Why Your Spray Control SUCKS (Fix it in 7 Days) — Transcript

- 0:00Does your spray control look like this?
- 0:04But you want it to look like this.
- 0:11In this video, I'm going to explain why
- 0:12you suck at it, what makes up great
- 0:14spray control, and how you can improve
- 0:16yours in just 7 days. Spray control is
- 0:19simple.
- 0:20It's controlling the recoil pattern of
- 0:22your weapon so all your bullets land
- 0:25exactly where you want them. And there
- 0:27are three ways to actually do this.
- 0:29Spray, holding mouse one continuously,
- 0:32and actually follow the recoil pattern.
- 0:34You can burst, controlling the first
- 0:36three to five bullets. Or you can tap,
- 0:38so that's single or double shots. And
- 0:40you may say they're just different
- 0:41shooting styles. Well, no. This all
- 0:44makes up spray control. Because here's
- 0:46the thing that separates pros from
- 0:48everyone else. It's not just controlling
- 0:50the spray, it's also when to choose each
- 0:53of those shooting methods. Everyone
- 0:55knows that the AK spray goes up, right,
- 0:58and then left. But knowing the pattern
- 1:00and actually training it are two
- 1:02completely different things. Mistake one
- 1:04is panic shooting. As soon as you see
- 1:06the enemy, you crouch, you hold mouse
- 1:08one, and you just hope your bullets
- 1:10land. You're not even thinking about
- 1:12your first bullet, you're just hoping
- 1:14and dumping your mag. As we like to call
- 1:16it, the old spray and pray. And this
- 1:18results in one kill if you're lucky.
- 1:20You're becoming an inconsistent player
- 1:22with this style. There's no system to
- 1:25it, it's just panic. And this mistake
- 1:27leads into mistake two, committing to a
- 1:30spray when you shouldn't. This isn't
- 1:32just about holding mouse one when you
- 1:33see someone, it's also about what
- 1:35happens mid-fight when a second enemy
- 1:37appears, and this is either a different
- 1:39distance or a different position on the
- 1:41screen. You commit further into the
- 1:43spray, holding mouse one, and you get
- 1:45lost in the middle of the spray pattern.
- 1:47This means not only are you having to
- 1:48track the new enemy, but you're also
- 1:50having to rely on your knowledge of the
- 1:52spray pattern. Knowing when to commit
- 1:54and when and how to reset are extremely
- 1:57important. And again, this leads into
- 1:59mistake three, spraying at distances you
- 2:02can't handle. And this is where we move
- 2:04on to those different shooting methods.
- 2:06Because if you're watching this, you
- 2:08haven't mastered spray control yet. You
- 2:11are struggling to hit even the mid to
- 2:12close range fights, let alone across the
- 2:15map. Yet, you're still spraying at long
- 2:17distances like you're donk. If that
- 2:19sounds familiar, well, here's the
- 2:21framework that actually fixes it. Now,
- 2:23fixing my spray wasn't going to happen
- 2:25in deathmatch sessions where I was maybe
- 2:27getting one or two real spray encounters
- 2:30or against bots where they were
- 2:31completely static. So, I went into
- 2:34refrag.gg.
- 2:36Refrag has dedicated spray control
- 2:38scenarios built specifically for this.
- 2:41So, instead of praying for reps in DM,
- 2:43you get hundreds of focused spray reps
- 2:46in the time you want. And this can be
- 2:48the difference between spraying like
- 2:49donk or a liege or spraying like your
- 2:52local choker nitro. And to help you with
- 2:54this, they've dropped a new feature
- 2:56called sessions which tracks your
- 2:58improvement across every training
- 3:00session. So, now you [music] can
- 3:01actually see if you're getting better
- 3:03without just guessing. Which, for a
- 3:05video literally about measuring
- 3:07improvement, is exactly what I needed.
- 3:09[music]
- 3:09If you want to try refrag for yourself,
- 3:11make sure you use code key and you'll
- 3:13get three free days. Link is in the
- 3:15description. So, here's three steps and
- 3:18rules to improving your spray control.
- 3:21Rule number one, you want to match the
- 3:23range to the shooting method. So, for
- 3:25this, if they're close, like so, you
- 3:28want to spray. If they are medium
- 3:30distance, like so, you want to burst.
