35. 1:49here as for The toppo Pursuit 2 we're
36. 1:52going to be talking about the build or
37. 1:54build quality the Comfort the
38. 1:57performance and the value but first
39. 2:00voice over Chad why don't you tell us
40. 2:02about some of the specs and features of
41. 2:04The Pursuit 2 Topo States you go hard on
42. 2:08the trails with Pursuit 2 you can go
43. 2:10even harder our zero drop cushion Trail
44. 2:12Runner returns with the same fit and
45. 2:15stack height you love now with our
46. 2:16updated zip foam midsole formula for a
47. 2:18softer more responsive and lighter ride
48. 2:21our Vibra meag grip outsole delivers

68. 3:11$145 I should also mention that toppo
69. 3:14did send me the shoe for the purpose of
70. 3:15review but know that all thoughts and
71. 3:17opinions are strictly my own and all the
72. 3:19b-roll footage that you're about to see
73. 3:20in this video was recorded after this
74. 3:22run so you're seeing the shoe in its
75. 3:24current state after about 50 Mi Chad

80. 3:39I've been really impressed with Topo
81. 3:41shoes as of late and certainly the
82. 3:44pursuit too is no exception it's been a
83. 3:47really fun engaging is that word and
84. 3:51comfortable shoe and while it seems to
85. 3:54have on the surface a lot in common with
86. 3:56the toppo Mountain racer 3 and seems to
87. 4:00be a shoe of its own something just a
88. 4:03little bit different and something that
89. 4:05competes really well against all the
90. 4:08other zero drop shoes out there Ultra I
91. 4:11hope you're keeping an eye out on this
92. 4:13as for that build quality it seems that
93. 4:16toppo took all the basics that make a
94. 4:19shoe really good and then amped it up
95. 4:23just a little bit in the pursuit to to
96. 4:25make it a great shoe the upper choice of
97. 4:27materials are Brea feelable durable and
98. 4:31just all around really nice I don't
99. 4:34think you're going to have longevity
100. 4:36issues with that upper you do get some
101. 4:39really nice overlays around the uh toe
102. 4:42cap the toe cap seems to be pretty stout
103. 4:45as well you can see that so I'm pushing
104. 4:48pretty hard and it's not really budging
105. 4:51so I really like the overlays there just
106. 4:53add some really good protection and
107. 4:55around the eyelet chain there seems to
108. 4:57be some really nice reinforce
109. 5:00here I forgot to mention again on the
110. 5:02tongue you do get these little I call
111. 5:04them lace Loops I'm sure if you can see
112. 5:06that right there but there's these
113. 5:07little Loops that the laces feed through
114. 5:09so in addition to the tongue being
115. 5:11gusseted you have those lace Loops that
116. 5:14hold the tongue in place so it doesn't
117. 5:16drift off to the side uh very much at
118. 5:19all so I think that just adds to the I
119. 5:22don't know if that'd be build quality or
120. 5:25uh Comfort that's not just a gimmick but
121. 5:27it's actually functional as well there's
122. 5:29also some really nice structure in the
123. 5:32heel moving on to the midsole you get
124. 5:34that zip foam midsole and what I've seen
125. 5:37in their other shoes and this shoe again
126. 5:39is no exception it's a pretty resilient
127. 5:42midsole and it should last a really long
128. 5:45time and then lastly on that out soole
129. 5:48you have the vium mega grip with those 6
130. 5:51mm lugs you really can't go wrong with
131. 5:53the vibr out soole really good quality
132. 5:56it also should last a long time and I'm
133. 5:58really not seeing much sign of wear even
134. 6:01after 50 mi in the shoe so I feel like
135. 6:05toppo did a really good job on the
136. 6:07overall build quality good choice of
137. 6:10materials and structure overlays that
138. 6:14midsole is really nice the Viber mous so
139. 6:17the individual components are great in
140. 6:19of themselves but they also brought it
141. 6:22all together in a package that just
142. 6:24really really nice so I'm going to give
143. 6:26the build quality a nine out of
144. 6:31[Music]
145. 6:3310 moving on to comfort I'll just come
146. 6:37out and say Comfort is very nice it's a
147. 6:39shoe that I can run all day every day in
148. 6:43and that means a lot it's a zero drop
