2. 0:00this guy's coming and she's seriously
3. 0:01lame we spotted out on the way in and i
4. 0:04wanted to make sure that we kept an eye
5. 0:06on which cow it was coming off the race
6. 0:08as you can see the problem is not
7. 0:10obvious
8. 0:11this is the hoof gp and hopefully we can
9. 0:14find out what's wrong with this cow

11. 0:19it's not immediately apparent what's
12. 0:21wrong with this cow's hoof but we've all
13. 0:24just witnessed our walk out of the shed
14. 0:25so we all know that she is in incredible
15. 0:28pain
16. 0:29we also know it's this back right foot
17. 0:30that's given her the problem because she
18. 0:32can barely bring herself to even touch
19. 0:34the ground with this who the problems
20. 0:36now become obvious to me
21. 0:38is it obvious to you
22. 0:40this cow has a pocket of infection
23. 0:42within the white line of that outer claw
24. 0:45and these problems are extremely hard
25. 0:47for the cow to hide them
26. 0:48this carrot literally couldn't touch the
27. 0:51ground with this food so i knew it was
28. 0:52going to be something like this

31. 1:06on the perfect cow's foot the sole of
32. 1:08the hoof is only around five millimeters
33. 1:10thick so when you have a problem like
34. 1:12this and need to remove overburdening
35. 1:14hoof horn you're working within really
36. 1:16tight constraints and if we break those
37. 1:18boundaries if we go too far we're going
38. 1:20to create a seriously major problem for
39. 1:23this cow

41. 1:29see that hole right there that tracks
42. 1:31all the way up to aquarium the corium is
43. 1:34the fleshy part of her foot within the
44. 1:36hoof capsule it's a bit that everybody
45. 1:38used to call the quick in years gone by
46. 1:40but now it sounds much more technical
47. 1:42and like we really know what we're
48. 1:44talking about if we call it the corium
49. 1:47the quick's job its sole purpose in life
50. 1:50is to form or grow all of the soul horn
51. 1:52that we can see right now so all of the
52. 1:54hoof horn that we can see on the base of
53. 1:56the foot has been formed by the quick or
54. 1:58the aquarium so if anything bad happens
55. 2:00to it it can be absolutely cataclysmic
56. 2:03for the cat's future

58. 2:07if we peer up into this hole we can see
59. 2:09there is still overrun over burdening or
60. 2:12overhanging hoof horn either way we put
61. 2:15it it's detached too far that needs to
62. 2:17be removed so we apply the block and
63. 2:19then crack out the knife

67. 2:40as we need to go but we can see there is
68. 2:43still actually dirt within that hole and
69. 2:45there is still detach to form if you
70. 2:48look around the edge that i'm working on
71. 2:50right now you'll see there's some
72. 2:51translucent pothorn and you can see that
73. 2:54there's gray parts that gray part lets
74. 2:57me know that it's detached and there's a
75. 2:59space underneath this reform
76. 3:01and as we're all just about to see i was
77. 3:03right to go a little bit further

80. 3:11healthy food when we first picked it up
81. 3:14and now look what we found going all the
82. 3:16way right down to aquarium
83. 3:18i think it actually tracks right up the
84. 3:20front wall but we're not gonna take much

86. 3:23we'll just reduce the height of here

88. 3:37and here's the moment that we'll make
89. 3:39the real difference to the cow
90. 3:43if we watch as this claret begins to
91. 3:44appear look within it there's pus
92. 3:47flowing out of that cavity and as you
93. 3:49can see that claret isn't very clarity
94. 3:52at all in fact it's really dark and that
95. 3:54lets us know that there's an infection
96. 3:56within there but our time as a hooftimer
97. 3:59comes to an end we don't go any further
98. 4:01than this and even if we were allowed to
99. 4:03we still wouldn't because this is far
100. 4:05enough
101. 4:06now if we flash our before and after up
102. 4:09on the screen here
103. 4:10it looks much worse after the trim is
104. 4:13complete but she's going to be way more
105. 4:14comfortable and she will be on the road
106. 4:16to recovery and that's what matters
107. 4:18that's a functional
108. 4:19catalogue trim
109. 4:23this cow was incredibly lame but she
110. 4:25couldn't even touch the ground
111. 4:27and problems like this arise from cows
112. 4:29turning tight corners or slipping or
113. 4:32bashing themselves and they get an
114. 4:33abscess in behind that hoof wall and
115. 4:35that hoof wall cannot flex properly so
116. 4:38the abscess builds up pressure and
117. 4:40becomes incredibly sore for the cow by
118. 4:42removing that overburdening horn and
119. 4:44therefore removing the pressure buildup
120. 4:46we have reduced this cow's pain levels
121. 4:48and hopefully she should be able to put
122. 4:50weight on this when she walks out of the
123. 4:52craft if we just glance back to how she
124. 4:54was before the trim clearly she's in a
125. 4:56huge amount of pain and doesn't want to
126. 4:58touch the ground

129. 5:11am very happy with how this trim turned
