What happens when you journal EVERY DAY? How I entirely transformed myself through years of writing! — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I have been journaling every day for 3
- 0:03years, 1 month, and 4 days. And in
- 0:06today's video, I'm going to show you
- 0:08guys the results that I got from
- 0:09journaling every day, and how you can
- 0:11apply what I have learned to your own
- 0:13life for your own personal
- 0:15transformation journey. Hi guys, welcome
- 0:18back or welcome to my channel. My name
- 0:20is Leilani. I like to go over topics
- 0:22such as selfdevelopment, transformation.
- 0:25I speak a lot on spirituality. I also
- 0:29speak on manifestation and subliminals.
- 0:31And as you already know, today's topic
- 0:33is going to be all about journaling and
- 0:36the effects that it will have on you if
- 0:38you commit to journaling daily. Without
- 0:41wasting any more time, I'm going to go
- 0:43straight into the topic of today. So,
- 0:49I began journaling as a part of a
- 0:52self-development journey. I initially
- 0:54tried journaling when I was in my
- 0:57sophomore slashjunior year of high
- 1:00school, but I ultimately dropped out
- 1:03because I was anxious that somebody
- 1:06would open up and find my journal and
- 1:09read it. I also didn't have the
- 1:11discipline and the persistence to keep
- 1:14journaling every single day. But I think
- 1:16the majority of people are reluctant to
- 1:19journal because they are afraid of
- 1:21somebody reading their journal entries
- 1:25when they are entering their true
- 1:28feelings. Now I I completely understand
- 1:31why you afraid and yes there is the
- 1:34possibility that somebody is going to
- 1:37read your journal but it is your
- 1:38responsibility to keep that journal
- 1:41hidden away where nobody is going to
- 1:43find it. In the first two months of my
- 1:47journaling journey, somebody actually
- 1:50read a very, very private page of my
- 1:53journal and blamed me for their
- 1:56snitching on it, which was really
- 1:58embarrassing because they read something
- 2:00that I was trying to manifest and it
- 2:02actually ended up breaking the
- 2:03manifestation for me. So, please, please
- 2:07be super mindful about where you're
- 2:09keeping your journals. Anyway, let's
- 2:11redirect to the topic.
- 2:14So, I began journaling because I lacked
- 2:18order. Naturally, I'm a personality who
- 2:21seeks order. I like to create order out
- 2:25of chaos. A lot of you watching may not
- 2:28feel the same way or have a natural
- 2:30tendency to organize chaos. Some of you
- 2:33might be more of prospecting type
- 2:36personalities who are more go with the
- 2:38flow be type personalities. And that's
- 2:41okay. You don't have to change who you
- 2:43are if you don't want to. Journaling is
- 2:46a powerful transformative tool to change
- 2:50yourself based on your observations of
- 2:52your habits, your thoughts, your
- 2:55self-perceptions,
- 2:56etc. So, you can journal for basically
- 3:00any reason. If you want to change your
- 3:03personality, you can journal about it
- 3:06and make it into a reality. A lot of
- 3:09people believe that personality isn't
- 3:12malleable, but trust me, I actually
- 3:14changed my personality through three
- 3:16years of hard work. For example, I went
- 3:20from being very
- 3:23inconsistent with homework, with chores,
- 3:26with building my career. And I'd say I'm
- 3:30pretty conscientious now. And I've also
- 3:32went from being a pretty hardcore
- 3:34introvert to being more on the
- 3:37ambbervert/exttroverted
- 3:38side. And I'm also developing more
- 3:41empathy for others. And please keep in
- 3:44mind there are plenty of other variables
- 3:46that play into your personality like
- 3:48your culture, your geographic location,
- 3:51and even medical influences.
- 3:55They can play into your personality.
- 3:57They can shape your personality. The
- 4:00first month I started journaling
- 4:02consistently, it was really, really
- 4:04uncomfortable. I didn't like reading my
- 4:06own handwriting. And yes, I did
- 4:08physically write my journal entries
- 4:10instead of typing them onto a phone, an
- 4:13iPad, or a computer just because I felt
- 4:15like my handwriting is authentic. And it
- 4:20helps get any energy or emotion that is
- 4:24turbulent inside of my body onto that
- 4:27sheet of paper.
