as your second tank,
- 16:33specifically because his monster damage
- 16:35aura is at its absolute strongest in
- 16:36this exact mode.
- 16:38Stellar in your support slot for that
- 16:40clutch emergency heal when things go
- 16:41wrong, and then Marlena plus a flexible
- 16:43damage slot rounding out the rest of
- 16:45your offense.
- 16:46Two tanks and a support means your team
- 16:48survives long enough for your damage
- 16:50dealers and your defensive towers to
- 16:52actually finish the job together,
- 16:54rather than getting wiped out partway
- 16:56through [music] a wave before the fight
- 16:57is even decided.
- 16:59A genuinely practical tip here, do not
- 17:01attempt the Rat King fight itself until
- 17:03your pre-boss waves are already clearing
- 17:05comfortably.
- 17:06If you're visibly struggling before the
- 17:08boss even shows up on screen, pushing
- 17:11into that fight anyway just wastes your
- 17:13materials on a loss you could have
- 17:14predicted in advance.
- 17:16And before every major wave hits, get in
- 17:19the habit of repairing your structures,
- 17:21upgrading your key defensive towers, and
- 17:23restocking medicine ahead of time.
- 17:26Strong preparation is what turns a
- 17:28genuinely difficult wave into a
- 17:29manageable one.
- 17:31Territory reclamation works completely
- 17:33differently from rat swarm, and this
- 17:35trips up a lot of players specifically
- 17:37because they just bring their exact rat
- 17:39swarm squad over and wonder why it
- 17:41suddenly underperforms.
- 17:43These fights run longer. There are
- 17:45[music] no towers backing you up here.
- 17:47Your five heroes have to handle
- 17:48absolutely everything themselves from
- 17:50start to finish.
- 17:52And enemy variety tends to be higher
- 17:54than what you typically see during a
- 17:55swarm wave.
- 17:57The formation logic shifts toward
- 17:59genuine balance as a result. One durable
- 18:01front-line unit to absorb hits,
- 18:03>> [music]
- 18:03>> one consistent range damage dealer
- 18:05rather than a pure burst unit, and one
- 18:08control or support hero [music] rounding
- 18:10things out for overall survivability.
- 18:12This is also exactly where Bestars bleed
- 18:14specialty genuinely shines, since her
- 18:17damage-over-time effect actually gets
- 18:18enough time to stack up meaningfully
- 18:20across a longer engagement, something
- 18:22that barely gets the chance to ramp up
- 18:24during a quick rat swarm wave.
- 18:27PVP is its own animal entirely, and it's
- 18:30worth understanding properly even if
- 18:32you're not deep into it yet, since the
- 18:34alliance versus alliance content in this
- 18:36game is still actively expanding. In PVP
- 18:40specifically, burst damage matters far
- 18:42more than sustained damage, simply
- 18:44because fights are short, and whichever
- 18:46team kills a key enemy hero first
- 18:49typically wins the entire engagement
- 18:51outright.
- 18:52Control abilities, stuns, silences,
- 18:55debuffs that lock enemy heroes out of
- 18:57using their own skills entirely, become
- 19:00genuinely critical here,
- 19:02since they create windows for your own
- 19:04damage to land completely uncontested,
- 19:06and tank utility actually shifts meaning
- 19:09in this context, too. It becomes less
- 19:12about pure survival and more about
- 19:14active disruption.
- 19:16Protecting your carries long enough for
- 19:17them to land the kill, rather than just
- 19:19soaking damage indefinitely with no real
- 19:21plan.
- 19:22This is also exactly why Griffith, so
- 19:25dominant against monsters, loses a
- 19:27noticeable chunk of his relative value
- 19:29in PvP specifically. His entire aura was
- 19:32built to counter monster type enemies,
- 19:35not other players heroes.
- 19:37Now, rallies and alliance play more
- 19:39broadly because a lot of you have asked
- 19:42about this specifically and we genuinely
- 19:44haven't covered it properly yet.
