- 0:00If you're to turn on the news and pick
- 0:02up a newspaper, it's very clear that
- 0:04there's a lot going on in the world
- 0:06today. And chances are there's a lot
- 0:08going on in your life. Trouble [music]
- 0:11is real. Affliction is real. Spiritual
- 0:15warfare is real.
- 0:17Life and everything that comes with it,
- 0:20as unreal as it may feel at times, is
- 0:23very real.
- 0:25But I want to remind you of something
- 0:26today. something that should change the
- 0:29way you face every battle, every
- 0:31setback, and every attack the enemy
- 0:33throws at you. The Bible says in
- 0:36Ephesians 1 18 to 21,
- 0:39I pray that your hearts will be flooded
- 0:41with light so that you can see something
- 0:43of the future [music] he has called you
- 0:45to share. I pray that you will begin to
- 0:48understand how incredibly great his
- 0:50power is to help those who believe him.
- 0:53It's that same mighty power that raised
- 0:56Christ Jesus from [music] the dead and
- 0:58seated him in the place of honor at
- 1:00God's right hand in heaven, far, far
- 1:03above any other king or ruler [music] or
- 1:05dictator or leader.
- 1:08Now, I want you to hear that the same
- 1:11power that raised Christ from the dead
- 1:14is available to those who believe.
- 1:18Not a lesser power, not a diluted
- 1:20version, the same mighty [music] power,
- 1:23the resurrection power of God Almighty
- 1:26is at work [music] in you. And so
- 1:29although you may be hardpressed on every
- 1:31side, you're not crushed.
- 1:34You might be [music] discouraged, but
- 1:36you're not destroyed.
- 1:38Although you're perplexed, you've not
- 1:40been driven to despair.
- 1:42The bottom line is this. Regardless of
- 1:46how bad or how messed up you think
- 1:48[music] your situation is, you're not
- 1:51forsaken.
- 1:53The Bible says in 1 John 4:4, [music]
- 1:57little children, you are from God and
- 2:00have overcome them. For he who is in you
- 2:04is greater than he who is in the world.
- 2:07Greater is he who is in [music] you than
- 2:11he who is in the world. The one who is
- 2:15in you, the one who is in your heart,
- 2:18the one who is called Jesus Christ is
- 2:22powerful. He's more powerful than the
- 2:25one who is in the world.
- 2:27More powerful than every principality,
- 2:29[music]
- 2:30more powerful than every ruler of
- 2:32darkness, and more powerful than every
- 2:34spiritual force of wickedness in the
- 2:36heavenly realm.
- 2:38Now, if you really knew this, if you
- 2:41really believed it, if you were truly
- 2:43convinced that Jesus Christ, your Lord
- 2:46and [music] Savior, is greater than he
- 2:48who is in the world, then you would be
- 2:50confident in every battle, confident
- 2:54even when under attack.
- 2:56I want you to meditate on David's words
- 2:58in Psalm 27:3.
- 3:02Though a mighty army surrounds me, my
- 3:04heart will not be afraid.
- 3:07Even if I am attacked, I will remain
- 3:10confident.
- 3:12Now, why would David take such a stance?
- 3:16Because victory [music] is certain with
- 3:18Jesus Christ. The devil may attack.
- 3:21[music] He might scheme against you, but
- 3:23one thing he cannot do is take away the
- 3:26hope you have in Jesus Christ. He can
- 3:29never take away the faith you have in
- 3:31Jesus Christ. And as long as you have
- 3:34faith, nothing is impossible.
- 3:38Think about David standing before
- 3:40Goliath, a shepherd boy against a 9- ft
- 3:44giant in full battle armor.
- 3:47The entire army of Israel had been
- 3:49paralyzed by fear for 40 days. No one
- 3:53would fight. No one would step [music]
- 3:55forward
- 3:56because they measured the giant against
- 3:58their own strength. By that measure, the
- 4:01giant was unbeatable.
- 4:04But David didn't measure Goliath against
- 4:06his own strength. He measured Goliath
- 4:08against the God who was in him. And he
- 4:11said in 1st Samuel 17, "You come against
- 4:15me with sword and spear and javelin. But
- 4:18I come against you in the name of the
- 4:20Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of
- 4:23Israel, whom you have defied.
- 4:26This day [music] the Lord will deliver
- 4:28you into my hands and the whole world
- 4:31will know that there is a God in Israel.
- 4:35David wasn't confident in his sling. He
- 4:38wasn't confident in his skill, but he
- 4:41was confident in the God who was greater
- 4:44than the giant. And one stone brought
- 4:48Goliath down because greater was the God
- 4:51in David than the giant [music] in the
- 4:54valley.
