  2. 0:00Victor Davis Hansen is one of the
  3. 0:02clearest thinkers I know Victor is an
  4. 0:05American classicist Military historian
  5. 0:08political commentator and farmer perhaps
  6. 0:11that's what makes him so brilliant he
  7. 0:13says cultural Marxism inside our major
  8. 0:15institutions and American weakness
  9. 0:17abroad has led to chaos around the world
  10. 0:20seeking clarity about the wars in
  11. 0:22Ukraine and Israel the collapse of
  12. 0:24America's borders and our universities
  13. 0:27Victor provides insight
  14. 0:30so I want to actually start by sharing
  15. 0:32something that I haven't had a chance to
  16. 0:34tell you yet and that is you know that
  17. 0:37as the CEO of Prager you I'm obviously
  18. 0:39on the front lines of much of the
  19. 0:41insanity that we're experiencing here in
  20. 0:43America for Better or For Worse it all
  21. 0:45comes to my desk somehow yes and you
  22. 0:48know you have been medicine for my brain
  23. 0:52well thank I listen to you religiously
  24. 0:54just to keep my cool and keep my calm
  25. 0:57and find common sense and I want to say
  26. 1:00that anybody who does not know about you
  27. 1:02yet if they are looking for medicine for
  28. 1:05their brain they should go ahead and
  29. 1:07look you up because um really I'm I'm a
  30. 1:11groupy I'm a groupy I read every single
  31. 1:13thing right I always like to hear that
  32. 1:15because I get a lot of the opposite I'm
  33. 1:18toxic I'm poisonous and I even have a
  34. 1:20column on our website called The Angry
  35. 1:22reader and I put them in and people
  36. 1:24can't believe them because they're just
  37. 1:26a slur of
  38. 1:27exotivs yeah so it's it's a very
  39. 1:31controversial time I never met anybody
  40. 1:34who was Jewish till I was 18 years old
  41. 1:36and until I went to UC sanac Cruz but I
  42. 1:38always my parents were Truman Democrats
  43. 1:42and they were big admirers of Israel so
  44. 1:44I remember when I was
  45. 1:4703 and it was during The Six Day War and
  46. 1:50the Fresno be had a map of Israel and
  47. 1:53they had little tank symbols and
  48. 1:55airplane symbols and there was Egypt I
  49. 1:57was interested in military history as a
  50. 1:59kid and there was Egypt Jordan Iraq
  51. 2:04Syria Lebanon and then there was Saudi
  52. 2:06in the gulf and they all had symbols for
  53. 2:08the number of planes and tanks and then
  54. 2:10there was little Israel so I'd say to my
  55. 2:12dad and mom looks like little Israel is
  56. 2:14going to be destroyed because you know
  57. 2:16the they have this I even knew the names
  58. 2:18of the migs and my mom and no no no no
  59. 2:20no it's not the equipment Victor it's
  60. 2:23the people who operate the equipment
  61. 2:25Israel will win I said they can't win
  62. 2:27they're outnumbered and they said they
  63. 2:29will win in week and it was six days and
  64. 2:31my dad and mom said that they were big
  65. 2:33supporters of Israel oh
  66. 2:35wow I want to ask you a little bit about
  67. 2:38America yes CU you know I was born here
  68. 2:41in the states and I have just seen a
  69. 2:44deterioration that frankly really freaks
  70. 2:47me out uh you know I don't feel like I
  71. 2:50can trust the major institutions the
  72. 2:53education system has failed us the media
  73. 2:56fails us the judicial system is a
  74. 3:01failure the medical system is a failure
  75. 3:06do you think I can still say honestly
  76. 3:09that America is a city on the hill can
  77. 3:11you say that uh it depends on what
  78. 3:14America means if you mean the totality
  79. 3:17of the institutions of population no but
  80. 3:21what the left has done because I think a
  81. 3:23lot of the common denominator what
  82. 3:24you're talking about is an deductive
  83. 3:27leftist agenda so Hollywood
  84. 3:32television professional sports the
  85. 3:34corporate boardroom media Silicon Valley
  86. 3:37foundations K through2 the campus it's
  87. 3:39all controlled by the left and they've
  88. 3:41done that I think because they don't
  89. 3:43have a popular agenda by that I mean if
  90. 3:45you look at what people pull on their
  91. 3:48open border or defunding the police or
  92. 3:52the green New Deal whatever aspect of
  93. 3:54this 360 degree they don't have
  94. 3:5851% they're able to enact policies
  95. 4:01because they went through the
  96. 4:02institutions and captured them so they
  97. 4:04have an exaggerated form of power in
  98. 4:07certain places to get things done on
  99. 4:09certain issues but when you actually
  100. 4:12that agenda comes back to the American
  101. 4:14people usually although not at the
  102. 4:16national level anymore with presidential
  103. 4:18elections the Republicans have lost six
  104. 4:20out of the last seven popular votes but
  105. 4:24state by state the American people on
  106. 4:26most of those issues 55 to 60%
  107. 4:30are traditional Americans and that's
  108. 4:33kind of amazing because the institutions
  109. 4:35for the first time are not in their
  110. 4:37hands and they're antithetical to the
  111. 4:39outage American so I still have some
  112. 4:42faith in the system it hasn't been
  113. 4:45completely destroyed but I don't know if
  114. 4:46I can say that to you if we were to have
  115. 4:48this conversation in 10 years five years
  116. 4:52it's accelerating that's why it's very
  117. 4:54important for everybody to speak up as
  118. 4:56much as they can according to their
  119. 4:57station how do you think we got to this
  120. 5:00point where American institutions don't
  121. 5:03actually share the values of actual
  122. 5:06Americans long term when you look at
  123. 5:10civilizations like Rome or
  124. 5:12Greece and
  125. 5:15Byzantium and you you look at people who
  126. 5:18talked about it whether poets catelas
  127. 5:22novelists um petronus or in the Greek
  128. 5:26context Plato Aristotle Theus they all
  129. 5:28had a common denominator and that is the
  130. 5:30greatest challenge to a society is
  131. 5:33Leisure and affluence and that was a
  132. 5:36combination of a unique Western
  133. 5:38symbiosis between constitutional
  134. 5:40government which is the best and only
  135. 5:43effective form but it gives a person a
  136. 5:45great deal of prosperity and freedom and
  137. 5:49combine that with a type of market
  138. 5:51economics that produces capital and
  139. 5:53excess so then it we the citizen then
  140. 5:57must rely on his family
  141. 6:00religion uh shame
  142. 6:03ancestors sense of tradition nationalism
  143. 6:06patriotism anything that represses those
  144. 6:09appetites because if you get rid of
  145. 6:11those blinders so to speak and we have
  146. 6:15then these kids are growing up where
  147. 6:19they think a $1,100 cell phone is
  148. 6:21obsolete in a year they want a new one
  149. 6:23or I I live in a very poor um Community
  150. 6:27where the per capita income is about
  151. 6:2816,000
  152. 6:3095% Hispanic and I was getting my
  153. 6:32haircut and two parents were trying to
  154. 6:35debate whether they were going to buy on
  155. 6:38credit a Lexus or Mercedes for their
  156. 6:41daughter's 16th birthday wow and I
  157. 6:43thought just 20 years ago that would
  158. 6:45been impossible so I think we for we
  159. 6:48forget how much Bounty and excess and
  160. 6:51freedom there is and so we're always
  161. 6:53airing on do not judge do not make a
  162. 6:57judgment do not offend some somebody's
  163. 6:59fre and the totality of that movement
  164. 7:01has been we have complete
  165. 7:04license and that that's true of all
  166. 7:06civilizations but then the left has
  167. 7:09changed because it did something that
  168. 7:11was fundamentally uh important I don't
  169. 7:14think most people realize they used to
  170. 7:16have this word race class and gender
  171. 7:18that was their gend if you notice they
  172. 7:19never they they got rid of the class and
  173. 7:22they got rid of the class
  174. 7:24because America was too upwardly mobile
  175. 7:27or fluid you and I could be in a
  176. 7:30particular class but we could either not
  177. 7:31be in that class or our children are not
  178. 7:33given the birth right so they never had
  179. 7:35a permanent European peasantry they
  180. 7:38started to gravitate with open
  181. 7:41borders and the traditional black white
  182. 7:44dichotomy but especially now with
  183. 7:46Hispanic and they said we have a new
  184. 7:48victim and the Dei woke fir whatever you
  185. 7:52want to call it says anybody who is not
  186. 7:54so-called white is fits into the
  187. 7:57cultural Marxist paradigm victim
  188. 8:00victimizer oppressed oppress
  189. 8:03oppressor and that was very successful
  190. 8:07because it was it flew in the face of
  191. 8:10all traditional criteria of Oppression
  192. 8:12so all of a
  193. 8:14sudden Professor kendi is a victim Opa
  194. 8:18is a victim Opa says she went into a
  195. 8:20Swiss uh store and somebody didn't give
  196. 8:22her a lizard person she's suddenly a
  197. 8:24victim LeBron James is a victim Michelle
  198. 8:28Obama was at Target and she lifted up uh
  199. 8:31tried to get a package that somebody
  200. 8:33requested she's a victim and and so what
  201. 8:35they did was they bifurcated the United
  202. 8:37States into 67% or whatever they call of
  203. 8:41oppressors and the rest 33% of oppress
  204. 8:46and then they made this colonialist or
  205. 8:49anti-colonialist argument and you have
  206. 8:52what you
  207. 8:54have uh because of your race and
  208. 8:56privilege and oppression it's anti pacle
  209. 8:59they and you say to him okay there's a
  210. 9:01guy in Bakersfield he can't get he's
  211. 9:03never gone to high school his son's on a
  212. 9:05fork Clift they have no privilege at all
  213. 9:08he can't you tell me well he's white
  214. 9:12he's white and so that was a really
  215. 9:14pernicious and that came in really with
  216. 9:16Barack Obama there was a word we was not
  217. 9:19in wide currency diversity and suddenly
  218. 9:22he took that word and that was diversity
  219. 9:24diversity all of a sudden I I thought I
  220. 9:26was teaching and I would go and I heard
  221. 9:29there were people that I had known my
  222. 9:31entire lives in my community and at Cal
  223. 9:34State or
  224. 9:35Stanford and they were from India and
  225. 9:38they were siks and they came with
  226. 9:39enormous amounts of money I knew people
  227. 9:42from Korea that came and all of a sudden
  228. 9:43they were telling me they were victims
  229. 9:46yeah I didn't know Victor that that uh
  230. 9:50this place was so racist I said well can
  231. 9:52you show me what happened you you owned
  232. 9:545,000 Acres you're a multi-millionaire
  233. 9:57well I don't but my daughter came home
  234. 9:59home and told and that was that's where
  235. 10:01we are now we're cultural Marxism that
  236. 10:04bifurcated there's no middle class we
  237. 10:06say and everybody is trying to find a
  238. 10:11gimmick or a lever so when you reward
  239. 10:13that then everybody comes out of little
  240. 10:15woodwork whether it's um Elizabeth
  241. 10:19Warren trying to create an identity of a
  242. 10:21victim or I just saw the other day Buffy
  243. 10:24St Marie a folk singer that I always
  244. 10:26thought was Native American we find out
  245. 10:28she wasn't she's a
  246. 10:29Italian and it's this fixation in our
  247. 10:33society on race and it permeates
  248. 10:35everything FAA is we're only hiring 50%
  249. 10:39of our new air traffic controllers on
  250. 10:41Merit uh United Airlines so we've really
  251. 10:46kind of in a hysteria it's like the S
  252. 10:47them witch trials in the McCarthy period
  253. 10:49where people have lost their sense of of
