Why Minimalism Supports Manifestation (And Why Materialism Deters It) - FULLY EXPLAINED — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hi guys. Welcome back. I want to talk
- 0:04about something that I feel is super
- 0:06important and that benefits everybody
- 0:10and most importantly you.
- 0:13I'm going to be talking about how
- 0:15materialism can actually deter
- 0:17manifestation.
- 0:19Why living a more minimalist,
- 0:22resourceful, and frugal lifestyle
- 0:25actually supports manifestation.
- 0:28Even though this might sound contrary to
- 0:31what a lot of people are trying to do is
- 0:32manifest physical objects, material
- 0:35objects into this world. I'm going to be
- 0:38talking about why this specifically
- 0:41accelerates your manifestation
- 0:44through living more frugally and
- 0:46minimally
- 0:47while also
- 0:49learning how to detach from the material
- 0:51world and material items in general.
- 0:54So, to begin with, this is a
- 0:55conversation I had not only with myself,
- 0:58but I've had this conversation with a
- 1:00lot of other people recently.
- 1:03Us humans are not primed
- 1:07to be domesticated to the level that we
- 1:10have become today.
- 1:12Humans
- 1:14are a species that are driven to create
- 1:19and thrive in societies.
- 1:23And I am in no means saying that we
- 1:26should all revert back to a primal
- 1:28state. What am I
- 1:30What I am saying is that
- 1:32the human race has expanded at such a
- 1:36rapid rate that we are not able to keep
- 1:38up with it.
- 1:40Maybe you're not from a part of the
- 1:41world that has developed at this rate
- 1:44and maybe you're still
- 1:46within a more primal state. A lot of us
- 1:50are indoors under fluorescent lights, on
- 1:53screens 8 to 12 hours a day.
- 1:55We are not designed for that. Humans are
- 1:58wired for connection.
- 2:00We are wired for relationships
- 2:04and
- 2:06interconnectedness with ourselves and
- 2:09the world as a whole. What I'm saying
- 2:12here is that modern life in today's
- 2:15world, if you are living in
- 2:18a more advanced society on this planet,
- 2:23we have been distracted by screens.
- 2:26We have been distracted by food, music,
- 2:29TV,
- 2:30even, unfortunately enough, pornography.
- 2:33A lot of us are distracted by these
- 2:35things and it strips us of our human
- 2:38nature. When we don't have gaps of time
- 2:40to sit alone with ourselves and really
- 2:42reflect on life, our purpose, and the
- 2:46greater meaning of
- 2:48what it means to be here on Earth and
- 2:51what it means to be human,
- 2:53we
- 2:55don't have a sense of wholeness when
- 2:58we're distracted by so many things. I
- 3:00think because so many of us are
- 3:02desensitized to
- 3:04having grand lives, having access to so
- 3:09much food,
- 3:11entertainment, stimulation, we really
- 3:13forget what it's like to be human.
- 3:15We really forget what it's like to show
- 3:16gratitude
- 3:18and step into our human nature. Now,
- 3:20when I talk about manifestation
- 3:22specifically,
- 3:25we manifest
- 3:27from the end state. And I think
- 3:29something that deters the end state is
- 3:32an occupation
- 3:34with
- 3:36indulgence. I think it is an occupation
- 3:39with
- 3:41insecurity. I think it is an occupation
- 3:44with the lack of connectedness to our
- 3:46human nature.
- 3:48One thing I think has really helped when
- 3:50it comes to connecting with human nature
- 3:52is
- 3:53if you haven't picked up on this
- 3:55intuitively already, I think it's having
- 3:57alone time
- 3:58and sitting with the self. This is
- 4:00something I greatly stressed in the
- 4:03first video I uploaded on YouTube, which
- 4:04is how to quit maladaptive daydreaming.
- 4:06You could also apply this concept to
- 4:08stopping negative thoughts and
- 4:10maladaptive day daydreaming itself.
- 4:12When you sit alone with yourself, you
- 4:14allow time
- 4:16for yourself to really take apart your
- 4:18thoughts and analyze
- 4:21all the inner conflicts that you might
- 4:23have, the trauma you might have if you
- 4:27have trauma in your life.
- 4:28And it allows you to figure out who you
- 4:30are as a person, what drives you, and
- 4:33what you believe your purpose is. I
- 4:35greatly believe that if you cannot spend
- 4:3810 minutes alone with yourself in
- 4:40silence, you have some sort of inner
- 4:43conflict to resolve. The resolution to
- 4:46this looks as simple as sitting alone
- 4:48with yourself.
- 4:49It looks like journaling, and it looks
- 4:51like giving yourself permission to
- 4:54discover your inner world. I want to go
- 4:57beyond the individual aspect of this,
- 5:00but I feel like because humans are wired
- 5:02to crave connection,
- 5:04reaching out to others is also so
- 5:06important because the material world is
- 5:09shallow.
- 5:10Material things do not last forever.
- 5:14Material items are temporary, and they
- 5:16will never bring us permanent happiness
- 5:19no matter how much money you might have,
- 5:22no matter how nice of a car you might
- 5:24have, no matter how much of whatever you
- 5:27might have, it's never truly going to
- 5:29make you happy. It might make you feel
- 5:31happy in the moment when you first
- 5:33receive it, but you will be desensitized
- 5:35to it at some point. Relationships on
- 5:38the other hand, they have a serious
- 5:41chemical effect on our brains.