- 4:29So, I'm going to reiterate this again.
- 4:32Yes, journaling is amazing for self
- 4:34transformation, but it's also amazing
- 4:36for emotional regulation as well. If
- 4:39you're struggling with anxiety,
- 4:41depression, or any other mental health
- 4:44crisis or even if you just have like
- 4:47anger issues or other emotional
- 4:49problems, please, please journal. It is
- 4:52so helpful. And I'm not saying that
- 4:54journaling is the prime source of
- 4:57getting your emotions in check. Please
- 4:59reach out to a mental health
- 5:00professional because I am not one of
- 5:02those people. Please consult a therapist
- 5:05or a psychiatrist if you are in serious
- 5:09need of getting help. So yes, I kind of
- 5:14sucked at my journal entries for the
- 5:16first two 3 months of journaling. And
- 5:20then what really kind of brought it down
- 5:22for me was that somebody like I had
- 5:25reiterated before read a journal entry
- 5:28because when I first started my journal
- 5:30entries, a lot of them were about
- 5:31manifestation and manifesting more
- 5:33friends and more meaningful
- 5:35relationships and also dependence
- 5:37because at the time I was struggling
- 5:40with finding who I am and journaling to
- 5:43me was almost a way of finding who I was
- 5:46meant to be and what my purpose was. And
- 5:50instead of just journaling by itself, I
- 5:52would actually go 1 2 3 months back or
- 5:56as far back as I could go and look at
- 6:00the progress that I had made from my
- 6:02journal entries. Like for example, me 3
- 6:06years ago today would be in a state of
- 6:09insecurity, doubt. I had a lot of inner
- 6:13gaps that I had to fill. I was very
- 6:15unhappy with my relationships and I
- 6:16thought everybody was plotting against
- 6:19me. Compared to now I have the partner
- 6:22of my dreams. I have a very strong
- 6:24relationship with my family. I have
- 6:26amazing co-workers. I am I give my whole
- 6:31being into all of my relationships. Like
- 6:34back then me would just halfass
- 6:37everything. Seriously, if you have
- 6:39relationships that you want to improve
- 6:41on, please journal. And seriously, I
- 6:44know I'm getting repetitive with all of
- 6:46this, but I really want to emphasize
- 6:47just how powerful journaling is because
- 6:51looking at your old progress compared to
- 6:53what you've made now is a source of
- 6:55motivation. Journaling is a massive
- 6:59source of motivation. It's intrinsic,
- 7:02too. Intrinsic motivation is the most
- 7:04meaningful motivation you can find
- 7:07compared to exttrinsic motivation. You
- 7:09will find no external reward that is as
- 7:12satisfying as seeing your own progress
- 7:15within your own handwriting. Let's skip
- 7:18forward about six months from now. I had
- 7:20just entered college and I am a
- 7:22freshman. I am majoring in psychology
- 7:26uh/HR
- 7:28and I'm just taking a few credits
- 7:30because I'm not disciplined enough to be
- 7:32a full-time student while working
- 7:34part-time at the same time. I was in
- 7:37PSO, so I wasn't graduated from high
- 7:40school. But during that time was when I
- 7:44really really started to work on myself
- 7:46because I kept reading my past entries
- 7:49and began to realize how much I was
- 7:52holding back my own potential. You guys,
- 7:55I want you to reflect on the fact that
- 7:58almost all suffering is within the mind.
- 8:01In the religion Buddhism, it is actually
- 8:04said that the source of all suffering is
- 8:06within the mind. No matter how traumatic
- 8:09the external event may be, it is truly
- 8:13within all of your power to control your
- 8:16reactions.
