- 0:00Christmas coming up, your birthday
- 0:01coming up, anything coming up, you want
- 0:03to go spend money, or
- 0:07someone just doesn't know what to get
- 0:08you when they're not into woodworking.
- 0:09Here's a video of some cheap and some a
- 0:11little more on the expensive side. Some
- 0:12woodworking tools, some gift options.
- 0:15Let's get right into it.
- 0:29These are great for things like little
- 0:33little machinist parts that you're using
- 0:35all the time that you don't have a place
- 0:38for. They sit in the back of the drawer.
- 0:39You can put it in here, label them for
- 0:43drill bits you use, certain ones you
- 0:46really, really like, like expensive
- 0:48ones,
- 0:50your router bushing guides. I mean,
- 0:53there is all sorts of endless I mean I
- 0:56mean all sorts of uses for these like
- 0:59these router bushings. I mean
- 1:03engineer square which yep I can
- 1:05guarantee you isn't in here which is
- 1:07probably why I should put it in the
- 1:08bucket. These are router um sled
- 1:10flattening bits.
- 1:12They can go into one of these.
- 1:16Maybe not the taller one.
- 1:21Thank you to my mother for getting me a
- 1:23buttload of these. Um I use them I want
- 1:26to start using them more, but they're so
- 1:28great. Next gift. Usually you can buy
- 1:30these 10 bucks. I think this was seven
- 1:32bucks. Pack of um this is a 50 pack of
- 1:36these uh mechanic. They're called a
- 1:39mechanic. Um but they're just shop
- 1:40towels. Um I use them for rubbing in
- 1:44like certain stains and stuff. Like it's
- 1:46not a super expensive stain. It's like a
- 1:47quick stain job. if you spill some
- 1:49stuff. They they go like I go through
- 1:51them like paper towels, but they're so
- 1:53much better. Like I use them for
- 1:55different applying stains or um another
- 1:58good use for just making messes cleaning
- 2:01them up so you're not wasting all the
- 2:03paper towels in your house. You know,
- 2:04you don't just go through buttloads of
- 2:06rolls. Um just make sure you dispose of
- 2:09them properly cuz when they have certain
- 2:10chemicals on them, they can get kind of
- 2:11flammable.
- 2:12>> This is Sawdust reporting live with
- 2:13breaking news from LST woodworking.
- 2:14Officials say a completely avoidable
- 2:15fire started after hot shop rags were
- 2:16thrown into a garbage bin. Within
- 2:17minutes, the situation got completely
- 2:18rags and out of hand. Officials say the
- 2:19fire eventually damaged three buildings.
- 2:21Surface looks to claim you.
- 2:21>> No, man. Wrong guy. It wasn't me.
- 2:23>> Those are literally the rags.
- 2:24>> No, man. Wasn't me, man. I got to go.
- 2:25Hey, come back.
- 2:26>> All the stores have them. I just like to
- 2:27get them Harbor Freight. Doesn't matter
- 2:28to get them white. Um, red. I don't I
- 2:31just grabbed the first ones I see.
- 2:32Usually, I like the red ones. But, let's
- 2:34get into it. This is the Craig pocket
- 2:36hole jig combo kit I got for about $50
- 2:39when it was on sale. It includes your
- 2:42very own Craig pocket hole jig with the
- 2:44two bits needed and a little thingy
- 2:46clamp thing over there. And this alone,
- 2:49if you buy this just for like 20 or 30,
- 2:52um, it comes with indooroutdoor screws,
- 2:56but then you buy the starter kit with
- 2:59this. It's cheaper than just buying it
- 3:01alone. You get all these says what they
- 3:04are up here, what the different colors
- 3:06means, like waterproof and stuff. good
- 3:08gift if you're looking for something if
- 3:09somebody wants to start getting into
- 3:11woodworking. Pocket hole joinery is one
- 3:13of the easiest ways to start getting
- 3:14into woodworking. So, that might be a
- 3:16viable option. But this was about $40. I
- 3:19have lost these ones. I I have them in a
- 3:22bin. They just fell out of their spot.
- 3:25Um all this it was either 30 35 40 when
- 3:28it was on sale. It doesn't matter if
- 3:30it's this is a Cobalt brand. Doesn't
- 3:32matter if you want to buy the cobalt,
- 3:34the wall, whatever you see is in store
- 3:35and on a cheap, it doesn't matter. Um,
- 3:39and then you're going to want to buy
- 3:40your expensive paddle bits. You're going
- 3:41to want to buy your expensive, you know,
- 3:43you're going to use the Phillips and you
- 3:45know, learn what you use and whatever it
- 3:47is for what you're doing, whether it's
- 3:49epoxy, whatever you do, whatever you use
- 3:51the most. Really any bit you're going to
- 3:52need. You can buy them bigger, you can
- 3:53buy them smaller. Just also for general
- 3:56around the house, if you're a new
- 3:57homeowner, this is going to get you
- 3:58basically whatever you really need.
- 4:02Last thing I'm going to go over with you
- 4:03guys is kind of a last minute thing into
- 4:04the video. This fast cap um lefty righty
- 4:08tape measure. I love this thing. It all
- 4:10depends on the person if they'll like
- 4:12it, but the cool thing about this is on
- 4:15both sides it shows you. It's a little
- 4:17bit trippy and you got to get used to
- 4:18it. Not only does it have what we like
- 4:20to call the cheater marks for 16s, but
- 4:23no matter what side you're looking at,
- 4:25and it's not like Imperial Metric,
- 4:26they're both the same. You can get it in
- 4:28whichever, but you can see
- 4:31No matter what way you're looking, you
- 4:33can see the side. It's You could see the
- 4:36same thing. This is $9. It's got a
- 4:38pencil sharpener on the back. Nice clip.
- 4:41It's got This front is erasable. You can
- 4:43write on this with the pencil sharpener.
- 4:46You can take it, write, and you can
- 4:47erase this. So, you don't, you know, if
- 4:49you're always forgetting measurements
- 4:50and stuff, they make one that the tape
- 4:52itself is actually flat when you lay it
- 4:54down. But, this is $9 for one of them. I
- 4:57can't recommend this thing enough. I
- 4:58absolutely love this the fast cap lefty
- 5:02righty tape. I can't recommend this
- 5:04thing enough. As you can see, there's
- 5:05some measurements on it. Um,
- 5:08from when I was in carpentry class, I
- 5:10was doing things and a couple of these.
- 5:12Put them around the shop. They're as
- 5:14accurate as any other tapes I use.
- 5:16Little pro tip, by the way, when you're
- 5:17doing a project, only try to use one
- 5:19tape. It makes things a lot easier.
- 5:21And that's going to wrap up this video.
- 5:23Sorry, it's a little bit sunny out. um
- 5:25but of some things that you should buy
- 5:28or buy for somebody, you know, just you
