4. 0:22Rasheed. And brother Rasheed, we've
5. 0:24talked about what the Quran says about
6. 0:27Jesus. The Quran seems really really
7. 0:31confused. Yeah. when it's talking about
8. 0:34Jesus as if it's uh just uh absorbing
9. 0:36ideas from the Christians of the time
10. 0:39without understanding even slightly what
11. 0:42those claims about Jesus mean. Uh but
12. 0:47there's also quite a bit of confusion
13. 0:49among Muslims about who the Holy Spirit
14. 0:51is. You'll hear them saying that this
15. 0:53must be the this is this is the angel
16. 0:55Gabriel and so on. So what does the
17. 0:58Quran actually teach about the Holy
18. 1:00Spirit? The first time I read about the
19. 1:05meaning of the Holy Spirit in
20. 1:07Christianity,
21. 1:09I started revisiting the Quran because
22. 1:12as Muslims, we were taught the Holy
23. 1:15Spirit is the angel Gabriel and that
24. 1:19Christians got it wrong. Is not the is
25. 1:23not um the spirit of God is the angel
26. 1:27Gabriel. That's right. So, so just for
27. 1:29for people who are new to this pretty
28. 1:31standard Muslim belief to say that the
29. 1:33Holy Spirit is the angel Gabriel. Yes.
30. 1:38The second thing I noticed Christians
31. 1:40call it the Holy Spirit with the article
32. 1:46the
33. 1:50in the Quran
34. 1:54the spirit of the holy.
35. 1:57Not the Holy Spirit is the spirit of the
36. 2:00holy. So there is a quite difference
37. 2:03there. I I mean that sounds very
38. 2:05different. You're saying it's the spirit
39. 2:08Yeah. of the holy of the holy that. So
40. 2:12and doesn't sound like an angel. And
41. 2:14then after that I never saw an
42. 2:17explanation in the Quran. It is the
43. 2:20angel Gabriel. For example, in Sorah 2
44. 2:24253, we gave Jesus the son of Mary clear
45. 2:27proofs and we supported him with the
46. 2:31spirit of the holy. Some translation put
47. 2:34put it as the pure spirit.
48. 2:38That's a translation. But actually it
49. 2:40says the spirit of the holy. First of
50. 2:44all, why singling out Jesus among all
51. 2:49prophets in this verse and not only this
52. 2:53verse, other two verses and talking
53. 2:56about him as being supported by the Holy
54. 2:59Spirit? Why not Moses?
55. 3:02So in other words, this is we we pointed
56. 3:04out in our discussion of Jesus that the
57. 3:07Islamic beliefs about Jesus really it
58. 3:09makes no sense for him to be so unique.
59. 3:12Yeah. in Islam. It makes perfect sense
60. 3:14for him to be this unique in
61. 3:16Christianity where he's born of a
62. 3:18virgin. He lives the most miraculous
63. 3:20life in history. He's the Messiah. Uh
64. 3:23he's going to return. And you look at
65. 3:25and and he's the one who's sinless.
66. 3:27Satan couldn't touch him. You look at
67. 3:28this and say, "Why is he so special?"
68. 3:30And so now we're adding to that. And
69. 3:32he's also called the word of Allah and a
70. 3:35spirit from Allah. Now we're adding to
71. 3:36that. He's supported by the Holy Spirit.
72. 3:41Which brings me, okay, Christians
73. 3:43believe in the Holy Spirit. And you are
74. 3:45singling out Jesus among all prophets
75. 3:48being supported by the Holy Spirit.
76. 3:51Doesn't that sound like a Christian
77. 3:54doctrine to you?
78. 3:57I mean, if it's the angel Gabriel, he
79. 3:59went to all of them. Mhm. So you just
80. 4:02there's no no need to say just Jesus in
81. 4:06surah 5:10 when Allah will say oh Jesus
82. 4:10son of Mary remember my favor upon you
83. 4:13and upon your mother when I supported
84. 4:15you with the spirit of the holy
85. 4:20with the pure spirit
86. 4:22it's it's one of the things that Jesus
87. 4:26he he's going to remind him
88. 4:30it's One of the best things that
89. 4:33happened to Jesus, he was supported by
90. 4:36and ga by the spirit of the holy. And
91. 4:38guess what? It doesn't say the angel
92. 4:41Gabriel.