- 5:43Relationships happen at a chemical
- 5:45level.
- 5:47Humans bond through oxytocin and
- 5:50serotonin, which are the feel-good
- 5:51hormones when we bond, when
- 5:54mothers have a newborn, when people are
- 5:57intimate together, we actually release
- 5:59oxytocin, which is again the bonding
- 6:02hormone.
- 6:04And this is biologically, scientifically
- 6:07proven to make us happy. Relationships
- 6:09Relationships
- 6:11are truly what makes us happy. So, I
- 6:13believe the more meaningful
- 6:16relationships we have versus just like
- 6:18the number of friends we have because
- 6:19there's an obvious quality over quantity
- 6:23argument here. We really want to focus
- 6:25on the quality of relationships over
- 6:27having material items
- 6:29in our lives because I feel like
- 6:32there is a couple of societies where
- 6:34we've seen serious mental health crisis
- 6:37happen and they've been in societies
- 6:39that have developed at a rapid pace,
- 6:43especially in regards to rapid
- 6:47industrial development and an emphasis
- 6:51on individualism. I don't believe in
- 6:56buying big cars, shopping for fancy
- 6:58clothes. Of course, it's nice to treat
- 7:00myself every once in a while, but I
- 7:01don't feel like this is a necessity
- 7:03because
- 7:05I wasn't really exposed to most societal
- 7:07norms that most people were when they
- 7:10grew up. And this I feel like led to my
- 7:15advantage of not being a materialist,
- 7:17but also had some big drawbacks because
- 7:20I didn't have social skills growing up,
- 7:21but that's for another video. I bought a
- 7:24lot of stuff that I didn't need. I often
- 7:25bought things out of impulse. I shopped
- 7:28out of impulse a lot in my teenage
- 7:29years. I bought a lot of stuff that I
- 7:32didn't really need.
- 7:33And there was just this clutter around
- 7:37me that was energetically draining. My
- 7:39room was a mess. I didn't want to clean
- 7:41up.
- 7:42And there were so many things that I was
- 7:43preoccupied with, that I was distracted
- 7:45with, and I didn't give myself room to
- 7:47realize
- 7:49how much of a miracle it is that we even
- 7:52just have water running, that we have
- 7:54access to food, and we have access to
- 7:56health care. Beyond my own perspective,
- 7:58I talked with my father about this, and
- 8:00my father and I have a lot in common,
- 8:02but we also have very different
- 8:04experiences in life, and we have very
- 8:06different personalities, and we do have
- 8:08some differing opinions, but he has
- 8:10adopted a more minimalist lifestyle, and
- 8:13he's he has recently given himself more
- 8:16time to think about things, I think. And
- 8:19I've noticed a big shift in his
- 8:21personality, and he's like
- 8:24I can just tell he's like a lot more
- 8:25spiritually inclined.
- 8:28And this goes for friends, long-time
- 8:31friends that I've had. There's one
- 8:32friend in particular that I have,
- 8:35and she often struggled with material
- 8:38things, and
- 8:40she got out of a situation where she was
- 8:42like
- 8:43challenged with material items in her
- 8:45life, and she started focusing on
- 8:48clearing her mind,
- 8:50and working on her relationships with
- 8:52the people whom she was closest with. I
- 8:55feel like
- 8:56being that we're able to work physically
- 9:00together,
- 9:01and just understand that we both have
- 9:03this shared experience of battling
- 9:08materialism,
- 9:10and clearing it from our identities, and
- 9:13focusing on relationships, experiences,
- 9:16and true desires, desires that we want
- 9:19from the heart, I feel like has just
- 9:20elevated us, and it's made us so much
- 9:22more grateful for the things that are
- 9:24truly around us. I know a lot of you are
- 9:27probably going to argue against this.
- 9:29Again, I want to emphasize I am not
- 9:32against individualism, and I know
- 9:36this topic does revolve around
- 9:38capitalism and consumerism and
- 9:40materialism. I think to a degree
- 9:43capitalism is healthy and it supports a
- 9:46growing economy. I am not against it. I
- 9:49think there is a need for balance
- 9:51between capitalism and a care for the
- 9:55social collective.
- 9:57I think balance is everything. I truly
- 9:59believe moderation is everything. So, if
- 10:02you're watching this and you have a
- 10:03differing opinion, I am just wanting to
- 10:05let you know that I don't I am not on
- 10:08one side. I'm very moderate about this.
- 10:12What I want
- 10:14to preach in this video is that
- 10:16you are so much more than your material
- 10:18belongings.
- 10:20And that you can acquire what you want
- 10:22most in life when you learn to detach
- 10:25from those belongings. When you
- 10:27physically declutter your space and
- 10:29realize that you have quiet in your mind
- 10:33that you can tune into to learn what you
- 10:35really want in life.
- 10:37Thus, you will have more mental clarity
- 10:40to begin embodying that desire and allow
- 10:43for it to manifest and bloom into
- 10:45reality.
- 10:47Thank you guys if you stayed until the
- 10:48end of this video. I definitely did not
- 10:50structure this video at all being that
- 10:52it was just a topic I really wanted to
- 10:54talk about. I appreciate your time and
- 10:56patience here. If you want to see it
- 10:58more content like this, please like,
- 11:01comment, and subscribe. Let me know what
- 11:03kind of content you want to see in the
- 11:05future. And until next time, I'll see
- 11:07you guys.
- 11:09Bye.
