- 0:30What is up you guys? Welcome back to my
- 0:31channel. Welcome back to another vlog.
- 0:33Welcome back to what I'm hoping is a
- 0:35tried andrue reading vlog. I feel like
- 0:37in the past two to three reading vlogs
- 0:39that I've uploaded, I've only read like
- 0:42one or two books in those vlogs. So, in
- 0:44this vlog, I really really want to read
- 0:46as much as possible and actually give
- 0:48you guys multiple reviews on multiple
- 0:50books. I'm hoping to read at least three
- 0:52books in this vlog. So, yeah, this is
- 0:54going to be a fun day, a fun vlog. I
- 0:55really, really hope you guys enjoy it.
- 0:57Also, make sure to subscribe if you're
- 0:58not subscribed yet. There are so many
- 1:00fall vlogs coming. I am so excited for
- 1:03this fall season. Okay, first things
- 1:05first, I want to choose what book I
- 1:06start this vlog with. There are so many
- 1:08books I want to read before the summer
- 1:10ends. First book I want to read in this
- 1:11vlog is The Sunday Garden.
- 1:16The next book is actually a book that I
- 1:17started a few days ago. I'm on chapter
- 1:19three currently. I'm really enjoying it
- 1:20so far, but it's called The Shampoo
- 1:22Effect.
- 1:24The next book is The Romance Revival by
- 1:27Christina Lauren.
- 1:29Another book that I really, really want
- 1:31to read, hopefully in this vlog, is
- 1:32Final Girls by Riley Sager.
- 1:36And then last but not least, I'm going
- 1:37to put in a Freedom McFaten book. I
- 1:38haven't read a Freedom McFaten book in
- 1:40so long. So, we're actually going to put
- 1:41in The Divorce by her. Literally, no
- 1:43cheating. I'm going to click it. It's
- 1:45going to spin. And whatever it lands on,
- 1:46that's what I'm going to read. Here we
- 1:48go.
- 1:53And we are going to read
- 1:57The Sunday Garden.

- 3:20>> Today was a really interesting day. It
- 3:22had some good moments and some not so
- 3:24good moments. I don't know if you guys
- 3:25have ever felt this, but I swear I had
- 3:28heat fatigue today. heat fatigue, heat
- 3:30exhaustion, something like that. I don't
- 3:33have AC in my room when I'm filming. I
- 3:35turn off my fans and I close some
- 3:37windows just so the outside noise
- 3:38doesn't affect the audio of the vlog. I
- 3:40don't know if I'm being dramatic or
- 3:41something, but I literally thought I was
- 3:43going to faint. I have a little alarm
- 3:44clock that I got from Amazon and it
- 3:46tells you the temperature of the room
- 3:47and it literally said that my room was
- 3:49102ยฐ.
- 3:51So, that is why I decided to go to the
- 3:53coffee shop. I couldn't even talk to the
- 3:54vlog because I just felt so fatigued.
- 3:58That's literally the worst. But anyways,
- 3:59we turned the day around. I am feeling
- 4:01like a fresh new human now. I feel like
- 4:03I got a new wave of energy and I am
- 4:05ready to continue this vlog. We're
- 4:07putting all this energy to reading. It
- 4:09is currently 11:34. Also, how cute is my
- 4:12wallpaper? I'm going to give myself
- 4:14until 3:00 a.m. If I'm not close to
- 4:15finishing it at 3:00 a.m., we're going
- 4:17to sleep. I also did start this book
- 4:19already. I actually do really like the
- 4:20vibe of it. This is a fantasy romance
- 4:22kind of book. It's a very whimsical kind
- 4:24of story. I'm going to start a little
- 4:26stopwatch and we're going to see how
- 4:27long it takes me to read this book. As
- 4:28I'm reading, I want to listen to some
- 4:29relaxing music. And I always love
- 4:31looking up relaxing playlists on
- 4:34YouTube. [music]
- 4:44[music]
- 4:50>> [music]
- 4:59[music]
- 5:06>> Okay, I'm pausing the timer. We're at an
- 5:07hour and 58 minutes. It's currently 1:46
- 5:11a.m. I did take a little bit of a
- 5:12scrolling break, but I just got to
- 5:14chapter 14, and I'm on page 104. I think
- 5:17I'm going to check in with you guys
- 5:18every 100 pages. I feel like I'm reading
- 5:20painfully slow. I'm honestly just trying
- 5:22to really understand this story. I don't
- 5:24want to rush through it, especially at
- 5:25the beginning because it's fantasy.