93. 4:43Where is the angel Gabriel and the
94. 4:44phrase? Nowhere. So I think Muslim
95. 4:48scholars were faced with this that the
96. 4:52spirit of the holy could mean something
97. 4:55else and they had to find uh um a way to
98. 4:59get out of it or a confusion because as
99. 5:03we saw earlier
100. 5:06everything is confused in the Quran.
101. 5:10There is there is no clear doctrine
102. 5:12about Christianity, about the trinity,
103. 5:15about the the son of God, about uh uh
104. 5:18the crucifixion, about all these things.
105. 5:20It just it's kind of blurry. So I think
106. 5:24the same thing applies the spirit of the
107. 5:26holy or the holy spirit. So they
108. 5:28couldn't figure out it's actually the
109. 5:30spirit of God himself. So they put it as
110. 5:33the angel Gabriel. And so this would be
111. 5:36yet another example of Muhammad hearing
112. 5:39things from Christians or hearing things
113. 5:42from Jews or hearing things from the
114. 5:44groups around him, absorbing these
115. 5:46things, claiming that he got a
116. 5:49revelation
117. 5:50and then he has no clue what these
118. 5:52things actually mean. Yes. And then and
119. 5:56then later Muslims are forced to try and
120. 5:57make sense of it and they do a really
121. 5:59bad job. Exactly. And and
122. 6:04imagine Muslims who say this is the
123. 6:06angel the the the
124. 6:09spirit is the angel. Muhammad himself
125. 6:12was asked about the spirit and he
126. 6:14couldn't answer it. I mean obviously we
127. 6:17would say oh it's very easy the spirit's
128. 6:19the angel. The angel gave he didn't.
129. 6:20They asked him what's the spirit? No one
130. 6:23knows and he say the spirit is one of
131. 6:25the affairs of Allah.
132. 6:28Okay. Mhm. And it's not clear what
133. 6:32spirit they were asking about.
134. 6:34This spirit in general, what is the
135. 6:37spirit? And he said, I have no clue.
136. 6:40Basically, some commentaries they say he
137. 6:42stayed 15 days waiting for revelation.
138. 6:46And he was so embarrassed. And at the
139. 6:48end, he went to them and he said,
140. 6:52"The spirit is a matter of Allah. I have
141. 6:56no idea." Well, if you have no idea,
142. 7:00Christians do actually and they explain
143. 7:02what is the spirit of God or the Holy
144. 7:06Spirit. It's one of the trinity that you
145. 7:10never mentioned or you never even
146. 7:12discussed in your book. So for Muslims
147. 7:15to understand what's the Holy Spirit,
148. 7:18don't go to commentators because they
149. 7:20are just trying to justify this
150. 7:22doctrines. Go to the gospel and
151. 7:24understand it from the source. You you
152. 7:27even have uh you even have passages in
153. 7:28the Quran which draw a distinction
154. 7:31between the spirit and angels because uh
155. 7:34the passages will say that Allah spend
156. 7:36sends the spirit and the angels. Yeah.
157. 7:39As if they're we're talking about two
158. 7:40different things here. Yes. And so
159. 7:42somehow Muslims look at all of this and
160. 7:43just say the spirit is the angel
161. 7:49Gabriel. Yeah. And it it just looks like
162. 7:52we something we have over and over
163. 7:53again. It looks like a bad copy. looks
164. 7:56like a bad copy of Christian doctrines
165. 7:59and then gets twisted in a way to throw
166. 8:01to send people away from Christian
167. 8:02doctrines
168. 8:04even though they they make no sense. I
169. 8:06mean their beliefs about Jesus make no
170. 8:08sense if Islam is true. Their beliefs
171. 8:10about the spirit make no sense. And and
172. 8:12and also like um what what will prevent
173. 8:17the Quran to say we supported you with
174. 8:20the angel Gabriel? Yeah. Why? I mean
175. 8:22it's very simple, very easy to
176. 8:23understand. Because Gabriel was
177. 8:25mentioned in other verses in the Quran
178. 8:27by name.
179. 8:29Why? Why you don't mention him here? Why
180. 8:31you you you leave it so in unclear that
181. 8:34will confuse a person like me and have
182. 8:38to go somewhere else to find the
183. 8:41meaning? You could have just Yeah. And
184. 8:44also you he could have said the the the
185. 8:47Holy Spirit has supported you, supported
186. 8:49Muhammad, supported Moses, supported all
187. 8:52these. But it doesn't say it like that.
