- 0:03understand the improved code. The game
- 0:05gained huge attention in 2014, but
- 0:07development moved extremely slowly. In
- 0:092017, developer Alex partnered with a
- 0:11game company and brought in a
- 0:13professional programmer. The programmer
- 0:15found thousands of basic if statements
- 0:17controlling the characters and began
- 0:18rebuilding the code, but Alex resisted
- 0:20saying, "That isn't my code anymore. I
- 0:22won't be able to understand it like
- 0:23that." He insisted they keep using his
- 0:25methods. The partnership collapsed and
- 0:27the project became surrounded by
- 0:29controversy. Despite that, the game's
- 0:30unusual concept continued receiving
- 0:32praise and development continues today.
