  1. 0:00Gloria Gomez was a local reporter for
  2. 0:02KOVR TV in Sacramento
  3. 0:04she says she spent two-and-a-half years
  4. 0:07on this story and she was one of the
  5. 0:10first reporters to interview Scott in
  6. 0:12his home here's an excerpt of her
  7. 0:15interview with Scott in 2003 are you in
  8. 0:19any way connected to Lacey's
  9. 0:21disappearance nothing to do with Lacey's
  10. 0:23disappearance and again even if people
  11. 0:28out there question that if they would
  12. 0:31just look at their hearts and make the
  13. 0:35effort to bring her home to her family I
  14. 0:37don't care what you think of me I don't
  15. 0:39care what people think of me you know as
  16. 0:42I've said question of my moral character
  17. 0:44if you want to but look at your heart
  18. 0:47think of Lacey her picture baby and make
  19. 0:52the effort to bring her home and that's
  20. 0:53that's a simple reality that's a simple
  21. 0:57thing we need to do just you know think
  22. 0:59whatever you want to me as long as
  23. 1:01you're out there and you're comfortable
  24. 1:03yourself that you're doing what you need
  25. 1:05to be doing to finally humor your own
  26. 1:09well Gloria is joining us on satellite
  27. 1:12from Fox WTVT
  28. 1:14in Tampa so since one of the first
  29. 1:16reporters on the scene what was your
  30. 1:19first impression of Scott and why my
  31. 1:21first impression of Scott was that he
  32. 1:23was very disconnected I know that at one
  33. 1:26point he he did approach me and I asked
  34. 1:30him for an interview he seemed very
  35. 1:33disconnected didn't want to really talk
  36. 1:35to the media you could tell he was very
  37. 1:37distant well anything stand out about
  38. 1:40your interview once you did sit down
  39. 1:42with Scott and talk to him in his home I
  40. 1:44know that he was very particular about
  41. 1:47me taking off my shoes when I first
  42. 1:49approached the house so that was odd
  43. 1:51that I had to take off my shoes and and
  44. 1:53that would be my first interview really
  45. 1:55without shoes on so that the whole time
  46. 1:57when I did interview him I felt like he
  47. 1:59was very scripted there was no emotion
  48. 2:01well having spent two-and-a-half years
  49. 2:04on this case do you believe that Scott
  50. 2:06murdered Lacey I think the jury got it
  51. 2:09right did you make up your mind because
  52. 2:12he behaved like a guilty per
  53. 2:14rather than a piece of evidence or a
  54. 2:17cluster of evidence that proved that he
  55. 2:20was guilty now even when I approached
  56. 2:23him and said hey it's really important
  57. 2:25for you to reach out to the public let
  58. 2:28them know the anguish the pain you're
  59. 2:30feeling he just didn't seem to see that
  60. 2:33that that was important for the public
  61. 2:35to see that and then as you know the
  62. 2:38days went on and we started you know
  63. 2:40revealing more and more facts about the
  64. 2:42case you know the fact that he had a
  65. 2:44boat that he didn't tell Lacey about the
  66. 2:46fact that you know there were Lacey's
  67. 2:49hair was found on the pliers in his boat
  68. 2:51the fact that he had gone fishing on
  69. 2:53Christmas Eve all of those things were
  70. 2:55sketchy from the beginning and of course
  71. 2:57it's not my opinion on whether or not
  72. 3:00he's guilty or not it's the jury's
  73. 3:01opinion but the whole point is we as
  74. 3:04journalists have to pursue the truth and
  75. 3:06that's exactly what we were doing to the
  76. 3:07fact that he was looking more and more
  77. 3:09guilty was just the evidence that was
  78. 3:11coming out we had nothing to do with it
  79. 3:13other than showing the public exactly
  80. 3:15what was going on in this case there
  81. 3:17were some things there that were said
  82. 3:19that you say it's not true like for
  83. 3:21example that she didn't know about the
  84. 3:23boat you say that's not true she did
  85. 3:25know about the boat and you say that she
  86. 3:27knows about the boat because you say
  87. 3:29that she had been seen at the warehouse
  88. 3:30where the boat was correct
  89. 3:32Sharon Rocha would disagree with that
  90. 3:34that's Lacey's mother as a matter of
  91. 3:35fact I spoke to Sharon Rocha I had a
  92. 3:37one-on-one interview with her and she
  93. 3:39said no Lacey did not know about the
  94. 3:41boat because she would have told her
  95. 3:43about that boat well then there would
  96. 3:44have been no reason for detective bro
  97. 3:46Keaney to withhold that from his report
  98. 3:48when he found it out you know but those
  99. 3:51are eyewitnesses that say Lacey knew
  100. 3:53about the boat that's cooperating that
  101. 3:55Scott said she knew about the boat Scott
  102. 3:57is on death row with nobody explaining
  103. 3:59when or how he carried out this crime
  104. 4:01here and he's on death row because he
  105. 4:04asked Gloria Gomez to take her shoes off
  106. 4:06but at the end of the day that body was
  107. 4:10discovered where Scott Peterson went
  108. 4:13fishing that you cannot deny
