- 0:03Is Islam growing? Islam is moving. It's
- 0:07getting influence. They're getting
- 0:09they're they're making ground. So that's
- 0:10why it is important for Christians to
- 0:12take this seriously
- 0:17in their community and [music] their
- 0:19faith. They turn away from Islam and
- 0:21become a Christian. What does that cost
- 0:23them? Community [music]
- 0:25cut out. Mom and dad might do an honor.
- 0:29>> [music]
- 0:29>> wife might be stone. For them, it's
- 0:32everything. Everything that they've
- 0:33known.
- 0:35How can I engage in a simple,
- 0:38straightforward, healthy, respectful
- 0:41conversation and represent what I
- 0:44believe as a Christian and also have
- 0:48understanding of what they believe.
- 0:53What's up beat family? Allan here with
- 0:56my friend, my new friend.
- 0:57>> Yeah. just came in town last night. We
- 0:59chopped it up a little bit, getting to
- 1:01know each other and uh fast friends,
- 1:03man. I'm here with my friend Avery
- 1:05Austin. You may know him as God Logic
- 1:08Apologetics. And uh man, we got a good
- 1:11one for you today. This is a two-part
- 1:14series that we are doing to try to equip
- 1:17you to be able to have better
- 1:19conversations with people who don't
- 1:22believe the way you believe. And uh one
- 1:25video we are going to do uh black Hebrew
- 1:28Israelites and how to talk to them, how
- 1:30to converse with them, maybe even debate
- 1:32with them. Uh but in this video guys,
- 1:35this one's a special one. We are going
- 1:37to talk about something that's right up
- 1:39your alley, something that really helped
- 1:40you get your start on YouTube. Um
- 1:43engaging with uh Muslims. Yes. And so uh
- 1:47this is a big topic. Um it's huge uh
- 1:51right now in the body of Christ. Um, you
- 1:53might have friends, co-workers. Um, you
- 1:57might have people that you uh are in
- 1:59your neighborhood or whatnot. And they
- 2:01are um members of uh they're Muslims.
- 2:04They're they they believe in Islam.
- 2:06That's their their religion. And you
- 2:09might be stuck. You're not necessarily
- 2:11debating them online. Maybe you're not
- 2:13going live like uh Avery is. Yeah, you
- 2:16maybe you're not out there doing
- 2:17apologetics, but you you want to know
- 2:20how can I engage in a simple,
- 2:23straightforward, healthy, respectful
- 2:26conversation and represent what I
- 2:29believe as a Christian and also have
- 2:32understanding of what they believe
- 2:36and hopefully it leads to a conversion.
- 2:39But at the end of the day, hopefully we
- 2:41just give them some things.
- 2:44>> Plant the seed. Put a stone in their
- 2:45shoe. Whatever phrase you want to use.
- 2:47So,
- 2:48>> brother to the beat. Glad,
- 2:50>> man. I'm glad to be here on the beat,
- 2:52man. Yes, sir.
- 2:54>> Yeah. Islam, bro. Islam. The loud, the
- 2:58proud. Uh, what what you got for me,
- 3:01man? What What you got? What you want to
- 3:02ask? I'm an open book on this. I'm on
- 3:04this one. I'm a open book. Okay.
- 3:07>> All right. Let's Let's go, man. Let's
- 3:08not even let's not even waste the
- 3:09people's time.
- 3:13All right. So, uh let's jump in. So,
- 3:16let's just say you're talking to a
- 3:19Christian. Yeah. They know nothing about
- 3:21Islam at all. Yeah.
- 3:22>> They just know that their their neighbor
- 3:25is is a Muslim, right? So, what are just
- 3:28off the bat, what are some very
- 3:30important things that they need to know
- 3:33about um Islam? So they go into that
- 3:37conversation with a little bit of
- 3:39understanding.
- 3:40>> Yeah. So it's good to build bridges with
- 3:43people uh build connections with them so
- 3:45that you can have something to uh help
- 3:48stand on when it comes to the
- 3:50conversation. So the first thing that I
- 3:52would say uh that it's good for
- 3:56Christians to know is that Muslims
- 3:58really really pride themselves on uh
- 4:01Islam being a continuation of the
- 4:04previous messages, the previous
- 4:06prophets. So they affirm Abraham and you
- 4:11know David and Jesus and you know uh
- 4:15John the Baptist you know they affirm
- 4:17these prophets right but just as
- 4:19prophets they don't take Jesus as the
- 4:20son of God they believe he's the Messiah
- 4:23they don't know what that means though
- 4:24they don't know the implications of that
- 4:26but the Quran calls him the Messiah um
- 4:29they don't believe that he's Lord they
- 4:30don't believe he's divine in any way
- 4:32shape or form they believe he's just a
- 4:33messenger they believe he's born of a
- 4:35virgin mighty messenger and prophet of
- 4:37Allah. Um, and so they and that and
- 4:40Muhammad is just basically the
- 4:42culmination of everything that they
- 4:45brought. So he's just the final, you
- 4:48know, nail in the coffin, right? And the
- 4:50completion of the whole religion. So
- 4:52this is a place where actually, I know
- 4:54it sounds offensive, of course, for us
- 4:57Christians. Jesus is Lord, you know, he
- 4:59ain't just a mere man. That's
- 5:00disrespectful. That's like saying my
- 5:02mama ain't my mama, you know, but and
- 5:04just a good friend, you know. But no, uh
- 5:07it could be offensive. However, uh the
- 5:10perspective I would I would encourage
- 5:11Christians to come at this with is a a
- 5:14perspective of bridging the gap. So you
- 5:16can start with, oh, you believe the
- 5:18prophets. Good. We do too. What do the
- 5:20prophets What do you believe the
- 5:21prophets teach about salvation? What do
- 5:24they teach about God? Um how does
- 5:26Muhammad line up with them? You can
- 5:28build the conversation like that and
- 5:29they'll talk about that for days,
- 5:31>> you know. So
- 5:32>> that that's I guess I I would say that
- 5:34would be an very important concept to
- 5:36know.
- 5:37>> Okay. All right. Cool. So let's build on
- 5:38that a little bit.
- 5:43>> Let's talk um a little bit about a
- 5:46couple of words that we need to be aware
- 5:49of that you may not have ever heard
- 5:52these words at all, but they are very
- 5:54near and dear, I promise you, to your
- 5:57Muslim friends and your neighbors and
- 5:59whatnot. So let's talk about one the the
- 6:02tedhed.
- 6:04All right. So what is the talhed
- 6:07>> and why is that so important as it
- 6:10relates to what we believe as
- 6:13Christians? We believe in the trinity.
- 6:15Now we're going to get into more depth
- 6:16in terms of breaking down the trinity
- 6:18and all that. But let's just kind of get
- 6:19into that. How does that their belief
- 6:22this how does that
- 6:24>> connect or relate to our belief as
- 6:27Christians in terms of God? So
- 6:31it's that's a good question.
- 6:33>> Yeah.
- 6:34>> Um so just to start off, soed is the
- 6:37concept of the unification and oneness
- 6:41of Allah. So what that means is is that
- 6:43Allah has these attributes like the you
- 6:47know all merciful, all powerful, you
- 6:49know, all knowing stuff like that. um
- 6:52these these attributes are unified that
- 6:55make Allah who and what he is and these
- 6:58are attributes that are unique to him um
- 7:01his lordship his you know his deity it's
- 7:04all unique to him there's none other
- 7:06that you can attribute these type of
- 7:08attributes or qualities this worship
- 7:10this lordship it's all it all belongs to
- 7:13Allah this is who share it with any
- 7:15other
- 7:16>> being person no person so uh Allah is a
- 7:21singular god supposed he's a singular
- 7:24God and a singular person. All right? So
- 7:28he's one God and one person. Okay? There
- 7:30are no there's not a multitude of person
- 7:32not a multiplicity of persons within his
- 7:33essence. Only one person. Okay? Um and
- 7:37to think otherwise would be the
- 7:40uttermost blasphemy which is which is
- 7:43sherk. Okay. So, let's break that down a
- 7:46little bit because um if we don't
- 7:49understand that, then we can uh begin to
- 7:53feel like, well, man, all I did was, you
- 7:55know, talk about Jesus being God, why'
- 7:57they get so offended? Or if or or if I
- 7:59try to get them to be a Christian,
- 8:02>> we have to understand why that would be
- 8:05so offensive because So, correct me if
- 8:06I'm wrong, I did some research.
- 8:07>> Yeah. Uh sherk is associating a partner
- 8:12with God. Uh in Islam, sherk is the one
- 8:16sin God does not forgive. Y everything
- 8:19else is negotiable at the judgment. That
- 8:23one is not. So
- 8:26>> basically this is the the the key to the
- 8:28conversation. When a Muslim reacts to
- 8:30the trinity, he is not just losing a
- 8:33debate point. It's not like oh man, you
- 8:35know, okay man, I
- 8:36>> okay okay. I concede y'all believe. No,
- 8:39>> he believes that he is being invited to
- 8:42commit the unforgivable sin. So when you
- 8:45say, "Hey, believe in Jesus as God." Is
- 8:47that's it's a lot more than that for
- 8:48them. They believe that
- 8:50>> if I believe in your if I believe in
- 8:52Jesus as God,
- 8:53>> then I'm going against the which means
- 8:55that God the Father does not share any
- 8:58of his divine attributes with any other
- 9:00being. And now what you're telling me,
- 9:02Mr. or Mr. Christian is that Jesus
- 9:04shares the same divine essence as God
- 9:07the Father. And according to my beliefs,
- 9:10that's sherk, which is the unforgivable
- 9:12sin that will never be forgiven.
- 9:15>> Yeah. Now, for them, you know, they
- 9:17wouldn't even go so far as to say God
- 9:18the father because
- 9:20>> Oh, that's right. Break that down.
- 9:21Excuse me. Yes.
- 9:22>> Yeah. So, to say to say that God is the
- 9:24father, that in itself is sherk because
- 9:27now you're associating God with someone
- 9:29else as having a son. They're saying
- 9:31that there's someone like him, someone
- 9:33of his nature or his likeness.
- 9:35>> So they refuse. Well,
- 9:38>> uh, well, it's 2026 now, so that you you
- 9:41do have now Muslims coming out trying to
- 9:44negotiate whether Allah is a father or
- 9:46not now because of the problems this
- 9:48brings. But and we'll get into that
- 9:50later on in this. But the Quran is very
- 9:53very very very clear and it's actually
- 9:57probably it it's it repeats this all the
- 10:00time that Allah has no sons, no sons, no
- 10:04daughters. It the the Quran is like a a
- 10:06pyic against Christianity, you know,
- 10:09with a lot of straw men against
- 10:11Christian Christianity. meaning it
- 10:13doesn't it it attacks a
- 10:15misrepresentation of our faith as if it
- 10:18was our faith. And so that's what
- 10:20Muslims when they think of Christians,
- 10:22they think of how the Quran presents
- 10:24Christianity, not from real Christianity
- 10:27and what you know we know, not their own
- 10:30real study.
- 10:31>> So [clears throat] yeah, so they think
- 10:32that we're polytheists. M
- 10:34>> um they think to say that Allah has a
- 10:36son or say God the father that we're
- 10:39saying that there's multiple gods that
- 10:41there's a dad god and a son god you know
- 10:45so they they reject all of that. So
- 10:47right away you see that when you're
- 10:49having a conversation, this is so good.
- 10:50Right away you see when you're having a
- 10:52conversation with your Muslim friends,
- 10:54please be careful not to even say God
- 10:56the Father.
- 10:57>> If you want to try to Now we believe,
- 10:59yes, as Christians, we understand that.
- 11:01>> But if you're trying to make a
- 11:02connection and you're trying to bridge
- 11:05with them, as soon as you say God the
- 11:08Father, they're going to get checked
- 11:09out. They're going to start to like, oh,
- 11:12I don't want to have anything to do with
- 11:13your religion cuz already you're saying
- 11:14some stuff that my book. So you got to
- 11:16be careful
- 11:17>> usually. Yes. Yeah.
- 11:18>> And so depend. So like I said, it's
- 11:20tactics and it's it's setup and and how
- 11:24you set up these concepts. You don't
- 11:26want to, you know, bulldoze. Once you
- 11:29are getting into the conversation,
- 11:30getting into what the prophets taught,
- 11:33then you can demonstrate how God is the
- 11:35father. Not according to pagan
- 11:38Christians, but according to the
- 11:39prophets, God is our heavenly father.
- 11:42the same prophets you believe in and and
- 11:44attest and affirmed in your own book.
- 11:46>> In your own book.
- 11:47>> Okay. All right. So, so I can't wait to
- 11:49get there. I can't wait to get there.
- 11:51So, before we get there, earlier you
- 11:52mentioned Allah. All right. So, that's
- 11:54also something else that we need to
- 11:55think about because I think that
- 11:57>> Christians may have a
- 11:59>> false perspective of Allah
- 12:02>> as Muslims are worshiping another god or
- 12:05a different god. Right? And correct me
- 12:08if I'm wrong, but Allah is not the name
- 12:11of a different God. It's the Arabic word
- 12:14for God.
- 12:15>> And am I correct to say that?
- 12:17>> You're you're not you're not wrong. It's
- 12:19>> I mean, yeah, I know what you're saying.
- 12:21Yes, technically.
- 12:22>> Yeah, technically it's the word Arabic
- 12:24word for God to them. Um, but they in
- 12:28Islam that's the name of their God, you
- 12:30know, but but at the same time, it's
- 12:32not. It's weird. It depends on what
- 12:33Muslim you ask. Okay? Because if I ask a
- 12:36Muslim, what is okay? What is what is
- 12:37Allah's name? They'll say Allah,
- 12:40>> but Allah just means God. God is not a
- 12:42name. That's the title like Pharaoh or
- 12:43king, right?
- 12:44>> What is Allah's name? There's no real
- 12:46answer for it. They'll say he has many
- 12:47names. So, they treat Allah as a title
- 12:50or a name for for God. It's like
- 12:52interchangeable.
- 12:53>> But [clears throat] then you'll have
- 12:54Arab Christians.
- 12:55>> I was just about that's what I was about
- 12:56to say. Arab Christians who would also
- 12:58>> they use the term Allah.
- 12:59>> They use the term Allah.
- 13:00>> They say Jesus is a law.
- 13:01>> That's my point. So, you might meet
- 13:03someone who is an Arab, who's a
- 13:06Christian,
- 13:07>> and they will say Allah, and you might
- 13:10think, "Oh, whoa, whoa, hold on. Allah,
- 13:12you must be you must be Musl You must be
- 13:14Islam. You must Yeah.
- 13:15>> No, it's just they're Christians, but
- 13:18they're Arab."
- 13:19>> And in their language,
- 13:21>> Yeah.
- 13:22>> Allah means God. So, they are
- 13:25>> worshiping and referring to the same God
- 13:27as we are as Christians.
- 13:28>> Yeah. So if you if you pick up a Arabic
- 13:31Bible, it Jesus is Allah. The word is
- 13:33Allah in the Arabic Bible, you know, and
- 13:36so there's no wrong there's no problem
- 13:37with that. So this uh I know cuz we
- 13:40associate it with Islam automatically
- 13:43and you have to kind of be used to this
- 13:45world or used to dealing with them to
- 13:47not be so sensitive to the word Allah.
