  1. 0:00Men have broad and large chests.
  2. 0:02>> All right, just objectively verifiable
  3. 0:06biological realities. Let's
  4. 0:07>> small narrow hips and more understanding
  5. 0:09than women.
  6. 0:10>> Um, yes. Look at the bell curve. Okay.
  7. 0:12There are far more male geniuses than
  8. 0:14there ever has been or will be female
  9. 0:16geniuses.
  10. 0:17>> To the end, they should remain at home,
  11. 0:19sit still, keep house, and bear and
  12. 0:21bring up children. Martin Luther, ladies
  13. 0:22and gentlemen.
  14. 0:24>> Yes.
  15. 0:25>> Martin Luther, not Matt Chandler.
  16. 0:27>> Martin.
  17. 0:27>> Oh, no. No. And this is what I'm talking
  18. 0:29about, guys. This is why the men are
  19. 0:30leaving. Like a man of God who reads the
  20. 0:32scriptures and a woman of God too reads
  21. 0:34the scriptures and they go, "Yeah, yeah,
  22. 0:36that's fine. What's wrong with that?"
  23. 0:43My main question is, why are he told me
  24. 0:45to proclaim the good news in the
  25. 0:47darkness? We must make America Christian
  26. 0:50again.
  27. 0:54For the last several decades,
  28. 0:55evangelicalism has been losing the men.
  29. 0:57We all know it. We look around, we see
  30. 0:59it, we feel it, right? Young men are
  31. 1:01walking into evangelical churches with
  32. 1:03pastors with skinny jeans singing Jesus
  33. 1:05is my boyfriend music and thinking to
  34. 1:07themselves, "I don't think I belong
  35. 1:09here." They feel as though they have to
  36. 1:11check their masculinity at the door. And
  37. 1:15the problem is they're kind of right.
  38. 1:17The church has become feminized. The
  39. 1:19church has become effeminite. And that's
  40. 1:21why they're leaving. Well, that's part
  41. 1:24of it. The real reason I believe is
  42. 1:26ultimately theological. Theology is
  43. 1:28after all the queen of the sciences. And
  44. 1:30I believe the real reason underneath the
  45. 1:32reason that men are actually leaving is
  46. 1:35because we have forsaken biblical
  47. 1:37patriarchy. We've replaced it with a
  48. 1:39halfway house called complimentarianism.
  49. 1:41So we are going to get into that today.
  50. 1:43This is an old video. Let's pull it up.
  51. 1:46This is an old video that I'm going to
  52. 1:47be reacting to from Pastor Matt
  53. 1:50Chandler. It's like seven years old,
  54. 1:51eight years old it says down there. And
  55. 1:54I really genuinely believe that what
  56. 1:57we're about to witness, what we're about
  57. 1:59to watch together, you and I, summarizes
  58. 2:04so much of what's wrong with evangelical
  59. 2:06Christianity. And the reason why I'm
  60. 2:08bringing this to you is because there's
  61. 2:10a better way. But we'll get to that.
  62. 2:11We'll get to that. So, let's tune in to
  63. 2:14this video. The the topic, the sermon
  64. 2:16title was comp the complimentary roles
  65. 2:19of men and women. and he is essentially
  66. 2:22laying out his uh his thesis, well the
  67. 2:25official church position of his church,
  68. 2:27the village church. And I'll leave the
  69. 2:30the video in the description this time
  70. 2:31so you can actually go see the whole
  71. 2:33thing if you need to. But we're going to
  72. 2:34watch a section of this that summarizes
  73. 2:36the issue. So he's laying out what he
  74. 2:38perceives to be the four categories of
  75. 2:44acceptable views within Orthodox
  76. 2:45Christianity as it relates to gender
  77. 2:47roles. Okay? And from the outset, we're
  78. 2:50going to see a problem with this. But
  79. 2:51let's jump into the video and then I'll
  80. 2:54comment on it as we go and then kind of
  81. 2:55offer the solution. Um, and you know,
  82. 2:58spoiler alert, the solution is biblical
  83. 3:00patriarchy. Okay? So, but we'll make the
  84. 3:02case as we go. So, let's do this. And
  85. 3:05then we'll talk about where we land as a
  86. 3:06church and what that looks like. So,
  87. 3:07here they are. Uh, biblical
  88. 3:08Christianity, feminism, egalitarianism,
  89. 3:10complimentarianism, and patriarchy. Now,
  90. 3:12uh, depending on your background, one or
  91. 3:13more of those words could be cuss words
  92. 3:15to you. Okay. Starting off here, we've
  93. 3:18got, you can see the graph. I'll walk
  94. 3:20you through it. Biblical Christianity.
  95. 3:23And then we've got in the bottom there,
  96. 3:24the roles of men and women. And within
  97. 3:26the framework of biblical Christianity,
  98. 3:29and this is crazy. Within that
  99. 3:31framework, we have feminism,
  100. 3:33egalitarianism, complimentarianism,
  101. 3:35patriarchy, patriarchy, and feminism
  102. 3:38being on the far right and the far left.
  103. 3:39Okay? But but don't worry, we're gonna
  104. 3:41find that that mean that middle way,
  105. 3:43that third way, that Tim Keller third
  106. 3:45way.
  107. 3:47We're not. Okay, we'll we'll get to
  108. 3:48that, though. So, um so we're starting
  109. 3:51off really horrible because anything
  110. 3:53related to feminism is completely
  111. 3:55foreign to orthodox Christianity. All
  112. 3:57right, historic Orthodox Christianity.
  113. 4:00Everything feminism came from the 1920s
  114. 4:03to the 1960s theologically speaking.
  115. 4:06That's when all the uh biblical
  116. 4:08scholarship, the biblical criticism and
  117. 4:10all these feminist scholars are doing
  118. 4:11their work to invalidate the scriptures
  119. 4:12and inject their cultural or their
  120. 4:15Marxism. Yeah, the cultural Marxism into
  121. 4:17the scriptures. But let's keep going
  122. 4:18here, right? Depending on your
  123. 4:20background. But here's where I'm trying
  124. 4:21to just kind of inform you. Notice that
  125. 4:23half of patriarchy is cut out under the
  126. 4:25framework of biblical Christianity. And
  127. 4:26notice that half of feminism is cut out
  128. 4:28around biblical Christianity. So on the
  129. 4:30patriarchy side of things, you can have
  130. 4:31misogyny and all sorts of wicked evil
  131. 4:33things that have occurred in churches,
  132. 4:35outside of churches around the
  133. 4:37overemphasis of male domination. Okay,
  134. 4:40starting off, this is the perennial
  135. 4:43problem within evangelicalism, the need
  136. 4:46to punch really hard to the right,
  137. 4:49right? All of the nasty patriarchy
  138. 4:51people, they're doineering, right?
  139. 4:53They're dangerous. Well, I say I'm going
  140. 4:56to be fair to him. He's saying that uh
  141. 4:58half of the circle there is within
  142. 5:00biblical Christianity, but on the far
  143. 5:02right out there, those are the nasty
  144. 5:04guys. And don't get me wrong, there are
  145. 5:06some nasty patriarchy people out there.
  146. 5:08I agree. But you'll see this trend.
  147. 5:11We're got to put on the gloves off
  148. 5:14actually when we're punching right. When
  149. 5:15we're punching left, it's like they mean
  150. 5:16well. The feminists, they mean well, you
  151. 5:19know, but they just got a few things
  152. 5:20wrong. This is the perennial problem
  153. 5:22which is driving off young men who are
  154. 5:24right leaning and men are traditionally
  155. 5:27more right leaning than left leaning and
  156. 5:29that divide is growing increasingly
  157. 5:31year-over-year. Um but yeah, it's a huge
  158. 5:34problem. All right, so that's that's the
  159. 5:36framing. That's uh that's how the
  160. 5:38evangelical world has operated for a
  161. 5:39long time is punch really hard to the
  162. 5:41right, kid gloves for the left, and
  163. 5:43that's driving men off. So we're just
  164. 5:45going to keep kind of noticing these
  165. 5:46things as we go, guys. And then on the
  166. 5:49far side of feminism, you have kind of
  167. 5:51the gender fluidity and that men don't
  168. 5:52matter and everything that men do are
  169. 5:54evil and there should be nothing
  170. 5:56masculine in the world that is not evil
  171. 5:57and oppressive and should be snuffed
  172. 5:59out. Right? So I'm saying those two
  173. 6:01things, let's lop those things off and
  174. 6:02let's just get in to here and and then
  175. 6:04just my it's super hot in my garage and
  176. 6:07if you're listening, this makes no sense
  177. 6:08to you, but I'm smoking my pipe and it's
  178. 6:10like a I've got a fan like two inches
  179. 6:12from my face. Hopefully you guys can't
  180. 6:13hear that too much, but uh that's why
  181. 6:15the smoke is blowing away at uh
  182. 6:17incredible speeds. Cards on the table,
  183. 6:19even inside these brackets. I think
  184. 6:21patriarchy has some good true things in
  185. 6:23it, but it's an overemphasis that
  186. 6:25creates a kind of um underdevelopment in
  187. 6:28the church. And I think feminism is the
  188. 6:30same way, an overemphasis on the other
  189. 6:32side of things that leads to some
  190. 6:33underdevelopment where the church cannot
  191. 6:35flourish and the beauty of God's good
  192. 6:36design can't be seen and celebrated. All
  193. 6:38right, so that's my cards on the table.
  194. 6:39Let's dive in to these categories and
  195. 6:42and we'll just see what the Lord has for
  196. 6:43us today. Right. The first one would be
  197. 6:44Christian feminism. Let me quote
  198. 6:46Katherine Bushnell. Here's
  199. 6:48>> All right. I see. And this this is where
  200. 6:49we're starting off here. He places
  201. 6:53Christian feminism within the realms of
  202. 6:55orthodoxy. I I think that is a huge
  203. 6:57mistake. It is a novelty, a historical
  204. 7:00novelty to place any of these 20th
  205. 7:04century
  206. 7:05communist views within orthodoxy. So,
  207. 7:08let's let's hear his explanation,
  208. 7:10though.
  209. 7:10>> Here's where the great mistake is made
  210. 7:12on the woman question. And here's the
  211. 7:14woman question. Is it prudent to allow
  212. 7:15women to do thus and so? Men ask
  213. 7:17themselves this at every step of a
  214. 7:19woman's progress. The only question that
  215. 7:20should be asked is, "Does justice demand
  216. 7:23this? If so, let justice be done, though
  217. 7:25the heavens fall, and anything short of
  218. 7:27justice is mere mischief." All right,
  219. 7:29I'm going to try to as charitably as I
  220. 7:31can define Christian feminism. A
  221. 7:33Christian feminist is someone who seeks
  222. 7:35to define and defend the equal rights of
  223. 7:37women in all spheres of life whether
  224. 7:38that's politically, economically,
  225. 7:40socially or spiritually. So that's
  226. 7:41Christian feminism and I all I want to
  227. 7:43say is I like that it's charitable
  228. 7:46because I have left out the violence by
  229. 7:47which they perceive masculinity. I just
  230. 7:50so okay even there the charitable view
  231. 7:52we we need to reject. We we should
  232. 7:55reject that what he just said that
  233. 7:57litany of uh rights and so on that all
  234. 8:01that is good and because it's not rooted
  235. 8:02in scripture. Let's go back to the
  236. 8:03presuppositions here that he's uh kind
  237. 8:06of exposing within the feminist
  238. 8:07literature here. A Christian feminist is
  239. 8:10someone who seeks to define and defend
  240. 8:11the equal rights of women in all
  241. 8:13>> define and defend the equal rights
  242. 8:16>> spheres of life. Whether that's
  243. 8:17>> of all women in all spheres of life
  244. 8:19>> politically, economically, socially, or
  245. 8:21>> politically, economically, social
  246. 8:24feminis. Okay,
  247. 8:25>> that's ridiculous. That's ridiculous.
