- 0:00Today I will explain the Warcraft
- 0:02universe to you, and we will start with
- 0:04a question.
- 0:06Is a prince who slaughters his own city
- 0:08to save his people a hero or a monster?
- 0:11The answer to this question lies in
- 0:12Arthas's story. But first, we need to
- 0:14understand a few things. Why did the
- 0:16Orcs leave their own world and invade
- 0:19Azeroth?
- 0:20Where does the hatred between the Horde
- 0:22and the Alliance come from?
- 0:24And why did a Titan, meant to protect
- 0:27worlds, decide to destroy all life? I am
- 0:29Deniz Inquisitor Kelvur.
- 0:32In the next 20 minutes, I will explain
- 0:34how these catastrophes are connected and
- 0:36how Azeroth, which has captivated
- 0:38millions, became what it is today.
- 0:41Especially now that World of Warcraft:
- 0:43Forever is just around the corner. And
- 0:45as I begin the video, I give you my word
- 0:47. By the end of this video, when you
- 0:49jump into Forever, you will not only
- 0:51know which side to fight for, but also
- 0:54why that side is fighting, who they hate
- 0:56and why, and the price this enmity has
- 0:58brought. So, let's open the Azeroth file
- 1:01. Before we begin our story, we need to
- 1:03understand what kind of place the
- 1:04Warcraft universe is.
- 1:06Because the wars we see here are not
- 1:08just about the struggle of kings and
- 1:10armies.
- 1:12Behind these events lie cosmic forces
- 1:14far older than the existence of mortal
- 1:17races.
- 1:18At the forefront of these are the Titans
- 1:20. The Titans are beings of unfathomable
- 1:22power who try to order the worlds in the
- 1:25universe. However, there is an important
- 1:27feature that separates Azeroth from
- 1:29other planets and worlds. Deep within
- 1:32the planet lies a world-soul that has
- 1:35not yet awakened.
- 1:37The potential this soul carries makes
- 1:40Azeroth a highly valuable target among
- 1:42cosmic forces.
- 1:44Yet, before the Titans intervened in
- 1:47this world, other masters ruled over
- 1:50Azeroth.
- 1:51The Ancient Gods, the Old Gods, sent by
- 1:55the cosmic darkness called the Void,
- 1:58were trying to corrupt the world-soul
- 2:01within by taking over Azeroth.
- 2:04Names like C'Thun, Yogg-Saron, N'Zoth,
- 2:06and Y'Shaarj are terrifying beings that
- 2:09even today's Warcraft players know very
- 2:11well.
- 2:13The Black Empire established by the Old
- 2:16Gods ruled over the early periods of
- 2:18Azeroth.
- 2:20We are not talking about ordinary
- 2:21political dominance here.
- 2:23These creatures could influence the
- 2:25minds and wills of their servants.
- 2:28They could use them in line with their
- 2:30own goals. With the Titans '
- 2:32intervention in Azeroth, this empire was
- 2:34destroyed. However, the Titans soon
- 2:36faced a significant problem.
- 2:40The Old Gods had taken root so deep
- 2:42within the planet that eliminating them
- 2:45could harm Azeroth itself.
- 2:48Indeed, when the Titan Aman'Thul ripped
- 2:50one from the planet, he realized how
- 2:52dangerous this was.
- 2:55Thereupon, it was decided that the other
- 2:57Old Gods should be imprisoned rather
- 2:59than destroyed.
- 3:01The Titans left behind the keepers they
- 3:03had created to watch over the world and
- 3:05departed from Azeroth.
- 3:07Thus, a new era had begun on the planet
- 3:09. However, there is a detail I want to
- 3:12draw your attention to here. The Old
- 3:14Gods had been defeated, but they could
- 3:16not be completely eradicated.
- 3:18Therefore, it was not unlikely that
- 3:20someone would fall under their influence
- 3:22in the future, serve their ambitions,
- 3:24and perhaps even open their prisons.
- 3:26This is important.
- 3:28Because as we will see in a moment,
- 3:29while the peoples of Azeroth fight among
- 3:31themselves, this threat will continue to
- 3:33maintain its presence in the depths of
- 3:34the world.
- 3:36But the source of the first great war
- 3:38that brought Azeroth to the brink of
- 3:40destruction would not be the Old Gods.
- 3:43Another power that could overshadow even
- 3:45them had already begun to move. Long
- 3:48ages passed, and new civilizations
- 3:50emerged on Azeroth.
- 3:52While the Trolls were establishing vast
- 3:55kingdoms and empires, an ancient branch
- 3:57of theirs evolved into a different
- 3:59people due to the influence of a massive
- 4:01source called the Well of Eternity. The
- 4:04Night Elves. In time, these elves became
- 4:07highly advanced in the art of magic.
- 4:09They built magnificent cities. They
- 4:12ruled over vast lands and established
- 4:14one of the most powerful civilizations
- 4:16on Azeroth.
- 4:17At the head of their empire was a queen
- 4:20named Azshara.
- 4:21Now, it wouldn't be quite right to
- 4:23describe Azshara merely as an arrogant
- 4:24ruler.