  254. 10:52tradition or empiricism they're they're
  255. 10:55just deductive hysterics and it's I do I
  256. 10:58know this is a little eccentric but I do
  257. 11:00blame Barack Obama because he ushered
  258. 11:02that in almost immediately my
  259. 11:04grandmother was racist well his
  260. 11:06grandmother raised him and gave all of
  261. 11:08her money to presend him to prep school
  262. 11:10he went to Accidental he's a victim and
  263. 11:13then LeBron uh Trayvon is a son I never
  264. 11:16had I thought to myself as soon as you
  265. 11:18said that my son would have looked like
  266. 11:20Trevon Martin I said what if Bill
  267. 11:22Clinton right in the middle of the OJ
  268. 11:23trial said that my daughter if I'd had a
  269. 11:27daughter another daughter she would have
  270. 11:28looked like OJ's vict you it would be
  271. 11:31Unthinkable so the unthinkable became
  272. 11:33normalized and now we're into this cycle
  273. 11:36where race race race is essential and
  274. 11:38not incidental to who we are and that
  275. 11:41has a lot of ramifications especially
  276. 11:43with the Israeli Palestinian question
  277. 11:45you know it started with what you're
  278. 11:47describing this victim Bingo which is
  279. 11:50that Marxist ideology and now I feel
  280. 11:52like it's progressing into the other
  281. 11:54subject that you brought up which is the
  282. 11:56decolonization yes right anything that
  283. 11:58has to do with with anybody who is
  284. 12:00potentially somewhat white is a
  285. 12:02colonizer and therefore they have stolen
  286. 12:04the land from the indigenous people um
  287. 12:07I'm hearing this about this is what's
  288. 12:09being taught in American schools about
  289. 12:11America but I'm curious if you're as
  290. 12:15concerned as I am about this Narrative
  291. 12:17of
  292. 12:17decolonization I keep asking people tell
  293. 12:20me which country you're willing to move
  294. 12:22to that has not been colonized cuz I'd
  295. 12:25like to see that and what does that even
  296. 12:27mean I was in the uh food store and a
  297. 12:33woman said we are
  298. 12:36Aztecs and she was Hispanic young and
  299. 12:38she had dyed blonde hair so I was
  300. 12:40kidding her she was very nice I said
  301. 12:42you're culturally appropriating my
  302. 12:44Scandinavian
  303. 12:45ancestors and then she said well we were
  304. 12:48oppressed we were Aztecs and we were
  305. 12:50colonized by the Spanish and then they
  306. 12:53destroyed our identity and I said well I
  307. 12:55have to ask you a question cuz I've
  308. 12:57written extensively I told on the Aztecs
  309. 13:00so 4 million Aztecs are colonized by
  310. 13:04Hernan Cortez who had won any given
  311. 13:07moment never had more than 1500 people
  312. 13:09how'd he do it I said even with gunpow
  313. 13:12he couldn't do it so I said he did it
  314. 13:15because the Aztecs were the most
  315. 13:17despised people in indigenous Mexico and
  316. 13:19the pla Callin for example died in Rose
  317. 13:22to free themselves from the Aztec
  318. 13:25Colonial
  319. 13:26oppressors and our Cortez was an
  320. 13:29opportunist that just said we'll get rid
  321. 13:31of one colonial's power and we'll
  322. 13:33substitute ourselves and then she got on
  323. 13:36the Middle East that's another thing
  324. 13:38it's very strange that the BLM movement
  325. 13:40the laraza movement have sort of fused
  326. 13:43in with the Palestinian for the reasons
  327. 13:45we're talking about so I she said well
  328. 13:48you have to admit there's colonization I
  329. 13:50said no I don't have to admit she said
  330. 13:52the Jews have colonized Israel and I
  331. 13:54said they've been here since 3,000 years
  332. 13:56before Christ and before and then I said
  333. 13:59the British did she saides the British
  334. 14:01did I said but the British only did
  335. 14:03because they won World War I and the
  336. 14:04Ottomans lost so the ottoman Colony
  337. 14:07ended up in British hands she said the
  338. 14:09Ottomans who are they and I said well
  339. 14:11they ran it for 400 years so you know
  340. 14:15and you talk to people on campus and
  341. 14:18you'll see somebody from the Middle East
  342. 14:19who say you know Spain used to be Arabic
  343. 14:23and I said yes they tried to colonize it
  344. 14:26North Africa but they're not indigenous
  345. 14:28to to Spain El andalo is a is an import
  346. 14:33so a lot of it's ignorance they just
  347. 14:36have these cardboard cutout and it's
  348. 14:38really if you think about it
  349. 14:41decolonization colonization it's just
  350. 14:43words for white or nonwhite and when
  351. 14:46they hear that a colonizing power is
  352. 14:49non-white they drop
  353. 14:51everything that's the biggest problem
  354. 14:52we're having right now and it really
  355. 14:54affects Israel especially when we use
  356. 14:57these words and they're kind of
  357. 14:59keystones when everybody wants to know
  358. 15:01whether people don't like Israel because
  359. 15:03they're anti-semitic or
  360. 15:05not it's hard to adjudicate what their
  361. 15:08actual motive is sometimes but you can
  362. 15:10really find out when you ask them terms
  363. 15:13they use and to why they don't apply it
  364. 15:16so if you say
  365. 15:18apartheid and you say if you're in China
  366. 15:22and you don't look Chinese you're a
  367. 15:23second class citizen I said if you're
  368. 15:26Jewish and you were in the Middle East
  369. 15:28900,000 of them you were second class
  370. 15:31citizens or was that apartheid they
  371. 15:33don't want to you say
  372. 15:36occupation why aren't you objecting to
  373. 15:38the cypriots that are under occupation
  374. 15:41in Northern
  375. 15:42Cyprus to the degree they're still there
  376. 15:45and they're they're not ref and I go
  377. 15:46with the
  378. 15:47refugees genocide are you worried about
  379. 15:49the Armenians how about and they say
  380. 15:51well that was ancient I don't know
  381. 15:52anything about that well how about deor
  382. 15:53they killed
  383. 15:55500,000 and they don't have an answer so
  384. 15:58then I said why is it tiny little Israel
  385. 16:01you have all this genocide you have all
  386. 16:04of this aparte you have all these
  387. 16:07refugees you have all these occupations
  388. 16:09of world war but you only focus on this
  389. 16:11one
  390. 16:12particular and they have no answer what
  391. 16:15do you think the answer is to that if I
  392. 16:17was charitable to them I would say well
  393. 16:20maybe it's because 40% of the world's
  394. 16:22oil reserves are in the Middle East
  395. 16:24under Arab control maybe people have no
  396. 16:29morality they're just amoral and they
  397. 16:30look at Israel and they say
  398. 16:32well you know 10 million Jews
  399. 16:36and 500 million Arabs or they can say
  400. 16:41worldwide 16 million of the Jewish faith
  401. 16:44and two billion Islam so it's a
  402. 16:46no-brainer I'm going to go with the the
  403. 16:48bully the big
  404. 16:49power but that still doesn't
  405. 16:53explain because the same asymmetry
  406. 16:56applies to all the victims of Islam
  407. 16:59whether it's Armenians or cypriotes or
  408. 17:02Greeks or Israel so you have to say to
  409. 17:04yourself well you're not talking about
  410. 17:06what the Ottomans did to Greeks or the
  411. 17:09Armenian Holocaust why do you just
  412. 17:11fixate on what Israel Israel Israel
  413. 17:14Israel and so I do think it's
  414. 17:16anti-Semitism and it's acceptable the
  415. 17:19problem with it now is when it was on
  416. 17:21the right it was easily identifiable the
  417. 17:24people were crude I never met anybody
  418. 17:26who was Jewish as I said to I was 18 but
  419. 17:28I heard about it and there were always
  420. 17:31some disgruntled farmer and he said you
  421. 17:33know I got $3 on my plums cuz they sent
  422. 17:36it back there to the east coast and the
  423. 17:38Jews just took all the money but it was
  424. 17:41very crude the way they talked well at
  425. 17:43Stanford or where I work or other it's
  426. 17:46very refined and it comes from the left
  427. 17:49and it's always cloaked in the idea of
  428. 17:51equality and diversity and compassion
  429. 17:54for the victim and therefore it's much
  430. 17:57more Insidious and they can give get
  431. 17:58away with it especially with
  432. 18:00the race you know critical race Theory
  433. 18:03says that people who are not white
  434. 18:05cannot be racist so it's it's much
  435. 18:09harder to stop than the old in-your-face
  436. 18:11Clan National Socialist
  437. 18:14anti-Semitism do you think it's an
  438. 18:16exaggeration when people say that being
  439. 18:20anti-israel means being an
  440. 18:24anti-semite no because when you say to
  441. 18:27people that make that distinction so
  442. 18:31you're
  443. 18:32anti-israel and they say yes but I'm not
  444. 18:36anti-emetic so I said you don't like the
  445. 18:3921% Arabs that are in Israel they'll say
  446. 18:42I don't well either don't know that or
  447. 18:46they'll say they're an apartheid and
  448. 18:47they say no they have they vote they
  449. 18:49have political parties they have more
  450. 18:50Prosperity Freedom security than the AR
  451. 18:52Arab and they'll say really there's 21
  452. 18:55or if they do know that they said' no
  453. 18:57that's an exception so when that tells
  454. 18:59me
  455. 19:00that they're
  456. 19:03anti-israel in the sense that when they
  457. 19:06they're anti 79% of the population of
  458. 19:09Israel but if you ask them River to the
  459. 19:12Sea and you want to destroy Israel what
  460. 19:15will you do with the 21% that are Arabs
  461. 19:18and you know what they're going to say
  462. 19:19they say well we're going to take them
  463. 19:20and and they they'll be the kernel of
  464. 19:22the new Palestinian state so yes it is
  465. 19:25the same and it's easy detectable with
  466. 19:27three or four questions H and once they
  467. 19:30admit it and get trapped they just say
  468. 19:32it they just say it so you think the
  469. 19:35anti-israel that hatred is either
  470. 19:38anti-semitic or
  471. 19:41ignorance my general feeling is the more
  472. 19:44education that a person has the more
  473. 19:46anti-semitic they are wow and so I think
  474. 19:49it's it's not ignorance
  475. 19:53it's when you meet people who don't know
  476. 19:56whe whether a person's Jewish or not or
  477. 19:59they tell them they're Jewish or they're
  478. 20:00working in their they're not
  479. 20:02anti-semitic not anymore maybe 50 60
  480. 20:05years ago to a certain degree on the
  481. 20:08conservative side
  482. 20:09but I encounter anti-Semitism in the
  483. 20:13refined and usually I my general will if
  484. 20:15it's a student it's more than a
  485. 20:17non-student if it's a bachelor's degree
  486. 20:18it's more than not when I get it to ma
  487. 20:21or PhD then it gets and they think
  488. 20:23they're they know something yeah they
  489. 20:26know the real Colonial story or they
  490. 20:28know that the in they have all these
  491. 20:30theories and stuff and they're very
  492. 20:32influential cuz uh if you were to take a
  493. 20:35survey of Hollywood stars or
  494. 20:39professors there tend to
  495. 20:41be very anti-semitic I think
  496. 20:45anti-israel yeah I mean we're seeing
  497. 20:47this on campus right you see these
  498. 20:50pramas protests I mean Hamas is
  499. 20:54obviously a terrorist organization but
  500. 20:58campuses like the one that you spend a
  501. 21:00lot of time on Stanford are really
  502. 21:03supporting and celebrating the violence
  503. 21:06of of a terrorist group like Hamas and
  504. 21:09and i' would say the older the