- 13:49You know, you just you you got to try to
- 13:52step out step out of that. And it's it's
- 13:55a word and it's just like God is a word,
- 13:59right? You know, it's just like God is a
- 14:00word. Anybody has a God that they
- 14:02attribute to.
- 14:04>> So, but for them, everybody has an Allah
- 14:06that we attribute to, but they believe
- 14:08that Allah is the true God, the most
- 14:09high, the all knowing, the one true
- 14:11creator, right? They don't believe that
- 14:13there's any other Allah's out there,
- 14:15>> right? And so that's okay, right?
- 14:18>> We can we can build off of that. The
- 14:20question is now, who is Allah? Right.
- 14:23>> Who is the true Allah? I have no problem
- 14:25with what you with using it. Yeah,
- 14:27>> you can say Allah. I'm cool with that.
- 14:28Who's the true Allah?
- 14:30>> You know,
- 14:31>> who's the true God?
- 14:35>> Before we get into all the the the nuts
- 14:37and bolts of thing, let's just talk
- 14:38about Islam in general. So,
- 14:40>> why is it important for us as Christians
- 14:44to be able to have these conversations
- 14:46with regards to is Islam growing? What's
- 14:50the trend? was the trajectory
- 14:53um you know maybe even possibly compared
- 14:55to uh to Christianity and I say that
- 14:58because if it's really trending and
- 15:00growing then that means there's going to
- 15:01be more and more of our friends and our
- 15:03co-workers and our neighbors who we're
- 15:06going to be inevitably having these
- 15:07conversations with.
- 15:08>> Yeah. Um so Islam is growing and it's
- 15:12not really due to conversions, it's due
- 15:14to birth rates,
- 15:15>> right? So they have multiple wives and
- 15:18they have multiple children by these
- 15:20wives and so the the Islamic family is
- 15:23growing and so then therefore Islam as a
- 15:26whole grows right and so then you have I
- 15:30mean if you look at how Islam is moving
- 15:32in the west now in Europe London uh it's
- 15:36Islam galore out there I mean they have
- 15:39mosques and the call to prayer loud in
- 15:42the neighborhoods like that's how it is.
- 15:44It's like is there's Islamic
- 15:46neighborhoods, you know. Um I was just
- 15:49in Dearbornne a few months ago,
- 15:50Dearbornne, Michigan, and they have mos
- 15:53mosques out there that do the loud call
- 15:55to prayer. Um this is in America. This
- 15:58is happening in America. So Islam is
- 16:00moving. It's getting influence. They're
- 16:02getting they're they're making ground.
- 16:04And so that's why it is important for
- 16:05Christians to take this seriously. Like
- 16:07it's Islam is a real threat. It's a real
- 16:10threat not just theologically, but to
- 16:12society. Islam is a threat.
- 16:14>> Um, women are in danger, children are in
- 16:16danger, men are in danger. Uh, we
- 16:20wouldn't be able to do this if Sharia
- 16:22law was implemented and Islam took over.
- 16:25We would not be able to have this free
- 16:27conversation about our disagreements and
- 16:29criticism about Islam.
- 16:31>> We we get arrested
- 16:32>> and possibly killed.
- 16:38>> All right. So when some most people I
- 16:40think whenever they think about an a
- 16:42Muslim they think about an immigrant,
- 16:44somebody who you know coming over from
- 16:47another country, but that's not actually
- 16:49necessarily the case here in the United
- 16:51States. No.
- 16:52>> Um correct me if I'm wrong, but about a
- 16:54third of Muslims are black.
- 16:56>> Am I correct?
- 16:57>> Now I don't know about the numbers. If
- 16:58you looked up the numbers that you got
- 17:00it,
- 17:00>> but there's a large percentage
- 17:01percentage.
- 17:02>> A lot of black Muslims, right? A lot of
- 17:04black Muslims in America. And it's
- 17:06interesting because you have
- 17:08within Islam, you have different sects.
- 17:11>> Yes.
- 17:11>> So you have one sect of Islam is a lot
- 17:14of people out here know is the Nation of
- 17:16Islam,
- 17:17>> right? So let's talk about that just to
- 17:18briefly distinguish.
- 17:20>> Yeah. They're they're kind of like the
- 17:21Hebrew Israelite version of of Islam.
- 17:24Yeah. Yeah. Like the the camp version.
- 17:26Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:28>> And so with and then within Nation of
- 17:30Islam, they've broken off into their own
- 17:33little sects or denominations. It's
- 17:34really crazy. But yes, so you have the
- 17:38Nation of Islam is more so like the
- 17:40Hebrew Israelite version of Islam.
- 17:43Blacks are the the true Muslims. Um you
- 17:47know the white man is the devil. You
- 17:49know what I'm saying? And the Shayan
- 17:51>> similar to now now Orthodox traditional
- 17:55Muslims like Sunni Muslims, Shia
- 17:57Muslims, they don't consider Nation of
- 17:59Islam Muslims Muslims. They don't
- 18:01because they have some crazy heretical
- 18:03beliefs according to the Quran. Like
- 18:05they believe that Allah came and uh and
- 18:07incarnated into like uh uh uh Elijah
- 18:10Muhammad and that Jesus incarnated into
- 18:14Farrakhan, you know, and that they like
- 18:16they are the like second or third coming
- 18:18of of Allah and of Jesus and stuff like
- 18:20that. That is absolutely heretical when
- 18:23it comes to Islam. Like even even for me
- 18:26when I'm talking to a Nation of Islam
- 18:28Muslim I'm like bro you not even you're
- 18:30not a Muslim
- 18:30>> right
- 18:31>> even I'm saying that
- 18:32>> so a lot of Muslims
- 18:34see people of the Nation of Islam as
- 18:36being not even it's like
- 18:39>> they see them as we see Mormons
- 18:42>> right okay right you're trying to
- 18:46>> you're trying to um piggyback off of the
- 18:48name
- 18:49>> but your beliefs and what you represent
- 18:52with regards to our book our history.
- 18:55>> It's so far off.
- 18:57>> It's off that. Yeah. But you call a
- 18:59nation of Islam just like Mormons call
- 19:01themselves
- 19:01>> Christians. Yeah. Turkey, Latter Day
- 19:04Saints,
- 19:04>> right?
- 19:08>> Speaking of some of these groups and
- 19:10then we're going to get into like the
- 19:11the really good stuff. But like uh so
- 19:14Muslims, there's different kinds.
- 19:16There's Sunni Muslims, right? So that's
- 19:17about 80 85 90% like most of the Muslims
- 19:20you meet are going to be Sunni Muslims.
- 19:22Yeah.
- 19:22>> Shia. Mhm.
- 19:24>> About 10 10 15% concentrated in Iraq by
- 19:27Iran. Byan Sufism.
- 19:30>> Sufiism.
- 19:31>> Sufiism. Okay. So that's just a I mean
- 19:34we don't need to talk too much about
- 19:35that, but what's the what's the big
- 19:36difference?
- 19:37>> They're more they're more so Sufiism is
- 19:39more like mystical. Okay.
- 19:40>> They're like the the hypers spiritual
- 19:44everything is metaphoric and and hypers
- 19:46spiritualized and mystical. Uh so they
- 19:50the way they see they're kind of like uh
- 19:53kind of like uh like
- 19:55>> new age new age Buddhism mixed with
- 19:59Islam like it's it's kind of stuff like
- 20:01that you know
- 20:02>> kind of like new age people who call
- 20:05themselves calls Christian look at them
- 20:06like
- 20:07>> you know crystals and sage and all that
- 20:09stuff is okay. Yeah.
- 20:10>> Yeah.
- 20:11>> Okay. So then you have uh uh Amadia
- 20:14>> Akmadi Akmadi Aki that's why I need you
- 20:17here. Yeah, pronounce [laughter] these
- 20:18words.
- 20:20>> I'm get I would get I would get
- 20:21destroyed. You can't pronounce our
- 20:23words.
- 20:24>> Okay. So that's like I mean what are
- 20:27they considered?
- 20:28>> So they are also by like Sunnis and Shia
- 20:30is considered non-Muslims. These are
- 20:31heretical groups. That would be like a
- 20:33Jehovah's Witness sect you know. So um
- 20:37they they believe that they believe in
- 20:38the crucifixion of Jesus. Um, but they
- 20:41also believe that somebody Ahmedi is the
- 20:45Messiah and that, you know, uh, and that
- 20:49there's another prophet or another
- 20:50messenger, excuse me, after Muhammad.
- 20:53When a core belief within traditional
- 20:56Islam is that Muhammad is the seal of
- 20:58the prophets and he's the last
- 20:59messenger.
- 21:00>> So no messenger comes after Muhammad.
- 21:02He's the he's the final one. He's the
- 21:04culmination of everyone,
- 21:05>> right? No more need.
- 21:06>> No more need. But the Amades that that
- 21:09guy Ahmedi he believes in uh or he was a
- 21:11messenger after Muhammad.
- 21:13>> Okay. [snorts] So that's why
- 21:15>> Islam Muslims are like okay no you y'all
- 21:18are way off because Muhammad was the
- 21:19last prophet. Okay. All right. Last
- 21:21group quickly and then we're going to
- 21:23get nominal Muslims, right? So these are
- 21:25people that you know they're culturally
- 21:28Muslim
- 21:29>> but they but they're not u not really
- 21:31devout. Yeah. Um, so that's interesting
- 21:34because that's probably similar to the
- 21:36majority of I mean I'm not trying to
- 21:38judge, but the majority of people in the
- 21:40United States who call themselves
- 21:41Christians.
- 21:41>> Yep.
- 21:42>> They're Christian by name, but not by
- 21:45practice, not by de devotion.
- 21:48>> They may not even go to church, but
- 21:49they're just Christian by name. And I'm
- 21:51sure there's a huge sect of people that
- 21:52you might meet who they probably don't
- 21:54even know their own Quran. They probably
- 21:56know their own beliefs.
- 21:57Christians know about Habach or Isaiah,
- 22:00you know, or book of Revel. Like, most
- 22:02Christians don't know these things.
- 22:04>> So, I guess there's that there's that
- 22:05group as well.
- 22:06>> Yep. They're Muslim by name. They're
- 22:08Muslim cuz my mom and dad raised me as
- 22:10Muslim. Yeah.
- 22:11>> Just like Christians are Christian cuz
- 22:13my grandmama cuz my my mama and my
- 22:15daddy, you know. Now, those are those
- 22:16type of Muslims. Now, they're still
- 22:19considered Muslims according to
- 22:21traditional Muslims. as long as you
- 22:23profess Islam, you know, you're you're
- 22:26pretty much good.
- 22:30>> So, let's dig into some beliefs now. All
- 22:31right. We we've already we've already
- 22:33dug into what they believe about God.
- 22:36And to be clear, um they believe that
- 22:38God is one, without partner, uh without
- 22:42offspring, uh with uh being
- 22:45transcendent. God is more distant,
- 22:48transcendent, not not more of a personal
- 22:50God, am I assuming? Mhm.
- 22:52>> He's merciful and just, but he's not a
- 22:55father.
- 22:56>> Uh and uh most Muslims consider the
- 22:58language of fatherhood beneath God's
- 23:00majesty. It's like God father. Now you
- 23:03bringing him down to earth. You bringing
- 23:04him down to God is so far above anything
- 23:07we could possibly be. Humans are
- 23:10fathers. So to say that God is a father,
- 23:13you're that's like very, you know, uh
- 23:17very offensive to them. Um God reveals
- 23:19his will but not himself. There's no
- 23:22incarnation.
- 23:23>> There is no that's a fancy word for God
- 23:26does not come down to earth and become a
- 23:29man
- 23:30>> as we believe in the in the uh Christian
- 23:32tradition. And he does not indwell us.
- 23:35>> Correct.
- 23:35>> None of those things to a a a Muslim as
- 23:39you're talking to them. None of those
- 23:40things are part of God.
- 23:44Now take it away. What do they believe
- 23:46about Jesus? Because this might be
- 23:48surprising to some Christians is they
- 23:50might be believe more about Jesus than a
- 23:52lot of Christians.
- 23:53>> Yeah. No, no. This is actually a common
- 23:56saying Christian or Muslims will say,
- 23:57"We're more Christian than than the
- 23:59Christians." We believe in Jesus more
- 24:01than you do. Right. So they they'll say
- 24:03like, "We affirm Jesus. He's a prophet.
- 24:05He's one of the mightiest messengers of
- 24:08Allah. He performed miracles. He raised
- 24:10the dead. He healed the sick. He's the
- 24:13Messiah. The Jews rejected him. His own
- 24:16people rejected him. Um, he was born of
- 24:18a virgin, Mary.
- 24:20>> Right.
- 24:20>> They'll say he's a word from Allah and a
- 24:23spirit from him.
- 24:24>> Sound sound pretty good, don't it?
- 24:26>> Yeah.
- 24:26>> Sound good?
- 24:27>> Sinless.
- 24:28>> He was sinless. They don't believe he
- 24:29sinned. You know, depends on who you ask
- 24:31cuz, you know, but for the most part,
- 24:33they don't believe that Jesus sinned or
- 24:35made any mistakes. Um, and you know, so
- 24:39so far so good. It sounds like
- 24:41>> they also believe he's still alive.
- 24:42>> They still, they believe he's alive.
- 24:43They believe that he uh ascended,
- 24:45>> right? He's returning.
- 24:46>> Yeah. Then they believe he's coming back
- 24:48to to to to destroy the Antichrist.
- 24:51>> That's
- 24:51>> Mhm.
- 24:52>> That's pretty solid.
- 24:53>> Yeah. Sounds sounds good. Well, you
- 24:55know, with all that little Yeah. Just a
- 24:58little, you know, see, we have great
- 25:00really good things in common, but Jesus,
- 25:03he's not he's not God. He's nothing but
- 25:06a mere messenger. And when you when you
- 25:10when you exalt him in that way, you do a
- 25:13disservice to Jesus because Jesus came
- 25:15saying that to to believe in his Lord
- 25:18and your Lord that he's a messenger.
- 25:20He's not God. He's the messenger of God.
- 25:23And so to exalt him in that way would to
- 25:26go directly against his entire mission
- 25:29which was to point everyone to Allah to
- 25:31God to the worship and service of the
- 25:33one true God. And so he's going to come
- 25:36back like Jesus, Allah's going to ask
- 25:38him, did you tell these people to take
- 25:41you and your mother as gods besides me?
- 25:43He's going to say, "Of course not. He
- 25:45didn't." So Allah is going to vindicate
- 25:47Jesus at the end where Jesus is going to
- 25:49be able to speak for himself and say, "I
- 25:51never told them to worship me. I never
- 25:52told them to take me as God. This is
- 25:55their own doing."
- 25:56>> You know, and so this is a disrespect
- 25:59and a disservice to Jesus.
- 26:01>> So he's a mere messenger. He's not God,
- 26:05nor is he the son of God. He's, yes,
- 26:08he's born of a virgin, but that's just a
- 26:10miraculous
- 26:12uh, you know, supernatural act by Allah
- 26:15as a sign that that Jesus is his
- 26:18messenger and he chose Mary to to to do
- 26:21this. That's all.