- 4:26She was an extremely gifted sorceress
- 4:28and held immense influence over her
- 4:30people. However, her obsession with her
- 4:33own power eventually began to overshadow
- 4:36the interests of her empire. Azshara
- 4:39believed she could attain greater power
- 4:41, and it was during this very search
- 4:43that she caught the attention of
- 4:45Sargeras.
- 4:46Sargeras was once one of the most
- 4:48powerful warriors of the Titans.
- 4:51However, he later turned his back on his
- 4:54own kind and became the lord of a
- 4:56massive demon army called the Burning
- 4:59Legion.
- 5:00But why?
- 5:01Why would a being tasked with protecting
- 5:03worlds—as I briefly touched upon earlier
- 5:05—decide to destroy them?
- 5:08What did Sargeras see that the other
- 5:10Titans refused to accept?
- 5:12We will come to this later in the video
- 5:14when we examine the true purpose of the
- 5:17Burning Legion.
- 5:18Because understanding Sargeras's
- 5:20reasoning will allow us to understand
- 5:22why another character in Warcraft
- 5:24history was led to catastrophe.
- 5:27But we have a long way to go before we
- 5:28reach that point. For now, let us return
- 5:30to Azshara. Sargeras promised the queen
- 5:32a truly glorious future.
- 5:35Azshara, in return, set out to open a
- 5:37gateway that would allow the Burning
- 5:39Legion to reach Azeroth using the great
- 5:42power of her own empire, and as you can
- 5:44guess, the end was catastrophic.
- 5:46Approximately 10,000 years ago, the War
- 5:50of the Ancients began.
- 5:52As the demons of the Burning Legion
- 5:54swarmed into Azeroth, elf cities were
- 5:56destroyed, forests burned, and Azshara's
- 5:58great empire collapsed due to the
- 6:00reckless decisions of its greedy ruler.
- 6:03However, not all Night Elves supported
- 6:05the queen.
- 6:06Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind
- 6:09, and Malfurion’s twin brother, Illidan
- 6:11, were among the key figures in the
- 6:13fight against the invasion.
- 6:15After long and devastating conflicts,
- 6:17the gateway to the Burning Legion was
- 6:19closed.
- 6:20But the collapse of the Well of Eternity
- 6:22triggered a massive cataclysm that
- 6:24changed the geography of Azeroth
- 6:26entirely. The world, which until then
- 6:29consisted largely of a single landmass,
- 6:31was shattered. The continents were torn
- 6:34apart, and a massive ocean formed
- 6:36between them. This event went down in
- 6:38the history of Azeroth as the Sundering
- 6:42.
- 6:43Just think: a queen's desire for more
- 6:45power had changed not only her own
- 6:47empire but the very surface of the
- 6:49planet she lived on.
- 6:52Azeroth had been saved, but it was no
- 6:54longer a single world as it once was.
- 6:57While some of the surviving elves turned
- 6:59to living in harmony with nature, other
- 7:02groups who continued the tradition of
- 7:04magic eventually formed the people known
- 7:06as High Elves.
- 7:07This people would later establish the
- 7:09kingdom of Quel'Thalas in the east.
- 7:11Meanwhile, humans also developed. From
- 7:13the legacy of Arathor, new kingdoms such
- 7:16as Lordaeron and Stormwind began to rise
- 7:19. Azeroth had begun to become civilized
- 7:21once again. But this time, the source of
- 7:23the impending catastrophe was another
- 7:25planet. And interestingly, the
- 7:27inhabitants of that planet were also
- 7:30victims in their own story. Beyond
- 7:32Azeroth, at one end of the cosmos, there
- 7:35was another world called Draenor. A
- 7:38people known as Orcs lived there in
- 7:40clans. They placed great importance on
- 7:42the spirits of their ancestors and the
- 7:44elements of nature. They were different
- 7:46from the massive, green-skinned warriors
- 7:48many of us think of today when we hear "
- 7:50Warcraft."
- 7:51The natural skin colors of the orcs were
- 7:53actually mostly brown or reddish-brown,
- 7:55and their society was built as much on
- 7:57shamanism as on warrior traditions.
- 8:00Of course, the orcs were not a peaceful
- 8:02, flower-loving, harmless people.
- 8:05Clan conflicts, blood feuds, and
- 8:07territorial disputes were constant.
- 8:10However, this did not automatically make
- 8:12them an army of conquest in the service
- 8:14of demons. Yet, their wild nature was
- 8:16all too suitable for it. There was
- 8:19another people living with them on
- 8:21Draenor. The Draenei. Initially, there
- 8:24was no world-spanning war between these
- 8:26two peoples. But Kil'jaeden, one of the
- 8:28Burning Legion's most powerful
- 8:30commanders, wanted to destroy the
- 8:32Draenei and decided to use the orcs for
- 8:35this. We need to focus on the method
- 8:37Kil'jaeden followed today.
- 8:39Because he did not go directly to the
- 8:40orcs and order them to serve him.