- 5:27There's like a whole magical aspect to
- 5:28it. Also, I feel like my hair is just
- 5:30going to get curlier and frizzier as the
- 5:31night goes on. But yeah, we're 100 pages
- 5:33in and honestly, so far the story is
- 5:35really good. I've actually already
- 5:37teared up twice. The story deals a lot
- 5:39with grief and you find out pretty early
- 5:41on why. Female main character is dealing
- 5:43with the loss of somebody super super
- 5:45close to her. She's 32 years old and she
- 5:47is there's a word for what she does. I
- 5:50literally just read it. She is a
- 5:53hordiculturist. Basically somebody that
- 5:55knows all about plants, flowers, all of
- 5:57that. She gets a job as the head
- 5:58gardener at this very, very, very iconic
- 6:02famous mansion. And the gardens at this
- 6:04mansion are known to be magical. The
- 6:06fantasy aspects of the story happen when
- 6:09one day she's taking care of the garden.
- 6:10She finds this mysterious door that
- 6:13leads to another small garden. And in
- 6:15that small garden, there is a man stuck
- 6:19in that garden. Like he can't leave that
- 6:21garden and she's the only one that sees
- 6:23the door to the garden. So I think
- 6:24there's going to be like a romance
- 6:26situation going on there. But at the
- 6:28very same time, there's a man that
- 6:29arrives at the house and she starts kind
- 6:31of like forming a romance situation with
- 6:33him. There's a love triangle. One man
- 6:36that is stuck in this magical garden and
- 6:38another man that is in like the real
- 6:41world.
- 6:46>> [music]
- 6:50>> It is 2:51 in the morning, but I just
- 6:54got to chapter 25, page 204. So, I just
- 6:57read another 100 pages. Those entire 100
- 7:00pages gave me all of the vibes of The
- 7:04Vampire Diaries when it's team Damon,
- 7:06team Stefan in a very, very different
- 7:08scenario, but very similar vibes. There
- 7:10are two men, one girl. It literally just
- 7:12keeps going back and forth. You don't
- 7:14really know which one she's going to
- 7:15choose. I have my favorite though. I am
- 7:17team secret garden man. I'll see you
- 7:20guys in 100 pages.

- 8:14>> Okay, you guys, it's 4 in the morning,
- 8:16so I need to go to sleep immediately.
- 8:18I'm filming an entire video tomorrow or
- 8:20today. I don't even know. But I did end
- 8:23up finishing The Sunday Garden. I am so
- 8:26so tempted to give this book five stars,
- 8:28but I had to think about it for a
- 8:30second. I think the ending was five
- 8:32stars. I think overall I'm going to give
- 8:34the book 4.75. But I absolutely love
- 8:37this book. So much emotion in this book.
- 8:41Such a beautiful, beautiful story about
- 8:43grief, about female friendships, about
- 8:45finding herself again, about finding the
- 8:47love for life again. So many beautiful
- 8:50messages in such a cute, whimsical
- 8:53story. I know I keep saying that word,
- 8:55but that's really what this book felt
- 8:56like. Like the gist of the book is that
- 8:58it's about a secret garden and it sounds
- 9:00like such a cutesy idea, but it's crazy
- 9:02to me that there was so much heart in
- 9:05this book, especially towards the end. I
- 9:07thought the ending was beautiful. If
- 9:09you've read the book or you're going to
- 9:10read the book, the maze part with her
- 9:12best friend at the end broke my heart.