- 19:46A rally in this game is essentially your
- 19:48entire alliance combining forces under
- 19:51one single player squad to hit a big
- 19:53target together. Whether that's a tough
- 19:55monster, a boss encounter, or an enemy
- 19:58structure out on the map. Here is
- 20:00something genuinely important that a lot
- 20:02of newer players get completely
- 20:03backwards. You do not need to be the one
- 20:06leading every single rally yourself.
- 20:08In fact, most of the actual guidance
- 20:10around this points the other direction
- 20:12entirely. Support strong, already
- 20:15established rally leaders within your
- 20:17alliance, rather than trying to initiate
- 20:19every rally on your own from scratch.
- 20:22Troop numbers alone do not guarantee a
- 20:24win here.
- 20:25A rally led by someone running a weak,
- 20:27mismatched hero lineup [music] can
- 20:29genuinely underperform badly even backed
- 20:31by huge troop numbers
- 20:33because the leader's actual hero squad
- 20:35and skill setup is what the entire
- 20:37rally's combat performance is built
- 20:39around. Everyone else is essentially
- 20:41reinforcing that one squad's fight.
- 20:44If you are the one leading or getting
- 20:46asked to lead by your alliance, your
- 20:48hero choices matter just as much here as
- 20:50they do in solo content, arguably more.
- 20:53Since you now have your whole alliance's
- 20:55committed troops riding on how well your
- 20:58squad specifically performs.
- 21:00A durable front line capable of
- 21:02surviving an extended fight paired with
- 21:05your strongest sustain damage dealer
- 21:07tends to noticeably outperform a fragile
- 21:09glass cannon lineup in a rally setting.
- 21:12Purely because rally targets tend to be
- 21:14tougher and rally fights tend to run
- 21:16longer than your average solo encounter.
- 21:19Your troop composition matters here,
- 21:21too. Entirely separate from your hero
- 21:23choices.
- 21:24As we covered, troops contribute
- 21:26directly to your overall might, your
- 21:28rally capacity specifically, and your
- 21:30raw combat performance in the fight
- 21:32itself. And just like with heroes,
- 21:35balanced troop formations tend to
- 21:36outperform simply training the biggest
- 21:38possible number regardless of tier or
- 21:40composition.
- 21:41Faction synergy actually extends to your
- 21:44troops as well as your heroes. The
- 21:46deeper you get into this game,
- 21:48which is one more reason staying
- 21:49reasonably committed to [music] one or
- 21:50two factions pays off over time, rather
- 21:53than diversifying purely for its own
- 21:55sake. All right, let's actually go
- 21:58through the roster properly now, hero by
- 22:00hero. So, you walk away from this
- 22:02knowing exactly what you're working
- 22:04with. Not just vague impressions.
- 22:07Arthur, warrior tank, you are rarity.
- 22:10The best tank in the game, full stop.
- 22:13And it isn't particularly close.
- 22:15Team-wide damage reduction passive, a
- 22:18personal shield on his active skill, and
- 22:21an AoE ultimate that also protects his
- 22:23allies on top of dealing damage.
- 22:25Build him first, no exceptions
- 22:27whatsoever. Every other hero in your
- 22:29squad performs noticeably better once
- 22:31he's properly invested in.
- 22:33Marlena, warrior carry, you are rarity.
- 22:38Your primary damage dealer, energy-based
- 22:40attacks, a passive that boosts her own
- 22:42damage output further, and cooldown
- 22:44reduction that lets her fire off
- 22:45abilities constantly rather than sitting
- 22:47around waiting.
- 22:48Position her safely behind your tank and
- 22:50let her do the work she's built for.
- 22:53Bella, warrior tank, SSR rarity. The
- 22:56best Arthur alternative for anyone who
- 22:58hasn't pulled him yet. Heavy physical
- 23:00damage from her axe, plus skills that
- 23:02reduce monster damage taken and lower
- 23:04enemy attack power.
- 23:06Once you do eventually get Arthur, she
- 23:08doesn't get benched entirely. She simply
- 23:11shifts into a very capable off-tank role
- 23:13instead.
- 23:14Grenwald, warlock carry, SSR rarity, a
- 23:18true glass cannon, devastating magic
- 23:20damage, very little defense to speak of.