- 8:43Instead, he used their beliefs and fears
- 8:45to ensure they were corrupted from
- 8:47within. His first target was the
- 8:50respected orc shaman Ner'zhul.
- 8:52Ner'zhul actually thought he was
- 8:54communicating with the spirits of his
- 8:56ancestors. However, the messages
- 8:58conveyed to him were being manipulated
- 9:00by Kil'jaeden.
- 9:01Thus, Ner'zhul was convinced that the
- 9:03Draenei posed a great danger to the orcs
- 9:05, and in this way, he ensured the clans
- 9:07united against these people.
- 9:10However, after a while, Ner'zhul began
- 9:12to suspect he was being deceived. But it
- 9:14was already too late. Because his
- 9:16apprentice, Gul'dan, unlike his master,
- 9:18felt no discomfort with the demons'
- 9:20offers and had openly accepted them. For
- 9:23Gul'dan, what mattered was not the
- 9:25future of the orcs, but attaining
- 9:27greater power, solidifying his own
- 9:29position, and exerting as much influence
- 9:31as possible. Kil'jaeden taught him the
- 9:34secrets of demonic magic.
- 9:37Gul'dan began to rule the clans from
- 9:38behind the scenes through the Shadow
- 9:40Council.
- 9:42Now, the traditional shamans of the orcs
- 9:44were gradually losing their influence.
- 9:46They were being replaced by dark
- 9:48sorcerers who used fel magic. The goal
- 9:51of the war had also been set. The total
- 9:53annihilation of the Draenei people.
- 9:55What should be noted here is that the
- 9:57orcs were not merely attacked by an
- 10:00outside enemy.
- 10:02Leaders who emerged from within their
- 10:04own society had actually put them into
- 10:06the service of another power by using
- 10:08their people's beliefs for their own
- 10:10interests.
- 10:11And Gul'dan took a highly dangerous step
- 10:13to complete this transformation. He
- 10:15offered the orcs the blood of a powerful
- 10:18demon named Mannoroth.
- 10:20Warriors who drank this blood would gain
- 10:22immense power.
- 10:23Their physical strength would increase,
- 10:25their battle rage would be enhanced, and
- 10:27they would be able to defeat their
- 10:29enemies much more easily. Sounds
- 10:31tempting, doesn't it? However, what was
- 10:33given in return for the deal was not
- 10:35clearly explained. Because the blood of
- 10:37Mannoroth did not just provide power.
- 10:39It brought the orcs under the influence
- 10:42of demons, turning them into puppets
- 10:43serving the goals of the Burning Legion
- 10:46.
- 10:46We can compare this to a deal.
- 10:48You are given immense resources and
- 10:50weapons to win the war you are currently
- 10:53in. It seems as if only your loyalty is
- 10:55requested in return. But the true
- 10:57collateral of the deal is your will,
- 10:59your future, and the fate of generations
- 11:02to come; it is like a kind of
- 11:04hostage-taking that comes with a
- 11:06terrible, heavy price. This was exactly
- 11:08what Gul'dan offered to the orcish
- 11:10people.
- 11:11Power of indescribable magnitude, but
- 11:13under someone else's control. Grom
- 11:15Hellscream was also among those who
- 11:17drank the blood first. Then, many clans
- 11:20followed this path.
- 11:21Demonic corruption spread, and through
- 11:23the influence of Fel magic, the orcs '
- 11:25green skin became a symbol of their
- 11:27transformation.
- 11:29Thus, the great fighting force known as
- 11:32the Horde was turned into an army for
- 11:34the Burning Legion to command. However,
- 11:36not all orcs participated in this
- 11:38process willingly. Figures such as
- 11:40Durotan and Orgrim Doomhammer rejected
- 11:43the demon blood. They wanted to preserve
- 11:45their people's warrior traditions. Yes.
- 11:47But they could never accept becoming
- 11:50slaves to a foreign power. Unfortunately
- 11:53, this resistance was not enough to
- 11:55prevent the catastrophe on Draenor. The
- 11:56orcs inflicted terrible destruction upon
- 11:58the draenei people. Under the influence
- 12:00of demonic magic, Draenor’s lands also
- 12:02became increasingly barren. The planet
- 12:05was slowly dying. At this point, the
- 12:08Horde faced a new problem.
- 12:10They had ruined their own world and now
- 12:12needed to find another place to live.
- 12:15That is where Azeroth came into play.
- 12:18Medivh, one of Azeroth's most powerful
- 12:20mages, was under the influence of
- 12:22Sargeras at the time. Through the
- 12:24magical connection he established with
- 12:26Gul'dan, a massive portal was opened
- 12:27between the two worlds. This infamous
- 12:29gateway is called the Dark Portal. The
- 12:31Dark Portal. Orc armies passed through
- 12:34this portal into Azeroth, and the first
- 12:36major war with the human kingdoms began
- 12:38. I want to avoid a misunderstanding
- 12:39here.
- 12:40The fact that the orcs were manipulated
- 12:42in the past does not erase the crimes
- 12:44they committed on Azeroth.