  505. 21:11generation the more pro-israel they seem
  506. 21:13to be or I would say anti-terrorism but
  507. 21:16the younger the generation the more Pro
  508. 21:18terrorism they are they are and that's
  509. 21:20because they're products of this new
  510. 21:22University and school it's not the
  511. 21:24university alone it's K through 12 but
  512. 21:27the funny thing is it's not funny I'm
  513. 21:28trying to laugh at tragedy I laugh but
  514. 21:32not get too upset about it so on October
  515. 21:367 the only news people had at Stanford
  516. 21:38were that somewhere between 1500 and
  517. 21:422,000 gunmen came in and did
  518. 21:44unimaginable things that we' never
  519. 21:46really heard in the modern
  520. 21:49world and then they there were per
  521. 21:51perhaps maybe 500 Tagalongs these were
  522. 21:54just GS and and somebody said they're
  523. 21:56killing raping mutilating Jews and they
  524. 21:58said let me get in on it and they
  525. 22:01followed and the IDF hadn't done one
  526. 22:03thing yet so what was the re what was
  527. 22:05the reaction on the campuses the IDF was
  528. 22:08trying to find out what was happening
  529. 22:10and then they were said they were going
  530. 22:11to but they hadn't done anything for
  531. 22:13four days well it didn't matter all they
  532. 22:16had was they killed Jews not that Israel
  533. 22:20was going into Gaza because they hadn't
  534. 22:22and they were they were Pro hamont and
  535. 22:24they're only from what I could tell they
  536. 22:28only disappointment was they didn't kill
  537. 22:29enough Jews if they killed 5,000 the
  538. 22:33protest would be the supporting protest
  539. 22:35would be even bigger and it took I don't
  540. 22:39think college pres should weigh in on I
  541. 22:41their colle colleges are in such a mess
  542. 22:42they shouldn't they have no business
  543. 22:44weighing in on anything but where I work
  544. 22:47in the ivy league as well or most
  545. 22:48colleges if there's a trans issue if
  546. 22:51there's
  547. 22:52a green New Deal they weigh in and it
  548. 22:55took it stand for four days before the
  549. 22:58president could say one thing about this
  550. 23:01and he was under a lot of pressure on
  551. 23:03both sides but he couldn't even say we
  552. 23:05condemn wholeheartedly what happened and
  553. 23:08so that was a tip off that window uh
  554. 23:12between the actual murdering and the
  555. 23:15Israeli effort to stop more murdering
  556. 23:18which they said was an overreaction or
  557. 23:20disproportionate but in that time frame
  558. 23:22it hadn't existed so it was just a
  559. 23:24simple question do you object to the
  560. 23:26murder and the desecration of bodies in
  561. 23:30Israel yes or no and they either say no
  562. 23:34or they'd say context contact that was
  563. 23:36the word they use so yeah it's pretty
  564. 23:39clear what do you think should be done
  565. 23:42with students on campus that are I guess
  566. 23:47vocally supporting Hamas or yelling you
  567. 23:50know from The River To The Sea I mean
  568. 23:53well we had at UCLA as we speak I think
  569. 23:55yesterday they had a pinata with who and
  570. 23:59it wasn't that they were angry at nety
  571. 24:01who was a political figure it was that
  572. 24:03he was the representation of
  573. 24:05Israel so they were yelling hit the Jew
  574. 24:08or beat the
  575. 24:10Jew so to answer your question
  576. 24:12specifically it depends I think on the
  577. 24:14legal status if you have people who are
  578. 24:18guest in the United States and they are
  579. 24:20on a student visa or they're working on
  580. 24:22a green card and they do things like
  581. 24:27occupy the booken bridge or pour paint
  582. 24:31on the white wall of the White House and
  583. 24:34their violation of our laws or they're
  584. 24:37actively aiding a known terrorist
  585. 24:40organization then they should not be
  586. 24:42here and it doesn't mean that we're
  587. 24:44deporting them we just say you asked to
  588. 24:47come over to our country and be a guest
  589. 24:49and we gave you a temporary legal
  590. 24:52document and now we don't want to do it
  591. 24:53anymore and if they say why we just say
  592. 24:56I don't have to tell you why you abused
  593. 24:58your privileges as a guest so go home
  594. 25:00and then we might want to add insult to
  595. 25:03injury if that's how they look at it by
  596. 25:04saying you are in the United States and
  597. 25:07you fled
  598. 25:08apparently Jordan or Egypt or Syria or
  599. 25:12Gaza or the West Bank because you didn't
  600. 25:14like ocracy and misogyny and sexual
  601. 25:17apartheid or whatever it was you didn't
  602. 25:19lack of freedom of expression so you
  603. 25:21come over to this country and what do
  604. 25:23you do from a safe distance you cheer on
  605. 25:26that paradigm against the only
  606. 25:29constitutional system in the so we don't
  607. 25:31want you to come it gets a little bit
  608. 25:33hairier or more difficult when they're
  609. 25:35US
  610. 25:36citizens and therefore we just have to
  611. 25:39apply the same standards that we did
  612. 25:41let's say for January 6th so take
  613. 25:45Rashida
  614. 25:46t on shortly after the October
  615. 25:507th they go into the capital wunda that
  616. 25:54was where we said that January 6 people
  617. 25:56committed felonies and they occupied it
  618. 25:58and that's not open to the public there
  619. 26:00were people who went through a broken
  620. 26:02window on January 6 that were shot and
  621. 26:05killed Ashley babbit for the
  622. 26:08misdemeanor so those people broke the
  623. 26:10law they should have all been arrested
  624. 26:12and then we said if you disrupt a
  625. 26:15congressional and there was an argument
  626. 26:18that when they went in January 6 they
  627. 26:19were discussing the election some
  628. 26:21congressional committees but there was
  629. 26:23no argument that these pal pramas
  630. 26:26demonstrators broke up Congressional
  631. 26:28hearings and then we said that Donald
  632. 26:30Trump should have in the special Council
  633. 26:34prerogative and according to the January
  634. 26:366 committee he had said go over to the
  635. 26:38capital and demonstrate although he did
  636. 26:40say demonstrate
  637. 26:42peaceably Rida Talib did not she egged
  638. 26:46River to the Sea and she was
  639. 26:47promulgating a known lie about the
  640. 26:51Islamic Jihad rocket that hit the
  641. 26:54parking lot and she said it was an IDF
  642. 26:56that hit the hospital she knew that was
  643. 26:57was false so she should be subject to
  644. 27:01whatever Donald Trump is or not and
  645. 27:04centure I don't think was enough if
  646. 27:06she's out inciting a riot inside the
  647. 27:09capital to disrupt Federal Business
  648. 27:11she's culpable so I think everybody's
  649. 27:14everybody says TOS this Administration
  650. 27:16is so weaponized the doj the FBI the CIA
  651. 27:20that and it's so asymmetrical that all
  652. 27:22we want is parody just treat the the pro
  653. 27:27Palestinian protesters the way you do
  654. 27:30other people not the May 2020 BLM antifa
  655. 27:34people which you gave a complete pass to
  656. 27:36but just from now on just do it if you
  657. 27:39just acted decisively and fairly and you
  658. 27:42just said we had 10 Palestinian students
  659. 27:46on student visas and they were
  660. 27:48disrupting a class or they were uh
  661. 27:51defacing a statue or they were you know
  662. 27:55yelling support of a terrorist and we
  663. 27:58just choose they didn't break any law
  664. 27:59maybe they did maybe they not but we we
  665. 28:01feel that we don't want to renew their
  666. 28:03their visa I think that would send a
  667. 28:05powerful message where is this double
  668. 28:08standard coming from I mean the FBI
  669. 28:10would need to get involved right I mean
  670. 28:12that's how they came after the January 6
  671. 28:14people it's it's sort of like the
  672. 28:17earlier point that our institutions are
  673. 28:20controlled by the left and they were
  674. 28:23very clever in creating a culture in
  675. 28:25Washington that there were reward
  676. 28:28culture rewards so if you were
  677. 28:30considered leftwing you were liberal in
  678. 28:33the FBI the Pentagon the
  679. 28:36doj and there was a there was a social
  680. 28:39cache that say you work for Obama or you
  681. 28:41work for Bill Clinton in a way that was
  682. 28:44not true of George W bush or Donald
  683. 28:46Trump so they created a kind of a magnet
  684. 28:51that brought a lot of people to want to
  685. 28:53work in the doj as part of a social
  686. 28:56agenda or the FBI the hierarchy and the
  687. 28:59idea was you know now it's diversity
  688. 29:02Equity inclusion and what's the result
  689. 29:04it's it's Mark Millie the chairman of
  690. 29:06the joint Chief testifying to Congress
  691. 29:08you should read we should read Professor
  692. 29:10Kendy and I wanted to explore white rage
  693. 29:12I want to explore white privilege and
  694. 29:15somebody said will you define it he
  695. 29:17couldn't could you tell
  696. 29:19us how white rage is destroying the AR
  697. 29:22he
  698. 29:23couldn't and it was very funny when I
  699. 29:26was listening to that I thought so you
  700. 29:28keep numbers on everything in the
  701. 29:30military Mr Millie and you're going to
  702. 29:31do it by race we're going to make sure
  703. 29:33that this this many majors or white or
  704. 29:36non-white but if you look at the data at
  705. 29:39Afghanistan and Iraq 76% of the Dead
  706. 29:42were white males who gravitate to combat
  707. 29:44units does anybody in the Pentagon say
  708. 29:47we have a problem we have an inordinate
  709. 29:49amount of white males and they go into
  710. 29:51combat and they diet twice their
  711. 29:53demographics in the general population
  712. 29:55no but what happens with when you take
  713. 29:57that rubric and you insult them and you
  714. 30:00don't promote them on the basis of woke
  715. 30:03criteria then they don't join and we're
  716. 30:0650,000 soldiers short you talk to people
  717. 30:08in the Pentagon or generals they they'll
  718. 30:10say oh Victor it's because of obesity
  719. 30:12it's because we have gangs it's because
  720. 30:14we have drugs we've always had that what
  721. 30:17caused this huge drop off same thing
  722. 30:20when you look at the public approval of
  723. 30:22Pentagon it's gone from about 76 down to
  724. 30:2545 you look at the public approval the
  725. 30:27FBI it's down Robert Mueller can't under
  726. 30:32oath can't remember the steel dossier
  727. 30:34doesn't know what Fusion GPS that's what
  728. 30:36appointed him then you go to James Comey
  729. 30:39I can't remember 245 times under oath
  730. 30:42then you go to his successor the third
  731. 30:44in line uh third straight director
  732. 30:47Andrew mccab lies four times to a
  733. 30:49federal and then we go to Christopher
  734. 30:51Ray so there's an that Elite in
  735. 30:55Washington that runs these bureaucracies
  736. 30:57feel that professionally it is beho
  737. 31:01because I don't think they have much of
  738. 31:03a true ideology they're just careerist
  739. 31:05but it it' be Mark Millie knows that if
  740. 31:09he announces his disgust with white rage
  741. 31:13two things are going to happen when he
  742. 31:14goes out and he's out now he will get a
  743. 31:16huge contract as a lobbyist or a defense
  744. 31:20for General Dynamics Loy northr
  745. 31:22something and more importantly the
  746. 31:25people who used to be the Watchdogs in
  747. 31:26the left that lectured us on the
  748. 31:28revolving door Elizabeth Warren they