- 3:32Then, if they are long range, like so,
- 3:34you want to tap.
- 3:37This is a really strong foundation to
- 3:39have when going into spray control. You
- 3:41should be allowing your range to
- 3:42determine your method. Rule number two
- 3:45is you want to master the first 10
- 3:47bullets of a spray. So, don't worry
- 3:49about spraying the the mag, focus on the
- 3:52first 10 bullets.
- 3:54That is the most important part of the
- 3:56spray. So,
- 3:58you want to make sure you have that
- 3:59spray locked in. Once you can control
- 4:02those first 10 bullets flawlessly, you
- 4:04can move on to the rest. However,
- 4:07if you don't master those first 10, and
- 4:10you aren't killing the opposition or the
- 4:12enemy,
- 4:14you should already be dead. And this
- 4:16merges nicely into rule three, which is
- 4:18something I am learning quite
- 4:20extensively right now. Always move
- 4:22between your bursts. Now, I'm saying
- 4:25this because if you just hold mouse one
- 4:27at a distance, you're uh hoping that
- 4:29your 30 bullets land. And it makes you a
- 4:32sitting duck for those shots. However,
- 4:35if you burst, stop, reposition, and
- 4:38burst again, not only are you hard to
- 4:40hit, but also you're more likely to hit
- 4:42your shots. And this is visualized as
- 4:45such. So, let's say a player who's all
- 4:46the way back there, you try and spray,
- 4:51that is an average of your bullets. You
- 4:53can try and get that closer,
- 4:56but it's still quite bad. Whereas if you
- 4:58burst,
- 5:04and move,
- 5:05not only are you a hard target to hit,
- 5:07but you're more likely to hit your
- 5:09target. Now we know the fundamentals of
- 5:11what spray control is, what bad spray
- 5:13control is, what the rules to good spray
- 5:16control are, let's talk about how to
- 5:19improve your own spray control, and how
- 5:21I'm going to spend the next 7 days
- 5:23training mine to show you how to improve
- 5:26yours. Day one was kind of the audit
- 5:28day. So, we took a look at what refrag
- 5:31routine is useful,
- 5:33and we made sure that we built a routine
- 5:35for the week that I felt had the biggest
- 5:38impact on my spray control, but was also
- 5:41going to have a direct reflection how I
- 5:44would use it in game. The routine starts
- 5:46with spray training workshop map. I'll
- 5:48put a link in the description for that.
- 5:50For the day one I focused on the key
- 5:52weapons to see where I was making
- 5:54mistakes in my spray control. The thing
- 5:56I noticed is that my AK spray and my
- 5:59M4A1-S spray were kind of wrong after
- 6:02the first 10 bullets. This was great to
- 6:04realize because this is something I can
- 6:06focus on as well for the week. For day
- 6:08two I was really focusing on the spray
- 6:10for if two enemies swung me. So the
- 6:12rookie mode on refrag. This was really
- 6:14great because it wasn't just spray
- 6:16transferring one target, it was making
- 6:18sure that I kept the spray in the right
- 6:20position for if two targets swung me.
- 6:22This is really useful if you are holding
- 6:24a site or position across the map. One
- 6:26thing I'm actively trying to do because
- 6:28I'm realizing and I need to make a note
- 6:30of this is that I am over tensing my
- 6:33sprays. So as soon as the spray starts I
- 6:35like heavily push down and that makes
- 6:38the pull down so much more difficult.
- 6:40This felt a bit unnatural because I was
- 6:41trying my best not to panic
- 6:43despite the second enemy appearing in my
- 6:45view. I really made sure not panic,
- 6:48finish and confirm the first kill which
- 6:51is very important and then move on to
- 6:53the second. Day three and we focused on
- 6:55spray transfers, not just peaking from
- 6:58the same angle like the spray rookie
- 6:59mode. For this you're making sure that
- 7:01you're spraying at one target as a
- 7:03second target appears somewhere else on
- 7:05your screen. I wanted to make sure that
- 7:07mid target switching felt a lot more
- 7:09automatic in my game. This is a really
- 7:11hard skill to perfect because it's not
- 7:13only about your flick, it's also about
- 7:16tracking while mid spray. This mode
- 7:18probably felt the most rewarding as we
- 7:20went on because as this improved I felt
- 7:23more confident in my spray and using it
- 7:26in real situations. And day four was
- 7:29about range management and discipline.