- 12:46We cannot dismiss the fate of the
- 12:48draenei or the devastation suffered by
- 12:50humans by citing the orcs' own tragedy.
- 12:53However, if you only look at things from
- 12:55the human perspective, the orcs appear
- 12:58as unprovoked, barbaric invaders.
- 13:00And if you only look from the orc
- 13:02perspective, you see a people trying to
- 13:05survive elsewhere while their own world
- 13:07dies. The truth actually lies in the
- 13:09middle of these two narratives. This is
- 13:11why we need to understand this
- 13:13distinction to grasp the roots of the
- 13:15enmity between the Horde and the
- 13:16Alliance. Because in the years to come,
- 13:18both sides will remember their own
- 13:20suffering. But they will often ignore
- 13:22why the other side is fighting, and we
- 13:25will see the consequences of this very
- 13:27soon. When the orcs entered Azeroth,
- 13:30they encountered the Kingdom of
- 13:31Stormwind. For the humans, the situation
- 13:33was quite clear.
- 13:36A vast army of creatures they had never
- 13:37seen before was invading their lands,
- 13:39burning their settlements, and trying to
- 13:41destroy their kingdom.
- 13:44Stormwind armies resisted under the
- 13:45leadership of commanders like Anduin
- 13:47Lothar. But against the power of the
- 13:49Horde and the dark magic behind it, the
- 13:52war became increasingly bleak and
- 13:54desperate. At the end of this bloody war
- 13:57, King Llane Wrynn was assassinated and
- 13:59Stormwind fell. The surviving humans
- 14:02fled to the northern kingdom of
- 14:03Lordaeron under the leadership of Anduin
- 14:06Lothar. Thus, the First War ended in
- 14:08victory for the Horde. But this victory
- 14:10did not bring lasting peace for the orcs
- 14:12. Because the Horde had transformed into
- 14:14a system built on war and conquest. Now
- 14:16, following the fall of Stormwind, they
- 14:19had to turn toward new targets. Orc
- 14:21armies led by Orgrim Doomhammer began to
- 14:24advance north this time.
- 14:26The human kingdoms, however, had learned
- 14:28the necessary lessons from what happened
- 14:30to Stormwind. They realized that if they
- 14:32continued to fight separately, their
- 14:34turn would be next. Therefore, a new
- 14:37alliance was formed under the leadership
- 14:39of King Terenas of Lordaeron. The
- 14:41Alliance. Along with the humans, dwarves
- 14:43, high elves, and other allies joined in
- 14:45.
- 14:46Thus, the first major conflicts between
- 14:48the Horde and the Alliance spread across
- 14:49the entire continent during the Second
- 14:51War.
- 14:52The war was extremely destructive.
- 14:54Destruction reached the very gates of
- 14:55Lordaeron. Great battles took place at
- 14:57sea, and both sides suffered heavy
- 14:59losses.
- 15:00Anduin Lothar lost his life during the
- 15:03war around Blackrock Spire.
- 15:05However, his death did not lead to the
- 15:07collapse of the Alliance. Forces under
- 15:09Turalyon's command launched a
- 15:10counterattack, and eventually, the Horde
- 15:12was defeated. Orgrim Doomhammer was
- 15:14taken prisoner. The majority of the
- 15:16captured orcs were locked away in
- 15:18internment camps. Meanwhile, experiments
- 15:20with magical portals on Draenor had
- 15:22resulted in catastrophe.
- 15:23The planet had begun to tear apart.
- 15:26We would later come to know the
- 15:27remaining ruins as Outland. Now, let's
- 15:30assess the status of both sides. The
- 15:32Alliance had won a great victory, albeit
- 15:35at a heavy price. Humans had stopped an
- 15:37army invading their world and preserved
- 15:40the existence of their kingdoms. Orcs,
- 15:42on the other hand, had lost both their
- 15:44old homeland and their freedom. Moreover
- 15:46, new generations were now condemned to
- 15:48live with the consequences of the crimes
- 15:50committed by their predecessors. Thrall
- 15:52, the son of Durotan, grew up under
- 15:54these very conditions. Raised in human
- 15:57captivity, Thrall eventually managed to
- 15:59escape and set out to reunite the orc
- 16:02clans.
- 16:03However, his goal was not to bring back
- 16:04the old Horde that Gul'dan had created.
- 16:07Thrall wanted to free his people from
- 16:09the influence of demons and secure a
- 16:11homeland for them once again. We should
- 16:13not underestimate the importance of
- 16:15Thrall here.
- 16:17Because under his leadership, the orcs
- 16:19would move beyond being just a military
- 16:21force and attempt to rebuild their own
- 16:22society and future.
