12. 0:20they cough they're getting weaker but
13. 0:23they're not they're not taking they're
14. 0:24not taking any medication
15. 0:26they're just continuing to eat what they
16. 0:27eat they're they're
17. 0:29they're they're practicing the way they
18. 0:31practice and their body's getting worse
19. 0:32and worse until one day
20. 0:34it flares up and something in their body
21. 0:37goes wrong and they have to end up in
22. 0:38the hospital
23. 0:40right because now the pain is so extreme
24. 0:43that the entire body
25. 0:44is just paralyzed and then the hospital
26. 0:47they go to the hospital they do some
27. 0:48surgery or they patch it up or something
28. 0:50they can do
29. 0:50to minimize the pain and the person goes
30. 0:52back to the same sleep again
31. 0:54the same behavior again you can't
32. 0:57expect and this is what we do when
33. 1:00flare-ups happen in this ummah
34. 1:01all of a sudden we act like we're one
35. 1:03ummah and these sentiments grow
36. 1:06but long-term you cannot that you know
37. 1:08in the immediate sense i pray that allah
38. 1:10gives relief to the muslims
39. 1:13i pray that allah azza gives you know
40. 1:16like some some sense of of
41. 1:20sabbath and of of healing to those that
42. 1:23have
43. 1:24lost children they've lost parents
44. 1:28when you think about somebody you know
45. 1:30bombings happening
46. 1:31or when i thought about those those
47. 1:32girls that were killed in afghanistan
48. 1:35when i was just thinking about them i'm
49. 1:37a father i have girls
50. 1:40i believe how speechless would i be
51. 1:42would i even be able to speak
52. 1:44if that happened and if i really truly
53. 1:47feel that pain
54. 1:49then what am i supposed to do with it
55. 1:51there's supposed to be something we do
56. 1:52not just as an individual
57. 1:54we have to figure out how to restore our
58. 1:56place as an ummah
59. 1:58again that has to happen
60. 2:01and that's not it's not a shallow
61. 2:03conversation
62. 2:05it's a serious conversation every one of
63. 2:08the young men and women that are
64. 2:09listening to me whether you're listening
65. 2:11online or you're here in front of me
66. 2:13if we don't realize that allah did not
67. 2:16put you and me on this earth and make us
68. 2:18a muslim just so we can eat halal food
69. 2:20and give each other on eve and life will
70. 2:22go on as normal
71. 2:23and we haven't realized what it means to
72. 2:25be it may be you you know what it means
73. 2:26to be a muslim individually but you have
74. 2:28no clue what it means to be part of an
75. 2:30ummah
76. 2:31to be a part of an um there is something
77. 2:33bigger than me that i have to be
78. 2:35concerned with
79. 2:36something has to be there some concern
80. 2:39has to be there and it needs to
81. 2:41translate it to some kind of concrete
82. 2:43course of action
83. 2:44i don't say that i have the answers i
84. 2:46started by saying that in the beginning
85. 2:48but at the very least we need to have
86. 2:50that deep deep concern
87. 2:52and move beyond the shallow move beyond
88. 2:54just feeling better about ourselves
89. 2:58move beyond just venting we've been
90. 3:00venting a long time
91. 3:02we've been doing that a long time it's
92. 3:05this is an ummah that is
93. 3:07it's history is of people that made
94. 3:09changes in the world