- 26:23>> He's [clears throat] not the son of God.
- 26:24Jesus does not have a father in any way.
- 26:26>> And all of this is is in the Quran. All
- 26:29of this all of this what I'm saying well
- 26:32most of it
- 26:34>> fighting the antichrist that's not in
- 26:36the Quran
- 26:36>> okay
- 26:36>> him coming back to judge that's not in
- 26:38the Quran that's in what is called the
- 26:40hadith which is a a subset of what you I
- 26:44guess you can consider scripture for
- 26:46them
- 26:47>> um where it's usually the sayings and
- 26:49the practices of Muhammad
- 26:51>> so how what how Muham I mean to the tea
- 26:53how Muhammad used the bathroom how he
- 26:55ate which hand he ate with which foot he
- 26:58walked into the door with they try to
- 27:00mimic these things how he had his beard
- 27:02cut um you know all all that kind of
- 27:05stuff so the practices and sayings of
- 27:07Muhammad is in what is called the hadith
- 27:10which they take to you know that's where
- 27:13they also get other revelation like
- 27:14Jesus coming back um other kind of
- 27:17special things
- 27:18>> okay gotcha so Jesus being crucified
- 27:22>> Jesus being oh he wasn't crucified
- 27:24that's in the Quran okay
- 27:25>> he wasn't crucified that why why would
- 27:27that Why? Why would that bother them
- 27:30that
- 27:30>> Yeah, because you you you believe that
- 27:33Jesus died for your sins, which then
- 27:36gives you a a free ticket to just sin
- 27:38and go do what you want. This is of the
- 27:40shan, the devil. But Jesus didn't die.
- 27:44God wouldn't allow his special prophet
- 27:47to be humiliated and go out in that way
- 27:50who he loves. Of course not. And so so
- 27:52what he does is this is what the Quran
- 27:54says that in their boasting in their
- 27:56boasting they said we killed Jesus the
- 27:58Messiah but they killed him not nor did
- 28:02they crucify him but it was made to
- 28:05appear so. It was made to appear that
- 28:09they killed him and crucified him.
- 28:11>> And those who disagree on this matter
- 28:13follow nothing but conjecture for they
- 28:16certainly killed him not. M
- 28:18>> so the the the Quran clearly states that
- 28:21that Allah saved Jesus from crucifixion.
- 28:24He raised him up to himself. In chapter
- 28:273, it talks about how he's going to free
- 28:29him from those who disbelieve and he's
- 28:32going to uh uh rise him to himself. So
- 28:36Jesus was he ascended and was raised to
- 28:39Allah in salvation. [clears throat]
- 28:42>> So he w he did not die and he didn't
- 28:44suffer. All right. So later on guys,
- 28:46we're going to close that loop. We're
- 28:47going to come back and we're going to
- 28:48talk about how we're going to get into
- 28:50all this stuff. We're just kind of
- 28:51laying out the beliefs and the
- 28:52foundations right now. And then we're
- 28:54going to come back and talk a little bit
- 28:56later about how do you
- 28:58>> have conversation and defend the
- 29:00Christian perspective so that you can
- 29:02show them, you know, what what the truth
- 29:04is, what we believe the truth is. And
- 29:05one of them is obviously crucifixion.
- 29:08how do you help explain to and give
- 29:11evidence that Jesus was crucified which
- 29:14obviously contradicts what's written in
- 29:16their own
- 29:18um
- 29:19>> let's talk about um we've talked about
- 29:22what they believe about God we've talked
- 29:24about what they believe about Jesus um
- 29:27two more a couple more we want to talk
- 29:29about what they believe about the Holy
- 29:30Spirit
- 29:32>> what they believe about salvation and
- 29:34what books
- 29:35>> what what what divine revelation
- 29:41So the Holy Spirit is you get a a mix
- 29:44but for the most part they interpret the
- 29:47Holy Spirit to be the angel Gabriel
- 29:49which is blasphemous of course but they
- 29:52believe that the Holy Spirit is the
- 29:54angel Gabriel. Now there's nothing in
- 29:56the Quran that says that. There's
- 29:57nothing in the Quran that that hints to
- 30:00that. However, uh to steal men or to
- 30:03represent their position correctly,
- 30:05they'll take a verse that says um it
- 30:08[clears throat] says that because they
- 30:09believe that the Quran came down from
- 30:11Allah through the angel Gabriel that
- 30:14Gabriel came down and presented the
- 30:16Quran to Muhammad and was reciting it,
- 30:18giving him verses of the Quran and he's
- 30:20just repeating what he's hearing from
- 30:21the angel. Right? So what they there's a
- 30:24verse that talks about how the angel
- 30:26Gabriel brought the Quran down. Brought
- 30:29it down, right? Um and then there's
- 30:31another verse that says that the Holy
- 30:33Spirit brought the Quran down. And so
- 30:36they put two and two together and say,
- 30:37"Okay, yeah." Boom. The Holy Spirit is
- 30:40Gabriel. Gabriel's the one who brought
- 30:41it down. It says the Holy Spirit brought
- 30:42it down here.
- 30:44>> Boom. The Holy Spirit's Gabriel. Right?
- 30:46One and one. So they believe that the
- 30:48Holy Spirit is Gabriel. They believe
- 30:51that Gabriel um is the one who comes and
- 30:56has helped bring you pretty much all of
- 30:59the other revelations that they also
- 31:01believe in. Um it would be interesting
- 31:03to see what they think about the Torah
- 31:05specifically though cuz that the Quran
- 31:07actually alludes or attests that Moses
- 31:10spoke to Allah directly, not through an
- 31:12angel. So, it would it would actually be
- 31:15I haven't asked if they believe that
- 31:17that Gabriel brought down the Torah.
- 31:22>> What do they believe about salvation?
- 31:24How do you get saved? How do you go to
- 31:27heaven? Um,
- 31:30as a as a member of Islam, what what's
- 31:33their what's their system?
- 31:34>> So, number one, the word salvation
- 31:38doesn't appear in the Quran.
- 31:40>> Okay.
- 31:40>> Ain't that something?
- 31:41>> Yeah. The entire Quran does not talk
- 31:43about salvation. It doesn't look at it
- 31:45that way.
- 31:46>> Sin is not the big issue. That's it's
- 31:50not sin is sin. It does the Quran
- 31:52doesn't focus on sin. Um cuz really
- 31:55honestly it's it's it's it's
- 31:56interesting. The Quran presents Allah as
- 31:59the one who created us to sin. And so us
- 32:04sinning is what we're supposed to do.
- 32:06>> And we're we're in this as a test. And
- 32:08we're in this life as a test. And so
- 32:11we're supposed to pass the test. And how
- 32:12we pass the test is by recognizing that
- 32:14Allah is the one and only God who's only
- 32:17worthy of worship and acknowledges his
- 32:19messenger Muhammad. That's that's that's
- 32:22what it is to walk the straight path,
- 32:25right? To walk the right path. And so um
- 32:28you know do good deeds. Um you know you
- 32:32know do what you can to you know
- 32:35acknowledge Allah. Um be devoted to the
- 32:38religion. observe your prayer times
- 32:41>> five times a day.
- 32:42>> Five times a day. Even though and the
- 32:44five times a day that's not in the
- 32:45Quran, that's in the hadith.
- 32:47>> So, Oh, okay.
- 32:48>> You got to go to the hadith to get how
- 32:50to pray in detail.
- 32:52>> So, now that's what they
- 32:53>> Yeah, that's where Muhammad got his
- 32:54prayers from. So,
- 32:56>> um you [clears throat] have the fasting
- 32:59and the uh uh the Hajj where you go to
- 33:03Mecca,
- 33:04>> pilgrimage.
- 33:04>> The pilgrimage. Yes. So you know you do
- 33:07these things you observe the fasting you
- 33:09observe the prayers you observe the uh
- 33:12uh the worships
- 33:14>> you're [clears throat]
- 33:15you know you you're collecting good
- 33:17deeds
- 33:18>> and then hopefully on the day of
- 33:20judgment your good deeds will outweigh
- 33:22your bad.
- 33:22>> There's a scripture there's a there's a
- 33:24verse in there in there uh
- 33:25>> talks about the scales.
- 33:26>> Yeah the scales hope that if your if
- 33:29your good deeds are heavy
- 33:31>> Yeah.
- 33:31>> then you'll you'll be you know it'll
- 33:34work out for you. your good deeds are
- 33:35light and your bad deeds are heavy or
- 33:38something like that. I haven't quoted
- 33:39it, but it's like it's basically saying
- 33:42>> essentially you you you need to go
- 33:44through life and all you can do is hope
- 33:48>> that when you get to judgment day that
- 33:50your good deeds outweigh your bad. And
- 33:52if so, God will be just and merciful to
- 33:54you.
- 33:55>> Yeah.
- 33:55>> But if not,
- 33:57>> yeah, you have a Quran verse where
- 33:58Muhammad himself says, "I do not know
- 34:01what my Lord is going to do with me nor
- 34:03with you." Right? So the prophet that
- 34:06you guys are following that you're
- 34:08staking your life on and your eternity
- 34:10on, he doesn't know according to the
- 34:12Quran. Now there's mentions in the
- 34:14hadith where it seems like he does get
- 34:16some type of assurance and becomes more
- 34:19confident. But if you're talking about
- 34:21what they believe to be the revelation
- 34:23of God according to the revelation of
- 34:25God, the exact verbatim words of Allah,
- 34:28Muhammad didn't know
- 34:29>> where what what his destination would
- 34:31be. which is a which is a reason why
- 34:33you'll hear them whenever they say
- 34:35Muhammad, they'll say peace be upon him.
- 34:38>> They're supplicating for him and that
- 34:40Allah grants him peace.
- 34:42>> Okay,
- 34:42>> because it ain't granted yet,
- 34:44>> right?
- 34:45>> And then hopefully as much as they pray
- 34:46for him that that that is a good deed
- 34:49accounted to them as well.
- 34:51>> So when they pray for the prophet, it
- 34:53counts for them as a good deed. Every
- 34:55time they say peace be upon him,
- 34:56>> we help him, he helps us.
- 34:58>> Exactly. Exactly.
- 34:59>> By [laughter] helping him is helping me.
- 35:00>> Yes. Yes.
- 35:01>> Okay. All right. All right. Now, let's
- 35:03dig into let's dig into um let's dig
- 35:06into divine divine writings. All right.
- 35:08So, um this one's going to be is going
- 35:10to get really good.
- 35:15>> What does Islam believe
- 35:18about scripture before the Quran?
- 35:22>> Right. Because we have the Quran.
- 35:24>> Yeah. But they also believe that there
- 35:26were scriptures that were handed down
- 35:29before the Quran that they heavily
- 35:32respect. Yes. Uh the I'm probably going
- 35:34to get these wrong. The Tat
- 35:37that's solid. Yeah. The Torat. Yeah.
- 35:40>> Zabor.
- 35:40>> The Torat is the Torah.
- 35:42>> Okay.
- 35:42>> Zabore is the Psalms
- 35:44>> and the Injil
- 35:45>> and is the gospel.
- 35:46>> Okay. So, break those down for us for
- 35:48those who don't know. [laughter] Okay.
- 35:50Cuz I see that's why I got my brother
- 35:51here cuz I don't get, you know, I'm I'm
- 35:53not the expert. Yeah, it comes to these
- 35:55things. You know what I'm saying? So,
- 35:57what what are these three things that
- 35:59they believe were passed down um that
- 36:03even preede the writing of the Quran?
- 36:06>> Yeah. So, here you have uh
- 36:09>> and what is their view on it? Do they
- 36:10respect it? Do they they take it as
- 36:12truth? Um
- 36:13>> yes and no.
- 36:14>> Okay.
- 36:14>> Yes.
- 36:15>> Oh, yeah. That we're going to get into
- 36:16that because it's corrupted. They think
- 36:17it's been changed. Okay. We'll get into
- 36:18that. Okay.
- 36:19>> Yeah. Okay.
- 36:20>> So, here you have uh here's a verse in
- 36:22the Quran. It's chapter 29:46,
- 36:25which I really love to use, but it says
- 36:27this. It says, "Do not argue with the
- 36:29people of the book." And people of the
- 36:31book are the Jews and Christians. It's a
- 36:33title for us.
- 36:34>> Um because people of the book are we
- 36:37received the scriptures from Allah,
- 36:38right? The Torah, the Gospel, the Zabor,
- 36:40the Psalms.
- 36:41>> Though that's Yep. That's the those are
- 36:44our that's our scripture. So, we're the
- 36:46people of the book.
- 36:47>> Oh,
- 36:47>> okay. That's what we're known as in the
- 36:48Quran. He says, "Do not argue." So, he's
- 36:50talking to the Muslims. Do not argue
- 36:52with the people of the book [snorts]
- 36:54except in a way that is good. Um except
- 36:58for those who uh with those who inflict
- 37:01wrong. But say to them, this is how
- 37:04you're supposed to discuss with them.
- 37:05Say, "We believe in what has been
- 37:09revealed to us and what has been
- 37:11revealed to you. Your God and our God is
- 37:14one and we are Muslims." So that's what
- 37:17they're supposed to say to us. They're
- 37:18supposed to believe in our scriptures.
- 37:21They're supposed to believe in the same
- 37:22God that we have because we're all
- 37:24supposed to have the same God. And that
- 37:26same God revealed all these scriptures
- 37:28that we hold to. Okay? And so now we
- 37:31just are just missing out on the Quran.
- 37:33That's all. We just got one more step to
- 37:35take. Okay?
- 37:36>> You know, so they've taken all the
- 37:37steps. They believe in our books and
- 37:39theirs.
- 37:40>> We we just stopped at ours. We got also
- 37:42believe in theirs according to the
- 37:44Quran.
- 37:44>> Okay? So they believe that the Torah was
- 37:48given to Moses by Allah.
- 37:50>> Okay. Says first five books.
- 37:51>> Mhm.
- 37:51>> Okay.
- 37:52>> Well, they they don't they don't know.
- 37:54We'll get into that, but we but we know
- 37:56what the Torah is.
- 37:57>> They don't.
- 37:58>> Um
- 37:59>> so the Torah, the Zabore, the Psalms was
- 38:03given to David. The Quran says that. It
- 38:05even says that Allah wrote for David in
- 38:07the Zabor in the Psalms and even quotes
- 38:09the psalm that we have today. Um quotes
- 38:12Psalm 37. Very interesting. So, the
- 38:15Psalms of David, the Injil, the gospel.
- 38:19Now, it's funny. The Injil is not an
- 38:21Arabic word. It derives from the Greek
- 38:22Evangelion.
- 38:24>> That's where it derives from. And so,
- 38:26the angil is the gospel that was given
- 38:29to Jesus.
- 38:30>> And what is that to them?
- 38:32>> That's the revelation of Jesus. So Jesus
- 38:34came preaching the gospel. Okay? You
- 38:36believe that? That's the revelation, the
- 38:38book that Jesus came with.
- 38:39>> Okay?
- 38:39>> And Muhammad received the Quran.
- 38:42>> Okay? So that's uh now here's the thing.
- 38:45When it comes to the Torah,
- 38:47>> like I told you, they don't know what
- 38:48the Torah is. Sometimes throughout the
- 38:51Quran, it it confuses the Talmud with
- 38:53the Torah. Like it'll quote the Midrash
- 38:56or the Talmud uh as if it was Torah.