- 16:24Yet, at this time, something much more
- 16:26terrifying was about to befall the human
- 16:29kingdoms. Moreover, this time their
- 16:31enemies would not be invaders from
- 16:33another world. Initially, it would be
- 16:35their own dead. If you have enjoyed the
- 16:38video so far, if you like losing
- 16:40yourself in the lore of fantastic

- 17:06The membership link is in the bottom
- 17:08corner. Now let's come to one of the
- 17:10most important characters in Warcraft
- 17:12history. Arthas Menethil was the son of
- 17:15King Terenas of Lordaeron and the heir
- 17:17to the throne. He was also a paladin who
- 17:19wielded the power of the Holy Light. He
- 17:21was a young, talented, and courageous
- 17:23warrior. He felt a strong sense of
- 17:25responsibility toward his people. It was
- 17:26believed that he would be a good king in
- 17:28the future. However, Arthas had a very
- 17:31serious flaw. He could not accept
- 17:34failure.
- 17:35Especially when it came to protecting
- 17:37his people, he began to see questioning
- 17:39the validity of his own decisions as a
- 17:41weakness.
- 17:42Right at this time, a terrible plague
- 17:45emerged in Lordaeron.
- 17:46This disease, called the Plague of Death
- 17:49, transformed humans into undead
- 17:51creatures known as zombies or ghouls
- 17:53after they died.
- 17:55The plague spread primarily through
- 17:57grain shipments and caused settlements
- 17:59to quickly join the army of the dead,
- 18:01which began to be called the Scourge.
- 18:04Behind this army stood the Lich King.
- 18:06The Lich King was actually created from
- 18:08the spirit of Ner'zhul, whom we
- 18:10previously met on Draenor.
- 18:12Imprisoned within the Frozen Throne in
- 18:14Northrend, this entity commanded his
- 18:16undead armies to be used in the Burning
- 18:18Legion's plans.
- 18:19While tracing the plague, Arthas arrived
- 18:22at the city of Stratholme. However, the
- 18:24sight he encountered there was truly
- 18:26horrific. The majority of the city's
- 18:28population had been infected and were
- 18:30expected to turn into undead creatures—
- 18:32the living dead—shortly. Arthas faced a
- 18:34difficult choice.
- 18:36To kill the people who hadn't
- 18:38transformed yet to stop the plague from
- 18:39spreading, or risk the disaster growing
- 18:41while looking for another solution.
- 18:44Arthas chose the first path. He ordered
- 18:46the city's people to be killed. His
- 18:48mentor Uther rejected this order. Jaina
- 18:51Proudmoore did not stand by Arthas's
- 18:52side either. But the prince did not
- 18:54waver from his decision and began the
- 18:56purging of Stratholme. We could argue at
- 18:58length about the moral aspect of the
- 19:00decision made here. Arthas might truly
- 19:03believe he had no other option. However
- 19:05, the issue is not just the decision
- 19:08itself, but how this decision changed
- 19:10Arthas.
- 19:11Because from that moment on, the prince
- 19:13began to use the righteousness of his
- 19:15goal as a justification to stop
- 19:16questioning his own actions.
- 19:18He had put to the sword the people he
- 19:21swore to save in Stratholme, and there
- 19:23was no turning back now.
- 19:25Following Mal'Ganis, who was behind the
- 19:27plague, Arthas went to Northrend.
- 19:29There, he found a sword with
- 19:30extraordinary powers called Frostmourne
- 19:32.
- 19:32There were warnings that the sword was
- 19:35cursed. However, Arthas did not heed any
- 19:37of them. For Arthas, what mattered was
- 19:39obtaining the power that would allow him
- 19:41to defeat his enemy. Everything else was
- 19:43trivial. Arthas took Frostmourne and
- 19:45succeeded in defeating Mal'Ganis with it
- 19:47. However, the price of this victory was
- 19:49much heavier than he expected.
- 19:52We will see what Frostmourne took from
- 19:54Arthas and how the story of this sword
- 19:56concludes two episodes later when we
- 19:58reach The Frozen Throne.
- 20:00For now, let's return to Lordaeron. When
- 20:02Arthas arrived in his homeland, the
- 20:03people welcomed him as a hero. But the
- 20:05prince who entered the palace was no
- 20:07longer the person who had left it. He
- 20:09appeared before King Terenas and killed
- 20:11his father with his own hands. After
- 20:13this, the fall of Lordaeron accelerated
- 20:15. In the service of the Scourge, Arthas
- 20:17turned his old kingdom into ruins.
- 20:20He invaded Quel'Thalas, corrupted the
- 20:22Sunwell, and killed the elf commander
- 20:24Sylvanas Windrunner, turning her into a
- 20:26banshee stripped of her free will. With
- 20:29the resurrection of Kel'Thuzad, Arthas
- 20:31thus paved the way for the Burning
- 20:33Legion commander Archimonde to be
- 20:35summoned to Azeroth. In this way,
- 20:36Lordaeron was destroyed not by an
- 20:38outside army, but by the betrayal of its
- 20:40own prince. The man who was expected to
- 20:42save the kingdom turned into its
- 20:44executioner. But the fall of Arthas was
- 20:46only the beginning of a larger war.
- 20:49Because the Burning Legion had returned
- 20:51to Azeroth.
- 20:52The Burning Legion's renewed attack on
- 20:54Azeroth forced the peoples who had long
- 20:56been at war with each other to face a
- 20:58very disturbing reality.