  749. 31:31won't say a word and everybody makes the
  750. 31:33necessary adjustments so they've created
  751. 31:35a culture where careerists look at it
  752. 31:38and say you know what if I make an
  753. 31:41ontour remark and I'm on the left I get
  754. 31:44insurance if I retire I can get a job at
  755. 31:47Apple or Google or a defense contractor
  756. 31:51and then and they're just they just do
  757. 31:53it and the Republicans are sort
  758. 31:55of Clueless they don't understand the
  759. 31:58culture at all and they've let it happen
  760. 32:00you describe the Pentagon the situation
  761. 32:04with the US military this kind of victim
  762. 32:07Bingo environment are our
  763. 32:10adversaries watching America and taking
  764. 32:12advantage of it do you think this is why
  765. 32:15we're experiencing what we're
  766. 32:17experiencing around the world yes if you
  767. 32:20look at a textbook on international
  768. 32:21relations 20 years ago they always use
  769. 32:23this word interconnectiveness so what
  770. 32:26happens when Dean aeson says in 1950 so
  771. 32:30this is America's security umbrella and
  772. 32:33he forgets to put South Korea in then
  773. 32:35the north invades South Korea when April
  774. 32:39glaspie in 1990 is out is meets Saddam
  775. 32:42Hussein and he starts rambling she says
  776. 32:45well you know Saddam we don't have an
  777. 32:47interest in the territorial disputes
  778. 32:49among Arab Nations then he evades
  779. 32:52Kuwait whether that's absolutely true or
  780. 32:55not I don't know but that's the theory
  781. 32:57so when you come in with this
  782. 33:00Administration and the first thing you
  783. 33:02do is say the houis are not terrorist
  784. 33:05anymore and we're going to restore 700
  785. 33:08million to the Palestinians of which 100
  786. 33:10million we know will go to Hamas and we
  787. 33:12want to bring out Robert Mali back who
  788. 33:14was under Obama the Hamas advisor
  789. 33:17disastrous tenure and we're going to put
  790. 33:19him in charge of this crazy Iran
  791. 33:22deal and then in addition to that we're
  792. 33:25going to lift oil sanctions and give
  793. 33:27Iran $50 billion and wherewithal it's
  794. 33:30going to be translated into Hezbollah
  795. 33:33rockets and then in addition to that
  796. 33:35you're going to adopt the reopt the
  797. 33:38Obama Shia Crescent theory that you're
  798. 33:41going to get Tran and Damascus and
  799. 33:44Beirut and Hamas and you're this is
  800. 33:47going to be a crescent to the
  801. 33:49Mediterranean then you tell the Israelis
  802. 33:51and maybe the
  803. 33:52jordanians be careful because we have
  804. 33:55these people and then you tell these
  805. 33:56people be careful cuz we have and you
  806. 33:58kind of make creative tension they
  807. 33:59called it it was crazy you make Israel
  808. 34:02the moral equivalent of Iran when you do
  809. 34:05all that and then you superimpose that
  810. 34:08Paradigm on
  811. 34:11fleeing Afghanistan the problem with
  812. 34:13fleeing Afghanistan wasn't just that we
  813. 34:15left a billion doll Embassy $300 million
  814. 34:19Airbase had been refitted 50 billion in
  815. 34:21equipment we did all of that after 20
  816. 34:25years of investment and we had a pride
  817. 34:28flag flying from the embassy a gender
  818. 34:31studies program at Kabul and we had a
  819. 34:33George Floyd girl and I'm thinking at
  820. 34:36least the British when they got rid of
  821. 34:38su in India they were tough and people
  822. 34:40got they were afraid of them but we were
  823. 34:43weak and arrogant at the same time and
  824. 34:45when you Vladimir Putin looked at that
  825. 34:49and he masked troops and they asked Joe
  826. 34:51Biden what are you going to do he said
  827. 34:52depends on whether it's a major or minor
  828. 34:55event and then we had the Chinese
  829. 34:57balloon so people in the Middle East and
  830. 34:59Gaza they looked at this and they
  831. 35:01said doesn't mean they didn't Mass
  832. 35:03calculate we don't know whether they did
  833. 35:05or not it depends on how it turns out
  834. 35:07but they said H Afghanistan the Taliban
  835. 35:10ran them out
  836. 35:12and Putin just said screw you I'm going
  837. 35:15to invade Ukraine and the chines sent a
  838. 35:17balloon over to take pictures of their
  839. 35:19base with impunity and they tried to
  840. 35:20come up with every excuse they could not
  841. 35:22to shoot it
  842. 35:23down and then they're afraid of this
  843. 35:27they give Iran the money back they give
  844. 35:29us money and then you superimpose that
  845. 35:32even in Israel I I've been to Israel a
  846. 35:34lot but the last two years I was very
  847. 35:36disturbed because you'd talk to Israelis
  848. 35:38and they'd say we've never been
  849. 35:40wealthier we've never been more Leisure
  850. 35:42it's and they were true and then they
  851. 35:44say we have Gaza workers coming in and
  852. 35:47they're getting acculturated well
  853. 35:49actually we know now they were taking
  854. 35:50pictures and making maps of how to kill
  855. 35:53Jews and then you know we have the aams
  856. 35:56accord or coming back and there was a
  857. 35:58sense of we're so tired of these people
  858. 36:01hating us that finally we've been so
  859. 36:04successful that they're looking at us
  860. 36:06and they want to be like us I'm thinking
  861. 36:08no they want to kill you because they're
  862. 36:10envious and jealous that they haven't
  863. 36:12done the same thing so we lost DET turns
  864. 36:16is what I'm trying to explain and the
  865. 36:18Hamas figured they could get away with
  866. 36:21it and Iran figures they can get away
  867. 36:23with it in Hezbollah and it's deterrence
  868. 36:25is very hard to create and it's very
  869. 36:27easy to
  870. 36:29abandon we have none now I know that you
  871. 36:33know both of us are Americans we have
  872. 36:35our families here we were talking about
  873. 36:36your daughter uh my children America
  874. 36:40First what does that mean and how does
  875. 36:43that work with this idea of isolation
  876. 36:46you're hearing that movement of you know
  877. 36:48focus on what America needs don't worry
  878. 36:51about Ukraine don't worry about Israel
  879. 36:53we need to spend our money on our own
  880. 36:56country
  881. 36:57what do you think about that well I
  882. 37:00think it's a misused term by both the
  883. 37:02supporters so we
  884. 37:04have one extreme of the
  885. 37:07isolationist and they don't want to get
  886. 37:09involved with NATO they don't want to
  887. 37:11get involved with foreign a okay and
  888. 37:13then we have the
  889. 37:15interventionists sometimes neoc whatever
  890. 37:17term you want to
  891. 37:19use and in the middle I think after the
  892. 37:23Trump presidency the Republican Party
  893. 37:27tried to balance those and they said
  894. 37:30we're going to be Jacksonian Andre
  895. 37:32Jackson no better friend no worst enemy
  896. 37:36don't tread on me so are we going to
  897. 37:39dismantle the 600 bases not really are
  898. 37:43we going to get out of NATO but we're
  899. 37:44going to scream at NATO and Trump went
  900. 37:46crazy and crude and crass and said you
  901. 37:48better do this and they did they copped
  902. 37:49up aund billion dollars extra in defense
  903. 37:53do we Supply Ukraine yes do we still
  904. 37:55Supply Israel yes did we take out
  905. 37:58Soloman yes did we bomb that was all
  906. 38:01during people who said America First and
  907. 38:03that the left keep saying they're
  908. 38:05isolationist I'm saying if they're so
  909. 38:07isolationist would you have killed Sol
  910. 38:08Soloman no would you have bombed the
  911. 38:11crap out of Isis
  912. 38:13no and so would uh Donald Trump have
  913. 38:17fled Afghanistan no he would have kept
  914. 38:19bamer first base with 4,000 soldiers so
  915. 38:23I think what given every time we've had
  916. 38:26an optional war in the Middle East it
  917. 38:29hasn't turned out too well I don't know
  918. 38:31about the verdict of Iraq yet but
  919. 38:32Afghanistan turned out to be a disaster
  920. 38:35bombing Libya was a disaster I don't
  921. 38:37know what we're doing in Syria but as
  922. 38:41far as Ukraine goes I think everybody
  923. 38:43wanted to give them the ability to
  924. 38:45defend themselves but then something
  925. 38:49happened the agenda transmogrified into
  926. 38:53we're going to get Crimea and donbass
  927. 38:56back back it's not just we're going to
  928. 38:57push Putin back to where he was on
  929. 39:00February 24th of
  930. 39:032022 now we're going to give what Obama
  931. 39:06gave them Obama was President they took
  932. 39:09Crimea and dbas but the problem with
  933. 39:11this is Obama never said after 2014 it
  934. 39:15is the policy of this Administration to
  935. 39:16get Ukraine to get back Crimea and we're
  936. 39:19going to get Donald Trump as president
  937. 39:21for four years he never said we're going
  938. 39:23to give CLA back and don't Joe Biden was
  939. 39:26President he never said that that now
  940. 39:28the war is there and the agenda has
  941. 39:30expanded and the problem with the
  942. 39:32expansion
  943. 39:34is Ukraine has one quarter of the
  944. 39:37population of Russia it's got one 10% of
  945. 39:40the area and it's got excuse me 130th of
  946. 39:43the area 10% of the
  947. 39:45GDP and all of us who looked at that
  948. 39:49said I think if we give them as many
  949. 39:52weapons as we can to defend themselves
  950. 39:54maybe they can push Putin back to where
  951. 39:57he was in
  952. 39:58February and then we can negotiate maybe
  953. 40:01we can prom we can arm them to the teeth
  954. 40:03we and maybe they can have a plebis side
  955. 40:06but they're not going to get back Crimea
  956. 40:08and donbas it's just too much history
  957. 40:11and they don't have the wherewithal and
  958. 40:12everybody said you're an isolation for
  959. 40:14saying that
  960. 40:17but I wrote during the spring and summer
  961. 40:19I didn't see how they were going to
  962. 40:21break through this huge marinal line of
  963. 40:24Russian defenses given
  964. 40:27a quarter of the country of Ukraine is
  965. 40:29out it's a very mysterious thing now
  966. 40:32because I really support zinski
  967. 40:35defending himself I think we should give
  968. 40:36him the weapons to defend himself but
  969. 40:39for him to get every Russian out of pre9
  970. 40:44pre
  971. 40:4520104 he's going to do things that you
  972. 40:49can't allow he's going to try to sink
  973. 40:51the btic fleet traditional strategic
  974. 40:53logic says you should hit the fuel dump
  975. 40:56dumps in Russia he sent a couple of
  976. 40:59drone attacks against the
  977. 41:01Kremlin they have 6,500 nuclear weapons
  978. 41:05and that's that's not going to happen so
  979. 41:08and then you look at the Manpower and we
  980. 41:11had a conference at the Hoover
  981. 41:12institution I shared in March and a lot
  982. 41:14of people from Ukraine were experts they
  983. 41:17were saying you can give them all the
  984. 41:19weapons you want they don't have the
  985. 41:20Manpower because there's been 600,000
  986. 41:24dead wounded this was in lch
  987. 41:26and missing and somebody piped up and
  988. 41:29saides but they're killing two Russians
  989. 41:31for every one and he said exactly when
  990. 41:33you have four times the population
  991. 41:35that's Putin's logic to bleed them dry
  992. 41:39so I don't know what the what the
  993. 41:41solution there is I don't I don't think
  994. 41:43it's it's kind of like Verdon or
  995. 41:45Stalingrad it just keeps going and it's
