  1. 0:00The Xanadu brand has long been known as a Turkish hotel chain,
  2. 0:04and now a second resort of the same name has opened in Egypt.
  3. 0:08The first was the Xanadu Makadi, built in 2022,
  4. 0:12and we are checking into the Xanadu Club Makadi, which opened a month ago, in October 2025.
  5. 0:16Both are located next to each other in the Makadi area, considered a suburb of Hurghada,
  6. 0:21and share the same grounds, infrastructure, and concept.
  7. 0:26The lobby offers welcome drinks and sweets, reminiscent of Turkish hotels.
  8. 0:30While this is commonplace in Turkey, it's rare in Egypt.
  9. 0:35Even more rare in Egypt is that imported alcohol is included in the Ultra All-Inclusive concept.
  10. 0:40This perk is only available at the Rixos and Xanadu chains;
  11. 0:44at other, even more expensive hotels (such as the Steigenberger Aldau and Serry Beach), imported alcohol is available for an additional fee.
  12. 0:50The pastry shop next to the lobby bar is also a signature Turkish hotel treat – eclairs, cheesecakes, donuts, and burgers.
  13. 0:59The drinks menu includes Turkish coffee, freshly squeezed mango, strawberry, and orange juices
  14. 1:04, as well as packaged varieties of guava, tomato, grape, and pineapple. Beer is available in cans and on tap, along with white and rosé champagne.
  15. 1:12Cocktails are available, featuring both local premium spirits and imported ones.
  16. 1:47Besides drinks, you can also get chips, nuts, and fruit snacks at the bars.
  17. 2:11The Xanadu Club lobby is two stories high, and each floor has its own lobby bar.
  18. 2:15The one on the ground floor is open 24 hours a day, while the one on the second floor stays open until midnight.
  19. 2:28Another Blue Bar is located in the residential building by the pool and is open until 10:00 PM – that's the building we were checked into above the bar.
  20. 2:38All residential blocks are three stories high with elevators. We booked a standard garden view room on the second floor, so let's go check it out.
  21. 2:49Xanadu Club wasn't built from scratch; it's a renovated and partially rebuilt Tia Heights Makadi—
  22. 2:55some of you may have stayed at Tia or at least heard of it.
  23. 2:57The rooms have been completely renovated, with new floors, doors, window frames, plumbing, and furniture.
  24. 3:04In other words, the renovation wasn't just cosmetic, but extensive.
  25. 3:08Our room has two beds; most rooms are queen-size,
  26. 3:13which comfortably accommodates my daughter and me, but here we have narrow single beds.
  27. 3:17The bed linens, pillows, and blankets are all new and excellent quality.
  28. 3:25The buttons for "cleaning" and "do not disturb" are touch-sensitive.
  29. 3:34The TV is the largest we've seen in any new hotel.
  30. 3:38Upon check-in, the hotel offers complimentary fruit and sweets.
  31. 3:43The fold-out sofa, however, seems a bit overlooked. Perhaps it could be moved and folded out,
  32. 3:48but it would be right next to the bed and block the access to the balcony.
  33. 3:53The water in the room and in all the bars is bottled Dasani—we buy the same for home, it's a good brand.
  34. 3:58Tea, coffee, and sugar are standard. There are some issues with the minibar, though...
  35. 4:02First, the closet door opens one way, and the refrigerator door the other.
  36. 4:07Second, there's a temperature issue in the refrigerator; it barely works.
  37. 4:10We mentioned this to the staff, but they shrugged, like, that's normal... well, no, not normal...
  38. 4:15okay, the sodas are warm... but milk...
  39. 4:17and we also had gifts from viewers from Belarus—the guys brought us cheese, sausage, and chocolate bars...
  40. 4:22Thanks to Yulia for the goodies! We had to eat them quickly so they wouldn't spoil.
  41. 4:26I think the builders were tasked with cramming as many amenities as possible into a limited space,
  42. 4:32which is why there were such "miscalculations" with the sofa and minibar, given that the rooms are only 28 square meters.
  43. 4:39The closet contains an extra pillow, a safe, and a shoe shine kit. Slippers are provided, but no robes.
  44. 4:51If you need bathroom scales, here you go... There's
  45. 5:02a full-length mirror in the hallway.
  46. 5:08Cosmetics are in dispensers, there's a shower cap, cotton pads, and cotton swabs.
  47. 5:22The shower stall has a shelf for cosmetics and a grab bar, which isn't available in all Egyptian hotels.
  48. 5:30The downside is there's no shower head with a hose. So, you can either wash your feet or your head.
  49. 5:35Adults will manage somehow, but with children... it's a bit of a bummer.
  50. 5:40This view from the balcony is considered Garden View, although I'd say it's Back View, but oh well.
  51. 5:46The advantage is that it's the quietest part of the hotel. If that's important, ask for ODD rooms in Building "A" (e.g. 6121).
  52. 5:55EVEN rooms (such as 6122) in the same building will overlook the hotel's courtyard, the pool, and the neighboring Building "B".
  53. 6:08There are 3 residential buildings in the hotel: "A" - where we lived, "B" (the building in the center) and "C"
  54. 6:15This is Building "C". As you can see, it's not yet occupied; renovations are ongoing.
  55. 6:19This means it's the noisiest part of the hotel; they might be drilling, hammering, etc.
  56. 6:23And this is Building "B". EVEN rooms (for example, 7034) will face Building "C", where construction is ongoing,
  57. 6:31while ODD rooms (for example, 7033) will face Building "A".
