0:00it is officially wedding season and I
0:02know how hard it is to find wedding
0:04guest outfits so I have rounded up a few
0:07of my favorite places to shop and I've
0:09also included a couple of new brands
0:11that I found recently as well and I also
0:14want to talk about just a few General
0:17wedding guest dos and don'ts as well
0:19hopefully this can give you some
0:21inspiration or even just a place to
0:22start because I know how overwhelming it
0:25is out there I also want to mention that
0:28I have started a newsletter on substack
0:31I'm very excited about this because it's
0:32been on my to-do list for about 2 years
0:35but I finally started a newsletter and
0:37my first post is kind of like a sister
0:40post to this video where I have picked
0:43out my personal favorite wedding guest
0:47looks and I've categorized them into
0:49things such as like black tie or
0:53cocktail or dresses that can be dressed
0:57down like can be worn casually on
1:00holiday so I've really tried to pick out
1:03some categories that I think would be
1:05useful for you it's just another way for
1:08me to hopefully give you some
1:09inspiration and just sort of cut through
1:11the noise of everything that's out there
1:14on the internet speaking of substack if
1:17you don't know what it is it's kind of
1:19like a Blog SL newsletter hybrid sort of
1:22platform so when you subscribe to my
1:25newsletter you will of course get them
1:28to your inbox so I highly suggest that

1:38Blog as I write them I'll be sharing
1:40things like style guides and wish lists
1:42I just really want it to be like a trove
1:45of inspiration for you it's another way
1:47for me to talk about fashion and style
1:50related things without having to worry
1:53about the YouTube algorithm it's also
1:55very Community Based you can obviously
1:57comment on the post um there's a chat Fe
1:59feature where you can ask me questions
2:02you can request posts if you want you
2:05can request for me to Deep dive into
2:07anything so yeah it's quite a fun New
2:10platform that I'm really excited well
2:12new for me it's not a new
2:14platform which I'm just really excited
2:17to start doing and yes I would be very
2:20honored if you would

2:27wedding stuff okay so let's talk about
2:30some wedding guest dos and don'ts as
2:33much as I am all for you know expressing
2:37who you are through what you're wearing
2:40and you know personal style I do think a
2:42wedding is the one place or one place
2:47where there are certain rules that you
2:51should follow and I think it's the one
2:54place where there are you know certain
2:57appropriate things that you should
2:59should follow as a wedding guest but of
3:02course like anything these rules don't
3:04have to be followed you know the bride
3:07and groom the best and these rules can
3:10be you know chopped and changed it's
3:11just these are just kind of guidelines
3:13if you will I think if you're ever in
3:15doubt about what to wear or if you're
3:17not ever not sure just ask the bride and
3:20groom you might have a bride that really
3:23doesn't care what you wear you might
3:24have a bride that cares more than you
3:27think they should care
3:30but I just have to say ultimately the
3:32wedding day is not about you the wedding
3:34day is about the bride and groom and so
3:37that should be top of mind can you wear
3:39white to a wedding absolutely not I
3:43would avoid white creams ivories
3:47off-whites just any of those in the
3:51vicinity of white and cream I would
3:54avoid if you have a cream jacket and
3:57that is the only jacket that will go
4:01with your
4:02outfit I do think that it is okay to
4:06wear a cream jacket as long as that's
4:07not like the main part of your jacket
4:11and also I would take it off for photos
4:14that is my opinion obviously depends on
4:17the bride the bride not might not even
4:19want you to wear a cream jacket so maybe
4:21just make sure but if you do I would
4:24definitely take it off for photos can
4:26you wear black to a wedding so I think
4:30yes personally if it was my wedding and
4:33I had a few guests show up in black
4:36outfits I think that's completely fine
4:39most people own black outfits and I
4:43personally don't expect my guests to buy
4:47something new for my wedding however In
4:50some cultures black is strictly a
4:53funeral color it's a negative color and
4:56so wearing black could be seen as a bad
4:59omen on the wedding day but again that
5:01could be a cultural thing so you have to
5:04make sure with the bride and groom
5:05another color that I think you need to
5:08be a bit more weary of is red so in
5:12Chinese culture um the bride normally
5:15wears red and so if you were a guest
5:18wearing red um it would be seen as like
5:21you're trying to upstage the pride which
5:24I don't think you should do please avoid
