- 0:03genetic testing serves a bunch of
- 0:05different purposes actually but we often
- 0:07do genetic testing when a person has a
- 0:10family history of a particular condition
- 0:13or maybe your doctor is trying to figure
- 0:14out more about the condition you've been
- 0:16diagnosed with and it can help not only
- 0:19in guidance for other family members and
- 0:21for yourself going forward but sometimes
- 0:24even determines what treatment might
- 0:25work best for you you should ask your
- 0:27doctor um whether or not it is something
- 0:30that would be right for you but often
- 0:32times you may receive genetic testing at
- 0:34the time of a cancer diagnosis for
- 0:36instance or if you're concerned about
- 0:39cancer in your family or other
- 0:41conditions that may be running in your
- 0:42family it can really give guidance as to
- 0:45whether or not you should have screening
- 0:47that looks different than what the
- 0:48average person has