  996. 41:48it's destroying lives and it has to be
  997. 41:50some settlement that doesn't reward
  998. 41:51Putin too much do you think that America
  999. 41:55and the West has violated the NATO
  1000. 41:58agreements by getting involved I don't
  1001. 42:01know if they did
1002. 42:03legally that is with the breakup of the
1003. 42:05Soviet Union there were uh side
  1004. 42:08agreements or side assurances
1005. 42:11that Ukraine would not be part of
1006. 42:14NATO and in exchange for certain
1007. 42:18concessions then Ukraine gave up its
1008. 42:20nuclear weapons that the Soviets had put
  1009. 42:22in
1010. 42:23it and there was a sense that the donbas
  1011. 42:27and Crimea were 70% Russians speaking
1012. 42:32and we forget that with the breakup of
  1013. 42:34the Soviet Union from 91 to 95 or 94
1014. 42:40Crimea was an independent country it
1015. 42:42wasn't Soviet Russian excuse me and it
1016. 42:44wasn't UK Ukraine took it first before
1017. 42:47Russia took it from Ukraine Ukraine took
  1018. 42:49it from Crimea from itself so it's a
1019. 42:53very complicated history and Americans
1020. 42:56don't realize that the whole western
1021. 42:58part of Ukraine maybe a third of it was
1022. 43:01polish for a thousand years it was Roman
1023. 43:04Catholic polish Joseph Stalin with
  1024. 43:07Hitler invaded September 2nd verse 2nd
1025. 43:11of the Germans in 1939 Stalin came in
1026. 43:14three weeks later they took that and
1027. 43:16they gave it to Ukraine and then after
1028. 43:18the war we said would you please give
1029. 43:20back now that we won give back to the
1030. 43:23Polish people and Stalin said no Ukraine
1031. 43:26is part of the Soviet Union if Poland
1032. 43:29wants some territory take it from the
1033. 43:30Germans so they took Prussia from them
1034. 43:34so that whole area has
1035. 43:37a Byzantine mosaic and Americans are
  1036. 43:41just not
  1037. 43:43equipped geographically intellectually
1038. 43:45historically to come in and say we're
1039. 43:48going to give Mr zalinski and the
1040. 43:52ukrainians and we're going to allow them
1041. 43:53to fight and bleed white so they can get
  1042. 43:55back these two disputed areas it's it's
1043. 43:58not the other thing that bothers me
  1044. 44:00about
  1045. 44:01Ukraine is I look at what we're saying
  1046. 44:04about
  1047. 44:05Israel
1048. 44:06so Israel is supposed to be
1049. 44:09proportionate do we ever say to Ukraine
1050. 44:12now listen Mr zalinski we've given you
  1051. 44:14himars we've given you Abrams we've
  1052. 44:16given you we're going to give you f-15s
1053. 44:18we've given you Jalin but we want you to
1054. 44:21respond to each Russian attack with a
1055. 44:24commiserate response and then we say to
  1056. 44:27them we're kind of worried because
1057. 44:28you've killed two Russians for every
  1058. 44:30Ukrainian that's dispropor no and we
1059. 44:33don't say to Mr zalinski you know you
1060. 44:36hit a bridge in Crimea and you hit a big
1061. 44:39Highway in the dome bass did you notify
1062. 44:41the civilians around there did you drop
1063. 44:43leaflets did you text their phones no
1064. 44:46and then we said or to turn it the other
1065. 44:49way what if Joe Biden said to Netanyahu
1066. 44:54BB if you wanted to declare martial law
1067. 44:57and suspend election that's fine with us
1068. 44:59you might have to do it that would be
  1069. 45:01Unthinkable that's what we did with
1070. 45:03zalinski he he hasn't had election and
1071. 45:05he enacted martial law so we have this
1072. 45:08disproportionate attitude that all these
1073. 45:11people on the left are saying be
1074. 45:12disproportionate arm them to the teeth
1075. 45:14kill as many damn Russians you can don't
1076. 45:17worry when they kill civilians you you
  1077. 45:19reply but not with
  1078. 45:22Israel so I don't know why that is I
1079. 45:25think he it's interesting that you bring
1080. 45:27up the the Israel and Ukraine bucket
1081. 45:31that has been created I find that
1082. 45:33incredibly confusing because like you
1083. 45:35say on the one hand they want it to be
1084. 45:36within the same bucket and by the way
1085. 45:38both the left and the right seems to be
1086. 45:40doing it like putting them in the same
  1087. 45:41bucket um it's obviously different
1088. 45:43regions but maybe it's the timing and
1089. 45:46how do you explain that and how can you
1090. 45:49just you being the medicine for the mind
1091. 45:51that I think that you are can you just
1092. 45:53help me unentangled this myth that it's
1093. 45:56in the same bucket should it be in the
1094. 45:58same bucket Israel and Ukraine no more
1095. 46:00than South Korea Aid or NATO Aid and the
1096. 46:04reason is that the supporters of the war
  1097. 46:07of the unlimited blank
1098. 46:10check understand now that what they told
1099. 46:13us and what people warned them about is
1100. 46:15not going to happen in other words that
  1101. 46:19was such a courageous defense of
1102. 46:22Kiev that they translated that into a
1103. 46:27fluid war of maneuver and momentum and
1104. 46:30they were going to go right and be armed
1105. 46:32and onto Moscow almost and expel the
1106. 46:34Russians and people tried to say to them
1107. 46:37the disparity not only in equipment but
  1108. 46:41historically if you look
  1109. 46:43at the
1110. 46:451905 uh Japanese Russian war if you look
1111. 46:48at the 1922 invasion of Poland by the
1112. 46:51Russians if you look at the 1939
1113. 46:53invasion of Poland if you look at the
1114. 46:561939 invasion of Finland the Russian
1115. 46:59army is not very good when it goes
  1116. 47:01outside its borders it's no morale it's
1117. 47:05it's not an Imperial Army contrary to
1118. 47:08what people say you fight it right next
1119. 47:10to its borders and area that it it's
1120. 47:14it's unconquerable so once you were in
1121. 47:16Kiev and it was trying to be a a forward
1122. 47:19expeditionary Army it was easy to say
1123. 47:22they're incompetent but now the war is
1124. 47:23back right on the border and it's going
1125. 47:26to be very very hard to get the Russians
1126. 47:28out and everybody knows that and they
1127. 47:33know that the spring offensive failed
  1128. 47:35the summer offensive failed they've
1129. 47:36spent more money actually than the
1130. 47:38history of all the money we've given to
1131. 47:39Israel so now they know that if you look
1132. 47:42at the polls people want a negotiated
  1133. 47:45settlement they don't want to reward
1134. 47:47Putin they don't know how you would have
  1135. 47:48a negotiated settlement without
1136. 47:50rewarding but they want to find a way so
1137. 47:52they say and so uh the supporters on the
1138. 47:57left or right are thinking if we have
  1139. 47:59this separate the American people it'll
1140. 48:00be a killer back in my district so I
  1141. 48:03don't want to vote for another 50 60
1142. 48:06billion dollars on my district but 65%
1143. 48:10of the American people want to help
1144. 48:11Israel so we'll just glue them together
  1145. 48:14and we'll say that anybody who doesn't
1146. 48:16vote for it won't support Israel of
1147. 48:19course the people who want to separate
1148. 48:20say you're using the Israelis as guinea
1149. 48:22pigs to get your Ukraine through and
  1150. 48:25where we are and it's it's confounded by
1151. 48:29the fact that it's not an easily
  1152. 48:31discernable ideological because there's
1153. 48:33people on the ID ideological issue
  1154. 48:36because there's Hawks of Republicans and
1155. 48:40Democrat Le and they both want to
1156. 48:42combine that what is your response to
1157. 48:46the criticism that America is funding
1158. 48:49both sides of the war in Israel in
  1159. 48:53particular well
1160. 48:57we do that a lot but when you look at
  1161. 49:00what we're doing so I'll give you a
1162. 49:03couple of examples off the top of my so
1163. 49:06Anthony blinkin is very worried right
1164. 49:09when the IDF is going to move first week
1165. 49:12he's going to go over there and he's
1166. 49:14going to talk to the jordanians and the
1167. 49:16West Bank and Egypt and they have
1168. 49:20threatened either that at some future
1169. 49:22date they might intervene or this and
  1170. 49:24you think wait a minute they won't even
  1171. 49:27meet with
  1172. 49:29blinken they won't even meet with
1173. 49:31blinkin and he was willing to promate
1174. 49:33the lie that the hospital had been hit
1175. 49:34by the Israelis because he said that all
1176. 49:36the American embassies in the region
1177. 49:37should lower their flags half MKS and
  1178. 49:40that still didn't appease these people
1179. 49:42then you start to look at their a
1180. 49:44billion and a half dollars to the
  1181. 49:45Egyptians a billion dollars to the
  1182. 49:48jordanians 700 million of the
1183. 49:49Palestinians you think well at least
1184. 49:52they didn't fund hezb then you start to
1185. 49:54look at the money we gave B root that
1186. 49:55was fluid and seeped into his especially
1187. 49:58with intelligence that was basically we
1188. 50:01were giving the Lebanese intelligence
1189. 50:04that was detrimental to Israel so yeah
  1190. 50:06we were funding their
  1191. 50:09enemies and I don't know why we're doing
1192. 50:12that other than I know what the reason
1193. 50:14that people say they're doing that when
1194. 50:16you talk to them about I've talked to
1195. 50:18people about it and they'll say this is
  1196. 50:20good for
1197. 50:21Israel yes that's what they say because
1198. 50:24we're making friends with them and
1199. 50:26therefore we have leverage on them and
1200. 50:29therefore we tell them uh to go easy on
  1201. 50:33Israel but I've never I've never seen
1202. 50:34any evidence of that but that's what
1203. 50:36they say to that's why we're doing it so
1204. 50:38are the surrounding countries supposedly
1205. 50:41going to go easy on Israel uh I don't
1206. 50:44think they have I look at the
  1207. 50:46surrounding countries and I see that
  1208. 50:50Gaza killed 1100 Israelis I look at the
1209. 50:54Lebanese and they're ready to kill more
  1210. 50:57Israelis and the jordanians don't like
  1211. 51:00the Israelis and the Egyptians don't
1212. 51:02want to help out in Gaza so I don't
1213. 51:04really see that the money was well spent
1214. 51:07I think the opposite might be true for
1215. 51:09just once I would like to see an
1216. 51:10American Administration say to all these
1217. 51:15countries I'm not going to give you
  1218. 51:16anything and if you don't like us that's
1219. 51:18fine and we're going to pump more oil
1220. 51:20and natural gas and coal than you have
1221. 51:23and we don't need you and as far as the
1222. 51:25Chinese if you send another balloon over
1223. 51:27we're going to blow it up just and if
1224. 51:29Iran you hit another American base we're
  1225. 51:30going to retaliate disproportionately
1226. 51:33and I would think that if you were to do
1227. 51:35that you would have peace and rather
1228. 51:38than the chaos you have today it's kind
  1229. 51:41of
1230. 51:41counterintuitive if we tell Netanyahu
  1231. 51:45and the
1232. 51:46Israelis that we want them pause for
1233. 51:49three days or whatever and then we're
1234. 51:50going to try of course to have a
1235. 51:53ceasefire and then Hezbollah is going to
1236. 51:55take the hostages and say how many
1237. 51:58hostages are worth how many days is a
1238. 52:01hostage worth one day and they're going
1239. 52:03to meter them out then all of that's for
1240. 52:05nothing I mean all the the Israelis that
1241. 52:08were killed and all the people killed
1242. 52:11trying to stop Hamas it's just going to
1243. 52:14go back to square one however if you
1244. 52:17just say to the Israelis I'm going to
1245. 52:20hold off the pressure on you any way I
1246. 52:22can I I'm going to try to give you four