188. 8:54So it makes me wonder why. And then of
189. 8:57of course I mean at the very least you
190. 9:00would think that when Allah is
191. 9:04responding to the doctrine of the
192. 9:06trinity. Oh yeah. That he would say the
193. 9:08Christians say that God is father, son,
194. 9:15and holy spirit. That it's it's it's God
195. 9:18the father. It's Jesus and the holy
196. 9:21spirit. Yeah. And yet he completely gets
197. 9:24that wrong.
198. 9:26I I don't know. I don't know what to
199. 9:28make of this. I mean, how do you how do
200. 9:30you take this seriously when it gets
201. 9:31everything wrong about other people's
202. 9:33religious beliefs and then you think
203. 9:34it's it's telling you the truth about
204. 9:36religion? It's telling you the truth
205. 9:37about God when whenever it talks about
206. 9:39Christians, whenever it talks about Jew
207. 9:41Jews and and their beliefs, it gets it
208. 9:43wrong.
209. 9:45the the the story of Mary having Jesus.
210. 9:52Basically, in the Quran, he says the uh
211. 9:54God blew his
212. 9:57spirit
213. 9:59into her.
214. 10:04How you blew an angel? An angel that an
215. 10:09angel in
216. 10:12doesn't make any sense. Exactly. So they
217. 10:15had to come up with twists and
218. 10:17translations and go around and add many
219. 10:19parentheses to to really justify that.
220. 10:23If God is saying
221. 10:28we blow our spirit to her,
222. 10:32there's no way it's in an angel. Mhm.
223. 10:36And so, um,
224. 10:40one of the things that that Muslims
225. 10:42really seem to miss in all of this, uh,
226. 10:46we saw some of it when we talked about
227. 10:47Jesus that when it calls Jesus the word
228. 10:50of Allah. Yeah. This is already
229. 10:53distinguishing Jesus from everything
230. 10:56that's created. Yeah. Because if if you
231. 11:00are the word of Allah, if you're the
232. 11:01speech of Allah, you are originating
233. 11:03from within Allah and being spoken out
234. 11:06by Allah. That's why Muslims won't say
235. 11:08the Quran is created because it's the
236. 11:10speech of Allah. It originates from with
237. 11:12from within Allah. It's not something he
238. 11:14creates. They had a big fight about it.
239. 11:16Yeah. Yeah. People got massacred. Um and
240. 11:19so the this the the speech of Allah is
241. 11:23not some book where Allah just says be
242. 11:25and then a book comes into existence. It
243. 11:27comes from within Allah. Well, guess
244. 11:28what? Jesus is called the word of Allah.
245. 11:31So Jesus is somehow being spoken out by
246. 11:34Allah. That distinguishes him from
247. 11:36everything else. Every angel, every
248. 11:39angel is something according to Islam
249. 11:41that would be created by Allah. Allah
250. 11:43says be and then an angel comes into
251. 11:46existence.
252. 11:48The spirit of Allah is breathed out by
253. 11:51Allah. And they say that's the angel
254. 11:53Gabriel. Okay. So the angel Gabriel,
255. 11:55you've got all the created angels and
256. 11:57then the angel Gabriel is somehow
257. 11:59breathed out of Allah. But then Allah
258. 12:02not only breathes out the spirit, he
259. 12:04breathes the angel Gabriel into Mary to
260. 12:08create Jesus. It it's it's just it
261. 12:11doesn't make sense. And I think they
262. 12:13have a lot of problems to explain this
263. 12:16and we I just like to ask questions. So
264. 12:20any honest um Muslim will follow these
265. 12:24questions and find the truth. Mhm. And
266. 12:26so I would just say that all you Muslims
267. 12:29out there who criticize Christianity and
268. 12:32saying we have some sort of incoherent
269. 12:33theology when we know exactly what we
270. 12:36believe. We know who the father is. We
271. 12:37know who the son is. We know who the
272. 12:39holy spirit is. And you have an
273. 12:41incoherent mess that has to be uh
274. 12:44reinterpretated reinterpreted and
275. 12:46redefined by later scholars in a way
276. 12:48that makes no sense because the Quran
277. 12:50makes no sense when it's talking about
278. 12:52these things. Uh, you might want to
279. 12:54clean up Islam before you start throwing
280. 12:57stones at other people.