- 9:15Highly, highly, highly recommend. I'm
- 9:18going to go to sleep now.
- 9:25>> [music]
- 9:33[music]
- 9:42>> Okay, you guys, it's the next day of
- 9:43this vlog. I've literally filmed and
- 9:45uploaded two other videos since I
- 9:47started this vlog, but I'm finally
- 9:48getting back to this reading vlog. All
- 9:50I'm literally planning to do the next
- 9:51couple of days is read. I just did the
- 9:53little spin the wheel thing and the next
- 9:54book we're going to be reading in this
- 9:55vlog is The Shampoo Effect. I've heard
- 9:57so much about this book. I've honestly
- 9:59seen the cover of this book so much
- 10:02online throughout the summer. It's a
- 10:03fiction kind of story. I don't know. I'm
- 10:05very excited to read it. Judging by the
- 10:06cover, it does feel very summery, so I'm
- 10:08hoping it's a nice book to wrap up the
- 10:10summer.
- 10:13[music]
- 10:15We're actually headed on over to the
- 10:17library today. I really just want to do
- 10:18some reading there. just browse around.
- 10:20But I actually made a super quick stop.
- 10:22A new Airwan actually opened up super
- 10:24close to me, so I decided to come in
- 10:25today. These are their overnight oats.
- 10:27Specifically, this one I've been wanting
- 10:28to try out for a really long time. This
- 10:30is their matcha overnight oats. And then
- 10:32my hot bar plate, which I'm really,
- 10:33really excited about. I got their
- 10:35buffalo cauliflower. I also got their
- 10:37old school mac and cheese and also their
- 10:39roasted salmon.
- 10:44Could
- 10:46[music]
- 10:56I please get your pumpkin [music] patch
- 10:57cloud latte? A medium. Hello.
- 10:59>> Hello.
- 11:01>> Here you are. [music]
- 11:02>> You too. Thank you. This is a medium.
- 11:06Holy.
- 11:15Today's actually the first day that it's
- 11:17not 90ยฐ, which means it's fall. I don't
- 11:21care. Literally, as soon as I'm done
- 11:23filming this reading vlog, I'm filming
- 11:24my first fall vlog of the season. But I
- 11:26decided to start a little bit early and
- 11:29I came to Duncan to get a fall themed
- 11:30drink. I got what they call their
- 11:32pumpkin patch cloud latte. And I also
- 11:34got one of their pumpkin glaze donuts.
- 11:37Just a little fall treat. The plan after
- 11:40was to go to this library that I really
- 11:41like going to, but I completely forgot
- 11:43that it's closed on Monday. So, I ended
- 11:44up just searching up like a little
- 11:46random library nearby. I ended up going
- 11:48into it, but it was just not the vibe.
- 11:50It was super super super busy. There was
- 11:53not one table or seat that I could sit
- 11:56at. I think the universe is trying to
- 11:57tell me to stop with the cute little
- 11:59things that I want to do and just get to
- 12:01reading. I really, really want to finish
- 12:03the shampoo effect today. I have my
- 12:05coffee. I'm going to drink this on my
- 12:06way home right now.
- 12:09[music]
- 12:14It's [music] been hours since I last
- 12:16talked to you guys. I don't know what
- 12:17was in that Duncan coffee, but I'm
- 12:19currently 56%
- 12:22through. And I'm honestly enjoying this
- 12:24book so freaking much. I was a little
- 12:26worried because I've seen so many mixed
- 12:28reviews online about this book. I feel
- 12:30like it's one of those books that you
- 12:32either absolutely love it or absolutely
- 12:33hate it. Where I am right now, 56%
- 12:35through. I love it. I'm not going to
- 12:38lie. I actually just got to a really big
- 12:39part of the book, which is when I
- 12:41remember to turn on my camera and fill
- 12:42you guys in. I don't know if I saw this
- 12:43online or one of you guys actually
- 12:45commented this on a video of mine where
- 12:47I mentioned I wanted to read this book.