1247. 52:24or five weeks before World opinion makes
1248. 52:26it impossible so go destroy Hamas I
  1249. 52:30don't think Iran will intervene I don't
1250. 52:32think Hezbollah will intervene because
1251. 52:34Hezbollah will look at what happened to
1252. 52:36Hamas and they said this is what
1253. 52:38happened to us in 2006 we don't want to
1254. 52:41do it again if you call off the
1255. 52:44Israelis and they stop and Hamas comes
1256. 52:48out of the tunnels and said we with st
1257. 52:50the greatest Israeli and we killed more
1258. 52:52Jews in one day since the Holocaust we
1259. 52:55we killed more Jews than all you Arab
1260. 52:57countries have done since the Y Kipper
1261. 52:59War We Are The Killers of Jews Hezbollah
  1262. 53:02will attack because they'll think
1263. 53:05wow has a bunch of paramilitaries went
1264. 53:09in and killed 1100 Jews and Israel
1265. 53:12didn't get rid of them they didn't do
1266. 53:14anything they just went in there and
  1267. 53:15they
1268. 53:16quit if we send 100,000 Rockets maybe
1269. 53:19they'll do the same thing so it's
1270. 53:22everybody has the opposite view that
  1271. 53:24they have to show
1272. 53:26restraint and let these killers survive
1273. 53:28and then Hezbollah will say well they
1274. 53:31were magnanimous and will we pay that in
  1275. 53:33kind rather than they're weak and we're
1276. 53:35going to beay that with more war and I
  1277. 53:37think it's unfortunately given human
  1278. 53:39nature it's the latter imagine that
1279. 53:42peace through strength yeah right
1280. 53:45vegetus the old Roman strategist if you
1281. 53:47want peace prepare for war you made a
  1282. 53:50remark about proportionate
1283. 53:53response what does that mean
1284. 53:55what is the expectation at War when it
1285. 53:59comes to it seems like there is this
1286. 54:02like these graphs and numbers and where
1287. 54:06is it coming from can we just try to get
  1288. 54:08into the mind of of I don't know if it's
1289. 54:11the leftist or or or the
1290. 54:14uneducated where is this idea that when
1291. 54:17you're at War you have to count a
1292. 54:20proportionate response why is that even
  1293. 54:22a goal it's no where historically
1294. 54:26documented may put it that way I know of
1295. 54:28no war that the Victoria side was
1296. 54:31proportionate the whole point of war is
  1297. 54:33to be
1298. 54:35disproportionate no one said on December
1299. 54:388th they took out 2500 Americans so
1300. 54:42we're going to go bomb Yokohama and take
1301. 54:45out seven battleships of the Imperial
  1302. 54:47Fleet and kill 20 and we're going to
1303. 54:49quit nobody would think and then that
1304. 54:52FDR would give a lecture to Congress and
1305. 54:54say say I want to end the cycle of
1306. 54:56violence no he said just the
1307. 55:00opposite and no one would say if the
1308. 55:03Israelis said okay we're going to send
1309. 55:06some paramilitaries in and we will kill
1310. 55:101100 Gau and civilians and we'll rape
1311. 55:14them mutilate them behead them burn them
1312. 55:16and then we'll be proportionate no that
  1313. 55:18would just be a that would ensure a
1314. 55:20cycle of violence the whole purpose of
1315. 55:22war is to use more Force
1316. 55:25to defeat humiliate the enemy so they do
1317. 55:28you reestablish deter all war is is if
  1318. 55:32this is a power and that's a power and
1319. 55:34this a power what prevents what makes
1320. 55:37War break out is that guy doesn't know
1321. 55:39what that guy's power is and that guy
1322. 55:41doesn't so when we get out of
1323. 55:43Afghanistan or we let a Chinese balloon
1324. 55:46or we do this woke military then these
  1325. 55:48Powers say I don't know how strong the
1326. 55:51United States is anymore I'm going to
1327. 55:53take a chance and when Israel in Gaza
1328. 55:56people and they talk about Perpetual
  1329. 55:58peace and homas I don't know if hell
1330. 56:00strong when you make it very clear what
1331. 56:04you're what you have and what you're
1332. 56:05capable nobody has any misunderstanding
1333. 56:08so war is unfortunately the laboratory
  1334. 56:10experiment of which shouldn't have had
1335. 56:12to occur right now everybody knows that
1336. 56:15Israel is stronger than its neighbors
1337. 56:17and you don't screw with it and you have
  1338. 56:19peace but if somebody has a
1339. 56:22misinterpretation maybe Israel gave the
1340. 56:24wrong signal do we force them to same
1341. 56:26thing with us those two carrier groups
1342. 56:29there have enough power to destroy Iran
  1343. 56:33and Hezbollah in a week and I don't mean
  1344. 56:37kill everybody I mean make them
  1345. 56:39privil but I don't think Hezbollah Iran
1346. 56:42believes that and that is what causes a
1347. 56:45war because we did not show them the
1348. 56:49wages of aggression against the stronger
1349. 56:51power weaker powers that feel they can
  1350. 56:54attack a stronger power they develop
1351. 56:58contempt because they say to them if I
1352. 57:00had Israel's power and Israel came into
  1353. 57:02my country and killed 1100 of them I
1354. 57:05would destroy them and the fact that
1355. 57:06they don't destroy them and they have
  1356. 57:08all that power means they're decadent
1357. 57:10that's how they look at things
  1358. 57:11unfortunately I wish it weren't true and
1359. 57:14so uh war is kind of a breakdown in
1360. 57:18knowledge of it's like all of us in this
  1361. 57:20room don't like each other and would I
1362. 57:24go over and hit somebody not unless I
1363. 57:26knew that that guy was not a black belt
  1364. 57:28and that guy doesn't have a Glock and
  1365. 57:30that person doesn't have a knife I'd be
1366. 57:32stupid to do that so once they tell me
1367. 57:35of their relative strength and I gauge
1368. 57:37it against mine then there's peace and
1369. 57:40then we can get along but when you don't
  1370. 57:43know what a a country's wherewithal is
  1371. 57:45or what they're capable of and that's
  1372. 57:47what's happened we've lost deterrence
1373. 57:48and so has the Israelis and that's
1374. 57:52that's very dangerous unfortunately and
1375. 57:54I don't know what's going to come of it
1376. 57:57but they have to demonstrate the what
1377. 58:00happens to you when you go in and kill
1378. 58:02more Jews on any one given day since the
1379. 58:06Holocaust and William Duma Sherman who
1380. 58:10was one of the great minds in military
1381. 58:12history went into Georgia it was very
  1382. 58:15similar what's happening the
1383. 58:17Confederates had said that we are a
1384. 58:19marshal culture we are Cavaliers we are
1385. 58:23we are Scotch Irish we have a you guys
1386. 58:25are just a mly bunch of immigrants so
1387. 58:28Sherman took a huge northern Army and he
1388. 58:30went in there and they were
1389. 58:32midwesterners farmers they were very
  1390. 58:34tough people Northerners they'd never
  1391. 58:36seen a black person before they've never
1392. 58:38seen a Confederate but he made this
1393. 58:40marvelous Armory he went all the way
1394. 58:42from Tennessee into Atlanta and then he
1395. 58:44took the city it's controversial how it
  1396. 58:47burned down and
1397. 58:50everybody said how dare you come in here
1398. 58:54and and how dare you get occupy Atlanta
1399. 58:57it burned how dare you do this and now
  1400. 58:59you're burning plantations you're trying
1401. 59:01to and he said wait a minute you started
1402. 59:04the war you were killing people in
1403. 59:06Missouri and Kentucky you bushwacked us
  1404. 59:10and I finally we got kind so we're
1405. 59:11coming in here and we're going to raise
  1406. 59:13your city so if you're such a marshal
1407. 59:15culture come out and fight us because
1408. 59:17that's what you told us that you were
1409. 59:19the tougher people here we are and it
1410. 59:21was just devastating for the Confederate
1411. 59:23psyche cuz they were terrified of him
1412. 59:26and so then he went to Atlanta then he
1413. 59:28went to Savannah then he went to Grant
1414. 59:30in Virginia and the war was over he
1415. 59:32completely exposed the charade or the
1416. 59:36veneer and the same thing is true what
1417. 59:39Israel is trying to do is say to the
1418. 59:42Arab world you you keep bragging that
1419. 59:45you're a cult of death and that we are
1420. 59:47weak because we believe in life so you
1421. 59:49come in in time of Peace in a holiday
1422. 59:53early in the morning during a concert
1423. 59:55and you butcher people in a premodern
1424. 59:58fashion you think it's really neat you
1425. 59:59tape it you call your mom and say I
1426. 1:00:01killed two Jews people greet us on the
1427. 1:00:04street you take a Jewish corpse and you
1428. 1:00:06spit out you think that's really neat
1429. 1:00:08we're going to show you the wages of
  1430. 1:00:10that we're going to go in and we're
1431. 1:00:12going to kill every single person that
1432. 1:00:14did that but we're going to challenge
1433. 1:00:15you to come out and now fight and get it
1434. 1:00:17over with and they're saying just like
1435. 1:00:20the Confederate oh you can't do that
  1436. 1:00:22this is
  1437. 1:00:23unfair and
1438. 1:00:25if they were to adopt the Sherman wrote
1439. 1:00:27a great letter both to John B Hood and
1440. 1:00:29the mayor of Atlanta he said how dare
1441. 1:00:31you start a war kill people brag about
  1442. 1:00:36how you're a marshal culture and we're
  1443. 1:00:38weak and we're mly and we're industrial
1444. 1:00:41and we don't have the pure martial and
  1445. 1:00:43now we're here and all you're doing is
1446. 1:00:45simpering and calling us begging us not
1447. 1:00:49to do what you know is going to happen
1448. 1:00:51and he said you're despicable he said
  1449. 1:00:53that and I think there's something to
  1450. 1:00:55that with Hamas I think that's why a 65%
1451. 1:00:59of the American people don't believe and
1452. 1:01:03proportionality they feel that if
1453. 1:01:05they're not disproportionate as the
1454. 1:01:07leader of Hamas said in Beirut they're
1455. 1:01:09going to do it once seven 100 a million
1456. 1:01:13times they'll keep doing it yeah until
1457. 1:01:15they have to they have to learn that if
1458. 1:01:17you do that it's going to be synonymous
1459. 1:01:20with your destruction and once they
1460. 1:01:22learn that maybe they will opt for a
  1461. 1:01:26different agenda maybe they won't but
1462. 1:01:29they have to know that if anytime they
1463. 1:01:30don't these are the wages of what they
1464. 1:01:32did we haven't had a Civil War uh north
1465. 1:01:35and south and everybody said it would be
  1466. 1:01:38Perpetual
1467. 1:01:39violence and Sherman if you read what
1468. 1:01:41Sherman and Grant said there won't be
  1469. 1:01:43Perpetual
1470. 1:01:44violence and you know I asked my father
  1471. 1:01:48once he was on a b29 crew 40 missions
1472. 1:01:50over Japan and occupied Korea during
  1473. 1:01:53World War II and I said
1474. 1:01:55said well after they dropped the atomic
  1475. 1:01:57bombs Japan surrendered on September 2nd
1476. 1:02:001945 what did you do then you go home he
1477. 1:02:02said no we flew into Japan two days
1478. 1:02:05later I said are you serious you landed
1479. 1:02:07on a Japanese Runway he said yes and I
1480. 1:02:10said well there there must have been
1481. 1:02:12snipers and terrorists he said no I said
1482. 1:02:16well what was the reaction he said they
1483. 1:02:18came out and gave us tea and flowers I
1484. 1:02:20said the people you bombed you destroyed
  1485. 1:02:2275% of the civilian
1486. 1:02:25uh infrastructure of the Japanese cities
1487. 1:02:27he said yes and I said' what was your
1488. 1:02:29orders the orders were when we touched
1489. 1:02:31down if we were fired on to go right
1490. 1:02:34back up and circle around and bomb the
  1491. 1:02:37city
