  2. 0:05okay so you you have this this final
  3. 0:07Awakening you write this thing then a
  4. 0:09year later I think in ' 86 you wrote why
  5. 0:11was it why I left the left I wrote an
  6. 0:14essay look I as I say I I I I was
  7. 0:18personally threatened by Elaine Brown um
  8. 0:22and then and a I have the tape of the
  9. 0:25phone conversation which he said if you
  10. 0:29if you should get run over David really
  11. 0:32I'm I'm I'm going to be your best friend
  12. 0:35because people will say I did it
  13. 0:37something like that I mean it was a
  14. 0:38think a threat um so I was
  15. 0:42afraid uh I fed to Kate Coleman who
  16. 0:46wrote an article for a now defunct
  17. 0:49leftwing
  18. 0:50magazine uh what called the part's over
  19. 0:53about the criminality of the Panthers
  20. 0:55which I had discovered by personal
  21. 0:58investigation um
  22. 1:02uh but
  23. 1:05uh I forgot well get getting to the
  24. 1:07Village Voice piece oh The Village Voice
  25. 1:10yeah so I finally in 1986 which is it's
  26. 1:14a decade later I wrote a piece why I am
  27. 1:17not no longer a
  28. 1:19leftist and uh and referred to this I
  29. 1:23did not name The Killers but I did refer
  30. 1:26to the murder and the pan that the
  31. 1:28Panthers had murdered her
  32. 1:31and
  33. 1:32um Paul Burman wrote this piece uh about
  34. 1:37the Renegade harowitz the intellectual
  35. 1:39life and the Renegade harowitz it was a
  36. 1:41vicious attack MH and uh he had me at
  37. 1:44the end of his piece cheering on sua who
  38. 1:48was a psychopath that was a contra in
  39. 1:52Nicaragua whom I hadn't even heard of
  40. 1:54when he called me he said and harowitz
  41. 1:56is cheering wakes up the next morning
  42. 1:58cheering suici so so basically you you
  43. 2:00went off the reservation officially with
  44. 2:02this article and then you had said the
  45. 2:04knives were already out no it was with
  46. 2:06the Reagan article yeah with the Reagan
  47. 2:08article was the this one was this is
  48. 2:10right this is right at the left right so
  49. 2:13this was a what it was a year later
  50. 2:14right I think it was 85 and 86 so a year
  51. 2:16later so the knives were already out and
  52. 2:18then this was like sort of the final
  53. 2:19door on that's right and that's so 1986
  54. 2:2287 that's like 30 years ago is that when
  55. 2:24it is something like that in 30 years my
  56. 2:29work has never been taking the work the
  57. 2:32the ideas my arguments with the left why
  58. 2:35I'm no long I wrote a long essay on on
  59. 2:39leaving the left um and why I left it uh
  60. 2:45never U responded to the nation made one
  61. 2:49stab at it but not a very good
  62. 2:52one on the other hand there's like a
  63. 2:55100,000 attacks on me on the internet
  64. 2:57from leftist so it's not like they don't
  65. 2:59think that I need to be refuted they
  66. 3:02think it's just more effective to
  67. 3:04pretend he well if it makes you feel any
  68. 3:05better right before we sat down I was
  69. 3:06scrolling my Twitter feed and some
  70. 3:08article was written about me where they
  71. 3:09referred to me as a right- Winger and
  72. 3:11then got a few other things incorrect
  73. 3:12about me and then my own audience
  74. 3:15actually started attacking them on
  75. 3:17Twitter and then they they didn't issue
  76. 3:19a retraction but they changed the
  77. 3:20headline at least and Chang one other
  78. 3:22thing which of course is not
  79. 3:23journalistically uh sound but I guess
  80. 3:26maybe I'm picking up some of the well at
  81. 3:29first it Hur
  82. 3:30but eventually you you get to be liel
  83. 3:32prooof they they liel you so much that
  84. 3:35it just seems ridiculous more than
  85. 3:37anything else it's just lazy lazy and
  86. 3:39ridiculous well you you know I'm an
  87. 3:41easier Target than you are because I
  88. 3:44vowed when I left the left that I were
  89. 3:46going to talk to the left address them
  90. 3:48in the same way that they address
  91. 3:50everybody else though oh I talk to them
  92. 3:52nicely yeah you
  93. 3:55very very hard to demonize I'm sort of
  94. 3:58easy so so when you see you you had some
  95. 4:02nice things to say about me when you sat
  96. 4:03down and when you see someone like me
  97. 4:05that's understands the title of this
  98. 4:07book that understands your journey and
  99. 4:09all that do you think I was just even
  100. 4:11though obviously we have 30 some IDE