- 39:00>> And so it it mixes that. It doesn't
- 39:02Muhammad didn't know what he was talking
- 39:03about.
- 39:04>> And so he just would go he would hear
- 39:06things and then put it in, you know,
- 39:07that's that's what he would do. And so
- 39:10so you have the the Torah and even in
- 39:12some hadith like it it believe it it
- 39:15equates the Torah to the culmination of
- 39:17all the books. So the Torah, the Psalms
- 39:20and like the the Old Testament, the
- 39:22Gospel, all of that is Torah,
- 39:25[clears throat]
- 39:25>> right? So uh the book of Isaiah can be
- 39:27considered Torah. But this is the
- 39:29question I'm saying like if we if if the
- 39:32inal means the gospel that was given to
- 39:34Jesus Christ
- 39:36>> and we understand that to be that he is
- 39:39saying that I am the way the truth and
- 39:41the life and you know no one come the
- 39:43father except through me
- 39:45>> and we believe that and they're saying
- 39:47that they acknowledge that Jesus was
- 39:49given the gospel from God
- 39:51>> right [laughter]
- 39:53then that contradicts what's in their
- 39:56book.
- 39:56>> Ding ding ding. Yeah, [laughter] I wish
- 39:59we we're going to get into that.
- 40:00>> Allan has just walked into what we call
- 40:03the Islamic dilemma. [laughter]
- 40:06>> All it takes is some common sense, huh?
- 40:08You're not studied in Islam like that.
- 40:10You just looked this up a little bit.
- 40:11You heard it. You're around. And so your
- 40:14common sense thinking is like, well,
- 40:15okay, you affirm the gospel, but the
- 40:17gospel says this, the Quran contradicts
- 40:18that. So, how do you work that out?
- 40:20That's the dilemma.
- 40:21>> Okay, we're going to dig specifically
- 40:23into the Islamic dilemma in just a bit.
- 40:25Y'all hold on because uh I'm going to
- 40:27ask for some insight from my brother.
- 40:28But let's keep going on because we're
- 40:30talking about the scriptures. We're
- 40:31talking about we're talking about divine
- 40:33writings.
- 40:34>> What is their perspective though when it
- 40:37comes to um the scriptures that came
- 40:41before the Quran? Because my
- 40:43understanding
- 40:44>> there's a couple of them. It's either
- 40:46the text was changed or uh the text that
- 40:49we have today is intact. So it means
- 40:53it's never been changed, but the meaning
- 40:55is different or whatever. So kind of
- 40:57explain kind of their their how do they
- 41:01see or interpret the scriptures that
- 41:04came before the Quran.
- 41:05>> Yep. Mixed mixed views. Okay. Mixed
- 41:07views. And you these mixed views go far
- 41:10into early Islam, like really really
- 41:12early Islam. Their biggest scholars,
- 41:14their biggest um you know uh
- 41:17interpreters of the Quran had they were
- 41:19split on this issue. So you had some
- 41:22that believed that the scriptures were
- 41:23totally corrupted textually.
- 41:26Um you had uh people who believed like
- 41:29well they were kind of in the middle
- 41:30where they didn't believe that they were
- 41:32text uh corrupted textually like uh
- 41:34completely but they were mostly
- 41:36preserved with slight textual
- 41:38corruption. Then you had the group that
- 41:40believes that the scriptures are
- 41:42preserved that they're not corrupted
- 41:44textually. However, people just misuse
- 41:48them and misunderstand them and
- 41:49misinterpret them. So, and lie about
- 41:51what the text says. Okay? So, you have a
- 41:54you have different groups. Now, if
- 41:56you're talking about now modern day
- 41:58Muslims, the the the majority rule, the
- 42:02majority view is that the scriptures are
- 42:04have been textually corrupted. Like what
- 42:06we have today is not what the Quran was
- 42:09talking about. It like it doesn't match.
- 42:11But there may be some remnants of the
- 42:14original scriptures in what we have
- 42:17today. And so you'll get mixed views on
- 42:19that. And so basically it's a whatever
- 42:21agrees with the Quran, that's the good
- 42:23part. Whatever disagrees with the Quran
- 42:25and proves the Quran false, that part's
- 42:27corrupted.
- 42:28>> That's how they do that. That's the
- 42:29view. That's how they use it. Um you
- 42:32even have infighting with Muslims today,
- 42:33like the Muslim apologists on YouTube
- 42:35and the internet, some of their shakes.
- 42:37Um because you have some Muslims because
- 42:39of this issue of the Islamic dilemma
- 42:42that the Quran affirms our scriptures
- 42:43yet disagrees with them. Um they have to
- 42:47deal with this logically, right? And so
- 42:49they're like, "Okay, it doesn't make
- 42:51sense for us to just say it's corrupted.
- 42:54We have to acknowledge like, okay, yeah,
- 42:56the scriptures are there." Um, however,
- 43:00some can be interpolation, some can be
- 43:03so the Torah that we have, the Bible we
- 43:05have is what the Quran is talking about.
- 43:07And you have Muslims that are furious
- 43:09with those type of people that say that.
- 43:11>> They hate that view because that debunks
- 43:14all of Islam. It's trouble,
- 43:15>> right?
- 43:16>> And it makes Islam look like it needs
- 43:18the Bible.
- 43:19>> So, they hate that they are giving up to
- 43:21that position. You have the other
- 43:23Muslims that completely I don't care
- 43:26what they have today. The Bible is not
- 43:28the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms
- 43:30that the Quran is talking about.
- 43:33>> Which leads to our question then. What
- 43:34is the Injil?
- 43:36>> Okay.
- 43:36>> What is the Torah?
- 43:37>> Right?
- 43:37>> What is it? You tell me then since I
- 43:39don't have it. You tell me. You must
- 43:40know what it is,
- 43:41>> right?
- 43:42>> Okay. All right. So, that's that is some
- 43:44really solid background. We could go
- 43:46into a lot more background, a lot more
- 43:47detail, but let's dig into
- 43:51>> some answers. Yep.
- 43:55>> All right. So, I'm a I'm a I'm a Muslim.
- 43:59I come to you and I make the claim
- 44:01because we got lots of claims here, but
- 44:03I make the claim that the Bible has been
- 44:05corrupted.
- 44:06>> Right. [clears throat] Y uh the Bible
- 44:08that you read today, it's been
- 44:09corrupted. Yeah.
- 44:10>> So, how do you
- 44:12>> give a defense? How do you answer that?
- 44:16How do you practically on your live
- 44:19streams or in conversation? How do you
- 44:21practically step by step help a Muslim
- 44:24understand this concept of one of their
- 44:27biggest claims, the Bible has been
- 44:29corrupted? Yeah. And why and and remind
- 44:31us again why they why that's important
- 44:35for them to say that and believe that.
- 44:36>> Okay. So they have to believe that the
- 44:38Bible's corrupted because the Quran
- 44:41affirms the Bible. Uh yet the the Bible
- 44:45contradicts the Quran. So to solve this
- 44:48conundrum to there has to be some
- 44:50explanation. The Quran can't be wrong.
- 44:52It just can't be. That means that
- 44:54>> start with that Quran is right.
- 44:55>> Quran is right. That's the
- 44:57presupposition. The Quran is right.
- 44:58>> But in the Quran it also affirms the
- 45:00Bible.
- 45:01>> The Bible is right.
- 45:02>> So if the Bible is right, then you know
- 45:07it can't be your Bible. Like something
- 45:09had to happen to where now there's
- 45:11disagreement with the Quran and the
- 45:12Bible. And it can't be the Quran making
- 45:15mistakes. So it must be some corruption
- 45:17that took place. That has to be the
- 45:19answer. So the Quran is still right. The
- 45:21Quran is still good. You guys have the
- 45:23problem. There's all these mixtures and
- 45:26these Bibles and tetrovariances and all
- 45:29this kind of stuff. You guys have the
- 45:30problem. The Quran is perfectly fine. So
- 45:33what the Quran was talking about
- 45:35originally was good. You guys messed it
- 45:37up. Something has gotten corrupted
- 45:40years. Bible that you see today isn't
- 45:43the same Bible that our Quran affirmed
- 45:45correct
- 45:46>> when it was written about.
- 45:47>> That's right. So, I like to ask this
- 45:50question. Okay, this is one angle you
- 45:52can go with. Really fun one.
- 45:55When would you say
- 45:57that the Bible got corrupted? Was it
- 46:00before Muhammad's time or was it after
- 46:02Muhammad's time? What would you say?
- 46:04Ballpark.
- 46:05>> All right. So, I'm going to play I'm
- 46:07going to play play devil's advocate.
- 46:08I'll play. Okay. So you're asking me
- 46:11when would I would probably say that it
- 46:14was corrupted
- 46:17after Muhammad's time.
- 46:18>> Okay, good. So then that means we're all
- 46:21good to go because my Bible predates
- 46:22Muhammad. We have our Bible comes from
- 46:25the manuscripts and scrolls from the
- 46:27Dead Sea that are almost 200 years
- 46:29before Jesus. Our Greek manuscripts come
- 46:32before the seventh century come before
- 46:34Muhammad. Second, third, fourth, fifth
- 46:35uh century. So what what I have is what
- 46:39Muhammad was affirming in the in the
- 46:40Quran in his time. So I'm good to go. So
- 46:44if whatever happened after that got
- 46:46corrupted, cool. Fine. I have what is
- 46:49before. So the Bible that I have is
- 46:52preserved according to your position.
- 46:54>> All right. So wait wait wait. Break that
- 46:55break that down again. So yeah, so if if
- 46:57a Muslim says, "I believe that the Bible
- 47:00was corrupted after
- 47:03>> after Muhammad's time,
- 47:04>> after Muhammad's time,
- 47:06>> then what you're saying is then if
- 47:08that's the case, then that's even worse
- 47:11for them." Because that means that their
- 47:14Quran
- 47:15affirmed
- 47:17what we have today.
- 47:19>> What we have today
- 47:19>> because what we have today is before
- 47:22Muhammad's time. Our manuscripts come
- 47:25before Muhammad's time, right? So look,
- 47:27think of it. Muhammad came 600 years
- 47:30after Jesus, right? So seventh century,
- 47:32right?
- 47:33>> Our manuscripts of the New Testament
- 47:35alone. Our New Testament manuscripts are
- 47:38second, 3rd, 4th, fifth century, right?
- 47:41[clears throat]
- 47:41>> So they come before Muhammad was even
- 47:43born,
- 47:44>> right?
- 47:45>> So if the Bible got corrupted after
- 47:47Muhammad's time, so everything before
- 47:49Muhammad's time was good to go. the
- 47:52corruption took place after. Well, then
- 47:55my Bible meets the criteria of the
- 47:57preservation because my Bible
- 47:59manuscripts come before Muhammad's time,
- 48:02which is what you're saying the Quran is
- 48:04affirming. So, if you're saying the
- 48:07Bible was corrupted after, then you're
- 48:09not talking about mine. Mine is good to
- 48:11go. My stuff comes before Muhammad.
- 48:14>> Understand?
- 48:15>> Yeah.
- 48:15>> So, that's a conundrum, which is why
- 48:18most of them would say before.
- 48:20>> Okay. You you'll get these fringe ones
- 48:22that say, "Oh, yeah, after."
- 48:24>> But most of them say it got corrupted
- 48:25before Muhammad's time. By the time
- 48:27Muhammad hopped on the scene, the
- 48:29scriptures were already corrupted, which
- 48:30is why Muhammad had to come in the first
- 48:32place and fix everything. That's what
- 48:34the Quran does. It comes and it fixes
- 48:35and clarifies where they made mistakes
- 48:38and where they corrupted the message.
- 48:40>> Okay? So the Quran
- 48:42is affirming when it says it confirms
- 48:44the scriptures, it's confirming the
- 48:46original Torah and Gospel and Psalms
- 48:49that was originally revealed to Moses
- 48:51and Jesus and David before people
- 48:54corrupted it over time before Muhammad
- 48:57was born.
- 48:58>> Right? So they're saying, let me see if
- 49:00I can break this down. So Muhammad was
- 49:02born 7th century
- 49:05>> and a lot of the Muslims believe that ma
- 49:09uh that that that the Bible was
- 49:12corrupted before uh the Quran.
- 49:16>> So that means that essentially they
- 49:20would say that the original Christian
- 49:24writings Yeah. Moses Okay. Yeah. We'll
- 49:27give you when Moses wrote it down, the
- 49:29tablets and everything. That's legit.
- 49:31>> Um, but somehow
- 49:34between that time and when Muhammad
- 49:37came,
- 49:39>> something got corrupted along the way.
- 49:41>> Yeah.
- 49:42>> And so therefore, Muhammad had to come
- 49:44in and correct that and give true
- 49:49>> give the true message, right?
- 49:51>> And clarify where they corrupted things.
- 49:54>> But here's [snorts] my question, though.
- 49:57He in the Quran they affirm what though?
- 50:01They affirm
- 50:03>> That's the question.
- 50:04>> They they affirm a corrupted
- 50:06>> That's the question. So So here So watch
- 50:09this.
- 50:09>> Yeah. They confirm a corrupted Bible.
- 50:11>> It can't. Well, here's the problem. If
- 50:14they say that it's corrupted before
- 50:16Muhammad's time, well then the Quran
- 50:20says this in chapter 2 41. It says,
- 50:23"Believe in what I have sent down."
- 50:25Talking about the Quran. Believe in the
- 50:26Quran, right? Believe in what? Talking
- 50:28to the Jews and to people of the book.
- 50:30Believe in what I have sent down.
- 50:33Confirming that which is already with
- 50:35you.
- 50:37So
- 50:39if the So the Quran is confirming in
- 50:42Muhammad's time what is with the Jews
- 50:44and Christians, the scriptures they have
- 50:47possession of. But you're saying that
- 50:49the scriptures they have possession of
- 50:50are corrupted. So then that would mean
- 50:53that the Quran is saying corrupted books
- 50:55are true. It's confirming corrupted
- 50:57scripture.
- 50:58>> Oh, okay. I see what you're saying.
- 51:00Yeah.
- 51:01>> So then now this is a conundrum.
- 51:03>> Yeah.
- 51:08>> If the Quran is saying that fabricated
- 51:11scripture is true, it's confirming
- 51:13fabricated scripture, then the Quran is
- 51:15false,
- 51:16>> right?
- 51:17>> Because fabricated scripture ain't true,
- 51:20>> right?
- 51:20>> It's false.
- 51:21>> Right? But the Quran is saying that
- 51:22false scripture is true. So the Quran is
- 51:24false,
- 51:24>> right? Yeah. By confirming something
- 51:26that is false or that you say is false.
- 51:30>> That then makes your book false cuz now
- 51:32you're putting your stamp of approval on
- 51:34another false document.
- 51:36>> Yeah. Exactly. Exactly.
- 51:38>> So, so now you have this horn of the
- 51:41dilemma. If the scriptures are corrupted
- 51:44before Muhammad's time, then the Quran
- 51:46is confirming corrupted scriptures and
- 51:48therefore the Quran is false. If the
- 51:50Quran, if the scriptures were corrupted
- 51:53after Muhammad's time, then the Quran is
- 51:56is confirming the Bible we have and the
- 51:58Quran is false for contradicting the
- 52:00Bible.
