"Was Your Wife Essential to Your Success?" — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Do you think having your wife in your
- 0:02life has been essential to the massive
- 0:04success you've achieved?
- 0:06Mine changed my life.
- 0:09Oh, that was it. Uh yeah, I think I
- 0:12think I would have been successful
- 0:13financially without Leila because I was
- 0:15successful financially without Leila
- 0:16before. Um I think the degree of success
- 0:19and the speed of the success
- 0:20um I can't play out another life, but
- 0:23Leila absolutely the longer we have been
- 0:25in business together, the more I think
- 0:27the success
- 0:28um
- 0:30Well, I would not have achieved the
- 0:31level of success that we have at this
- 0:33rate.
- 0:34Um for two main for two very I'll give
- 0:36you two very tactical reasons why.
- 0:39Should I give you three? Um
- 0:40number one, Leila's decision-making
- 0:43um
- 0:45paired with my kind of ideation has been
- 0:47the combination that has made everything
- 0:48work. And I think that in a lot of ways
- 0:50she makes more decisions than I do in
- 0:52the business on a daily basis, and some
- 0:54of the decisions that she makes I would
- 0:55not have made, and her decisions were
- 0:57better.
- 0:58And so I would say from number one, she
- 1:00would she has helped me avoid many
- 1:03calamitous mistakes
- 1:05that would have probably set me back
- 1:07many years.
- 1:08Um
- 1:09number two,
- 1:12>> [sighs]
- 1:14>> Leila is exceptional at managing and
- 1:17leading people, and that is probably a
- 1:19larger deficiency for me than it is for
- 1:20her. Um and so we would not have been
- 1:22able to attract the level of talent that
- 1:24was required to pursue the level of
- 1:25opportunity that we're going after today
- 1:27um if it had been just me. I think that
- 1:30because I also don't think I would have
- 1:31had the the level of track record to
- 1:32attract the level of talent either. And
- 1:34so if you look at the company like I'd
- 1:36say the company is by and large more
- 1:37loyal to Leila than they are to me um
- 1:39because Leila's the one who actually
- 1:40like leads
- 1:42like the company from a day-to-day
- 1:43perspective internally.
- 1:45Um
- 1:47I think the third reason, and this is
- 1:48one that will probably surprise a lot of
- 1:49you, is that Leila I think actually has
- 1:52bigger aspirations and the dreams than I
- 1:54do.
- 1:55And I had material goals that I wanted
- 1:58to hit, and I would say that in the
- 1:59short term, I was more motivated to hit
- 2:02those goals than she was.
- 2:03But in the long term, as we've surpassed
- 2:05those goals, like beyond needing money
- 2:08for anything else, her desire to make an
- 2:10impact, and her desire to, more
- 2:13importantly, build an environment that
- 2:14people love to work in,
- 2:16um has been a greater contributor to our
- 2:18continued growth,
- 2:20um and I would say, like, pushing and
- 2:21striving uh to do more. And so, I think
- 2:24those are the three reasons why um I
- 2:26would not have had the level of success
- 2:28that we have had
- 2:29um if I had done it alone, or it would
- 2:31not have happened on this fast of a time
- 2:32table.
- 2:34If you like this video and you're