- 12:49I saw somebody say that the plot twists
- 12:51in this book were absolutely insane. And
- 12:53honestly, so far, it doesn't feel like a
- 12:56book where there would be plot twists.
- 12:58It literally feels like Gossip Girl, but
- 13:00instead of teenagers, it's a bunch of
- 13:02people in their 30s. Instead of New York
- 13:03City, it all takes place in a little
- 13:05beach town. Also, it's a lot less
- 13:06glamorous than Gossip Girl. It's about
- 13:08this friend group that have known each
- 13:09other since high school, I think. Like,
- 13:12they've known each other for a really,
- 13:13really long time. But this book starts
- 13:14out through the point of view of a girl
- 13:15that starts dating one of the guys in
- 13:17that friend group. But the interesting
- 13:18thing about this book is that every
- 13:19chapter switches between point of views.
- 13:21It's what I love most and hate the most
- 13:23about the book so far. Every chapter,
- 13:25you're getting a point of view from a
- 13:26different person in the friend group.
- 13:27Every single person in this friend group
- 13:29is going through something. Whether it's
- 13:30the married friend that thinks that her
- 13:32husband is cheating, whether it's
- 13:33another friend that just got pregnant,
- 13:34whether it's the other friend that has
- 13:36like three kids. The thing that I'm
- 13:37finding is that there are like one or
- 13:39two characters that are more interesting
- 13:40to me than the others. So, a chapter
- 13:42will end at a really, really good part
- 13:44of what they're going through and then
- 13:45the next chapter switches to a different
- 13:47character. So, you have to read the
- 13:49chapters of the other characters before
- 13:50getting back to the one that you just
- 13:52read. If that makes any sense. I don't
- 13:54think it does. Also, a few chapters ago,
- 13:55I found out why this book is called The
- 13:57Shampoo Effect. It's a very, very unique
- 13:59kind of metaphor, and it's literally the
- 14:01entire gist of the story.
- 14:04[music]
- 14:10[music]
- 14:16[music]
- 14:21>> [music]
- 14:27[music]
- 14:30>> I just got to one of the plot twists. I
- 14:32actually don't know if there's going to
- 14:33be more, but I just got to a plot twist
- 14:35that is actually so crazy. And the way
- 14:38that it's revealed is in such a subtle
- 14:40way. I did not see that coming at all.
- 14:42But what I'm starting to gather is that
- 14:44any plot twists that continue to happen
- 14:46are going to be all of the ways that
- 14:48this friend group can fall apart.
- 14:50Basically, all of these friends that
- 14:51have known each other for like 30 years
- 14:52have all of these little secrets between
- 14:54them that can pretty much make the
- 14:57entire friend group fall apart. One of
- 14:58the secrets was just revealed and I'm
- 15:00hoping there's more because this one was
- 15:01absolutely crazy. These plot twists are
- 15:05like scandalous, gossipy sort of plot
- 15:08twist. Feels like watching a reality
- 15:09show.
- 15:12You guys, it's currently 12:04. I'm 93%
- 15:15done with the book. And honestly, the
- 15:17cutest part of the book just happened.
- 15:19The two characters that I thought were
- 15:20the least interesting ended up being my
- 15:23favorite characters. It's the married
- 15:25couple that have two kids. Their story
- 15:27started out feeling like the least
- 15:29interesting one, but it literally just
- 15:31turned into my favorite. I have 21
- 15:32minutes left in the book. It's 12:05
- 15:35now, so let's finish up this book.
- 15:37[music]
- 15:45>> [music]
- 15:52[music]
- 15:53>> Okay, you guys. I just finished The
- 15:55Shampoo Effect. It's not even 1:00 a.m.