- 21:00They might have hated each other. But it
- 21:02was impossible for them to survive alone
- 21:04against the demon armies. Meanwhile,
- 21:06Thrall had led the orcs to Kalimdor in
- 21:08search of a new homeland and a fresh
- 21:10start. There, he found important allies
- 21:13for himself, such as Tauren leader
- 21:14Cairne Bloodhoof and Darkspear troll
- 21:16leader Vol'jin. Jaina Proudmoore also
- 21:18reached the same continent with the
- 21:20humans she saved from the destruction of
- 21:21Lordaeron.
- 21:23Therefore, the humans and orcs, who had
- 21:25fought against each other in the past,
- 21:27now had to cooperate against a common
- 21:29enemy.
- 21:30However, the old curse of the orcs had
- 21:32not yet left them behind.
- 21:34Grom Hellscream fell under the influence
- 21:35of demon blood once again.
- 21:38Together with his warriors, he killed
- 21:39the Night Elves 'sacred protector
- 21:40Cenarius, and thus it was revealed that
- 21:42the Burning Legion could control the
- 21:44orcs again.
- 21:45Thrall and Jaina managed to save Grom
- 21:47from this corruption.
- 21:49Then, Grom came face to face with
- 21:50Mannoroth, who had offered the demon
- 21:52blood to the orcs.
- 21:53Grom's axe finally killed Mannoroth. But
- 21:56he also lost his own life in the
- 21:58conflict.
- 21:59Thus, he played a decisive role in
- 22:01breaking the orcs' old blood curse. I
- 22:04would like to draw your attention to the
- 22:05irony here. The power Gul'dan promised
- 22:08his people had enslaved the orcs. Grom,
- 22:10having fallen under the same curse twice
- 22:13, finally sacrificed his own life to
- 22:15help his people gain their freedom.
- 22:18However, the Burning Legion's true
- 22:19objective had not yet been eliminated.
- 22:21Archimonde was advancing toward Mount
- 22:24Hyjal. Here stood the massive world tree
- 22:27called Nordrassil, and Archimonde sought
- 22:29to reach its immense power. Now let's
- 22:32return to the question we left
- 22:33half-finished in the second part. Why
- 22:35did Sargeras betray the titans? While
- 22:38battling the demons that threatened the
- 22:40universe, Sargeras had learned how great
- 22:42a danger the Void truly was.
- 22:45Later, encountering a world-soul
- 22:47corrupted under the influence of the
- 22:49Void changed all his thinking.
- 22:51Because the awakening of this soul could
- 22:53have led to the emergence of a
- 22:55terrifying being on a cosmic scale.
- 22:57Sargeras found such a possibility
- 22:58unacceptable and destroyed the corrupted
- 23:01world-soul. However, the other titans
- 23:03did not approve of his decision.
- 23:04Sargeras, meanwhile, had reached a much
- 23:06more extreme conclusion. To him, as long
- 23:08as life in the universe continued,
- 23:10worlds that the Void could corrupt would
- 23:12also continue to exist.
- 23:13Therefore, the only way to definitively
- 23:15eliminate this threat was to destroy all
- 23:17life in the universe entirely.
- 23:20Think about it: we are talking about a
- 23:22physician who decides to kill all
- 23:24patients, and even those not yet sick,
- 23:26to prevent a disease from spreading.
- 23:28This was roughly Sargeras's solution,
- 23:30and now I will ask who this line of
- 23:31thought reminds you of. When Arthas was
- 23:33killing his own people in Stratholme, he
- 23:36was relying on a similar justification.
- 23:38He was ready to sacrifice the people he
- 23:40was obligated to protect in order to
- 23:42prevent a greater catastrophe.
- 23:44Of course, Sargeras's cosmic-scale plan
- 23:46and the situation Arthas faced were not
- 23:48the same. But they had one thing in
- 23:50common. Both of them believed so firmly
- 23:53in the righteousness of their decisions
- 23:55that they began to see the destruction
- 23:57these decisions would cause as
- 23:58acceptable. This is one of the elements
- 24:01that makes the Warcraft universe
- 24:02interesting.
- 24:03Characters being dragged into
- 24:05catastrophe does not always stem from
- 24:06their weakness or ill intent.
- 24:08Sometimes they are destroyed by an
- 24:10unshakable belief in their own
- 24:12righteousness. In other words, the end
- 24:14justifies the means. Anyway, let us
- 24:16return to Mount Hyjal.
- 24:18Night elves, humans, and orcs finally
- 24:20fought together against the Burning
- 24:21Legion.
- 24:23Thrall's forces, Jaina's humans, and the
- 24:25night elves of Malfurion and Tyrande
- 24:27suffered heavy losses to halt
- 24:29Archimonde's advance.
- 24:31Still, Archimonde reached the world tree
- 24:33. But the ancient nature spirits
- 24:35summoned by Malfurion destroyed the
- 24:37demon commander.
- 24:39This invasion by the Burning Legion
- 24:41ended in failure. However, the victory
- 24:43was not without a price. Nordrassil was
- 24:45heavily damaged, and the immortality of
- 24:47the night elves came to an end.