149. 6:46shoe with 28 mm of Stack which in
150. 6:49today's standards is not a lot but I
151. 6:53have no concerns at all with that and
152. 6:57the underfoot Comfort like I was saying
153. 6:59it just remains comfortable all day you
154. 7:02also get a really nice insole it's kind
155. 7:04of a responsive midsole with little bit
156. 7:06of art support the upper also hugs your
157. 7:10foot comfortably around the midfoot and
158. 7:13certainly around the ankle and heel nice
159. 7:15secure hold but something that doesn't
160. 7:18rub or have any hot spots or redness
161. 7:20never experienced any of that or
162. 7:22blisters nothing like that in the shoe
163. 7:25and then in the toe box you have some
164. 7:26nice room for your toes to spay out
165. 7:29which is is pretty typical for toal
166. 7:31athletic shoes so nice and roomy toe box
167. 7:34but still a secure hold around the rest
168. 7:37of your foot so when the trail starts
169. 7:38getting technical or sideways foot's not
170. 7:42moving around unnecessarily in the shoe
171. 7:44future Trad here forgot to mention on
172. 7:46comfort about the tongue and the laces
173. 7:50the tongue is gusseted right above the
174. 7:52eyet chain and it is nicely slightly
175. 7:56densely not overly plush but nicely
176. 7:59padded the laces never felt them digging
177. 8:02into the top of my foot it's really easy
178. 8:05to get the dialed in fit with those
179. 8:08laces that you need you don't have to
180. 8:10adjust it or change it later in the Run
181. 8:13High remarks on comfort from that
182. 8:16perspective as well moving back down to
183. 8:18the midsole the zip foam feels not quite
184. 8:23as soft in this shoe as it does in their
185. 8:26Mountain racer 3 but it does seem to be
186. 8:28just a little bit more more reactive
187. 8:31very comfortable on the trails and I
188. 8:32also think that the midsole in this shoe
189. 8:34offers a little bit better underfoot
190. 8:36protection against uh protruding rocks
191. 8:39and Roots it does not have a rock plate
192. 8:42but I don't feel that you need one All
193. 8:44In All Comfort has surprised me and I've
194. 8:47found that no matter how long I run in
195. 8:49the shoe my foot remains very
196. 8:52comfortable so I'm going to give Comfort
197. 8:55also a nine out of
198. 8:5810 now now moving on to the performance
199. 9:01of the shoe probably what you want to
200. 9:02know most so as mentioned earlier the
201. 9:05upper is very breathable and that insole
202. 9:08is made of a beaded material designed
203. 9:11not to hold on to or absorb and retain
204. 9:15water so the materials on the shoe are
205. 9:18such that there's not really much that's
206. 9:20going to hold on to water and I think we
207. 9:22need to give it a water test so we're
208. 9:26going to soak our feet
209. 9:29that's a little
210. 9:31cold all right the water is coming up
211. 9:34about halfway over my foot uh definitely
212. 9:37soaking into the
213. 9:39shoe now let's continue on the trail
214. 9:42here and see how it does with water
215. 9:46shedding I got to say I'm really
216. 9:48impressed with waterers shedding the I
217. 9:52could feel the water just kind of
218. 9:54pushing out of the shoe there was some
219. 9:57initial uh squishiness from the water
220. 10:00not even a quarter mile later and the
221. 10:03water is pretty much all but dissipated
222. 10:06completely from the shoe so I think the
223. 10:09only thing that's holding on to the
224. 10:10water now at this point are my socks so
225. 10:12thumbs up for waterers
226. 10:14shedding yeah I wouldn't hesitate to
227. 10:17take this on a river or stream Crossing
228. 10:20no hesitation at all all right coming up
229. 10:23to the top of the ridge
230. 10:26here so that's a beautiful view
231. 10:30beautiful morning for
232. 10:34sure there's the sun again all right
233. 10:38continuing
234. 10:39on moving on with performance let's
235. 10:43start with that outs sold the Vibra Mega
236. 10:45GP outsole with those 6 mm lugs just
237. 10:48doing a phenomenal job really high
238. 10:51performing outsole that just provides
239. 10:55plenty of grip lots of confidence just
240. 10:58digs in into the dirt and the Rocks
241. 11:00allows you to just concentrate on your
