- 0:00So, you realize this is a little bit
- 0:02like asking me what is the best topping
- 0:05to put on a pizza, right? So, a lot of
- 0:07this is personal preference, and a lot
- 0:10of it depends on the context that you're
- 0:12in. Are you playing unaccompanied
- 0:14violin? Are you playing in a band with
- 0:16three guitar players? Are you playing in
- 0:18a jazz band? Like
- 0:19all of these things affect the way I
- 0:22would EQ an instrument. It also matters
- 0:24a lot what are you running the
- 0:26instrument through? What is your signal
- 0:28chain? Now, I'm going to do a
- 0:29demonstration for you of a couple of
- 0:31different EQ curves,
- 0:33and I'm just going to run straight into
- 0:34the HX Stomp, which it essentially be
- 0:36like running directly into your
- 0:38interface.
- 0:40But, if you're running through some
- 0:41pedals or through an amp, that's going
- 0:44to change all of this. So, this is the
- 0:46Yamaha YEV with no EQ whatsoever. This
- 0:50is just flat.
- 0:54>> [music]
- 0:56>> A lot of people will ask for more warmth
- 0:58in this fiddle, so I'm adding about 3 dB
- 1:01at 220.
- 1:05>> [music]
- 1:07>> Some people will ask for a little less
- 1:09of a nasal sound, so here's a 4 dB cut
- 1:12at 1 kHz.
- 1:17>> [music]
- 1:19>> Some people want a little less bite, so
- 1:22here's a 4 dB cut at 3.7 K.
- 1:27>> [music]
- 1:31>> Some people want more sparkle, so here's
- 1:34a 4 dB boost at 7 K.