- 8:17Like
- 8:19I began to realize that I can't control
- 8:21the circumstances
- 8:24that I couldn't control like other
- 8:26people's thoughts about me, other
- 8:28people's opinions. I used to be very
- 8:32insecure about what other people were
- 8:33thinking about me, especially as a
- 8:36natural introvert who grew up in
- 8:37isolation. It was heart-wrenching for me
- 8:41to face rejection or just any form of
- 8:45disapproval. And then as the months came
- 8:47on, I began to have a more social life,
- 8:50but it didn't necessarily get better
- 8:52because there were still a lot of areas
- 8:54that I was very blind to, especially in
- 8:58terms of relationships. I got into
- 9:00multiple relationships within the span
- 9:03of just one year. It wasn't necessarily
- 9:07difficult for me, but I did learn a lot
- 9:09of lessons. Like in my journal entries,
- 9:12I was constantly writing down red flags
- 9:14about these partners that I was ignoring
- 9:17because my natural tendency is to see
- 9:19the best in people. And to be honest, I
- 9:23did ignore my intuition when it was
- 9:25telling me to run away. when I was
- 9:27running towards the person that I was
- 9:29trying to commit to and no matter how
- 9:31poorly they treated me or how lowc
- 9:36caliber they were compared to myself, I
- 9:38was committed because I truly saw the
- 9:40best in people and it backfired
- 9:43terribly. The truth is I had to sit in
- 9:46my misery for a long time and journaling
- 9:49helped that. I also want to mention
- 9:51alongside this that I also went through
- 9:53a lot of counseling during this time. I
- 9:56initially went to counseling just
- 9:58because of external circumstances that I
- 10:02couldn't control because I tend to solve
- 10:05a lot of problems by myself because of
- 10:08journaling. But I just want to throw
- 10:09that variable in there. So, it's not
- 10:12journaling completely by itself that
- 10:15transformed me to be who I am, but also
- 10:17through a combination of emotional
- 10:19support through having a counselor. I
- 10:21totally did not do this video orderly,
- 10:24so please forgive me if I'm jumping
- 10:26ahead of time frames. Um, around mid
- 10:292024, I did some very extensive,
- 10:33intensive self-development work. I
- 10:36manifested really hard during this time
- 10:39and a lot of my manifestations were
- 10:41actually done through my journaling. And
- 10:44what's funny is that I met my specific
- 10:48other during this time. And this is when
- 10:51my life really began to turn around
- 10:53because I was also trying to manifest a
- 10:55business job which I am now working at
- 10:58full-time.
- 10:59And I was also working on starting to
- 11:02build my YouTube career, posting more,
- 11:05planning my YouTube channel projected
- 11:08growth, getting more into what I was
- 11:11passionate about, and sitting with any
- 11:14gaps that I had with myself. At this
- 11:17point, it is about the end of 2025, and
- 11:20I am the best that I have ever been. I
- 11:23can't physically show you guys how much
- 11:25that I've grown, but if you are a
- 11:28regular subscriber here on my channel,
- 11:30you can probably see compared to my
- 11:32first video that I have improved
- 11:35significantly.
- 11:37Um, some major milestones that I want to
- 11:39note ever since I started journaling was
- 11:41that I was promoted to full-time at my
- 11:43job. I was able to nourish relationships
- 11:47and heal the ones that were broken and
- 11:49the ones that I had conflicts within. I
- 11:53recently moved in the past year. I
- 11:56resolved any anxieties that I've had
- 11:59throughout my whole life. I feel super
- 12:01super confident all the time. Everything
- 12:03I do, I pull my whole heart into. Like I
- 12:09never halfass anything now. I kind of go
- 12:12berserk when I'm in the zone. Like I
- 12:14there's really no denying it. Just
- 12:16everything I do, I feel happy all the
- 12:18time. Like there's no such thing as
- 12:19depression. And without journaling, I
- 12:22don't think I would have ever been here.
- 12:25This video isn't just about me yelling
- 12:28at you, telling why you should start
- 12:30journaling. This is something I
- 12:32voluntarily want you to do. If you can
- 12:35journal every day, I promise you, you
- 12:37will be a completely different person
- 12:39within the next year or even sooner. I
- 12:42just want you to set an intention or set
- 12:45an alter ego. Whatever it is, set your
- 12:48vision and journal your way towards it
- 12:51because you can do anything. The sky is
- 12:55the limit for you and I want to see you
- 12:58excel in your life. Thank you guys so
- 13:00much for watching until the end of this
- 13:02totally unordered video. If you want to
- 13:04see more content like this, please like
- 13:06and subscribe. Leave a comment below on
- 13:08what you'd like to see next on this
- 13:10channel. Until next time, I will see you
- 13:12guys. Bye.
