  1. 0:00I know it sounds pretentious, but
  2. 0:01sometimes I wonder if I'm ambitious or
  3. 0:03just chronically dissatisfied. Everyone
  4. 0:05secretly thinks they're special. The
  5. 0:07difference is most people eventually
  6. 0:09grow out of it. Sometimes I think I'm
  7. 0:10destined for greatness. Other times I
  8. 0:12spend 3 hours rearranging my shoes. I'm
  9. 0:14jealous of those who are certain. The
  10. 0:16ones who grew up knowing they wanted to
  11. 0:17be a doctor or a nurse or a rich man's
  12. 0:19second wife. Everyone says just find
  13. 0:22your purpose as if it's hiding behind
  14. 0:24the sofa. But I want to write a book,
  15. 0:25start a company, learn Italian, climb
  16. 0:27Everest. But then I get overwhelmed and
  17. 0:29spend 3 hours reorganizing my apartment
  18. 0:31instead. Am I underperforming or just
  19. 0:33unrealistic? Maybe I keep trying
  20. 0:35everything because I love nothing. If we
  21. 0:37do all have a calling, then why does
  22. 0:38mine keep going to voicemail? Am I lazy
  23. 0:41or am I applying Olympic levels of
  24. 0:43effort to all the wrong things? Symptoms
  25. 0:45include dramatic reinventions,
  26. 0:47unrealistic expectations, and the sudden
  27. 0:49urge to move abroad every spring.
  28. 0:50Distractions [music] disguised as
  29. 0:52destiny. Perhaps maturity is simply
  30. 0:54accepting the life you're currently
  31. 0:55living. Or perhaps that's just what
  32. 0:57people with pensions, mortgages, and
  33. 0:59secure attachments say. Winning.