- 52:03>> Either way you go, Islam is false.
- 52:05>> Yeah,
- 52:06>> that's one angle. So, so then, okay,
- 52:08let's take it there. So,
- 52:09>> when you present this
- 52:12>> in conversations live with people,
- 52:15>> y
- 52:15>> how do they respond?
- 52:17I mean that's that's a tough one to
- 52:19wiggle your way out of.
- 52:20>> Yeah, it's impossible.
- 52:20>> Very Yeah,
- 52:21>> it's impossible. So what they'll try to
- 52:23say is is that they'll say, "Well, the
- 52:25Quran is not confirming all of the
- 52:28scripture. It's confirming it
- 52:30partially." So it's not saying that all
- 52:33of their scripture is true, but just
- 52:35some of the parts.
- 52:36>> But it doesn't say that.
- 52:36>> It doesn't say that. It says it's
- 52:38confirming what they have. Everything
- 52:40that I have, the Quran is saying is
- 52:42true. Right? But here's the thing
- 52:44though. This is why This is why I like
- 52:47the Quran. The Quran done did all the
- 52:49work for us, Allan. [laughter]
- 52:51We don't got a lift of every objection
- 52:53that a Muslim can raise. The Quran
- 52:56thought of and answered it. So when a
- 52:58Muslim tries to come and say, "Yeah, uh,
- 53:01it only confirms part of the scripture.
- 53:04It's not saying all of it is true,
- 53:06right? So you can believe in part of it
- 53:07and reject the corrupted parts." Well,
- 53:09this is what the Quran has to say about
- 53:11that in chapter 2 verse 85. Talking
- 53:14talking to the Jews, it says, "Yet it is
- 53:16you who slay each other and drive out a
- 53:19party of your people from their from
- 53:21their homes, supporting one another
- 53:22against them by sin and transgression.
- 53:25And if they come to you as captives, you
- 53:26would ransom them. Whereas their
- 53:28expulsion was itself unlawful for you."
- 53:31So just to break this down, Jews were
- 53:34basically siding with enemies and ex and
- 53:37exposion u um getting uh basically going
- 53:39against their own fellow Jews which is
- 53:42against what Allah revealed in the Torah
- 53:45basically. Right? So it then goes on to
- 53:48say, "Do you believe in part of the
- 53:52scripture and reject the rest?
- 53:55Those who do that among you will be
- 53:58disgraced in this life and in the in the
- 54:02hereafter in the next life there awaits
- 54:04for them the most severe punishment. Oh,
- 54:07so let me let me back up. So their own
- 54:10scripture says it's not right to believe
- 54:12in some parts and reject others.
- 54:14>> Correct. So if their scripture says we
- 54:17need to accept and confirm that which is
- 54:19already with us, but then now in 2026,
- 54:22you're coming and telling me, well, only
- 54:24certain parts, that goes against what
- 54:26your Bible says.
- 54:27>> That goes against what your Quran says.
- 54:29>> The Quran tells me to believe in all of
- 54:32the scripture, not take part of it.
- 54:35You're telling me to take part of it.
- 54:37>> Who should I go with, Allah or you?
- 54:40>> I think I'm team Allah on this one,
- 54:42>> right?
- 54:42>> I'm going to be team Muhammad,
- 54:43>> right? you know, I'm not gonna listen to
- 54:45the 2026 Muslim, you know, because I
- 54:48want to I I don't want a severe
- 54:49punishment,
- 54:50>> right? I don't. So, for me to be a good
- 54:52Christian, matter of fact, this is what
- 54:54the Quran tells me to do. In chapter
- 54:565:68, it says this. Say to the people of
- 54:59the book, say, people of the book, Jews
- 55:02and Christians, you have nothing to
- 55:04stand on unless you observe the Torah
- 55:08and the Gospel and all that's been
- 55:10revealed to you from your Lord. all of
- 55:13it. So, hold on a second. The Quran
- 55:17tells me that I have no foundation. I
- 55:22have nothing to stand on unless I
- 55:25observe the Torah and the Gospel and
- 55:27what's been revealed to me from my Lord.
- 55:30How can I observe something that is
- 55:32corrupted?
- 55:34>> How can I let's say, well, no, it's not
- 55:36corrupted. Let's say it's lost. How can
- 55:38I observe something that's lost?
- 55:41It's it's it's saying I have access to
- 55:43it, that I have possession of it, and
- 55:46that I need to stand on it, or else I'm
- 55:48in trouble.
- 55:49>> So, the Quran doesn't have this view
- 55:51that the scriptures are corrupted or
- 55:55lost. It has the view that these
- 55:56scriptures are authoritative, are
- 55:58preserved, are revelations of God, and
- 56:01if you don't follow them, you will be in
- 56:03trouble.
- 56:04>> You're a wrongdoer.
- 56:05>> Yeah.
- 56:06>> Matter of fact, here's another one.
- 56:07Chapter 5, verse 47. And these are
- 56:10verses. You guys can remind this. Take
- 56:11this back. Yeah, we'll mark these down.
- 56:13Good. Put them on screen. Yeah.
- 56:14>> Chapter 5:47. This is one every
- 56:17Christian should know. It says, "Let the
- 56:19people of the gospel judge by what Allah
- 56:23has revealed therein." In the gospel, it
- 56:27says, "Whoever does not judge by what
- 56:29Allah has revealed, then they are the
- 56:31wrongdoers."
- 56:32>> Okay. Wait, break that down in simple
- 56:34language. Explain that again. So, what
- 56:35what what is that really saying? It's
- 56:37saying to use the gospel as your judge,
- 56:40as your authority.
- 56:41>> Which gospel?
- 56:42>> The gospel that was given to Jesus.
- 56:44>> Okay.
- 56:44>> So, the gospel of Jesus. Yeah. The NGO.
- 56:48The Quran doesn't doesn't think that
- 56:49there's multiple gospels. It's one
- 56:52gospel. The gospel of Jesus, right?
- 56:54>> The same thing that Mark 1:1 says, this
- 56:56is the gospel of Jesus Christ, the son
- 56:58of God. Okay?
- 56:59>> Right? One gospel, Jesus Christ.
- 57:01>> Believe in the gospel. It says people of
- 57:04the gospel, let the people of the
- 57:05gospel, meaning those Christians who
- 57:07follow the gospel, let the people of the
- 57:10gospel judge by what Allah has revealed
- 57:12in it. So one, the gospel is a
- 57:15revelation of a law and we are to use it
- 57:18as our criteria, our judge.
- 57:21>> If I'm a good Christian, then I'm going
- 57:23to judge by the gospel. Everything that
- 57:25I see, I'm going to compare to the
- 57:27gospel. My gospel is the litmus test.
- 57:30>> So what goes with the gospel? Good to
- 57:32go. What goes against the gospel is
- 57:35false.
- 57:35>> So, right in their book, they're telling
- 57:38they're saying that the gospel is
- 57:40basically the litmus test.
- 57:42>> Yes. For for Christians.
- 57:44>> For Christians specifically,
- 57:45>> right? So, to to be fair, like it it it
- 57:48does this for all the books. So, um in a
- 57:51few verses before it says to the Jews,
- 57:55>> why do Okay, so it's actually it's
- 57:57talking to Muhammad in context. The Jews
- 58:00tried to come to Muhammad for a
- 58:02judgment, like somebody committed
- 58:03adultery. And so therefore, they're
- 58:05like, "We don't want to do what the
- 58:06Torah tells us to do. Let's go to
- 58:08Muhammad and get a different ruling."
- 58:10Right? But the Quran responds and says
- 58:12this, "Why do they come to you,
- 58:14Muhammad, for judgment when they have
- 58:17the Torah
- 58:18>> in which Allah's judgment is in,
- 58:20>> right?
- 58:20>> But even still, they turn away." So the
- 58:23Quran is saying that the Jews are to use
- 58:24the Torah for judgment. Mhm.
- 58:26>> The Christians are supposed to use the
- 58:28gospel for judgment.
- 58:29>> Okay.
- 58:29>> And then the next verse in verse 48, the
- 58:32Muslims are supposed to use the Quran
- 58:33for judgment. Right?
- 58:35>> But not to judge the previous
- 58:36scriptures, but to judge and rule
- 58:37themselves.
- 58:38>> Right?
- 58:38>> Okay. So notice the Quran here is
- 58:42affirming the authority of all these
- 58:44books.
- 58:46>> The Torah is authoritative. The the
- 58:48Gospel is authoritative. The Quran is
- 58:50authoritative. And it says in verse 48,
- 58:52it says, "To each of you we give we have
- 58:55given you your own law and to compete in
- 58:58doing good." Right? So each one has been
- 59:02given a revelation and a law to govern
- 59:04themselves, to judge themselves, right?
- 59:07Um but all the revelations you're
- 59:09supposed to believe in all of them, but
- 59:11specifically the ones that's given to a
- 59:12particular community, that's what you
- 59:14use to govern with.
- 59:16>> Make sense? Okay. Yep. Yeah, it makes
- 59:18perfect sense. So speaking of the
- 59:19gospel, um we as Christians, we see the
- 59:23gospel as four books.
- 59:25>> In their minds, the gospel is just one
- 59:28book or message, correct me if I'm
- 59:30wrong, that God Allah gave Jesus. Yeah.
- 59:33>> It's not like Matthew, Mark, Luke, and
- 59:35John.
- 59:36Uh it's just it's a message.
- 59:39>> Yeah. Yeah. So it's interesting. So they
- 59:41see it as a book, but um like so like
- 59:44Yeah. This is what confuses confuses the
- 59:46Muslims. They have this idea that we
- 59:49believe in four different gospels, but
- 59:51we don't. We believe in one gospel that
- 59:53has four accounts,
- 59:54>> right?
- 59:55>> It's four accounts of the same gospel,
- 59:57right?
- 59:57>> It's the gospel of Jesus just accounted
- 59:59by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
- 1:00:00>> It's like if I saw an accident on the
- 1:00:02road, you know, I saw it as, you know, a
- 1:00:06bystander. Somebody else could have seen
- 1:00:08it as, you know,
- 1:00:09>> the driver
- 1:00:10>> the driver the passenger or
- 1:00:13>> the person who who actually ran into
- 1:00:16them. Exactly.
- 1:00:16>> Different
- 1:00:17>> perspectives, but it's still one event.
- 1:00:19Exactly. Accident.
- 1:00:21>> Exactly. Yeah.
- 1:00:21>> So it's one gospel. This is why like the
- 1:00:23early church called it the four-fold
- 1:00:25gospel, right? Um so it's one gospel,
- 1:00:28four accounts. So with them, they'll be
- 1:00:30like, "Oh, so the the Quran is affirming
- 1:00:33the gospel of Jesus, not the gospel of
- 1:00:35Matthew, not the gospel of Luke or John
- 1:00:37or Mark. It's the gospel of Jesus." And
- 1:00:40that's a fundamental misunderstanding of
- 1:00:43what the gospel is according to
- 1:00:45Christians even according to the
- 1:00:46scripture like Mark like I mentioned
- 1:00:48this earlier Mark 1:1 starts off by this
- 1:00:50saying this
- 1:00:51>> this is the gospel of Jesus he doesn't
- 1:00:53say this gospel of Mark
- 1:00:54>> right
- 1:00:55>> this is the gospel of Jesus the son of
- 1:00:57God the beginning of the gospel of Jesus
- 1:00:59Christ the son of God that's what he
- 1:01:00says so they all attest that this is the
- 1:01:03gospel of Jesus so um you fix that in
- 1:01:07but they'll still say that okay but what
- 1:01:09you have is not the gospel. It's not the
- 1:01:12NGO. So then the next question would be
- 1:01:15then what is it?
- 1:01:16>> If it's not Matthew, Mark, Luke, and
- 1:01:18John, what is it? What's the gospel?
- 1:01:20>> Yeah,
- 1:01:20>> tell me since you if you know what it's
- 1:01:23not, you can tell me what it is,
- 1:01:25>> right?
- 1:01:25>> So what is it? And they struggle
- 1:01:29>> to explain the gospel actually
- 1:01:31>> because they'll just repeat. They'll
- 1:01:32repeat like a bot. It's the revelation
- 1:01:34given to Jesus. Okay, I got that. But
- 1:01:36what was that? The revelation. Thank
- 1:01:37you. What was the revelation given to
- 1:01:38Jesus? What did he go around preaching?
- 1:01:41What was it?
- 1:01:42>> What did they say?
- 1:01:42>> And they it was it was the message of
- 1:01:44God. Okay. So, let me exactly. So, then
- 1:01:48so to get out of that circle, throw them
- 1:01:50a bone. You begin to lead them with
- 1:01:52questions. So, for example, you ask
- 1:01:54them, okay, was it a physical book? Was
- 1:01:56Jesus walking around with like a
- 1:01:57physical book called the Gospel or was
- 1:02:00it just an oral revelation? All right.
- 1:02:03So, depending on their answer, they'll
- 1:02:04most likely say it's just an oral. Jesus
- 1:02:06didn't write anything down. He didn't
- 1:02:07have a book, but it was an oral
- 1:02:09revelation or he was preaching an oral
- 1:02:11message. Okay, cool. It was an oral
- 1:02:13message. Okay, I could get with you on
- 1:02:14that. Jesus was he didn't write anything
- 1:02:16down. We believe the same thing. That's
- 1:02:17interesting. Do you believe that it got
- 1:02:19written down eventually? Some of them
- 1:02:21might say, "No, it might it didn't get
- 1:02:23written down." You'll be surprised
- 1:02:24they'll say that. But the Quran says in
- 1:02:27chapter 7, verse 157, there's another
- 1:02:30important verse for Christians to know.
- 1:02:32It says those who follow the messenger
- 1:02:37who can neither read or write [snorts]
- 1:02:39whom they find written in the Torah and
- 1:02:43the Gospel with them. So this verse is
- 1:02:47saying that the Jews and Christians in
- 1:02:49Muhammad's time have written documents
- 1:02:52of the Torah and the Gospel and they can
- 1:02:54find the Muhammad's mention in them.
- 1:02:58You'll find Muhammad written in there.
- 1:03:00Maybe not by name, but maybe by
- 1:03:01description, right? He's prophesied in
- 1:03:03there somewhere, right? So again, that's
- 1:03:05Torah and gospel.
- 1:03:06>> Torah and Gospel.
- 1:03:07>> So that means the gospel had to been
- 1:03:08written down.
- 1:03:08>> Yes. The gospel was written down. So
- 1:03:11they'll accept that. Okay. Yeah. The
- 1:03:12Okay. Yeah. I see the the gospel was
- 1:03:14written down. Cool. Because it says that
- 1:03:16in certain translations, it might say
- 1:03:18you'll find them described in the Torah
- 1:03:20and Gospel, right? But the word is
- 1:03:22mocktubin in the Arabic, which literally
- 1:03:24means written down. Means written. So
- 1:03:27don't let them play.
- 1:03:28>> Okay. The word is written. Okay. So the
- 1:03:31gospel was written down. They Oh,
- 1:03:32they'll accept it. Okay, cool. So then
- 1:03:34the next question is who wrote it?