  58. 6:35I'll explain the room numbers (building, floor, and view) in the video description
  59. 6:39so you can immediately see when checking in whether the room you're offered is right for you or if you need to request a different one.
  60. 6:46The Xanadu Club grounds are relatively small compared to its neighboring giants, Jaz Makadi and Xanadu Makadi,
  61. 6:51but the pool is huge and the beach stretches quite long, with sun loungers always available.
  62. 6:58We liked the beach; I wouldn't call it one of the best in Hurghada, but I have no complaints either.
  63. 7:04The entrance is gently sloping and sandy, there are no significant low tides, and there's plenty of room for children and plenty of room for adults to swim.
  64. 7:10The umbrellas, both by the pool and by the sea, are the best you'll find in Egypt.
  65. 7:15Unfortunately, even new, expensive hotels are increasingly using cloth ones, which don't really protect you from the sun, but these are fantastic!
  66. 7:42There are quite a few ships at the piers to the right and left, but we haven't noticed any trash or odor from them.
  67. 7:53A separate section of the beach is reserved for adults only, and for some reason, that section has swings.
  68. 8:05If you walk along the pier between Xanadu and Jaz, there are small reefs where you can snorkel.
  69. 8:25I really liked the beach restaurant; it doesn't just offer fast food like pizza and burgers,
  70. 8:30but also a full menu with hot dishes, soup, salads, fruit, and desserts.
  71. 8:38Besides the standard napkins, they also offer wet ones, something we've only seen in high-end Turkish hotels, never in Egypt.
  72. 8:52The salads and fruit are portioned and stored in refrigerators protected from sand dust, which is fantastic!
  73. 9:00You can bring cans of beer from the bar to the beach, or order one; the waiters will bring it for you.
  74. 9:06In the evenings, the same beach restaurant serves a la carte Turkish cuisine—salads, soups,
  75. 9:10various grilled kebabs, and desserts...
  76. 9:16like this baklava with ice cream.
  77. 9:19Continuing with the food theme, we'll show you the main restaurant.
  78. 9:22We haven't been to the Turkish Xanadu, but we've stayed at other similar hotels:
  79. 9:26Voyage Belek and Maxx Royal, and the picture of the food islands reminded us of those hotels.
  80. 9:30The children's corner has a slightly better selection than usual in Egypt, but still not as varied as in Turkey.
  81. 9:37This is the lunch option—fresh vegetables, pasta, cheese sticks and nuggets, vegetable purees, chicken soup with egg noodles, sweets, and fast food.
  82. 9:46Bulgur, couscous, and other grains can be found on the common table; buckwheat is completely absent, although buckwheat is available in Turkey.
  83. 10:17Seafood options include mussels, crab, or squid—in other words, the usual fare. There's always something to eat, but it's not overwhelming.
  84. 10:25The soups are delicious and rich; I liked them.
  85. 10:39There's a roll section, not with carrots and cucumbers like at Albatross, for example, but not like in restaurants either,
  86. 10:44so honestly, it's an economy option. For comparison, look at the rolls we ate at Jaz Elite Asteria.
  87. 10:52The food selection has some similarities with Turkish hotels and differences from Egyptian ones,
  88. 10:57for example, a large selection of cheeses and olives (specifically Turkish ones; they're either hard to find or unavailable in Egypt),
  89. 11:03as well as stuffed rolls like dolma, but with more varieties, gozleme flatbread instead of the usual fetir,
  90. 11:09menemen omelets and poached eggs, honeycomb with honey, and butter spreads with additives.
  91. 11:17Otherwise, it's typical Egyptian food of good quality, but nothing more...
  92. 11:34I was really pleased with the lime cutting; finally, someone heard me.
  93. 11:38We even have a funny video about it on our channel.
  94. 11:41Because in Egypt, limes are stubbornly chopped straight down the center, right where all the seeds are.
  95. 11:45And in more expensive restaurants, they even wrap them in gauze, meaning they really bother protecting them from the seeds instead of cutting them differently.
  96. 12:20Ice cream is available both in the restaurant and in the kids' club, we'll show you later.
  97. 12:54This is the kids' corner for breakfast. And then there's the menemen and poached egg I mentioned earlier...
  98. 13:10Capers, gherkins, several types of smoked fish, and salmon only on sandwiches, not a special mention.
  99. 13:15The gozleme wasn't impressive; it's tastier in Turkey, and here they'd rather have fetir; after all, the chefs are Egyptian, not Turkish.
  100. 13:30Freshly squeezed juices—orange, strawberry, and mango—are available for breakfast, as are the bars throughout the day.
  101. 13:38Let's check out the water park and children's entertainment.
  102. 13:42The slides in the water park are old, maybe they were partially updated, but it’s still the same as what was in Tia Heights,
  103. 13:46You can find old photos of the hotel and see for yourself.
  104. 13:54It's not clear at all what those buildings are visible behind the water park; it's probably a staff house where the employees live.
  105. 13:59Opposite the water park, a trampoline area and a rope course are being built or renovated; they're currently closed to the public...
  106. 14:07There are also some still-packed slot machines there.
  107. 14:18And finally, I'm often asked if the hotel has a discotheque. The Xanadu Club does, and it's popular.
  108. 14:45All other amenities are located on the Xanadu Makadi grounds,
  109. 14:49including an amphitheater with evening shows,
  110. 14:52a kids' club (huge by Egyptian standards) and playgrounds,
  111. 14:55gyms, foot bowling, animation activities, and more.
  112. 14:59We'll show you what's included in the price for Xanadu Club guests in a separate video soon. Subscribe to stay up to date.
  113. 15:06If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments. I'll be sure to answer them.