1492. 1:02:39and this all sounds brodo or Neanderthal
1493. 1:02:44but the problem we have in a modern
1494. 1:02:46postmodern Society is the people who act
  1495. 1:02:50like they're empathetic and they're
1496. 1:02:51moral or immoral and they get people
1497. 1:02:54killed and the people who just say that
1498. 1:02:56I wish human nature was not this way
  1499. 1:02:59it's depressing but it's not changing
  1500. 1:03:01and there's certain rules of human
1501. 1:03:03nature and you have to to instruct
1502. 1:03:06people what will be the consequences
1503. 1:03:08whether it's a smash and grab guy in San
1504. 1:03:10Francisco or carjacker in Chicago there
1505. 1:03:13has to be consequences and too often
  1506. 1:03:16people
1507. 1:03:18interpret generosity and magnam minity
1508. 1:03:21is weakness to be exploited not to be
  1509. 1:03:23reciprocated in kind and that's what
1510. 1:03:25Israel is dealing with and when you add
1511. 1:03:28all the things we've talked about of the
  1512. 1:03:30modern University and it's an an
  1513. 1:03:33impossible situation because it's
1514. 1:03:35basically saying hey everybody this is
1515. 1:03:38human nature these people are acting in
  1516. 1:03:40privil fashion we're and we're not
  1517. 1:03:45practicing genocide and no it's not
  1518. 1:03:47apartheid and no we're not colonialist
1519. 1:03:49and no they're not refugees come on and
1520. 1:03:52it it I get very upset about about it
1521. 1:03:54because I talk to every day somebody
1522. 1:03:56who's Jewish or Israeli writes me or
1523. 1:03:58calls me talks and it's the same thing
1524. 1:04:02it's very sad Professor Hansen why don't
1525. 1:04:05you write about this I said you write
  1526. 1:04:07yes we're telling everybody I said why
1527. 1:04:09do you tell everybody just what we're
  1528. 1:04:11telling you doesn't the world
1529. 1:04:14see and it has kind of the the aura of
  1530. 1:04:181939 1940 41 and it's it's same old
1531. 1:04:23thing and people get very exasperated
1532. 1:04:25because if you tell an Israeli or a Jew
1533. 1:04:28Jewish person in the United States
1534. 1:04:31look you just got to do what you got to
1535. 1:04:33do and you can't worry about the
1536. 1:04:36consequences and if that means for a
1537. 1:04:38hundred years Israel is this Garrison
1538. 1:04:40State you're going to be have to be that
1539. 1:04:42way if you that means no guest workers
  1540. 1:04:45in
1541. 1:04:46Gaza whatever it takes but you're going
  1542. 1:04:49to have to demonstrate that it's a very
1543. 1:04:51dangerous thing to go into Israel and
1544. 1:04:54kill a Jewish mother and if they do it
1545. 1:04:57for the next 100 years it's going to be
1546. 1:04:59a terrible retribution and then I think
1547. 1:05:01in the universities are people are going
1548. 1:05:03to have to say that if
1549. 1:05:04you tear down posters and you C you call
1550. 1:05:08for the genocide there's going to be
1551. 1:05:09repercussions and that maybe the
1552. 1:05:11university has to have a look at maybe
1553. 1:05:13we as American people can say you know
1554. 1:05:15what we made a deal with all your
1555. 1:05:18universities you told us that you were
  1556. 1:05:20going to give a general inductive
  1557. 1:05:22empirical education to 50% % of the
1558. 1:05:24population and you said that you were
1559. 1:05:26going to train Professionals in science
  1560. 1:05:29medicine disinterested empirical science
1561. 1:05:32and law school and business school and
1562. 1:05:35they were going to be so preeminent that
1563. 1:05:37we would be preeminent as a country and
1564. 1:05:39you kept your bargain for a while and
  1565. 1:05:42now you didn't you're deductive you're
  1566. 1:05:45mediocre you're not using mccratic our
1567. 1:05:47science is polluted uh you can't talk
  1568. 1:05:50about climate change you can't talk
  1569. 1:05:52about a quarantine you can't talk about
1570. 1:05:54Co you can't talk about anything without
1571. 1:05:56you politicizing it and you don't and
1572. 1:05:58the kids that you graduate from Harvard
  1573. 1:05:59NE don't know anything so we're going
1574. 1:06:01you broke the deal so we're going to
1575. 1:06:03renig ourselves and that means no more
  1576. 1:06:05student loans 1.9 trillion you have a$
1577. 1:06:0960 billion endowment Harvard you back
1578. 1:06:12them maybe if you backed your own loans
1579. 1:06:14you would get rid of the studies classes
1580. 1:06:17and you would tell kids to graduate four
1581. 1:06:19years and get a job and pay you back but
1582. 1:06:21no moral hazard for you now out and then
1583. 1:06:24you could say to Stanford and all of
1584. 1:06:26them you have $40 billion in endowment
  1585. 1:06:30you're getting $3 billion a year and
1586. 1:06:32tax-free income that was based on what
1587. 1:06:34you said you were going to do you didn't
1588. 1:06:35do it kids are not educated your
1589. 1:06:38professional schools are warped so you
1590. 1:06:41just pay income tax on that you're going
  1591. 1:06:43to owe us a billion and a half dollar I
1592. 1:06:45don't think they would have hired 73 di
1593. 1:06:48you know what I mean with that bite out
1594. 1:06:50of them and then I think we could tell
1595. 1:06:52these faculty members you know when the
  1596. 1:06:54Cornell faculty member says I was
1597. 1:06:55exhilarated you heard that when I heard
1598. 1:06:58Jews were being killed Etc I could go
1599. 1:07:00all day on those you can just say do you
1600. 1:07:03have tenure do you have tenure do you
1601. 1:07:05nobody has tenure just teachers and
1602. 1:07:07professors so we should just say to them
  1603. 1:07:10no more tenure five-year contracts you
1604. 1:07:12have to sign on the dollar line you're
1605. 1:07:14going to write this many articles or
1606. 1:07:15books or this teaching evaluation if you
1607. 1:07:17don't do it you're out and I think they
1608. 1:07:19would pay attention give them a lifetime
1609. 1:07:22employment and you get a Professor you
1610. 1:07:25know going out in Los Angeles and maybe
1611. 1:07:27hitting a Jewish guy and killing him and
1612. 1:07:29that may may have happened recently so I
1613. 1:07:32I I think we have ways to to restore
1614. 1:07:36deterrence both militarily and socially
  1615. 1:07:38and culturally I have a really hard
1616. 1:07:41question yeah so you talked about what
1617. 1:07:43you hope is going to happen what you
  1618. 1:07:45believe should
1619. 1:07:47happen uh you talked about what you're
1620. 1:07:49worried about what do you think is going
1621. 1:07:52to happen what do I think is going to
1622. 1:07:55happen I think Israel is going to get to
  1623. 1:07:59the point where they
1624. 1:08:02see that success is possible in
  1625. 1:08:05destroying Hamas and I think they're
1626. 1:08:08going to destroy 75% of the tunnels and
1627. 1:08:11I think they're going to disrupt or kill
1628. 1:08:1450 or 60% of the H Hamas hierarchy and
  1629. 1:08:18they're going to more importantly I
1630. 1:08:20think they already have found a paradigm
1631. 1:08:23how to do it how to deal with the
1632. 1:08:25tunnels and the Hamas people and right
1633. 1:08:28at the point of Victory they're going to
1634. 1:08:29be stopped by this Administration and I
1635. 1:08:33think they're going to put be under
  1636. 1:08:34enormous pressure I think they're going
  1637. 1:08:36to really pressure Netanyahu I don't
1638. 1:08:39know if he'll be in charge in a year and
  1639. 1:08:42I think
1640. 1:08:44uh it will buy what the damage they did
1641. 1:08:47will buy them five to 10 years maybe
1642. 1:08:50five and then Hamas will come out of the
1643. 1:08:53tunnels and they'll say and then the PA
1644. 1:08:55and everybody will say they're not going
1645. 1:08:57to do this anymore and they're going to
1646. 1:08:59rebuild they're going to pour all the
1647. 1:09:01billions of dollars the United States
  1648. 1:09:02will probably take I don't know two or
1649. 1:09:04300,000 people from Gaza these protests
1650. 1:09:07will get bigger and bigger the
  1651. 1:09:09university yeah that's what I'm worried
  1652. 1:09:11about I think that's likely what do you
1653. 1:09:13think is going to happen to us here in
1654. 1:09:16the United States over the last three
  1655. 1:09:18years 8 million illegal immigrants came
  1656. 1:09:20into the us we don't know where they're
1657. 1:09:22from we know what they're up to I know
1658. 1:09:26probably not good things what do you
1659. 1:09:28think when I see that I always use this
1660. 1:09:32Latin phrase quono to who did it to to
1661. 1:09:34whom did it benefit so when I see Mr
1662. 1:09:37mayorcas he will not answer a question
1663. 1:09:39he just lies Karin John Pierre so what
1664. 1:09:42is the purpose of this and then I think
1665. 1:09:45the leftist are doing this and so what
1666. 1:09:47is the leftist mind how does it operate
1667. 1:09:49it always operates on the principle
1668. 1:09:51projection whatever it feels untr about
1669. 1:09:54it projects on to somebody else so they
  1670. 1:09:57know what they're doing they're trying
  1671. 1:09:58to con they're trying to create a every
1672. 1:10:02year two cities the size of San
  1673. 1:10:04Francisco of illegal alien they've l in
1674. 1:10:088 million and so they know what they're
1675. 1:10:11doing so what they do is say you believe
1676. 1:10:12in the great replacement you write
1677. 1:10:14people how dare you say that but they
1678. 1:10:16write books called de demography is
1679. 1:10:18Destiny and the new Democratic majority
1680. 1:10:21so they're bringing in people who they
1681. 1:10:23feel are the poorest people in the world
1682. 1:10:26and they need Federal support and larger
  1683. 1:10:29bureaucracy and a greater Progressive
1684. 1:10:31agenda and as far as the other there's a
1685. 1:10:35got to remember about this new
1686. 1:10:36Progressive group jacoban group they
  1687. 1:10:38have
1688. 1:10:39a they have a sense of nealis to them
1689. 1:10:43just I don't know what it is they like
  1690. 1:10:45to screw it's a George Soro screw things
1691. 1:10:47up they like the idea that San Francisco
1692. 1:10:50is really hurting middle class people
1693. 1:10:53they like the idea that you might have
1694. 1:10:55to be careful in the subway they like
1695. 1:10:58the idea that uh you can go in and steal
1696. 1:11:02something and that makes you know it
1697. 1:11:04sounds psychotic honestly it is
1698. 1:11:05psychotic yeah and if you read what they
  1699. 1:11:07say is well we're not we're going to
  1700. 1:11:10excuse unless they steal $950 because a
1701. 1:11:14bunch of wealthy white people made laws
  1702. 1:11:16that says you can't steal a candy bar
  1703. 1:11:18because they don't steal candy bars
1704. 1:11:20because they don't steal it they made
1705. 1:11:21poor people who have to steal it so it's
  1706. 1:11:23not really a crime that's their whole
1707. 1:11:25legal Theory and so they they have that
1708. 1:11:28streak so when they see these people
1709. 1:11:30coming in they're saying well maybe now
1710. 1:11:34Mr middle class American's going to have
1711. 1:11:36a little fear in his life that like they
1712. 1:11:38dispossessed in the bario or the ghetto
1713. 1:11:40and so and that that that's that
1714. 1:11:42explains some of it besides the desire
1715. 1:11:44for new constituents because their their
1716. 1:11:46agenda is not appealing to people so
1717. 1:11:49they bring in more and more people and I
  1718. 1:11:52don't know what's going to happen but I
1719. 1:11:54know one thing of all I was uh curious
1720. 1:11:57about that question you just asked
1721. 1:11:58because it it occurred to me a lot so I
  1722. 1:12:01went
1723. 1:12:02back about a month ago and I looked at
1724. 1:12:04all the things Donald Trump had done
1725. 1:12:07every one of them that were
  1726. 1:12:09controversial his appointments cabanag
1727. 1:12:13gorsage moving the embassy to Jerusalem