  101. 4:13years between us that I was just late to
  102. 4:15the game and picking up what was going
  103. 4:17on here or do you think something also
  104. 4:19happened in the last couple years with
  105. 4:20the
  106. 4:21left two things first of all starting
  107. 4:25with the McGovern campaign that's when
  108. 4:27it started the communist left
  109. 4:30infiltrated and took over the Democratic
  110. 4:33party um I mean Tom
  111. 4:36Hayden who was no longer with us uh was
  112. 4:39a
  113. 4:40cynical
  114. 4:42anti-American lying
  115. 4:45radical uh and he was given the medal of
  116. 4:47freedom by Bill Clinton um uh he was a u
  117. 4:53state legislator in the state of
  118. 4:55California you can still see his work
  119. 4:57whenever you see prop 65 that warns you
  120. 5:00about the bad effects of chemicals and
  121. 5:04your whatever oh yeah it's everywhere
  122. 5:05here in La
  123. 5:07yeah um but the Democratic party took
  124. 5:10the left
  125. 5:12in the the anti the anti-American
  126. 5:18totalitarian and I would say racist left
  127. 5:20I will explain that more later but
  128. 5:22racist left was taken into the bosom of
  129. 5:25the democratic party in the Clinton
  130. 5:28Administration and and with Obama they
  131. 5:30got one of theirs in the White House
  132. 5:33okay so let so let's pause there for a
  133. 5:34second so when I hear you say that about
  134. 5:36the Clinton Administration that's hard
  135. 5:37for me to picture because those eight
  136. 5:39years were
  137. 5:41basically I don't think we saw a lot of
  138. 5:43what we're seeing right now so what what
  139. 5:45am I missing well you missed the you
  140. 5:47didn't know the personalities uh from
  141. 5:50one um I've written a uh let's put it
  142. 5:54this way I think back to the Clinton
  143. 5:55Administration very fondly still that
  144. 5:57things were basically they were terrible
  145. 5:59they were basically first of all let's
  146. 6:01let's Bill
  147. 6:03Clinton's was is not an ideologue in the
  148. 6:05way that Hillary Clinton is Bill
  149. 6:07Clinton's ideology was
  150. 6:09Mah it was his
  151. 6:11ideology and but that you would argue
  152. 6:13that's probably a Saving Grace then yes
  153. 6:15oh corruption is far better than
  154. 6:17communism
  155. 6:19yeah if it weren't for the corruption of
  156. 6:22the clintons Bernie Sanders would have
  157. 6:23been a
  158. 6:25nominee um that's a great quote there
  159. 6:28did you just quote corruption is far
  160. 6:29better than communism that's a good one
  161. 6:31it is it is because you you can deal
  162. 6:33with it doesn't have the ideology that
  163. 6:35sweeps people along with it Bill Clinton
  164. 6:37domestically was a fairly Centrist uh
  165. 6:41you know I don't have too much to
  166. 6:42quarrel with him there uh uh on foreign
  167. 6:47policy was terrible absolutely terrible
  168. 6:49the World Trade Center was blown up in
  169. 6:51uh
  170. 6:531993 uh by Ramsey Yousef he intended to
  171. 6:57kill 50,000 people or 200,000 to top of
  172. 7:01one of the towers on the other the bomb
  173. 7:03is fired it wounded a thousand people it
  174. 7:06killed six Bill Clinton never visited
  175. 7:09the
  176. 7:09site dismissed it as an individual
  177. 7:12criminal act when it was inspired by the
  178. 7:15blind Sheik who's just
  179. 7:17been um Osama Bin Laden which should
  180. 7:21have been stopped in the 90s before the
  181. 7:23World Trade Center was Ian I can go I've
  182. 7:26written a lot about this so Bill but but
  183. 7:29in the case of that in the case of the
  184. 7:31the First World Trade Center bombing so
  185. 7:32what do you think was going on then in
  186. 7:34Bill Clinton's head when so this happens
  187. 7:36he never visited what is what's the
  188. 7:38ideology there that would lead him to
  189. 7:40that it's an interesting question I wish
  190. 7:42we had a um one of these Democrats on
  191. 7:45and you could ask them the question um I
  192. 7:49I'll try to get a former ad just to skip
  193. 7:53ahead uh in this book I've written big
  194. 7:56agenda I I lay out what I think is going
  195. 7:59on that that uh the Democratic party is
  196. 8:02now a racist
  197. 8:04party uh if you use the the phrase
  198. 8:07people of color is a racist phrase
  199. 8:10identity politics is racist and it's
  200. 8:13anti-American the fundamental American
  201. 8:16idea is that we're all creatures of a
