3. 0:04outside a Manhattan nightclub he was
4. 0:06convicted though sent to prison
5. 0:08exonerated then released after nearly 20
6. 0:10years when a judge found misconduct in
7. 0:12his case this wrongful conviction was
8. 0:15predicated upon perjury was predicated
9. 0:18upon
10. 0:19manipulation was was predicated upon
11. 0:22coercion and deceit of New York City
12. 0:24District Attorney's office and New York
13. 0:26City Police Department as early as 1992
14. 0:29evidence surf
15. 0:31that there was another person
16. 0:33responsible for this crime now Fernando
17. 0:35Bermudez is suing the city of New York
18. 0:36he's accusing the Manhattan District
19. 0:38Attorney's office and NYPD of willful
20. 0:40and intentional misconduct that wound up
21. 0:42sending him to prison for a murder he
22. 0:44did not commit during those same 18
23. 0:47years the New York County District
24. 0:49Attorney's Office disregarded ignored
25. 0:52clear and convincing evidence of his
26. 0:54innocence I don't have time to be bitter
27. 0:56um I have um I'm a a religious person
28. 0:59who um loves life and um I don't have I
29. 1:02have to raise my children and you can't
30. 1:04raise children properly when you're
31. 1:05bitter what kept me going was
32. 1:07essentially the fact that I knew I was
33. 1:09innocent and that I had to stay strong
34. 1:11what happened to me should not happen to
35. 1:13anyone Bermuda says his wife and
36. 1:14children who were at today's news
37. 1:16conference were another source of Hope
38. 1:18inspiration and encouragement Bermuda
39. 1:20says he wasn't sure he'd make it out
40. 1:22alive to see them again as of late