- 15:56yet, so that's a win for me. But I
- 15:58desperately need to go take a shower and
- 16:00take off this makeup. I'm going to try
- 16:01to give my little review kind of quick.
- 16:03This book was so fun. It felt like such
- 16:07a different kind of book. This is
- 16:08honestly why I love to read fiction
- 16:10books, like contemporary fiction. I feel
- 16:12like the past few weeks, maybe months, I
- 16:14haven't really been gravitating towards
- 16:16romance books. You guys already know I
- 16:17absolutely adore romance books, romcoms,
- 16:20all of that. But the thing about those
- 16:21books is that you know exactly how the
- 16:23story is going to go. It can be very
- 16:24cute and enjoyable, but it's very
- 16:27predictable. Like, you know this couple
- 16:29is going to end up together no matter
- 16:30what. But these kinds of books, like The
- 16:32Shampoo Effect, are the kinds of stories
- 16:34that literally anything can happen. This
- 16:36story could have literally ended in a
- 16:38million different ways. The ending of
- 16:40this book, though, I'm not going to lie,
- 16:42so annoying, but also amazing at the
- 16:44same time. Every chapter felt like
- 16:46something new that was happening in
- 16:47these characters' lives. So, it kind of
- 16:49felt like a crazy reality show, but at
- 16:51the same time, it also felt like a very,
- 16:53very realistic, brutally honest look
- 16:55into these 30-something yearear-olds
- 16:57lives. And it was just so fun and
- 16:59interesting and messy. But anyways, the
- 17:02shampoo effect I'm going to give 4.5.
- 17:05Did I say 4.5 or 4.75?
- 17:08One of those. I'm going to do the little
- 17:10spin the wheel. We're going to see what
- 17:11book I'm going to start tomorrow.
- 17:17Okay. I'm actually thrilled about this
- 17:20because I really, really want to read a
- 17:21thriller.
- 17:24[music]
- 17:33>> [music]
- 17:33>> Okay, I don't even know if you guys can
- 17:34hear me because my fan is so loud, but
- 17:36it's currently 2:30 in the morning. I'm
- 17:38reading Final Girls right now. I just
- 17:40made it to the 76% mark. I think it's
- 17:43because it's the middle of the night,
- 17:44but I am so freaked out right now, but I
- 17:47can't put it down. It's actually super
- 17:50good. It's been like a day and a half
- 17:51since I last talked to you guys. I am
- 17:53about to finish Final Girls right now.
- 17:56It's currently 400 p.m. I've been
- 17:57editing this video and just running
- 17:58around all day, so I haven't had a
- 18:00chance to read. But when I tell you
- 18:01guys, I have literally been dying to get
- 18:04back to this book. I'm on chapter 37. I
- 18:06really thought I was going to finish
- 18:08this book last night, but it started
- 18:09getting really late. And even though
- 18:11this book so far hasn't been as creepy
- 18:13as other Riley Sager books, it's still
- 18:16very eerie. Like, the gist of this story
- 18:18is so creepy. So, I decided I wanted to
- 18:21finish this book in broad daylight and
- 18:22save myself a couple of nightmares. But,
- 18:24let me just quickly explain to you guys
- 18:26the gist of Final Girls because this
- 18:28story, like a lot of Riley Sager
- 18:30stories, literally all of them, it has
- 18:32such an interesting plot. Like, I just
- 18:35know that I've never read a book with
- 18:37this storyline before. So, the book is
- 18:39called Final Girls. Who are these final
- 18:41girls? The final girls in this book are
- 18:43three girls that all survived different
- 18:46and separate massacres. One was a
- 18:48massacre at a cottage where this girl
- 18:49was with her friends in the woods.
- 18:51Another one was at a hotel that she was
- 18:52working at. And then another one was a
- 18:54sorority house massacre. Basically, the
- 18:56media becomes obsessed with these three
- 18:58young girls. Even though they'd never
- 19:00met before, they became the final girls.
