1. 0:01The church is the building we go to when
2. 0:03we want to learn about God.
3. 0:05Nope. This is a church.
4. 0:07Those are people.
5. 0:09Yep. In fact, it's you and me.
6. 0:12You kind of lost me.
7. 0:14The church isn't a building. The church
8. 0:16is the people who have made Jesus the
9. 0:18leader of their lives. And that's us. We
10. 0:21don't go to church, we are the church.
11. 0:24And we exist for the world.
12. 0:26Oh, okay.
13. 0:28I still don't get it.
14. 0:30Let's look in the book of Acts. That's
15. 0:32where the Bible talks about the very
16. 0:33first church. The people who first
17. 0:35believed in Jesus. They didn't have
18. 0:37buildings to meet in, so they met where
19. 0:39they could, usually in people's homes.
20. 0:42So, their church was a house?
21. 0:44Nope. The church met in houses. Even
22. 0:47then, the church was the people.
23. 0:49And the apostles taught them many things
24. 0:51about God. They did great and wonderful
25. 0:53things with God's power. God did amazing
26. 0:55things through everyone in the church.
27. 0:57Through all the people? How?
28. 1:00The people of early church put others
29. 1:02first. They prayed together, they shared
30. 1:04meals, they shared their time, they
31. 1:07shared everything.
32. 1:08Everything?
33. 1:09Really? Are you sure?
34. 1:11Sure, I'm sure. The Bible tells us that
35. 1:13when one of them needed something,
36. 1:15others shared what they had. They even
37. 1:17sold things and used the money to help
38. 1:19out.
39. 1:20That's amazing.
40. 1:21That's putting others first. The early
41. 1:24church was really good at it. For
42. 1:26instance, this one guy, Joseph, sold a
43. 1:28field and brought the money to the
44. 1:30people of the church to help those who
45. 1:32needed it.
46. 1:32Awesome. What made them do that?
47. 1:34They all agreed. They all wanted to live
48. 1:37like Jesus, and the apostles told them
49. 1:39how Jesus put others first when he died
50. 1:41on the cross and went up to heaven.
51. 1:43The early church learned about Jesus and
52. 1:46lived like him. So, they put others
53. 1:48first. I think I get it.
54. 1:50Great. But, you haven't heard the best
55. 1:51part. When others saw how those first
56. 1:54church people lived, it made them want
57. 1:56to follow Jesus too.
58. 1:58In fact, more people decided to follow
59. 2:00Jesus every single day.
60. 2:02Wow, God did do amazing things through
61. 2:05the first church people.
62. 2:06And God still does amazing things
63. 2:08through his people when they live like
64. 2:10Jesus and put others first.
65. 2:11Right, because we are the church.
66. 2:14And we exist for the world.