  202. 8:21Divinity or maybe Nature's God whatever
  203. 8:24Jefferson wrote there um and equal in
  204. 8:28the of our creator therefore we should
  205. 8:31be treated equally by our government and
  206. 8:34we have rights that are inalienable that
  207. 8:37government can't take away so it's all
  208. 8:40about individual freedom and most
  209. 8:43importantly individual
  210. 8:46accountability when I was a kid in in
  211. 8:48public schools we
  212. 8:51always uh there was this phrase
  213. 8:54regardless of race color or
  214. 8:57Creed um a a an American is somebody who
  215. 9:01doesn't look at your Origins We're a
  216. 9:03nation of immigrants that way don't look
  217. 9:05at your origins of course if you come
  218. 9:07from a terrorist country we we maybe we
  219. 9:12should have a a little betting process
  220. 9:15yeah
  221. 9:17um identity politics is the opposite
  222. 9:21what the left seeks we are in a civil
  223. 9:23war situation now um and the reason is
  224. 9:28the reason it's so IR reconcilable is
  225. 9:30that the left believe is a is racist it
  226. 9:33believes in a racial hierarchy so if
  227. 9:36you're the right skin color which is
  228. 9:38dark you go to the head of the line for
  229. 9:40admissions to college you go to the head
  230. 9:41of the line for job you go to the head
  231. 9:43of the line for a promotion you go to
  232. 9:45the headle line for almost
  233. 9:47anything everything's not diverse enough
  234. 9:50so we'll take
  235. 9:51anybody um so what would you say to the
  236. 9:53people that would say well white people
  237. 9:55had it good for a long time and and yeah
  238. 9:57and white people did bad things and they
  239. 10:00did good things and one of the good
  240. 10:01things that white America did was to
  241. 10:04liberate the slaves people forget that
  242. 10:06we inherited
  243. 10:08slavery uh this is how I made myself
  244. 10:11notorious in the left by coming out
  245. 10:13against reparations for slavery 137
  246. 10:16years after the
  247. 10:18fact um America inherited a system of
  248. 10:21slavery slavery existed I learned this
  249. 10:23from Orlando Patterson who is a black
  250. 10:26left of
  251. 10:27center um so sociologist at Harvard
  252. 10:30who's written prize-winning books on
  253. 10:32slavery and freedom slavery existed for
  254. 10:373,000 years nobody ever said it was
  255. 10:39immoral not Jesus not Moses not
  256. 10:42Aristotle until a white Christian males
  257. 10:46in England led by Wilbur Force said it's
  258. 10:49immoral and an American slave owner
  259. 10:52Thomas jeon wrote it into the birth
  260. 10:54certificate of this country that all men
  261. 10:57are created equal and a given
  262. 10:59right to Liberty by their creator within
  263. 11:0220 years the slave trade was ended um
  264. 11:06the reason that America didn't initiate
  265. 11:10a Civil War in 1776 to free the slaves
  266. 11:14one of the biggest reasons was that
  267. 11:17England would have come and just retaken
  268. 11:19the colonies and reinstituted
  269. 11:22um slavery anyway and within a
  270. 11:24generation or a little more given in
  271. 11:27those days people lived shorter lives
  272. 11:30uh at the cost of uh
  273. 11:32350,000 Union Soldiers we liberated the
  274. 11:35slaves and liberated them throughout the
  275. 11:38hemisphere so black people Americans can
  276. 11:42be very proud of their Heritage um you
  277. 11:45know it's it's a human Heritage so it's
  278. 11:48got a lot of bad spots but you look at
  279. 11:50any other country in the world and uh
  280. 11:53forgive me lepus for saying
  281. 11:55this one is the
  282. 11:57best what other country do Asians get in
  283. 12:01boats and risk their lives to get into
  284. 12:04you think they're coming here to be
  285. 12:05oppressed right I mean everybody
  286. 12:07everybody wants to want to be here and
  287. 12:09then the funny thing is this at the same
  288. 12:11time you go to watch some of these
  289. 12:12protests and the people that are
  290. 12:14screaming about how racist and evil and
  291. 12:16patriarchy and all this stuff they're
  292. 12:17also the ones calling for open borders
  293. 12:19they want everyone to share in the
  294. 12:20horror that is well it would just
  295. 12:21destroy the country as anybody with any
  296. 12:24sense knows so how it's all let me just
  297. 12:26say yeah the left is is it it's owes
  298. 12:33whatever ideas it has to Marx it's the