- 4:55Think about Elisha in 2 Kings chapter 6.
- 4:59The king of Aram sent a great army with
- 5:01horses [music] and chariots to surround
- 5:03the city of Dothan in the night. When
- 5:06Elisha's servant woke up in the morning
- 5:07and saw the army surrounding them, he
- 5:10panicked. He said, "Oh no, my lord, what
- 5:13shall we do?" And Elisha's response is
- 5:16one of the most powerful statements of
- 5:18faith in [music] the entire Bible. He
- 5:21said, "Do not fear, for those who are
- 5:24with us are more than those who are with
- 5:27them." And then he prayed, "Lord, open
- 5:31his eyes so he may see."
- 5:34And the Lord opened the servant's eyes,
- 5:37and he looked up, and the hills were
- 5:39full of horses and chariots of fire all
- 5:42around Elisha.
- 5:44an army of heaven, invisible to the
- 5:47natural eye, but more real than the army
- 5:50[music] on the ground.
- 5:52Greater were those who were in Elijah,
- 5:56than those who were against him.
- 5:59And greater is he who was in you than he
- 6:02who was in the world. You may only see
- 6:05the enemy's army with your natural eyes,
- 6:08but if God were to open your spiritual
- 6:10eyes right now, you would see the hosts
- 6:13of heaven surrounding you, chariots of
- 6:15fire on every hill, angels encamped on
- 6:19every side, and you would understand
- 6:22that you have never been outnumbered,
- 6:24not for a single day of your life. And
- 6:28this is why Jesus said in Matthew 21:21,
- 6:32"I assure you and most solemnly say to
- 6:35you, if you have faith and do not doubt,
- 6:39you will not only do what was done to
- 6:41the fig tree, but even if you say to
- 6:44this mountain, be taken up and thrown
- 6:47into the sea," it will happen.
- 6:51If you have faith in Jesus, if you trust
- 6:54him, if you have confidence in him, then
- 6:57you will never be crushed by [music] the
- 6:58enemy. You will never be led to despair.
- 7:02You will not be destroyed or broken by
- 7:04the evil one. And it's all because you
- 7:08have faith. Faith that knows greater is
- 7:12he who is in me than he who is in the
- 7:16world.
- 7:17The mountains in your life, the
- 7:19obstacles, the impossibilities, the
- 7:22things that look immovable,
- 7:24they're not bigger than the God who
- 7:26lives inside you. And faith doesn't just
- 7:29[music] acknowledge that God is big.
- 7:31Faith speaks to the mountain tells it to
- 7:34move. Because the authority of Jesus
- 7:37Christ, the one who is in you, is
- 7:40greater than any mountain this world
- 7:43[music] can produce.
- 7:45Think about Peter. Before the Holy
- 7:47Spirit came, [music] Peter denied Jesus
- 7:50three times around a fire.
- 7:53He was afraid of a servant girl. He was
- 7:55crushed by his own weakness.
- 7:58But after Pentecost, [music]
- 8:00after the one who was greater came to
- 8:03live inside him, Peter stood before
- 8:06thousands and preached with a boldness
- 8:08that shook Jerusalem.
- 8:11The same man who ran from a servant girl
- 8:14now stood before the rulers [music] who
- 8:17had crucified Jesus and said, "Salvation
- 8:21is [music] found in no one else."
- 8:24So what changed? Not Peter's
- 8:26personality, not his [music] education,
- 8:29not even his circumstances.
- 8:32What changed was who was living inside
- 8:34him. The Holy Spirit. The same power
- 8:38that [music] raised Christ from the
- 8:40dead. And that power turned a [music]
- 8:43coward into a world changer.
- 8:46That same power is in you right now. If
- 8:50you've given your life to Jesus Christ,
- 8:52the Holy [music] Spirit lives in you.
- 8:56And he is greater than every fear, every
- 8:58attack, every scheme, and every giant
- 9:01that has ever come against you.
- 9:04And here's one more truth that I want to
- 9:06anchor in your heart today.
- 9:09Not only is the one who is in you
- 9:11greater than the one who is in the
- 9:13world,
- 9:14but nothing can separate you from his
- 9:17love.
- 9:19The Bible says in Romans 8:38-39,
- 9:22[music]
- 9:23"For I am persuaded that neither death
- 9:26nor life, nor angels, nor
- 9:28principalities, nor powers, nor things
- 9:32present, nor things to come, nor height,
- 9:35nor depth, nor any other created thing
- 9:39shall be able to separate us from the
- 9:41love of God, which is in Christ Jesus
- 9:44our Lord."