  248. 8:28Um, this is the language of the modern
  249. 8:32gay race comm the Marxist left, that
  250. 8:35they believe that they have a right to
  251. 8:37everything. They believe that they have
  252. 8:38a right to everything. That God from on
  253. 8:41high said that men and women obviously
  254. 8:44they th both of those both the genders,
  255. 8:46both the sexes have to have equal say in
  256. 8:49everything. And in fact, that's directly
  257. 8:52contradicted by scripture again and
  258. 8:53again and again. Uh men and women are
  259. 8:55different. Now, um hopefully you guys
  260. 8:58know me well enough by now. If you're
  261. 8:59new to this channel, maybe you don't
  262. 9:00know this, but um I'm not going to be
  263. 9:02like dogging on women. This like I'm
  264. 9:04reformation red pill, not just a red
  265. 9:06pill guy. I am a reformation red pill. I
  266. 9:08go to uh well first and foremost to
  267. 9:10scripture because that is the the
  268. 9:12beating heart of the reformation is soul
  269. 9:13of scripture are going back to the
  270. 9:15sources back to the sources back to
  271. 9:16scripture. Um and the Bible does not
  272. 9:18degrade women. It honors them as the
  273. 9:21weaker vessel. It calls them to uniquely
  274. 9:23feminine glories. And that's what I'm
  275. 9:24going to be calling women to is uniquely
  276. 9:26feminine glories. And I'll be calling
  277. 9:27men to uniquely masculine glories. This
  278. 9:29is very important. Um and this is this
  279. 9:31is how we win, guys. This is how we win
  280. 9:33is getting this right. The reason I'm
  281. 9:34doing this video is because we have to
  282. 9:36if we don't get
  283. 9:39the gender roles and not even the gender
  284. 9:41roles, the nature of men and women
  285. 9:43correctly, we lose. We lose. There's a
  286. 9:46reason why the gay race comm has gone so
  287. 9:51hard hard in the paint with the feminist
  288. 9:54propaganda, right? because they know
  289. 9:58well I mean they know that if you can
  290. 10:00destroy the nuclear family you destroy
  291. 10:03the patriarchy and in fact that was
  292. 10:05their goal explicitly the long march
  293. 10:08through the institutions that the left
  294. 10:10you know took it upon themselves to
  295. 10:13effectuate over the course of the last
  296. 10:1570 years their their guiding light in
  297. 10:19the national women's movement right
  298. 10:21Mallerie Millet I'm sorry Kate Millet
  299. 10:23Mallerie Mallalerie Millet wrote the
  300. 10:24article Kate Millet
  301. 10:26They wrote it out. It's in the
  302. 10:28literature. They wanted to destroy the
  303. 10:30American family so that they could
  304. 10:32destroy the the patriarch, the American
  305. 10:34patriarch. They patriarchy is their
  306. 10:36enemy. And if uh it should tell you
  307. 10:38something that complimentarianism was
  308. 10:40not their enemy. Patriarchy was the
  309. 10:42enemy of the godless pagan death cult
  310. 10:46that is the the modern left, the
  311. 10:49progressive left. They weren't worried
  312. 10:51about complimentarianism.
  313. 10:53Complimentarianism is a halfway house.
  314. 10:55They were worried about patriarchy
  315. 10:57because biblical patriarchy can stand
  316. 10:59against the evil. So let's keep going
  317. 11:01here. Feminism and I all I want to say
  318. 11:03is I like that it's charitable because I
  319. 11:05have left out the violence by which they
  320. 11:07perceive masculinity. I've just cut that
  321. 11:09out because they view with great
  322. 11:10skepticism, fear, and anger. Many of
  323. 11:13them because of experiences and
  324. 11:14backgrounds the role of a man and
  325. 11:16anything open to a man that wouldn't be
  326. 11:18open to a woman is hostile that leads to
  327. 11:19oppression. Right now they root this in
  328. 11:22the Bible. In fact, Christian feminists
  329. 11:24tend to like about three verses of the
  330. 11:25Bible and then reject the rest of it.
  331. 11:27Okay, see this is good. This is good.
  332. 11:29Like, okay, not everything that old Mr.
  333. 11:32Chandler says is bad. He's getting he's
  334. 11:35sticking it to the feminists in the
  335. 11:36right way, but he does leave way too
  336. 11:39much room in the orthodoxy camp for
  337. 11:40feminism. But let's keep going here. All
  338. 11:42right. And this is me being charitable,
  339. 11:44and I know I'm going to get some emails
  340. 11:45and let's just play, right? I'm just
  341. 11:47really confident in what the word of God
  342. 11:48has said. It's not like I just studied
  343. 11:50this this week, right? There's a full
  344. 11:51paper on this and our website. Behind
  345. 11:52that is a 60-page exeetical paper that's
  346. 11:55just on the texts that are around this
  347. 11:56issue. This isn't laziness coming out.
  348. 11:58This is hard, long work from our elder
  349. 12:00board that's being rolled out here
  350. 12:01today, right? And and so in this,
  351. 12:03they're going to make the argument
  352. 12:04theologically based on Genesis 1:27 and
  353. 12:0628. So, let's look at that together.
  354. 12:10Wondering if this is even worth our
  355. 12:12time. I mean, they're they're so
  356. 12:14abhorently wrong. Now, let's uh we might
  357. 12:17skip ahead here. Let me see. So God
  358. 12:19created man in his own image. I can
  359. 12:22summarize it for you. So the the
  360. 12:24feminists, they believe that patriarchy
  361. 12:28is a result of the fall, right? That the
  362. 12:30creation order, the fact that God
  363. 12:32created man and then first and gave him
  364. 12:35the mission and then created Eve out of
  365. 12:36man. Uh that the creation order has
  366. 12:39nothing to do with hierarchy. Um that
  367. 12:41the fact that she is the helpmate has
  368. 12:43nothing to do with authority for them.
  369. 12:46They they I mean it's a total
  370. 12:48bastardization of scripture. There there
  371. 12:50are no good arguments for Christian
  372. 12:51feminism and I'm very serious about
  373. 12:52that. None. Zero. Like look, I I I have
  374. 12:55done the reading, okay? I have the
  375. 12:56books. I can get it for you right here.
  376. 12:58All right. I've got other books, but
  377. 13:00this is the one that's most readily
  378. 13:01available. I've read the books. I've
  379. 13:02done it and they are awful. The the
  380. 13:04arguments are absolutely terrible. So,
  381. 13:06that's enough of that. We can just skip
  382. 13:08that. um all the cases for feminism
  383. 13:11>> the Christian feminists make is of women
  384. 13:13and the subjugation of women under the
  385. 13:15tyranny of men that's the argument now
  386. 13:18in this space Christian feminists tend
  387. 13:20to because they view the Bible with
  388. 13:22great skepticism because they will argue
  389. 13:2485 90% of them will argue that the Bible
  390. 13:27was written by men for men to protect
  391. 13:29the power
  392. 13:30>> okay this is obviously wrong this is we
  393. 13:31can we can skip ahead here
  394. 13:32>> abortion so that would be Christian
  395. 13:34feminism now um let's talk about
  396. 13:36>> All right so now we're going to get on
  397. 13:38to patriarchy. So, he's starting with
  398. 13:40the fringes, right? He's starting with
  399. 13:41the far left. The problems on the far
  400. 13:43left in his mind. Um, and now we're
  401. 13:46going to the far right, the the problem
  402. 13:48with patriarchy. So, let's let's see
  403. 13:50what Mr. Chandler here, Pastor Chandler
  404. 13:52has to say about patriarchy.
  405. 13:54>> Patriarchy. Remember what I said about
  406. 13:55these two, right? Remember that that I
  407. 13:57said parts of what they believe is just
  408. 13:59completely out of orthodoxy, but then
  409. 14:00there is some kind of it's truth, but
  410. 14:02it's an overemphasized truth, right? So,
  411. 14:03where Christian feminists would just
  412. 14:05say, "Hey, listen. We've both been
  413. 14:06created in the image of God. We've got
  414. 14:07dignity, value, and worth. I just hardly
  415. 14:08affirm that and say yes and admit to
  416. 14:10that. But it's an overemphasizing
  417. 14:12uh of woman so that there is no
  418. 14:13distinction. And we believe there's a
  419. 14:15distinction, right? A dependence, but
  420. 14:17also a distinction. And so we'll talk
  421. 14:18more about that when we get to where we
  422. 14:20land, right? So let me read this quote.
  423. 14:22I'm I'm going be straight with you. I'm
  424. 14:23a little anxious about reading it, but
  425. 14:24I'm just going to read it. I want you to
  426. 14:25hear me. Look right at me. This
  427. 14:26>> All right. Here we go. He's going to
  428. 14:28read a quote. He's really He's anxious
  429. 14:29about reading it. Let's hear Let's hear
  430. 14:31it. It's must be It must be really bad.
  431. 14:33Let's hear it.
  432. 14:34>> Is a quote.
  433. 14:36We we good?
  434. 14:37>> Okay. It's Martin Luther, one of the
  435. 14:39fathers of the Protestant Reformation.
  436. 14:41>> Men have broad and
  437. 14:42>> Martin Luther
  438. 14:43>> large chests, small narrow, fathers of
  439. 14:46the Protestant Reformation.
  440. 14:47>> Men have broad and large chests and
  441. 14:50small narrow hips and more understanding
  442. 14:52than women who have but small and narrow
  443. 14:53breasts and broad hips. To the end they
  444. 14:55should remain at home, sit still, keep
  445. 14:57house, and bear and bring up children.
  446. 14:59>> Okay. All right. Let's see how Let's see
  447. 15:01how Martin Luther ladies and gentlemen.
  448. 15:04>> That's it's a punch line. Luther, not
  449. 15:05Matt Chandler.
  450. 15:06>> It's a Martin Luther, not Matt Chandler.
  451. 15:08Let's go back and read that. All right.
  452. 15:11Or let him say it again. I guess
  453. 15:12>> men have broad and large chests.
  454. 15:14>> All right. Just objectively verifiable
  455. 15:19biological realities. Let's
  456. 15:20>> small narrow hips and more understanding
  457. 15:22than women.
  458. 15:23>> Okay? And this is important. This is
  459. 15:25important. Um
  460. 15:28let's just put it this way. Biology
  461. 15:30matters. Your nature matters. God did
  462. 15:32not just
  463. 15:33uh arbitrarily assign different roles to
  464. 15:36the sexes. The different roles. This is
  465. 15:38where complimentarianism goes very wrong
  466. 15:40because it roots uh it roots everything
  467. 15:42in the different roles that God has
  468. 15:44assigned to the sexes and you know that
  469. 15:47he's clearly outlined in scripture. So
  470. 15:50it it bases the differences just purely
  471. 15:52in the roles as if the roles that God
  472. 15:54gave to men and women are kind of
  473. 15:56arbitrary like you know men are the ones
  474. 16:00who are called to preach just because
  475. 16:02you know they got something between
  476. 16:03their legs. All right has nothing to do
  477. 16:05has nothing to do with their nature has
  478. 16:06nothing to do with how they uniquely
  479. 16:09reflect the image of God. Okay this is
  480. 16:12where complimentarianism goes wrong. It
  481. 16:14rejects the It rejects the idea that we
  482. 16:18truly do have something truly different
  483. 16:20in our nature. And it's like, you know,
  484. 16:22we're I the Bible doesn't say this
  485. 16:23explicitly, but it does insinuate it. I
  486. 16:26I I well, I would say, no, it does. We
  487. 16:29can say this with certainty because
  488. 16:30Jesus Christ was a man, and whenever he
  489. 16:33was raised with a glorified body, one
  490. 16:35that we too will receive, a glorified
  491. 16:37body that we too will receive, he
  492. 16:40maintained his masculinity. He was a man
  493. 16:42still. So when in the new creation we
  494. 16:45will be man and woman, male and female.
  495. 16:48It is in our nature. It is embedded into
  496. 16:51the source code of our soul. Okay? And
  497. 16:54that's good. That's good. It's not it's
  498. 16:56not just arbitrary these roles that God
  499. 16:58has given us. They're rooted in our
  500. 16:59nature. So um so Martin Luther is
  501. 17:03observing the fact that we're different
  502. 17:06biologically, physically, and it is, you
  503. 17:09know, those physical realities, those uh
  504. 17:12physical differences actually tell a
  505. 17:15story of what God intends for us to do.
  506. 17:17All right, so let's keep going here. Who
  507. 17:19have but small and narrow breasts and
  508. 17:20broad hips to the
  509. 17:21>> Oh, and the understanding piece. Um yes,
  510. 17:24look at the bell curve. Okay. Um there
  511. 17:27are far more
  512. 17:30male geniuses.
  513. 17:32And this these are just the facts, okay?
