  2. 0:14tell me about what's going on with the
  3. 0:17gender discussion in school and what you
  4. 0:19think should be going on gender studies
  5. 0:23they call it gender studies now right
  6. 0:26women so Yousef went from Women's
  7. 0:27Studies to Gender Studies but it really
  8. 0:29should just be called feminist studies
  9. 0:30because that's what it is as evidenced
  10. 0:33by the fact that if somebody comes in
  11. 0:34such as myself and you're not a feminist
  12. 0:36we don't want you here so it's clearly
  13. 0:40tunnel vision I think that the message
  14. 0:45that comes through to college women
  15. 0:48about their futures is not one that will
  16. 0:54ultimately serve them well ten years
  17. 0:56down the line and I'm much more
  18. 0:58concerned of what happens ten years down
  19. 1:00the line not telling you what you want
  20. 1:01to hear going along with what you're
  21. 1:03told which is ultimately that system
  22. 1:07stacked against you number one meaning
  23. 1:10society government employers men men and
  24. 1:14men so that you're already set with this
  25. 1:18mine you already have a mindset that
  26. 1:22you're gonna have to claw your way into
  27. 1:25the world to just be heard and that the
  28. 1:30way to do that is to complain yell be
  29. 1:38angry and devote your life to social
  30. 1:44justice to creating this this other
  31. 1:46world that is totally different from
  32. 1:48anyone we've ever been in before and
  33. 1:50when we achieve that we will have made
  34. 1:52it by then you'll be dead so who cares
  35. 1:53if you live in it what we really want
  36. 1:57wouldn't achieve it by then because what
  37. 1:58they want is not feasible but so it's
  38. 2:02it's a so the narrative in and of itself
  39. 2:05is wrong because it's telling women that
  40. 2:07they are at a disadvantage right from
  41. 2:08the get-go and that simply isn't true
  42. 2:10if anything it's a woman's world we're
  43. 2:12advantaged as females today today
  44. 2:15obviously I wouldn't upset that fifty or
  45. 2:17hundred years ago but today it has
  46. 2:19become that which is what the men's
  47. 2:20rights movement really is about is
  48. 2:22showing that we derailed we focused on
  49. 2:26something that need to be focused on but
  50. 2:28we got off track and now it's become
  51. 2:30about disempowering men to raise women
  52. 2:32up well you did that we have more women
  53. 2:34on college campuses than men we have
  54. 2:36more female breadwinners today than ever
  55. 2:39before too but also a huge rise in
  56. 2:41single motherhood so if at the rise of
  57. 2:44the so-called rise of women has come at
  58. 2:47a tremendous cost and that is what is
  59. 2:50not allowed to be acknowledged that it's
  60. 2:55supposed to be all positive to have
  61. 2:58women rising as though they were in on
  62. 3:01the floor before and now they're going
  63. 3:03up here but the irony is they were up
  64. 3:06here they were they were what they did
  65. 3:09and the role that they played was their
  66. 3:11own separate pedestal if you will and
  67. 3:14we've knocked them off that and said
  68. 3:15this pedestal over here where men set is
  69. 3:18better you want to emulate that and have
  70. 3:21that because they have all this power
  71. 3:23and in a better life so they so we lost
  72. 3:27what women did have in this attempt to
  73. 3:30have something that's better which a
  74. 3:31isn't better and be things get lost in
  75. 3:35the process when we turn away from here
  76. 3:37namely marriage and the family marriage
  77. 3:39and kids men and kids husbands and kids
  78. 3:41so the this this incessant focus on
  79. 3:44women is not in my opinion a good thing
  80. 3:48it is not equality because there's other
  81. 3:52people that live in the world besides
  82. 3:54women and so if you truly are somebody
  83. 3:58who views men and women as equals your
  84. 4:00attention should be focused as much on
  85. 4:02men as it is on women but of course it
  86. 4:04isn't because feminists view is that men
  87. 4:07have it made and women are still in a
  88. 4:09terrible place and we have to keep
  89. 4:10focusing on women until the cows come
  90. 4:12home because there's no other way to do
  91. 4:14it so um telling college women so so so
  92. 4:21right right off the bat there they're
  93. 4:23misinformed by believing that they are
  94. 4:26downtrodden that there
  95. 4:28breasts that they're a victim so that's
  96. 4:30number one which is why there's
  97. 4:31something angry all the time
  98. 4:32um I would be too and the other thing I
  99. 4:36would want to talk with them about that
  100. 4:39it's not allowed to be talked about is
  101. 4:40that their future life for most of them
  102. 4:44not all but for most of them it's going
  103. 4:46to include marriage and the family
  104. 4:48most women still marry they still want