  299. 12:35Marxist paradig of the oppressors and
  300. 12:38the oppressed and it's an economic it
  301. 12:41begins as an economic and they've
  302. 12:43layered on race and gender um so but the
  303. 12:48fact is what determines a country's
  304. 12:51Prosperity is culture not classes it's
  305. 12:55culture America has a great culture we
  306. 12:59take in I me one of the things we do is
  307. 13:01we take in brilliant people from all
  308. 13:03over the world and uh give them freedom
  309. 13:06to innovate other countries copy our
  310. 13:09Innovations Israel is the same way it's
  311. 13:11why they hate
  312. 13:13it because they're bringing in people
  313. 13:15from all over the world giving them
  314. 13:17opportunity but but also it's the
  315. 13:19freedom yeah people do not appreciate
  316. 13:22freedom in this country obviously since
  317. 13:24we our universities are now totalitarian
  318. 13:27institutions I can't go to a university
  319. 13:30without bodyguards yeah and that's been
  320. 13:33true for the last 15 years I've been
  321. 13:36physically attacked if I didn't have
  322. 13:39bodyguards and if the university didn't
  323. 13:40put in place security I could never get
  324. 13:43through a speech yeah and I'm not alone
  325. 13:45it's any conservative no it's virtually
  326. 13:47any conservative and it's and now it's
  327. 13:49moderates and this is fascism and it's
  328. 13:52it's totally embedded in our University
  329. 13:55system yeah do you make a distinction
  330. 13:57between sort of the leaders who really
  331. 13:59understand the stuff that you're talking
  332. 14:01about so the people who who are the
  333. 14:03leaders of this leftist movement versus
  334. 14:06the the bulk of the people who I think
  335. 14:08are following along without bad
  336. 14:10intentions like when I see all these
  337. 14:12kids who I you know I mock them on
  338. 14:14Twitter of course people go to
  339. 14:15demonstrations and get laid
  340. 14:18Yeah Yeah you know and people are
  341. 14:20gullible and they don't think and they
  342. 14:22can't put two and two together the
  343. 14:25phrase I didn't want to skip this people
  344. 14:28of color is a racist phrase It's not
  345. 14:33English do we say here's a box of
  346. 14:36crayons of color it's French that's the
  347. 14:39way French people speak purp col or
  348. 14:43whatever they say yeah so it's a
  349. 14:45completely ideological construct what is
  350. 14:48its function well let's look at the
  351. 14:52Mexico two main ethnic
  352. 14:55groups the descendants of the Spanish
  353. 14:58conquistador do who slaughtered the
  354. 14:59indigenous Indians and the descendants
  355. 15:01of the indigenous Indians when they
  356. 15:04cross the border they're both people of
  357. 15:06color therefore they're oppressed both
  358. 15:07of them the
  359. 15:09Conquistadors and the indigenous people
  360. 15:11they're oppressed they deserve special
  361. 15:14sensitivities and special privileges
  362. 15:17maharajas in India are people of color
  363. 15:20beheaders in raqqa are people of color
  364. 15:25who aren't people of color white people
  365. 15:27yeah white people are evil bad this is a
  366. 15:30most this is this is the racist ideology
  367. 15:34of our time is it also lacking in
  368. 15:37several other ways I mean for example
  369. 15:38you could take American Indians uh
  370. 15:41people who've moved here from India or
  371. 15:43their grandparents moved here from India
  372. 15:44or you could take Asian people of
  373. 15:46virtually any nationality and they don't
  374. 15:49count in this leftist thing because they
  375. 15:52economically well the Indians hav't yeah
  376. 15:55the Native Americans I'm sorry no I that
  377. 15:57was a ridiculous
  378. 15:59now I'm going to we're not going to edit
  379. 16:01that out because I don't believe in that
  380. 16:02but that was an completely idiotic
  381. 16:03statement I I meant American Indians
  382. 16:07from India who moved to America not
  383. 16:09Native Americans correct yeah correct
  384. 16:11Chinese the Japanese I said American
  385. 16:13Indians not native americ thank you for
  386. 16:15that's correct I just ruined my course
  387. 16:18they don't like success minor you you
  388. 16:21know don't look over your
  389. 16:23shoulder there's only arrows there's
  390. 16:25only arrows
  391. 16:27coming um that was an Indian joke right