  514. 17:34There are far more male geniuses than
  515. 17:36there ever has been or will be female
  516. 17:38geniuses, right? In fact, uh the the IQ
  517. 17:42distribution says that kind of there are
  518. 17:45slightly fewer women who are generally
  519. 17:48more intelligent and everyone at the far
  520. 17:51end of the bell curve, genius level are
  521. 17:54uh are are men basically. And on the
  522. 17:57other side too there there's a lot of
  523. 17:58retards that are men too. So we gota
  524. 18:01have both sides of the bell curve. Um
  525. 18:04but anyway I I say that to say God this
  526. 18:07is not an accident. God if if you just
  527. 18:09observe reality just observe so
  528. 18:10sociology and this isn't me saying hey
  529. 18:12women are stupid. This is me saying that
  530. 18:14God gave men and women unique gifts
  531. 18:17unique talents that that accord with
  532. 18:20their nature. All right. And some of the
  533. 18:22some of you probably not my audience
  534. 18:24probably isn't offended by that. But
  535. 18:25that them's just the facts. And what we
  536. 18:27want to say is that those facts point to
  537. 18:29a deeper reality, a spiritual reality
  538. 18:31that actually God lays out for us in
  539. 18:32scripture. Right? So it's it it
  540. 18:35shouldn't be offensive to anybody. So
  541. 18:37men have they're generally stronger.
  542. 18:39They're built differently. They have
  543. 18:40more understanding. Okay. Another piece
  544. 18:42of this puzzle is is that uh the reason
  545. 18:45that the Apostle Paul gives Nope. You
  546. 18:47know what? Let's get to that in a
  547. 18:49minute. We're going to talk about why
  548. 18:50women can't be pastors and elders, but
  549. 18:52we'll do that later. To the end, they
  550. 18:53should remain at home, sit still, keep
  551. 18:55house, and bear, and bring up children.
  552. 18:57Okay. To the end, they should remain at
  553. 19:00home, sit still, keep house, and uh
  554. 19:03bring up children. What is wrong with
  555. 19:05that? What is wrong with that phrase?
  556. 19:08What's wrong with it is the feminists
  557. 19:10have made it out, have successfully
  558. 19:12indoctrinated multiple generations at
  559. 19:15this point into believing that that is
  560. 19:16somehow beneath them. that that is
  561. 19:19somehow less than when in reality that
  562. 19:23is one of the most glorious things they
  563. 19:24could ever do is to stay in the home,
  564. 19:27keep the home, bear and raise and
  565. 19:29nurture children. It is literally it's
  566. 19:31the thing that they can do that men
  567. 19:33cannot do. It is their glory, right? It
  568. 19:36is one of the unique ways that they
  569. 19:37image that they uh display the image of
  570. 19:40their creator, right? God is a creator
  571. 19:42and a nurturer.
  572. 19:44And so too, women with ch with
  573. 19:47childbearing and nurturing children
  574. 19:49reflect the image of God in a very
  575. 19:51unique way, the most beautiful way
  576. 19:52possible. And feminists have have
  577. 19:55successfully
  578. 19:57propagandized a generation into
  579. 19:58believing that this quote that he just
  580. 20:01said is somehow demoralizing or
  581. 20:03despicable. That's crazy. Can we Can we
  582. 20:06find Can we just say that? That's crazy.
  583. 20:08That's crazy. Anyway, let's keep going
  584. 20:11here.
  585. 20:12>> Martin Luther, ladies and gentlemen.
  586. 20:14>> Yes. Martin Luther, not Matt Chandler.
  587. 20:17Martin.
  588. 20:18>> Oh, no. No. And this is what I'm talking
  589. 20:19about, guys. This is why the men are
  590. 20:20leaving because they they a real man
  591. 20:23hears that quote and they go, "Yeah,
  592. 20:25what's like a man of God who reads the
  593. 20:28scriptures and a woman of God, too,
  594. 20:29reads the scriptures and they go, "Yeah,
  595. 20:31yeah, that's fine. What's wrong with
  596. 20:33that?" Okay. We have been so
  597. 20:34conditioned. We've been so conditioned
  598. 20:36by the spirit of the age, guys. All
  599. 20:38right. If you were offended by that
  600. 20:40quote, and I get it. I would have been
  601. 20:41six, seven years ago, but um if you were
  602. 20:44offended by that quote, you need to you
  603. 20:46got some work to do. Root out that
  604. 20:47latent feminism that is uh that's in
  605. 20:50your bones. It's like cancer. Got to get
  606. 20:52it out of there. Martin Luther, one of
  607. 20:54the fathers of the Protestant
  608. 20:55Reformation. Now, you could say that
  609. 20:57terrible statements like that, and that
  610. 20:59is a terrible statement.
  611. 21:01>> Look, terrible. This is why we're
  612. 21:04losing. This is why we're losing the
  613. 21:05men. Terrible statements like that are
  614. 21:07what really led to organizations like
  615. 21:09Vision Forum uh outline 26 principles
  616. 21:11making up the tenants of Christian
  617. 21:13patriarchy. Now, okay, the 26 the 26 uh
  618. 21:18tenants of Christian patriarchy. I'll
  619. 21:19pull that up here. So, here we've got
  620. 21:21it. These uh these are great. I read
  621. 21:25through them and they're excellent and
  622. 21:28we could go through them right now.
  623. 21:29We'll let him talk about it for just a
  624. 21:31second. Um, if you guys are interested
  625. 21:33in me just doing an episode on the 26
  626. 21:35tenants, kind of laying them out,
  627. 21:37talking through them, giving my reaction
  628. 21:39and my thoughts on them, that could be
  629. 21:41good. Let me know in the comments if you
  630. 21:43would watch that. Okay? So, uh, if I get
  631. 21:45if I hear enough people in the comments
  632. 21:47crying out, begging for it, I'll give it
  633. 21:49to them. I'll give the I'll give the
  634. 21:51people what they want. All right? That's
  635. 21:52the just the kind of guy I am. All
  636. 21:54right, let's keep going here.
  637. 21:56Now, this includes a declaration that
  638. 21:57God is masculine. So, patriarchs
  639. 21:59believe, hey, people land in his casual.
  640. 22:01God is masculine. Here's the deal. He
  641. 22:02is, right? He is He. And Jesus was a
  642. 22:05man. Masculine, right? He wasn't gender
  643. 22:08fluid. He was a man. He didn't It wasn't
  644. 22:10Jesse. Didn't come as a woman. He is a
  645. 22:12man. Man, man. Jesus of Nazareth. The
  646. 22:16man.
  647. 22:17>> Patriarch would argue that the family is
  648. 22:20the foundation of society. And they're
  649. 22:22right. It is. Okay, there we go. See, I
  650. 22:24I we the things we like. Okay, we've we
  651. 22:27just saw a few things we don't like,
  652. 22:29things we like. You know, he said uh
  653. 22:31foundation of family, church, and state
  654. 22:33here. Let's see right there. Um uh I
  655. 22:37think it says it somewhere on there. The
  656. 22:39church, okay,
  657. 22:41see family, church, and state are
  658. 22:43parallel institutions. That's really
  659. 22:45important. Uh parallel institutions
  660. 22:48meaning that meaning that it's it's
  661. 22:50actually quite simple. Like we see very
  662. 22:52clearly in scripture that
  663. 22:55God has ordained men to lead in the
  664. 22:58church, right? 1 Timothy 2:12.
  665. 23:01God ordained I mean plenty of places we
  666. 23:03could go. We've seen that God ordained
  667. 23:05men to lead in the family. Ephesians 6.
  668. 23:08Uh I mean Ephesians 6, we got 1 Peter
  669. 23:11chapter 3. I mean we got lots of places
  670. 23:13we could go there. Okay. Church family.
  671. 23:15And then the other primary sphere of
  672. 23:17authority and submission in society is
  673. 23:20the civil sphere. All right? And we know
  674. 23:23from Isaiah chapter 3 right at the
  675. 23:24beginning of the chapter that when women
  676. 23:26are ruling in the civil sphere that is a
  677. 23:29judgment from God on high on that
  678. 23:31society, right? Women and young people
  679. 23:33ruling in the civil sphere is a
  680. 23:35judgment. So we know that men should be
  681. 23:38ruling in all three spheres.
  682. 23:41That's that is a full orbed biblical
  683. 23:44approach to uh spheres of authority that
  684. 23:47God has ordained and laid out for us in
  685. 23:49scripture. Not just scripture in nature.
  686. 23:50It's obvious we can look at nature and
  687. 23:52see that men are designed for uh
  688. 23:54authority in these in these areas. Now,
  689. 23:56of course, caveat, yes, of course,
  690. 23:59they're they're to lead like Christ,
  691. 24:00right? Loving, sacrificial, all that
  692. 24:02stuff. Yes. Yes. Yes. We'll get to that,
  693. 24:04but uh but that this is the starting
  694. 24:06place. All right. Keep going. Listen up.
  695. 24:09Christians and conservatives are
  696. 24:11literally starting their day by funding
  697. 24:14woke corporations that hate us. You roll
  698. 24:16out of bed, you grab your morning
  699. 24:18coffee, and with every sip, you are
  700. 24:21funding rainbow flag boardrooms and HR
  701. 24:24departments filled with Christ-hating
  702. 24:25liberal school moms who oppose
  703. 24:27everything that you stand for.
  704. 24:29>> HR is watching everywhere and we hate
  705. 24:32you.
  706. 24:32>> That, my friends, is insanity. And
  707. 24:35that's why I start my day with Montana

  715. 24:56choice. Fund the people who hate you and

  718. 25:03again. If you're done compromising at
  719. 25:05the coffee pot and you're ready to keep
  720. 25:07the money in the covenant, go to montana

  745. 26:06Once again, that's www.reform.money
  746. 26:09and tell them that Joshua Hayes from
  747. 26:11Reformation Redpill sent you. Where the
  748. 26:14family goes, the culture goes, the
  749. 26:15country goes. This has been true
  750. 26:17throughout human history. It's true
  751. 26:19right now. In fact, I think you can
  752. 26:20track most of the issues we're having in
  753. 26:22our country back to a disintegration of
  754. 26:24the family unit. That's another sermon
  755. 26:26for another day. Right. They're going to
  756. 26:28argue this is modeled in the patriarchs.
  757. 26:29Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on.
  758. 26:32We can trace back the problems we're
  759. 26:35facing culturally speaking to the
  760. 26:36disintegration of the family. Yes. Yes.
  761. 26:40And let's continue as we go. I'm going
  762. 26:42to be making the case that
  763. 26:43complimentarianism does not have the
  764. 26:44spine, does not have the backbone to
  765. 26:47maintain order in the way that God has
  766. 26:49designed. Okay? It is biblical
  767. 26:51patriarchy is the only way. Let's keep
  768. 26:53going. of the Old Testament, but is also
  769. 26:55upheld in the New Testament. 1
  770. 26:56Corinthians 11:3. But I want you to
  771. 26:58understand that the head of every man is
  772. 27:00Jesus Christ and the head of a wife is
  773. 27:03her husband and the head of Christ is
  774. 27:05God. So this is said to mean that all
  775. 27:07women must be under the authority of a
  776. 27:08man at all times. Okay, this is
  777. 27:10important that by nature
  778. 27:14men are designed to lead and that means
  779. 27:16that a woman like ontologically speaking
  780. 27:21is under the authority of her father
  781. 27:23until such time as she gets married and
  782. 27:26she is under the authority of her
  783. 27:28husband. So ladies, you would start
  784. 27:30under the authority of your father and
  785. 27:32then once you got married, you would be
  786. 27:34under the authority of your husband and
  787. 27:36then god forbid if your husband were to
  788. 27:37die, you would be under the authority of
  789. 27:38your son, your brother or some male
  790. 27:41pastor.
  791. 27:42>> That that's how they would interpret
  792. 27:43this verse in light of the Old Testament
  793. 27:46in a and that authority is not a
  794. 27:48doineering uh authority, not domination.
  795. 27:51We we believe in dominion, not
  796. 27:53domination. All right. Um yeah, it's not
  797. 27:56a doineering authority. It is an
  798. 27:58authority of protection. That's how it's
  799. 28:00supposed to be, right? Men are designed
  800. 28:04in their nature back getting back to
  801. 28:05nature, not just roles. Getting back to
  802. 28:07nature, they are designed to be
  803. 28:09protectors and providers.
  804. 28:11In addition to male authority, Christian
  805. 28:13patriarchy teaches that men and women
  806. 28:14have different roles in the world. Now,
  807. 28:15complimentarians believe this also,
  808. 28:17right? But we'll talk about that because
  809. 28:18they're, like I said, it's an
  810. 28:19overemphasis.