  105. 4:50to do this because it's not a bad thing
  106. 4:52it's a great thing and so if you know
  107. 4:55that's going to be part of your life and
  108. 4:57that 10 years on it's gonna take over
  109. 5:01your life because it will
  110. 5:02why do you prepare for half of your life
  111. 5:06and completely dismiss the other half
  112. 5:09when you know that's in your future it
  113. 5:11seems to me it makes more sense to focus
  114. 5:14on what for most of you will probably be
  115. 5:17your central focus and that the
  116. 5:22professional side of your life is going
  117. 5:24to orbit around it now
  118. 5:26and I want to pause and say of course
  119. 5:28there's plenty women who don't live that
  120. 5:29way they do the opposite you know the
  121. 5:32career is the focus and then children
  122. 5:34and husbands orbit but for most people
  123. 5:39that's not what they wanted we know that
  124. 5:40because women still to this day most
  125. 5:42women choose to work once they have
  126. 5:45children once they're married have
  127. 5:47children choose to work either part time
  128. 5:49or not at all when children are home in
  129. 5:52their home like between birth and 18
  130. 5:54meaning most women sequence their lives
  131. 5:57to accommodate for that part of their
  132. 6:00desire and we only hear from the women
  133. 6:05who don't do it that way that's one of
  134. 6:07the biggest problems that we have is
  135. 6:09that the ones you're hearing from are
  136. 6:11the ones who don't make family at the
  137. 6:12focus so you're seeing and hearing
  138. 6:14you're talking about women in Hollywood
  139. 6:15women the media writers not me other
  140. 6:19writers people who live big lives are
  141. 6:25typically in front of cameras are not
  142. 6:28wives and mothers but are women who have
  143. 6:35made a career their life and then they
  144. 6:39are the ones espousing how it should be
  145. 6:41but
  146. 6:42for most women that's not what they want
  147. 6:44or are going to do as evidenced by the
  148. 6:46fact that feminists are complaining
  149. 6:47because we still have enough women
  150. 6:49becoming CEOs
  151. 6:50why don't you want to do that you're
  152. 6:51supposed to do that they don't want to
  153. 6:53do it and there's a difference between
  154. 6:54being capable of doing something and
  155. 6:56wanting to and that's a really big thing
  156. 6:58when it comes to these issues that we
  157. 7:00deal with with equal pay and having more
  158. 7:03female CEOs that feminists are constant
  159. 7:06complaining about there they're fighting
  160. 7:08against another human nature you know
  161. 7:11women don't want that life it's not that
  162. 7:13they think they can't have it or
  163. 7:14somebody's holding them back that's not
  164. 7:15what they choose to do but it is what
  165. 7:17feminists choose to do so that's where
  166. 7:19the disconnect is you're being sort of
  167. 7:21mentored by the wrong people unless you
  168. 7:25want that to be your life but most women
  169. 7:27don't so part of the feminist goal is to
  170. 7:37have equal representation in Congress
  171. 7:41and film with directors female directors
  172. 7:44are very small percentage politics
  173. 7:46politicians yeah so in government
  174. 7:49feminists want women to be equal in
  175. 7:52these places of perceived power right um
  176. 7:55are you saying that not all women want
  177. 7:57to be equal in in that I'm saying not
  178. 8:01all women I'm saying most women don't
  179. 8:03want the life that it would take to do
  180. 8:06that to become a politician you there is
  181. 8:09no life I mean you're 900 hours 120
  182. 8:12you're just never home you barely eat
  183. 8:13the life of a politician is completely
  184. 8:16different from the life you and I may
  185. 8:18know and it's very similar I imagine to
  186. 8:20you know I don't know an actor and
  187. 8:22actress when they're making a film or a
  188. 8:24CEO all the time I don't you know a
  189. 8:28doctor a surgeon those types of
  190. 8:30professions that's it that's your whole
  191. 8:33life there's nothing else your health
  192. 8:36goes your friendships go your exercise
  193. 8:37go your marriage goes your time with the
  194. 8:40children goes women aren't built that
  195. 8:42way they want all these different
  196. 8:44aspects of their lives
  197. 8:45and the way to do that is to find
  198. 8:48something that's going to allow for it
  199. 8:50and that's a generally part-time work or
  200. 8:52flexible work or work that doesn't mean
  201. 8:54be
  202. 8:54my brain surgeon and that's just the way
  203. 8:58it is and there's nothing wrong with
  204. 9:00that
  205. 9:00unless you're feminist and you're not
  206. 9:03okay with that
  207. 9:03because it doesn't fit your your goal
  208. 9:07your ultimate goal
