✨Why do I get NIGHTMARES after LISTENING TO A SUBLIMINAL? {with subtitle} — Transcript

- 0:06Why I have nightmares after listening to a subliminal? Does it mean that those subliminals are dangerous?
- 0:14Well, even researchers still cant find the real reason why we have nightmares, they can just propose several possible risk factor.
- 0:22So it's quite strange if you can beat those researchers with being certain that your nightmares are caused by subliminals, and even accuse a submaker for making a dangerous subliminal.
- 0:34Let's start from the basic things that you should now about nightmares. Even though there isnt any definite cause of nightmares, most researchers believe that our dream are affected by our daytime emotion.
- 0:49There're 2 studies that support this. First, Yu, who studied a set of fifteen emotions, find positive correlations between intensity of pre-sleep, dream, and post-sleep emotions.
- 1:03The second one is Gilchrist et al. who measure the intensity of eight emotions (four positive and four negative), found positive correlations between wake and dream emotions.
- 1:14Moreover, higher frequency of negative emotions in dreams has been linked to several psychopathological conditions such as depression , anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and insomnia.
- 1:28So your condition when you're awake could also play role in your dream.
- 1:32At the biological level, the neural networks which process dreaming and emotion are overlapping. That's why your dream emotions may directly reflect daytime emotions
- 1:42another opposite possibility is that the dream contains emotions that did not receive enough conscious attention during the preceding wake
- 1:52As example, fear and interest appear which during the dream. Even tho they're generated by waking events, but they were not sufficiently processed during the day (maybe you supress that emotions yourself so it appears in your dream).
- 2:10Anyway, your daytime emotion doesnt always directly affect your dream in that day, there's other hypothesis that there might be a few days "lag" to process your emotions.
- 2:20Maybe you experience that emotion today, but there're several days lag, so you get the nightmares on the other day.
- 2:31Summarizing all of them, there might be 2 reason why do you get a nightmare after listening to a subliminal.
- 2:39First, your nightmare might not be related at all with a sub. You just have a nightmare which is caused by your daytime emotions, but it coincidentally happens after you listen to a subliminal.
- 2:51Just because X occurs after Y, doesnt mean that Y cause the X, right?
- 2:57The second reason, your dreams might be indeed caused by the subliminals, but we usually call it detox. As I've explained earlier, nightmares might be related with unresolved emotions.
- 3:11Have you ever tried to hide your feelings? Or supress your negative emotions? If you keep doing it, at some point, your body defense mechanism will try to protect your 'sanity' by resolving it, maybe thru your dream. You can pour your negative emotions out there.
- 3:32And it goes the same way with subliminal. It tries to 'detox' those negative feelings thru your dream, thru your nightmares.