  811. 28:20Phil Lancaster said this. The God-
  812. 28:22ordained and proper sphere of dominion
  813. 28:24for a wife is the household and that
  814. 28:26which is connected with the home. While
  815. 28:28unmarried women may have flexibility, it
  816. 28:30is not the fitting role of women to work
  817. 28:32alongside men as their functional equals
  818. 28:34in public spheres of dominion. That is
  819. 28:37that's so so true, King. So true, Phil
  820. 28:40Lancaster. It's very true. While
  821. 28:43unmarried women may have flexibility,
  822. 28:46okay, where they may may have
  823. 28:47flexibility, we we do live in a modern
  824. 28:49society that is hostile to the way that
  825. 28:53God designed the world, particularly
  826. 28:55with regard to the sexes. Ever since the
  827. 28:56sexual revolution, I mean, it going back
  828. 28:58before that, feminism, first wave,
  829. 28:59feminism was a disaster just like all
  830. 29:01the other waves. It laid the foundation
  831. 29:03for all of the s
  832. 29:05sec succeeding succeeding succeeding
  833. 29:09feminists in their turn. Okay. Yeah.
  834. 29:11Yeah. The first wave feminism bad.
  835. 29:12That's what I'm saying. It's all That's
  836. 29:14all I'm saying, guys. Um and uh yeah,
  837. 29:18and it's not obvious. Oh, yeah. So,
  838. 29:21women have flexibility in the work.
  839. 29:22Yeah. So, and and I'm not I'm also not
  840. 29:25saying don't hear what I'm not saying.
  841. 29:28All right. Hear what I am saying. I am
  842. 29:29not saying that women cannot work
  843. 29:31outside the home. I don't believe that
  844. 29:34because let's go let's go over here. Why
  845. 29:36don't we just go to the word to the word
  846. 29:39to the word we go? Let's go to Proverbs
  847. 29:4431. We're thinking of the ideal woman
  848. 29:47here. All right. So, in Proverbs 31,
  849. 29:50first of all, it starts off, "What are
  850. 29:52you doing, my son?" Uh oh. What are you
  851. 29:55doing, son of my womb? All right. Let's
  852. 29:57go down to the the Proverbs 31 woman
  853. 30:00here.
  854. 30:04An excellent wife. Who can find? All
  855. 30:06right. Hard to find. Hard to find an
  856. 30:07excellent wife, but she's out there.
  857. 30:08There are many. I have found one myself.
  858. 30:10She is far more precious than jewels.
  859. 30:12The heart of her husband trusts in her.
  860. 30:14And I I I want to read this partially
  861. 30:16because we need to get um my audience is
  862. 30:19going to perhaps heir well a lot of my
  863. 30:22audience is going to perhaps heir on the
  864. 30:24side of
  865. 30:26hating women. Not hating women. I know a
  866. 30:28lot of you guys don't hate women. Some
  867. 30:29of you guys have begun to like harbor
  868. 30:32bitterness and resentfulness towards
  869. 30:33women because of the excesses of
  870. 30:36feminism that have taken root in our
  871. 30:37culture. And I get it. I get it. But you
  872. 30:39are not to hate them. Um there God has
  873. 30:42ordained there is a wonderful woman out
  874. 30:44there for you and it might be she might
  875. 30:46have a little bit of latent feminism in
  876. 30:47her. You might have to cure her of that
  877. 30:49and you will be able to. A godly man can
  878. 30:52cure a woman of her feminism. Like
  879. 30:53whenever a godly man walks in the room
  880. 30:55and actually you know he's got gravitas,
  881. 30:58he loves the Lord and he displays
  882. 31:01masculine virtue. You watch women will
  883. 31:04revert back to factory settings. you
  884. 31:07know, like you can cure them of their
  885. 31:09feminism. And some of you girls are
  886. 31:10going to get in the comments. Some of
  887. 31:11you ladies will get in the comments and
  888. 31:13you'll uh you'll affirm what I'm saying.
  889. 31:16I have loads of ex- feminists, which is
  890. 31:18basically all of us. Let's be real.
  891. 31:19Loads of ex- feminists in my comments,
  892. 31:22you know, um affirming this reality that
  893. 31:25uh feminism can be uh relatively easily
  894. 31:29cured in a lot of lot of cases,
  895. 31:30especially women who love the Lord. um
  896. 31:32whenever they encounter a godly
  897. 31:34patriarch or a wouldbe patriarch. So
  898. 31:37anyway, let's uh let's go. My main point
  899. 31:39is is that women can work. So we've got
  900. 31:42she seeks wool and flax and she works uh
  901. 31:44she works with her willing hands. She is
  902. 31:48like the ships of the merchant. She
  903. 31:50brings her food from afar. She rises uh
  904. 31:54she rises while it is yet night and
  905. 31:56provides food for her household and
  906. 31:58portions for her maidens. She considers
  907. 32:01a field and buys it with the fruit of
  908. 32:04her hands. She plants a vineyard. This
  909. 32:06does this sound like a woman who is only
  910. 32:08pregnant barefoot and in the kitchen,
  911. 32:10which by the way is not a slur. It's
  912. 32:11very very good. We like we like pregnant
  913. 32:13barefooted in the kitchen. Okay, we like
  914. 32:15that. Um, does it sound like that? No,
  915. 32:17it doesn't. No, it sounds like um it
  916. 32:20sounds like a young woman who is very
  917. 32:21very capable. Here's the trick. Here's
  918. 32:23the key, guys.
  919. 32:27Where are her efforts aimed? That's the
  920. 32:30key. It's not that women have to be
  921. 32:33confined to the home exclusively. It is
  922. 32:36the question that we must ask is where
  923. 32:38are her efforts aimed? And her efforts,
  924. 32:40the Proverbs 31 woman, are all aimed at
  925. 32:43her people, at serving and helping her
  926. 32:46husband and nurturing and caring for her
  927. 32:49children, and never at the expense of
  928. 32:52her husband and her children. That's
  929. 32:54key. That's key, right? So, all of our
  930. 32:57efforts are aimed at them, never at the
  931. 32:59expense of them. That's the difference.
  932. 33:02So, whenever you are evaluating whether
  933. 33:04or not it's okay to work outside the
  934. 33:05home or something like that, um is this
  935. 33:08going to be at the expense of serving
  936. 33:09and helping your husband?
  937. 33:11Is it going to be at the are you are you
  938. 33:14getting are you going to have to hire a
  939. 33:16nanny to raise your children? Not her
  940. 33:18job. Your job. Your job to nurture your
  941. 33:21children and to disciple them. Okay,
  942. 33:23that's husband and wife together. But um
  943. 33:24the wife is the primary um in in the
  944. 33:28early years she is the nurturer and the
  945. 33:30primary disciper in some ways primary
  946. 33:32that's a probably the wrong word the
  947. 33:34husband is the primary discipler of the
  948. 33:35home but she has legitimate authority
  949. 33:38delegated authority under his authority
  950. 33:41um to raise and nurture the children.
  951. 33:43Okay? Nothing that she does should be at
  952. 33:45the expense of the children. So
  953. 33:47hopefully this is making sense to you
  954. 33:48guys. I'm I'm trying to lay out for you
  955. 33:50guys the biblical patriarchal
  956. 33:52uh relationship between men and women.
  957. 33:54And it's it's actually very common sense
  958. 33:56and it has been common sense for the
  959. 33:58entirety of human history. Let's get
  960. 33:59back to Mr. Chandler here. All right.
  961. 34:02Basically, I was just demonstrating that
  962. 34:04this quote is based and totally right.
  963. 34:07Oh, and and the idea that um okay,
  964. 34:10flexibility, it's not fitting
  965. 34:13uh it is not the fitting role of women
  966. 34:16to work alongside men as their
  967. 34:17functional equals in the public spheres
  968. 34:19of dominion. Absolutely, that is the
  969. 34:21case. It just is. All right. Um we're
  970. 34:24different. And whenever historically
  971. 34:27masculine spaces
  972. 34:29get invaded by women, it fundamentally
  973. 34:32changes them for the worse. For the
  974. 34:34worse. All right. Whenever those spaces,
  975. 34:37take for example government, civil
  976. 34:39government. Um, whenever those spaces
  977. 34:41are ordained by God to be led by men.
  978. 34:45WHAT ABOUT DEBORAH? WHAT ABOUT DEBORAH?
  979. 34:46OKAY. OKAY. YOU KNOW WHAT? We're just,
  980. 34:48while we're here, let's go to Deborah.
  981. 34:50All right. Let's go to Let's That would
  982. 34:51be Judges. I believe that would be
  983. 34:53Judges
  984. 34:5549, maybe. Here we are. Judges 49. We
  985. 35:00got Barack here. Not Obama. Different
  986. 35:03Barack. Let's go here.
  987. 35:06Okay.
  988. 35:08Barack said to Deborah, right? And and
  989. 35:11for those of you who aren't aware of
  990. 35:12Deborah, all the Christian feminists,
  991. 35:15hold up Deborah as the example for why
  992. 35:18women lead, why why women can lead in
  993. 35:21different spheres. Okay, let's let's see
  994. 35:23what Deborah says. Okay, Barack said to
  995. 35:25her, "If you will go with me, I will go.
  996. 35:28But if you will not go with me, I will
  997. 35:29not go." All right. To lead the the
  998. 35:31armies of Israel. And she said, "I will
  999. 35:33surely go with you." Okay, that's where
1000. 35:35we're at. I will surely go with you.
1001. 35:37Nevertheless, the road on which you are
1002. 35:39going will not lead to your glory, for
1003. 35:41the Lord will sell Cisora into the hands
1004. 35:43of a woman. Okay, so what is she doing
1005. 35:46here? Deborah herself is saying this
  1006. 35:48this isn't how it's supposed to be,
1007. 35:50right? You're supposed to like God has
  1008. 35:53reserved a pecu a peculiar glory for you
1009. 35:56as a man to lead to lead the armies of
1010. 35:58Israel and you're coming to me. Really,
1011. 36:01Deborah's leadership as a judge is an
  1012. 36:04indictment on the men. It's an
1013. 36:06indictment on the men to step up and
  1014. 36:08lead. That's what Deborah represents.
1015. 36:11Okay? God does use her. Absolutely. But
  1016. 36:14even Deborah says, "This isn't supposed
1017. 36:15to be my glory. It's supposed to be
1018. 36:16yours." All right. And this is not how
1019. 36:18God has commanded or this isn't how God
1020. 36:21made the world, right? This is wrong.
  1021. 36:23Basically, is what she's saying. So,
1022. 36:25anyway, let's keep going with Matt here.
1023. 36:27Uh, did I cover all that spheres? Yeah.
  1024. 36:30Yeah. We're different. We're different.
1025. 36:32And yeah. Yeah. We I think I've said it
1026. 36:34enough there. Now, do you see they're
1027. 36:36both doing the same thing? Like what's
1028. 36:38happening in Christian feminism is an
1029. 36:39overemphasis on women at the neglect of
1030. 36:42men. Men are to be questioned. They're
1031. 36:43not to be trusted. They'll use their
1032. 36:44power to oppress and destroy. And then
1033. 36:46those on the patriarchy side, I've got
  1034. 36:48no I'm looking at this. You're looking
1035. 36:49at on the patriarchy side of things.
1036. 36:50You've got women can't be trusted. Women
1037. 36:51can't. Women just need to stay at home
1038. 36:52and take care of the babies. I'm not
1039. 36:53even he So here we need to get into the
1040. 36:57difference between an assertion and an
1041. 36:59argument. Notice there has been no
1042. 37:01argument made. He read some quotes that
1043. 37:05were perfectly reasonable and then
1044. 37:07asserted that they are beyond the pale.
1045. 37:10No argument. And the reason you can make
1046. 37:13that assertion in this climate is
  1047. 37:14because we're all feminists. is because
1048. 37:17feminism is the air that we've breathed
1049. 37:20for so long that whenever he said he
1050. 37:22just just gives you that assertion,
1051. 37:24everyone in the audience just nods
1052. 37:26along. You might lose like six of the
1053. 37:28patriarchy bros in that church, but
1054. 37:31everyone else is like, "Oh, yeah, yeah,
  1055. 37:33totally, totally. Yeah, that is that's
1056. 37:35beyond the pale what Martin Luther said.
1057. 37:37Is it? I'm not in any way slandering
  1058. 37:40stay-at- home moms. What a beautiful
  1059. 37:41calling you've been given, but that's
1060. 37:42not the only calling you've been given."
1061. 37:45All right. Now wi with that said, let
1062. 37:47let's move into uh well, let's talk
1063. 37:48about this. How how does patriarchy view
1064. 37:50women in the church? Well, women are not
1065. 37:51permitted to be ordained. Voting rights
1066. 37:54are often deferred to the husband. Women
  1067. 37:55can't lead Bible studies, and they're
1068. 37:56not allowed to lead worship or speak
1069. 37:57publicly during the southern ga Sunday
  1070. 37:58gathering. In other words, they're
  1071. 38:00better seen than heard. They're better.