5:28neon or anything
5:30super super bright I just think that you
5:34will stick out in photos in a bad way no
5:39one loves neon that much that they have
5:41to wear neon on someone else's wedding
5:43day just please choose another color
5:45prints and patterns I think are a yes
5:49depending on what they are so florals
5:53and polka dots I think are a yes they're
5:55very like happy and sweet animal print
5:58like a leopard print or a zebra print or
6:01a cow print um I would say no I just
6:05think that that is not appropriate for a
6:08wedding I think it's very casual I think
6:11it just gives off like the wrong
6:13impression I think stripes and gingham
6:16are a yes but it depends on the type of
6:20wedding it is like if it's a casual
6:22daytime wedding then I think a stripe
6:24and a gingham is yeah is appropriate um
6:28so it really depends on the wedding
6:30itself and also if you wear like a
6:33gingham I think that you have to work
6:36harder with your accessories to make The
6:40Gingham seem more wedding appropriate so
6:43I think you'd have to wear fancier
6:45accessories I think sequins are okay um
6:49if it's more of an evening event with
6:52like an Afterparty and stuff like that
6:55um but also I think it depends on the
6:57dress so because sequins in my mind are
7:02quite sort of juvenile and cute I do
7:06think the silhouette and the color and
7:08the way you accessorize the dress as
7:10well needs to be a little bit more
7:13sophisticated um to kind of offset the
7:15sequins so a lot of wedding guest
7:18dresses can fall under um like a
7:22bridesmaid type of dress and so I think
7:25it's important to
7:26also try and avoid whatever ever color
7:31the Bridesmaids are wearing um because
7:34you don't want to look like an
7:36accidental bridesmaid or you don't want
7:38to look like you were trying to be in
7:40the wedding party when you aren't
7:43because I think that can look um a bit
7:46tacky whether or not it was intentional
7:48I just think it's a bad look so if you
7:51are looking at dresses that do look like
7:54bridesmaid dresses like you know your
7:55typical bridesmaid dresses maybe just
7:57make sure with the wedding party ask
7:59what their wedding colors are just to
8:01make sure I would also just avoid
8:03anything that's like too sexy so
8:06anything that has a really low neckline
8:10like a lot of cleavage super short hem
8:13lines any sheer materials I think
8:16there's a time and a place for these
8:18outfits and a wedding just isn't one of
8:20them whilst you know the bride in the
8:22groom might be fine with it you also
8:24need to consider that their family
8:26members are going to be there so you
8:29know aunties uncles their parents
8:32grandparents maybe even great
8:33grandparents if they're lucky enough and
8:36children kids might be there so I just
8:39think you know just rain it in just for
8:42that one day just I just wouldn't so the
8:45last piece of advice I would like to
8:47leave with you is just about General
8:49occasion wear shopping and it's
8:51something I read a while ago but I
8:53thought it was quite a good piece of
8:55advice and it's something I've done and
8:57it's worked for me it's that when you
8:58see a dress or just a piece of occasion
9:01wear that you really like and like you
9:05genuinely really love it and it looks
9:07great on you um and it can kind of fit
9:10into different scenarios I would just
9:13buy it even if you don't have an event
9:16coming up which sounds
9:18counterintuitive but just stick with me
9:21and this is because often times when we
9:23have like a wedding or an event coming
9:25up we sort of scramble to find something
9:29to wear and we will end up probably
9:32buying something that we don't love
9:34wearing we're just kind of settling for
9:36it because we need it at the time but if
9:38you have a piece that you've bought
9:40because you love and you haven't bought
9:42it under the pressure of oh my gosh I
9:44just need something now then it's more
9:46likely to be a piece that fits within
9:49your personal style um you genuinely
9:53enjoy wearing it and it makes you feel
9:55really good and it's more likely to be a
9:58piece that you're going to keep and
10:00you're going to wear and rewar over and
10:02over again for different events yeah I
10:04thought that was a pretty good piece of
10:06advice um and I wanted to leave that
10:08with you as well so I have my laptop now
10:11and I will just go through a couple of
10:14brands that I would per I just whacked
10:16the microphone yeah a couple of brands
10:18that I would personally shop from if I
10:21was looking for a wedding guest outfit
10:24which I am so let's start with DNE if
10:28you guys like s an which I know you do
10:30if you're watching my channel you will
10:33love Doan I feel like DNE is kind of
