Why Going Live Makes Better Long Videos — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I I'm getting quite a lot of customers
- 0:02from YouTube
- 0:03um and I want to start really pushing
- 0:05that. I'm not posting at all enough. And
- 0:08it really interested me what you said
- 0:09about lives. What's I have a choice to
- 0:11make now where I spend my time making
- 0:13videos. What's the the logic of spending
- 0:163 hours once a week on lives instead of
- 0:18planning
- 0:20uh a more sort of polished video in that
- 0:223 hours?
- 0:24>> Well, my actual recording session is the
- 0:26same.
- 0:27So, imagine you're going to do a
- 0:30formalized, you know, polished recording
- 0:32session. I just
- 0:34go live. And so, if you want to see me
- 0:36record polished So, like they take that
- 0:38live and then if I do three YouTube
- 0:40videos in that live, those are three
- 0:43other polished posts that are going out.
- 0:45So, it's not that those have stopped.
- 0:46It's just that I have I have a fourth
- 0:48asset [snorts] that gets created where I
- 0:50get deeper involvement, I get
- 0:51parasocial, I get a free video that
- 0:53gives usually around 100,000 views
- 0:55without me doing anything. And then I
- 0:57still get the three videos plus my
- 0:58shorts. So, it's just like it creates
- 1:00another asset number one and number two,
- 1:02I think there's a different dynamic of
- 1:03live for the people who are live. Third,
- 1:07I think I show up better when I feel
- 1:09like there's people who are watching
- 1:11rather than just like the three
- 1:1320-year-olds behind the camera. Uh
- 1:15cuz cuz in a real way like probably one
- 1:17of the biggest like
- 1:20I don't believe shifts that I had around
- 1:21making content is that the people behind
- 1:24the camera matter a ton.
- 1:26And so, some of my earlier content was a
- 1:28little bit more hardcore than I am in
- 1:29reality because I was just yelling at
- 1:32the 20-year-olds behind the camera
- 1:34because I felt like I was talking to
- 1:35them because they were the only people
- 1:36in the room. If I had all women in the
- 1:38room, my content would have been
- 1:40significantly different. Even though
- 1:42might have had the same packaging or
- 1:43same title or whatever, but like what I
- 1:45was going to say was different. And so,
- 1:46the live has kind of like uh rounded off
- 1:50that edge for me because I see girl,
- 1:52guy, person in Algeria, person here,
- 1:54person in Australia, person UK. And so,
- 1:56so reminds me kind of like in real time
- 1:58that like there's a lot of different
- 1:59people who are consuming that. So my
- 2:01examples are different. Uh the energy
- 2:03that I bring to it is different.
- 2:04And then um the the last piece that um
- 2:08I I like about the lives um No, I think
- 2:11that's all I had one more. I can't
- 2:12remember what it was, but those are
- 2:13those are the things.
- 2:13>> find there's something just about being
- 2:15live where it's like
- 2:16oh, I'm live. Whereas the camera, if
- 2:18it's just rolling, you're like
- 2:20>> Yeah.
- 2:20>> Cuz you're actually live. You can't just
- 2:22be like screw this.
- 2:24>> Yeah.
- 2:24>> Like I'm done. There's some It gives me
- 2:26energy at least. If it unless I'm doing
- 2:28it live, I don't want to do it,
- 2:29basically. Yeah.
- 2:31>> I haven't seen your lives. Do you have
- 2:32questions on Are people asking you
- 2:34questions while you So you have to you
- 2:35get interrupted quite a lot?
- 2:37>> No, so yes and no. So I have my So I
- 2:40don't think about it as interruptions. I
- 2:41think about it as them asking questions
- 2:44while I make a point that if I don't
- 2:47answer it,
- 2:48they would I'd lose that in the video.
- 2:50>> So it adds more value.
- 2:51>> Exactly. So I don't answer every
- 2:53question, but I'll I'll like I'll keep
- 2:55an eye on it, and the guys can cut out
- 2:57like a gap of me reading the comments in
- 2:59between, and then I'll address it. So
- 3:01before we had this, the way I did the
- 3:03videos is I would go record the video,
- 3:05the guys would write down questions they
- 3:06had, and then
- 3:09they would ask the questions after, and
- 3:10then they would slice those in.
- 3:12Uh so I'd be like, so I make my point.
- 3:14Like, so for example, if you're one of
- 3:15these people, which I didn't say at the
- 3:17moment because they're like, well, what
- 3:18if this? I'm like, it's a good point.
- 3:20Didn't think about that. And so then
- 3:20I'll I'll interject it, which then makes
- 3:22it a more complete video.
- 3:23>> Do you go live on several platforms at
- 3:25the same time? Like do you do all of
- 3:27>> do YouTube, but I'm sure I could do
- 3:28more. I just
- 3:29haven't.
- 3:30>> Cool. I just wanted to thank Andrew
- 3:33Kirby over there because I heard about
- 3:34school from videos he made on YouTube,
- 3:36and
- 3:39You know what? You do it very similar to
- 3:41the Twitch some of the Twitch streamers.
- 3:43Have you heard them talk about it?
- 3:44>> Mhm.
- 3:45>> Yeah, the the best ones are very good at
- 3:47making one live and then repurposing it
- 3:49for everything. Yeah.
- 3:51>> The key is like I still make my three
- 3:54YouTube videos a week or whatever from
- 3:56like that's happens in the live. So but
- 3:59the thing that you'll find is that the
- 4:01live is totally okay with one they want
- 4:05to see what how you actually make these
- 4:06videos. They're just curious. And then
- 4:09number two, if you say hey guys I'm
- 4:11going to do this intro real quick
- 4:13and then I just do the intro no one's
- 4:14like oh [ __ ] this guy. I mean because
- 4:16fundamentally if if the hook is
- 4:18interesting it will make them want to
- 4:20watch more.
- 4:21>> But it feels so raw and live. It's
- 4:23that's what happens on a Twitch stream,
- 4:25right? That's why yeah.
- 4:27>> Sorry I don't have the mic. You actually
- 4:29say hang on guys I'm doing an intro now.
- 4:31>> Yeah. I was like all right so I'm going
- 4:33to do three videos today. First video is
- 4:34going to be on this, second video is on
- 4:35this, third video is on this. So I'll do
- 4:37a little Q&A five minutes and I'll be
- 4:38like all right I'm going to rip. So uh
- 4:41you're poor and that sucks and so we
- 4:44need to fix that and here's you know
- 4:45seven ways that I don't kill myself for
- 4:47saying this, right? And so and then I go
- 4:49through the seven things or whatever.
- 4:50>> If you're not getting as many leads as
- 4:52you want and your business is demand
- 4:53[music] constrained, meaning you could
- 4:55service more customers than you
- 4:56currently have, then this is for you. So
- 4:58marketing is changing and I think ACQ
- 5:00[music] tends to be on the bleeding edge
- 5:01of this stuff. We certainly spend the
- 5:03money to do it, but we also build custom
- 5:05software and we pay amazing vendors and
- 5:07very expensive people to figure out the
- 5:09system that we have right now and I want
- 5:10to share it with you kind of open kimono
- 5:11style. If you're not getting as many
- 5:12leads as you want
- 5:14boy do I have the thing for you. Click
- 5:15below, book call and
- 5:17hopefully I'll see you in Vegas.