  1072. 38:01You see, what a Yeah. I mean, a bit of a
1073. 38:06straw man. Well, a rhetorical straw man
  1074. 38:08anyway, right? They're better seen, not
1075. 38:10heard. Well, that that is true in the
1076. 38:12context of the Sunday gathering. Um,
1077. 38:14women are to remain silent in all the
1078. 38:16churches. And no, and what Paul says
  1079. 38:18there in 1 Corinthians 11 or 14, I'd get
1080. 38:20them confused. Um, what Paul is saying
1081. 38:22there, he says, "This is not just a
1082. 38:25practice in Corinth. This is the
1083. 38:26practice in all the churches." in all
  1084. 38:29the churches and I realize the
  1085. 38:31counterarguments I talk about Philip's
1086. 38:32daughters and um prophesying and and
1087. 38:35that sort of thing but uh you
  1088. 38:37hermeneutically speaking so hermeneutics
1089. 38:39the principles of interpretation you
1090. 38:40always interpret the more ambiguous
1091. 38:44passage the harder to understand passage
1092. 38:45in light of the clearer passage all
1093. 38:47right and it is very very clear what the
1094. 38:50apostle Paul is doing and saying here
1095. 38:51he's saying that no uh when it comes to
1096. 38:53leadership in the church it is reserved
1097. 38:56for men not because we hate women, not
1098. 38:59because we don't like them. In fact, in
1099. 39:01a truly in a biblical patriarchy, within
1100. 39:04the biblical patriarchy model, women are
1101. 39:05treasured. They are valued. Come to my
1102. 39:08church to come to my church. You will
  1103. 39:10see well-watered women, well-watered
1104. 39:12vines bearing fruit, and it is so
1105. 39:15beautiful. It's so wonderful. And and by
  1106. 39:18and large, I mean, I can't see every
  1107. 39:19single heart, but I have enough
1108. 39:20conversations with enough of these women
1109. 39:22that all they want to do is honor God
1110. 39:25and then honor their and respect their
1111. 39:26husbands. I say all that they want to
  1112. 39:28do. Of course, we all Anyway, that's a
  1113. 39:30that that's a bit of a hyperbole, but
  1114. 39:32like generally speaking,
1115. 39:35that is the the ethos of my church and
1116. 39:38it's wonderful and you see it. There is
1117. 39:40there's a the women of my church are so
  1118. 39:43pleasant. Oh, it's just so great.
  1119. 39:45They're not loud. They're pleasant.
  1120. 39:48They're pleasant. Um, and they don't,
  1121. 39:51from what I can tell, I don't, like I
  1122. 39:52said, I don't see their hearts, but
1123. 39:53there's not, we don't see really any
1124. 39:55chafing against the prohibitions that we
1125. 39:57see in scripture that reserve peculiar
1126. 40:00glories for men and peculiar glories for
  1127. 40:02women. And that's because whenever you
1128. 40:04love whenever you like the psalmist say,
1129. 40:06"I delight in the law of God." You
1130. 40:09really do. You delight in it. You want
1131. 40:10to please God, right? Anyway, let's keep
1132. 40:13going here, brothers. The woke mind
1133. 40:15virus is not the only poison wreaking
1134. 40:17havoc on our mental health. Toxins,
1135. 40:20stress, and our modern diet drain your
1136. 40:22energy at the cellular level, leaving
1137. 40:24you foggy and tired when your family,
1138. 40:27your church, your community, and your
1139. 40:29country need you strongest. God has
1140. 40:32called you to be the man who stands
1141. 40:35firm, leads clearly, and gives
1142. 40:37everything for those in his care. But
1143. 40:39this fallen world attacks our bodies
1144. 40:42relentlessly. Your cells need help and
1145. 40:45methyline blue delivers the help that
1146. 40:47your cells actually need. As one of the
1147. 40:50most researched compounds in history,
  1148. 40:52methylane blue supports mitochondrial
1149. 40:54function at the source, restoring clean
1150. 40:57energy and sharp focus without crashes.
  1151. 41:00I've personally been using Neutra's Blue
1152. 41:02Boost, and the mitochondrial boost is
  1153. 41:05absolutely 100% real. Sustained drive, a
1154. 41:08clearer mind, and solid fuel for daily
  1155. 41:11leadership. Head over to
  1156. 41:12neutrascell.store/reformation
1157. 41:15and use code reformation for 10% off
1158. 41:18your next order. All right, listen up.
1159. 41:21If you are a Christian business owner,
1160. 41:22your website should not be a liability
1161. 41:24for you. It should be the welcome app.
1162. 41:26It should be the front door to your
  1163. 41:28amazing, incredible business. But
  1164. 41:31unfortunately, I've known so many
1165. 41:33Christian businesses whose website is,
1166. 41:35for lack of a better term, it is just a
  1167. 41:37wreck. It's a mess. Maybe that's you.
1168. 41:39You're invisible on Google. The user
1169. 41:41experience is unpleasant at best and you
1170. 41:44know the website just looks kind of meh.
1171. 41:46Page 50 exists to fix that. They are a
  1172. 41:50reformed Christian-owned business out of
1173. 41:52Louisiana run by my dear dear friend
1174. 41:54Steuart Amdon and they do marketing, web
1175. 41:57development, SEO, and content for
1176. 41:59serious business owners who actually
1177. 42:01want to win. Here's what they are doing
1178. 42:03for all of my RRP listeners. A full SEO
1179. 42:07audit on your website. No charge, no
1180. 42:09sales pitch, just the receipts on where
1181. 42:12you're bleeding traffic and what to do
1182. 42:13about it. So, go head over to
  1183. 42:16page50.comreadpill
  1184. 42:19and tell them that I sent you. That's
  1185. 42:21page50.com/redill.
1186. 42:24Better seen than heard. All right. Now,
1187. 42:26so, so that's going to take us off the
1188. 42:27edges and into the middle here. All
  1189. 42:29right. Egalitarianism. Now, egalitarians
  1190. 42:32argue that a fully authoritative Bible,
1191. 42:35all right, supports the freedom of women
1192. 42:37under Christ without male supervision to
  1193. 42:39follow their God-given callings and
1194. 42:41special gifts of the spirit, including
1195. 42:42the leadership ministries of elder and
1196. 42:44lead teachers. So, if you're like, well,
1197. 42:46that sounds a little bit like Christian
1198. 42:47feminism. There are massive differences
  1199. 42:48between Christian feminists and
  1200. 42:49egalitarians, here's the major one.
1201. 42:51Egalitarians want to argue from the
1202. 42:52Bible, whereas Christian feminists would
1203. 42:55be skeptical of the Bible. In fact,
1204. 42:57would argue culturally and not
1205. 42:58biblically. They would argue from pain,
  1206. 43:00not from truth.
1207. 43:03Egalitarians want to take us to the
  1208. 43:04book. And here's what's great about
1209. 43:06anyone wanting to take us to the book.
1210. 43:07We're people of the book. Let's get to
1211. 43:08the book. Right? We're people of the
1212. 43:10book. Yes. And amen. Let's get into that
  1213. 43:13word. But that's not the only
1214. 43:14difference. They they also Okay. Even
1215. 43:16there, what did you guys notice? Punch
1216. 43:19right gloves for the left. All right.
1217. 43:23And because he's going to come out as
  1218. 43:24complimentarianism or complimentarian.
1219. 43:27Uh so listen, this is there's a bit of
1220. 43:31nuance here, guys, and we don't need to
  1221. 43:32spend a lot of time here. We're already
  1222. 43:3340 minutes in.
  1223. 43:35So egalitarians,
  1224. 43:38uh
1225. 43:40they I believe that there are a lot of
  1226. 43:42Christian egalitarians, a lot of
1227. 43:44Christians who really love the Lord,
1228. 43:45really truly love the Lord, and I'll see
1229. 43:47them in heaven, but they are they are
1230. 43:49gravely gravely wrong. Like very wrong,
1231. 43:53and detrimentally so. um all of the egal
1232. 43:57now we've got to get this is important
1233. 43:59this is an important distinction guys we
1234. 44:01are talking about theological categories
1235. 44:03when it comes to theological feminism
  1236. 44:06theological egalitarianism theological
  1237. 44:09complimentarianism and theological
1238. 44:11patriarchy so these are theological
  1239. 44:13categories that's important because
1240. 44:16egalitarianism and feminism are much
  1241. 44:19broader than these theological
  1242. 44:21categories that we're speaking in right
1243. 44:23now and in fact, they're at the root of
1244. 44:27all our evils in our society.
  1245. 44:30Egalitarianism,
1246. 44:32I would put egalitarianism at just about
1247. 44:34the the rock bottom, the bedrock of all
1248. 44:37of our societal ills and woes. Um, and
1249. 44:40feminism is built on the lie of
1250. 44:42egalitarianism. The idea that all people
1251. 44:44are equal, that all people are equal.
1252. 44:47We're not. We are all equal in one sense
1253. 44:50and that is we are equal in dignity and
1254. 44:52worth as imagebearers before holy God.
  1255. 44:54All right? That's that's that's
1256. 44:55basically the only way that we're equal
1257. 44:57in every single other conceivable way.
  1258. 45:00Human beings aren't equal. Groups of
  1259. 45:02people, ethnicities, races, they're not
  1260. 45:04equal. They're different. They're
  1261. 45:05different. They have different
  1262. 45:06strengths, different weaknesses,
  1263. 45:07different sins that they're prone to.
1264. 45:08Every individual is like that. Every
1265. 45:10family is like that. Every group, race,
1266. 45:12ethnicity, tribe is like that. All
1267. 45:14right. Egalitarianism is a lie from the
1268. 45:16pit of hell. that any ideology that
1269. 45:18roots its anthropology or even its
1270. 45:21theology in it is rooted in lies. So
  1271. 45:24theological egalitarianism is also
1272. 45:26rooted in lies. Um that being said,
1273. 45:29there are people who fall into that
1274. 45:31camp. I do believe we will see them in
1275. 45:32heaven. They're just very very wrong and
1276. 45:34they are deceived by the spirit of the
  1277. 45:35age because theological egalitarianism
  1278. 45:37is a a historical no novelty. I mean
1279. 45:40it's right there. It it came about. It
1280. 45:42is the result of feminism. It's the
  1281. 45:45result of feminism. I realize we're
  1282. 45:46getting a little confused because the
1283. 45:48difference in the theological categories
1284. 45:49versus kind of the ideological or
  1285. 45:51philosophical categories, but anyway,
1286. 45:54it's bad. Let's just see if uh if I uh
  1287. 45:58let's just keep going. Let's see if I
1288. 45:59want to say anything else here. They
1289. 46:00also are not suspicious of male
1290. 46:02leadership as long as there are no rooms
1291. 46:06that are off limits to women. So, they
1292. 46:07would rejoice in male eldership as long
1293. 46:10as there could be female eldership. They
1294. 46:11would rejoice in male Sunday morning
1295. 46:13preaching as long as there could be
1296. 46:14female Sunday morning preaching. Right?
1297. 46:16They would argue from the Bible and they
1298. 46:17would not be suspicious of men and
1299. 46:19leadership as long as they are held in
1300. 46:20check by women. Right? And then most
  1301. 46:23egalitarians reject the pro-choice
1302. 46:25movement and uphold the biblical
1303. 46:26definition of marriage as being between
1304. 46:27one man and one woman. Here's their
  1305. 46:29theological case, right? Um that they're
1306. 46:31going to argue that the point of Genesis
1307. 46:331 and two is oneness, right? They're
1308. 46:35going to read those same verses. In
  1309. 46:37fact, across this spectrum, everybody's
  1310. 46:38living in Genesis 1, 2, and 3, right?
1311. 46:40Right? So, they're going to look at
  1312. 46:41Genesis 1 and 2, those same verses we
1313. 46:43just read. And God made them in his
1314. 46:44image, male and female. He created and
1315. 46:46gave them dominion. And they're going to
1316. 46:47say, "No, no, the whole point of the
1317. 46:49creator order is that the man and woman
1318. 46:50were created as one." And then they're
1319. 46:53going to fly through to Galatians 3 in
1320. 46:56uh the New Testament. They're going to
1321. 46:57point out uh the teaching of Paul to the
1322. 46:58church at Galatia where he says,
1323. 46:59"There's no longer neither male or
  1324. 47:01female." Right. Yeah. Yeah.
