- 0:00Sometimes it's the people closest to you
- 0:02that you should be worried about. And I
- 0:04mean closest in proximity as in your
- 0:07neighbor. You know, the people that are
- 0:09supposed to look out for you, watch your
- 0:10house while you're out of town, water
- 0:12your plants, you know, give you a cup of
- 0:15sugar if you ever need one. Not cut up
- 0:17your body with a hacksaw in your own
- 0:19bathtub after chopping off all your
- 0:22fingertips and throwing them in the
- 0:24toilet. And that is exactly what Steven
- 0:26McDaniel did to Lauren Giddings. I'm
- 0:29currently researching the case right
- 0:30now, but I wanted to show you guys these
- 0:33videos of Steven McDaniels when he's
- 0:35talking to the news versus when he's in
- 0:38his police interrogation. Just so you
- 0:40can see what an actual psychopath looks
- 0:42like as their mask is slipping off. And
- 0:45if you're not already subscribed [music]
- 0:47and you want to hear the full story when
- 0:48I drop it, then please hit the button
- 0:50and be ready for it. Thanks, guys. See
- 0:52if there was anything amiss, but I mean,
- 0:55she had a door jamb that was sitting
- 0:58right by it, so there was no sign that
- 1:00anyone broke in.
- 1:02I mean, the door was locked when
- 1:03everyone got here.
- 1:08I mean, we we just don't know where she
- 1:10is. I mean What about in the like the
- 1:12parking lot area? I know they've been
- 1:13doing a lot of I think that's where they
- 1:15were have recovered the body or whatever
- 1:17they recovered from there. Body?
- 1:19Had you heard any Had you seen anything
- 1:21there?
- 1:24Had you seen anything there? I
- 1:26I mean, we don't know if this is the
- 1:27same person. You know what I mean? Like
- 1:29they took out a lot of stuff earlier. We
- 1:30don't know if it's the same person or
- 1:31not. That's why we're trying to ask
- 1:33people if they know who lived there.
- 1:37They said that she was over there in the
- 1:38morning
- 1:40and then that was the last time that
- 1:42anyone
- 1:43would been able to find out from I'd
- 1:46seen her. She hadn't mentioned what she
- 1:47was going to do that day or anything? Uh
- 1:50We uh Joe, he got on the computer last
- 1:54night to see she'd sent anything She'd
- 1:56sent an email out to some people.
- 1:59That afternoon talking about like going
- 2:01out to eat or something.
- 2:04And then the last thing that anyone
- 2:07There was an email that she sent out
- 2:09after 10:00 that night where she she
- 2:13sent to
- 2:14I think it was someone in Atlanta, a
- 2:16friend of hers in Atlanta and he she
- 2:20said that she she was afraid in her
- 2:23apartment that she thought someone had
- 2:24tried to break in on Thursday night.
- 2:27And she she was afraid to stay in there,
- 2:31but
- 2:33Where did you hear Where did you hear
- 2:34that from? From Joe? No,
- 2:36he he pulled it up and we we read it off
- 2:38the screen.
- 2:40She had sent that to her friend in
- 2:41Atlanta? Yeah, I I can't remember his
- 2:44name, but
- 2:44>> And you hadn't heard anything
- 2:50about Thursday night or anything?
- 2:51>> No.
- 2:52She never came to you to tell you
- 2:54anything? No, I mean
- 2:57I I if she had I I could have done
- 2:59something. I mean,
- 3:01I could have lent her a handgun. I've
- 3:02I've got a little handgun that I have
- 3:04for defense. She had a sleepover or
- 3:07something? Yeah, I mean something. I
- 3:09mean, if she was afraid in her
- 3:10apartment, then I mean
- 3:13get her out of there. Is that what she
- 3:15said that someone tried to break in on
- 3:16Thursday? That that's what she said in
- 3:17the email. She thought that someone had
- 3:18tried to break into her apartment. She
- 3:20said like "Macon hoodlums tried to break
- 3:22into my apartment on Thursday night."
- 3:26Is that her car parked there, the Chevy?
- 3:28No. Small car? No, um
- 3:31I think that's the detective's car,
- 3:33Detective Patterson.
- 3:35>> No, it it was here earlier and they they
- 3:37towed it. I mean, it it'd been there for
- 3:40days and then they towed it to I guess
- 3:42look through see if there was
- 3:45Yeah.
- 3:46How did she find out that something was
- 3:48wrong with the police doing it like when
- 3:51you walked out a little while ago or
- 3:53No, I mean
- 3:54we the police were called last night and
- 3:57they came and they looked around and
- 4:00they didn't see anything. I mean, they
- 4:02went in we looked around we tried to
- 4:04find out where she was. But they were
- 4:05knocking on neighbors' doors and stuff?
- 4:07>> I mean, they they went in they had a key
- 4:09to her apartment and
- 4:11and they checked around, didn't see
- 4:14anything out of place. I mean, it was
- 4:16locked when everyone got there. And that
- 4:18was midnight? Yeah, around midnight and
- 4:20then we went we went over to the law
- 4:22school see if maybe she was
- 4:24over in the the library studying or
- 4:26something. And we we looked up in the
- 4:28study rooms on the third floor and there
- 4:30was
- 4:31no one there. And we came back, we
- 4:34looked around and just trying to find
- 4:37any anything to figure out where she
- 4:38was.
- 4:40She doesn't have any family in Georgia?
- 4:42I I don't know. I mean, as far as I know
- 4:45every all of her family is from in
- 4:47Maryland. Have you met her family
- 4:49before? I I mean, there there was one
- 4:51time that I met them. They came down
- 4:54first year.
- 4:55She she had a little dog, a little brown
- 4:57dog that she would
- 5:00exercise out in front of the law school
- 5:03and it got hit as she was coming across
- 5:06the road. I
- 5:08I heard the car hit it and ran out and
- 5:12she was there crying and we thankfully
- 5:15there was someone who came along who
- 5:17knew a vet or something and they helped
- 5:20out and the her family came down. I
- 5:22think a a couple weeks after that or
- 5:24something and I met them just briefly.
- 5:26>> Right. But
- 5:28They're a boyfriend or anything?