- 24:49Azeroth had survived another one of the
- 24:50greatest threats in its history.
- 24:53Moreover, it had achieved this thanks to
- 24:55the joint struggle of peoples who had
- 24:56tried to destroy each other in the past
- 24:58.
- 24:58But establishing a lasting peace between
- 25:00these same peoples was something
- 25:01entirely different. This is exactly the
- 25:03point we need to remember as we reach
- 25:05the world of WoW.
- 25:07WoW takes place after the events of The
- 25:09Frozen Throne and before Molten Core. So
- 25:11, we are returning to a period where the
- 25:13great catastrophe has been survived, but
- 25:15the new political order in Azeroth has
- 25:17not yet fully settled. But first, we
- 25:19need to look at the frozen throne in the
- 25:21north. Because Arthas's story is not
- 25:24over yet. Even though the Burning Legion
- 25:26had been defeated, the Scourge continued
- 25:28its existence. And the power of the Lich
- 25:30King in Northrend had begun to gradually
- 25:32weaken. One of the important
- 25:34consequences of this was that the undead
- 25:36, previously bound to the Lich King's
- 25:38will, regained their freedom. Among them
- 25:41was Sylvanas Windrunner. As you may
- 25:44recall, Sylvanas was killed by Arthas
- 25:46while defending Quel'Thalas and was
- 25:48later turned into a banshee. Now, she
- 25:50once again possessed her own will.
- 25:52However, she could no longer return to
- 25:54her former life. It is necessary to
- 25:55understand Sylvanas's situation well
- 25:57here. She was not just a warrior seeking
- 25:59revenge on Arthas, but a being who had
- 26:01regained her freedom after death yet
- 26:04could find no place for herself in the
- 26:06world of the living.
- 26:07Moreover, there were countless others in
- 26:09the same situation. Sylvanas had broken
- 26:12free from the Scourge's control. She
- 26:14managed to gather the undead around her
- 26:16. This people no longer wanted to be
- 26:18slaves to the Lich King. But living
- 26:20humans were not very willing to see them
- 26:22as part of their old society either.
- 26:25For this reason, this new people named
- 26:27themselves the Forsaken.
- 26:29Meaning the abandoned ones. Under the
- 26:31ruins of Lordaeron, they began to
- 26:33establish a new capital called the
- 26:34Undercity.
- 26:36Thus, a new political power ruled by
- 26:37those who had returned from death
- 26:39emerged in this land that was formerly a
- 26:41human kingdom.
- 26:42Now, we are facing an extremely
- 26:43interesting situation here. A portion of
- 26:46the people of Lordaeron had risen again
- 26:48after dying.
- 26:49Therefore, they had very strong reasons
- 26:51to claim rights over these lands.
- 26:54However, from the perspective of the
- 26:56living, a new state formed by the undead
- 26:58was being built on the ruins of their
- 27:00former kingdom. It is not easy to decide
- 27:02who is right. Warcraft 3 Reforged: The
- 27:05Forsaken Kingdom focuses on this very
- 27:07period. It tells how Sylvanas organized
- 27:10the Forsaken people under her leadership
- 27:12, the rise of the Undercity, and the new
- 27:14conflicts between the living and the
- 27:16dead. So, where was Arthas while all
- 27:18this was happening? He was returning to
- 27:20Northrend. Because Illidan Stormrage,
- 27:22under Kil'jaeden's orders, had tried to
- 27:24destroy the Frozen Throne. The Lich
- 27:26King's power was weakening, and Arthas
- 27:28had to answer his master's call. Arthas
- 27:31faced Illidan at Icecrown. It was Arthas
- 27:34who emerged victorious from this
- 27:35conflict. When he reached the Frozen
- 27:37Throne, the true price of Frostmourne
- 27:40became clear in all its clarity. When
- 27:42Arthas took the sword in his hand, he
- 27:44hadn't just gained a powerful weapon. He
- 27:46had surrendered his soul to the
- 27:48influence of the Lich King and had
- 27:50slowly become bound to his will.
- 27:52The power he used to defeat Mal'Ganis
- 27:54was actually part of a trap Ner'zhul had
- 27:56set to lure him in.
- 27:59Thus, Arthas finally shattered the
- 28:00Frozen Throne and placed the Lich King's
- 28:03crown and helm upon his head. In this
- 28:05way, he merged with Ner'zhul's power and
- 28:07became the new Lich King. There is a
- 28:09highly significant irony here regarding
- 28:12Arthas's story. The Prince had sought
- 28:14ever greater powers because he could not
- 28:15protect his people. However, every new
- 28:17power he gained distanced him even
- 28:19further from his original goal. When he
- 28:21finally obtained the power he desired,
- 28:23there were no people left to protect. In
- 28:25fact, he had become the greatest threat
- 28:28to the survivors of those people. Now
- 28:30let's return to the general state of
- 28:32Azeroth. Thrall founded Orgrimmar, the
- 28:34new capital of the orcs, in the Durotar
- 28:36region of Kalimdor. The Tauren and the
- 28:38Darkspear trolls also formed important
- 28:40parts of the new Horde. Sylvanas's
- 28:42Forsaken people joined the Horde to both
- 28:45survive and find allies against the
- 28:47Alliance. On the other side, Stormwind
- 28:50was regaining its power. The dwarves of
- 28:52Ironforge, gnomes, and night elves began
- 28:54to form the new order of the Alliance
- 28:56with the humans. Thus, the political
- 28:58landscape where World of Warcraft begins
- 29:00gradually emerged.