- 23:24His passive boosts your entire team's
- 23:25damage against monsters, not just his
- 23:28own personal output, which is a nice bit
- 23:30of hidden team-wide value people often
- 23:32overlook.
- 23:33He absolutely needs a real tank standing
- 23:35in front of him to function properly,
- 23:37but once protected, his output genuinely
- 23:40rivals some UR tier heroes.
- 23:43Stella, warlock support, SSR rarity, the
- 23:47only dedicated healer in the game
- 23:48currently.
- 23:49Her passive triggers specifically on her
- 23:51own death, healing whichever ally on
- 23:54your team has the lowest health at that
- 23:55exact moment, a genuine clutch survival
- 23:58mechanic for tough boss fights.
- 24:00Her ultimate also buffs your team's
- 24:02overall damage against monsters, a
- 24:04priority support investment, especially
- 24:07for rat swarm content specifically.
- 24:09Griffith, ranger tank, currently sits as
- 24:12a somewhat underrated pick relative to
- 24:14how strong he actually is.
- 24:16His spirit snake aura reduces monster
- 24:18damage taken across your entire team,
- 24:20making him an excellent second tank
- 24:22behind Arthur, especially in rat swarm
- 24:24and territory reclamation.
- 24:26His value drops noticeably in PvP since
- 24:28his whole kit is built to counter
- 24:30monsters specifically, not enemy
- 24:32players.
- 24:33Claire,
- 24:34warrior carry with a support lean, SSR
- 24:37rarity,
- 24:38a single target specialist whose buff
- 24:40scales directly with the attack power of
- 24:42your three highest attack heroes,
- 24:44meaning she genuinely gets better the
- 24:46more your entire account develops over
- 24:48time.
- 24:49Her large sword AoE skill also functions
- 24:51as a solid wave clearer [music] when
- 24:53needed. Best suited for boss focused
- 24:55content where sustained single target
- 24:57damage matters more than pure area
- 24:59coverage.
- 25:00B star, ranger carry, SSR rarity. Your
- 25:03dedicated bleed and damage over time
- 25:05specialist.
- 25:07Her ultimate summons ghostly cats that
- 25:09strike multiple enemies and apply bleed,
- 25:11and her passive increases her own damage
- 25:14further against anything already
- 25:15bleeding. Shines hardest in longer
- 25:18fights like territory reclamation
- 25:20specifically, where that damage over
- 25:22time actually gets the time it needs to
- 25:24stack up meaningfully. Brian, warlock
- 25:27tank, UR rarity, and genuinely new to
- 25:31the roster if you haven't run into him
- 25:32yet.
- 25:33While enraged, he reflects a massive
- 25:35portion of incoming damage straight back
- 25:38at whoever hit him, and his ultimate
- 25:39grants your entire team a solid chunk of
- 25:42damage reduction on top of that.
- 25:44He tanks completely differently from
- 25:46Arthur, leaning on reflection and
- 25:48punishment rather than pure mitigation
- 25:50and shielding, and he currently sits at
- 25:52that same top tier as a result.
- 25:55Kesso, Siver, Lucius, and Celia. All
- 25:59warrior, all SSR rarity, and all heroes
- 26:02a lot of you already have sitting in
- 26:04your roster from our free-to-play team
- 26:06episode. I want to be straight with you
- 26:08here rather than oversell them. Tier
- 26:10lists consistently rank these as solid
- 26:13single-target or multi-target tools that
- 26:15get you comfortably through the early
- 26:16game,
- 26:17but they do lack the scaling [music] and
- 26:19deeper synergy of the higher tier heroes
- 26:21we just covered in detail. That doesn't
- 26:23mean bench them immediately the moment
- 26:25you finish this video. It means treat
- 26:27them as the genuine bridge they were
- 26:29always meant to be, not as your final
- 26:32long-term destination. Billy, warlock
- 26:35tank,
- 26:36Cynthia and Red Lady, both ranger
- 26:39carries.
- 26:40Bell, ranger support, Jester, warlock
- 26:45carry, and Zoya, warrior carry.
