- 0:00What if I told you that the secret to
- 0:02doubling your profits isn't selling
- 0:03more, it's managing what you already
- 0:06have better?
- 0:08Today, I'm breaking down inventory
- 0:10management in the simplest way possible.
- 0:13First things first, what exactly is
- 0:15inventory management? Simply put, it's
- 0:18tracking and controlling everything you
- 0:20have in stock. Whether you're running a
- 0:22small online shop or managing a
- 0:24warehouse, you need to know what
- 0:27products you have, how much you have,
- 0:29where they are, when to order more.
- 0:31Think of it like your kitchen at home.
- 0:33You check what groceries you have,
- 0:34what's running low, and what you need to
- 0:36buy. Businesses do the same thing, just
- 0:39on a bigger scale. Good inventory
- 0:42management means you always have enough
- 0:44products to sell, but not so many that
- 0:47money is stuck in items sitting on
- 0:48shelves. It's all about balance.
- 0:52So, why should you care about this? Let
- 0:55me give you three big reasons. Number
- 0:57one, save money. When you manage
- 1:00inventory well, you don't waste money on
- 1:02products that sit around collecting
- 1:04dust. You also avoid rush orders that
- 1:06cost extra. Number two, keep customers
- 1:10happy. Nothing frustrates customers more
- 1:12than out of stock messages. Good
- 1:15inventory management means you have what
- 1:17people want when they want it. Number
- 1:20three, make better decisions. When you
- 1:23track your inventory properly, you see
- 1:25patterns. You know what sells fast, what
- 1:28sells slow, and what time of year
- 1:30different products move. This data is
- 1:34pure gold. Bad inventory management that
- 1:37leads to lost sales, unhappy customers,
- 1:40wasted money, and stress. Nobody wants
- 1:43that. Now, here's where it gets
- 1:45interesting. There are four major
- 1:47methods that successful businesses use
- 1:50to manage their inventory. I'm going to
- 1:52give you a quick overview of each one
- 1:54today. And here's the best part. I've
- 1:56created detailed in-depth videos on each
- 1:59method. So, stick around because I'll
- 2:01link those at the end and in the
- 2:03description.
- 2:05Let's break them down. First up, we have
- 2:08days sales of inventory or DSI.
- 2:12This method answers one simple question.
- 2:15How long does it take to sell all my
- 2:17inventory? Imagine you run a shoe store.
- 2:21DS I tells you that it takes say 45 days
- 2:25on average to sell through all your
- 2:26shoes. That's powerful information. If
- 2:29that number is too high, you're holding
- 2:31inventory too long and money is stuck.
- 2:34If it's too low, you might run out of
- 2:36stock too quickly. DSI helps you find
- 2:39that sweet spot. Want to learn the exact
- 2:42formula and how to calculate it for your
- 2:44business? I've got a complete video
- 2:46breaking down DSI step by step. I'll
- 2:48link it at the end. Next, we have
- 2:51economic order quantity or EOQ.
- 2:55This one answers the question, how much
- 2:58should I order at one time?
- 3:00Order too little and you're constantly
- 3:02placing orders and paying shipping fees
- 3:05over and over. order too much and you're
- 3:08tying up cash in inventory sitting in
- 3:10your warehouse.
- 3:12EOQ uses a formula to find the perfect
- 3:15order amount that minimizes your total
- 3:18costs. It balances ordering costs with
- 3:21storage costs. Pretty smart, right? This
- 3:24method is especially useful if you're
- 3:26ordering from suppliers regularly. I've
- 3:29created a full video showing you exactly
- 3:31how EOQ works with real examples.
- 3:34Definitely check that out. It's linked
- 3:36below. The third method is materials
- 3:39requirement planning or MRP. This one is
- 3:43perfect if you manufacture products or
- 3:45assemble items. Here's the deal. MRP
- 3:49helps you figure out what materials you
- 3:51need, how much you need, and when you
- 3:53need them based on your production
- 3:54schedule. Let's say you make custom
- 3:57furniture.
- 3:58MRP looks at your orders and tells you,
- 4:00"Okay, you need 50 wood planks by next
- 4:03Tuesday, 30 cans of varnish by Thursday,
- 4:06and 100 screws by Friday."
- 4:09It keeps your production running
- 4:10smoothly without overstocking materials.
- 4:13MRP gets a bit technical, so I made an
- 4:16entire video explaining how it works and
- 4:19which businesses benefit most from it.
- 4:21Link is in the description.
- 4:24Finally, we have just in time management
- 4:26or JIT.
- 4:28This is probably the most interesting
- 4:30method. The idea, you order inventory
- 4:34only when you need it, right before
- 4:35you're about to use it or sell it. This
- 4:38means you keep almost zero extra
- 4:39inventory sitting around. You save on
- 4:42storage costs and reduce waste. Sounds
- 4:45perfect, right? Well, there's a catch.
- 4:48JIT requires excellent relationships
- 4:50with suppliers and very accurate
- 4:52forecasting. If something goes wrong,
- 4:54you can run out of stock fast. Companies
- 4:57like Toyota made this method famous, but
- 4:59it's not for everyone. Curious if JIT is
- 5:03right for your business? I've got a
- 5:05dedicated video that dives deep into the
- 5:07pros, cons, and how to implement it.
- 5:10Make sure to watch that next.
- 5:13So, here's the million-doll question.
- 5:15Which method should you use? The truth
- 5:18is, it depends on your business. If you
- 5:21want to measure efficiency, start with
- 5:23DSI. If you're focused on reducing
- 5:25ordering costs, EOQ is your friend. If
- 5:29you manufacture products, MRP is
- 5:31essential. If you want to minimize
- 5:33storage and waste, explore JIT.
- 5:37Many successful businesses actually use
- 5:39a combination of these methods. The key
- 5:41is understanding each one and choosing
- 5:43what fits your specific situation. And
- 5:46that's exactly why I created those four
- 5:48detailed videos. so you can deep dive
- 5:51into each method and make the right
- 5:52choice. All right, that's inventory
- 5:55management in a nutshell. If you found
- 5:57this helpful, smash that like button and
- 6:00subscribe so you don't miss future
- 6:02videos. If you want to read it in detail
- 6:05or download the PDF, go through the link
- 6:08in the description. Drop a comment below
- 6:10and tell me um which inventory method
- 6:13are you most excited to learn about.
- 6:16Thanks for watching and I'll see you in
- 6:18the next video.