10:35like suzan's older sister in a good way
10:40they make the most gorgeous dresses like
10:42I honestly dream about owning a dough
10:45and dress so you can see that just all
10:49the florals lace silk they really just
10:52do it all however they are quite pricey
10:56so they range from about 300
10:59to about
11:02£600 but honestly these are dresses that
11:05you're going to want to wear more than
11:06once and I'm you know a big advocate of
11:10wearing things more than once and
11:13honestly does anyone really remember
11:15what you wear no they don't like can you
11:20tell me what your friends wore the last
11:22wedding that you all went to together
11:25probably not so I think just yeah think
11:28about it like then accessories and hair
11:31and makeup can change a whole outfit
11:34even if you are wearing the same dress I
11:36would personally rather spend a little
11:38bit more on a dress that I love and I
11:41can't wait to wear and I'm like wanting
11:44there to be events that I can wear it
11:46for you know rather than buying
11:48something that yeah okay it's cheaper
11:51but I just don't love it as much you
11:53know it's yeah so I mean it just really
11:55depends what you priority prioritize as
11:58a person but going back to doen I just
12:00think their designs even though they are
12:03you know florally and
12:05Lacy they also have quite a Timeless
12:08quality about them I really do think you
12:11could whip one of these dresses out in a
12:13few years and still look great they kind
12:15of have like a Timeless vintage quality
12:18like Timeless vintage look um which is
12:21why I think they're so popular and they
12:22also do use expensive materials such as
12:25silk so the price is Justified in a way
12:29next we have sir the label so this is
12:32the first of a few Australian Brands
12:35Australian Brands just do it so well I I
12:37don't know what it is but they do
12:39occasion wear so well I think it's
12:41because they have the weather for it
12:43that's what I'm putting it down to but
12:45they are another kind of minimal sort of
12:47brand and just another great brand to
12:49browse really I think they have some
12:51really beautiful dresses their selection
12:54is great for pieces that are both
12:56wedding appropriate but also can be worn
13:00on holiday so yeah also with all the
13:03Australian Brands I'm going to mention
13:05because there are quite a few like I
13:06said um some of them are also stocked on
13:10bigger websites such as like revolve or
13:14selfes so if shipping from Australia
13:18from these Brands directly is a little
13:20bit difficult for you look on bigger
13:23retailer websites such as yeah selfes
13:27revolve um I think s the label is on my
13:29Teresa as well have a look on those
13:31websites where the shipping is more
13:34International next we have by Molina
13:38which is a Swedish brand they've got a
13:40really big range of colors and prints
13:43and Silhouettes I also noticed that they
13:47use a lot of recycled polyester and
13:50lenig ecoo so um Eco Vero is viscous but
13:57lensing is the brand that manufactures
14:02Visos which they call Eco Vero in a more
14:05sustainable way so it uses like less
14:08water and chemicals than like the
14:10traditional manufacturing of Visos I
14:14will leave a link in the description box
14:16where you can read more about um lensing
14:19eov ver cuz I think it's quite
14:20interesting if sustainability is
14:22something that is important to you then
14:25by Molina could be a good brand to shop
14:27from next of of course I couldn't do an
14:30occasion wear video without talking
14:31about reformation I know original
14:35suggestion but I mean I they just have a
14:38huge selection of occasion wear and they
14:41also have a petite section which I
14:43personally um you know I value and they
14:46do offer natural fibers such as silk
14:51however I have heard that the quality of
14:54reformation has gone down so proceed
14:59with caution but I just I do love their
15:02designs they really do make some great
15:04wedding guest options oh but Reformation
15:08are also very big on the resale Market
15:11potentially you can browse the website
15:13maybe even go into a Reformation store
15:15and try some things on you might be able
15:17to find someone selling it on Vintage
15:19because honestly Reformation is huge on
15:23the secondhand Market or you could buy
15:26something new and then resell
15:29so there's that option as well cuz I
15:32found that Reformation stuff gets sold
15:34really quickly on Vintage at least the
15:36stuff that I have saved on Vinted that
15:38is Reformation it always gets sold
15:41really fast so yeah that could be
15:45something to think about as well next we
15:47have Kit Tre which is a brand um that's
15:50new to me I think it's a British brand
