What's new in Jesse version 1.11.0 — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hey guys, it's Al. Today I released
- 0:01version 1.11 of Jesse and it adds some
- 0:04[music] essential features to the
- 0:06framework. But before we continue, I got
- 0:07to mention yes, I did shave my head and
- 0:10no, it is not because I lost a bit. So
- 0:12with that out of the way, let's get to
- 0:13this release. Now, the first feature you
- 0:16should know that I added is Monte Carlo
- 0:18simulations, but I already add a video
- 0:19about this like 3 weeks ago. So if you
- 0:22haven't watched that, make sure to give
- 0:23it a watch. And in case you haven't
- 0:24checked the documentation, here it is.
- 0:26So under the research module and Monte
- 0:28Carlo you can find it. You can find
- 0:30everything including some ready to run
- 0:32scripts so that you can just run it
- 0:34yourself. But the thing is for now it's
- 0:36only inside the research module. But
- 0:38definitely soon I'm going to add this to
- 0:40the UI dashboard. And when I do
- 0:42everybody will be able to run Monte
- 0:44Carlo simulations just with the click of
- 0:46a button. I don't want to spend more
- 0:47time in this video talking about Monte
- 0:49Carlo because I already did. But I'd
- 0:51like to show you the feature that I
- 0:52added like literally just a few days ago
- 0:55and that is full database
- 0:56synchronization for back test. Now what
- 0:58the heck does that mean? Well, [snorts]
- 1:00it means that from now on whenever you
- 1:02execute a back test the result of it
- 1:04will be stored in the database. So
- 1:06before for example if you executed the
- 1:08back test and refresh the page yes you
- 1:10would have still seen the result but if
- 1:13you close the tab it would have been
- 1:14disappeared forever. So let's say you
- 1:16did some research one week ago and you
- 1:18really liked the result of the strategy
- 1:20you were seeing back then and now very
- 1:22quickly you want to see it again without
- 1:24going to find the strategy or executing
- 1:26it again. Like imagine if it takes a
- 1:28long time to execute it, right? Well,
- 1:30now if you open the back test page
- 1:32inside Jess dashboard and go to the
- 1:35history page which is new, you can find
- 1:37all the previously executed back test
- 1:40here. Now in my case, I haven't been
- 1:41doing much research since I released
- 1:43this. So there's just four items here.
- 1:45But if I click on one of them, you can
- 1:47see I will be redirected to the result
- 1:50very quickly. And I can see everything
- 1:52including the equity curve, the
- 1:54performance results and the details of
- 1:56the back test that I executed in the
- 1:58first place. And if that back test like
- 2:00this one was also using the interactive
- 2:03chart feature of JC, I can also see the
- 2:06charts here. So if I click on here, you
- 2:08can see there is the chart. And by the
- 2:10way, I also improved the UI of the chart
- 2:12in this release. So now it looks
- 2:13significantly more beautiful and that is
- 2:16just really helpful. But that's not all.
- 2:18There's more. So let's say in this case
- 2:20I really like the result of this. So
- 2:22when I go to the history page, I want to
- 2:24be able to very quickly distinguish this
- 2:26one. I want to know which one was the
- 2:28most awesome back test that I executed.
- 2:30So I can go here and I can give it a
- 2:33title. So let's call it my most
- 2:38awesome back test. And not only I can
- 2:40give it a title, by the way, I can also
- 2:42add some description here. And there is
- 2:44a full editor here. So you can put
- 2:46whatever you want, including some code
- 2:48in here. And I can save it. And now if I
- 2:51go back to the history page, you can see
- 2:53it has this title. But let's say you
- 2:56have like hundreds or even thousands of
- 2:57backs, right? So I can go here and
- 3:00search for it. So I can just look up the
- 3:02word awesome and this one single result
- 3:05will show up and I can just find it very
- 3:07quickly. If I go back to the history
- 3:09page, you can see we also have this
- 3:10option to purge previous back test. So
- 3:13after a while, this page is going to get
- 3:16really heavy. You may have hundreds or
- 3:18thousands of back test. And depending on
- 3:20the resources on your machine, it may
- 3:22get a little bit heavy and you may need
- 3:24to purge some of the old back test that
- 3:26you don't use anymore. So you can come
- 3:27here and choose this option to purge the
- 3:30previous ones. There's also some other
- 3:31filters here. So for example, you can
- 3:33only get the ones that have been
- 3:35finished and not stopped or canceled or
- 3:37whatever. And you can also filter them
- 3:38by some date. Now again that's not all.
- 3:41There's one more cool feature. So let's
- 3:43say when I executed this awesome back
- 3:46test. It was like a month ago and since
- 3:49then I have kept working on my strategy
- 3:51code and the code of it is no longer
- 3:53what it was a month ago. But I'm at a
- 3:56point that I'm thinking okay the result
- 3:58I was getting a month ago was actually
- 4:00better. So what was the exact code that
- 4:02I was running back then? Now, if this is
- 4:04the question you have, if you find that
- 4:06record, you can see there's a new
- 4:08button. It's called view strategy
- 4:10snapshot. If you click on it, you can
- 4:13see what was the exact code when I
- 4:15executed this back test. Now, if I need
- 4:17to copy it, I can just click here. Or if
- 4:19I need to edit the current version of
- 4:21the strategy, I can click here and it
- 4:23will take me to the built-in editor of
- 4:26JS's dashboard. Now, that's it for now.
- 4:28But this whole back test synchronization
- 4:30wasn't just about the features that I
- 4:32just showed you. It was the basic that I
- 4:34needed in order to implement so much
- 4:37more into Jesse. And now that we have
- 4:39it, I'm going to implement the new
- 4:40features for back testing at least so
- 4:43much faster than before. Now at this
- 4:44point, we have full database
- 4:45synchronization for back test and
- 4:47optimization in one of the previous
- 4:49releases, which leaves us only with the
- 4:52live mode. So yes, live mode is also
- 4:54going to get the same update and when it
- 4:56does it will also get so much new
- 4:59features. Now I don't want to spoil
- 5:00anything but I am very excited about it.
- 5:02Now before I leave, I have a small
- 5:04announcement to make. Now you guys know
- 5:05that Apex is my favorite decentralized