- 1:03:39Who wrote the gospel? Who wrote the NGO?
- 1:03:42Uh not Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Well,
- 1:03:45okay. Thank you for telling me who
- 1:03:47didn't write it,
- 1:03:48>> but who did?
- 1:03:48>> Who did?
- 1:03:49>> Right.
- 1:03:49>> Who wrote it?
- 1:03:50>> And what did it say?
- 1:03:51>> Mhm. So they'll say, "Well, no, your
- 1:03:54gospel is is anonymous. That's why it's
- 1:03:56not the Injil. It's not the Gospel of
- 1:03:57Jesus. Because your gospel authors, we
- 1:03:59don't even know who Matthew, Mark, Luke,
- 1:04:00and John are. Okay, let me go with that.
- 1:04:03Who wrote the Injil?
- 1:04:05The Quran doesn't say, "Oh, so it's
- 1:04:06anonymous."
- 1:04:09So, you don't know who wrote it, but you
- 1:04:10still accept it? Interesting. So, it
- 1:04:12sounds like what I have meets your
- 1:04:14criteria of what the angel is so far.
- 1:04:16It's written down
- 1:04:18>> and it's anonymous.
- 1:04:18>> It's anonymous. We don't necessarily
- 1:04:20know who. But, let me ask you this.
- 1:04:22Would it make sense that maybe people
- 1:04:24who knew Jesus wrote it, like his
- 1:04:26disciples, they'll say, "Yes." Yeah.
- 1:04:29Okay, cool. We believe the same,
- 1:04:30>> right?
- 1:04:31>> We believe the same that Jesus's
- 1:04:32disciples would have written down the
- 1:04:35gospel, who were they,
- 1:04:37>> right? If if you believe that the
- 1:04:40disciples were the ones who likely wrote
- 1:04:42it down, then what? Who's to say that?
- 1:04:45How do you know that Matthew, Mark,
- 1:04:46Luke, and John didn't write it?
- 1:04:48>> Right? How do you know they don't?
- 1:04:51because we don't know them. Well, you
- 1:04:52just said you don't know the authors of
- 1:04:54the NGO.
- 1:04:55>> So, we don't have to know who Matthew,
- 1:04:56Mark, Luke, and John are to know that
- 1:04:59they are the ones who wrote it down.
- 1:05:01>> According to all this, it breaks down
- 1:05:04what everything that you're saying about
- 1:05:06the NGO backfires cuz it's matching what
- 1:05:09you're saying about my gospel.
- 1:05:10>> And you have nothing else to go to.
- 1:05:13>> You have nothing else.
- 1:05:15>> So, it's either you come here and come
- 1:05:18come on over. just come on over
- 1:05:20>> or you stay stuck in this mud and this
- 1:05:23delusion and you look stupid and sound
- 1:05:25stupid and you know it. You know you
- 1:05:27don't you you're not making any sense
- 1:05:29right now.
- 1:05:34Jesus never claimed to be God. Okay,
- 1:05:37that's another one of the things that um
- 1:05:40that that we as Christians need to be
- 1:05:42prepared for them. Y
- 1:05:44>> uh because they'll make that claim that,
- 1:05:46you know, Jesus isn't God and he never
- 1:05:48claimed to be God. So
- 1:05:50>> if if we hear that, you know, how do we
- 1:05:53how do we uh how do we respond and give
- 1:05:55evidence?
- 1:05:56>> Well, usually their their their attack
- 1:05:59is that when they say Jesus never
- 1:06:00claimed to be God, they're saying Jesus
- 1:06:02never said the verbatim words, "I am
- 1:06:04God. Worship me." That's what they mean,
- 1:06:06>> right? And so Jesus never said, "I am
- 1:06:09God." So therefore, he never claimed to
- 1:06:10be God. So then you can turn the tables.
- 1:06:13You can show them how silly that logic
- 1:06:15is. You can use the Quran to do it.
- 1:06:17Jesus, can you ask them, can you show me
- 1:06:19anywhere where Jesus said in the Quran,
- 1:06:21I am the Messiah?
- 1:06:23Cuz he never does.
- 1:06:25>> Jesus [clears throat] never said, I am
- 1:06:26the Messiah in the Quran. And you do
- 1:06:28have Jesus speaking in the Quran. So you
- 1:06:30can't say, well, the Quran isn't about
- 1:06:32Jesus's words. It's Allah's words. No,
- 1:06:34it quotes. The Quran quotes Jesus. It
- 1:06:36says that he's a messenger. He says, I
- 1:06:38am a messenger sent by Allah. I'm a
- 1:06:40prophet. Right. He He speaks. He says,
- 1:06:42"Your Lord and my Lord, worship him." He
- 1:06:45speaks. Where does he say, "I am the
- 1:06:47Messiah?" He doesn't. Okay. You know
- 1:06:49what? That might be too hard. Can you
- 1:06:51show me where Jesus says, "I am born of
- 1:06:52a virgin?"
- 1:06:54No. Oh, but you believe that, right?
- 1:06:57>> Right.
- 1:06:58>> Oh, you believe he's the Messiah. You
- 1:06:59believe he's born of a virgin. But Jesus
- 1:07:01never claimed this in your Quran. Okay.
- 1:07:04Do Can you show me where Jesus said, "I
- 1:07:06am a word from Allah?"
- 1:07:08You believe that? The Quran says it, but
- 1:07:11Jesus never said that about himself.
- 1:07:13[clears throat]
- 1:07:13>> So even though Jesus never claimed these
- 1:07:16things, you still believe them. Why?
- 1:07:19They'll say because God said so. Allah
- 1:07:21said it. This is this these are Allah's
- 1:07:23words. Okay, good. So if the Quran says
- 1:07:26that Jesus is all these things without
- 1:07:28him claiming it, then I don't even need
- 1:07:31for Jesus to say I am God. I can just
- 1:07:33show you that the Bible teaches that.
- 1:07:36>> I can show you that. M
- 1:07:37>> matter of fact to do you better I can
- 1:07:39show you where the father calls him God.
- 1:07:42If we go to Hebrews chapter 1 vers8 the
- 1:07:44the Bible says but of the son he says
- 1:07:47your throne oh god is forever and ever.
- 1:07:50The scepter of a rightness is the
- 1:07:52scepter of your kingdom. Boom. We're
- 1:07:54good to go. You got Allah saying that
- 1:07:57Jesus is Messiah born of a virgin word
- 1:07:59of Allah. And I have the father saying
- 1:08:01Jesus is God. That's one way you can
- 1:08:04attack that. M
- 1:08:05>> another way. So after you show them how
- 1:08:06silly that logic is, you can ask them,
- 1:08:10is this the only way to claim to be God?
- 1:08:13Do I have to say I am God or I am this
- 1:08:16in order to claim to be something? So
- 1:08:17for example, I like to use this example.
- 1:08:18If I were to say, and you can answer
- 1:08:20this, Alan, if I were to say I have
- 1:08:22students and I give them lessons, what
- 1:08:25did I just claim to be?
- 1:08:26>> A teacher.
- 1:08:27>> Yes. But I didn't say I am a teacher,
- 1:08:28did I?
- 1:08:29>> No. So, I claimed to be something
- 1:08:31without having to say the explicit
- 1:08:32verbatim words, I am a teacher. I claim
- 1:08:35to be a teacher.
- 1:08:35>> I sign homework. I grade papers. I grade
- 1:08:38tests. I have students. They come to me
- 1:08:41after school. I tutor them
- 1:08:44>> and I work at this school.
- 1:08:47>> These are very clear claims of being a
- 1:08:49teacher, right?
- 1:08:50>> Yeah. But I didn't say Allan Parr is a
- 1:08:52teacher.
- 1:08:53>> Exactly. So, this is what you can do.
- 1:08:55And so you re you you rephrase the
- 1:08:58question for them is did Jesus claim to
- 1:09:02be God and if so how how did he claim to
- 1:09:06be God?
- 1:09:07>> He doesn't have to say I am God worship
- 1:09:09me but all he has to do is claim the
- 1:09:12attributes and descriptions that belong
- 1:09:14to God alone and then he is claiming to
- 1:09:16be God. So for example I'll ask the
- 1:09:18Muslim who's the only one who gives
- 1:09:21eternal life. They'll say God. I say,
- 1:09:25"Exactly. I agree." Jesus says in John
- 1:09:2810:28, he says that I give my sheep, I
- 1:09:31give them eternal life, and none can
- 1:09:34snatch them out of my hand. That's what
- 1:09:36Jesus says. He gives eternal life. I'll
- 1:09:39ask the Muslim, "Who's the one who's
- 1:09:41going to come and raise the dead on the
- 1:09:42day of judgment?" And it's going to come
- 1:09:44at the hour. They say, "Allah. Allah
- 1:09:47subhana wa ta'ala. He's the one who does
- 1:09:48that. God." Exactly. Well, Jesus says in
- 1:09:51John 5, "The hour is coming where the
- 1:09:53dead will hear the voice of the Son of
- 1:09:54God, and those who hear will live."
- 1:09:57Where he says in John 6:40, "This is the
- 1:09:59will of my father that all are to look
- 1:10:01to the Son and believe in him, and they
- 1:10:03will have eternal life, and I will raise
- 1:10:05him up on the last day."
- 1:10:08Whoa, Jesus, what are you talking about?
- 1:10:10M
- 1:10:10>> you got [clears throat] Matthew 25 where
- 1:10:12Jesus says that the son of man is going
- 1:10:14to come in his glory and with his angels
- 1:10:17and he's going to separate the sheep
- 1:10:18from the goats and to the he's going to
- 1:10:20put the sheep on his right goats on his
- 1:10:22left to the sheep he's going to say come
- 1:10:24enter heaven you who are blessed by my
- 1:10:26father to the goats he's going to say
- 1:10:27depart from me I never knew you into the
- 1:10:29eternal hellfire who does does Jesus
- 1:10:31think he is saying that he's the one who
- 1:10:34decides who goes to heaven and hell
- 1:10:35who's the one who decides to go to
- 1:10:36heaven and hell Mr. Muslim God. So Jesus
- 1:10:40in all these different ways is claiming
- 1:10:42to be God. In Revelation 22:13, Jesus
- 1:10:46says, "I am the first and the last, the
- 1:10:48beginning and the end, the alpha and the
- 1:10:49omega." Ask the Muslim, "Who's the first
- 1:10:51and the last?" And in accordance to the
- 1:10:53Quran in chapter 57:3, it says, "Allah,
- 1:10:56he is the first and the last." Why in
- 1:10:59the world is Allah copying Jesus?
- 1:11:02>> Why? All these things that we see Jesus
- 1:11:05says about himself, Allah says about
- 1:11:07himself in the Quran.
- 1:11:10>> So if this is good enough to make Allah
- 1:11:12God and Allah claim to be God, why isn't
- 1:11:16why isn't it good enough for Jesus to be
- 1:11:18claiming to be God?
- 1:11:20>> Even by Islamic standards, Jesus in the
- 1:11:23Bible claims to be God.
- 1:11:25>> Now, you can reject the Bible all you
- 1:11:26want. You can say that's corrupted. You
- 1:11:28can say, "I disagree with that. I don't
- 1:11:30believe that." But you can't say it
- 1:11:32doesn't say that.
- 1:11:33>> You can't say Jesus didn't claim to be
- 1:11:34God in the Bible. Now you know.
- 1:11:36>> All right. So, let's take it back. So,
- 1:11:37we've covered the Islamic dilemma. Uh
- 1:11:40we've just covered Jesus never claimed
- 1:11:42to be God. Um but I I know a huge huge
- 1:11:47>> sticking point in these conversations is
- 1:11:51the Christian belief of the Trinity. I
- 1:11:54think that is a
- 1:11:56>> as we mentioned earlier, we were going
- 1:11:57to come back to it. this concept of
- 1:11:59sherk and uh
- 1:12:08>> how can a Christian give a good
- 1:12:11apologetic or a defense to a Muslim who
- 1:12:16is utterly offended by this doctrine
- 1:12:21that Christians promote [clears throat]
- 1:12:23>> that God is three and yet one.
- 1:12:28>> Um, how can we how can we defend that
- 1:12:31>> and what are some things we probably
- 1:12:33shouldn't do? I mean, there's some
- 1:12:35there's some pretty bad analogies that
- 1:12:36when it comes to Trinity, so you can
- 1:12:38maybe touch on those a little bit, but
- 1:12:40what what what how can we how can we
- 1:12:43kind of respond to that? Yeah,
- 1:12:44>> I know that's a you know, that's a big
- 1:12:46one.
- 1:12:46>> Yeah. Don't respond with analogies.
- 1:12:47Don't do that.
- 1:12:48>> You mean the egg?
- 1:12:49>> The egg. You me mind, body, soul?
- 1:12:52>> Yeah.
- 1:12:52>> I'm I'm three.
- 1:12:53>> What about the water and steam and the
- 1:12:55and the ice?
- 1:12:55>> And the ice. No. No, don't do that. Do
- 1:12:58not start with with analogies. No. Yes.
- 1:13:01And partialism and all these other
- 1:13:03things
- 1:13:04>> guys. Um so for Muslims
- 1:13:08>> um [clears throat]
- 1:13:10it's difficult because like we said
- 1:13:13earlier to think that God has a that
- 1:13:16like there's a plurality within God is
- 1:13:19so beyond like it's no. It's just no.
- 1:13:23It's a no no. Right. But at the same
- 1:13:26time they themselves believe in a in a
- 1:13:30plurality within a unity like the the
- 1:13:33the whole concept ofhed is the concept
- 1:13:36that these attributes of God they're all
- 1:13:39distinct and they are unified and they
- 1:13:42make Allah what and who he is. So his
- 1:13:47lordship, his his his arms, his hands,
- 1:13:51his uh power, his knowledge, his word,
- 1:13:55all his speech, all of this is unified
- 1:13:58to make Allah who and what he is.