15:54they are very bright very floral very
15:57wedding
15:59and as you guys know I don't wear that
16:01many bright colors even right now I'm
16:04like pale white and gray trousers but
16:07I'm actually really drawn to a lot of
16:09their pieces not just their wedding
16:11guest outfits but they've got a lot of
16:13really nice jackets and things like that
16:15as well and again I do think quite a
16:17fair few of these pieces could also be
16:19worn on holiday yeah I think that's
16:22quite they're quite a nice New Brand
16:25Discovery for me uh next we have suzan
16:28of course I can't forget about suzan on
16:30this channel I personally haven't bought
16:32any occasion wear pieces from suzan um
16:35all of my pieces from there are very
16:38sort of everyday wear um pieces but as I
16:42was browsing through their occasion wear
16:44it looks like as well as dresses they
16:47have a lot of co-ords so a lot of like
16:49skirts and matching tops or trousers and
16:53matching tops or jackets and I do think
16:56that if you are looking
16:59for if you don't want to buy like a
17:01strictly wedding guest only outfit a
17:05co-ord is like a great place to start no
17:10that's not what I'm trying to say a
17:11co-ord is a great option um because you
17:14can get a lot more wear out of these
17:16pieces you can style the trousers with a
17:18different top and it doesn't have to be
17:19worn to a wedding you know you can wear
17:22the top with a different skirt you know
17:24things like that you've got you get a
17:25lot more versatility um when it comes to
17:29buying a co-ord there's just a lot more
17:32styling options that you have I also
17:34think that suzan are really good at like
17:37more fun shoes and accessories if again
17:41you do want to wear something a bit more
17:43plain but dress it up with the
17:46accessories um then yeah suzan also have
17:49really good options for that so next I
17:54have Beck and Bridge um this is an
17:57Australian brand brand and if you like
18:00that really silky Slinky look um then
18:06this is definitely the brand to go for
18:08they are they're a brand that um is very
18:11like typical bridesmaid dress brand
18:14because a lot of their staple Styles
18:16they do in loads of different colors and
18:18they just do like silky maxi dresses
18:21really well just like in lots of
18:23different sort of cuts so if you like
18:26that sort of look then yeah Beck and
18:28Bridge is definitely a brand to check
18:30out um actually as we're on the topic of
18:32Australian Brands I'll just give you
18:34I'll just give you the the next two
18:36Australian ones so this is another brand
18:39that's new to me it's called Arina Ori
18:43they have some really unique dresses now
18:47going back to my wedding guest dos and
18:49don'ts about like don't be too sexy I do
18:52think some of these dresses are probably
18:54not wedding appropriate but I just
18:56wanted to get this brand on your in case
19:00um you have something that this any of
19:04these dresses would work well for
19:05because I really like their designs
19:07there's just something a little bit
19:09different and they also have this
19:12incredible yellow dress that resembles
19:16that Andy Anderson dress from house leer
19:20Guy in 10 Days which is the dress that
19:22everyone wants and everyone wants to
19:24wear oh it's sold out that's annoying so
19:27um
19:29yeah maybe it will come back in stock so
19:31the last Australian brand is sha joy and
19:35I have actually bought from here before
19:37when I lived in Australia I've bought
19:40this dress which I'll put on screen it's
19:42like a teal dark green which I wore to a
19:45wedding and then the dress that you guys
19:49always see in my profile picture and at
19:52the end of my videos in my end screen is
19:54also showna Joy it's like white that has
19:57crisscross back yeah they have really
19:59beautiful dresses I really wish I took
20:02more advantage of shopping from Sha Joy
20:04when I lived in Australia but I just
20:07didn't have that many events to go to
20:08they've got a lot of like printed and
20:11plain pieces and I just think the
20:12Silhouettes of their pieces are really
20:14nice so yeah check check them out check
20:17them out they also I think they're
20:18stocked on revolve so yeah have a look
20:22so next we have rxo which I believe is
20:26another UK brand they do a lot of
20:30printed like florally fun dresses
20:34they're not your typical wedding guest
20:38dress which I really like you know you
20:40just want something a bit more fun um
20:43and I definitely think ricko would be
20:45the place that I would shop from if I
20:47wanted something a bit different I
20:49really like the chain belts that they
20:51put around quite a few of their dresses
20:53as well it just makes it it's like not
20:55so typical wedding guest you know um and
