- 0:00You get lucky by staying in the game
- 0:02long enough for luck to find you.
- 0:06You cannot beat someone who has already
- 0:08decided that they will do whatever it
- 0:09takes for as long as it takes. And so
- 0:12that person, if anyone could do it, it
- 0:15might as well be you.
- 0:16At least that is how I think through
- 0:18these things.
- 0:19Because there's there's really only one
- 0:21belief that you need to win,
- 0:24which is belief in your ability to
- 0:25figure it out.
- 0:27That's it.
- 0:29Start, and you'll figure out the rest.
- 0:32Because sometimes you have to be the
- 0:34only one who believes in you. And we are
- 0:36rewarded as entrepreneurs and human
- 0:38beings
- 0:40for believing in ourselves more than
- 0:41other people do.
- 0:43Like that is that is the gift that we
- 0:45get. And that is why entrepreneurs earn
- 0:48disproportionately more
- 0:51than others.
- 0:52And not all entrepreneurs. In fact, the
- 0:54vast majority of entrepreneurs make
- 0:56less.
- 0:57But
- 0:59there are a select few entrepreneurs who
- 1:01make significantly more. And it's
- 1:02because they were able to stick with the
- 1:04uncommon path for an extended period of
- 1:07time long after it made sense reasonably
- 1:11for them to stop, said no to imaginary
- 1:14opportunities in their minds, and were
- 1:16willing to make trades that other people
- 1:17were not.
- 1:19And so right now,
- 1:21like everything that we want in our
- 1:23lives
- 1:24is a few trades away
- 1:26from where we currently are. It's just
- 1:28that the trades that we have to make are
- 1:30trades that are so deeply embedded in
- 1:32our belief system that we don't even see
- 1:34them as possibilities.
- 1:37And so one of my favorite quotes of all
- 1:38time comes from Orson Scott Card. He's
- 1:40the He's the writer of Ender's Game.
- 1:41This is my adaptation, so paraphrasing.
- 1:44We believe Sorry. We question all of our
- 1:47beliefs except for those that we truly
- 1:50believe. And those we never think to
- 1:52question.
- 1:53And so the reason that sadness is is
- 1:55lack of options is means that we have
- 1:57beliefs that we are that are so deeply
- 1:59ingrained in us that we aren't even
- 2:01cognizant. We are not even conscious of
- 2:04the fact that we believe these things so
- 2:06deeply because they are so embedded in
- 2:08our reality that we cannot see reality
- 2:10without them.
- 2:11And this is why like a great amount of
- 2:13my time has been dedicated to to
- 2:15defining terms and defining words so
- 2:17that I could try and see reality more
- 2:19clearly.
- 2:21And I think that if you see someone
- 2:23who's able to consistently get what they
- 2:25want,
- 2:27it's because they're able to make better
- 2:29trades or better bets than you are.
- 2:32And so it is always worth learning from
- 2:33anyone
- 2:35who gets what they want
- 2:37because you can model aspects of their
- 2:39behavior and then more importantly
- 2:41aspects of the weights that they put on
- 2:44decision-making to predict outcomes.
- 2:47Cuz the better you get at that, the more
- 2:49you get what you want.
- 2:51And if you don't have what you want,
- 2:52then that is the skill deficiency. It's
- 2:54that you do not see reality as it is,
- 2:55you see reality as you want it to be,
- 2:57which is not reality. It is distortion.
- 2:59If you like this video and you're
