- 0:00One of the world's most eaten crops that
- 0:01shouldn't exist is the avocado.
- 0:05Skin is actually really good for you.
- 0:07Every creature that evolved to eat
- 0:08avocados is actually all extinct. They
- 0:10adapted to be eaten by animals that no
- 0:12longer roam this planet. The only reason
- 0:14they exist is because ancient humans saw
- 0:16those animals eating them. Back then,
- 0:17the Aztecs called them avocado, which
- 0:20literally means testicle.
- 0:23When the Spanish arrived, they liked the
- 0:24fruit, but they couldn't really say the
- 0:26name, so they just called it auacate.
- 0:28English speakers just called them
- 0:30alligator pears. It was only in the
- 0:311900s when growers in California didn't
- 0:33like the name and officially changed it
- 0:36to avocado, which is pretty insane.