1325. 47:03>> Male or female, for you are all one in
1326. 47:06Christ Jesus. I don't know if he gets to
1327. 47:08this, but that is so teological. That is
1328. 47:09not denying the the essential
1329. 47:11distinction in our natures between the
1330. 47:13sexes. All right? It's we are all one in
1331. 47:15Christ Jesus. We are all equally uh
1332. 47:19equally damned apart from Christ, but
1333. 47:20equally saved in Christ. All right? So,
1334. 47:22we all have equal access to salvation by
  1335. 47:26grace alone through faith alone. They're
1336. 47:28going to argue that what we see in
  1337. 47:29Genesis 3:16, let's go check that out
  1338. 47:31together.
1339. 47:34this concept of male headship or the
1340. 47:36authority of man that that is a result
1341. 47:38of sin entering the world and was in no
  1342. 47:40part of God's original design for
  1343. 47:42humankind.
1344. 47:43>> Yeah. Just like the feminists. Yeah.
1345. 47:44They I think we already outlined this um
1346. 47:47that uh the fall whenever it the one of
1347. 47:51the the curses the results of the fall
1348. 47:54is that your desire will be for your
1349. 47:56husband and he will rule over you. So,
1350. 47:58they're going to argue that that
1351. 47:59patriarchy, just like the feminists
1352. 48:01argue, that patriarchy is the result of
1353. 48:03the vault. Um, rather than acknowledging
1354. 48:06that it's literally baked into the way,
1355. 48:08the fabric of creation, God created Adam
1356. 48:11first and then Eve out of Adam as his
1357. 48:13helpmate. I mean, you just have to
1358. 48:15ignore the text. Um, and not only that,
1359. 48:17but I the death nail in my view for
  1360. 48:20theological egalitarianism and feminism
  1361. 48:23is this.
1362. 48:25Who through whom did sin enter the
  1363. 48:27world? That's the question.
1364. 48:30Adam. We know this. Uh Romans spells
1365. 48:34this out explicitly. Adam. Even though
1366. 48:36who sinned first? It was Eve. Eve
1367. 48:39sinned. But sin did not enter the world
1368. 48:41through Eve. It entered through Adam
1369. 48:43because he was the federal head. He was
1370. 48:45the one responsible. Okay? He was the
1371. 48:48And then of course Christ as the second
1372. 48:50Adam comes to redeem and restore
1373. 48:51creation. Um, but God did not hold Eve
1374. 48:54responsible. He held Adam. Why? Because
  1375. 48:57he had authority.
1376. 48:59Because he was to rule his home. Which
1377. 49:01is why in the thumbnail you saw um that
1378. 49:03men rule. Men rule. That doesn't mean
1379. 49:05men rule, women rule, boys rule, girls
  1380. 49:07rule. That's not what I'm saying here.
1381. 49:09The word patriarchy simply means father
1382. 49:12rule. Potter. And then so yeah, father
1383. 49:14rule. And men are designed to rule in
1384. 49:19the household, in the civil sphere, and
1385. 49:22in the church. God has designed the
1386. 49:24world to work this way. Whenever we push
1387. 49:27against that, when we kick against the
1388. 49:28goats, we are pressing back. We are
1389. 49:31chafing against God himself, against the
1390. 49:34way that he made the world. And it will
1391. 49:36have deletarious effects for society to
1392. 49:39say the least. And we're seeing this all
1393. 49:41over the place. Seeing this all over the
1394. 49:43place. So see if there's anything else
1395. 49:45we want to get to here.
1396. 49:46>> So let's look at this is the pain in
1397. 49:48childbearing and are the same. They
  1398. 49:51argue oneness. They argue
1399. 49:52>> yeah we should probably get into his
  1400. 49:54complimentarian case since you know I
1401. 49:56put it in the the title. Okay.
1402. 49:58>> Head shifter more of a kind of paper,
  1403. 50:01you know, he's talking about theological
  1404. 50:02egalitarianism. It's just feminism
  1405. 50:04light. They're No, that's not fair. The
1406. 50:06feminists are are truly evil. the
  1407. 50:08theological egalitarianisms based their
1408. 50:10theology out of a feministic approach to
1409. 50:13the world um and to truth and the Bible.
1410. 50:16But I I think that many of them really
1411. 50:19love the Lord. But the slippery slope is
1412. 50:21real. Whenever you ordain women within a
1413. 50:24few years, decades at best, you're going
  1414. 50:26to be ordaining
  1415. 50:28um the Sodommites
1416. 50:30view of things. We go, "Yeah, but
  1417. 50:31Deborah's in a leader in a season in
1418. 50:34which man, it was the worst time in
1419. 50:35Israel's history." So surely yeah,
1420. 50:37>> oh we got Deborah. We're talking
  1421. 50:38Deborah. Let's see what he's saying.
1422. 50:39>> I think those in on more of a kind of
1423. 50:40patriarchal kind of view of things
1424. 50:42really argue with biblical testimony. So
1425. 50:44in the Old Testament, Esther was
  1426. 50:46instrumental in protecting God's people.
1427. 50:47Deborah served as a judge, the highest
1428. 50:49office of that day, sans prophet and
1429. 50:51priest. And so often times like uh I
1430. 50:54think those in on more of a kind of
1431. 50:56patriarchal kind of view of things will
  1432. 50:57go, "Yeah, Deborah's in a leader in a
1433. 51:00season in which man, it was the worst
  1434. 51:01time in Israel's history. So surely
1435. 51:02we're not going to look at that as
1436. 51:03normative." Listen, not not no it's not
1437. 51:05because it was the worst time in
  1438. 51:07Israel's history. It's because it's not
1439. 51:08normative. We we have like no other
1440. 51:10examples. We have sparingly few examples
1441. 51:13of women in any kind of leadership and
1442. 51:15they are always in extinuating
1443. 51:16circumstances which tells us that God
1444. 51:18has a normative way of uh yeah of
1445. 51:23ordering society, ordering the church,
1446. 51:25ordering the family and in certain
  1447. 51:28extenduating circumstances he utilizes a
1448. 51:30woman. As we saw, even Deborah was
1449. 51:34essentially saying to Barack, "This
  1450. 51:36ain't how it's supposed to go."
1451. 51:38>> That I think that argument backfires.
  1452. 51:39Like, if God's going, "This is a train
1453. 51:41wreck. Let me put a woman up at that."
1454. 51:43That's saying something else, right?
  1455. 51:45>> No, it's not. That as I said,
1456. 51:48uh, Deborah serves as an indictment on
1457. 51:52the men. Where were the men specifically
1458. 51:54on Barack? But, uh, anyway, we already
  1459. 51:57made that case.
  1460. 51:57>> It's just so dumb. That's so blinded.
1461. 51:59They're going to make an argument that
1462. 52:00actually erodess their position, not
  1463. 52:01strengthens it. It's not an argument
1464. 52:03that needs to be made. Deborah was a
1465. 52:04judge. She's actually pretty good at it.
1466. 52:07You've got prophets such as Miriam and
1467. 52:09Holda. And then in the New Testament, we
1468. 52:11see women active in the life of the
  1469. 52:12church. In 1 Corinthians 11, women serve
1470. 52:14in prayer and prophesying in the public
  1471. 52:16gathering. In Philippians 4, we have
  1472. 52:17women.
  1473. 52:18>> I think he's still outlining the
1474. 52:19egalitarian position. All right. Now,
  1475. 52:21let's get into complimentarianism. I,
1476. 52:23you know, guys, I realize that this is
  1477. 52:25an old video and but I I watched a few
  1478. 52:28videos recently from him. I don't think
1479. 52:29his positions have really changed. So, I
1480. 52:32could be wrong about that. If someone
1481. 52:33wants to correct me, please let me know.
  1482. 52:34I I will gladly, you know, issue a
  1483. 52:36correction of some kind.
1484. 52:37>> We've got our own issues, right? So, let
1485. 52:38me new slide complimentarianism. And
  1486. 52:41what we're saying in complimentarianism
1487. 52:42is we are um distinct from one another
1488. 52:44but dependent upon one another, right?
  1489. 52:46Distinct and dependent. what we're
1490. 52:47trying to do uh is we're we're trying to
1491. 52:49move to this place where
1492. 52:52>> by the way and you know I'll keep saying
1493. 52:54this but we believe the same thing
1494. 52:57within the patriarchal camp we just uh
1495. 53:00believe it better neither is
1496. 53:03overemphasized and both mutually respect
1497. 53:06and understand right and so here's how
1498. 53:07complimentarism will play out in its
1499. 53:09practicalities not its belief a lot of
  1500. 53:11people that say we're we're
1501. 53:12complimentarians but act far more uh
1502. 53:13like those in the patriarchy camp or
  1503. 53:15they're going to say they're
1504. 53:16complimentarians but actually far more
  1505. 53:17like egalitarians.
1506. 53:18>> Now, this is important. Essentially,
  1507. 53:21complimentarianism is such a squishy
1508. 53:23term that it basically means patriarchy
1509. 53:26for some people and basically means
  1510. 53:28egalitarianism for others. It's like a
1511. 53:29nonsense word because of that because
1512. 53:31you can just say I'm complimentarian and
1513. 53:34you know, basically everything that you
  1514. 53:36functionally do and practice
1515. 53:40falls into the egalitarian camp. But
  1516. 53:41anyway, we'll get there, right? So,
1517. 53:42here's here's kind of what we came up
1518. 53:44with. Um there are careful
  1519. 53:46complimentarians, right? That they're
1520. 53:47nervous about this issue, right? So
1521. 53:49like, oh my gosh, you know, I know I
  1522. 53:50know that's just a gray area, so let's
1523. 53:52just air on being conservative, right?
1524. 53:54Yeah, I can kind of see that in the
1525. 53:55text. I kind of see your point, but man,
1526. 53:56if we do that this slippery slope, I
1527. 53:59won't be long. We'll be baptizing cats
1528. 54:00and then what are we going to do once
  1529. 54:01the church becomes that, right? They're
  1530. 54:03just nervous,
1531. 54:05careful. That is he that is a that is
1532. 54:07he's a master of framing. All right. So
1533. 54:10the the far right of even the
  1534. 54:12complimentarian space, they're the
  1535. 54:14careful. They're being too careful.
1536. 54:16That's it. Just being too careful.
1537. 54:19But the real like the the good stuff is
1538. 54:22over there on the left on convinced.
1539. 54:23>> We don't want to be careful
  1540. 54:24complimentary.
  1541. 54:25>> Complimentarian.
1542. 54:25>> We want to be convinced.
  1543. 54:27>> Convinced complimentarian.
1544. 54:28>> We want to be convinced. We want to
1545. 54:29operate in the spaces that God has
1546. 54:30created as we celebrate being distinct
1547. 54:33and dependent from one another. Right?
1548. 54:34Never mind the fact that that this the
1549. 54:37space that you're operating in is not
1550. 54:40only foreign to the pages of scripture.
  1551. 54:41Okay. No, that's not fair, right?
1552. 54:43They're trying to make scriptural
  1553. 54:44arguments. I get that. Um but it's
  1554. 54:47foreign to let's let's say church
  1555. 54:48history. I mean the modern non-in guy
  1556. 54:50the modern Baptist I'm sorry Baptist I
  1557. 54:54know I got a lot of Baptist in the who I
1558. 54:55love who I love. um but is almost
1559. 55:00completely divorced from church history
1560. 55:03and everything over there in egalitarian
1561. 55:06world and in the convinced
1562. 55:08complimentarianism world which is just
1563. 55:10on the far left end of the spectrum of
1564. 55:11complimentarianism which lets women lead
1565. 55:14and worship and do all of all of that is
1566. 55:16basically foreign to church history. All
  1567. 55:18right. And uh I am increasingly
1568. 55:21convinced that just like the reformers
1569. 55:23we need to be plugged into tradition to
1570. 55:26history. It is not our primary
1571. 55:28authority. We are Protestants after all.
1572. 55:30But it is an important authority. So see
1573. 55:33here, right? I just want to celebrate
1574. 55:34this and rejoice in this. God's good
1575. 55:36gift to us. And so let's talk about uh
1576. 55:38where the village church lands and then
1577. 55:39we'll talk about what you can expect.
