  1. 0:00Hi, since you're filling out the TKS
  2. 0:01application as an alumna of the program,
  3. 0:03I figured I'd give some advice. So,
  4. 0:04first a quick intro. My name is Nina.
  5. 0:07I'm a TKS alumna from the years of 2018
  6. 0:09[music] to 19 and 19 to 20. During my
  7. 0:11time at TKS, I learned about and did
  8. 0:13projects in many different areas,
  9. 0:14including longevity, AI, BCIs, and more.
  10. 0:17Ultimately, I ended up working on a
  11. 0:18startup uh combating neureneration.
  12. 0:21Since my time at TKS, I finished high
  13. 0:23school [music] and went off to
  14. 0:24university at Harvard where I'm now a
  15. 0:26junior studying computational
  16. 0:27neuroscience. I also focused on my work
  17. 0:29in dementia. [music] So, I've been
  18. 0:30working at various health tech startups
  19. 0:32and also um doing research. Um right now
  20. 0:35my research is on combating [music]
  21. 0:36co uh cognitive decline and Alzheimer's.
  22. 0:38I think when I first applied to TKS I
  23. 0:41felt a little bit worried that I didn't
  24. 0:42have enough awards, accomplishments,
  25. 0:44accolades [music] to sort of be um to
  26. 0:46get in and to kind of feel happy in that
  27. 0:48community. But I think when I joined I
  28. 0:51realized, you know, people are so kind
  29. 0:53and supportive of each other and it's
  30. 0:54really just a community focused on
  31. 0:56learning and growing together [music] as
  32. 0:57opposed to like playing status games,
  33. 0:59competing, etc. And I thought that was
  34. 1:01such like such an amazing [music]
  35. 1:02environment to be in. And I think my
  36. 1:04advice for you when applying is kind of
  37. 1:05in line with that. But since TS is
  38. 1:07looking for these authentic people who
  39. 1:09want to take initiative and learn, grow,
  40. 1:10and make the world a better place, like
  41. 1:13I think the most important thing to
  42. 1:14convey in your application is enthusiasm
  43. 1:16and motivation. Like the fact that
  44. 1:18you're even thinking of applying here to
  45. 1:20me signals that you have a lot of
  46. 1:22motivation and enthusiasm [music] and
  47. 1:24and you're going to do big things with
  48. 1:25your life and because of that I just
  49. 1:27think you should communicate that energy
  50. 1:28and excitement in your application. So,
  51. 1:30you know, let it seep through in your
  52. 1:31essays and the work you do, etc.
  53. 1:33Anyways, good luck at applying. You've
  54. 1:35got this and thank you.