- 1:14:01There's a plurality of attributes. Not a
- 1:14:03plurality of persons, they would say,
- 1:14:04but a plurality of attributes. But
- 1:14:06here's the thing. What we what what we
- 1:14:10believe about Jesus, right? how he is
- 1:14:12the eternal word of God who eternally is
- 1:14:17is uh united and in essence with the
- 1:14:20father right this is what's this is what
- 1:14:23similarly they believe about the Quran
- 1:14:25they believe that the Quran is Allah's
- 1:14:29eternal uncreated speech his uncreated
- 1:14:33word right but at the same time he's
- 1:14:36distinct from his word his word emanates
- 1:14:39from him and he's distinct from him But
- 1:14:41though his word is not separate from him
- 1:14:44and so they believe that his word is
- 1:14:46unccreated, it's eternal and it's uh and
- 1:14:51it's subsist within Allah. This is what
- 1:14:54we believe about Jesus that he is the
- 1:14:57eternal word of the father who emanates
- 1:15:00from the father eternally is begotten
- 1:15:02from the father right and is distinct
- 1:15:05from the father while being inseparable
- 1:15:07in his essence. They're completely one
- 1:15:10in their essence, in their substance. So
- 1:15:13this concept is not totally alien to
- 1:15:18Islam because they believe this about
- 1:15:20Allah's word. So I think that if we
- 1:15:23present you know the trinity in this way
- 1:15:27to the Muslims to Islam as in not
- 1:15:30focusing necessarily on Jesus the man
- 1:15:33but the Jesus the word the word of the
- 1:15:37father the word of God in comparison to
- 1:15:40Allah and his word. I think that it'll
- 1:15:43be easier to make a connection and how
- 1:15:45we're not saying that there's two
- 1:15:47different gods when it comes to the
- 1:15:48father and Jesus or even his spirit that
- 1:15:50there's three different gods, but that
- 1:15:52there's one God that there's one God
- 1:15:56with a distinct a distinction in persons
- 1:15:59and it doesn't split him up. It doesn't
- 1:16:01split his essence. It doesn't separate
- 1:16:03his his nature like a a pizza. It
- 1:16:06doesn't
- 1:16:07>> it [clears throat] doesn't partialize or
- 1:16:08puts him in parts. Okay. So, I think
- 1:16:10that that's an interesting angle to take
- 1:16:12it. Um, another way is is demonstrating
- 1:16:17to them that that they're conflating two
- 1:16:20issues. They're conflating categories,
- 1:16:22being and personhood. And usually for
- 1:16:24the Muslim, they think that a being and
- 1:16:27a person is one and the same. When we
- 1:16:28say, "Yeah, we believe in three distinct
- 1:16:30persons in one God." They think we're
- 1:16:32saying three different beings,
- 1:16:34>> three gods,
- 1:16:34>> three gods. And so it's important for us
- 1:16:36to make that distinction that no, we're
- 1:16:39saying one being, one divine essence
- 1:16:43and three co-eternal persons, three
- 1:16:45distinct persons, not three different
- 1:16:48essences, not three different beings,
- 1:16:50not expressions, three distinct persons
- 1:16:54that have the same divine essence,
- 1:16:55inseparable.
- 1:16:57>> That's what we're saying. So for
- 1:16:58example, like if I like everything has
- 1:17:01being is just state of existence, right?
- 1:17:04uh a rock has being right. So a rock is
- 1:17:07a being but you wouldn't say that a rock
- 1:17:08is a person. It's an inanimate being
- 1:17:11right. So doesn't that have person let's
- 1:17:13say you go up the ladder to humans human
- 1:17:15beings. A human is a being and also
- 1:17:18there's a human person. There two
- 1:17:20different things being and personhood.
- 1:17:22You can be have being but not
- 1:17:23personhood. But you can't have
- 1:17:25personhood without being. Right. Right.
- 1:17:27>> So every human being has a human person.
- 1:17:30How many human per how many human
- 1:17:31persons are within one human being?
- 1:17:34>> One. Mhm. Each human being is one human
- 1:17:36person. That's us. Now, there's a
- 1:17:38there's billions of human beings and
- 1:17:40human persons, right? When we go up the
- 1:17:43ladder, we go to the divine being, God,
- 1:17:46the divine essence. There's only one of
- 1:17:47those. There's not billions of those or
- 1:17:49not three. There's one of those divine
- 1:17:51being. One divine being. And three, this
- 1:17:54one divine being exists as three
- 1:17:56distinct persons. So unlike the one
- 1:17:58human being who only consists of one
- 1:18:00human person and there's billions of
- 1:18:02human beings, the one divine being
- 1:18:04consists of three persons, he's unlike
- 1:18:07us. So that shouldn't surprise us. It
- 1:18:10shouldn't surprise us if God's essence,
- 1:18:12if God's nature is completely unlike
- 1:18:14ours.
- 1:18:15>> It shouldn't it shouldn't be a surprise.
- 1:18:18So identifying these two categories and
- 1:18:21distinguishing them is important in the
- 1:18:24conversation with anyone when you're
- 1:18:26talking about the Trinity
- 1:18:27>> because usually in every argument
- 1:18:30they're conflating the two.
- 1:18:34>> Let's let's move to the crucifixion.
- 1:18:36>> Yep. because that's um that's one that
- 1:18:39um I think uh in their minds would be um
- 1:18:46it didn't it didn't happen.
- 1:18:48>> So So how do we how do we debunk that?
- 1:18:51How do we give evidence of that? Um
- 1:18:53>> they have to give evidence, not us.
- 1:18:56>> They're the ones who have to give
- 1:18:57evidence to the contrary because
- 1:18:58everybody and they mama knows Jesus was
- 1:19:01crucified.
- 1:19:02>> Right?
- 1:19:03>> You don't have to be a Christian to know
- 1:19:04that. Atheist scholars who they like to
- 1:19:07quote a lot, Bart Urman and Ger Ludman,
- 1:19:09all these atheist historians, right, say
- 1:19:12it is a fact of history, one of the most
- 1:19:14certain facts of history that Jesus was
- 1:19:16crucified in the first century under
- 1:19:18Pontious Pilot,
- 1:19:19>> right?
- 1:19:20>> That's a fact of history,
- 1:19:21>> right?
- 1:19:21>> So, Muslims are coming out and they're
- 1:19:24saying, "Oh, no. Actually, it didn't
- 1:19:25happen. God said psych. He made it look
- 1:19:27like it happened, but it didn't really
- 1:19:29happen." So, they have to bring the
- 1:19:32alternative. They're the ones who have
- 1:19:34to bring evidence to the contrary. So
- 1:19:36what did happen? If we were to go with
- 1:19:38you, what happened then? Who was it?
- 1:19:41Something happened. So like for example,
- 1:19:43if you go with this, uh, Allah made it
- 1:19:47appear so. Cuz you want to ask cuz the
- 1:19:49Quran doesn't say Allah made it appear
- 1:19:51so. It just says it was made to appear
- 1:19:52so. So they don't even know what that
- 1:19:55means. It could be like the disciples
- 1:19:57made it look like it or something in
- 1:19:58disguise. It could be that Allah did
- 1:20:01some type of delusion. It could be
- 1:20:02anything. The Quran is not clear while
- 1:20:05claiming to be a detailed book and
- 1:20:07clear. Um, so you ask them, "What does
- 1:20:10it mean that it was made to appear?" So,
- 1:20:12who who made it appear so, right?
- 1:20:15Usually you'll get Allah. Sometimes you
- 1:20:17won't. And then you have fun with that,
- 1:20:18but usually you'll get Allah made it
- 1:20:20appear that Jesus was crucified. So you
- 1:20:24mean to tell me that Allah in the first
- 1:20:28century
- 1:20:30tricked everyone into believing that
- 1:20:32Jesus was crucified and then waited 600
- 1:20:35years later to say psych I lied to say
- 1:20:39oh it was a joke.
- 1:20:41>> H no I made it I made it look like it.
- 1:20:44So then the disciples, the mothers of
- 1:20:47the mother of Jesus, those who followed
- 1:20:49him, Allah even tricked the believers
- 1:20:51because they'll try to say, well, you
- 1:20:53know, no, he just, you know, it was the
- 1:20:55enemies that he tricked. It was the it
- 1:20:57was it was the ones who tried to kill
- 1:20:59him that he that he uh, you know,
- 1:21:00deceived and gave this delusion. Well,
- 1:21:03no, it wasn't just them. The apostles
- 1:21:05went out saying Jesus rose from the dead
- 1:21:08from being crucified.
- 1:21:10>> That's what they were going out saying.
- 1:21:11Everybody was saying that. So even
- 1:21:13believers who wasn't against Jesus were
- 1:21:15tricked into believing he was crucified.
- 1:21:18So Allah lied and deceived the entire
- 1:21:21world.
- 1:21:23>> Waited 600 years later to say, "Yeah,
- 1:21:25guys, actually I made it I made it
- 1:21:26appear so."
- 1:21:27>> So what does that say about the
- 1:21:28character?
- 1:21:28>> It says that Allah is a deceiver. The
- 1:21:31biggest deceiver, which is what the
- 1:21:32Quran says anyway. It says he's the
- 1:21:34greatest of deceivers.
- 1:21:35>> Yeah.
- 1:21:35>> Chapter 3:54.
- 1:21:36>> Yeah. What does that mean? I don't
- 1:21:38[laughter] understand that. Yeah,
- 1:21:39>> man. This this if you want a religion
- 1:21:41that says this is Satan hiding in plain
- 1:21:44sight, Islam is it.
- 1:21:46>> Because imagine Satan does he didn't
- 1:21:49want to get rid of God. He wanted to be
- 1:21:50like God.
- 1:21:51>> He wanted that worship. He wanted that
- 1:21:52adoration, that attention.
- 1:21:54>> So he disguises himself as the one God
- 1:21:56to be worshiped as the deceiver. creates
- 1:21:58a a a caricature of himself called El
- 1:22:02the Shayan who's not really Satan to
- 1:22:05give them a enemy to fight against to
- 1:22:07think about why they worship him. This
- 1:22:10is silliness. So the the the crucifixion
- 1:22:12conundrum creates a huge problem. They
- 1:22:14are going against history and they have
- 1:22:16to renounce all of history and
- 1:22:18everything we know about history and how
- 1:22:19we come to know history. They have to
- 1:22:21renounce it all in order to uphold the
- 1:22:24Quranic claim that Jesus wasn't
- 1:22:26crucified.
- 1:22:26>> Right? When well-known scholars who
- 1:22:30dedicated their entire lives to studying
- 1:22:32historical fact have gone on record with
- 1:22:35no bias, it's not like these are all
- 1:22:37Christian historians who are like,
- 1:22:38"Yeah, of course we want to say that he
- 1:22:40was crucified." No, these are
- 1:22:41>> atheists. These are just historians who
- 1:22:43have stated facts of history. Yep.
- 1:22:46>> Now you're coming out and saying it just
- 1:22:47appeared that way.
- 1:22:47>> Yep. Who criticized the Bible. Bartman
- 1:22:50is one of the most is the probably the
- 1:22:52well most well-known critic against the
- 1:22:54Bible textually. textual critic and he's
- 1:22:57like, "Yeah, Jesus was crucified on
- 1:23:00Pontious Pilot. That is a fact,
- 1:23:01>> right?"
- 1:23:02>> And the earliest sources that we have of
- 1:23:03it, he appeals to the New Testament
- 1:23:05>> and then he also uses Josephus, the
- 1:23:07Tassis, all these other writings finding
- 1:23:08out. He uses all this all these uh
- 1:23:11independent sources and testimonies.
- 1:23:14Yeah. He was crucified, man. And then
- 1:23:16the birth of the church, the explosion,
- 1:23:18like it's just you have to go against
- 1:23:20history. You have to go against reality.
- 1:23:21>> Yeah.
- 1:23:22>> And that's what the Quran is. But it's
- 1:23:24not just going against reality and
- 1:23:25history. You're going against prophecy.
- 1:23:29You believe in the prophets.
- 1:23:31>> You believe in these scriptures. You so
- 1:23:33you say.
- 1:23:34>> That's interesting concept too. Okay.
- 1:23:36>> When we go into look and look at what
- 1:23:38the prophets taught, Isaiah 53
- 1:23:41>> said that he'll Yeah.
- 1:23:42>> He was wounded for our transgression. Uh
- 1:23:45uh uh you know, he was uh our our sins
- 1:23:47were laid upon him. Yeah.
- 1:23:48>> The Lord put on him the iniquity of us
- 1:23:50all. Right.
- 1:23:51>> He was cut off from the land of the
- 1:23:52living.
- 1:23:52>> Right. Psalm 2022, they have pierced my
- 1:23:55hands and my feet.
- 1:23:56>> They cast lots over my garments.
- 1:23:58>> The zabors, the Psalms,
- 1:23:59>> they believe in that.
- 1:24:00>> Yep. The Torah that the seed of the
- 1:24:03woman will crush the head of the serpent
- 1:24:05while being bruised. Uh Zechariah 12:10
- 1:24:09that they will look on me whom they
- 1:24:11pierced
- 1:24:13>> and they will mourn as one mourns over a
- 1:24:16loss of a firstborn child. Zechariah,
- 1:24:18>> they believe in all these.
- 1:24:19>> They believe in these scriptures
- 1:24:20supposedly.
- 1:24:21>> Yeah. So when you look at not just the
- 1:24:24historical side of things, but you look
- 1:24:26at the prophetic side of things,
- 1:24:28>> prophecy and history is on the side of
- 1:24:30the crucifixion,
- 1:24:31>> right?
- 1:24:32>> You're on the wrong side and what came
- 1:24:33after.
- 1:24:34>> That's interesting. What was said
- 1:24:36>> that was going to happen and then how
- 1:24:39people reacted and responded and
- 1:24:40reported after it happened.
- 1:24:42>> It all points to this point in time
- 1:24:45right here. And they have to deny all
- 1:24:47>> they have to deny all of it. And so
- 1:24:49Jesus says in Luke 24 46 he says and 44
- 1:24:53to 46 is this is what I said to you
- 1:24:55while I was still with you that the
- 1:24:57Christ should suffer and on the third
- 1:25:00day rise from the dead.
- 1:25:04That's what Jesus said. He says this why
- 1:25:05I said this is what was written about me
- 1:25:07and the psalms and the law and the
- 1:25:10prophets and it must be fulfilled.
- 1:25:12That's what he said. Jesus wraps it all
- 1:25:15up and says here I am. It happened. I
- 1:25:18told y'all. They told y'all.
- 1:25:20>> Yep.
- 1:25:21>> What are we doing?
- 1:25:23>> So, I asked the Muslim, "Whose side you
- 1:25:25want to be on? Are you going to be with
- 1:25:27all the prophets who are saying the same
- 1:25:28thing? History that's saying the same
- 1:25:30thing, or are you going to go with the
- 1:25:32so-called prophet who goes against all
- 1:25:34the prophets and goes against history?
- 1:25:37Who are you going to choose?"
- 1:25:43>> All right, so let's let's let's kind of
- 1:25:44wrap this up a little bit. Um guys, as
- 1:25:47you can see there there's there's so
- 1:25:49much more we could we could go. We could
- 1:25:52be here for another two or three hours
- 1:25:54>> just breaking this stuff down.
- 1:25:56>> Let's let's now move towards um the
- 1:26:00practical side of having conversations,
- 1:26:02right?
- 1:26:03>> Um so
- 1:26:04>> what would be maybe an easy way to
- 1:26:07naturally start a conversation with your
- 1:26:12Muslim friend, your Muslim student? uh
- 1:26:15that you're studying with at school if
- 1:26:17you're a college student or your
- 1:26:19neighbor who lives next to you, all just
- 1:26:22people. What would be an easy end to
- 1:26:25kind of start that conversation? Then
- 1:26:27we'll get into some things that you
- 1:26:28shouldn't say and things to look out
- 1:26:30for, but what would be an easy way to
- 1:26:32get going?
- 1:26:32>> Yeah, I got this question. It's a
- 1:26:34conversation starter. I got her from a
- 1:26:36sister named El Iso and she does
- 1:26:38evangelism with her husband um uh to
- 1:26:41Muslims and she I thought it was genius.
