What's new in version 1.7.0? — Transcript

- 0:00It's been a while since I published a
- 0:02video about a release that I just
- 0:04published. In the past few weeks, I
- 0:05published so many releases and almost
- 0:08all of them were about increasing the
- 0:09reliability of the framework both for
- 0:12backtesting and live trading. However,
- 0:13today I released version 1.7 which has
- 0:16two things that I think are really
- 0:18important. Especially one of them adds a
- 0:20new feature that is just amazing. But I
- 0:23also want to mention the other thing
- 0:24that it adds which is it removes Talib
- 0:26as a painful dependency that we had
- 0:29which made the native installation for
- 0:31some people. And by removing that,
- 0:33setting up Jessie natively on almost any
- 0:35machine has become so easy. And starting
- 0:37this week, I'm going to release a
- 0:39step-by-step tutorials on how to set up
- 0:41Jessie on macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu
- 0:44machines. So with that out of the way,
- 0:46let's get to the feature that I wanted
- 0:48to show you. All right. So because this
- 0:49feature is related to backtesting, I'm
- 0:51going to execute one backtest just as an
- 0:53example so that I can show it to you in
- 0:55action. So I'm choosing the Bybit USDT
- 0:57perpetual as my exchange. As for the
- 1:00symbol, I'm choosing Tron USDT.
- 1:02And the time frame is 1 minute and this
- 1:05is a custom strategy that I wrote which
- 1:07is super risky. I don't want to get into
- 1:09the logic of the strategy but I think
- 1:11it's good for demo purposes. So as for
- 1:14the duration, I'm choosing 20th of
- 1:16January
- 1:17up until the next day. So this is just
- 1:19for 1 day. And because this feature is
- 1:21related to interactive charts, you need
- 1:23to make sure this option is enabled and
- 1:26everything else is fine. Right. Let's
- 1:28run it.
- 1:30And here's the result.
- 1:32It made crazy money. Again, this was an
- 1:34extremely risky strategy. Anyways, it
- 1:36executed 22 trades
- 1:39and here are some other factors that we
- 1:41can see.
- 1:42Now if I go to the view charts, now you
- 1:43remember on this page we were able to
- 1:46display some indicators whichever we
- 1:48wanted to which was really cool. And we
- 1:50could also see the trades, right?
- 1:52Just like this.
- 1:54So you see we entered a short position
- 1:55here and we closed it here. But in this
- 1:58one we shorted here, we shorted here, we
- 2:00shorted here and then we close it here.
- 2:01So it took us some time to close. But
- 2:04how do I know this?
- 2:05Cuz if you pay attention, it's not super
- 2:07clear, right? Well, here's a new
- 2:09feature. If I click on this show trades,
- 2:12I can see a table of the trades that it
- 2:13took. And I can also see the P&L of each
- 2:16trade. I can see its quantity and its
- 2:19entry price. So for instance, let's see
- 2:21which one was my biggest trade.
- 2:24It was this one, right? And if I want to
- 2:27find it on the chart, now I can click on
- 2:29this button and it will take me here.
- 2:33Right? So this is where the trade began.
- 2:36It's again kept shorting it, kept
- 2:38shorting it and then it hold the
- 2:40position until it closed it here. Now,
- 2:43let's say I didn't know this was also a
- 2:46part of this. I could just expand this
- 2:48trade and here are the orders. So I can
- 2:51click on this. So this is the beginning
- 2:53order. Again, this is selling. This one
- 2:56is also selling and this is the last
- 2:58order which closed it. So I can see the
- 3:00quantity here. I can see the order type.
- 3:03And if I want to see even more details,
- 3:05I can just click on any of the orders.
- 3:07And firstly, I can see the details of
- 3:10that single order in here. So this was a
- 3:12buy order, this is its type, the
- 3:14quantity and the time it was executed
- 3:16and created. But I can also see more
- 3:18details about the trade itself. So this
- 3:20was the entry price, this was the exit
- 3:21price, the quantity, the size which is
- 3:25the value of the trade, the P&L, the P&L
- 3:27in percentage, the fees that we paid and
- 3:30the holding period. So for this trade, I
- 3:32can see I hold the position for 2 hours.
- 3:34This is when it was open and this is
- 3:36when it was closed.
- 3:38So there you go, guys. I think this is a
- 3:39game-changer when it comes to doing
- 3:41research for a strategy because it
- 3:43allows me to find my best and worst
- 3:46trades very quickly so I can see them on
- 3:48the chart. And maybe I can even display
- 3:50some indicators alongside with it so I
- 3:52can use that data to maybe filter out
- 3:54some of the trades that I shouldn't have
- 3:55been taken, or maybe I can see which
- 3:57trades are working, so I can adjust my
- 4:00strategy to maybe only take those
- 4:02trades. Now, of course, we need to be
- 4:03careful about overfitting here, because
- 4:05if you try to only keep the trades that
- 4:07are good and leave out any losing trade,
- 4:10you're going to overfit your strategy.
- 4:11But nonetheless, this is an invaluable
- 4:13tool, and I'm glad that we have it now.
- 4:15Thank you guys for watching. I will see
- 4:17you in the next one.