- 26:49These round out the wider roster, and
- 26:51they all fill the exact same role and
- 26:53faction grid we've been discussing this
- 26:54entire video. Useful in the right
- 26:56specific context, but more situational
- 26:59compared to the heroes we've covered in
- 27:01real depth. Worth keeping in mind as
- 27:03flex options for your sixth or seventh
- 27:04roster slot rather than as core five
- 27:06material.
- 27:08For most general content, the most
- 27:10commonly recommended core five looks
- 27:11like this.
- 27:13Arthur as your tank, Marlena for damage,
- 27:16Stella for support, Griffith as your
- 27:18second tank, and a flexible fifth slot
- 27:20filled by Claire, Bestar, or Grenwald,
- 27:24depending on exactly what content you're
- 27:26facing that day. Your core three,
- 27:28Arthur, [music] Marlena, and your
- 27:30support hero, should stay consistent
- 27:32across almost everything you do in this
- 27:33game.
- 27:34It's specifically your fourth and fifth
- 27:36slots that flex based on the mode in
- 27:38front of you, leaning more defensive for
- 27:40rat swarm content, leaning more towards
- 27:43sustained damage for territory
- 27:44reclamation,
- 27:46and leaning toward burst and control
- 27:47once you're genuinely deep into PvP.
- 27:50If you're still building toward ideal
- 27:52squad and working with what you've got
- 27:54right now, your free-to-play foundation
- 27:56of Arthur, Lucius, Claire, Kesso, or
- 28:00Siver
- 28:01and Celia still holds up completely
- 28:03fine. And remember that entire lineup is
- 28:06warrior faction, meaning you're already
- 28:08banking that full faction bonus without
- 28:10even trying to.
- 28:12And a genuinely practical piece of
- 28:13advice to close this section out, don't
- 28:16try to build seven or eight heroes at
- 28:17once. Spreading your attention that thin
- 28:19helps nobody.
- 28:21Focus on five to seven heroes maximum,
- 28:23with your core five receiving the
- 28:25overwhelming bulk of your investment
- 28:27across level, skills, and gear.
- 28:30And two additional flex heroes, giving
- 28:32you just enough room to adjust for
- 28:34different modes without spreading your
- 28:36materials so thin that nothing ever
- 28:38actually finishes.
- 28:40Let's do a fast recap before we wrap up,
- 28:42because this was a lot of information.
- 28:45Tanks protect the whole team, not just
- 28:47themselves. The best ones have team-wide
- 28:49effects built into their kit. Carries
- 28:52come in different flavors: consistent,
- 28:55burst, and scaling, and they are not
- 28:57interchangeable. Support in this game
- 29:00means buffs and utility, far more often
- 29:03than it means healing.
- 29:04Factions stack on top of roles, and
- 29:06running three, four, or five heroes from
- 29:09one faction nets you 5, 15, or 20%
- 29:13attribute bonuses, respectively,
- 29:15completely free.
- 29:17Skills come in three layers: passive,
- 29:19active, and ultimate. And you should
- 29:21always upgrade whichever skill defines a
- 29:23hero's core role first.
- 29:25Troops matter just as much as heroes.
- 29:27Heroes lead, troops carry the actual
- 29:30fight.
- 29:31Rat Swarm wants survivability. Territory
- 29:33Reclamation wants balance. PvP wants
- 29:36burst and control. And rallies want you
- 29:38supporting strong leaders rather than
- 29:40always leading yourself.
- 29:42That is the complete picture.
- 29:44Roles, factions, the faction bonus fully
- 29:47explained, how skills actually function
- 29:50under the hood, how troops fit into your
- 29:52overall power,
- 29:54and how your [music] formation should
- 29:55genuinely shift depending on whether
- 29:57you're holding the line against the Rat
- 29:59Swarm, grinding out a Territory
- 30:00Reclamation, leading or supporting a
- 30:02rally for your alliance,
- 30:04or stepping into PvP.
- 30:06If you made it all the way through this
- 30:08one, drop a comment and let me know
- 30:10which mode you're building toward first,
- 30:11because I'm genuinely curious how many
- 30:13of you are rally leaders versus rally
- 30:15support [music] right now. See you in
- 30:17the next one.