242. 11:03running it's just a lot of fun really
243. 11:05liking the out soole and for what it's
244. 11:08worth it's extremely similar if not
245. 11:10actually identical to the Topo Mountain
246. 11:13racer 3 the midsole is also High
247. 11:15performing I feel like it balances
248. 11:18enough good cushioning with an engaging
249. 11:22responsive midsole and there's that word
250. 11:25again engaging I feel engaged with Trail
251. 11:30and my running you do get a little bit
252. 11:32of a rocker shape that helps encourage
253. 11:34and promote a transition into your toes
254. 11:37and while this isn't the shoe that I
255. 11:39would probably choose to use for those
256. 11:42speedier faster runs that midsole will
257. 11:45reward you when you do so now the shoe
258. 11:47comes in just under 300 G in weight and
259. 11:51on the surface that seems a little heavy
260. 11:55but the shoe doesn't feel heavy or
261. 11:58clunky underf foot at all it feels way
262. 12:01more lightweight and Nimble than the
263. 12:05specks lead you to believe which just
264. 12:08adds to the overall performance feeling
265. 12:11in this shoe the upper holds your foot
266. 12:15nicely in place as I mentioned about the
267. 12:18upper and the secure
268. 12:20fit my ankle is held really nicely in
269. 12:24place there's some good padding around
270. 12:26the ankle and the heel and then when the
271. 12:29Trail starts to get quite you know off
272. 12:31camera or more technical where you have
273. 12:35lots of uh ulating ups and downs the
274. 12:39shoe just continues to perform really
275. 12:42well I mean I don't I guess the best way
276. 12:45to describe it is that when I'm running
277. 12:47in The Pursuit 2 I'm not thinking about
278. 12:49the shoe I'm just thinking about my run
279. 12:51so the shoe isn't distracting it doesn't
280. 12:53get in the way just allows you to run
281. 12:56and that says a lot about its
282. 12:58performance last thing that I'll mention
283. 13:00about performance is that I feel very
284. 13:03secure in this shoe my feet feel planted
285. 13:07and uh engaged there's that word again
286. 13:10with the trail but in a very confidence
287. 13:13inspiring type of way the midsole does
288. 13:16flare out just a little bit on around
289. 13:19the uh toe box the medial and lateral
290. 13:21side uh so that helps add a little bit
291. 13:23of stability on Landing but it's not uh
292. 13:28bulky or intrusive uh by any means it's
293. 13:32otherwise a very neutral shoe so keep
294. 13:35that in mind but I've really liked it
295. 13:38and from a performance perspective it
296. 13:40just does what it needs to do so we're
297. 13:42going to give performance a nine out of
298. 13:4510

300. 14:19so now what about value at
301. 14:22$145 us MSRP I think that's a pretty
302. 14:26good buy it also undercuts the
303. 14:29competition Ultra temp 5 by about 10
304. 14:33bucks and I don't feel like you're
305. 14:34missing out on anything even though Topo
306. 14:37did send me this shoe for the purpose of
307. 14:38review I would spend my own money on
308. 14:42this shoe I've really enjoyed it and I
309. 14:45feel like you're getting a quality build
310. 14:47a shoe that's comfortable that you can
311. 14:49run in all day every day and one that
312. 14:54performs really well and does exactly
313. 14:56what you need it to do every time
314. 14:59and while $145 is still a lot to spend I
315. 15:04feel like it's worth it and whether you
316. 15:07choose The Pursuit 2 or topos Mountain
317. 15:10racer 3 which is few bucks more feel
318. 15:13like you're getting a shoe that's going
319. 15:14to lasts a long time and that you can do
320. 15:18all your training and Ultra racing in so
321. 15:22value also gets a nine out of
322. 15:2610 look at this View
323. 15:30yeah just pretty much gorgeous pretty
324. 15:33lucky feel very blessed to uh be able to
325. 15:37be out here have these local Trails just
326. 15:44wonderful so in conclusion if you're
327. 15:47looking for a zero drop daily Trainer
328. 15:50shoe that you can also do some ultra
329. 15:52running in then The Pursuit 2 is
330. 15:55definitely a shoe that I recommend
331. 15:59now inevitably I'm sure I've forgotten