- 7:31So it was focusing on rule one for
- 7:33matching the range, the distance from
- 7:36ourselves to our enemies to the method
- 7:38we use when shooting. So whether it's
- 7:41spraying, bursting or tapping. And to do
- 7:44this, we use some modes like crossfire,
- 7:48XFire, and rush. This was done so we
- 7:51could subconsciously start choosing
- 7:53between which shooting method to use
- 7:55while training consciously. On day five,
- 7:58I hit a bit of a brick wall though. And
- 8:00honestly, it was one of my low days. I
- 8:02had my old habits creeping back. I was
- 8:05panic spraying. There was just
- 8:06frustration in everything I did. But
- 8:08maybe that's because I spent a whole day
- 8:10in the sun, and getting mild heatstroke
- 8:13isn't great for your performance. But I
- 8:15had to remember that this training
- 8:16routine will take time. So, I took a
- 8:19break, and I dived into day six. By day
- 8:22six, this training routine was solid. We
- 8:24started with Refrag Master for about 5
- 8:27to 10 minutes to make sure we got those
- 8:28spray patterns correct. We then jumped
- 8:31into the Refrag routine, which by the
- 8:33way, if you search up Keat in the Refrag
- 8:35routines, you will find my Keat spray
- 8:38control routine there for you to use,
- 8:40too. And in each modes, I was climbing
- 8:42the ELO ladder. This is how I knew I was
- 8:45getting better and better each day. And
- 8:47with Refrag, I was making sure to put
- 8:49the three rules and the three steps we
- 8:51talked about, but under pressure. Then,
- 8:53we finished off the day with death match
- 8:56to make sure that the training was
- 8:58becoming subconscious. And so, for day
- 9:00seven, of course, we wanted to look at
- 9:03not only just doing the training,
- 9:05but also look at how I did over the
- 9:07week. And
- 9:09from these two sets of stats, so my
- 9:13sessions, which is the new Refrag
- 9:15feature that you can use to track how
- 9:17you are doing across your training on
- 9:19refrag.gg, but also using Leetify to
- 9:23track how I did in my matches. And as
- 9:25you can see here on Refrag, from my last
- 9:2824 matches, where I got a plus 3% on my
- 9:30spray accuracy. So, I think we can show
- 9:33that my training and this routine that
- 9:36I've built, so remember for searching
- 9:37Keith in the routines on Refrag, it it
- 9:40actually translated from training into
- 9:42matches, which is massive and absolutely
- 9:45huge, and it's something that I'm going
- 9:46to continue doing going forward. And not
- 9:48just from a numbers point of view, if we
- 9:50go into the feel of it, I'm definitely
- 9:52choosing my shooting method better. I'm
- 9:54spraying at close range. I'm bursting at
- 9:57the mid to far range. Maybe I need to do
- 9:59more taps, but at least this is an
- 10:01improvement. And I definitely felt like
- 10:03I could be repeatable with my multi-frag
- 10:05and it didn't feel just lucky. So, my
- 10:07honest verdict is this. Does one week
- 10:10make you Donk? No, of course not. You
- 10:13have to work and work and work to get
- 10:15where Donk has, but it has improved me,
- 10:19and I do believe it will improve you.
- 10:21The framework is there so that we can
- 10:23improve together,
- 10:24and so in the future,
- 10:26after months of this rewiring and this
- 10:29training, we will continue to grow,
- 10:31especially if we go back and use the
- 10:33crosshair placement routine
- 10:35that I made in this video here.
- 10:38Together, these two mechanics will
- 10:40completely change how you approach every
- 10:43duel. Make sure you comment below what
- 10:45your biggest struggle with spray control
- 10:46is, or even just the biggest struggle
- 10:48you have when playing the game. And
- 10:50maybe the next video will be what you
- 10:53guys are struggling with most. Right,
- 10:55thanks for watching. Make sure you
- 10:56subscribe, watch this playlist if you're
- 10:58trying to improve as well, and use the
- 11:00code Keith on Refrag for a free 3 days
- 11:04of competitive tier so that you can
- 11:06continue to train like the pros. Right,
- 11:09I'll see you in the next video.
- 11:11Peace.