100. 3:21fairness
101. 3:21it's actually in everything
102. 3:25you find in the world problems happen
103. 3:27with extremism
104. 3:29when the wealthy become extremely
105. 3:30wealthy there's a problem in that
106. 3:32country
107. 3:33when the poor become extremely poor
108. 3:35there's a problem in that country
109. 3:37when the government becomes extremely
110. 3:39authoritarian there's a problem in that
111. 3:40country
112. 3:42when the people become extremely
113. 3:43anarchists there's a problem in that
114. 3:45country
115. 3:46when you have too much control there's a
116. 3:48problem when you have too much freedom
117. 3:50there's a problem there's everywhere you
118. 3:53go there's an imbalance
119. 3:55there's an imbalance in family life
120. 3:57there's an imbalance in individual life
121. 3:59there's an imbalance
122. 4:00in governmental life there's in there's
123. 4:02imbalance everywhere around us
124. 4:04and allah says and allah made this
125. 4:06nation a nation that is characterized by
126. 4:08balance itself
127. 4:10and the sad tragedy is when allah said
128. 4:12that
129. 4:14so that you can be witnesses over
130. 4:16humanity so that when humanity is
131. 4:17looking for
132. 4:18where do we find balance is this just a
133. 4:20hypothetical theoretical thing
134. 4:21human beings can never have balance no
135. 4:23they have this umma to look at and when
136. 4:24they look at this um
137. 4:25they oh this is what balance is supposed
138. 4:27to be this is what justice looks like
139. 4:31this is what harmony looks like this is
140. 4:33what purpose looks like
141. 4:35is that really what we look like right
142. 4:37now is that
143. 4:39you know should we feel good about
144. 4:40reading this ayah we made you into an
145. 4:42ummah that's balanced and we look at
146. 4:45ourselves and say alhamdulillah we have
147. 4:46a lot of us
148. 4:47we are we're not and on top of that he
149. 4:50put a burden on us so people can be
150. 4:52witness against us
151. 4:54so people does you we can be witness
152. 4:56against people
153. 4:57and the messenger can be witness against
154. 4:58us this is the scary part of the silence
155. 5:00i'm going to leave you with shahada you
156. 5:03know and then
157. 5:04shahada rasool allah we were supposed to
158. 5:08show humanity this balance because allah
159. 5:10made us in charge of doing that as an
160. 5:11ummah
161. 5:13as an ummah and when we and we were
162. 5:15supposed to do that because on judgment
163. 5:17day
164. 5:18rasulullah sallallahu alaihi will
165. 5:20testify that he
166. 5:21left this ummah in a balanced way he
167. 5:24gave them this mandate and they
168. 5:25understood it
169. 5:27and they were supposed to show that to
170. 5:28the rest of the world
171. 5:30so on judgement day humanity will
172. 5:32testify
173. 5:34if we didn't do our job and we never
174. 5:36showed the world what balance looks like
175. 5:38then humanity gets to testify against us
176. 5:41why would we be attracted to islam
177. 5:43they'll say
178. 5:44why would we ever think anything good of
179. 5:46this prophet this book
180. 5:48have you seen these people this is what
181. 5:50they were like this is what their
182. 5:51countries were like they were some of
183. 5:52the most corrupt in the world
184. 5:54they were some of the most you know
185. 5:55they're some of the most uh
186. 5:57grimy scum business people to work with
187. 6:01the only time i ever got cheated was by
188. 6:02a muslim
189. 6:04the only people that ever lied you know
190. 6:06were the muslims
191. 6:08this is this is this this is supposed to
192. 6:09be why would i ever be attracted to
193. 6:11their religion
194. 6:13why would i be attracted to that why
195. 6:15would i want anything to do with it
196. 6:18the i saw them to be some of the most

211. 6:47conquered makkah that's what it looks

213. 6:50and we are we are carrying that forward
214. 6:54ramadan is actually a you know in my

216. 6:58on i said ramadan is was supposed to be

218. 7:02of us being a different nation we are
219. 7:05now the um
220. 7:06the jews used to fast on different days
221. 7:09and we used to fast on those who used to
222. 7:11fast on the same days as them
223. 7:13and then allah revealed ramadan just to
224. 7:16commemorate that you are a separate
225. 7:18people now
226. 7:19you're a separate nation now so
227. 7:20everything in suratul baqarah
228. 7:22points to us becoming a new nation
229. 7:24you're going to fast on different days
230. 7:26you have you have the new word of allah
231. 7:27the final word of allah with you
232. 7:29and your qibla is different right
233. 7:32our capital is different our spiritual
234. 7:35capital changed
235. 7:36everything about the surah was actually
236. 7:39about us
237. 7:39being put together as a new nation a
238. 7:42nation of balance
239. 7:44that's what we were supposed to be this
240. 7:47sense of burden needs to translate into
241. 7:51something
242. 7:51that allah would be pleased with
243. 7:55this sense of purpose and every one of
244. 7:58there's
245. 7:58no i would argue when the ummah is
246. 8:01imbalanced there's no
247. 8:02individual exempt from this sense of
248. 8:04purpose
249. 8:05nobody every one of us has something to
250. 8:08contribute
251. 8:09towards this and if we're not capable of
252. 8:12influencing anyone except our own
253. 8:14households
254. 8:15then i better raise my children to be
255. 8:17contributors towards this
256. 8:19towards that goal of becoming the ummah
257. 8:21that we're supposed to become
258. 8:22to raising that kind of a child when we
259. 8:25can get a little
260. 8:26you know we can free ourselves a little
261. 8:28from raising kids whose only purpose is
262. 8:30to get a job
263. 8:32and to make the family proud with the
264. 8:33new car they bought and
265. 8:35that's all that's we're raising our kids
266. 8:38to throw fancy weddings
267. 8:41that's it that's there's nothing else
268. 8:42higher to look forward to
269. 8:45how would put a sense of mission
270. 8:48into our children