1578. 55:41This is Sam Storms, just a friend of
1579. 55:43mine and and just one of the smarter men
1580. 55:45I've ever been around. Men and women are
1581. 55:47together created in the divine image and
1582. 55:49are therefore equal before God as
1583. 55:51persons possessing the same moral
1584. 55:53dignity and value and have equal access
1585. 55:56to God through faith in Christ. Men and
1586. 55:58women are together the recipients of
1587. 56:00spiritual gifts designed to empower them
1588. 56:02for ministry in the local church and
1589. 56:03beyond. Therefore, women are to be
  1590. 56:06encouraged, equipped, empowered to
1591. 56:08utilize their gifting in ministry, in
1592. 56:10service to the body of Christ, and
1593. 56:11through teaching in ways that are
1594. 56:13consistent with the word of God. This
1595. 56:15principle of male headship should not be
1596. 56:17confused with nor give any hint of
1597. 56:20doineering control. Rather, it is to be
1598. 56:23loving, tender, and nurturing care of a
1599. 56:25godly man who is himself under the kind
1600. 56:28of gentle authority of Jesus Christ. The
1601. 56:30elders and pastors of each local church
1602. 56:33have been granted authority under the
1603. 56:35headship of Jesus Christ to provide
1604. 56:38oversight and to teach preach the word
1605. 56:39of God in corporate assembly for the
1606. 56:41building up of the body. The office of
1607. 56:43elder and pastor is restricted to men.
1608. 56:46Now let me make the theological case
1609. 56:47here. Okay. Um we would agree with the
1610. 56:50egalitarians quickly that God has
1611. 56:52created us in his image. Male and female
1612. 56:55he creates. We would agree with the
1613. 56:56egalitarians because they agree with the
1614. 56:58Bible that we have been given dominion
1615. 57:00over the creative order and then very
1616. 57:01quickly we start to disagree on some
1617. 57:03things and I want to walk you through
1618. 57:04that. Now, first of all, let me let me
  1619. 57:05establish this because I think it's so
1620. 57:07helpful for us to see this in light of
1621. 57:08what it is. At creation, you have the
1622. 57:11man made in the image of God. You got
1623. 57:13this kind of adilic like old school
1624. 57:14Marboral commercial. All right, the
1625. 57:16world is wild. The man is there. He may
1626. 57:19or may not be on the back of a horse
1627. 57:20with a Winchester rifle looking out at
1628. 57:22rugged planes. Maybe a dip in, probably
1629. 57:25not. uh send out into the world, want to
1630. 57:26get his face all eaten up with cancer.
1631. 57:28He's looking out at it. And so God looks
1632. 57:30at this most masculine of men and says,
  1633. 57:31"Yeah, this ain't good."
  1634. 57:35He says, "Yeah, see,
  1635. 57:38all right. This is why we're losing. I,
  1636. 57:41you know, I didn't catch this. I don't
1637. 57:43know if I watched this part before, but
  1638. 57:44like
  1639. 57:46it's uh I used this illustration
  1640. 57:49yesterday, other day before, but it's
1641. 57:51it's all of your jibes and jokes all
1642. 57:54kind of go in one direction. And it's
1643. 57:58it's making a mockery of the trappings
1644. 58:01of masculinity. And notice how you say
1645. 58:02the trappings, not the essence of
1646. 58:04masculinity. Like the essence of
  1647. 58:06masculinity is um I like Doug Wilson's
1648. 58:10definition really well. the glad
  1649. 58:11assumption of sacrificial
1650. 58:12responsibility. Um men are designed to
1651. 58:15lead. God has given them responsibility
1652. 58:17and they are to lovingly sacrificially
1653. 58:19lead. Um and that and that's important.
1654. 58:22But uh so that's the essence. But then
1655. 58:25there's the trappings of masculinity
1656. 58:26which all right guys break it down for
1657. 58:28me. You know I get accused of laring me
1658. 58:31laring with my pipe. Are you kidding me?
  1659. 58:34Me? Okay. Let's talk about that for a
  1660. 58:36second.
  1661. 58:37Um, well, I I didn't start smoking a
1662. 58:40pipe because uh for this podcast. I've
1663. 58:43been smoking a pipe for 15 years, but it
1664. 58:44is a it is kind of a bit, right? It is
1665. 58:46kind of a gimmick. It is fun. I like
1666. 58:49doing it. I've been doing it for a long
1667. 58:50time, but it is kind of like that. Uh,
  1668. 58:53it is a little bit gimmicky. Let's just
1669. 58:55say it like that. And it's playing into
1670. 58:59a very old school traditional kind of
1671. 59:01masculinity. I get that, right? And even
1672. 59:03the brown suit with the kind of the
1673. 59:05brown tie, the books in in the
  1674. 59:07background, people, oh, he's laring. And
1675. 59:08you know what? That's there is some
1676. 59:10truth to that. There is some truth to
1677. 59:11that. Um, young men, it's good for for
1678. 59:15young men to lar a little bit. It's good
  1679. 59:17men, it's it's it's good for young men
1680. 59:19to uh start taking on some of the
1681. 59:22trappings so long as they are pursuing
  1682. 59:24the essence of masculinity.
1683. 59:26If as you start to take on the trappings
1684. 59:29while you pursue the essence, it all
1685. 59:31kind of starts to come together.
1686. 59:33You know, you start wearing cowboy boots
  1687. 59:35even though you've never worn cowboy
1688. 59:36boots and you're like, you start to do
1689. 59:37it and you're like, "This is kind of I
  1690. 59:39don't know. Is this me? I don't know. I
1691. 59:40you know, I used to wear skinny jeans,
1692. 59:42but you start to then all of a sudden it
1693. 59:43starts to wait. Yeah, this this actually
1694. 59:45this is right. This is good." Right? You
1695. 59:47fake it till you make it in a lot of
  1696. 59:49places. And it's actually good. It's
1697. 59:50actually good to fake it till you make
  1698. 59:51it a lot of times because we weren't
1699. 59:54taught how to be men.
1700. 59:57That's just them's the facts. Um we used
1701. 1:00:00to have organizations and mechanisms in
1702. 1:00:04society that kind of naturally initiated
1703. 1:00:07men. Well, different generations had
1704. 1:00:08different, you know, uh, catalytic,
1705. 1:00:12whether it be institutions or, um,
1706. 1:00:15events, whether that be wars or clubs
1707. 1:00:18or, um, all male spaces, barber shops,
1708. 1:00:22whatever it is that uh, initiated men,
1709. 1:00:26boys into into becoming men in society,
1710. 1:00:29all those have been gone. all our all
1711. 1:00:30those male spaces that would um kind of
1712. 1:00:33naturally initiate men into masculinity,
1713. 1:00:36they're gone. And all of the examples
1714. 1:00:40for being a man have been feminized
1715. 1:00:44completely, right? And uh so men are
  1716. 1:00:48just looking. They're where do I where
1717. 1:00:49do I look? Where do I look? And so you
1718. 1:00:52know what I started doing? I cut my long
1719. 1:00:55hair and I grew out my mustache and I
1720. 1:00:59started putting on a suit jacket and
1721. 1:01:00tucking in my shirt and wearing a tie
1722. 1:01:02more often. And you know what? Now it's
1723. 1:01:04it feels right. I've been doing it for a
1724. 1:01:06few years now. Wearing a tie on Sunday
1725. 1:01:09to church, putting on your church
  1726. 1:01:10clothes. All right. It's actually
1727. 1:01:12valuable uh to to LARP. And I realize
1728. 1:01:16this is a little bit of a tangent, but
  1729. 1:01:17it's important. It's important because
  1730. 1:01:19young men are looking they're looking
1731. 1:01:21for someone and something to look to and
1732. 1:01:23the examples they're being given are all
1733. 1:01:25just like so like fake and gay, you
1734. 1:01:28know, the the evangelical culture, this
1735. 1:01:30big EVA culture, this complimentarian
1736. 1:01:32culture like has so much it like it feel
1737. 1:01:36it I'm not trying to be mean, but like
1738. 1:01:39oftentimes just is kind of gay. And I
  1739. 1:01:42mean I don't mean gay that's lame. I
1740. 1:01:44mean like even down to the music that we
1741. 1:01:46sing that like Jesus is my boyfriend
1742. 1:01:48songs and even the way the songs are
1743. 1:01:51sung are designed to uh emotionally
1744. 1:01:54manipulate you which is kind of a
  1745. 1:01:55feminine thing. The emotional
1746. 1:01:57manipulation side of things and men are
1747. 1:01:59just tired of it. They're tired of that.
1748. 1:02:02They're looking for something to do.
  1749. 1:02:04They're looking for Yeah. I Well, like I
1750. 1:02:07said, sometimes you got to fake it till
1751. 1:02:08you make it. But yeah, I do this on
  1752. 1:02:10purpose. Okay. And as I've done it, it's
1753. 1:02:14become natural. And it's kind of cool.
1754. 1:02:16Kind of cool how that works because I am
1755. 1:02:17pursuing the essence of the thing, not
  1756. 1:02:19just the trappings. If you're just
  1757. 1:02:20pursuing the trappings, it's you're you
  1758. 1:02:22are lame. That's dumb, right? You're
  1759. 1:02:24you're uh if you're not taking
1760. 1:02:26responsibility in your life. One of my
1761. 1:02:28favorite quotes is uh authority graas.
1762. 1:02:33Authority flows to the man who takes
1763. 1:02:36responsibility and it flees from the man
  1764. 1:02:39who sherks his responsibility.
1765. 1:02:41Do you make excuses? Are you the kind of
1766. 1:02:43man who takes responsibility for his for
1767. 1:02:46his people, for his place?
  1768. 1:02:49So anyway, that's a little diet. Are you
  1769. 1:02:51watching porn?
1770. 1:02:53Huh? I'm I'm talking to you. And if you
1771. 1:02:55are, are you confessed it or is it a
1772. 1:02:58secret sin in your life? You want to
1773. 1:03:00talk about something that will rob you
  1774. 1:03:01of your masculinity?
1775. 1:03:04Porn is gay. All right. Don't. Hey, this
  1776. 1:03:07is I I don't know why I thought of this,
1777. 1:03:08but like if if that's you, get help
1778. 1:03:11today. Get accountability, get, you
1779. 1:03:13know, get an app, get covenantized, get
1780. 1:03:15whatever it takes. Confess to your
1781. 1:03:17pastor, your wife, whoever. Stop. Stop
  1782. 1:03:19it. Okay.
  1783. 1:03:22Um, patriarchy. We're losing the men.
1784. 1:03:25What else? What else? All right. We'll
1785. 1:03:27see. We You guys have been here for an
  1786. 1:03:28hour, maybe if you're still listening.
  1787. 1:03:30Um, I don't know. I I I I realize
1788. 1:03:32there's a lot of young men who listen to
1789. 1:03:34my podcast now and I I'm trying to take
  1790. 1:03:37that responsibility seriously. So, let's
1791. 1:03:40just finish here and uh we'll wrap it
1792. 1:03:41up. Says, "It's not good for the man to
1793. 1:03:45be alone." And then he says, "And this
1794. 1:03:46this so causes bristling and I'll never
1795. 1:03:48understand why it causes bristling." And
  1796. 1:03:49some like, "Cuz you're a man?" But no,
1797. 1:03:51let me explain. He he says, "It's not
1798. 1:03:53good for man to be alone. I want
  1799. 1:03:55>> Oh, yeah. That's what I was saying.
1800. 1:03:56Yeah. He was making fun of the Marbor
1801. 1:03:58man, you know, like the the Winchester
1802. 1:04:00guy. and he said, "Oh, that's not good."
1803. 1:04:02That Wow, that was a long diet tribe.
1804. 1:04:04Thanks for sticking with me, guys, for
1805. 1:04:05that diet tribe. No, I think it was good
1806. 1:04:07stuff, though. Good stuff. Um, again,
  1807. 1:04:09this is why we're losing the men. He's
  1808. 1:04:11he's he's caricaturing he's he's taking
1809. 1:04:13these caricatures of masculinity that
1810. 1:04:15have the trappings of masculinity, which
1811. 1:04:16is why I went on this whole diet tribe
1812. 1:04:18to begin with, and he's kind of
  1813. 1:04:19denigrating it. Oh, that's not good.
1814. 1:04:22That's not why it wasn't good for man to
1815. 1:04:23be alone. It wasn't good for man to be
1816. 1:04:25alone. We know why. Because it takes two
1817. 1:04:26to tango, to be fruitful and multiply.
1818. 1:04:30Okay. Uh to take dominion, he needed
1819. 1:04:32help, right? It's not because he was
1820. 1:04:35just too masculine or he was, you know,
  1821. 1:04:37too stereotypically masculine, Clint
1822. 1:04:39Eastwood, whatever. Um we need more John
1823. 1:04:42Waynees, okay? We need men who like
1824. 1:04:46display masculine virtue and gravitas
1825. 1:04:49and actually do, you know, who aren't
1826. 1:04:51just like overly emotive and you know,
1827. 1:04:54there some stoicism is good. All right.