- 9:47Nothing.
- 9:49Not death. Not life, not angels, not
- 9:52demons, not the present, not the future,
- 9:56not height, not depth, not any created
- 10:01thing in all of existence.
- 10:04Nothing can separate you from the love
- 10:07of God in Christ Jesus.
- 10:10The enemy can attack you, but he cannot
- 10:12separate you from God's love. He can
- 10:15wound [music] you, but he cannot remove
- 10:17you from God's hand. He can trouble you,
- 10:21but he cannot destroy the foundation you
- 10:23stand on.
- 10:25Because that foundation is Jesus Christ,
- 10:28and he who is in you is greater.
- 10:32Now, let us pray.
- 10:35Heavenly Father, your mercies are new
- 10:37every [music] morning and your
- 10:39faithfulness towards us is unmatched.
- 10:43We understand that [music] this life
- 10:44will bring its own challenges, its own
- 10:47tests and trials. But we look to you
- 10:50always, Lord. Our faith will be placed
- 10:53in you. Our hope will be placed in you.
- 10:56[music]
- 10:57And we are so grateful to know that we
- 10:59have an almighty God who cares for us.
- 11:02We declare your word in First [music]
- 11:04John 4:4.
- 11:07Greater is he who is in you than he who
- 11:10is in the world.
- 11:12Lord, you are greater. Greater than
- 11:16every enemy, greater than every
- 11:18obstacle, greater than every mountain
- 11:21that stands [music] in our way. Because
- 11:24you live inside us, we carry your
- 11:26authority wherever we go. In every
- 11:29battle, [music]
- 11:30in every storm, in every valley, greater
- 11:34is he who is in us.
- 11:37We declare your word in Romans 8:35.
- 11:41Who shall separate us from the love of
- 11:43Christ? Shall tribulation or distress or
- 11:48persecution or famine or nakedness or
- 11:52peril or sword?
- 11:55Nothing can separate us from your love,
- 11:57Jesus. Nothing we face, nothing that
- 12:00comes against us, nothing the enemy
- 12:03[music] can devise. Your love is
- 12:05unbreakable. Your love is unconquerable.
- 12:09and we stand secure in it today.
- 12:12Father, many times our [music] natural
- 12:14eyes will only see the mountains and the
- 12:16giants of impossibility all around us.
- 12:20We pray that you would open our
- 12:21spiritual eyes. Open them as you open
- 12:24the eyes of Elisha's servant so that we
- 12:26can see the angels that encamp around
- 12:28us. So that we can see the chariots of
- 12:31fire on the hills. So that we can see
- 12:33the favor and grace that you have placed
- 12:36over our lives.
- 12:38And father, I pray that we may come to a
- 12:40fuller, deeper knowledge of the Lord and
- 12:42Savior Jesus Christ. And not just head
- 12:44knowledge, but heart knowledge. The kind
- 12:47of knowledge that transforms the way we
- 12:49live, the way we speak, the way we love.
- 12:53I pray, Father [music] God, that we may
- 12:55be conformed to the likeness of your
- 12:57son, Jesus, in our deeds, in our words,
- 13:00and in our thoughts, in our motives.
- 13:04And when you call the righteous to spend
- 13:06eternity with you, Lord, [music] I pray
- 13:08that we may be among them.
- 13:11Lord Jesus, I pray that we may live God-
- 13:13centered lives that honor your name and
- 13:16never bring shame to it. And I pray that
- 13:18we be obedient, loving, pure, humble,
- 13:22[music] and compassionate, and willing
- 13:24to serve as you served.
- 13:27You who taught us your disciples that
- 13:30greatness [music] comes through serving
- 13:31others. Give us hearts that simply live
- 13:35to worship you, oh Lord our God. Instill
- 13:38in us the fear of the Lord, which your
- 13:40word says is the beginning of wisdom. I
- 13:43pray that [music] the Holy Spirit will
- 13:45develop us and mold our character. Let
- 13:48our lives become testimonies so that
- 13:50unbelievers may be drawn to [music] you,
- 13:52Lord, when they see what you have done
- 13:54in us.
- 13:56I pray that the Holy Spirit would fill
- 13:57us with boldness and courage.
- 14:00remind us [music] that we are no longer
- 14:02slaves to fear, but children of God.
- 14:05That we've not been given a spirit of
- 14:07fear, but of power and love and a sound
- 14:11mind.
