- 0:00hey Spencer well cheer and today we're
- 0:02gonna talk about head voice so what is
- 0:12head voice well in our last video we
- 0:15spoke about chest voice which is the
- 0:18lower region or range of your voice
- 0:21which means that head voice is the very
- 0:24opposite it's the upper region or range
- 0:27of your voice where you probably don't
- 0:30speak head voice gets its name because
- 0:32it can often feel like the sympathetic
- 0:35vibrations lift up into your head as you
- 0:38sing in those ranges as I do that I feel
- 0:45the vibrations move from my chest all
- 0:47the way up into my head as I move from
- 0:50chest voice to head voice now remember
- 0:53don't get a complex about this this is
- 0:56somewhat subjective and so don't worry
- 0:59if you don't feel it exactly the way
- 1:01that I do how do we find head voice
- 1:04number one pick a high-pitch humming or
- 1:11whimper it like a puppy dog number two
- 1:13pick a closed vowel like an O or an E
- 1:18something that shuts your mouth down a
- 1:20bit ooh number three pick a quieter
- 1:25volume don't belt this sucker gently
- 1:28like this oh if you make this sound like
- 1:34an owl hooting with a high pitch a
- 1:36closed vowel a quieter volume that is
- 1:40your head voice my friends now some of
- 1:43you may be saying Spencer what you're
- 1:45calling head voice sounds an awful lot
- 1:47to me like falsetto and you know what
- 1:50you would be right what do head voice
- 1:53and falsetto have in common well they
- 1:56both tend to happen in the upper range
- 1:58of our
- 1:59so falsetto oh and head voice ah ah in
- 2:07both cases I know I'm not in my chest
- 2:10voice
- 2:10number two in both cases singers tend to
- 2:14feel more sympathetic vibrations in the
- 2:17head not in the chest
- 2:19so falsetto oh definitely heavier also
- 2:27heavier in the sensation now what's the
- 2:30difference falsetto is the lightest
- 2:33possible sound a human being can make
- 2:35the muscles inside the vocal cords do
- 2:38not contract and so therefore just the
- 2:41top edge of the vocal fold starts to
- 2:44come together vocal fold vocal chords
- 2:46it's the same thing in head voice those
- 2:50muscles inside the vocal folds or vocal
- 2:53cords start to contract and so therefore
- 2:56we start to get a bit more contact
- 2:59between the vocal folds and so a fuller
- 3:02more complex sound so instead of
- 3:08falsetto OH
- 3:12falsetto is gonna produce a sound that's
- 3:14very hollow a sine wave like oh this is
- 3:19a test of the emergency Network what is
- 3:23that head voice is deeper than falsetto
- 3:27it's richer and fuller than falsetto but
- 3:31it tends to be lighter than chest voice
- 3:34what this means is that head voice is
- 3:37able to connect with your chest voice
- 3:40when you move from your chest voice the
- 3:43lower range where you tend to speak to
- 3:45falsetto
- 3:46you are probably gonna get a yodel oh
- 3:49and we call that a great chest voice
- 3:55falsetto however when you move from
- 3:58chest voice to head voice you can do
- 4:01that without a break chest voice ah head
- 4:06boys ah back to chest voice without
- 4:11there being a break without there being
- 4:12and uh so as you're singing a song if
- 4:18you want it to sound like a similar
- 4:20color from the bottom to the top you
- 4:22want it to sound like your natural voice
- 4:24ah ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma mom's you
- 4:31will need to develop your head voice
- 4:33where as if for a special effect yeah
- 4:37you want it to yodel you want it to
- 4:39break on purpose then use falsetto so in
- 4:42another video we're gonna talk about how
- 4:44to strengthen your head voice and
- 4:46develop that but for now thank you so
- 4:49much for watching this video if you
- 4:51enjoyed it please give us a like please
- 4:54comment and support us by subscribing to
- 4:57the channel so you don't miss any of the
- 4:59videos that are coming your way
- 5:00thanks and keep saying
- 5:06you