1828. 1:04:57And so, you know, men shouldn't cry all
  1829. 1:05:00the time. I'm not saying it's bad to
  1830. 1:05:01cry. I I'm I'm kind of a I cry when
  1831. 1:05:03something is glorious and beautiful. I
1832. 1:05:05get those I like uh shed those man tears
1833. 1:05:08for the glory of it and the beauty of
1834. 1:05:09it. But when it comes to like hardship
1835. 1:05:11and sadness, like you you shouldn't cry
1836. 1:05:14all the time. You shouldn't be tender.
1837. 1:05:17We should be tender. We should be King
1838. 1:05:19Lon from uh from Narnia, right? like
  1839. 1:05:22laughing loudest displaying like I like
  1840. 1:05:25the that's why you know I can't help it
1841. 1:05:27but like whenever something is truly
1842. 1:05:28spiritually glorious like it just moves
1843. 1:05:31me to tears that's great but you need to
1844. 1:05:34be sturdy for your people right if
  1845. 1:05:36you're crying because you're anxious or
  1846. 1:05:38you're sad like it's one thing at a
  1847. 1:05:40funeral your father's funeral whatever
1848. 1:05:42like that's there there are called for
1849. 1:05:44times of it but what what I'm getting at
1850. 1:05:46is um we live in this hyper authenticity
1851. 1:05:49age that says you should always just
  1852. 1:05:51display whatever you're feeling. And
1853. 1:05:52that's actually not true. Like men, your
1854. 1:05:55people need you to be strong. Need you
1855. 1:05:58to be strong and not just cry whenever
1856. 1:06:01you know the fancy strikes you. Okay. Um
  1857. 1:06:04anyway, don't hear what I'm not saying.
1858. 1:06:06I'm not saying that real men never cry,
1859. 1:06:08but real men cry less than women. That's
  1860. 1:06:10for sure. That's for sure. So, we're
  1861. 1:06:13different. We're different.
1862. 1:06:16Were suitable for him. And then what did
1863. 1:06:19God do for the man? And it's not that he
1864. 1:06:20didn't give him a golden retriever, went
1865. 1:06:21a label. It wasn't he wanted some kind
1866. 1:06:24of new machine that was going to help
1867. 1:06:25him fulfill the plans God has for him.
  1868. 1:06:27It was a woman, a helpmate. And don't
1869. 1:06:30bristle onto that word because if you
1870. 1:06:31start to think about that is the same
1871. 1:06:32Hebrew word used for God helping his
1872. 1:06:35people. Right? So here I want to try to
  1873. 1:06:37shift maybe how you're thinking about
  1874. 1:06:38being a helpmate to a man.
  1875. 1:06:40>> All right. I we've gone too long. He's
1876. 1:06:43outlining basically like the the squishy
  1877. 1:06:46complimentarianism that uh
  1878. 1:06:49that doesn't that does see differences
1879. 1:06:52between men and women, right? That he
1880. 1:06:54would affirm that men uh are to be
1881. 1:06:56leaders in the church. Well, you know, I
1882. 1:06:58think we could summarize it like this.
1883. 1:07:01He would say that yes, the bi because
1884. 1:07:03the Bible clearly teaches men are only
1885. 1:07:05to lead in church and men are the only
1886. 1:07:08ones who are to lead in the home. But
1887. 1:07:11even the way he would outline that would
1888. 1:07:13be like the way you lead is just by
1889. 1:07:14constantly serving like you be you
1890. 1:07:16basically are to be a doormat for your
1891. 1:07:18wife which is not true. In fact the
1892. 1:07:20whole idea of servant leadership have
1893. 1:07:22you guys heard this term servant
1894. 1:07:23leadership this was a big thing like
1895. 1:07:25five six seven years ago servant
1896. 1:07:27leadership and basically what uh what
1897. 1:07:30leading what that being the head of your
1898. 1:07:32household means is that uh you do the
1899. 1:07:35dishes for your wife all the time. Don't
1900. 1:07:37get me wrong, it's good to serve your
1901. 1:07:39wife and do the dishes for her, you
  1902. 1:07:41know, but it's interesting though
1903. 1:07:43because that implies that there is a
1904. 1:07:45domain that's hers like doing the dishes
1905. 1:07:46is kind of a feminine task. I think that
1906. 1:07:48that's probably true. Keeping the home
1907. 1:07:50in general and men, when you want to
1908. 1:07:52serve your wife and help her, you can do
1909. 1:07:53that. But the way that you serve your
1910. 1:07:56family is not by doing the dishes. It's
  1911. 1:07:57by leading, by being decisive. It's
  1912. 1:08:00about being a protector, being a
  1913. 1:08:02provider.
1914. 1:08:04You serve them by leading, by ruling
1915. 1:08:06well. And and if you're bristling at
  1916. 1:08:10rulership, if you're a lady and you hear
  1917. 1:08:12that and you're like, you hear he's like
1918. 1:08:14the king of the castle. Yes, he is the
1919. 1:08:16king of the castle. And I'll go a step
1920. 1:08:18further. Women, you are to obey your
1921. 1:08:19husbands. Wives. Now, women are not to
1922. 1:08:21obey men. Generally speaking, wives are
1923. 1:08:23to obey their husbands. We see this in
  1924. 1:08:25Ephesians chapter 6, I'm sorry, five.
1925. 1:08:29But we also see this very plainly. You
1926. 1:08:32might say, "No, it says wives respect
1927. 1:08:33your husbands." Well, let's go over here
  1928. 1:08:35to
  1929. 1:08:38where are we? 1 Peter 3 4.
1930. 1:08:43Just as Sarah obeyed. Here we go. You
1931. 1:08:46see that? Obeyed Abraham calling him
  1932. 1:08:48what? Calling him Whoops.
1933. 1:08:52Okay. Calling him Lord. It says Sarah
1934. 1:08:55obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. So the
1935. 1:08:58whole the whole uh verse is for this is
1936. 1:09:01how the holy women who hoped in God used
1937. 1:09:04to adorn themselves by submitting to
  1938. 1:09:06their own husbands. There's that
  1939. 1:09:07submission piece. That's the word that's
1940. 1:09:08often used. But then he takes it a step
1941. 1:09:11further, lays it out very plainly as
1942. 1:09:13Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord.
1943. 1:09:17All right. Wives, you are to obey your
1944. 1:09:20husbands as unto the Lord in all things.
1945. 1:09:23Right? Unless he's calling you to sin,
1946. 1:09:25you are to obey your husband. In fact,
1947. 1:09:29my wife and I years ago, we started
1948. 1:09:31praying that at night. And I'll tell
1949. 1:09:32you, it was hard. It was kind of awkward
1950. 1:09:34at first to say, and I would pray during
1951. 1:09:36our family worship. I would say, "Lord,
1952. 1:09:39please give me grace to love and serve
1953. 1:09:42my wife and to love her like Christ
1954. 1:09:44loved the church, like you love us, and
1955. 1:09:46give her grace to respect me and to obey
1956. 1:09:49me as unto you." We would pray that. And
1957. 1:09:52when I first started doing that, it felt
1958. 1:09:54uncomfortable. Why? Because of the
1959. 1:09:55latent feminism. deep in our bones. This
1960. 1:09:58is what the Bible teaches. Okay,
1961. 1:10:01wives, are you obeying your husbands? Do
1962. 1:10:03you respect them? You're called to obey
1963. 1:10:05and respect them even if they're not
  1964. 1:10:07respectable. Did you know that you're
1965. 1:10:08not called to sin? If they ask you to
1966. 1:10:10sin, you are to serve as unto the Lord.
1967. 1:10:12God is the ultimate authority who you
  1968. 1:10:14serve.
1969. 1:10:15But outside of sinning, do you resp
1970. 1:10:18honor your husband? Do you respect him?
1971. 1:10:19Do you obey him? Do you seek to do that?
1972. 1:10:23You are called to do that even if he's
1973. 1:10:24not worthy of it. In fact, in 1
1974. 1:10:26Corinthians, it says that you will win
1975. 1:10:28your husband over. You will point him to
  1976. 1:10:30Christ by
1977. 1:10:32embodying this distinctly feminine glory
1978. 1:10:34of respecting and obeying your husbands.
1979. 1:10:39Now, obviously, men become the kind of
1980. 1:10:41man worthy of obedience and respect.
1981. 1:10:45Become the kind of man who waters his
  1982. 1:10:49garden daily.
1983. 1:10:52Right? that that when people see your
  1984. 1:10:54wife, they see a well-watered vine
1985. 1:10:56that's just bearing beautiful, beautiful
  1986. 1:10:58fruit, you're investing, you're loving,
1987. 1:11:01you're sacrificing for, and they and
1988. 1:11:03they and they feel that, right? You're
1989. 1:11:05going to the word day uh daily. You are
1990. 1:11:08washing your family, your wife, and your
1991. 1:11:09children in the word. You're praying for
  1992. 1:11:10them constantly.
1993. 1:11:13This is what it this is this is what
1994. 1:11:14it's all about. This is what biblical
1995. 1:11:16patriarchy is. It is husbands and wives
1996. 1:11:19taking dominion together in their little
1997. 1:11:20corner of the kingdom. Husbands ruling
1998. 1:11:23their households well. Wives helping
1999. 1:11:25their husbands take dominion, being
2000. 1:11:27fruitful and multiplying, making little
2001. 1:11:29disciples and continuing to make
2002. 1:11:31disciples of our nation, discipling our
2003. 1:11:33that, you know, this is how we win the
2004. 1:11:35world. This is how we win the world.
2005. 1:11:39All right, thanks for sticking it out,
  2006. 1:11:41guys. Um, if you're still here, you're
2007. 1:11:44the best. You guys are awesome. I think
2008. 1:11:45I've been saying that like every
2009. 1:11:46episode, but I mean it. I love you guys.
2010. 1:11:49You guys are the best. Um, one, you can
2011. 1:11:53donate to my nonprofit. That would mean
2012. 1:11:54a ton to me if you want to keep this
2013. 1:11:56thing going. Help me keep it going. Um,
  2014. 1:11:59I got demonetized on YouTube. I've
  2015. 1:12:01mentioned that a few times. That was a
2016. 1:12:02big blow. But we've had some people step
2017. 1:12:03in fill step in and fill some of the
2018. 1:12:05gaps. God save America is the name of my
  2019. 1:12:07501c3.
2020. 1:12:08Um, and our mission is to Yeah. is to
2021. 1:12:12disciple young men, specifically young
2022. 1:12:15men, and train them up to apply their
2023. 1:12:18faith in politics and in the culture
2024. 1:12:19war. And and uh patriarchy is one of the
2025. 1:12:23most important elements of the culture
2026. 1:12:25war just is it is essential to get this
2027. 1:12:28right. Biblical patriarchy is what will
2028. 1:12:30win our country back. It's one of the
2029. 1:12:32core tenants, I would say, of Christian
  2030. 1:12:34nationalism
2031. 1:12:36and uh a vision for uh making America
2032. 1:12:39Christian again. We've got to get the
2033. 1:12:41family right. We've got to get father
2034. 1:12:43rule. Patriarchy. We got to get father
  2035. 1:12:44rule right.
  2036. 1:12:47Okay. Well, I think I've upset all the
2037. 1:12:49right people and and and gave some
2038. 1:12:52helpful teaching to all the right
  2039. 1:12:53people. Yeah. I think we'll end it
2040. 1:12:55there. Join the club. We are doing uh
  2041. 1:12:58Steven Wolf's book along with Zachary
  2042. 1:13:00Garris
2043. 1:13:02uh and two other authors who wrote
  2044. 1:13:04Reformed Christian Politics. We're doing
2045. 1:13:06that for book club. Having lots of fun
2046. 1:13:07with that. We talk theology politics. We
2047. 1:13:09talk about all the stuff backstage. We
2048. 1:13:10also have a little fitness club back
  2049. 1:13:12there that's I'm just now getting back
2050. 1:13:14into. I don't know if you can tell, but
2051. 1:13:16uh you know, want to be not just strong
2052. 1:13:18up here or here. Trying to be strong
2053. 1:13:21here for the generations for my for my
2054. 1:13:24progeny. Anyway, love you guys. And
2055. 1:13:27that's that. Get out there and build,
2056. 1:13:30defend, and expand the kingdom of our
  2057. 1:13:31Lord Jesus Christ.