1728. 1:12:17but the one that got people the angriest
1729. 1:12:19was the travel ban on terrorist
1730. 1:12:22countries because he said that I think
1731. 1:12:24it was eight or nine countries it wasn't
1732. 1:12:26just Arab countries but there were a lot
  1733. 1:12:28of Arab countries and I and then I
1734. 1:12:29started to read about what the New York
1735. 1:12:31Times Washington Post and they were so
1736. 1:12:34angry that Elites in the Middle East
1737. 1:12:37could not come over for visiting
  1738. 1:12:39professorships or Guggenheim fellowships
1739. 1:12:42and have that perch in this very
1740. 1:12:44affluent country and speak and yell and
1741. 1:12:47trash the United States and you get the
1742. 1:12:50impression that they got so angry
  1743. 1:12:52because that's what they really like
1744. 1:12:54they like the idea the left to bring in
1745. 1:12:56all the people hate America and
1746. 1:12:58subsidize them and then say well
  1747. 1:13:01Professor exit of middle study a
  1748. 1:13:04visiting Professor endowed Professor
1749. 1:13:05whatever at Columbia says this and he's
1750. 1:13:08the expert on the middle so that would
  1751. 1:13:10got him very angry and so there's a
1752. 1:13:12nalism there they like to bring in
1753. 1:13:14people that don't like America or cause
1754. 1:13:17trouble or America or you don't know
1755. 1:13:18what they're going to do they just feel
1756. 1:13:20that that's kind of payback for being
  1757. 1:13:22bgeo
1758. 1:13:24and and middle class oh you follow the
1759. 1:13:26rules deal with this yeah oh you're on
  1760. 1:13:29the subway and it's all of a sudden
  1761. 1:13:31dangerous oh poor baby that's their
1762. 1:13:33attitude there really is I thought you
1763. 1:13:35were going to say also Donald Trump's uh
  1764. 1:13:38demand that we build a wall that's
1765. 1:13:40another thing that really upset them it
  1766. 1:13:42was
1767. 1:13:43too it was too simple you know so Gavin
1768. 1:13:46Newsome goes over to China and he's
1769. 1:13:48sitting on this wall that's so great and
1770. 1:13:50and you know walls are supposedly don't
1771. 1:13:53work work and then I drive along Los
  1772. 1:13:56Angeles I go to nice neighborhoods I see
1773. 1:13:58all these walls but walls don't work but
  1774. 1:14:00he just says there's a wall it's going
1775. 1:14:01to work and then Joe Biden says not one
  1776. 1:14:04foot and now they're building 26 miles
1777. 1:14:06of wall of course walls work they don't
1778. 1:14:08mean it work 100% but they deter and
1779. 1:14:11it's harder to come across they didn't
1780. 1:14:14like that simplistic Donald Trump pushed
1781. 1:14:17every one of their buttons he his hair
1782. 1:14:20his accent his skin color is way he
1783. 1:14:23dressed what he ate crudity yes what he
  1784. 1:14:27like you know I would read things i'
1785. 1:14:29talk to people my God he had two
1786. 1:14:31hogendas ice creams he ate a che you
1787. 1:14:34know the way he's just it was like
1788. 1:14:38somebody went into the mind of a leftist
1789. 1:14:40and said can you create Lucifer in her
1790. 1:14:43mind and he has to look like him he has
1791. 1:14:45to talk like him and he has to do still
1792. 1:14:47and he did it and they went completely
1793. 1:14:49and you and I or everybody knows people
1794. 1:14:51that even on the conservative side that
  1795. 1:14:54were normal and now they're completely
  1796. 1:14:56crazy they've never regained their
1797. 1:14:57sanity all they can talk about and
  1798. 1:14:59they're nashing their teeth they're like
1799. 1:15:01race or ghost in the Wilder they're just
1800. 1:15:03he drove them completely crazy yeah so
  1801. 1:15:06Victor I have a final really hard
  1802. 1:15:08question should I move to a farm a farm
  1803. 1:15:13well I live on a farm so I'm Prejudice I
1804. 1:15:15live in the same house that my great
  1805. 1:15:16great grandmother
1806. 1:15:18Built Well there's not enough farms for
  1807. 1:15:21everybody but
1808. 1:15:23um farming itself is very hard and I
  1809. 1:15:27farm full-time for 5 years and I help my
  1810. 1:15:30brothers for another
1811. 1:15:3215 but Rural Life maybe huh out in a
  1812. 1:15:36rural community I think there's a lot of
1813. 1:15:38advantages to it you you uh avoid all
  1814. 1:15:42the
1815. 1:15:42pathologies of the big city I grew up on
1816. 1:15:46a farm and one neighbor was from Armenia
1817. 1:15:50and one neighbor was from Greece and one
1818. 1:15:53was Japanese American and one was
1819. 1:15:55Mexican ameran and one was a European um
1820. 1:16:01from uh what we call Bas there was
  1821. 1:16:04Basque and I don't think we ever heard
  1822. 1:16:06anybody talk about
1823. 1:16:08race nobody did it was all there were so
1824. 1:16:12many other things to think about there
1825. 1:16:13was no leisure everybody was working so
1826. 1:16:15hard they were worried about the weather
1827. 1:16:17we were all in a war against the weather
1828. 1:16:19and insects and the mysteries of why
1829. 1:16:23grow or don't grow and so when you get
1830. 1:16:25in everybody in the city and they get
1831. 1:16:26sophisticated they have all this time
  1832. 1:16:29and and they're Bunch together Jefferson
  1833. 1:16:32said the Americans wouldn't America
1834. 1:16:34won't work if 95% of the people live in
  1835. 1:16:36a city said they're just bunched
1836. 1:16:38together and it we don't have enough um
  1837. 1:16:42autonomous people if you're on a farm I
1838. 1:16:45mean I it drives me crazy some we were
  1839. 1:16:47driving yesterday and speaking on a
  1840. 1:16:49Friday I had to I was teaching a class
1841. 1:16:51of Pepperdine before we got to the farm
1842. 1:16:53we had to leave and the day before all
1843. 1:16:56the power went out because a ryal
1844. 1:16:57Transformer had blown something and then
1845. 1:17:00as we were leaving we were worried
1846. 1:17:02because this uh the spray rig on the
1847. 1:17:04almonds was blowing and we didn't know
1848. 1:17:06whether you know I had to go out and
1849. 1:17:08talk to the guy and tell him you know
  1850. 1:17:10Don't Spray right here and it's
  1851. 1:17:12everything like that because you're
  1852. 1:17:13completely autonomous your sewer you're
1853. 1:17:15in charge of your sewer you're in charge
1854. 1:17:16of your water you're in charge of your
1855. 1:17:18power you're in charge of growing food
  1856. 1:17:20and you're responsible on it doesn't
  1857. 1:17:23leave a lot of time for
  1858. 1:17:25superficial things I think it's valuable
  1859. 1:17:27especially for
1860. 1:17:28kids I'll end with one anecdote maybe my
1861. 1:17:32son will get mad when he was very small
  1862. 1:17:35I was part-time and a professor but I
1863. 1:17:38lived right in the center of the farm
1864. 1:17:39and my brother was farming full-time so
1865. 1:17:42he taught my son how to use a forklift I
1866. 1:17:45think he was eight or nine years old and
1867. 1:17:47he was very good at it so fast forward
  1868. 1:17:5010 years he's at a university I won't
1869. 1:17:52mention it on the coast and he has a
  1870. 1:17:54part-time
1871. 1:17:55job and he works for a big Home Depot I
  1872. 1:17:59won't say it's that it wasn't that but
  1873. 1:18:00it was a place like that and he's he's
  1874. 1:18:03working and it's lunchtime and he's
1875. 1:18:06eating and a big semi comes in with
1876. 1:18:09concrete blocks and the guy says where's
1877. 1:18:11the for cloth driver but you have to be
1878. 1:18:12trained you have to little badge and
1879. 1:18:14says certified truck so the guy damn it
1880. 1:18:17I got to get out of here so he said do
1881. 1:18:19you know I said yeah and he said we'll
1882. 1:18:21unload it so he just and he got it all
1883. 1:18:25unloaded and then he called me and he
1884. 1:18:28Saidi got fired I said you got fired why
  1885. 1:18:31he said I'm not an
1886. 1:18:33authorized forklift driver and they said
1887. 1:18:35I have to have a badge and I happen to
1888. 1:18:37be going over to see him so I said I'll
1889. 1:18:39talk to and he did get fired and I
1890. 1:18:42thought well maybe he violated the rules
  1891. 1:18:45but wouldn't a person at least say that
1892. 1:18:47had initiative and he did a good job and
1893. 1:18:49don't do it again but we'd like to make
  1894. 1:18:51you now a forklift driver
1895. 1:18:53and that truck driver had says something
1896. 1:18:55like this is the only guy that's ever
1897. 1:18:57unloaded me that knew what he was doing
1898. 1:19:00so that's the type of things that
  1899. 1:19:01farming did yeah and I think it's made a
  1900. 1:19:04big difference another final thing I'll
1901. 1:19:06shut up is it changes your um value
  1902. 1:19:09system
1903. 1:19:12so if you can do things practical you
1904. 1:19:15you can say the wind is blowing a
  1905. 1:19:17particular way or
1906. 1:19:19it's uh the almanac says that there's
1907. 1:19:22always going to be a cool part in the
1908. 1:19:23middle of June or you look and say we're
1909. 1:19:273 minutes closer to nights are getting
  1910. 1:19:31longer because it affects farming you're
1911. 1:19:32just aware of the physical world then
1912. 1:19:34other things are less important and I
1913. 1:19:37had grown up there and and kind of
  1914. 1:19:39schizophrenic and I remember when I got
  1915. 1:19:41a PhD I was 25 when I came
  1916. 1:19:44home and I didn't get a job I had take
1917. 1:19:46care of my grandmother and I was farming
1918. 1:19:48but my dad hadn't seen me in a while and
1919. 1:19:50I kind of puffed up and I said I just
1920. 1:19:53want to say that I got a PhD in
1921. 1:19:57Classics and he said yeah nobody I
1922. 1:20:00didn't even go to my graduation he
1923. 1:20:01didn't either and he said okay and what
1924. 1:20:05does that mean I said you know I was
1925. 1:20:07really good also in writing in Greek I
  1926. 1:20:09can write Greek like English I don't
  1927. 1:20:11know if I could but I said that I
1928. 1:20:12thought I could and he said can you fix
1929. 1:20:14the dehydrator down there and we've got
1930. 1:20:18a guy working on it so just go let's go
1931. 1:20:20down there and the guy said could you
  1932. 1:20:22wire the 220 pump I said no I don't know
1933. 1:20:25how to do that and he said could you uh
1934. 1:20:29bring a water line over to the
  1935. 1:20:31dehydrator I need an inch and quarter I
1936. 1:20:32said I'm not sure I know how to do that
1937. 1:20:34could you help pull a submersible pump
1938. 1:20:37no I can and my what can you do right
1939. 1:20:41greet and I had kind of a smart brother
  1940. 1:20:44who said you know that's like a dog
1941. 1:20:45walking on two legs it's impressive but
1942. 1:20:48for what reason so it it brings you down
1943. 1:20:51to earth and I think that was my mother
1944. 1:20:55was a app pellet Court Judge she was the
1945. 1:20:56second woman in California and she went
1946. 1:20:59to Stanford off this little farm in 1946
1947. 1:21:02and when she was the Pres uh one of the
1948. 1:21:05top judges in the state Appel court she
1949. 1:21:08would go to Farmers Market with us when
1950. 1:21:10she was 60 years old and pedal fruit
1951. 1:21:13and I have pictures of her and she's got
  1952. 1:21:16t-shirt and she's out there selling
1953. 1:21:18tomatoes from more farm and an old news
1954. 1:21:21Bell Telephone V yeah so it it really is
1955. 1:21:24a humbling experience nobody in farming
1956. 1:21:27gets any credit unless they know how to
  1957. 1:21:28farm H it's titles everything are
  1958. 1:21:32Superfluous and that's really good for
  1959. 1:21:34young children yeah their values it's
  1960. 1:21:36real it's real real there's no facade
1961. 1:21:40anyway Victor thank you you are a
1962. 1:21:43National Treasure thank you for being
1963. 1:21:45the medicine for my mind I look forward
1964. 1:21:47to doing this again well thank
  1965. 1:21:49[Music]