20:58I like that okay next we have another
21:01brand that is new to me this is I think
21:04I found them on Instagram actually like
21:06I think I got an Instagram
21:08ad and the brand is called Sonia Moda
21:12there's a range of dresses here like
21:13some of them are very very formal and
21:15some of them are more plain and some of
21:20them can be worn also like on holiday so
21:23they really have quite a range but what
21:26I thought I was good is like I thought
21:29the price point for for them was quite
21:32good so they're about
21:33£200 but I think they look a lot more
21:35expensive and I think that's why I saved
21:38this brand so that is another brand to
21:42look at so these last three brands I
21:45wanted to include because they are on a
21:48lower price point than the ones I've
21:50been showing you of course budget is a
21:53huge consideration when it comes to
21:55wedding guest shopping so the first
21:57brand that have is called omnes and they
22:01are a brand that I've actually had on my
22:02radar for quite a long time but I've
22:05never purchased from them they call
22:07themselves a sustainable brand they use
22:10a lot of recycled
22:12polyester um and Eco Vero which we all
22:17know is a material that I greatly enjoy
22:20so that was a nice surprise to see that
22:23and all of their dresses are like under
22:27£100 so they're all about
22:3185 85 80 to 90 very simple in design
22:36which I think is what you would get for
22:38this price point but they all seem to be
22:41like very nice you know wedding
22:43appropriate dresses so if you are
22:47looking for a dress that's under1 I do
22:49think this is quite a good site to
22:52browse they do very just yeah just those
22:54very typical like silky looking dresses
22:57so the next brand on this sort of lower
23:00is price point that I wanted to include
23:03is Ghost which I think is yes it's a UK
23:08brand but they have a range of like 95
23:13to
23:14200 so on the end of the 95 range uh you
23:20do have that kind of plain um silky
23:24dress which I think is typical for that
23:26price point I think for that price you
23:28can't expect lots of design features and
23:31intricate detailing because that's just
23:34not possible at that price but I just
23:37wanted to include them if you were
23:39looking for something that's slightly
23:41cheaper but still nice um because I do
23:44think that their like silky dresses do
23:46look quite good and they also come in
23:49lots of different colors and Prints but
23:52then their prices do increase if you
23:54want like slightly More Design details
23:57um and things like that so I wanted to
24:00include this brand and then lastly I
24:03wanted to include a brand called true
24:06decadence for more like fun dresses that
24:12are still
24:13under200 because they do have some more
24:16intricate designs that sort of remind me
24:19of like self-portrait in a way um the
24:23way they they have like the Ruffles the
24:25lace cutouts but for a much cheaper
24:29price point and obviously for a price
24:31point like this I don't know how well
24:34it's made but if that's something that
24:39you don't mind in an occasion wear piece
24:42like if you know you're only going to
24:43wear it one or one time two times then I
24:47do think their dresses do look nice but
24:49again I can't say how good the quality
24:52is and obviously for this price you
24:54can't expect like real silk or anything
24:57like that budget is a very big
24:59consideration and I didn't want to just
25:01include like really expensive Brands and
25:03I do think the dresses on here are quite
25:05pretty and quite nice one last honorable
25:07mention is The Outnet because I just
25:10don't think The Outnet get enough credit
25:12I've bought some really good stuff on
25:15The Outnet admittedly it's not occasion
25:17wear I haven't shopped for occasion wear
25:18on here but I've bought like shirts from
25:22equipment from here for like half price
25:25jeans I've bought um citizen of Humanity
25:29jeans from here for like under £100 so
25:32if you just take the time to browse it
25:35might be worth your while they even have
25:37a wedding guest section on here where
25:39they have like some designer dresses and
25:42if you filter for maybe like your size
25:45or maybe a color that you want to wear
25:47you might find something that you like
25:49for a really good price so you know like
25:52look this sleeper dress is 40% off and I
25:56would so wear that and then a Marge
26:00dress for 55% off oh gosh I don't know
26:04what this dress is doing here I do not
26:06think that is a wedding guest dress at
26:08all um but I digress so I hope that this
26:12video was helpful at least to give you
26:15like a starting point of where to look
26:17or what to buy
26:19because there's there's a lot out there
