  1. 0:00Have you ever looked at your life and
  2. 0:02thought, "You know what? This is pretty
  3. 0:05okay."
  4. 0:06You're not driving a supercar, you're
  5. 0:08not the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
  6. 0:11Your biggest ambition for the weekend
  7. 0:13might be to finish a book or try a new
  8. 0:15recipe, and you're
  9. 0:17fine with that.
  10. 0:18If you grew up being told to reach for
  11. 0:21the stars, this feeling can be a little
  12. 0:23confusing.
  13. 0:24Are you lazy? Have you [music] given up?
  14. 0:26Or have you just figured something out?
  15. 0:29Today, we're diving into why so many
  16. 0:31adults are trading the relentless
  17. 0:33pursuit of more for the quiet
  18. 0:35satisfaction [music] of enough.
  19. 0:38For generations, the blueprint for a
  20. 0:40successful life was written in stone.
  21. 0:42[music]
  22. 0:43Get a good job, buy a house, get
  23. 0:45married, have 2.5 kids, and retire with
  24. 0:47a gold watch.
  25. 0:49It was a one-size-fits-all dream, but
  26. 0:52for many of us,
  27. 0:53>> [music]
  28. 0:53>> that dream now looks less like a goal
  29. 0:55and more like a recipe for a lifetime of
  30. 0:58stress.
  31. 0:59First, we're collectively resigning from
  32. 1:03the rat [music] race. We've seen our
  33. 1:04parents, our grandparents, generations
  34. 1:07work themselves to the bone for
  35. 1:09companies that would replace them in a
  36. 1:11heartbeat.
  37. 1:13We've been told [music] that if we just
  38. 1:15hustle, we can have it all, only to
  39. 1:16realize that having it all usually means
  40. 1:18being completely burnt out. We looked at
  41. 1:21the prize and realized it wasn't worth
  42. 1:23the price.
  43. 1:24So,
  44. 1:25>> [music]
  45. 1:25>> we are choosing our sanity over a
  46. 1:27promotion.
  47. 1:28We are choosing our mental health over a
  48. 1:30mortgage that feels like a ball and
  49. 1:32chain.
  50. 1:33And no, this isn't laziness.
  51. 1:36It's a strategic retreat from a game
  52. 1:38we've realized is rigged. [music]
  53. 1:40Second, social media broke the finish
  54. 1:42line. We used to compare ourselves to
  55. 1:44our neighbors.
  56. 1:45>> [music]
  57. 1:45>> Now, we're comparing ourselves to
  58. 1:47millions of people's curated highlight
  59. 1:49reels 24/7. It's impossible. It's
  60. 1:51impossible to win.
  61. 1:53The constant [music] pressure to have a
  62. 1:55perfect job, a perfect body, perfect
  63. 1:57vacations. It's exhausting, so many of
  64. 2:00us have just stopped [music] playing.
  65. 2:02Being okay becomes an act of rebellion.
  66. 2:06>> [music]
  67. 2:06>> It's a way to opt out of the comparison
  68. 2:08Olympics and say, "You know what? My
  69. 2:11messy, average life is actually pretty
  70. 2:14great compared [music] to the pressure
  71. 2:16cooker of online perfection."
  72. 2:19And third, we are living in an age of
  73. 2:21existential uncertainty.
  74. 2:23We've seen a global pandemic, political
  75. 2:26[music] chaos, and the looming threat of
  76. 2:28climate change.
  77. 2:30When the world feels like it's
  78. 2:31constantly [music] on fire, the pressure
  79. 2:33to achieve can seem absurdly trivial.
  80. 2:37It's hard to get stressed about climbing
  81. 2:39the corporate ladder when you're
  82. 2:40wondering if the ladder is even on a
  83. 2:42stable building. [music]
  84. 2:43This leads to a profound shift in
  85. 2:46priorities. Instead of building an
  86. 2:48empire, we are focused on building a
  87. 2:51life of meaning and small joys.
  88. 2:54It's the difference between trying to
  89. 2:55conquer the world and trying to [music]
  90. 2:56find peace within it.
  91. 2:59Now, this all sounds very wise and
  92. 3:01healthy, but there's a fine line between
  93. 3:03contentment and complacency. [music]
  94. 3:05It's worth asking yourself, is your okay
  95. 3:08a peaceful choice or is it a fear-based
  96. 3:11[music] disguise?
  97. 3:13So, ask yourself this.
  98. 3:15Does your okay feel like a soft, [music]
  99. 3:18warm blanket you wrapped yourself in?
  100. 3:21Or does it feel like a cage that you've
  101. 3:23built around [music] yourself?
  102. 3:25True contentment is a launchpad. It
  103. 3:27gives you [music] the stability and
  104. 3:29peace to take creative risks and pursue
  105. 3:31things that genuinely light you up.
  106. 3:34But complacency is a hiding place.
  107. 3:38It's when you use "I'm okay with just
  108. 3:40being okay" as an excuse to avoid the
  109. 3:42fear of failure.
  110. 3:44It's saying, [music]
  111. 3:45"I don't want that" when you're really
  112. 3:47thinking, "I'm scared I can't have it."
  113. 3:50Being okay with just being okay isn't
  114. 3:53about giving up on your dreams.
  115. 3:55It's about redefining them.
  116. 3:57It's about realizing that success
  117. 4:00>> [music]
  118. 4:00>> doesn't have to be loud. It's not a
  119. 4:02flashy trophy. Sometimes success is a
  120. 4:05quiet evening,
  121. 4:07a clear mind, and the freedom to be
  122. 4:10authentically, unapologetically you.
  123. 4:13The ultimate goal isn't to have an
  124. 4:15amazing life. It's to feel amazing about
  125. 4:18your life.
  126. 4:20And if your life is just okay, but you
  127. 4:23feel genuinely at peace with it, then
  128. 4:26you have not failed. You have won.
  129. 4:29You found a secret that most people
  130. 4:30spend their whole lives searching for.
  131. 4:33If you're navigating this feeling of
  132. 4:35kind of being stuck in the middle, you
  133. 4:37might find our video on the psychology
  134. 4:40of a quarter-life crisis really helpful.
  135. 4:42And for a practice [music] in finding
  136. 4:44contentment, try our guided meditation
  137. 4:46on gratitude.
  138. 4:48You've got this.