- 19:02When this book starts, it's like 10, 15
- 19:04years later, and one of those final
- 19:05girls is found unal alive. It looks like
- 19:08she did it herself, but the more they
- 19:10investigate, the more it's becoming
- 19:11noticeable that somebody actually
- 19:13unalived her. The book starts out with
- 19:15all three girls being an emphasis in the
- 19:17story. But really, this book is about
- 19:19the main girl whose point of view you're
- 19:20getting it from, who is the survivor of
- 19:22the cottage massacre. She and her five
- 19:24other friends all went to this cottage
- 19:25in the woods and after this man that
- 19:27escaped an insane asylum and alived all
- 19:29of her friends, she was the only one
- 19:30that survived. However, the actual
- 19:32events of what happened might have not
- 19:34been just that. So, a lot is going on in
- 19:36this book. I've been so entertained the
- 19:39entire time. I'm not even going to lie.
- 19:40I also found out that this is actually
- 19:42Riley Sager's first book. Okay, I'm on
- 19:44chapter 37. It says I have 43 minutes
- 19:47left of the book. Let's go ahead and
- 19:48finish Final Girls. Here we go.
- 19:53[music]
- 19:57Chapter 40. I'm 87% through. This book
- 20:01honestly needs to be a movie. Like the
- 20:03way that I'm imagining this cottage and
- 20:04these characters, it would be such a
- 20:06good thriller movie.
- 20:13>> [music]
- 20:21>> Just got to chapter 41. The entire book
- 20:24has been leading up to this specific
- 20:27chapter when everything's revealed. It
- 20:29better be good.
- 20:37[music]
- 20:46>> [laughter]
- 20:46>> Wait, this is ridiculous.
- 20:5035 minutes later, I'm done with Final
- 20:52Girls. I honestly really really enjoyed
- 20:54that book. I think I want to give it
- 20:55like 4.5. It wasn't a five-st star book,
- 20:58but it also wasn't a four-st star. Like
- 21:00four stars just feels like it was good.
- 21:02It was more than good, but not great, if
- 21:04that makes sense. Like in other writer
- 21:06books, he goes above and beyond and just
- 21:09gives you the most insane plot twist.
- 21:11But I honestly did really really enjoy
- 21:13it. I'm telling you guys, the storyline
- 21:15of this book is crazy because throughout
- 21:16the book, you're finding out about these
- 21:18three different massacres. It just feels
- 21:20like you're reading a literal horror
- 21:22movie. I will say the main character was
- 21:25slightly unlikable. Also, another thing,
- 21:27especially towards the end of the book,
- 21:29there were some parts that were honestly
- 21:31kind of uncomfortable to read. But all
- 21:32in all, I think I'm going to give this
- 21:34book 4.75
- 21:37or maybe 4.5. Let's go 4.5. I'm going to
- 21:40head to my workout class right now. But
- 21:41later tonight, I will be starting The
- 21:43Divorce by Freda McFaten. And then I
- 21:44think right after Freedom McFaten, I'm
- 21:46going to read my book club's read for
- 21:48September, which I can actually buy
- 21:49right now. His new book is called The
- 21:51Unknown. It says, "In 1926, five women
- 21:54disappeared from a remote island in
- 21:56Vermont. Now 100 years later, it's
- 21:59happening again." I think it's going to
- 22:00be like scary, supernatural vibes. But
- 22:02anyways, I think I might conclude this
- 22:04reading vlog here. Tomorrow and the day
- 22:06after, I'm finally filming my fall vlog.
- 22:08My first fall vlog. But yeah, that is
- 22:10going to be it for this reading vlog.
- 22:11Thank you guys so so much for watching.
- 22:12I love you guys so much and I will see
- 22:14[music] you in my next vlog. Bye.
- 22:19>> [music]