- 29:02On one side is the Horde, founded by
- 29:04orcs who once invaded Azeroth, now
- 29:06encompassing different peoples.
- 29:08On the other side is the Alliance,
- 29:10carrying the legacy of the old human
- 29:12kingdoms, where various races act
- 29:14together. However, there is an important
- 29:16detail here.
- 29:18Neither of these two great factions is
- 29:19entirely independent of what they did in
- 29:21the past or what they will do in the
- 29:23future.
- 29:24The Alliance sees itself as the power
- 29:25that protects the order and civilization
- 29:27of Azeroth. Yet, it was their ancestors
- 29:29who locked the orcs in internment camps
- 29:32in the past. The Horde, on the other
- 29:33hand, advocates for freedom and the
- 29:35survival of its peoples.
- 29:36But a significant part of their history
- 29:38has been corrupted by conquests,
- 29:40massacres, and demon blood.
- 29:43Moreover, the threats Azeroth faces are
- 29:45not limited only to the struggle between
- 29:47these two sides. The influence of the
- 29:49Old Gods has not completely vanished.
- 29:51The wounds opened by the Burning Legion
- 29:53are still fresh.
- 29:54The Lich King reigns in the North, and
- 29:56the world has not yet recovered from the
- 29:58consequences of past wars. This is the
- 30:01kind of world World of Warcraft Forever
- 30:03takes us into. According to Blizzard's
- 30:06statements, Forever takes place after
- 30:08the events of Warcraft 3 Reforged and
- 30:10the Forsaken Kingdom, but before Molten
- 30:13Core. It aims to offer us a different
- 30:15interpretation of the Azeroth we know
- 30:17with new and expanded zones, quests, and
- 30:19stories.
- 30:21Furthermore, options like the new elf
- 30:23race called the Skyborne and the
- 30:24Forsaken Paladin—which I approach with
- 30:26skepticism—will allow us to discover
- 30:28facets of this world we haven't seen
- 30:30much of before.
- 30:32But what really interests me is that
- 30:34Forever gives us the opportunity to
- 30:36delve into the untold stories of this
- 30:37era rather than just reliving an old
- 30:39adventure.
- 30:40Because at this point in Warcraft
- 30:42history, nothing is definitively
- 30:44resolved. The Horde is trying to forge
- 30:46its own identity. The Alliance is
- 30:48struggling to heal its old wounds and
- 30:50maintain its position in the world. The
- 30:52Forsaken are looking for a place for
- 30:53themselves between the living and the
- 30:55dead, and while all this is happening,
- 30:56the real major threats to Azeroth have
- 30:58not disappeared. Therefore, whichever
- 31:00side you choose in Forever, the world
- 31:03you encounter will be the product of a
- 31:05long and bloody past. Now, let's return
- 31:08to our initial question. Who is the real
- 31:10enemy of Azeroth? Sargeras? The Old Gods
- 31:13? The Lich King? Or the Horde and the
- 31:15Alliance, who can never seem to forgive
- 31:17each other's past? I don't think there
- 31:18is a single answer to this question.
- 31:20However, the events we examined share a
- 31:22common feature. Azshara put her own
- 31:25ambition ahead of the future of her
- 31:26empire. Gul'dan sold the freedom of his
- 31:29people for the sake of personal power.
- 31:31Sargeras decided to destroy all life in
- 31:33order to save the universe.
- 31:35Arthas turned his desire to protect his
- 31:37people into a justification for the
- 31:38horrific crimes he committed against
- 31:40them.
- 31:41The intentions of these characters were
- 31:42different from one another. But after a
- 31:44certain point, each of them began to
- 31:46accept their own goal as unquestionable
- 31:48, and that is where the conclusion I
- 31:51draw from this file lies. The most
- 31:53dangerous enemies of Azeroth are not
- 31:55those who know they are doing evil, but
- 31:57those who blindly believe there is a
- 31:59justified reason for everything they do
- 32:01. Now, the decision is yours. Which side
- 32:03will you start World of Warcraft Forever
- 32:05on? Will you stand with the Alliance, or
- 32:07will you fight in the ranks of the Horde
- 32:09?
- 32:09And more importantly, let's discuss the
- 32:11reason for your choice in the comments.
- 32:14And if you enjoyed this file, please
- 32:16don't forget to like the video and share
- 32:18it with friends who are new to the
- 32:19Warcraft universe or returning for the
- 32:21sake of the good old days.
- 32:23Infinite thanks to the inquisition
- 32:24members who support the channel. I am
- 32:26Deniz, Inquisitor Kelvur. Until we meet
- 32:29again in the next file.