- 14:12Help us to realize, Lord Jesus, that a
- 14:15true righteous way of living is what you
- 14:18describe in Matthew 16 24-2.
- 14:23Then Jesus told his disciples, "If
- 14:26anyone would come after me, let him deny
- 14:29himself and take up his cross and follow
- 14:32me. For whoever would save his life will
- 14:36lose it, but whoever loses his life for
- 14:39my sake will find it." Lord, you call us
- 14:43to deny ourselves and set aside selfish
- 14:46interests. You call [music] us to take
- 14:48up our cross, to express a willingness
- 14:51to endure whatever may come [music] for
- 14:53your sake. Give us hearts and minds that
- 14:56are committed to following you. Give us
- 14:58a spirit [music] of humility that says,
- 15:00"More of you, Lord, and less of me."
- 15:04Father, I pray for every person
- 15:05listening right now who feels
- 15:07hardpressed.
- 15:08One who feels crushed by circumstances.
- 15:11The one who's perplexed and confused
- 15:13about what's happening in their life.
- 15:16the one who's wondering whether God has
- 15:17forsaken them. Lord, remind them today.
- 15:21They are not forsaken. They are not
- 15:24destroyed. They are not [music]
- 15:26abandoned.
- 15:28Greater is he who is in them than
- 15:30anything that [music] is coming against
- 15:32them.
- 15:34Lord, I pray that your presence would
- 15:35always be with us. May your presence
- 15:38surround us always. Watch over our
- 15:41steps, Lord. And while we do not know
- 15:44what's ahead, we pray that you'll go
- 15:46before us and give us the grace to
- 15:49conquer whatever comes our way.
- 15:52We praise you, Lord. Because the same
- 15:55power that raised Christ from the dead
- 15:57is alive and at [music] work in us. We
- 16:01are not fighting with human strength. We
- 16:04are carrying resurrection power. And
- 16:07that power has never been defeated.
- 16:10We praise you because nothing can
- 16:12separate us from your love. Not
- 16:15tribulation, not distress, not
- 16:18persecution, not famine, not the sword,
- 16:22nothing in all of creation. Your love
- 16:26holds us. Your love keeps us and your
- 16:29love will carry us through.
- 16:33We praise you because greater [music] is
- 16:35he who is in us than he who is in the
- 16:38world.
- 16:40We are overcomers. We are more than
- 16:43conquerors.
- 16:44And the victory that has already been
- 16:46won at the cross is the victory we walk
- 16:49in today.
- 16:51We thank you for hearing this prayer. In
- 16:54the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray.
- 16:58Amen.
- 17:00Now, I want to encourage you to meditate
- 17:01on Psalm 121. The Bible reads,
- 17:06"I look up to the mountains. Does my
- 17:09help come from there?"
- 17:11My help comes from the Lord who made
- 17:14heaven [music] and earth. He will not
- 17:17let you stumble. The one who watches
- 17:19over you will not slumber.
- 17:22Indeed, he who watches over Israel never
- 17:26[music] slumbers or sleeps.
- 17:28The Lord himself watches over you. The
- 17:32Lord stands beside you as your
- 17:34protective shade. The sun will not harm
- 17:37you by day, nor the moon at [music]
- 17:40night. The Lord keeps you from all harm
- 17:44and watches over your life.
- 17:47The Lord keeps watch over you as you
- 17:49come and go, both now and forever.
- 17:56The Bible says in Ephesians 1 [music]
- 17:5818-21,
- 18:00I pray that your hearts will be flooded
- 18:02with light so that you can see something
- 18:04of the future he has called you to
- 18:06share. I pray that you [music] will
- 18:08begin to understand how incredibly great
- 18:10his power is to help those who believe
- 18:13him.
- 18:14It's that same mighty power that raised
- 18:16Christ Jesus from the dead and seated
- 18:19him in the place of honor at God's right
- 18:21hand in heaven, far, far above any other
- 18:25king or ruler [music] or dictator or
- 18:27leader.
- 18:29The Bible says in 1 John 4:4,
- 18:33"Little children, you are from God and
- 18:36have overcome them. For he who is in you
- 18:40is greater than he who is in the world.
- 18:46Though a mighty army surrounds me, my
- 18:49heart will not be afraid.
- 18:52Even if I am attacked, I will remain
- 18:55confident.
- 18:58I assure you and most solemnly say to
- 19:00you, if you have faith and do not doubt,
- 19:05you will not only do what was done to
- 19:06the fig tree, but even [music] if you
- 19:09say to this mountain, "Be taken up and
- 19:12thrown into the sea," it will happen.