- 1:26:45We we went to the mosque and she would
- 1:26:48go up to the Muslims and she got more
- 1:26:50conversations than anybody any of us
- 1:26:52there and she would go up to the Muslims
- 1:26:54and ask what do you believe about the
- 1:26:56prophets
- 1:26:58and it would start the whole
- 1:26:59conversation and she'll get long
- 1:27:01conversations very successful very
- 1:27:02effective because they pride themselves
- 1:27:05on believing in the prophets and the
- 1:27:08same God that the prophets preached
- 1:27:09about and that Muhammad is the last
- 1:27:10messenger. So that start that that's a
- 1:27:14conversation starter that will lead you
- 1:27:16all different kinds of ways and you can
- 1:27:19guide that conversation which whatever
- 1:27:21strand you want to go with but start it
- 1:27:23off with what do you believe about the
- 1:27:26prophets. Okay. Um and that'll show you
- 1:27:29one that you're genuinely interested in
- 1:27:32what they have to say and what they
- 1:27:34believe and conversing with that person
- 1:27:38with where they are. you know, cuz
- 1:27:40that'll kind of show you what they know,
- 1:27:42what they don't know, how they discuss,
- 1:27:44what is important to them.
- 1:27:46>> And so then that's in a that's a way you
- 1:27:48can communicate with that particular
- 1:27:49person
- 1:27:50>> because you're trying to establish
- 1:27:51common ground. Okay. Exactly.
- 1:27:52>> I say I believe in the prophets.
- 1:27:53Exactly.
- 1:27:54>> You say you believe in the prophets.
- 1:27:55What what do you believe about the
- 1:27:57prophets? Then you can kind of see y
- 1:27:59>> and then of course you could say, well,
- 1:28:02you know, do do you believe that the
- 1:28:03prophets, you know, prophesied that
- 1:28:05there would be, you know, a messiah?
- 1:28:08>> Mhm.
- 1:28:08>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:28:09>> Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:28:10>> What do you believe?
- 1:28:12>> What did you believe the prophet said
- 1:28:13about what was going to happen to the
- 1:28:14Messiah?
- 1:28:15>> Mhm.
- 1:28:16>> Oh, well, but you don't believe he was
- 1:28:18crucified. You know,
- 1:28:20>> it leads all into that. Absolutely. And
- 1:28:22so you can um like if you're if you're
- 1:28:26like you said a random person, store,
- 1:28:29friend, neighborhood, coworker, you can
- 1:28:31you can start off by saying, "Hey, I've
- 1:28:33you know been seeing some some videos
- 1:28:36about about Islam lately and it got me
- 1:28:39curious. I just wanted to ask you like
- 1:28:41you're a Muslim, right? What is it that
- 1:28:43you guys believe about the prophets?"
- 1:28:44>> You know, you can come like that and
- 1:28:46genuine and uh the and let the Lord lead
- 1:28:50that conversation.
- 1:28:54We know how to start, but what are some
- 1:28:56non nos?
- 1:28:58Absolutely. This might shut the
- 1:29:00conversation down. You might lose them
- 1:29:02early on. What are some things that we
- 1:29:04Christians need to be very careful about
- 1:29:07leading with or saying? Is there
- 1:29:10anything that we could just
- 1:29:11>> The bi the Bible says to be as gentle as
- 1:29:14a dove, as wise as a serpent. when
- 1:29:16you're giving a defense for your faith
- 1:29:17and your belief, you do it in gentleness
- 1:29:19and kindness and love and respect. So,
- 1:29:21you don't want to offend the person,
- 1:29:23right? Um, now truth offends
- 1:29:24automatically. However, you don't want
- 1:29:26to be overly offensive. You don't want
- 1:29:27to be abrasive. You don't want to be
- 1:29:29that person. So, don't come off talking
- 1:29:32about, hey, why did Muhammad marry a
- 1:29:34child? You know, don't do that. Like,
- 1:29:37um, don't don't come out, hey, you know,
- 1:29:40uh, you know, does your husband beat
- 1:29:41you? You know, uh, do you beat your wife
- 1:29:43at home as a Muslim? like don't don't
- 1:29:45come out doing that, you know. Ask
- 1:29:47questions, you know. Hey, I I I've seen
- 1:29:50this hadith about um Muhammad and his
- 1:29:54and his and his wife Aisha that that she
- 1:29:56was six years old when they got married
- 1:29:58and nine when they consummated. What
- 1:29:59What do you think about that? Is that is
- 1:30:01that a common belief in Islam or how do
- 1:30:03you feel about that? You know, that's
- 1:30:05how you approach that.
- 1:30:06>> You know, don't come badgering them with
- 1:30:07it.
- 1:30:08>> Um if that's what you want to talk
- 1:30:10about. So come respectfully. Come in
- 1:30:12love. Come in genuine love. Like you're
- 1:30:15not an enemy of the person. This person
- 1:30:17has been deceived. They've been duped.
- 1:30:19They need the gospel. Give it to them.
- 1:30:21Present it to them. Start the
- 1:30:23conversation.
- 1:30:28Perfect way to end this video. The
- 1:30:29gospel.
- 1:30:30>> Yeah.
- 1:30:31>> So, um, let's say there's somebody
- 1:30:34watching this and you're on your live
- 1:30:36stream. Um, you've done this a million
- 1:30:39times.
- 1:30:40uh someone is a is a is a is an is a
- 1:30:43Muslim, they follow Islam and you want
- 1:30:46to share the gospel with them.
- 1:30:48>> Yeah.
- 1:30:48>> How do you share the gospel with
- 1:30:52specifically with a a Muslim? What are
- 1:30:54what are some ways
- 1:30:56>> that you focus on pinpoint that would
- 1:30:59hopefully drive home
- 1:31:01>> Yeah.
- 1:31:01>> the point a little bit for them?
- 1:31:03>> Yeah. what I mentioned earlier. So I
- 1:31:05would establish with the Muslim that's
- 1:31:07listening that you believe in the
- 1:31:10revelations of Allah. You you believe in
- 1:31:13the Torah. You believe in the gospel,
- 1:31:15the Psalms, and you believe that they
- 1:31:17all had one message. We do too. And when
- 1:31:21we go and look into these scriptures, we
- 1:31:23can see a consistent thread of what that
- 1:31:26message is. And that is that God is
- 1:31:29going to reconcile mankind to himself.
- 1:31:32that we are sinful and that we need a
- 1:31:34savior. We need a redeemer. And it's
- 1:31:37nothing that we can do, no amount of
- 1:31:39sacrifices, no amount of prayer times,
- 1:31:42no amount of temple service that can
- 1:31:44make us right with God. God says that
- 1:31:46our works are filthy rags to him. He
- 1:31:49says that he desires for us to have a
- 1:31:52contrite spirit, a circumcised heart,
- 1:31:55and he says that he himself is going to
- 1:31:56renew us and put his law within our
- 1:31:59hearts. How is that going to happen?
- 1:32:02This happens when he comes in the flesh.
- 1:32:05The Bible says, "For unto us a son is
- 1:32:07born. Unto us a child is given. And the
- 1:32:10government shall be upon his shoulder
- 1:32:12and his name shall be called wonderful
- 1:32:14counselor, the mighty God, the
- 1:32:16everlasting father, prince of peace."
- 1:32:19The scripture says that God is going to
- 1:32:21come in the flesh. It says that the
- 1:32:23behold the virgin shall conceive and
- 1:32:25bear a son and shall call his name
- 1:32:27Emmanuel, which means God with us. God
- 1:32:30is coming. He's coming. That's what he
- 1:32:33says. He's not not nobody else. He say
- 1:32:34he says he looked all over the place and
- 1:32:36there was no one that can bring the
- 1:32:38salvation. So he says, "I my right hand
- 1:32:41will do it. My own hand will do it. I
- 1:32:43will do it. I will atone for their
- 1:32:45sins." That's in Ezekiel. So God tells
- 1:32:48us that he's going to be the one who
- 1:32:49comes and redeems mankind and reconciles
- 1:32:52us back to himself. And we see that in
- 1:32:55the person of Christ. He came, he
- 1:32:58conquered, he conquered the law, he
- 1:33:00conquered sin, he conquered death. And
- 1:33:02it's only in him. When we read what the
- 1:33:05prophet said, we read the inel, we read
- 1:33:08the Torah, we read the Psalms, we see
- 1:33:10that the son of God came in the flesh,
- 1:33:14died for our sins, rose again in power.
- 1:33:17Cuz he says, "No one can take my life
- 1:33:19from me." He says, "I lay it down in my
- 1:33:21own accord. I have the authority to lay
- 1:33:23it down. I have the authority to pick it
- 1:33:24back up again. this charge I received
- 1:33:26from my father. So he has power over
- 1:33:28life and death. He gave his life so that
- 1:33:30we can live and it's only in him that we
- 1:33:33have life.
- 1:33:38>> We've shared the gospel with them.
- 1:33:42Um what can we A lot of times as
- 1:33:45Christians we make the um mistake of
- 1:33:48hoping that we'll get a quick conversion
- 1:33:51you know like we do in church and always
- 1:33:53give a altar call and people come down
- 1:33:55>> for us we can do that and it costs us
- 1:33:58nothing
- 1:33:59>> as as Christians we need to understand
- 1:34:02that for them it it costs them something
- 1:34:07in their community in their faith if
- 1:34:10they turn away from Islam and become a
- 1:34:12Christian. What does that cost them? And
- 1:34:15the reason I'm asking is because it's
- 1:34:16helpful for us to understand that so
- 1:34:18that we don't expect some quick you've
- 1:34:21shared all the facts, laid out
- 1:34:22everything.
- 1:34:23>> They have a lot more to consider
- 1:34:26changing their faith and becoming a
- 1:34:28Christian than
- 1:34:30>> let's say your neighbor who's just
- 1:34:32>> grew up in America. Oh yeah, I think I
- 1:34:35need do need to be saved.
- 1:34:36>> Yeah.
- 1:34:36>> What what does it cost them?
- 1:34:38>> Everything.
- 1:34:38>> Everything.
- 1:34:39>> For them, everything. They lose
- 1:34:41everything. Community cut out. Mom and
- 1:34:45dad might do an honor killing. Um, wife
- 1:34:50might be stoned. Husband cut off, might
- 1:34:53be beheaded, divorced, everything. Lose
- 1:34:56your children. You know, you have
- 1:34:58husbands that have threatened their
- 1:35:00wives uh with never seeing their
- 1:35:03children, taking their children if they
- 1:35:05convert to Christianity, being kicked
- 1:35:07out of the house, and vice versa. Um
- 1:35:10it's it's for them it's everything
- 1:35:12everything that they've known is a lie
- 1:35:15and they're and they imagine waking up
- 1:35:17to that. Imagine coming to grips with yo
- 1:35:21I've had my kids grow up in this prayer.
- 1:35:23They're going to think that their dad is
- 1:35:24a caffer, a disbeliever. Uh their dad is
- 1:35:28a polytheist now and that Allah I won't
- 1:35:30forgive their dad
- 1:35:31>> or their mom. They're going to be
- 1:35:33ashamed of me in the community. Um,
- 1:35:36>> you know, they're going to want me dead,
- 1:35:39everything.
- 1:35:41So, it's heavy. What what has happened
- 1:35:46with the anti-gosspel
- 1:35:48is, and you'll see it in a lot of these
- 1:35:50communities, it's the threat of death
- 1:35:52and loss of community. And that's huge.
- 1:35:55So, people would rather hold on to these
- 1:35:57things and and and not risk losing that
- 1:36:00for something else, right? It's
- 1:36:03powerful. So it's a powerful hold. And
- 1:36:05that's why that's why Jesus talks about
- 1:36:08this man. He says, "The mother will be
- 1:36:10against daughter,
- 1:36:11>> father against son, brother against
- 1:36:13brother, friend against friend
- 1:36:15>> for my name's sake."
- 1:36:16>> Wow.
- 1:36:16>> And he says, "Whoever loses his life for
- 1:36:19my sake will gain it."
- 1:36:20>> Whatever whoever saves his life, who
- 1:36:22keeps his life, they will lose it.
- 1:36:25That's what Jesus says. And so Jesus
- 1:36:28promises. He says, "Man, do not fear.
- 1:36:30The one who can kill the body but not
- 1:36:32the soul. who can hurt you physically
- 1:36:34but not hurt you spiritually. Fear the
- 1:36:37one that can kill the body and the soul
- 1:36:39and throw it into hell.
- 1:36:41>> It's your eternity that matters that's
- 1:36:43most important. Where we spend the next
- 1:36:45life. Where am I going to be? Am I going
- 1:36:47to be with the Lord with the true God or
- 1:36:49I'm am I going to be in the hellfire
- 1:36:52suffering and in torment separated from
- 1:36:54God? I don't want to be separated from
- 1:36:56God. They don't want to be separated
- 1:36:58from God. So it's everything. So we have
- 1:37:02to have that in mind. But Christ gives
- 1:37:04the answer. He says man whoever does the
- 1:37:07will of my father that is my mother and
- 1:37:09that is my brother that is my sister.
- 1:37:12>> You gain you that to them carnally they
- 1:37:15feel like they lose everything. But they
- 1:37:17don't lose nothing. Christ gives you
- 1:37:19everything.
- 1:37:20>> Christ gives you family by the billions.
- 1:37:24You get family, you get community, you
- 1:37:27get life.
- 1:37:29Even if you lose it, you get life.
- 1:37:31>> He says, "Those in me, though they die,
- 1:37:33will live.
- 1:37:35>> You'll never thirst again. You'll never
- 1:37:37hunger again. In Christ, you're
- 1:37:39fulfilled. You can lose everything
- 1:37:42worldly
- 1:37:44and have everything at the same time."
- 1:37:47That's what Christ offers. So, it's
- 1:37:50important that we have that perspective
- 1:37:52of talking to Muslims and we present
- 1:37:54them Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
- 1:38:00Brother, that's a that's a sobering way
- 1:38:03to end our time together, man. Brother,
- 1:38:06you are a wealth of not just wisdom and
- 1:38:09knowledge, but um God's hand is on you,
- 1:38:11brother. Man, I'm telling you, God I I
- 1:38:14it's
- 1:38:15>> it's been such a pleasure to share these
- 1:38:17last couple days with you, these videos,
- 1:38:20man. And
- 1:38:21>> we're going to do more.
- 1:38:22>> Yes, sir.
- 1:38:22>> We're going to do we're going to do
- 1:38:23more. There's so much more in you that
- 1:38:26God has placed that I think will help
- 1:38:28not only me. I've learned so much.
- 1:38:30Praise God.
- 1:38:31>> But also for our our community on the
- 1:38:33beat. And so um uh like we did in the
- 1:38:37Hebrew Israelite video, tell them where
- 1:38:39they can find you. I mean, I'm shocked
- 1:38:41that if people are [laughter] watching
- 1:38:42the beat that they're not also, uh
- 1:38:45connected to um you know, your your
- 1:38:47channel and your ministry, but how can
- 1:38:49they support you and and just and I say
- 1:38:51support
- 1:38:53>> [laughter]
- 1:38:53>> Okay. Yes. He won't say it, but I'm
- 1:38:56going to say it. Y'all look, we we we
- 1:38:59um exist and survive off of the generous
- 1:39:03uh support from people like you, whether
- 1:39:06it's donations, whether it's Patreon,
- 1:39:08whether it's whatever it is. Um this is
- 1:39:11how we make a living. This is how we
- 1:39:13take care of our families. So, how can
- 1:39:15they how can they support what you're

- 1:39:33That's the best way to support. That's
- 1:39:34how we get to go to London, do things in