  392. 16:29there yeah I mean the the
  393. 16:33left is is pathetic intellectually they
  394. 16:36don't have an argument so they have to
  395. 16:39purge those groups because those groups
  396. 16:41yeah that's why they have to shut you up
  397. 16:42because they can't deal with your
  398. 16:44arguments is really simple
  399. 16:46straightforward and and it so invaded
  400. 16:48our literary culture the last two
  401. 16:50national book awards were given to
  402. 16:52racist tracks won by tanah heesy
  403. 16:55coats I can never remember the title um
  404. 16:59was it just a rank racist coats uh what
  405. 17:04what inspired him to write the book it's
  406. 17:06about how evil America is but how how
  407. 17:10was the murder of his friend not the
  408. 17:12murder the killing of his friend by a
  409. 17:15policeman in
  410. 17:16Maryland it turns out as he tells you
  411. 17:20that the policeman uh the policeman
  412. 17:22accused uh the Dead uh his dead friend
  413. 17:26of trying to run him over with his car
  414. 17:29the policeman is black so how what does
  415. 17:32coat say he was thinking white now if
  416. 17:35that isn't the purest racism yeah and
  417. 17:38this one now it's called stamp from the
  418. 17:40beginning it's a semil literate book
  419. 17:43that that I mean that that they have
  420. 17:45lowered their
  421. 17:46standards so dramatically is a it still
  422. 17:51shocks me because these are intelligent
  423. 17:53people that people give the awards but I
  424. 17:54should know better um but it opens with
  425. 17:59uh the police shootings of criminals in
  426. 18:02the last year which were totally
  427. 18:06distorted by black lives matter and
  428. 18:08other leftists into cops gunning down
  429. 18:12unarmed blacks these were predators and
  430. 18:14who did they pray pray on they prayed on
  431. 18:16black people Freddy gray I mean uh you
  432. 18:21know you could go on uh I can't even
  433. 18:23remember the names the guy in
  434. 18:25Ferguson
  435. 18:26um they're CRI who prey on black
  436. 18:30people but this guy has them as innocent
  437. 18:33blacks who are gunned down by racist
  438. 18:35cops so at the opening of his book which
  439. 18:37is which he has called the definitive
  440. 18:40history of racism in America he's
  441. 18:42exposed as a liar and he w a national
  442. 18:44book award so our institutions have been
  443. 18:47just generally corrupted yeah so what is
  444. 18:51by This Racist ideology of the left so
  445. 18:54for a lot of people hearing this I think
  446. 18:55a certain amount of people hearing this
  447. 18:56you're going to go yeah I get it see you
  448. 18:58don't talk quite like this which is why
  449. 19:00I think you're much harder to uh I'm I'm
  450. 19:03I I want to see you with a uh a
  451. 19:06so-called liberal I don't call them
  452. 19:08liberals CU they're bigots yeah well
  453. 19:10I've had many Progressive progressives
  454. 19:12on this show and I treat them with the
  455. 19:13same respect that I treat anybody else I
  456. 19:16I my general rule is I don't find that
  457. 19:18berating somebody or belittling them no
  458. 19:20but yeah I say I made this vow 30 30
  459. 19:24years ago that I was going to berate the
  460. 19:27left I was gonna
  461. 19:28okay hey hey LBJ how many kids did you
  462. 19:31kill today I actually when I was still
  463. 19:33sort of leaving the left I thought about
  464. 19:36that statement a lot saying let's see if
  465. 19:40I were a prisoner of war and I was in a
  466. 19:42room with my captor would I rather it
  467. 19:45was LBJ or hoi Min and it was a
  468. 19:51no-brainer so that's part of it is that
  469. 19:53you just constantly say the worst thing
  470. 19:55about your intellectual opponents
  471. 19:57because there's no end here that you
  472. 19:59just just constantly say anything to you
  473. 20:03and that's why I love Milo cuz he just
  474. 20:05throws it right back in their face and
  475. 20:08that's what really needs to be done
  476. 20:09these people need to be embarrassed
  477. 20:11although I'm probably Beyond
  478. 20:13embarrassment yeah I I mean ABC
  479. 20:17News Stephanopoulos is sitting there
  480. 20:19with Katrina Bannon who who Who's entire
  481. 20:22life has been spent apologizing for
  482. 20:25defending and uh advancing communist
  483. 20:27causes
  484. 20:28the hell is that that's
  485. 20:31ABC that's how far gone this country
  486. 20:38[Music]
  487. 20:43is