- 7:16I mean, you watch TV shows, right? Like
- 7:18detective shows. What's your

- 7:22would take her if somebody did take her?
- 7:25When she was running.
- 7:28Does she normally run all the time?
- 7:30She runs I don't know how often.
- 7:34You mean you think somebody might have
- 7:35took her when she was running like down
- 7:37the street somewhere? Yes.
- 7:39>> [snorts]
- 7:42>> You don't think somebody got her when
- 7:44she got back to her apartment?
- 7:46I don't know.
- 7:51Well, you know there was a body found in
- 7:52the trash can next to the apartments.
- 7:55Yes.
- 7:55>> You do know that.
- 7:57And it's a female white female's body.
- 8:01Right there.
- 8:03Right next to y'all's apartment.
- 8:06Feet within from her apartment.
- 8:11I mean
- 8:16we don't know 100% sure it's Lauren.
- 8:20But we're pretty confident it is.
- 8:23We're waiting for some tests to be done
- 8:26to be 100% sure.
- 8:29I mean, who would who would
- 8:31do something to somebody and throw them
- 8:32in a trash can? I don't know.
- 8:34>> I'm asking for your advice or your
- 8:37observation.

- 8:42would do something like that? You lived
- 8:44over there for 3 years.
- 8:46That's Tonight's the first night I think
- 8:48I've ever been over there.
- 8:50In your expert opinion
- 8:54of all your knowledge of going through
- 8:56law school and all that,
- 8:59who in that complex do I need to talk
- 9:01to?
- 9:03I don't know.
- 9:05No names come to mind? You can't help me
- 9:07out a little bit?
- 9:10Huh?

- 9:15I don't know. You don't know anybody
- 9:20at all
- 9:23that lives in that complex?
- 9:26You know, earlier you told me about a
- 9:28guy that lives in apartment 15.
- 9:32I mean, is he a decent guy?
- 9:34I think so.

- 11:15today that you took the trash out to the
- 11:17trash can.
- 11:19Right? Am I wrong?
- 11:21That's right. I mean, cuz you said you
- 11:23like stayed inside the whole
- 11:26the whole weekend, I think, cuz you had
- 11:28all your food and all that.
- 11:30You never went to Kroger over the
- 11:31weekend or Walmart or anything? I don't
- 11:35remember.
- 11:38But you could have.
- 11:40I don't know. When you go to Kroger when
- 11:43you do go to the store to get your food,
- 11:45do you use a credit card or you pay
- 11:47cash?
- 11:48Cash. Do you have a Kroger card? Yes.
- 11:52Okay. So, the Kroger card should be able

- 11:58know.
- 12:00Huh?
- 12:03You're going to have to tell me what to

- 12:38want to know what happened to her.
- 12:41I don't know.
- 12:47You don't know?
- 12:49No. That's what you want me to tell her
- 12:51mother and her father.
- 12:53That you don't know.
- 12:55I don't know.
- 12:55>> Not that you're sorry that she's
- 12:57missing. Not that you've been trying to
- 12:59help me all day find her, but you just

- 13:05I don't know.
- 13:06>> Are you a sorry piece of shit that you
- 13:07want me to tell her that?
- 13:12You got your ass on that fucking news
- 13:15and stood out there
- 13:17and gave a media report that her mother
- 13:20saw
- 13:23about her missing daughter.
- 13:27And you want me to sit there and tell
- 13:28them that you don't know.
- 13:32Is that what you want me to tell them?
- 13:34Cuz you're all over the news.
- 13:37You sure stood out there and ran your
- 13:39mouth to the news media.
- 13:41But now you're going to get out here and
- 13:43you don't fucking know.
- 13:46You know.
- 13:48You're just a sorry piece of shit that
- 13:50don't give a fuck.
- 13:53Right?
- 13:55Yeah.
- 13:56Well, why'd you tell the media
- 13:57everything?
- 13:59Do you need to see what you told the
- 14:00media today?
- 14:02It was on the 11:00 news. Well, I'm
- 14:04asking you.
- 14:06Tell me. I want to know.
- 14:09I don't know where she is. That ain't
- 14:12what you told the media.
- 14:17You didn't stand in front of that camera
- 14:18and say, "I don't know.
- 14:21I don't know.
- 14:22I don't know."
- 14:33Right?
- 14:36You bought all these weapons. Was you
- 14:38ever in the military? No.
- 14:42What do you need all these weapons for?
- 14:44Are you scared somebody's going to hurt
- 14:45you?
- 14:46No.
- 14:48What do you need all these weapons for?
- 14:51To have. Why? There's a reason why.
- 14:55No.
- 15:05You know what's crazy? I was talking to
- 15:07people that he works with and
- 15:08everything. They talk about how he's
- 15:10always expresses himself. He don't know.
- 15:12He's very talkative. Didn't they say
- 15:14you're so talkative, buddy? That you're
- 15:16always so friendly. You stop and say
- 15:18hello and you talk.
- 15:20What Why is it that you're acting so
- 15:22short with us tonight? If you If you
- 15:24have all this kind of personality about
- 15:26you, why is it that everything that we
- 15:28get from you is yes, no, I don't know?
- 15:31I don't know.
- 15:34>> [snorts]
