- 0:01this is the hidden Killers podcast with
- 0:04Tony brewski with former prosecutor and
- 0:06guest Lori Gilbertson Dennis Raider BTK
- 0:10back in the news and back with
- 0:13connections to several cold cases Carrie
- 0:17Ross and his daughter tweeting out just
- 0:18the other day that on the record they're
- 0:21looking at about five unsolved missing
- 0:23person cases marked possibly attributed
- 0:26to her dad's Dennis Rader the one that's
- 0:30being looked at very closely as of this
- 0:32moment and looks to be most likely
- 0:34involving Dennis's Cynthia Kinney she
- 0:36was a 16 year old cheerleader in
- 0:38Oklahoma who disappeared in 1976 nearly
- 0:4350 years ago now but Dennis has archives
- 0:46in some of his writings about bad
- 0:48laundry day and talking about watching a
- 0:52woman across the street at a laundromat
- 0:55and fantasizing about her there's
- 0:58probably several others that he has not
- 1:00yet admitted to where do you think this
- 1:03is going in considering Raider loves
- 1:06attention and he's been very vocal in
- 1:08the last half year or so since coburger
- 1:11came out is this round three of Dennis
- 1:14Rader are we going to be learning about
- 1:16far more murders than we ever thought
- 1:19possible
- 1:20well it's so textbook right like he
- 1:23doesn't want another serial killer
- 1:25getting more attention than he's getting
- 1:26yeah it yeah I think what we'll see you
- 1:30know is more investigation of these cold
- 1:32cases uh which is in my opinion
- 1:35fantastic yeah you know this is why
- 1:37there is no in a statute of limitations
- 1:39on murder there is no time limit by
- 1:42which these cases can be prosecuted
- 1:45solved and prosecuted even if he is
- 1:48doing all these life terms for
- 1:49everything else he's done there is still
- 1:52you know can be some justice out there
- 1:54for these victims and as a prosecutor
- 1:56and just as a human being I think that's
- 1:58a really beautiful thing and they are it
- 2:02is just chilling to hear in his own
- 2:06words
- 2:07how he was planning you know one of
- 2:10these projects as he called them and
- 2:12ever since I read about this bad laundry
- 2:15day has been in my head and that just is
- 2:18so chilling so it really is it's
- 2:22wonderful that his you know certainly
- 2:24that his daughter is cooperating and
- 2:25providing information it's great that
- 2:27the police departments are continuing to
- 2:30investigate these decades old cases uh
- 2:33and that there can be some justice and
- 2:35really just some closure on it whether
- 2:38he gets more time whether anything is
- 2:40ever tried at least some unanswered
- 2:43questions can be answered and there can
- 2:45be some sort of accountability and
- 2:47closure what I would hate to see is kind
- 2:50of what you mentioned you know here's
- 2:52this guy who now can be in the news
- 2:54again and he can kind of have some fun
- 2:57with this and get some publicity and
- 2:59reopen all those Old Wounds and I really
- 3:02hope there's some you know ways of that
- 3:05kind of coverage where he does not get
- 3:08to have his voice out there again in any
- 3:11other way besides the really
- 3:14confessional way that they are in these
- 3:16old journals well I know and that is
- 3:18what I hope they are they're they've
- 3:21thrown out immunity out there too and
- 3:22like just admit it if you did this and
- 3:25he's denying it he's sitting there
- 3:26saying no I did not do this despite the
- 3:29creepiness and in the beginning of games
- 3:32I would say uh of what he was playing
- 3:34with Sheriff Eddie Bearden who visited
- 3:36him before Eddie even got into talking
- 3:39about why he was visiting Dennis Raider
- 3:42Raider opened up about his fantasy of a
- 3:46laundromat and a girl and waiting until
- 3:48she was gone and he'd go in with a ruse
- 3:50and get her in his vehicle and then have
- 3:52his way and kill her and then he found
- 3:54out that they were looking into him for
- 3:56that exact same crime uh that doesn't
- 3:59seem to be I mean that seems to be far
- 4:02too much of a coincidence and a game
- 4:03that Dennis is playing than it is just
- 4:06by chance that he happens to have this
- 4:08fantasy and that's what they're looking
- 4:09into based on his writings it really
- 4:12does make you wonder
- 4:14even if he did do this and yes he has
- 4:17admitted to the past of other ones does
- 4:19he want to admit to this or is you know
- 4:22he's 78 years old he's starting to get
- 4:24into frailer conditions his mind
- 4:27apparently pretty good but his body's
- 4:29starting to not be in the greatest shape
- 4:31is this something he's going to ride out
- 4:33into a courtroom and have that
- 4:34experience because round one he was he
- 4:37admitted guilt to all of them at this
- 4:39time around it doesn't necessarily have
- 4:41to and it would certainly get him a lot
- 4:43of attention and get him out of that
- 4:45cell
- 4:46yeah wouldn't it and here we are talking
- 4:48about him exactly I know he is back in
- 4:51the news so yeah I mean you know we talk
- 4:54somewhat this whole time about just what
- 4:57is in the minds of people like co-worker
- 4:59or human or freighter here and it's
- 5:02tough to tell but there are some things
- 5:05that are pretty Universal and one of
- 5:08them is this kind of attention seeking
- 5:10and if this like you said this is gonna
- 5:11maybe get him some attention when things
- 5:13might be a little boring serving all
- 5:15those life terms and he can get a visit
- 5:17from a sheriff where he gets to recount
- 5:19these fantasies where he can maybe get
- 5:21some time in a court and get to hear
- 5:23about all of this you know that might be
- 5:25kind of interesting and a bit of a
- 5:28change of pace for the 78 year old so it
- 5:32it could be all games it really could be
- 5:34just because he admitted all these
- 5:36things before it doesn't necessarily
- 5:38mean he wants to now and I think we're
- 5:40gonna have to just wait and see you know
- 5:43with all of these five cases especially
- 5:45the one in the laundromat as as you've
- 5:46mentioned what kind of evidence comes
- 5:49out and what kind what other kind of
- 5:51ties there are from maybe anything
- 5:53forensically any other Witnesses
- 5:55possibly all of kind of the confessional
- 5:58writings and we'll see where the
- 5:59investigation goes with it you're
